Within moments, Kid and Dawn were both fully undressed. Dawn was leaning forwards in the backseat, turning on the radio of the Highwayman, Kid sitting on her left side with his arms around her, his right hand up to her right breast, his left down between her thighs. He was kissing her left shoulder, slowly moving over towards her chest, his eyes closed as he kissed along her soft skin. Dawn was smiling happily as she turned the radio through a few frequencies. Kid pulled his head away from her body a moment after a techno song started playing, Kid saying "Ooh, that one, that one sounds good!" Dawn raised an eyebrow, still smiling. "You like techno, Kid?" Kid nodded, saying "Yeah, I like the beat of it...Mmm..." He went back to kissing along her body, making his way over to her left breast, kissing along her supple skin. Dawn grinned a little, letting the radio be, sitting back a little more. Kid immediately took his arms from around her, diving his head down low, sticking his face down on her thighs, trying to get to her lower lips.
Dawn held back a laugh, Kid's actions reminding her of the stray dog she had fed on her trip to New Reno. She felt a little bad right after that thought crossed her mind, feeling bad over the thought of an animal coming to her mind from an action of Kid's. She felt almost like she had compared him to the dog. She suddenly felt the tip of his tongue run out just along the very top of her nether lips, not really getting to her, but getting pretty close to it. She gently moved her hands to his head, guiding his head up from her thighs with a soft touch, smiling as his face eventually came to level with her's. She gazed into his eyes for a moment, Kid looking back into her's, Kid smiling gently after a moment. He came closer to her, closing his eyes, kissing her lovingly. Dawn closed her eyes as well, kissing him back, the two of them kissing a few times before Dawn moved her left hand down to his member. He wasn't fully hard yet, but his touch greatly helped him along. He moved his left hand down between her thighs, Dawn spreading her legs slightly, letting Kid easily rub along her.
Sitting on his knees beside her, Dawn relaxing into the backseat, the two of them continued to kiss and rub one another for a minute or so. Once they were both fully aroused, Dawn smiled and said "Lie down, Kid...Let me be on top..." Kid blushed and nodded, the two of them moving around, Kid lying down on his back. Dawn crawled over him, sitting with her knees on either side of his chest, Kid's hands down on her juicy thighs. Her hips raised slightly, it only took her a moment to grasp him gently, rub the tip of him along her lips to help moisten him up a little with her juices, and then lower herself to quickly push him inside her tight depths. Dawn smiled happily, raising her hips slightly, bringing herself back down a second later, Kid letting out a light coo as her insides squeezed along him. Dawn quickly began to raise and lower her hips, keeping up a steady pace for a minute or so, warm pleasure slowly beginning to snake up through her body. Kid eventually said "Dawn, let m-me be on top..." Dawn began to speed up a little, smiling lustfully as she said "Are you sure? I can keep going..." Kid began to quickly sit up, gently pushing Dawn back, Dawn not fighting against him.
Lying on her back with her legs spread, Kid pressed his hands down into her massive twin peaks, feeling his fingers push into her soft loveliness. On his knees slightly, he closed his eyes and began to thrust back and forth, going rather quickly, surprising Dawn and causing her to gently moan out. Kid kept moving rather rapidly, his eyes shut tight, his breathing turning to heavy panting as he felt her muscles clench down on him in waves of pleasure. They were both beginning to sweat slightly, their bodies beginning to heat the interior of the vehicle. Eventually, Kid went into a burst of speed, Dawn realizing that he must have been close to cumming. "Inside, inside!" Dawn panted out. Dawn's climax came over her as Kid violently rammed himself as deep as he could into her for one final push, suddenly spewing his seed into her, Kid letting out a deep sigh as he rested down on Dawn. Dawn smiled contently, the two of them relaxing for a moment before Kid suddenly started moving, pulling his tool out of her moistness. Dawn raised an eyebrow as Kid crawled backwards, a grin on his face. Dawn blushed deeply as he brought his mouth to her wet lips, sticking his tongue out and quickly running it around her clit.
