Chained chapter 5
Blue slipped in and out of dreams, of waking nightmares, and
if not for that constant drip he wouldn’t have been able to tell if he was awake
or not. In his dreams memories replayed as nightmares, Reds face replaced by
Shadows, and awake it was just the same. The pain of his rape, Reds hands
holding back his legs, …drip……..drip…………….drip……….., then he was
asleep again. It felt like days he had
lain there, staring with blurred vision at the wall at back of the dungeon. His
mind wouldn’t let him rest, tears would suddenly fall and he’d grab his head,
squeezing it tight as if to squeeze out those torturous thoughts, his tormented
cries echoing against the dungeon walls. He couldn’t get rid of them; Shadow
tormented him in his dreams as well awake, that sadistic laugh replaying over
and over again in his mind, a laugh with Reds face.
After a while his body began to feel strange. At one point
Blue had tried to drag himself over to the wall, the long chain around his neck
allowing him to move a short distance before he retched violently, his stomach
convulsing as he spat out nothing but stomach acid, which stung against his
lips and tongue. His body felt so hot, as if it had never lost the virus of
heat Shadow had given him under Reds appearance. But Blue didn’t care what his
body was doing, didn’t care about the sweat that seemed to be gathering in
beads all over his skin, he was too preoccupied with his own brain. He wanted
to tear it out his head and throw it far away, to claw out the dark memories,
to find his own sweet little Red again. He needed, desperately needed to find that one smiling face to hold on to, to
keep that one little spec of light that was Red in his mind. But he couldn’t find it, everything was
tainted, was smudged, had Shadows darkness embedded onto it.
There was a voice somewhere, a deep, gruff voice, but it
sounded somewhat muffled to Blues ears, like that cotton wool was back again.
“Eat.”
Blue didn’t want to eat, didn’t want to move, he just wanted
to scream.
“Eat, or I hurt you.”
No, Blue thought
quietly in his own mind. He didn’t want food, he wanted his Red back.
A large rough hand was suddenly on his forehead, but it
wasn’t hurting him like the voice had said.
“Get Shadow.” The voice mumbled to itself, and Blue fell asleep
again.
Swirls of darkness surrounded Blue in his dreams, burying
him, suffocating him, one hand reaching out towards Red who just stood there
staring at him, watching him as he called out for help, Shadows smirk growing
wide on his lips…
Suddenly Blue was jerked awake. Another hand was on his forehead, but this
was a much smaller, softer, delicate hand.
“He’s feverish. His wounds have become infected.”
It was a woman’s voice, such a harmonious and soft sound, it
was beautiful. Blue tried to pry open
his eyes, his vision swirling as he tried to make sense of the blurry images
before him.
“Will he live?” Shadows dark blurred outline loomed above
him, the woman kneeling next to him, her beautiful violet eyes standing out
against the blackness.
“Yes. I will need to clean and treat these wounds though, and
this dungeon is disgusting. I can clean
these wounds as much as you want but they’re just going to get re-infected. This entire floor needs to be washed.”
“YOU!” Shadow exclaimed, startling
Blue and making him flinch, the woman’s eyes upon him as she felt him move, “Go
get a mop and bucket and clean up this place.”
“Yes Master.” It was that same gruff voice again, and Blue
finally recognised it as a Hinox.
“I have to go.” He heard Shadow say, “He is not to leave
this dungeon. Make sure he doesn’t die, if he does I’ll put you in his place..” Shadow growled at her, and Blue felt the chain around
his neck disappear back into the stone, freeing him, but Blue had no energy to
move.
Shadows footsteps led away from them, and Blue was left alone
with this pretty woman, her long blond hair draping over her shoulders, but a
concerned frown to her face which Blue saw as his vision became a little bit
clearer for just a moment.
“He needs proper food and water, he’s dehydrated.” She
mumbled to herself as her hands gently touched along Blues skin and wounds,
pulling back blood stained bits of tunic that lay encrusted against his skin.
“Who are you?” Blue asked, his quiet
voice so rough and crackly it barely came out as understandable words.
“Shhh,” she said gently, her
fingers running over his thigh that Shadow has pierced with his nails, the five
wounds looking rather green and definitely infected, “You need to rest. You
there!” she suddenly yelled, looking behind her to another Hinox,
“I need you to go into the kitchens and bring down some hot food, freshly
cooked meat, vegetables, soup is good, and pails of fresh water. I also need a bucket of soapy water and a
towel. And fetch me some large thick blankets as well, he needs to stay warm.”
The Hinox frowned and snarled at
her, “He not a guest.”
