Forte groaned as sound and feeling returned to his body. He froze when he felt something warm snuggled up against him and he slowly opened his eyes, smiling when he saw a mop of dark hair. Carefully he brought his hand up, smoothing the synthetic strands. He was just thankful that Rockman had returned from the battle alive. Forte had been worried sick when he knew he wouldn’t be there to back his lover up. He had feared he would lose the smaller, blue-clad ‘bot to some fatal injury or other. That he would awake knowing his lover would no longer be at his side.
Though that was not the worst thing he could think of to nag at his soul. He still dreaded the fact he might lose Rockman completely to the madness he knew the older ‘bot had inherited from when they had been in the others body. He could only hope that, over time, Rockman could return to his normal, peaceful self..
Sighing softly, Forte glanced around, chuckling under his breath. He was back in Rockman’s room. The same room he had first awoken in when they had switched bodies. He couldn’t help but find the irony of it all. It seemed like so long ago, even though he knew it wasn’t, that some thing, some force had switched their core personalities. Forte had roused from his normal sleep cycle in this very room. Though it had been in his lover’s body which had forced him to learn the smaller bot’s systems and command lines so he could save Rockman. He had known that Rockman would panic when he woke in the hole Forte had once called home, and he had been right.
Snorting softly, Forte knew that Wily’s various fortresses would no longer be his home. He knew that he had a new home. A new room to live in. One that was filled with life and light, not hatred and darkness. He knew this would also become his room. He just hoped that Gospel could learn to live with sharing a house with Rush.
For you, of course, Gospel’s thoughts seemed to echo in his mind before the robotic wolf yawned sleepily.
“Thanks,” Forte whispered, not wanting to wake Rockman up just yet. Though, another thought crossed his mind. Could Rush learn to live with Gospel around?
When he felt a faint, mental nudge he knew must have come from the red, robotic hound of Rock’s he smiled sadly. “Thanks,” he whispered again, “I really do owe you all a whole, hell of a lot.”
There came a feeling of debt paid so long as Forte watched over Rockman and kept him safe and happy.
“You know I’d always do that,” Forte whispered, “I love him too much to leave him now. He needs me more than ever.”
He knew he was going to have to be there for Rockman, to help his soul heal from all that had happened to him. Even if Right had repaired the damage done to Forte’s body he knew the damage done to Rockman’s gentle soul wouldn’t be so easy to remove. He knew that Rockman would probably still have nightmares about what had happened. That his lover would still be traumatized by it all. He also knew that, no matter what, he’d never leave Rockman’s side. Ever.
He ghosted a gentle kiss to Rockman’s hair. “My lover,” he whispered, “forever.”
“Always,” Rockman breathed out before he shifted, looking sleepily up at Forte.
Forte smiled, leaning ahead to give Rockman a loving kiss.
“I was so worried,” Rockman said softly once they had broken the kiss, “I thought I was going to lose you.”
“It’ll take more than that to take me down,” Forte said, “you should know. I’m the strongest robot there ever was.”
“I know,” Rockman said softly, “remember? I was in your body for a while.”
“I know, love, trust me, I know,” Forte said softly, unable to keep the sadness from his voice.
“It seems strange to hear you call me ‘love’,” Rockman said with a sad smile, “I always have to get you to call me your lover.”
Forte just kissed Rockman instead of answering him outright. He knew why the change. He knew too damned well what had happened. Even though he was glad to be free of Wily he had wished things could have been different. He had never wanted Rockman to have tasted even a drop of his madness.
“Forte,” Rockman said as he pulled back from the kiss.
“What?” Forte asked as he reached up to gently caress Rockman’s cheek.
Rockman started to speak, then fell silent.
“Rock,” Forte said softly, “if you’re afraid I’m going to stop loving you because of this, I’m not. I love you as much now as I loved you before. That never changed. That’ll never change. I want to stay by your side, as your lover, for the rest of our functioning days.”
Rockman nodded as tears started to form before he latched onto the taller ‘bot, crying harshly against him.
Forte gently held Rockman against him as he tenderly caressed his back. “Shh,” he said softly, “it’s going to be ok. I’ll help you take away your pain. I’ll help you any way I can.”