Her pleasure rapidly began to rise once more, Dawn shutting her eyes tight, moaning out softly. After a minute of Kid's loving licks, Dawn let out a moan, her eyes opening slightly. "Kid...Mmm, Kid!..." Dawn cried out softly, her orgasm coming closer, fire racing up along her skin from her loins. A few seconds later, Dawn let out a long and low moan, Kid feeling just a little bit of fluid squirt against the bottom of his tongue, Dawn cumming only a tiny bit of watery girl-cum. He crawled back up along her body, resting down on her fully, Dawn panting happily, a smile on her face. The two of them relaxed for several minutes, Dawn eventually reaching her arms around Kid, holding him close. Her left hand resting on his mid back, her right hand up to the back of his head and gently feeling through his short hair, she was smiling yet Kid was not. There was something on his mind, something rather important. He softly said "Dawn...I know how babies are made..." Dawn opened her eyes slightly, having had them closed. Kid gently said "They're made by...A guy cumming inside a girl...Right? I usually cum inside you...But you've never been pregnant."
Dawn raised her eyebrows, holding back a gentle chuckle, smiling more as she said "What, you want to get me pregnant, you want to bring a kid into this world?" Kid said "It's just that...Shouldn't you have gotten pregnant or something by now?...I'm just wondering..." Dawn kept smiling for a few moments before her face suddenly began to lose all warmth, the life dying from her face. She looked down towards his head without actually moving her own. "...No...It's never going to happen." Kid looked up to her face. He could see something was wrong, her expression was as clear as the day's sun. He sat up slightly, getting up from her. "What's wrong? What do you mean?..." He asked softly. Dawn was silent, simply looking up to him. They were both quiet for nearly a minute before Dawn sighed softly, saying "...I don't know any details...A long time ago, I went to a doctor to get checked for radiation sickness and any other ailments I might have, you know, a full check-up on my whole body...And..."
Dawn let out a gentle sigh, shaking her head slightly, looking down from Kid's eyes. "...As soon as I stepped out of the Auto Doc, the guy there said that the only thing wrong with me was that I was...Sterile...That means I can't have kids, Kid...Not ever..." Kid was a little surprised. Dawn looked back to his eyes. "At the time, I didn't really care much. But I still asked if the doctor knew how it was that I was sterile. He said it could've been anything...I could've been born with it already there, I could've spent too much time near too much radiation one day, I could've taken a bad drug or drink somewhere along the line...He didn't know..." Kid quietly asked "Don't you want to have a kid some day?..." Dawn thought for a moment before shaking her head, looking into Kid's eyes with a bit of a smile. "Nah." She said, sounding a little carefree. Dawn continued, saying "I'm not cut out to be a mother, Kid. I'm not the "mommy" type...I don't really like kids all that much, anyway. Too much trouble, too annoying. And besides..." Dawn looked over to the right, past the driver's side front seat and out through the windshield. Kid looked over, seeing nothing but the darkness of the wasteland's night beyond the glass.
"...Look at that world, Kid...It's not safe, it's not fun, it's not a place to raise a child. I wouldn't want to bring a new life into all that crap and dust." Kid chuckled lightly. All he had wanted to know was why Dawn was never getting pregnant, despite his many times cumming inside her; he really felt no desire to have a child, he was still a bit of a child, himself. He felt a little sad that Dawn could never have a child because, for all she knew, she may one day actually want to have a child. Kid knew Dawn was smart, probably much smarter than himself, so he figured she must have already thought of what was running through his head, about how she may want a child eventually. She may have been pushing it away, convinced she would never want one, and for all Kid knew she may truly never want one, but there was always the chance that she would. Her words put a smile on his face. Dawn smiled happily, sitting up slightly, raising her hands to either side of Kid's face, her soft chest pushing against his slightly. "Don't worry about me, Kid. I could see it in your face...You felt bad for me, right?" Kid nodded slightly, raising his hands to Dawn's elbows affectionately.
Dawn grinned a little. "It's not like I was ever planning on having kids and then my dreams were dashed away. It's not like I had one kid, planned on having two more, only to find out I was suddenly barren...I didn't lose anything I had experienced yet. I lost something I didn't even know what to do with yet, something I hadn't even started to care about yet. It's nothing big, don't feel bad for me." She laughed gently. "Means you'll be able to cum inside me all you want without worrying about me blimping out with a bun in the oven...There's a silver lining to everything, heh." Kid chuckled softly, Dawn lowering her hands from the sides of his head, running them down to his chest. The two of them looked into the others eyes for a few seconds before Kid inched his face a little closer to her's, closing his eyes a little.
