As the outlander was observing, she saw the sky was beginning to turn green. A breach was getting created and it did surprise her that the dark magister chose not to wait, he was that angry over the well. What sucks was the fact they had just gotten back from the Temple of Mythal. Seeing how there was little time for her to prepare herself for a possible death, she ran down the stairs to the “war room”. Sirena slammed the door open only to see that Evelyn’s hand was glowing green. Her mark was acting up big time. It didn’t take her long to figure out the cause of the mark flaring up and the sudden breach in the sky. The American saw the look of shock on the Inquisitor’s face had turned to anger. When she finally got a chance to look at everyone, Morrigan and Cullen looked the most solemn while Josephine was stunned. Her eyes met with the Commander’s briefly and the look he gave was breaking her heart. Did she have to go with Evelyn to fight Corypheus? Deep in her heart she knew that her path was set from the moment in Haven. This was her consequence for choosing to be a hero.
“I must go now, before it is too late.” Without any hesitation on both Evelyn’s and Morrigan’s part, they both left to get those who’s be going with them. Her ability to hide her emotions was slowly wanning.
It was odd how close the enemy was to Skyhold. Of course, he wasn’t right outside the gates, but he may as well have been. There was a ruin, she made her way to along with the other chosen companions. Rocks were beginning to rise in the air and in the distance, she was able to hear Corypheus speak condescendingly to a few soldiers. Even if he didn’t have an army anymore, he was still terrifying on his own. When he finds her in the middle of their companions, she wanted to run. He didn’t even bother to look at her hand which had no glow since she wasn’t the inquisitor.
“I knew you would come.” He spoke to the outlander, looking her right in the eyes. Instead of running like she wanted, Sirena remained strong as she watched him bow to her for whatever reason. Her eyes discreetly glanced over to Evelyn, the real one in charge, only to see that she had given her a nod.
“It’s over Corypheus! This is where it ends.”
“And so, it shall.” With a wave of his red glowing hands, the ruins somehow were rising up with the group on it. There was a lot of distance between the ruins and the ground. It was so bad that they were in the clouds it seemed. “You have been most successful in foiling my plans, but let us not forget what you are.” The way he peered at her with such hatred made a chill run down her spine. “A thief, in the wrong place at the wrong time. An interloper. A gnat. We shall prove here once and for all, which of us deserves godhood.” Sirena didn’t want to compete for the godhood. She wasn’t even religious! At least not in the Christian way. Obviously, the American practiced wicca. But, being a god was something she’d never strive for. That was a fool’s errand.
“You honestly talk way too much for someone who has something to prove.” After the outlander faced off against Corypheus, she heard a roar which made her inspect the area above her. There, a black dragon stood on the ruined castle. As soon as it lunged at her like it was going to eat her, another dragon appeared and attacked the creature. A gasp had left her mouth while she took a step back. She thought it was actually going to devour her.
It was then that the final battle had begun. Everyone had joined the fight. The long-ranged weapons stayed away while the melee got up close and personal. As much as she wished that she was using a bow and arrows to preserve her life longer, the American girl unsheathed her sword and also got into the fray. There was a system in how they each got a shot at the dark magister. For the most part, they attacked two at a time. In between the melee hits, Sera was letting her arrows loose hitting the rather tall target. After so many blows, Corypheus decided to disappear and reappear elsewhere in the ruins. Sirena scrutinized the area before looking off to the side and spotted stairs that led upwards.
On the second level of what used to be a castle, the outlander noticed that the enemy was in a place she was unable to reach. Vivienne and Sera had a much easier time attacking the dark spawn who was once a man. Sirena looked over at the inquisitor and motioned with her head to follow her. Off to the right where the tall dark magister was attacking those with the long-ranged weapons were stairs that lead to the third level. Once she got to the landing where there was no stone wall to prevent them from falling, the young woman saw Morrigan in her dragon form fighting the corrupted flying reptilian. Without any hesitation, she climbed the last stairs with Evelyn before taking a break. She leaned against the wall across from the one who had claimed her as a cousin which felt like a lifetime ago.
“Holy shit… He really has it out for me.” Sirena said as her head leaned back against the wall. “Look, Evelyn, I need to say this before we really go against him.” Her eyes looked over towards the older woman before she continued. “I want to thank you for taking me under your wing when others were suspicious. You didn’t have to take me in and claim I was your cousin and yet, you did. For that, I will always be grateful and I just wanted you to know that I appreciate it till this day.” She could see that the older blonde was curious to why all the words. As the American watched Evelyn, she saw the light bulb went off in her noggin.
“You’re saying a goodbye. Do you honestly think I would let Corypheus kill you? Even Vivienne would not let that happen. You have people here who would protect you. He may be focused on you, but that gives rest of us a chance to take him down before he can lay a finger on you.” The outlander was able to hear not only confidence in Evelyn’s voice but determination as well. How badly Sirena wanted to believe the woman across from her. She may not have believed the inquisitor but the effort was appreciated. No one would be able to stop the dark magister from killing her if he got her before anyone could save her. The American girl wasn’t stupid and it may have been a hard pill to swallow, but she’d take him down with her.
Soon enough, footsteps were heard coming up the stairs. Everyone took a small break to catch their breath. From the sweat dripping down all of their faces, it showed how hard everyone had been working to take the corrupted man down. Once the group seemed ready to go, the Inquisitor climbed up the last stairs and Sirena after. There was no faltering from anyone, the melee, again, ran up to attack Corypheus who seemed to be covered in red lyrium. The ranged weapons kept their distance, taking their shots in between the melee strikes. Sadly, there was no health bar for the American to see.
