**Installment 4**
Two days they had been tailing the convoy. Two days of spying and not one glimpse of Princess Caellia. They weren’t far from Oren Castle now, they would have to make their move and quickly. Nathavin’s eyes narrowed in concentration, what of the silver ranger? Likely she knew something, as a matter of fact; he knew she knew something regarding Caellia. It was time for action.
Caellia watched Einao as he readied everyone to go. He was nervous, but why? Grabbing her bow and quiver of arrows she approached him. “Hey.”
Einao jumped slightly and turned around quickly. “Don’t scare me like that! Make some kind of noise!”
“Sorry, but its habit to be stealthy.” She grinned at him. “We should be meeting some of Goryn’s men today shouldn’t we?” While she wasn’t thrilled with the idea of marrying Goryn, she was secretly glad to see her friend soon. Perhaps he’d be with his men she thought to herself.
“If all goes well yes.” Einao sighed. He hated this, the cost of his arrangement with the dark brethren was too high. He looked at Caellia who was happier than she would ever dare of admitting at the prospect of seeing Goryn. He looked towards the mountains, he knew they were there. He had noticed them trailing them several days ago. And he knew Nathavin was with them and there was nothing he could do. He could only hope that Nathavin would not figure out who Caellia was until it was too late and she was safely within Oren Castle. Luckily everyone had been calling Caellia by just ‘Lia, instead of the full name.
“Good!” She exclaimed, grinning from pointy ear to pointy ear. She took off to see Nalia and to hurry things along.
Einao looked back to the mountains and shuddered. This was going to be bad.

Goryn looked at his men once more than gave the order to start out to meet the elven convoy. He watched with satisfaction as his troops left the gates. Since the convoy was in his lands and not but a day’s trip from the castle he took only a light contingent with him. He soon joined them in the ranks and they marched down the road to meet the convoy.

“Leave the silver ranger to me. Do not touch Einao; he has much to answer for. Kill the rest, they are worthless as prisoners.” Nathavin spoke low to his gathered force. “If you find Caellia, call me immediately. Do not engage any of the guards that may be with her until I get there.” He looked at the assorted ranks of dark elves and orcs that were gathered. “Goryn will most likely be sending an escort party to receive the convoy today. Do not be surprised if it shows up. Chances are it will be a small group only intended as a show of goodwill and friendship. Ignore it until you must deal with it. Our main goal is Caellia. Now go.” He stood up and watched his troops swiftly gear up and head down from the mountains. He looked down at the slowly moving convoy and his lips curled in a sinister smile. Today, Einao would pay in full for the training he had received.

“Incoming!” Nalia shouted. She grabbed her twin swords and stood ready. She didn’t need to look back to see the rest of the group of fighters unsheathing and readying their own weapons. She did however glare daggers at Caellia as she strung her bow and took aim. “What do you think you are doing?! Get behind us you stubborn fool!”
“No. You will need my bow, their forces are great and we need all the fighters we can get.” Caellia stood her ground and stared at her target, a dark elf with a dagger in his hand. Squinting slightly, she released the arrow and watched in satisfaction as it flew true and struck its target squarely in the chest. She knocked another arrow and released again with the same results and watched the target grasp its chest and stop running before falling to the ground.
Nalia shook her head…there was no arguing with her now. Soon she had no time to think on it anymore when the forces came face to face and all was mass of rapidly swinging swords. She watched as differing spells crashed around and into her. She could hear the incantations from the human sorcerers as they sent fireballs into the enemy. She looked through the haze of battle and saw a spell singer stuck down by towering orc. She felt a blow to her back and hastily turned to face the attacker and stood face to face with a dark elven blade dancer. She spun her swords aggressively in her hands and waited for his attack. She didn’t have to wait long.
Caellia fired her bow rapidly without stopping, the enemy force was larger than they had imagined. They wouldn’t last long against this onslaught. She abandoned her position and began to work her way towards the back of the group to help the humans. She paused next to Einao, who seemed to be in shock. “What’s wrong?! Start fighting!” She yelled. He did and said nothing. She looked in the direction he was facing and froze in horror.
Nathavin chuckled lightly; the two people he wanted to deal with personally were right in front of him, how nice. “Einao, it’s been a long while since I’ve seen you fight.”
“Not long enough.” Einao replied shakily.
“I don’t think I’ve had the honor of seeing you fight silver ranger. Perhaps we could rectify that?” He ominously brought his bow down and prepared an arrow to be fired.
Caellia gritted her teeth and whispered to Einao, “Sing, our lives depend on your songs.” She brought her own bow up and prepared her own arrow, knowing full well that this might be the last time she would fight. She wasn’t prepared for what happened next.
“Are you going to betray us Einao? Will you betray us as you did them? Do you honestly think I will let you betray us? We trained you Einao, we took you in and trained you at an accelerated pace and you owe us a debt that has yet to be repaid boy.” Nathavin watched as Einao’s face turned an unnatural shade of pale for light elves.
Caellia’s fingers on the bow began to tremble, was that why Einao had been acting strangely? Was that why he was uninjured in this battle? She whispered in disbelief, “It’s not true is it? Einao please tell me it’s not true!” She thought about all the times he had been gone and had come back stronger more quickly than anyone thought possible for his training sessions. “By Eva tell me it’s not true!”
Einao stood with his head down looking at the ground. He couldn’t bear to look at Caellia as he painfully forced his answer from his lips, “Yes, it’s true. I trained with them to advance through the ranks more quickly than my peers.”
Caellia nearly dropped her bow. She couldn’t focus through her tears as she listened to his confession. Forcefully bringing herself together she choked out her answer, “I will deal with this act of treason later.”
“Einao, have you forgotten? You haven’t repaid your debt to us.” Nathavin watched Einao closely.
“Princess Caellia is not here. This convoy was a decoy, a ruse to get you to show yourself.” Einao lied. He only hoped Goryn would show up with a decent number of troops to send Nathavin running.
“You cowardly traitor! How dare you mock the Dark Elven empire?!” Nathavin roared.
A cry cut through the battle, interrupting Nathavin. “Goryn is here!”