Dawn came a little closer to him as well, closing her eyes just a little, smiling contently, waiting for his kiss. Kid came closer to her a second later, fully closing his eyes, pressing his lips to her's. Dawn closed her eyes, kissing him back, the two of them kissing a few times lovingly. When they finished, Dawn smiled happily, saying "Now, forget all about that, alright?...Let's get some sleep, I'm feeling pretty tired, babe..." Kid nodded, smiling happily, moving his arms up and around her neck slightly. The two of them settling down for the night, they rested in the nude under Dawn's trenchcoat, quickly getting into a relaxing position with one another. A moment later, Dawn said "I have to ask...What's up with your face?" Kid chuckled lightly before saying "Libby, she wanted to paint my face." Dawn smiled, saying nothing more, the two of them falling asleep in one another's arms only a minute or two later...
Dominique found herself standing in the middle of the wasteland, all alone. Although the sun shone strongly up above, the air around her wasn't as hot as it usually was, and the glare from the sun's rays wasn't as powerful as it usually was. Dominique looked left and right, not feeling confused in the slightest, feeling almost like she belonged where she was, only having just forgotten the reason why she belonged there. She was wearing her old reaver clothing; a totally black jumpsuit with metal plates kept in place over vital spots and joints, the plates coloured black like the actual jumpsuit. A gasmask on her head, the lenses to the goggles had been pulled out, and the material that had been between the goggles had been removed, creating a single visor for the girl to look through. A long, thin strip of red cloth was attached to her right shoulder, hanging down free behind her until it reached the back of her right thigh. She looked to the sky, gazing at it for a few moments before she heard footsteps approaching her from up ahead. She lowered her gaze, seeing the unmistakable form of Kid approaching her. His gray t-shirt, gray jeans, and equally gray shoes had long been dirtied with wasteland dust and grit, especially his shoes.
Dominique raised her hands to her head, grabbing her gasmask, pulling it from her body and dropping it to the ground. A large and happy smile was on her face. Kid began to grin joyously, walking towards her a little faster. Dominique began to run towards him, the two of them grabbing one another in their arms when they reached each other a few seconds later. Kid lifted her up in his arms, which was a little surprising to Dominique, as Kid was just a little bit shorter than her. He spun around in a circle, Dominique giggling slightly. He put her back down on her feet a moment later, but they remained close. Her hands on his shoulders, his hands on her hips, they gazed into one another's eyes for a moment before Dominique quickly brought her face closer to his, closing her eyes, kissing him passionately. He kissed her back, smoothing his hands around her waist to the small of her back, bringing her body a little closer to his. They kissed a few more times before they pulled away, releasing one another, simply standing close with smiling faces.
Kid raised his left hand to her face, Dominique closing her eyes, smiling more as he touched along the left side of her face, rubbing her cheek affectionately with his thumb. She felt like she was in heaven, it was almost unreal. Everything seemed right and pleasant. Feeling the print of his thumb rub along her skin, her eyes snapped open as a startled realization came over her. The scar on her left cheek, which reached from the left corner of her mouth to almost her ear, was gone. She slowly raised her left hand to her face, Kid pulling his hand back. Her mouth hung open slightly as she felt along her cheek. Her scar really was gone! She felt along the rest of her face. Her other two scars were gone, too. "That can't be..." Dominique murmured out. Kid smiled more. In a flash, Dominique suddenly realized that everything around her really wasn't real; in just the span of a second, she became aware that she was dreaming. She remembered falling asleep, she knew that nothing around her was true. Kid nodded, saying "Yeah, none of this is real..."
Dominique closed her mouth. Now that she was lucid, Dominique had control over what occurred in the world around her. Dominique smiled again, looking Kid in the eyes, saying "...I want this to last as long as it can..." Kid raised his hands to Dominique's shoulders, feeling over to either side of her neck, nodding as he murmured "Alright...We can do that, that's possible..." Dominique felt like she were back in heaven, although she was still aware that she was dreaming. Gazing into Kid's eyes, Kid gazing back into her's with his hands on either side of her neck, he slowly moved his face closer to her's, the both of them closing their eyes. He kissed her tenderly, Dominique feeling everything as if it were completely real, raising her hands to the sides of Kid's torso, feeling along the fabric of his shirt. The two of them kissed a few more times, neither of them seeming to think Dawn existed at all. The only thing standing alive and well in the wasteland was just him and herself; they stood tall and proud amid the destruction that had become of the world.
Dominique was aware of all this; to her, it was a rather romantic scene. She realized that she might've dreamt of this scene just because she found it romantic. Her eyes began to glimmer with moisture as Kid pulled his head back slightly. Looking to his eyes, she whispered "Kid...Je t'aime..." Kid smiled slightly. "I love you too..." He murmured. Dominique's bottom lip quivered, but she was smiling happily. The two of them kissed once more before hugging tightly, Kid's arms around Dominique's shoulders, Dominique's arms around Kid's waist. A single tear rolled down her right cheek, Dominique still smiling happily, the both of them closing their eyes as they embraced. The thought of eventually waking from her dream saddened her, but she found solace in the knowledge that she'd make use of every second she had with Kid...
