Author's Note: Hello all! First of all, I am so very soory for taking so long to update. There was a lot of stuff going on in my life that needed dealing with and quite honestly, was very over whelming to deal with. I had a little bit of room to breath which i utilized to write this chapter. If things go like they are then i may be able to type out a chapter every week *fingers crossed*.
Tali will be here in the next chapter and we can finally get to the real romance bit, i've decided to change her appearance in the story a bit, but not too much. I'll find the closest fan art to my concept so you guys can visualize better, and i'll be posting that on my forum discussion page, which i'll link below. Please read and review, and if you have any questions, comments and insults, please do not hesitate to dish em out. Until next time, peace!

The Kodiak shuttle made its way in the Normandy’s hangar flown by shuttle pilot Lieutenant Steve Cortez and carried the last living Prothean Javik, Garrus Vakarian and the man who had saved the galaxy twice already, none other than Commander Shepard who was deep in thought. They were returning from one the riskiest missions in history, were it not for Shepard’s interference this could easily have been the start of another galactic war; but since the Reapers had already arrived, killing trillions and harvesting the remaining turning them into horrid abominations, the possibility was really not good. The slight jerk from the shuttle landing brought Shepard out of his thoughts; he got out of the shuttle and made his way to the armory, where he took off his equipment and got back in his uniform and then stepped into the elevator to go to the bridge.
He was silent the whole time returning from Tuchanka contemplating the events of the mission, where he had helped take care of the Turian bomb planted there back in the days of the Krogan Rebellion. The Turian Primarch’s son had given his life defusing the bomb and stopping Cerberus from setting it off; countless lives had been lost in the fight against the Reapers, and countless more would be lost. Shepard wondered if they were worthwhile or where they in vain, would the Reapers be defeated or would they be just another cycle destroyed by them. He didn’t have much longer to think as the elevator opened on the bridge where he made his way to the War Room to give his report to Admiral Hackett.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Good work on Tuchanka, Commander” said Hackett, “Stopping that bomb prevented a war between the Turians and the Krogan. We can’t afford that kind of division right now, not with the Reapers here.”
“Joker said that the Krogan are recovering the bomb” replied Shepard.
“They moved in, won’t allow the Turian recovery crews to help.”
“Understandable”
“The situation is fragile at the moment; with Wrex and the Primarch aboard the Normandy, you’ve got a situation brewing. This can get very ugly, very fast. We don’t have a solid Alliance between those two yet, and if this goes wrong that Alliance will never happen. Keep the peace, Commander. That’s an order.”
“Yes, sir”
“Hackett out.” The Admiral replied, nodding lightly twice.
As soon as Shepard finished his debriefing with Admiral Hackett, he could hear the loud voices of Wrex and the Primarch arguing. Shepard had to handle this carefully, this was too risky.
“We couldn’t risk another galactic war with the Krogan, we were desperate and we had to do something” The Primarch tried to reason.
“The genophage wasn’t enough, you had to plant a bomb on my planet” Wrex countered, barely containing his anger.
“The decision was made hundreds of years ago, things were different then and so much has changed”
“Clearly not enough to tell us about the bomb, coward”
“Hey, calm down! We can’t let the past rip us apart, working together is the only chance to defeat the Reapers. Primarch, you had a bomb on Tuchanka. And Wrex, you would have done the same damned thing in his shoes.” Shepard interjected.
“Shepard…” Wrex began, but was cut off.
“Its over! His own son died today making things right!” Shepard yelled back.
“Please. Commander, it’s all right” The Primarch replied.
“Yes. Fine, Shepard. You’ve made your point, we have much stronger enemies to face.” Wrex finally conceded.
“We do” Shepard replied making his way to the central console, he stood leaning forward on his hands, followed by the Primarch on his side. Wrex sighed in frustration and walked away.
“I understand your reservations before, Commander. But I hope you now understand the reason for all the secrecy” The Primarch explained to Shepard.
“Secrets get people killed, Primarch. You’ve learned that the hard way.” Shepard replied, he didn’t mean it to come out so harsh, but the anger was still there and the Turians were at fault for keeping such a big issue a secret.
“Yes…the hardest one I’m ever to learn, Commander.” The Primarch replied, his voice full of regret and sadness. He remained silent and climbed the steps to the upper level, where he stopped and addressed Shepard again.
“My son…he died with the respect of his men. I wanted to thank you for that. His sacrifice will be recorded in the histories of the Ninth Platoon. Something any father would be proud of.” Victus said walking away.
“Yes, Sir” Shepard acknowledged, that was all he could say.
The Normandy was currently en route to The Citadel from the Attican Traverse, Shepard and his team was sent to investigate a missing Krogan team where they met up with Grunt. Together they found the Rachni being corrupted into Reaper troops, and rescued the Rachni queen, putting an end to the supply of Rachni troops to the Reapers. The door to the main battery slid opened revealing Shepard, now dressed in his N7 hoodie which he wore on off duty hours; Garrus was calibrating the Normandy’s main gun, a task he often did but right now it was a welcome distraction to take his thoughts off his burning homeworld.
“Don’t you ever relax, Garrus? Other than the time spent on missions, all I’ve ever seen you is ‘calibrate’ the main guns.” Shepard asked prompting Garrus to turn around to face Shepard, he looked exhausted.