Out of nowhere, two dragons flew up in the air past them, attacking each other. The younger blonde watched in amazement. From her view, the corrupted dragon was chasing Morrigan before she dived down in her draconic form. Things happened fast. One minute the witch of the wilds was kicking ass and the next, she was nowhere to be seen. Instead, it turned out that the black corrupted dragon had come out as victor in the spiral downwards fight. Her eyes had widened in shock not really knowing what to do. The outlander had never fought against a dragon before. As she stood there in horror, everyone else ran up to the beastly thing and were attacking it since they had previous experience with fighting such creatures.
Sirena finally stopped staring at the dragon and observed how the others were attacking the large beast. Once she figured out how Evelyn was fighting it and avoiding blows herself, the outlander ran up under its belly and began swinging her katana at the legs of the creature. While hitting the red lyrium dragon, she made sure to watch out for the feet that could stomp on her in a moment’s notice. Her heart was pumping hard and fast with adrenaline. Before she even knew it, the beast let out a loud roar. The young woman immediately backed away only to have a closer looked at it. It was the most disgusting and gruesome dragon she had ever seen. The flesh even looked like it was dead and rotting in some places. As it tried snapping at her, Evelyn plunged her daggers into the ugly beast’s neck. With a loud angry roar, the creature raised its head and a large amount of blood sprayed from the wound.
It finally lay dead near both Sirena and Evelyn. Watching with her own eyes, the outlander saw sparks of red lyrium come from the head of the dead dragon. The sparks became a ball that floated away from everyone towards the highest tower. What dumbfounded her was the red ball materialized into Corypheus. Had he been possessing the dragon the entire time? How was that possible? The way science works and physical matter, one cannot be in two places at once. And if she recalled correctly, the American saw both dark magister and the beast together at Haven and even earlier during their battle. This had to be the most terrifying thing she had ever witnessed. Her eyes widened in fear.
“Let it end here. Let the skies boil Let the world be rent ascender!” As she continued to stare up at the magister, the American girl felt an arm go around her shoulders in a comforting way. Her eyes blinked a couple of times to snap back into reality. When she turned her head, Sirena was surprised that Vivienne was being comforting due to the reputation she had. Either way, she appreciated the gesture. With a small nod, the outlander let the grand enchanter know that she was okay. Her eyes glanced over at the Inquisitor and saw where the woman was heading.
Soon enough, the younger blonde woman regained some of her courage and followed the leader of the inquisition. There were more stairs to ascend. It was like the incline indicated how difficult the fight was going to be and that only made her falter a bit. It was becoming increasingly more arduous for her to continue, but she had to keep pushing herself forward. As soon as Sirena made it to the top, she noticed there were stone pillars. Her eyes caught sight of the others jumping down off the broken stairs. Not wanting to risk hurting herself, the American carefully climbed down. Before she was even down, the others were already attacking or at least attempting to attack Corypheus. Her heart was pounding loud in her ears when the young woman finally made it to what looked like the last stand.
His focus was immediately set upon her yet again. He hit and pushed those that got in his way in a rather harsh manner just to get to her. While he was distracted with chasing her around, the others tried to keep up with him to continue their attacks. Instead of constantly running around like she was, Sirena turned around and faced him. There was determination in her eyes as she held her sword; she couldn’t run forever. As he lunged at her suddenly, she felt something burn into her arm as she barely avoided the dark magister. Her eyes glanced down at her wounded arm as the burning sensation grew worse. The outlander watched in pain and fury as blood came from the wound before her blue-green eyes snapped up at him. That was when she unleashed everything she was feeling. Not holding anything back anymore.
As Corypheus made a swing at her, she ducked under his swing and slashed her katana into his side. Sirena felt and impact that made her fall on her back as soon as he had hit. With his movements too slow, Vivienne made ice appear under his feet causing him to slip. It bought her some time. The outlander got up as fast as she was able to and slashed at his other side, but he caught her by surprise when he grabbed her wrist. A gasp left her lips. If he got the upper hand now it may be the end of her. She felt him squeeze her wrist with a vice tight grip which made her reflexively drop her weapon. With his other hand, he grabbed her by the neck making it hard for the American to breathe. “Ah… Finally… People will know your failure. This is your end.” While he acclaimed that it was her time to die, Sirena discreetly pulled out a dagger from the holster around her thigh. She knew he was going to kill her any second; the American had to act fast. With quick reflexes, she plunged her dagger into his neck just as he was reaching for her heart. With a sharp gasp, he released the young woman and she grabbed her sword while coughing before quickly backing away from the monstrosity the dark magister had become. “Not like this! I have walked the halls of the Golden City, crossed ages…” He sounded like he went back on a deal with Hades and was about to get dragged to hell. “Dumat! Ancient ones! I beseech you!” With anguish on her face, Evelyn the one with the real mark, raised her hand up. The look on his face was one of bewilderment since he had been duped the entire time. “If you exist- if you ever existed- aid me now!”
Somehow with the anchor in the Inquisitor’s hand, she was able to get the orb that he was holding move towards her. That seemed to have done the trick since Corypheus fell down onto his knees. He looked very much weakened. As everyone stood around, Evelyn raised her hand to the sky and closed the large breach. Sirena watched as she dropped the orb and walked over towards the enemy who hadn’t moved.
“You wanted to go into the fade?” From where the American stood, a green light surrounded Corypheus. One minute he was there then another he had disappeared. She felt like she knew where the Inquisitor sent him, into the fade with no way of coming back. As soon as Corypheus was gone, the castle began to fall even further apart. Rubble and boulders were falling. To prevent herself from getting squashed, she ran out. It seemed the others had the same idea for there were footsteps running along with her own. Sadly, the ruins were falling apart faster than she was able to run. In the end, Sirena fell from a great height and landed on something very hard. Her world turned black.