Eight days passed. The NCR troops were just then coming close to New Reno. By then, the Scaled Hiss had completely and totally taken over New Reno, having destroyed any remaining pockets of resistance. Getting comfortable within it's new base, the Scaled Hiss were never expecting a force such as the NCR to come beating down on their heads. An NCR soldier named Arthur Lupino marched in a group of twenty other soldiers, those soldiers being only one platoon of many. President Tandi had sent two companies totalling two hundred and eighty soldiers for New Reno, the two companies having one hundred and fourty soldiers each. The companies were named Phantom and Razor; Arthur was part of Razor Company. Every single soldier was dressed in combat armour and armed with an assault rifle, usually an FN FAL or an M16A1, but others armed instead with sniper rifles and heavier weapons like grenade launchers were spread out among the numbers.
Arthur was one of the many nondescript soldiers armed with an assault rifle. His hair dark brown and scruffy, his face having a light layer of five o'clock shadow to it with his eyes being light brown. His body was tough and muscular, gained through the NCR's rough training regime. His combat armour was just like everyone else's; a black body suit affixed with dark green steel plates, the body suit flexible and able to dissipate heat easily as well as being lined with bulletproof material, the plates filled with even more bulletproof material. There was a large plate around every soldier's torso, as well as a separate one over the stomach and lower back for protection as well as mobility, the soldier still able to bend over thanks to the separated plates. Around every soldier's waist and thighs were belts with pockets for spare clips of ammo as well as medical supplies. Every soldier had large green plates on their shoulders, almost like pauldrons.
Plates went over the knees of every soldier, as well as around their calves. Every soldier was wearing a helmet, the helmet thick and quite protective, having a dark visor over the eyes for the soldiers to be protected from the sun's glare. Phantom and Razor Company began to drift apart, Phantom Company headed for the southern side of the city, Razor Company heading for the eastern side of the city. Beginning to enter the city's outskirts, Arthur and the platoon of twenty soldiers that he was in took a street, making their way down the street, moving around destroyed cars. Within a minute of walking, shots began to ring out from nearby streets, raiders suddenly appearing in the windows of nearby buildings. Arthur raised his gun, getting thrown into combat.
NCR soldiers got behind the destroyed cars in the street for cover, Arthur doing the same, bashing his shoulder into the rusted metal of the car as he hit it, having rushed into it for cover. Arthur realized that the cars were doing little for cover, as getting behind a car for cover from one side of the street still left one open to fire from the raiders in the buildings on the other side of the street. The combat armour on the soldiers was doing an excellent job of protecting their bodies, something the raiders could tell with no small amount of frustration. Arthur had been about to rush away from behind his cover, bullets whizzing through the air around him, when suddenly he heard a deep "smash". Nearby, a frag grenade had hit the car he was behind, falling down and sitting nearby. There were three soldiers nearby, and he knew the grenade was too close for their armour to stop completely; someone was going to get hurt in some small way. He grabbed the grenade, staying down while whipping it down the street as fast as he could, throwing down where the soldiers had come from originally, knowing that there weren't any more soldiers down there.
The grenade was still in the air as it exploded, deadly fragments flying everywhere yet finding nobody to harm. Arthur took three quick shots to his chest, the plate of his armour catching the bullets and stopping them. He heard someone call his name. "Artie! Artie!! Get the fuck over here!" He looked over in the direction of the voice. One of the nearby buildings had two soldiers standing by the open doorway, several others rushing within. The one that had called his name was Veronica, a girl he had been friends with during their training. Despite her generally icy demeanor, she had been nice to him enough times for him to consider her a friend. He rushed over, staying down as he ran, running up the short set of steps of the building. He ran past her into the building, Veronica and the other soldier running in a moment later. Veronica said "We're gonna take out the raiders on the third and fourth floor, alright? You up for it?" Arthur nodded, saying "Yeah, yeah. Let's do it." Veronica nodded, looking into his face from behind the dark visor of her helmet, saying "...Try not to get shot some more. Looks like you've already been hit a few times."
