“sorry but you’re not going down on my watch, come on there’s somewhere I want to pay my respects to” giving Hadrian’s shoulder a squeeze Keba lead the way down the hill and along the dirt path until they came to a small shrine, lighting a stick of incense Keba knelt and bowed his head.
Studding the names on the shrine Hadrian noticed that Keba ran his fingers over one name in particular “Yasuo that means peaceful one doesn’t it? Did you know him?” Keba stood “I suppose you could say that I knew him as well as I knew my self, two years ago a necromancer came here with a group of bandits, I was away on a mission for the assassins at the time, I received word of an attack on the village and rushed back, but I wasn’t fast enough I returned to find the village in flames, the bodies of my family twisted to fuel dark magic. I went crazy trying to find their killer, it was the Tempests who helped me find a purpose and pulled me back from the edge, once I could think strait I returned here and built this shrine the names of my father, mother, brother, and sister are all written here” Looking over the names Hadrian frowned “um there are five names did-“ Keba gave a self-depreciating laugh “a piece of me died with my family, so I felt it only fitting to wright my old name beside those of the dead Yasuo wasn’t a friend or family member Yasuo was me” “I see…” was all he could think of to say as he gazed at the entire shrine, then his eyes lit up as he remembered something “so!....when you said, about letting your past affect your judgments…this is what you meant?” Hadrian questioned almost in a childlike manner, Keba nodded silently and Hadrian lowered his head “I’m sorry …for the things I said back at that time” guilt hitting him hard “I would never do something like that, ever!” looking back up at the silent and deadly man before him, it was starting to sink in that he could have been killed without even seeing it coming had Keba felt differently towards him, and he started to wonder if Keba was holding back any urges to end him just because he was a necromancer. Hadrian’s mind started to run away with nasty and awful thoughts and images of his violent death, he shook his head slightly and rubbed at his temples. “Maybe this is where we should part ways…” his final thoughts were if he was to die it would be better on his terms and not to burden Keba with his strange requests every, what felt like, two minutes, “…I shouldn’t have asked you to do such unpleasant things…” he trailed off as that awkward feeling returned one that he couldn’t explain.Keba gave him a soft smile “first of all stop apologizing I’m not mad and I’m not holding anything against you, and second” Keba’s smile turned to a grin “you’re coming with me to clear our names” he held up a hand to stop Hadrian’s arguments “no you don’t have a choice”

After the two left the small shrine, Keba told Hadrian his plan, they were to travel to Shin Jea monastery and gather supplies then head to Seitung Harbor to take a boat to the island where the Tempest assassin’s clan was hidden. But first they were to spend another night at Keba’s house, though Keba was a little hesitant at first about suggesting the idea, but after seeing how tired Hadrian was looking, he caved. As the night fell and the two fighters made their way back to the small farm house to get what they both hoped would be some well-deserved rest. “Hadrian you can take the bed, ok” Hadrian turned around at hearing his name “huh but where will you sleep?” that strange guilty feeling coming back to haunt him, “don’t worry” was all Keba said as he went to dig around in a nearby closet for a few extra pillows and a futon mattress. Watching Keba move around Hadrian suddenly felt all of the events catch up to him, doing his best to fight back a strong yawn.