“He is sick!” she shouted
at it, her eyes holding a fierce glare, “He needs hot food, warm blankets and
plenty of water. Go and get them. Or do
I have to tell Shadow how you stood there and watched him die?”
The fear in the Hinoxes eyes at
those words got him moving quickly as it ran up the stairs, another Hinox coming down with a mop and bucket of water as Shadow
had ordered, entering the dungeon and beginning to clean away the filth.
“Blue, listen to me.” the woman said gently as she opened a
bag she had with her, removing bandages and small vials of ointments, “You’re
ill, your body is very weak. It’s suffered through a lot and it’s finally taken
its toll. I need you to let me help you.
I will do as much as I can as gently as possible, you’ll have to trust me. I
need to remove your clothes first so I can look at your wounds. I’ll then clean
and treat them and wash you down to get rid of any remaining infections. I will stay and help you eat and drink, and
there will be blankets that I’ll wrap around you. You must keep warm to break
this fever. Now do you understand
everything I’ve just told you?”
Blues mind was drifting, floating. She had such a pretty
voice, so comforting, the only comforting thing he’d heard for such a long time. He heard her muffled words, and although he
wasn’t really sure if they made sense, he nodded very gently. They felt like
such kind words, he’d forgotten what kindness sounded like.
And so the slow and sometimes painful process began, Blue
still slipping in and out of consciousness, Shadow’s red eyes teasing him
behind his closed eyelids. Every time he woke up he could feel the woman
touching him tenderly, the sound of dripping water as she rung out a wet cloth,
the soft sound of bandages being unwrapped.
Small shots of pain made their way to Blues clouded mind from his thigh,
where she had to be a little more forceful to clean the infected wounds. He
thought he felt her stitching them up before wrapping a bandage tightly around
his leg.
He was awoken again a short time later when she was tending
to the blood dried between his legs. He could feel his nakedness, his tattered
clothes in a pile to one side, and immediately his mind flashed those horrid
images in front of his eyes, but this time he told himself no. No to the
memories, this woman was helping him, not hurting him. No to
the pain. He fell asleep.
He now awoke to the feel of her washing him, every inch of
skin with warm, soapy water, that fresh soapy smell reminding Blue of fresh
spring mornings. His skin was crying out in silent thank you’s,
thanking this mysterious woman for making it clean again. With the water that
remained she even washed his hair, and Blue could feel himself melting into the
heavenly feeling. He fell asleep.
Once again he awoke as he felt himself being pulled across
the floor so the Hinox could clean where he’d been lying. The woman had pulled him onto a blanket near
the wall, and he let his limp form be pulled upwards to a sitting position as
she wrapped another blanket around his shoulders, gently turning him to lean
his back against the wall.
Something hot, something in liquid form was being pressed
against his lips with a spoon. It smelt like chicken, freshly cooked chicken,
the delicious smell awakening his long dormant senses. He opened his mouth idly, and the spoon with
the fresh chicken soup on it tipped forward, letting that wonderfully warm
nourishment slide down his throat to his empty stomach.
He was sure he kept on falling asleep between mouthfuls, his
dreams now became dreams of food, pushing away the dark thoughts for a while.
He kept hearing the woman’s voice, clearer now, telling him to open his mouth,
passing small vegetables into it, telling him to chew them.
He was getting warmer now, could feel his belly filling with
hot food, the blanket around his shoulders and the one across his legs, which
he just realised was there, keeping that warmth inside
him. For the first time in a while he moved his own body, moved his arms and
fingers to weakly grab a hold of the blanket around him, clinging to it,
pulling it feebly tighter around himself.
Fresh water was passed over his lips, and he gulped it down, feeling his
mind clearing on every mouthful.
“Here, drink this medicine, it will
help now you’ve had something to eat.”
Something horribly bitter slid down his throat, and he
choked, coughing, the woman holding his arm firmly waiting for it to subside. She made him drink the rest of the medicine,
before continuing to feed him.
“Thank…you…” Blue found himself whispering, his eyes peering
open, seeing those violet orbs beside him.
The woman smiled kindly, “You’re welcome.”
----
Blue didn’t know how long this had been going on for, it could have been hours, days, weeks for all he knew. All
he did know was that every time that woman came down those stairs with another
fresh hot meal, Blue had this uncontrollable urge to fling his arms around her
and hold her, to thank her, thank her for being the only kindness he’d felt,
thank her for making him feel stronger again. Blue even smiled at her as she
entered his dungeon, cuddled up warmly underneath his blankets.