“I-I just,” Rockman started to say, “the pain you went through-“
“-Was more than worth it to be with you,” Forte finished, “yes, Wily wasn’t the kindest creator but he did create me so that’s probably the only thing I can thank him for. If he hadn’t created me, I wouldn’t be here, as your lover.”
“Wh-when Wily cut me … ” Rockman said, voice thick around his tears, “he was so angry.”
“Of course,” Forte said, “he’s not like your old man. He’s not kind and gentle. He doesn’t view robots as anything but tools of war. Unlike Right who views robots as something alive, something to be cherished.”
“I-I … I wanted … I wanted to die,” Rockman finally said, “the pain was too much. Then hearing what he was doing to Centaur and Tengu … At least Gospel was there to comfort me. He was aching as much as I was, even though Wily never touched him.”
“Because he was starting to bond to you, like he had bonded to me,” Forte said softly, “just like I started bonding to Rush. I can still feel his presence, every so often. Not like Gospel since I’m back in my own body.”
Rockman just nodded, falling silent.
Forte did have to wonder just how much of a patch job Right had done on his body, considering the mess Rockman was in when he had managed to get him back. He didn’t care if he had more scars. He knew how to handle them. He knew how to ignore the pain, to shut it out. Rockman, he knew, was just the opposite. He wouldn’t have known what to do.
Falling silent as well, Forte continued to caress Rockman’s back, every so often ghosting kisses to his lover’s hair. He wasn’t going to press anything with Rockman, knowing the blue ‘bot was going to have to make the first moves himself. He knew he couldn’t help Rockman heal unless he wanted to and was willing to let the dark ‘bot into his soul.
When Rockman shifted, Forte opened his eyes, not having consciously realized he had closed them. He looked down at Rockman and smiled lovingly at him. He smiled as Rockman leaned ahead, giving him a soft kiss.
Forte kissed Rockman back with his entire heart and soul, a soul that felt light and peaceful, something he never thought he could ever feel. He just worried that Rockman might never be able to escape the pain or the chaos and confusion his soul had felt while he was in the body of a homicidal maniac.
Rockman broke the kiss, breathless. “Forte?” he asked.
“What is it?” Forte asked, voice soft as he gently caressed Rockman’s cheek.
“I-I, um, I want you,” Rockman said, his cheeks burning bright with embarrassment.
“You know I’m all yours,” Forte said, “any time. Um, Gospel? Rush? Mind giving us some privacy?”
He heard two sets of metal clanking, one on each side of the bed. He didn’t bother watching as both robotic companions left the room, glad the door had been cracked open but also worried about who might have been outside while they had been talking. He heard the door shut and he imagined either his wolf or Rockman’s hound had shoved the door with their nose.
Rockman blinked, shifting to look behind him. “Rush … he listened to you?”
Forte nodded. “Like I said, I can still feel his presence even though I’m not in your body now. I also know he understands what we mean to each other. I know Gospel understands.”
Rockman looked back at Forte before hugging him tightly.
Forte chuckled as he held Rockman against him, tenderly caressing his back as he kissed him deeply.
When he felt Rockman begin to rub against his thigh he pulled back. “No need to rush this,” he said softly, “no one can stop us from loving each other. Ever. You have my word on that.”
“I know,” Rockman said as he looked away, “it’s just that-“
“-You still hurt inside,” Forte said softly, “because of what Wily did to you thinking it was me at first and then realizing you were in my body and that we did love each other. But taking me, or having me take you, out of lust or a need to replace the pain, isn’t the answer. If you really want to erase the pain, you need to replace it with good memories.”
“How do you know?” Rockman asked as he gave Forte a curious look.
“Your innate kindness, compassion and understanding rubbed off on me,” Forte said, “which means that my chaos, my coldness, my stubborn pride has rubbed off on you. That’s something I wished you’d never have to live with.”
“I don’t mind,” Rockman said, “if it means you can live without it.”
“That’s not the point,” Forte said, “I’m used to it. My soul’s been hardened to the pain. Yours hasn’t. That’s why you’re suffering like you are.”
Rockman nodded, settling against Forte, one hand over the dark ‘bot’s core.
“Rock,” Forte said, “I want you. I want to take away your pain. Believe me, I do.”
“Then take me,” Rockman said as he looked up, an almost hard, needful edge to his sapphire gaze, “make me forget what’s happened.”