At some point Hadrian woke up, his mind was a mess of random thoughts from over the past two or three days after having met Keba “I can’t do this” he whispered to himself, slipping quietly out of bed Hadrian made his way to the door, peaking out wanting to make sure Keba was not around, he had every intent of leaving, as he moved through the darkness inching ever closer to the front door, he stopped, frozen with fear, when he suddenly felt a pair of eyes on him. “Where do you think you’re going?” Keba smiled as Hadrian jumped and whipped around to look at where he was sitting on the futon he’d laid out earlier, pointing at the bedroom door Keba tilted his head “go back to sleep Hadrian, we’re leaving at first light.” A warm shiver ran through Hadrian when he heard Keba say his name in that low sleepy tone, unsure why he felt that way, he shook it off and started to come out of the shock at being caught. Already so close to the front door, he thought about how fast he could run before Keba got to him. Without thinking it all the way through Hadrian made a mad dash for the last few steps to the door. Shaking his head Keba sprang to his feet, catching Hadrian’s arm he pulled him back into the house and pressed him against the closed door “you really need to stop running, in case you haven’t noticed I’m pretty fast” Hadrian shivered he could feel Keba’s body heat through his cloths, placing his hands against Keba’s chest he gave a futile push “it would be better if I left” “No it would be better if you would cooperate with me” Keba frowned “what do I have to do to make you stay, tie you up” Heat pooled in Hadrian’s pale cheeks and he was sure they were glowing bright red at Keba’s words, his heart racing so fast it felt as if it would break through his ribs at any moment, “Pl-please let me leave...” he begged in a shaky voice the closeness of their bodies was something very new to him and it was making him dizzy, he also noticed just how much taller Keba was to him a good three or four inches taller. Reaching claws behind him he tried desperately to find the door knob but with Keba so close he had forgotten which way the door really opens. Grabbing Hadrian’s wrist Keba all but dragged Hadrian back to the bed, rummaging in a small chest pulled out a length of rope and pushed Hadrian onto the bed, ignoring Hadrian’s struggles he tied the thin man’s hands together with one end and tied the other end to the top of the bed, “I’m sorry about this but you are coming with me!” standing Keba tilted his head “sleep” Hadrian tugged at the rope in an attempt to break it but it was way too strong and every time he struggled he grew more and more tired, a new kind of fear started to build up inside his chest, not a fear of dying but a fear of the sudden unknown, stopping his struggles long enough to calm his racing heart down, Hadrian looked up wide eyed at the freighting male who was standing a few steps away from him. “What are you going to do to me” he yelled trying to sound braver than he felt at the moment. Keba blinked at the note of fear he heard in Hadrian’s voice, despite the necromancer trying to sound brave, Keba shook his head “I’m not going to do anything except go back to sleep I suggest you do the same” Hadrian wasn’t sure he heard the man right at first ‘is this a trick? It has to be he is an assassin’ he thought to himself quietly “w-wait! You’re just going to leave me like this? Please don’t” he bit his bottom lip stopping him-self from sounding too scared. Keba rubbed at the bridge of his nose “look I don’t like having to do this but you’ve already proven that I can’t trust you not to slip off while I’m asleep and since I’m exhausted you’ll just have to stay like this till morning” As Hadrian watched the tall brunet start to walk away he quickly thought of a way to keep him from leaving, he still wasn’t sure if the man was going to leave him there to slowly die or if he was going to stay true to his word and let him go in the morning “don’t go…please” he asked, it was the only thing he could think of to say at the moment “stay with me …in here…please” the only problem was, if he did convince the other man to stay even if he didn’t let him go, how was he going to get free. Hesitating a moment Keba crossed back to the bed and lay down he glanced at the pale man “better?” Hadrian blushed bright red and shivered “I …I guess s-so” he paused for a moment looking carefully into the brunets deep brown eyes, seeing them up close like this was different than before when they were just a few steps apart, he could see a hidden emotion deep in his eyes just behind the tiredness, was it …sadness? “You’re really not going to hurt me, are you” it was a statement not a real question, reaching out his hands as far as they would go, Hadrian tried to run his fingers over the others smooth features, something about the stronger male drew him in something he never felt with another person before, but he could only reach as far as just lightly brushing his fingertips over his cheek “why do you seem sad?” Keba closed his eye, there’s no way he can tell the thin man that his attempt to sneak out had hurt him so he said “it’s nothing” and rolled to his side his back to Hadrian “just…go to sleep Hadrian” Hadrian somehow felt he was the cause of all this, no he knew he was, the man was only trying to help him and he kept pushing him away and causing the other grief. In the end he decided to just go along with Keba’s plans and just to wait and see what would happen in the end. Making up his mind he tried to reach out to the other male once more “I’m sorry…Keba…” he wanted to