“I don’t think I can Shepard. Working on the main battery distracts me from the reality that billions are dying, at the very least it gives me something to do, at least until the next mission” Garrus replied.
“I know what you mean, but you’re no good to the galaxy half dead. That’s why you’re joining me on the observation deck, and that’s an order” Shepard replied jokingly, trying to ease the tension they had been feeling, causing Garrus to laugh lightly and follow Shepard to the observation deck. Shepard made drinks for the both of them, and just after a few of them Garrus began to relax which relieved Shepard.
“I’m glad Grunt’s OK, taking out a whole bunch of Reaper modified Rachni could have ended real ugly, but I’m glad he walked out alive in one piece.” Garrus said after his 5th drink, a bit more relaxed than he had been for weeks.
“Yeah, but that’s Grunt we’re talking about. Throw anything at him and he’ll rip it in half, if he doesn’t crush it already that is. Still I agree about the Rachni though, they were too much for us three and he’s one krogan.” Shepard replied.
“How’s he doing? He didn’t look exactly pretty when he walked out of the cave, even for a krogan”
“I checked up on him before I came to you, Chakwas and Mordin patched him up a bit so he looks a little bit better, he’ll make it once he gets to Huerta Memorial.”
“Yeah, I know. I just hope we did the right thing by letting the Rachni Queen go, things didn’t turn out good the last time exactly.”
“I believe we did the right thing, she stayed true to her word when we let her go back then. It’s the Reapers who got to her and were breeding an army using her. They were using her offspring to make their soldiers, she has as much reason to hate the Reapers as us now, this is her fight as much as its ours. She’ll help us, Garrus. I know it.”
“I hope so too, Shepard” Garrus replied, finishing his drink.
“Get some sleep, Garrus. We’re just going to the Citadel, nothing special happening on the ride over. And as Mordin tells me, we’ll have the cure by the time we leave the Citadel. And don’t make me make it an order.” Shepard said.
“Alright, Shepard, will do. See you in the morning, I guess.” Garrus replied chuckling, as he got up to go to the crew quarters to get some rest. Shepard remained a bit longer, his thoughts swimming through his head as he sipped on his drink. Light purple skin, glowing pale eyes, dark hair and kisses as sweet as honey were all that came to mind, no matter what he thought about he always ended up thinking about Tali. He missed her badly, he wanted her by his side, he wanted her comfort. No contact, no word for six months was enough to have him worried for her. All he could do was hope she was OK, that one day he could gaze into her eyes once more, kiss those lips; he wanted that more than anything in the world.

The elevator opened up on the Presidium revealing its temporary inhabitants, Shepard and Garrus stepped out engaged in conversation.
“So Shepard, taking me out on a date on the Presidium? I’m flattered, to be wooed by the great Commander Shepard. I really am a lucky guy” Garrus joked.
“Relax Garrus, you’re not my type. We’re here for another reason, something we both have an interest in and we’ll need very soon” Shepard replied, chuckling.
“Oh? And what would that be?”
“Garrus, my friend. We’re buying new weapons and armor, my treat, buy anything you want I got you covered”
“I love you too, Shepard”
Shepard only laughed in reply as they browsed through the different stores on the citadel. After a lot of looking around and some bargaining, the two were on their way back to the Normandy. Garrus had bought himself the Phaeston assault rifle and the Krysae sniper rifle and a new armor set that looked Shepard’s terminus armor set, only bigger and engineered for Turians. Shepard on the other hand had gotten himself the latest armor set from Armax Arsenal and was quite pleased with the armor as not only did it look good, it came with an onboard VI that enhanced Shepard combat performance. Shepard had just pressed the button for the docks in the elevator, when he received a message on his omni-tool. Something about a new weapons shipment, especially for him at the Spectre’s office.
“You go on ahead, Garrus. I got a package waiting for me at the Spectre’s office.” Shepard told Garrus as the elevator’s doors closed.
“Alright, you can get off at the embassies, and thanks for the weapons and armor.” Garrus replied as he pressed the button for the embassies.
“Don’t mention it, consider it as an early birthday present” Shepard had a substantial amount of credits left over from the time he joined forces with Cerberus against the Collectors. He fully intended to use those credits buying all the equipment he and his crew needed for the war against the Reapers.
Arriving at the Spectre’s office, he found the crate addressed to him with the N7 logo on it, and a note addressed to him by a Lt. D. Eugene. Upon opening he found the latest state of the art weapons used by the N7s in the galaxy. He saw several guns in the crate, the Valkyrie assault rifle, Hurricane SMG, Eagle heavy pistol, the Crusader and Piranha shotguns, the Valiant sniper rifle and the Typhoon machine gun. Shepard was grinning from ear to ear.
“Oh, I’m definitely going to have some fun with these” Shepard said to himself, as he took the weapons to the range to test them out.
After nearly two hours of modding the guns and testing them, Shepard was quite satisfied with his new weapons. He had a few spare pieces that he would use if something happened to his main weapons, or if he was feeling a bit generous and wanted to share them with his squad. Carrying the crate he made his way back to the Normandy, and once he was on board, he put his new weapons and armor in the armory. He got in the Normancy and pressed the buttons for the CIC, from where he made his way to the War Room. He was barely there for fifteen minutes, when Mordin entered informing him, the cure was complete. It was time.