Forte knew that look all too well, a look that should have come from him, not from Rockman. “I will,” he said softly, “I’ll please you until you pass out from it. Then I’ll keep watch over you while you rest.”
“I want my memories to be of you,” Rockman said, “not of what happened.”
Forte nodded. It wasn’t like Wily had violated Rockman, even though it technically was Forte’s body, but he had scarred him, more so inside than outside. He leaned ahead and gave Rockman a soft, gentle kiss, knowing it wouldn’t stay that way for long, not with how desperate he knew Rockman had to be.
And he was right. It wasn’t long before Rockman was mewling, shifting to rub almost desperately against Forte. However, Forte wasn’t going to make this quick, despite how much Rockman might protest. He knew it was going to take a long time, no matter what, to get Rockman to forget what Wily had done. He knew it would take more than this one trip, but he wanted it to mean something. Not like before all of this mess started when they would find time to be together when they had to make it quick so Wily wouldn’t get suspicious. Now they didn’t have to worry about that. Now they had all the time in the world.
Forte moaned softly when he felt Rockman reach down to caress him through his pants, his hips arching a bit. However, he didn’t return the favor. Not yet, at least.
When Rockman growled softly, nipping sharply at Forte’s lip, he backed off. “No,” he said softly, “that’s me, not you.”
Rockman looked away at that, his hand stilling.
“Don’t shut me out,” Forte said, “please, don’t.”
“I can’t do this right,” Rockman said softly, a hitch to his voice, “maybe Wily did damage me?”
“Only if you believe it,” Forte said as he finally reached down to cup Rockman, earning him a deep moan. Slowly he began to knead and caress Rockman through his own pants, moaning again when he felt Rockman resume touching him. Even when Rockman became a bit rough, Forte said nothing, liking the feel. Then again, he always had been rough around the edges. Maybe not so much now, though, since Rockman’s personality had tempered him.
Somewhat.
“You are far from damaged,” Forte said softly, “you’re far from unloved. Everyone in your family loves you. I love you. I love you more than anything else.”
“Forte,” Rockman moaned out.
Forte chuckled as he shifted them, making sure Rockman was partially beneath him even as he kept his weight mostly off of the smaller ‘bot. “Let me show you just how much I do love you,” he said as he leaned ahead to kiss Rockman even as he began to undo his pants. Once Forte managed to get the zipper down he slipped his hand in, kneading and caressing Rockman through his underwear.
Even though Rockman’s hips bucked at that, a deep mewl breaking free, Forte didn’t stop. He trailed his kisses down Rockman’s cheek, pausing to tease the base of his neck. He removed his hand from Rockman’s pants only long enough to remove his shirt.
“All of it,” Rockman said breathily, “you too.”
Forte laughed softly. “Ok, ok, I’ll give you that much.” He began to undress, amazed at how fast Rockman was stripping. He knew he was going to have a hard time keeping Rockman from slipping into his madness even though he was prepared to do anything he had to in order to make sure his lover didn’t.
He had barely removed his pants and underwear before Rockman reached out, hauling him back into bed, easily taking control of the kiss. Forte fought for dominance, earning himself a growl from Rockman. “That’s not you,” Forte started to say before he hissed when Rockman bit his neck, “that’s me. Besides, it’s not the same without fangs.”
“Don’t care,” Rockman said as he slid down, not stopping until he was between Forte’s legs, stroking him gently. However, the heated look in Rockman’s eyes faded as his gaze traveled over Forte’s body.
Forte eased himself up on his elbows, looking down. “I see your dad repaired the cuts Wily made to my body, but he couldn’t, or didn’t want to, remove the scars.”
“H-he … he did this when … when he scanned my core and found out the truth about us,” Rockman said.
“Do you think I care about that?” Forte asked, “I don’t care if he did cut my body, it wasn’t the first time he’s done that to me. Though that was the first time you’ve experienced something like that.”
Rockman just nodded, tears starting to form in the corner of his eyes.
Forte sat, drawing Rockman into his lap, letting their hardness rub together. “What my body looks like doesn’t matter. It’s what I feel for you that does. I still love you.”
“I-I know,” Rockman said as he looked down.
Forte reached up and wiped away the tear that fell from Rockman’s eye. “Do you still want me?” he asked softly.