His mind seemed to have blanked out his second rape. As time had gone by he seemed to forget
almost everything, a blissful ignorance flittering across his features. He’d
even forgotten Red, because thinking of Red led to Shadow, and thinking of
Shadow led to awful things. His mind had put up a barrier to block everything out, it was a form of protection, because being blissfully
ignorant felt far better than remembering the truth. Behind the barrier was the
darkness, in front of it was this woman, the woman that kept his torturous
dreams at bay, kept him preoccupied with the kindness she showed him, and the
wonderfully tasty food that came with her. An unknown part of him was aching
for thoughts of Red, but after suffering so much, Blue didn’t even seem to
release it. His mind and body had been taken prisoner by compassion now, his
mind wonderfully overthrown as his senses reached out to this warmth.
“Will you ever tell me your name?” Blue asked, as the woman
knelt down beside him. She smiled.
“My names not important. Here, its beef stew.” She said, holding up a
fork of meat for Blue to eat.
Blue obediently took the meat and swallowed it, looking upon
her with such endearing eyes. It wasn’t
love, no….no he loved someone else, though he couldn’t remember who right now.
It was just a look of such gratitude, but somewhere, somewhere deep inside him
locked away behind that barrier, was the terrifying thought that once he was
better, Shadow would come back. Shadow
would hurt him again. Shadow…Shadow….
Blue already felt better.
“I tried to ask Shadow for some new clothing for you,” she
said as she finished feeding him, “but he refused. I’m afraid you’ll have to keep the blankets
around you. He’s…” she paused, fear for Blue in her
voice“…he’s coming down after I’ve gone.”
“Shadow?” Blue blinked, smiling innocently
“Who’s Shadow?”
The woman smiled back at him sadly. She never had the heart
to tell him about the glazed look that his eyes had held ever since she’d come
to help him. It was a sign of a deep
denial, a deep mental block, refusing to accept and live with what had been done
to him. It was a common side-effect of rape, temporary memory loss as the mind
tries to deal with the horror it had gone through.
Blue couldn’t understand why she looked so sad. He might not have been able to remember why
he was locked down here, but it didn’t matter. Because she was here, she was
bringing him smiles and food and happiness.
The woman took a deep breath, as if to calm her nerves
before she spoke, “Blue…there’s something I need to warn you about. Physically
you’re much better now, and that’s why Shadows coming back down here. I know you don’t remember who that is,” she
said at the confused frown on Blues face, “but you will remember, and it won’t be a nice memory.” She reached out to
cup Blues cheek, smiling sadly, her voice soft but mournful, “I just wanted you
to know, that not everyone hates you. I’m a doctor, I
know what it’s like for soldiers to be out in the field. I know you all tried.”
She leant across and placed her warm cheek against Blues, whispering in his ear,
a small blush coming to Blues cheeks despite the confusion over her words. She
was so pretty and nice.
“And I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what Shadow has done to you.
What he will do to you. I’m sorry.”
Ever so gently she kissed his cheek, and as she pulled away
a tear was falling down her own. Blue
looked at her strangely, he….he didn’t understand. What was happening? Who was
Shadow? His own voice was screaming behind his barrier: SHADOW! SHADOW! BRING MY RED BACK TO ME BRING HIM BACK!!!!
But he didn’t hear it.
The woman stood, clutching the empty bowl. She looked down
at Blue so forlornly, “This is the last time I’ll see you Blue.” She whispered,
before turning around and walking slowly towards the door.
The last time? Blues eyes widened
in panic, what did she mean the last time?
“Wait…” he called out softly, his arm rising from his
blankets as she walked away. He didn’t want her to leave, he wanted her to
stay.
Shadow suddenly walked into view.
The woman stopped, fear in her eyes as he walked slowly in
front of her with a dark smile. “Is he better now?” he asked darkly, and the
woman paused, staring back at him, and as if it was the most terrifying thing
for her to do, she nodded her head.
“Yes, he is well again.” She whispered dejectedly.
Now Blue was better, Shadow would hurt him again.
“Good.” He said, “Now get out and don’t come down here
again.”
She nodded, her eyes glancing briefly at Blue before she
hurried up the stairs.
Blue stared at Shadow as he walked into the dungeon. He knew that face...knew it from
somewhere…there was a voice at the back of his mind screaming at him, screaming
something he couldn’t understand. It was
a terrified voice, but he didn’t know wh-…tears. Had
he been crying in here before?
“Hello Blue.” Shadow smiled, his fangs bearing as Blue
stared up at him bewildered, “Enjoyed your little vacation time?”
