Vampire's Kiss
This story was made for fun and definitely NOT for making profit or money out of it. Trust me, ya boi Mina only sees writing as a hobby and their passion. More important, I do NOT own King of Fighters.

Back to the presence. Nearly a month has passed, and a new full moon rises again, so Kyo is supposed to meet the redhead vampire hunter again. Despite that, he decides not to, not after being utterly defeated, or at least before regaining more strength to face him.
Besides, he is still too weak to fight a pesky human, and who knows whether it’s the hunter’s trap to lure him out. If that is the case, then it’s an obvious trick. So, it’s too bad for that foolish human who will only waste his time and freeze to death because the brunette is not going anywhere close to the abandoned chapel.
And who does this human think he is to make fun of him? However, he will have his revenge… Somehow? The brunette wonders on his way to the cemetery.
After a while, Kyo reaches the cemetery. It is such a calm evening, and only the rustle of tree leaves disturbs the peace. There is not a single living spirit in sight, just the vampire chilling out and leaning against some unknown soldier’s grave.
Only the crumbled piece of the gray stone returns Kyo to this world. After he shakes and cleans the dirt from his palm, he glimpses around and momentarily panics at an intimidating presence.
That person looks familiar, and it makes the vampire leave as soon as possible. Even if this foolish human may not notice him, it is wiser not to wait any longer before finding it out the hard way.
When Kyo turns around, he accidentally steps on an old crunchy branch and closes his eyes, hoping the hunter doesn’t hear that noise.
Humans don’t have such a good hearing, do they? That’s why he should be fine, right? The vampire tries to convince himself.
Suddenly, he jolts and freezes in the same spot at the stern voice behind him. “Stop right here.”
But for now, Kyo slowly turns back and plays dumb by pointing a finger at himself and innocently asking. “Eh? Are you talking to me? I think you have mistaken me for someone else, mister.”
Nevertheless, the redhead hunter, who wears the same long, dark red leather coat with a white crescent moon, matching color pants, and black biker gloves, approaches him closer and closer while Kyo steps back.
Despite that, the vampire keeps acting, hoping this pesky fellow will leave him alone. “Hey, mister, are you lost? You know, it’s dangerous to walk here alone. Someone might attack or kill you.”
Yet the red-haired hunter backfires with his poker face. “Like you did last time, vampire?”
These words shock the brunette, and he indignantly responds. “Oi, watch your mouth, human! Be grateful that I’m still in a good mood or else!-”
The vampire hunter interrupts him with a sensible mockery in his voice. “Or else you will taste my whip again. You sure bark loud, but you barely can bite back, vampire.”
That’s it! The brunette won’t stand any longer being taunted by that arrogant bastard!
When Kyo puts his hands into his jeans pocket and gets close to the vampire hunter, he thrusts his chest. “Don’t act so though just because you defeated me once. It was the first and the last time.”
The vampire tilts his head to the side without removing his eyes from the hunter and raises his eyebrow. “But you came here not only to mock me, did you? What do you want from me, Mister Vampire Hunter?”
After the redhead fixes his coat’s collar, he briefly smiles and replies. “It was rather you who insulted me with your poor skills. Listen carefully, vampire. I need information from you.”
However, the brunette closes his eyes and lifts his head like a proud feline before walking past him. When he is behind the hunter’s back, he turns his head and responds. “What if I don’t tell you?~ I have no idea what you’re talking about. Is that all? Then I hope we won’t meet again.”
Thus, the vampire continues walking. But a moment hasn’t passed, and he immediately stops and widens his eyes.
Apparently, something small and fast flies close to his face.
A second later, he feels a warm liquid running down his cheek. When he wipes his cheek with one hand, he looks at it and notices that it is tainted with his blood.
“What a hell?” The vampire only whispers in a higher pitch voice and grinds his teeth.
When he turns around, he notices the redhead’s opened coat, and on his belt attached is a small leather bag with several knives inside. More so, the redhead holds a blade as if it is ready to be launched at any time.
For now, the vampire hunter warns him. “It was only a warning and next time I won’t miss it. You can’t just leave yet. So, why don’t you answer a couple of questions? Then I may let you go.”
Kyo only raises an eyebrow and suspiciously stares at him.
What is inside this human’s mind? He doesn’t look trustworthy. But the vampire pushes his luck and approaches the vampire hunter with caution. Even if it might be a mistake, he feels that it’s not a good idea to test this person’s patience.
Meanwhile, the redhead lowers the knife and puts it back into the bag.
It seems this creature is smarter than he looks like. Besides, it would be such a huge waste to use even a single sub-weapon. After all, they aren’t cheap, and it will be more than annoying to get them. The vampire hunter assumes.
More so, the redhead is convinced that the brunette isn’t just some annoying brat who asks for trouble.
While Kyo’s wounded cheek slowly heals in front of him, he asks the hunter with a mildly frustrated look. “What do want, human?”
The redhead opens his coat and searches for something in his inner chest pockets. When he takes a few slightly ruffled papers and shows them to Kyo, the vampire gives him a questioning look.
But for now, he briefly explains. “These are reports from the next day since our last meeting.”
Kyo cracks a smile and asks. “And what do I have to do with this? Don’t tell me you’re accusing me of someone else foolishness. Besides, whatever it was, don’t you think that is a little too late to change anything? You’re too slow, Mister Vampire Hunter~”
After the brunette mockingly swooshes his hair, he waits for the vampire hunter’s reaction.
It seems the vampire hunter keeps his cool and responds. “Well, it should concern you more than you expect, vampire.”