Arthur made a bit of an annoyed face. Veronica had always been like that; she'd tell him to do things like she were his mother, something that annoyed him. It was almost like she thought she was on a higher level than him in some way, like she was more important than he was. He knew she had another side to her, but she didn't show it as often as he'd like...Veronica snapped him out of his thoughts, raising a hand and smacking the side of his helmet, irritably saying "Quite staring at me like that, it's fucking creepy. Let's move, come on." Arthur rolled his eyes, following after her as she jogged towards a nearby doorway, a large set of stairs visible inside. The two of them began to rush up the stairs alone, everyone else already having gone up at least two flights, making their way to the third and fourth floors. "Don't let them up here! Blow the fucking stairs!!" The two of them heard the muffled voice of a raider up above. Amid the running footsteps, they heard several "clunks" as several small things were thrown down the stairs. The two of them were near the door to the second floor. "Come on!" Arthur said, bashing his shoulder into the door, smashing it open quickly.
Veronica ran in with him, explosions suddenly sounding out. The building shook. The stone of the stairs cracked heavily after one or two explosions, but several more continued, the stairs eventually breaking up into large chunks, falling down through the air. They both heard the cries of soldiers amid the explosions. The stairs between the second and third floors had been completely demolished, along with most of the stairs between the third and fourth floors. Veronica said "...There has to be to another staircase somewhere...Come on, let's check this floor, maybe on the other side of it there's some stairs?" Arthur nodded, the two of them quickly walking through the floor's hallways, searching empty room after room, looking behind door after door. Finally, on the farthest side of the floor, they found a locked door. Veronica pointed her FN FAL at the door's locked doorknob, firing two quick shots into it, breaking the knob and it's lock. Arthur raised a foot, kicking the door open, Veronica pointing her assault rifle in through the doorway as she walked through.
They both saw a small set of what must have been emergency stairs, almost like a fire escape. The stairs went from the first floor to the fourth, the two of them jogging up the stairs, making their way to the third. "Clear out the third before going to the fourth?" Veronica whispered, looking over to Arthur as her question passed between her lips. Gunfire sounded out on the third floor, echoing through the hallways, coming from the far side of the level as well as rather close-by. Arthur nodded quickly. They found the door to the third floor locked, just like the one on the second floor. Arthur raised his assault rifle, smashing the butt of it down into the doorknob, smashing the knob off after three quiet hits. He pushed the door open, walking through the doorway, Veronica following. The hallway they were in went forward for a bit before splitting off to the left and right, the wall up ahead being lit up multiple times a second from gunfire. The two of them quickly walked down the hall, looking to the left and right when they reached the end. To the right was an empty room that led no-where else, but to the left was a room with another doorway, leading off somewhere.
More importantly, however, was that there were three raiders standing at a window each, firing down into the street, totally oblivious to the two of them. Arthur looked to Veronica. She nodded at him, raising her assault rifle. Arthur raised his own. Veronica let out a loud whistle. A nearby raider paused momentarily, looking over his shoulder with confusion on his face. Veronica let out a burst of bullets, the raider crying out as his blood was sent through the air, his body falling through the window. Arthur opened fire on the other two raiders before they could react, killing one, wounding another. Veronica finished the raider off, his body slumping down in the corner of the room. "Stay away from the windows, we might get shot at, the guys in the street might not realize who we are right away." Arthur looked upwards for a moment in annoyance, looking back down a second later. "There she goes again," he thought. "Trying to tell me what to do. As if I didn't know to stay away from the windows." He walked past her, heading over to the nearby doorway. It led to a hallway, the hallway showing several more raiders standing at several more windows.
The closest two raiders had seen the others perish, pointing their rifles over and opening fire at Arthur. Arthur took a good four shots before Veronica pulled him back through the doorway. "Fucking dumbass! What did I tell you about getting shot?!" Veronica bellowed. Arthur angrily said "Chill the fuck out, you're acting as if I'm not wearing armour!" Veronica seemed a little subdued by his reply, saying "...I was worried, alright? No need to get pissed at me..." Arthur looked at her with annoyance, saying "You gonna help me kill these guys or what?" Veronica nodded, saying "Yeah, of course. Let's hit 'em." Arthur jumped into the doorway, Veronica staying beside the doorway, crouching down and firing around the corner. They both quickly put down the closest three raiders before Arthur ran out of bullets, jumping behind cover, getting on the doorway's other side. That was when the rest of the raiders grew aware of the intruding soldiers. Arthur ejected the empty magazine from his rifle, letting it fall to the ground without a care, opening a pouch on his belt, grabbing another magazine. He popped it into the weapon's frame, Veronica then running out of bullets, herself.