Tears, tears and….pain. There was
another name that kept popping into his mind as he stared up at this being,
another name…what was it…
“Well sorry, but your vacation’s over.”
The dark chains shot out from the floor and wrapped
themselves around Blues wrists, pulling him across the floor away from his warm
blankets, pinning him down naked to the floor on his front just like he’d been
before.
Blues eyes were wide and fearful, what was going on? Who was
this person? What happened to the soft blankets and the violet eyes?
Shadow pressed his boot into Blues back, bent over and
grinned saying, “I hope Red’s been keeping you company.”
Then the barrier in Blues mind lifted.
Suddenly every dark thought, every tainted memory, every recollection
of pain, humiliation and fear flooded his mind. Reds name, it was Red he’d been
trying to think of, Red and-…NO! Not the red eyes, not on the one he loved! Stop
it, go away, bring his Red back. STOP SMILING LIKE
THAT!
“Shadow!” Blue exclaimed, eyes
narrowing in a venomous rage, fear clawing at his throat.
“Ahh so you do remember me, I was beginning to think you’d finally lost your
mind.” Shadow laughed, walking around him.
“Is Red here?!” Blue immediately demanded, fighting back the
corrupted Red in his mind who was still laughing at him.
He was stronger now, fed and watered and healed, he could
beat Shadow, he could overcome what Shadow had done to him, he
would!!! He’d find that innocent Red
in his mind, he’d get him back. He would not
let Shadow win!!
“Tell me if Red’s really here! Did you capture him? Is he
alive?!”
That woman had shown him a kindness he so sorely needed, let
his mind and body rest, and he felt stronger than ever now. He may have cried,
he may have broken down in front of Shadow, may have done the one thing he’d
promised himself he’d never do, but it wasn’t over yet. He’d find his Red in
his memories, but first, he had to know, he had to ask again if Red was here.
Was he alive?
Shadow stopped walking at his question and smirked, before
kneeling down on the floor on his hands and knees and leaning down over Blues
face. “You may or may not remember,” Shadow whispered, “But you told me that
knowing if Red was alive or not was the only thing that concerned you down
here, when you were holding me so delicately
in your arms,” he laughed, and Blue winced gritting his teeth, that memory of
Red in his arms fake and unwanted, “So do you reeeally
think, that I’m going to tell you the one thing that you want?”
“WHERE IS HE?!” Blue hollered angrily, ignoring the
humiliation of his nakedness, ignoring the evil images his mind was plaguing
him with. He had to know, he had to know where his Red was! Both in his mind
and in reality, he needed that light to cling on to again, to know if holding
on for survival was worth it. Was Red out there waiting to be with him again?
But Shadow just laughed. He always laughed.
“I knew there was
still fight left in you.” He grinned joyfully, practically bouncing up to his
feet again “Which is very good because right now you look far too healthy for my liking.” He pushed the tip of his boot into
Blues bandaged thigh, Blue breathing in a hiss of pain at the touch. Having been the most infected wound his thigh
still hadn’t quite healed. “I want to get you back into the state you were
before your illness, and quickly too. So of course, your little gourmet meals
will stop, it’ll be back to the scraps, hope you don’t mind?”
Shadow couldn’t stop grinning, he sounded excited, and a disturbing
worry ate away at Blues mind of why that was?
“You see Blue,” Shadow said eagerly, “all this time you’ve
been ill I’ve been denying myself the amusement of coming to see you. When you die it will be when I’m bored with
you, and I’m not bored with you yet, so I couldn’t have you dying on me. But
you know, being away from you has given me time to
think. Think of other ways to humiliate you, and this time, I’m going to sit
back, relax, and watch.”
What the hell did that mean?
Shadow walked out of his vision and Blue suddenly heard the
scraping of wood against the stone floor somewhere behind him, so he lifted his
head from the floor and turned to look to the dungeon bars, resting his head
back down now on his other cheek. Shadow
was sitting on a chair the other side of the bars, and behind him, were two
very large Hinoxes and three Hylians. The Hylians looked
liked rogues, looked like they enjoyed being on the dark side, blood splattered
on their armour, rugged faces and scars across the muscles on their arms. There was a low disturbing murmur of laughter
amongst them, their eyes glistening excitedly as they looked at Blue, and the Hinoxes had equally disturbing smiles on their faces.
Blue stared at them. What were they doing here?
“Blue these are my most loyal followers.” Shadow said behind
the bars, gesturing his hand to the figures behind him, “My Hinox
Generals, and my Hylian Fighters, most useful for infiltrating
Hylian towns and destroying them from the inside out,
isn’t that right boys?”