After a short pause, he continues. “Answer my question. There was a murder and the victim barely resembled a human by remaining only as a wrinkled skin bag. Aside from that, there were two bite spots on its neck as it was done by your kind. Do you know or heard anything about it?”
Kyo only momentarily lowers his slightly guilty gaze and confesses. “Oh, you mean that stupid woman? Yeah, she was okay, I guess. So, what is all about it?”
Surely, the redhead hasn’t expected an honest answer, but he listens further to him. “Was it your girlfriend or something? If so, you can only blame yourself, and next time, be more careful~”
After finishing his speech, the brunette carelessly walks around the vampire hunter, and upon completing one circle, he stops to study his reaction.
Even if such behavior irritates the red-haired male, he remains patient while grinding his teeth. “I have told you to behave. That includes keeping yourself from trouble, vampire.”
These words immediately wipe out Kyo’s smug look. When he steps closer to the vampire hunter, he complains. “Are you telling me you will forbid me from having food?! Not only that, I was starving for days, but now you have shown up and beat a shit out of me. Of course, I needed more energy!”
At that moment, the vampire’s hands are trembling, and he lowers his head. After shaking his head, he returns his unusually serious gaze to the redhead and continues in a slightly calmer tone. “Human, don’t act so high because you may regret it. Food is food, no matter how you look at it. Besides, you humans do hunt and kill for food. So, why are we worse? You are no better or worse than any animal, but you act like you’re on the top of the food chain. So, when you kill, it’s okay. As long as your own comforted ass is okay, you don’t seem to be so bothered. However, when someone else hunts you for the same reason, you simply cannot stand it... No, you even go for the worst punishments. Listen, human, even if I didn’t do what I had already done, that woman may have a worse fate than death. Do you know what she did?”
The vampire hunter doesn’t say a word and listens to Kyo’s story. “After I managed to stand up, I desperately sought anyone just to get enough energy to heal wounds. Fortunately, I felt the presence of a couple of people in the forest. However, after taking a better look, I saw only a one person standing in the same spot and crying while holding something. When I looked closely, I noticed that this woman was holding a long, bloody knife. These blades were still dripping with the fresh blood. So, maybe the other energy belonged to the person whom she killed. I could still hear through her sobbing that she was apologizing to someone. Hell, I had to act quickly. That woman was about to kill herself with that knife!”
Kyo lowers his concerned eyes while confessing. “Do you have any idea what kind of waste it would be? So much valuable food may go for nothing! I couldn’t let it happen… Who knows how long I would still last without energy? However, maybe the luck was on my side. That foolish human accidentally noticed me, but she looked at me with those sad and lifeless eyes. She was still holding that bloody blade so close to her throat, but I to hit that knife from her hands and she just looked at me with a confused face and was ready to burst into tears again.”
After the brunette covers his face with his palm for a few moments, he avoids facing the vampire hunter. “What was I supposed to do? I… I was too hungry and exhausted. So, my instincts took over me and I sank my fangs into that woman’s neck, and… That’s all I can remember. After I returned to my senses, I found her lying dead like this.”
After a long pause, Kyo lifts his amber eyes and asks. “So, what are you going to do by knowing this?”
The redhead’s poker face only tightens his lips and exhales while keeping his straight face. “Do you want to say that you could still save this person, but you killed her because of your primal instincts? You sure are lucky that you weren’t spotted.”
These words anger the vampire, and he backfires with a mocking look. “Hmph! Are you saying that I should have spared one person’s life instead of hundreds of people?”
Yet, the redhead gives him a questioning look, and Kyo continues. “Are you sure that you’re not just a wannabe hunter? Because you vampire hunters should know better about your target, or else you may die~”
A moment later, the brunette lowers his gaze and holds his arm. “You see, feeling physical pain is one thing. It comes, and it goes off eventually. The same thing with wounds. However, there is something worse than any physical pain. If the vampire cannot satisfy their hunger for a long time, then their mind can be taken over by how you humans call the instincts. It happens slowly, tho. But when it happens…”
The vampire nervously swallows the saliva and continues to explain. “You cannot redo the damage or return to your senses. After this stage, nothing will help you. I saw it once and even if that vampire was gentle and had a calm nature…”
In the end, he cannot finish this sentence as if the words are stuck in his throat. For now, Kyo clenches his fists and eventually relaxes his palms.
Maybe the redhead has accidentally triggered unwanted memories of this vampire. Who knows? But, then, he shouldn’t feel bad about his target. The redhead hunter convinces himself.
Soon, the vampire continues with a gloominess in his voice. “Hey, Mister Vampire Hunter, don’t you call this a selfishness? You may let hundreds of people to die for one person, who can kill themselves at any second. Funny, isn’t it? I was near on the edge of being taken over by that dark voice and my head ached so badly that I wanted to smash it with a rock so that I could die with having my mind. Fuck that, if my body was giving up on me or could like crumble in any second! It wasn’t as bad as dealing with that demon. But even if I had lost my senses, we may still have encountered, human. However-”
The redhead’s interest is sparked by these words, and he is completely captivated, unable to look away or interrupt the vampire. “You would be fighting an empty shell fueled with nothing but pure instincts. Probably the other hunters may have already finished me before you-’’
Finally, the vampire hunter has enough! He immediately and roughly grabs the vampire’s hand and drags him towards some kind of small stone building, which is too far from them.
After the red-haired hunter violently opens the door and enters inside, he slams the door behind them while Kyo barely has time to process what is happening.
