Pre-story note: This chapter takes place about a week after the previous one, when all of the rumors have been resolved.
Luigi had asked Samus to team up with him in an upcoming teams tournament at the smash brothers arena, and she accepted. He didn't know what to think, perhaps she liked him as well or maybe she just wanted to give him a chance, or maybe there was something he wasn't considering. Regardless of the reason, Samus agreed to team up with Luigi. He was very excited about the chance to get to know her more. They had planned a couple of "dates" to work out together, figure out each other's strengths and weaknesses, and how they could work together effectively.
*START OF TALK ABOUT ACTUAL SMASH BROTHERS META*
"Well, we both can control the air very well, and we both have killing potential off of the top blast zone, you with your Super Jump Punch and Cyclone, as well as Up Smash, and me with Boost Kick and Up Air." Samus explains to Luigi.
"Yea, I agree, and you have your Paralyzer gun that can lead into all sorts of things from me, Super Jump Punch, a grab followed by me throwing them to you to start a combo, or if I'm low on time I can do a back air."
"Yes, those would all work quite well, but what can I take advantage of from your toolset?" Samus replies, thinking to herself and also posing the question to Luigi.
"Well, I have a lot of things that come from grab, and my back throw takes a bit to wind up so you can get into position with a Boost Kick or maybe an aerial . My fireballs are also good at stopping opponents, and they can set up for jab lock punishes." Luigi mentions.
"That's true, I'll keep that in mind, my Forward Tilt is alright at setting up for a jab lock." Samus replies.
“Ok then, I think we have enough of a plan for this tournament.” Luigi concludes.

On the day of the first round of the tournament, Luigi was nervous, he didn’t want to let Samus down, and their first opponents were very formidable. Captain Falcon, and Fox McCloud. Samus wasn’t worried, she was always confident about her ability to fight, but that didn’t help Luigi’s nerves, unfortunately for them.
Captain Falcon was among the majority of the smashers that were surprised to see Samus giving Luigi a chance, but also a part of the small minority that didn’t like it, so he doesn’t want them to win and start to think they work together well, he wants them to lose and break up. Fox really couldn’t care less about Luigi and Samus’s relationship, but he told Captain Falcon what he wanted to hear to get him fired up for the fight ahead.
*INTERMISSION AS THE PARTS OF THE FIGHT NOT WORTH DESCRIBING TRANSPIRE*
Luigi was offstage on his last stock, he had taken quite a beating, he was at 115% damage. Fox was on his last stock as well, but he was faring much better at only 40% damage. Samus and Captain Falcon were on the tail end of their first stocks. (2 stock ruleset) Samus hit a boost kick on Captain Falcon, sending him flying into the side blast zone. Fox went offstage after Luigi, and Luigi hit Fox with a Forward Air, putting him under the stage. Both Luigi and Fox lost their stocks, and then Luigi had to choose if he wanted to take Samus’s spare stock, or just let her handle Captain Falcon herself.
After about 5 seconds of internal debate, he decided to rejoin the match with Samus’s second stock, leaving her with one.
She gave him a displeased look as Luigi jumped down from the respawn platform, but said nothing and returned her attention to the sky, waiting for Captain Falcon to return to the fight.
As Captain Falcon respawned, he looked furious when he saw Fox sitting in the spectator box as Luigi and Samus were waiting for him. He dropped down from the respawn platform with both renewed energy and adrenaline, and landed a grab on Samus.
He threw her offstage, and landed a Down Air, ending her stock. Luigi was almost embarrassed by his decision, he expected to get the chance to fight alongside Samus after respawning, giving them safety in numbers, but Captain Falcon was just too determined.
Captain Falcon taunted to Samus, who was now sitting in the spectator box, which gave Luigi the opening he needed to gain an advantage.
He landed 2 jabs, and comboed them into a grab, into 2 Forward Airs, dealing 25%. Captain Falcon landed hard, and Luigi followed his landing with a fireball, jab locking him. He threw another fireball to rack up damage, while repeating the jab lock, and then landed a Super Jump Punch as Captain Falcon stood up, leaving him at 70%, to Luigi’s fresh stock.
Luigi stood up from his Super Jump Punch, and Captain Falcon came down with a forward air, his signature knee, straight into Luigi’s face, dealing 19% and knocking Luigi off of his feet. Captain Falcon landed a Dash Attack as Luigi landed hard, into an Up Air, into another knee, leaving Luigi at 60%, and the match even.
Luigi was hit offstage, but he recovered easily and Captain Falcon didn’t even try challenging him, as Luigi was far more practiced offstage.
Luigi climbed up from the ledge, and Captain Falcon attempted to catch him with a Dash Attack, but Luigi side stepped the attack, and landed another Super Jump Punch, securing a victory for him and Samus.
Luigi shot his signature finger guns toward the spectator box as his celebration for winning the match for his team, as Samus grinned, Captain Falcon screamed “NOOOO!” and Fox muttered “Well done greenie.”
Luigi was teleported out of the arena to the spectator box, where he was approached by Samus.
“Hey! I hope you weren-” Luigi began saying, but he was cut off by Samus wrapping her arms around him and kissing him.
Luigi was shocked by this, and almost lost consciousness, but the adrenaline he had in his system from the fight moments ago kept him awake. He returned the kiss with enthusiasm, and they broke away from each other after about 10 seconds.
“What…” Luigi said, still confused but extremely grateful for his first kiss with Samus.
“I’m glad you took my spare stock Luigi, you won us the match. I have a losing record against Falcon so I almost certainly would’ve lost the match even with the slight advantage I had. This first round was really important to me, as is the whole tournament, so thank you for helping me win, you did great out there. That kiss wasn’t even enough to express my gratitude.” Samus explained, blushing lightly.
In contrast, Luigi was blushing so much it looked like he had just run a marathon, his face was so red.
“You’re welcome Samus, I initially thought you were going to be mad when I used your stock, especially when you looked at me like that when I respawned.” Luigi replied, still shocked at Samus’s kiss but less confused.
“At first I was disappointed, because you didn’t let me handle it myself, but as I was sitting in the spectator box, I remembered my losing record, and how you had never gone up against Falcon 1 on 1. I also realized that you wanted safety in numbers, so that we could double team Falcon, but that didn’t work out. After realizing these things, I was pleased with your decision. And after I saw how well you were performing, I was very pleased with your decision.” Samus explained with a wink.
“I’m just glad I didn’t lose the match for both of us, and by the way, thanks for that kiss, that was amazing.” Luigi said, still blushing, not afraid to show his own gratitude.
“You’re welcome Luigi, you deserve it~.” Samus said, attempting to show Luigi how appreciative she was, but also sounding suggestive.
Luigi fainted again. Samus shook him awake and helped him out of the spectator box, which was soon closing so that it could be used for the next match.