He leaned over and into the doorway, firing rapidly, the raiders all trying to rush out of the hallway to get behind cover. The majority of the raiders seemed to lack any form of decent armour, the armour they did wear being totally unsuited to stopping bullets. Arthur put down another two raiders before the last four ran through a doorway on the far end of the hall, getting behind cover. Suddenly, shots rang out, the raiders panicking as other people started shooting at them. Arthur glanced at Veronica, Veronica looking back over to him from the corners of her eyes. They saw blood splash out, bodies falling over. There was silence for a few moments before several sets of rushing footsteps came towards the doorway. The both of them raised their rifles, seeing three NCR soldiers rush through the doorway with a few beyond. "Hold it!" One of them called out quickly. One of them lowered his rifle, smiling, saying "Glad to see somebody else made it out of there alive. How the hell are you guys coming from over there, though?"
Arthur and Veronica lowered their guns, the rest of the NCR soldiers on the other side of the hallway doing the same. "Fire escape over here or something. We jumped on the second floor before the stairs went, and we found another staircase." One of the soldiers nodded at Arthur's words, saying "We could get to the fourth floor that way." Veronica asked "Is the rest of the third floor clear? Are you guys all that survived the bombs?" The three soldiers approached them, another four coming from the room beyond a moment later. The leader of the group nodded. "The floor's clear, if you got these guys. We're the only ones that got out of the stairs, yeah...The rest were either blown apart of buried under chunks of stone. If there are any survivors, we can try to get them out once this building's clear." Veronica nodded, Arthur saying "C'mon, let's hit the guys on the fourth floor. Follow us, we'll show you guys where the staircase is." The soldiers all nodded, Arthur and Veronica turning and walking off, the soldiers following silently.
The nine of them headed up the stairs, making their way to the fourth floor. When they reached it, they found the door, just like the other two, locked. Veronica smashed off the knob with the butt of her rifle, like Arthur had done for the door to the third floor. They found themselves in a small room, two doorways leading elsewhere, one on the left side of the room, one on the far side. One of the soldiers said "Alright kids, take it easy, we'll make our way through this, you guys can be our support." Arthur resented being called a "kid"; he was eighteen, Veronica was nineteen, neither of them were kids. He could tell by the look on Veronica's face that she didn't like being called a kid, either. The soldier that the two of them had spoken with on the third floor said "Wise up, Henry. They're on our side, and they made their way through part of the third floor. Don't be a prick." The soldier named Henry said "Feck the kids, feck these raiders, feck it all." One of the other soldiers sighed impatiently. "Can we get a move on?" She said.
The lead soldier nodded, saying "Yeah. There are nine of us, so four head through one doorway, and the other five head through the other. Emily, Jamie, go with these two guys. The rest of us with head through the closest doorway, you four go through the one on the far side of the room." Arthur and Veronica saw the girl that had asked if everyone could continue walk over beside them along with a man. The lead soldier and his group walked over to the closest doorway, shots sounding out from the raiders on the floor, still firing out into the street seemingly without any knowledge of what happened on the third floor. Arthur led his group over to the doorway on the far side, looking through. There was nothing but another empty hallway, the hallway having a doorway at the middle of it's length on the left side, as well as a left turn at the end of the hallway. Arthur and his group quickly walked down the hallway, stopping at the doorway on the left of the hall. Arthur peeked around the doorway, seeing three raiders to be lounging around, simply drinking from a few bottles of beer, not even talking to one another.
Arthur looked over and nodded at Veronica, holding up three fingers. She nodded in understanding, the rest seeing the same symbol from Veronica, those two nodding in understanding. Arthur jumped to the other side of the doorway, pointing his rifle in through the doorway. Veronica and the girl named Emily pointed their rifles in as well, the three of them opening fire. They quickly pushed the three raiders into an early departure from life, their bullets acting like little reapers. The man named Jamie walked past the three of them, heading to the end of the hall, looking around the corner. Veronica walked into the room that housed the raiders that the group had just slain. Looking around, she saw nothing of interest, walking back out. Gunfire began to sound out rapidly from the other side of the floor. When Jamie reached them, he said "Maxwell and the rest must have found the raiders...Anyway, there's another hallway, and it leads to another room. I could see a window in the room, so it must be where the shooters are." Veronica said "Come on then, let's move!" Veronica began to jog down the hallway, Arthur following her, Emily and Jamie rushing along, as well.
