"Doesn't look so intimidating."Anduin looked at Shalya and smiled. "You say that now."
"I said almost the same thing when I first saw Stormwind." Wrathion said, from Anduin's other side. "And he told me I'd get used to it."
"It's almost like Shattrath, just... Smaller. And without Horde." Shalya flexed her fingers, watching the approaching harbor grow closer.
Anduin laughed. "Don't let anyone hear you say that."
"I'm not afraid of what people will say. And if they want to fight, I'll gladly take them on."
"I'd rather you refrain from fighting in the streets." Varian growled lightly from behind the three teenagers. Behind him stood Shandris, who had her arms crossed over her chest and a slight scowl on her face. They gave both the night elf commander and the king sheepish smiles and Varian only shook his head with the deepest of sighs. Then he and Shandris moved away, toward the aft of the ship, pausing here and there to talk with this or that soldier. Anduin smiled as he watched his father, then looked at Shalya. She was watching him with a smile of her own.
"What?" Asked Anduin.
"Nothing. Only that I see much of him in you."
"Oh please," said Wrathion. "Our dear Prince Anduin is the complete opposite of his father. Always sees the best in people, can't even imagine betrayal, that sort of good priest thing."
Shalya raised a brow as she regarded Wrathion. "Well, if anyone intends to betray him, they'll find me waiting for them, and they won't like what I do to them. It'd be even worse if they tried to slip a knife between Anduin's ribs when his back is turned. I don't miss." She patted her bow.
Anduin was sure Wrathion lost two shades of color to his skin. "I wasn't saying I would do those things." He protested.
"A warning is a warning." Shalya replied, hooking her arm around Anduin's. Anduin just shook his head and sighed.
After the Alliance had gathered their dead and wounded, they had headed back to Stormwind through the Wetlands and through Ironforge, where Moira was surprised to find a veritable army on her doorstep looking to head home and heal. Varian had gone with the bulk of them, along with Jaina and Genn. Kari, Anduin, Wrathion, and Shalya had flown back to the Dark Portal, meeting up with Kalec, Shandris, and Dashiell halfway. Karidormi and Dashielk had flown off together after thanking everyone for their help in the crisis that had faced them. Kalec had then taken Wrathion, Anduin, Shandris and Shalya back with him to Stormwind, where they'd met up with Varian. Once Kalec assured Varian that he would see to it that Jaina would make it to Pandaria in time for the trial, the blue dragon had then left to make his way back home. Then Varian, Shandris, and the three teens had boarded a ship bound for Darnassus, to meet with Tyrande and assure her that Shandris was very much alive, and no, they hadn't planned to slip away without her. During their meeting, a Pandaren messenger in the garb of the Shado-pan had politely interrupted, and had told them that Taran Zhu was asking for their presence at the Temple of the White Tiger in Kun-Lai.
Thus, the teenagers, Varian, and Shandris had found themselves heading back to Stormwind, to prepare for the departure to Pandaria.
Anduin looked at Shalya. "I think you'll like Pandaria."
"Will I?"
"There won't be any battles to fight."
She arched a brow at him. "There's always battles to fight. Some just may not include actual weapons."
Anduin blinked. "You're considering going to the trial?"
Shalya laughed. "No. I can't sit still through stuff like that. As entertaining as it might be, I think I'd rather explore the land instead. You'll have Wrathion with you. I'm sure you'll be far from bored."
Anduin looked at Wrathion, who gave him an "I'm game" smile. Then the prince looked back at Shalya. "Oh, yes. Nothing like sitting in a courtroom listening to people scream for Garrosh's blood after what we all went through."
"You're both princes. Deal with it."
Both Wrathion and Anduin stared at Shalya for a moment, before a laugh bubbled up in Anduin's throat, breaking Wrathion's own tenuous control over his mirth. The two boys burst out laughing, leaving Shalya to color slightly in her cheeks and swat Anduin across the shoulder. Anduin grinned at her, pulled her a little closer, and ignored Wrathion's childish noise as he kissed Shalya lightly on the lips.
"I'm glad I met you." Anduin whispered to Shalya.
She smiled at him. "You say that now. Just wait. We're only fifteen."
"And we've been to war."
"Your father would say that doesn't count as making one an adult."
"My father has no say in who I want to date."
"No, but I'm sure he's glad you finally found someone to date, rather than spending all your time with a half-grown black dragon."
"Hey," Wrathion said, "standing right here. I can hear you."
Shalya smiled at him. "That's the point of me saying it."
Wrathion rolled his eyes. "Just don't start making out or anything."
Anduin sighed and shook his head, holding tightly to Shalya as he watched the harbor of Stormwind grow even closer. He felt Shalya wrap her arm around his waist and rest her head against his shoulder. "I wonder what we should call this little chapter in history."
"Mm. I already named it." Wrathion replied.
Both Anduin and Shalya looked at him in askance.
The Black Prince smiled. "Dawn of the Dragon, of course, to immortalize the return of the Aspect of the Black Flight, and the return of my kind in general. I'm not the last after all."
"No," said Shalya, "but you are the smallest."
"Tch. Details."