The Hylians cheered, sneering and
laughing, the Hinoxes snorting eagerly.
“You see Blue you’ve caused them just as much trouble as you
have me, trying to find you before. They
wasted so much time, and it made them really quite angry. So after I told them
all about how pathetic you’d become, how the tears had rolled down your cheeks
as I fucked you,” the Hylians howled with laughter,
Blues face flushing in humiliation, “then they all asked if they could have a
little taste of your fear too.”
Wait.
Blues eyes went wide.
What did that mean?
“Come on Shadow, let us in there.” One of the Hylians growled hungrily, looking at Blue like he was the
very last meal he’d ever get to have, edging towards the open dungeon door but
not stepping through without Shadows command.
“Patience my friends.” Shadow
smirked, and suddenly the chains around Blues arms melted back into the
stone.
Very cautiously, his wide anxious eyes not leaving Shadow
for a second, Blue rose carefully to his knees. This atmosphere, it…it wasn’t……………
A very disturbing shudder slowly ran through his body. He
suddenly felt sick, his heart beating faster as a deep fear rose from within
him. He very slowly began to shuffle backwards towards the wall on his hands
and knees, like a cowering animal, his eyes fixed on the growing dark smile on
Shadows face. His pulse was pounding in
his ears…Shadow wouldn’t….
“It’s time I got you back into the same state of mind you
were before Blue,” Shadow smiled, before he tilted his head towards his men,
his eyes remaining on Blue.
“Fuck him.”
Like lions being released on their prey the Hylians and Hinoxes ran forward
through the door, wide grins and laughter leaving their lips. Blue shot up from
the floor to his feet, stumbling backwards down the wall backing away in
terror.
“S-Shadow!” he pleaded, eyes terrified, “No, don’t! DON’T!”
Blue tried to cower against the wall as the large Hylian who got to him first grabbed his wrist, yanking Blue
away from the wall as the others crowded around him, chuckling darkly.
Terrified but reacting naturally Blue closed his fist and punched the Hylian who’d grabbed him square on the nose.
“GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!” he screamed, but despite his
recent care Blue was nowhere near as strong as he used
to be. The Hylian
barely even stumbled, his nose not even broken, and instead he just laughed.
“I’ll pound that fight out of you.” He grinned, and suddenly
hands were everywhere.
“STOP IT! LET GO OF ME!” Blue struggled and fought back,
kicking out, but more hands just grabbed his ankles. He shut his eyes tightly, Shadows laughter echoing
outside the bars, these rough hands sliding over his skin making every cell
crawl with disgust and terror. They lifted
him into the air before dropping him hard to the ground, someone forcing his
legs apart, foul breath tingling his skin. Blue screamed,
pleaded, his arms held above his head, the claws on one of the Hinoxes ripping down his left arm and down his chest, Blue screaming
even louder in pain.
His heart was beating so fast it felt like it was vibrating
in his chest, the absolute panic and raw fear in his body making tears gather
at the corners of his eyes. No, don’t do this, please don’t do this. He’d just
become strong again, just found a kindness in this evil world, just brought his
mind back from the brink of madness! Hands
were on him, touching him, plunging fingers through that tight ring of muscle,
laughing at the cries that fell from Blues lips.
This was beyond a nightmare, this was beyond any fear he’d
ever felt.
“Please…” he choked through a strangled voice, eyes peering
open to the utter terror of a Hinox between his legs,
its huge cock hovering closely above Blues entrance.
With a gasp of sickening shock Blue screamed in horror, thrashing
his legs madly, his mind overwhelmed with fright as he twisted his body in all
directions trying desperately to get away from these ravaging hands and the gang
rape that was about to fall upon him.
One of his knees hit the Hinox under the jaw,
and in a rage the Hinox grabbed Blue by the head and
slammed it viciously hard onto the floor.
Suddenly the noises around him sounded like he was listening
to them underwater. Blues vision swam
before him, the looming bodies of his attackers blurring into one as his head reeled,
his limbs falling limp. He could feel his eyes flickering, trying to roll to the
back of his head. Something hard and
smooth was pressed against his lips, his jaw falling open as it slid into his
mouth, moving in and out, his gagging reflex making him choke but unable to
move to try and stop the intrusion. Another hardness was
pressing against his entrance, moving agonizingly slowly forward as it ripped through
his flesh…
Blue had never been more grateful for the darkness that
clouded his vision and mind, as the blow to his head finally dragged him unconscious.