They all went around the corner of the hallway, running down the next hall, making their way towards the room up ahead. When they reached it, they saw three raiders standing in front of a doorway, firing into it. Their windows were totally unattended. Arthur, Veronica, Emily, and Jamie instantly began to open fire, spraying bullets at the raiders, killing them. "Emily? Jamie? That you guys?" Emily called out "Yeah, it's us. Don't shoot." The four of them lowered their guns, walking deeper into the room, seeing the rest of the soldiers walking into the room, as well. The leader of them said "Well, this is it. One side of the street is clear. Hopefully somebody got the same idea as us and tried getting into the buildings on the other side." Veronica said "I hope so. Maybe a sniper took some of them down?" Emily said "If they were smart...Which a lot of people aren't." The leader said, in a rather flat and serious tone, "Emily, stop being a bitch. Seriously. Now's not the time." Emily seemed a little stunned. Jamie and a few others held back a chuckle. Even Veronica was hiding a smile. Emily's face turned dark, looking off to the side, saying nothing. "Nice, Maxwell." One of them said, naming the leader.
Maxwell walked over to a nearby window, peering through it, seeing the combat in the streets to still be going on, however it wasn't as strong as it used to be. A soldier armed with a sniper rifle was doing her best at taking down the raiders in the windows up above, firing at any she saw in the buildings on the other side of the street. The building that Arthur and the rest were in was the only one that had raiders to it on that particular side of the street. Veronica took in a deep breath of musty air before sighing softly. Maxwell said "Alright...Let's get back down to the first floor and get across the street. Then we can-" He was cut off, a raider across the street firing at him from a window, hitting him in the chest with two bullets. His armour caught the shots, but he could still faintly feel the impact of the bullets, looking to the raider with annoyance. He raised his rifle, firing off five quick shots, missing with the first two, hitting the raider with the other three. Having killed the raider, he got behind cover once more, saying "Alright, now...As I was saying...We get across the street and get in one of the other buildings. We tell some of the others to do the same for the other buildings, and once the street's clear, we make our way farther down and keep going into the city. Got it?" Everyone nodded, making their way down the halls, heading for the staircase once more.
Simone Cole was part of Phantom Company, a skilled sniper that had been quite welcome among the ranks of the NCR. She was twenty-two, dressed in the same combat armour as everyone else, a DKS-501 sniper rifle in her arms, a Browning HP pistol in a holster over her right hip. She and the rest of the soldiers in her platoon had already cleared two streets, moving deeper in for a third. The other platoons had cleared their streets as well, quickly scanning nearby areas for any raiders before moving deeper into the city. Simone felt she was perfect for the role of a sniper; she knew she was quite introverted, she disliked having to speak to anyone about anything, and she truly hated it whenever anyone tried to touch her in even the most innocent way. Unlike most others, she loved being completely by herself, which meant she was perfect for the job of hiding somewhere alone for perhaps hours on end, waiting until the perfect moment to fire a shot. Her dirty blonde hair tied into cornrows, her dark blue eyes scanned the windows of the buildings nearby, wary of enemy snipers.
She walked along with the rest of her platoon, not a single one of her comrades having fallen yet. Suddenly, she spotted several small objects fly from windows nearby, Simone instantly ducking behind a nearby car, saying nothing to alert anyone else. She didn't have to, however, as another soldier cried out "Incoming!!" The soldiers ducked behind cover quickly, the grenades all going off one after another, peppering out blasts of shrapnel. A soldier who hadn't gotten behind cover fast enough was hit with multiple shards from the grenades, falling over on his back. Although injured, he wasn't dead; most of the shrapnel had been caught by his armour, but a few pieces had torn through the body suit and gotten to his skin. A medic grabbed the soldier, pulling him behind the cover of a car before beginning to treat him. Simone pointed her sniper rifle at the buildings nearby, looking for any sign of the enemy. After a few seconds, raiders appeared in the windows, firing down into the street. Simone unflinchingly fired shot after shot, quickly taking down four raiders before the rest began to notice her. Getting behind cover once more, bullets whizzed around her, crashing into the car she was behind.
The rest of the soldiers began to fire up into the windows, getting the attention of the raiders rapidly. When things were clear for Simone again, she began to fire her sniper rifle once more, taking down the rest of the raiders in the building she had started with. She turned her attention to the building nearest to her, firing up into the windows, killing a few raiders before bullets began to fly her way again. She could hear a raider shout out "Take down that fucking sniper!!" The NCR soldiers were trying to get the attention of the raiders again, but they were determined to kill Simone, seeing her as the greatest threat. Simone took the opportunity to reload her rifle, staying behind cover as bullets flew towards her continuously. She focused on a window where she heard shots coming from quickly, thinking of how she'd have to aim her sniper rifle in order to get a bullet through the window. She leaned to the side quickly, taking a fraction of a second to aim, not even peering through the scope of her rifle. She fired two shots, the first whizzing past the head of a raider in a far-off window, the second one tearing through the raider's chest, killing her.
