You saw a guard lying in the tower; he looked at you and pointed up. “R-run.” you could tell he wasn’t going to last much longer and you just nodded. You quickly made your way upstairs and only stopped when the monsters head pushed itself through the building. You felt yourself scream and fall back a bit as rubble and other things came flying at you. Still, it was your only way out. Gathering your courage you ran all the way up the stairs and jumped out of the hole that the beast had made, only to fall into the ruins of a house. The fall didn’t hurt thought, you were used to falling out of trees after all; but the stench was horrible. There was a burning smell and it seemed to come from everywhere, yet nowhere at the same time. Quickly getting back to your feet you made your way past the various guards and prisoners and only stopped when you found yourself at a larger tower, one that obviously was safer. You took a deep breath and ran into the door, bursting it open and falling straight onto your face. The pain stung and tears welled up in your eyes but you new that you couldn’t lie there for long. You decided that you’d have a better chance moving backwards than getting up and flipped onto your back. With some fumbled movement you pushed yourself backwards away from the door and into the safety of the building until a metal bar halted your movement. You looked up and realized that this must be the guards’ main tower, which meant… you shivered and took another deep breath. Suddenly the man with the yellow hair burst into the building and looked at you “Oh glad to see you made it too!” you smiled at him and felt your heart melt, it was as if a hero had really come to save you. “Here, let me get those binds off of you.” He helped you up and cut off the binds when a dagger. You then moved your hands and realized they were still horridly sore. You sighed a bit and the man just smiled at you “Come on, lets get out of here.” You looked up and into his eyes and grinned before following him. You walked into the main room of the building and saw a man dead, your friend seemed sad at this. “He died for a noble case…” he then looked at you “Take his armor and look for any weapons he might have, they should come in handy.” You nodded and stripped the poor dead man, and thanked the gods that he was dead. Once you got the armor suited onto yourself you took out a sword the man had and swung it around a bit. “Try not to hit me with that, alright?” you just looked at him and laughed. He looked nervous about you holding a weapon, about as nervous as you were. Suddenly you heard footsteps “Drop your weapons!” you looked and saw guards, you then looked to your follower who said nothing. You realized then what you had to do, and when they opened the door you attacked. ‘It’s for a good reason’ you thought as you slashed at one of them, cutting their hand. ‘You have to survive’ the next slash took the weapon out of their hand and you heard the other one scream ‘Make it quick.’ You then stabbed the weapon into their chest. The guard spluttered and coughed up blood, some splashing onto your face and most onto your hair. You removed the weapon and the guard fell with a loud thud. You took deep breaths and quickly cleaned off your face “Good work, now lets find a way out of here.” You nodded and the other man went off to look for a door. As he looked you took the armor off of the guards and put on what looked to be a better fit. Once you were done with this you check their pockets and found two keys. They shined brilliantly in your hand and your follower came back with a grin “I think that key might open the door.” He said as he took it and you watched him walk away. He opened the door with little resistance and continued on but you hesitated. Instead, you decided to clean your weapon and take a minute to think about what you had done. ‘You killed a man, you murder.’ ‘It wasn’t in spite, it was out of need.’ ‘They were going to kill me if I didn’t.’ ‘You still killed them and you should feel ashamed.’ You shook your head and followed after your friend, you really shouldn’t think right now.