say more but he wasn’t sure if the taller man was asleep or not. Keba sighed and rolled to face Hadrian, reaching out he put a hand over Hadrian’s mouth “don’t apologize just sleep, we’ll talk in the morning” Hadrian just simply nodded in agreement and tried to will himself to sleep, it didn’t take long however as he felt himself starting to drift off into a dreamless sleep. **** Pausing in the door way Keba watched the morning sun peak through the window and paint Hadrian’s pale hair and skin in shades of gold and pink, moving to the bed he reached down and untied Hadrian’s arms, giving him a gentle shake Keba smiled as the sleepy man blinked at him through unfocused eyes “time to get going, we’ve got a long way to go” “wha-“ was the groggy response as Hadrian carefully rubbed the sleep out of the corner of tired eyes, then a thought hit him ‘my arms!’ realizing he was free he was wide awake in seconds though after remembering last night’s events, with a small blush, he thought better this time about running. Standing up slowly and keeping a cautious eye on the stealthy assassin. “So…what now” Hadrian ask rather dully while lowering his eyes away from Keba. He wasn’t sure if he should be afraid or trust the assassin after all he was, so far, the only person who cared if he lived or died but at the same time Hadrian felt strange every time he was, too, close to him and it sort of scared him. “supplies first , then we have to catch a boat at the harbor, of course the trip to the harbor will take a few days, but we’re not in a big hurry” heading into the kitchen Keba grabbed their packs, offering Hadrian his pack Keba gave a smile “check over everything and let’s get going”Accepting the offered bag Hadrian took a quick look inside, seeing that everything was there he gave Keba a slight nod and followed him outside. As the sun was just rising the sky was different shades of pink and gold with a touch of blue and purple from where the night was still fading away “it’s really nice out” Hadrian noted as he looked up into the few clouds that lingered here and there. Taking a deep breath of the still cool air Hadrian felt his nerves calm down and sooth whatever stress that was left in him.
After they had been walking for a few hours, with Keba keeping Hadrian at least at arm’s length in front of him in case the man deiced to bolt again, a thought popped into Hadrian’s head “hey Keba…” he asked while turning around a bit “do you know who that guy was that attacked us back at the cemetery?”
Keba grimaced “Raze, he’s a member the Tempest order just like me, unfortunately Raze and I have never gotten along. I suppose he see this misunderstanding as a chance to get rid of me” “oh. . . do you think we will see him again?” Hadrian was tired of the quiet and not being able to see Keba was making him uneasy. “Probably Raze can be rather persistent when he wants to be” after a moments silence Keba asked the question that had been bothering him “I’ve been wondering why did you fight back? You seem so determined to die but when we met you fought back, why the switch?” Hadrian stopped walking completely as a cold chill came over him at hearing Keba’s question, yes why did he fight back? Thinking back on it if he had really wanted to die he should have just stood there ‘but…why?’ he questioned himself “I…I don’t really know?” but he did know, somewhere deep inside he was afraid, biting his lower lip Hadrian wondered if he could say it, taking a deep breath he turned around “I was …scared, and I still am” there he said it turning back around he started to walk on excepting Keba to follow. Catching his wrist Keba pulled him to a stop “still afraid, you don’t still think I’m going to hurt you, do you?” Trying his best not to look the other in the eyes, Hadrian just stood there and shivered a little as Keba griped his wrist “yes….you’re an assassin, and a very strong one … the things I have heard and after last night… I was scared you were going to hurt me. I don’t care if you kill me but please, please don’t mindlessly hurt me” “And you’re a necromancer are you all the same?” Keba sighed “it seems I can’t do anything right, I’m sorry my methods to keep you around were so… extreme” he looked down feeling strangely embarrassed “I feel like if I let you out of my sight something terrible will happen to you” “And by terrible you mean me running off and killing myself?” Hadrian smiled softly “I’ve decided that as long as I am around you, that isn’t an option anymore.” He glanced up at Keba then his smile fell as a question came to mind, “earlier you said you had nothing to live for . . . have you changed your mind? Or after we clear our names do you plan on…” he looked away unsure how to phrase that last part. Keba’s chest turned cold and he looked away he didn’t need to scare the nervous man “I have a debt to repay, after that… we’ll see” Hadrian nodded and slipped his wrist free from the lose grip “I guess we will” and with that he carefully reached out the tips of that same hand and touch Keba’s finger tips shyly with his sharp nails just trying to get use to the idea of being around someone else. Catching the fingers playing with his Keba gave Hadrian’s hand a squeeze and smiled. giving a tug he started them walking again. since Hadrian seemed to hate touch Keba dropped his hand. Breath catching in his throat at the small gesture Hadrian fought back a blush that he was sure was all over his face no matter what, he jumped just a bit as Keba walked past him he quick stepped to fall in beside the strong and mysterious man. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