Simone put another two bullets into her rifle, keeping it at full capacity, it's maximum amount of ammunition being six bullets. "Cole!" She heard a man shout her name. She looked over. A man was waving for her to come over. The car he and several others were behind was safe from attacks from behind, as Simone had cleared the building behind it not long before. Simone shook her head, bullets still rocketing towards her every second. The man said "We'll cover you, come on!" Simone glanced towards the building beside the car she was behind, the raiders in the windows still firing down at her. The soldiers all began to fire at the building behind her, forcing the raiders to get behind cover. Simone took the opportunity to race over to the rest of her platoon, getting behind a car near the edge of the rest of them.
The soldiers took cover to reload, Simone secretly aiming through a busted door of the car she was behind, seeing the raiders appear in the windows once more, firing down into the street. Many of them were firing down at where they thought Simone still was, not realizing that she had left her spot for another. She fired three shots, killing three raiders, the rest of them realizing where she had gone to, hearing the loud booms of her rifle over the general din of combat. They started firing at her once more, the soldiers covering her with their own fire, the soldiers taking down the last of the raiders. The section of street they were all in was now clear, but raiders were still in one or two buildings farther down the street. The soldiers all got up, starting to head down the street, Simone staying at the back of the group.
Arthur kicked in a door, several raiders in the room beyond scrambling around in surprise. Arthur opened fire, quickly taking down two raiders, a third pulling out a desert eagle and opening fire on Arthur. Two bullets hit him in the stomach, another hitting him in his left thigh, just above his armour plates but below the plate over his stomach, managing to bust through his armour. Arthur let out a grunt of pain, firing at the raider that had shot him, emptying his magazine into him. A fourth raider jumped out from a nearby room, firing at Arthur with a submachine gun. Arthur took a few shots before Veronica jumped into the room, spraying at the last raider, killing him quickly. Arthur had taken another bullet into his right arm, near his elbow. Other soldiers rushed past the two of them, heading deeper into the building they were all storming. Arthur sat down and put his back against the wall that had been beside him, Veronica looking to him and seeing him to be wounded. "Arthur!" She said worriedly, getting down beside him. "You were shot...Just relax, let me pull out one of my stimpacks..."
Her tone of voice had changed drastically, she sounded deeply worried and spoke gently. "Here it is, the side she doesn't show often is coming out...She's so different when she's like this..." Veronica pulled open one of the pouches on her belt, pulling out a stimpack. She grabbed his left hand, turning it over so the underside was facing her. She pulled on his sleeve just enough for his wrist to be revealed, pulling the plastic sheath off of the needle of the stimpack a moment later. Arthur said "I can handle it from here, thanks..." Veronica gave him a frosty look. "Shut up. Let me do this." Arthur raised his eyebrows, looking off to the side, sighing slightly before saying "Alright, whatever...Jeez..." Veronica calmed down, apologetically saying "...Sorry...I'm just worried, is all..." Arthur said "Pfft. I can't see why." Veronica rolled her eyes gently, but said nothing more. She pushed the needle of the stimpack into a vein on his wrist, Arthur wincing for a moment, saying "Damn, no need to do it so fast!" Veronica smiled, but she said "Sorry, heh..." Arthur glanced between her face and his wrist.
She held his hand with her left, holding it in such a way that her fingers were on the back of his hand, her thumb over his palm, keeping his arm twisted slightly. She pushed the needle a little deeper into him, the stimpack firing it's medicine into him, Veronica then pulling the stimpack away from him, tossing it off to the side. She continued holding his hand for a moment before slowly releasing, pulling back. She said "...When this is all done, we can have the bullets removed. Until then though, you'll be fine." Arthur nodded, saying nothing. Veronica raised her eyebrows, saying "Well...Let's get a move on. We can't sit here all day. Get up." Her icy demeanor oozing back to the surface, Arthur simply said "Yeah, alright." Veronica helped him up, Arthur quickly reloading his gun, Veronica walking off through a nearby doorway. Arthur took one last look around the room, glancing at the corpses in the room before following after Veronica, heading through the doorway she had left through.
