They laid there, in the warm afterglow for some time. One huge hand covering a little body, one little hand gently scratching the under chin of a huge maw. A deep voice finally breaks the silence in a raspy whisper.
“Hey.”
“What?” Mezzick whispers back.
“So what now?”
“I don’t think there is enough money in the world to have that figured out.”
“Oh...”
Mezzick was starting to drift, and was caught off guard by the deep rumble again, “hey.”
“What is it big guy?”
“Could we get some water?” he says, licking his lips.
“Oh yea sure.”
“Wait, what about those two, will we wake them up?”
“After what we just did, I’m not sure Deathwing could wake them up.” The Goblin chuckles at his own joke but is cut short. He, in fact, isn’t able to move. The glue-like nature of the repercussions of his actions has caught up with them. He struggles and fidgets, but no use. He flails a little, and gives up. “Uh, To’al, howya feeling? Better?” To’al raises an eyebrow. Mezzick however gives one more tantrum but to no use, “I’m stuck.”
To’al begins to laugh through a grimace of pain. “Well my legs work, if I can just get us up we can purify ourselves of this waste in these healing waters.”
“I was meaning to talk to ya about that; You felt it too?”
“Yes, this water runs deep with the spirit of the Earthmother, I’m ashamed I didn’t notice it sooner--uuungggaaaa...”
“Oh boy.” Mezzick could feel the strain on the muscles as they rolled over. He felt it odd plastered to the chest of some 8 foot tall monster, but felt safe too.
A long “auuuuunggaaah!” To’al winced as he got to his hands and knees. Mezzick threw out his hands and a light healing spell started to spread gentle waves of warming light into his stiff joints.
“So... what happened?”
Taking a moment to catch some deep breaths he rumbled, “I was ambushed.” He began to grunt as he walked on his knees to a nearby post he could leverage himself up on.
After all this movement Mezzick noticed himself breaking free a little more enough to move his arms and legs, but his back was still stuck. He used the new freedom to place more elaborate spells on his walking taxi. To’al mustered up what strength he could and tried to hoist himself up.
The pole cracked under the great weight of the Tauren, the sudden shift ripped at Mezzick’s skin as he unstuck from the fur quickly he re-applied the levitation spell again before either fell. Rubbing his stinging sides he coached the floating tauren over to the pond. “Like our own private rain forest. I know a lot of Goblins who would pay a lot of money for this,” Mezzick remarked as To'al slid into the water feet first.
“Well, its not our private oasis quite yet,” To’al added rolling his eyes at the two snoring Orcs.
“It might as well be,” Mezzick chuckled, “they sleep like the dead. It might as well be our private oasis for the time being.” He shyly smiled in the pale moon light and drifted towards the living mountain of flesh and fur, placing his hands on the chest. Feeling the warm muscle in one hand the cold hole in the other.
“No, we chanced much. We shouldn't again.” To’al spat out.
Mezzic's face fell, it all turned so quickly. He quickly hid it and tried “Well, let me at least give you a hand.” Mezzick began to scrub off the muck. To’al winced to the cliche twice in one night however, he was in too much pain and was too tired to protest. He rested arms on the banks let the little Goblin work. Mezzick felt hollow, the water was cold and To’al was literally warming up the small cove with his body heat alone. Mezzick gingerly rubbed away closest to the chest cavity. His fingers felt the hole, cold and lifeless. He closed his eyes and futilely tried to heal the closed wound once more.
“Ancestors before me!” To’al’s gasp broke Mezzick’s concentration. When he looked up he found found the lake to glowing unnaturally highlighting the area in teal. The small divot in To’al’s chest seemed to be the main source of the fragile light. Mezzick threw both hands over the miraculous light and channeled the last of his energies.
The light became overwhelming, turning the night into a mystical twilight. He could feel the the energy from himself ebb into the spell, but he could also feel the energy of the lake flow through his hands and into the spell. Once drained he seemed to maintain a conduit for the ethereal power emanating from the lake. The mystic light slowly faded. As he opened his eyes the To’al was arching his back, arms rigid and lifting his whole body.
To'al looked like he was in so much pain, “By the Gods! What Have I done!”
“NNNNGGGRRRRRaaaaaaa~!” To’al finished his stretch and almost immediately nodded off. Wearily he whipsered, “What was that?”
A voice called out suddenly “Is that you guys?” Tumack walked over, dressed only in his loincloth the light show had woken him up. Both To’al and Mezzick jumped and pushed away. The tauren began to heave himself out, while the goblin turned to approach the newest watching eyes.
“Yes,” Mezzick answered sarchastickly. “My muttering during my watch woke up our patient. He asked for assistance to freshen up.” Mezzick spat out devoid of emotion. As soon as he was out of the water-- pointed at his robe close to Tumack.
Throwing the robe at Mezzick, Tumack followed up, “and how did you assist him all the way out here?”
Mezzick without missing a beat flexed his arms and smiled in the moonlight before throwing on the light clothing. To’al, who has never needed to lie before, felt uneasy getting out of the water. He gingerly pried himself up but was relieved to find the muscles stuff but not wracked with pain. Tumack chuckled at the small one’s gesture but began to stare at the two of them again.
Mezzick noticed and tried to throw him off the trail. “The healing properties of this oasis must be properly examined, its quite amazing wouldn’t you say?”
Tumack came close and inspected To'al's wound-- Mezzick narrated “There are druids who would need to hear about This.”
Pushing Tumack away from him, To'al quickly gruffed out “we were supposed to report to druids, but we will see to that in the morning.” And with that To’al barely made it to his bedding before falling asleep.