“I want you, more than anything,” Rockman said, a hint of fear in his voice, “I need you.”
“Shh,” Forte said as he reached over to the nightstand, snagging the vial of oil, “you’ll have me. Don’t worry about it.” He coated two fingers before easing Rockman up, reaching under him to slide a finger into his lover.
Rockman mewled at that, rising a bit more as he tightly gripped Forte’s shoulders.
The dark ‘bot didn’t mind as he slid a second finger in, making sure Rockman was well stretched. Once he was satisfied, he slid a third finger in, thrusting gently.
Rockman bit his lip, mewling softly. “F-Forte.”
Forte nodded, removing his fingers and coating himself before shifting Rockman again. He knew his lover was going to have to retain some control over this, considering the fear Wily had put in him. He also knew he had to do the taking so Rockman would feel complete and filled with the dark ‘bot’s love. He guided Rockman down, holding himself until he felt the tip penetrate his lover and he let go, looking up at Rockman.
Silently Rockman nodded as he pressed the rest of the way down, mewling sharply when his hips went flush against Forte’s.
Forte moaned softly at the feel of Rockman around him. He drew the smaller ‘bot down, kissing him fiercely. When Rockman didn’t move he smirked before thrusting his hips sharply up, letting his lover know he couldn’t just sit there.
Squeaking into the kiss, Rockman murmured an apology before he began to slowly move.
Forte smiled into the kiss as he slid his hands down to hold Rockman by the hips, partly to keep him from getting too rough and partly because it was easier that way. He let Rockman dominate the kiss but he wasn’t about to let the smaller ‘bot dominate their lovemaking. That, he knew, would always be his realm to claim ‘victory.’
Not even when Rockman nipped sharply at his tongue did he complain, making sure to rake Rockman’s tongue with his fangs in response. When Rockman growled at that, Forte growled back. Whatever Rockman tried to do to him, he would do back. Unless it was a matter of the body then, no matter what, Forte wouldn’t be rough. He knew he would always be gentle with Rockman. He did love him more than anything else, after all. He knew Rockman had put up with more than enough pain when Wily had cut the dark ‘bot’s body while Rockman’s soul had been in it. He didn’t want to see those marks echoed on Rockman’s perfect body.
He reached down, stroking Rockman in time to his movement, his lover’s nearly constant mewls barely contained in their kiss. Never once did Forte look away, never once did he close his eyes. He wanted to not only look at his lover while they were together, but he also wanted to judge Rockman’s emotions, wanted to help keep him afloat in his sea of pain.
When Rockman’s eyes started to darken, started to shift, Forte broke the kiss, sliding his hands up to hold onto Rockman’s cheeks. “Don’t you dare do that,” he hissed out, “don’t you dare give into it.”
Rockman blinked, his eyes starting to lighten some. “Forte?” he breathed out.
“You’re starting to lose control,” Forte said, “you’re starting to give in to the darkness. I’ll be damned if I lose you to my madness.”
“You won’t lose me,” Rockman breathed out, his voice clear and calm, “you’ll never lose me, no matter what. I’ll always be here.”
Forte shook his head when he felt Rockman place a hand over his core. “That’s not the same,” he said.
Rockman just smiled sadly as he leaned ahead, kissing Forte, silencing any further protests as he closed his eyes.
Forte felt a tear fall down his cheek. Rockman was giving in, was letting the dark bot’s madness take him over. He felt his own heart and soul break, knowing it was Rockman’s own goodness he now held that was causing him to feel like that.
Growling, Forte shifted, nearly slamming Rockman on his back as he took complete control of this. He let his worry and his fear take control, let it drive him over the edge. He knew he was the only one who was dark and violent there, not Rockman. He was pure, the light, the polar opposite to Forte’s corruption and darkness.
Rockman squeaked at that, his eyes flying open, fear too evident.
Forte snarled again as he leaned down and kissed Rockman with a fierce need, easily overshadowing the smaller robot. However, his gaze was not cold and hard, it was filled with pain for what Rockman was going through as well as his fears that he would lose Rockman, would lose the gentle and kind robot forever.
Rockman broke the kiss, burying his face into the crook of Forte’s neck. “I’ll never leave you,” he whispered, moaning softly, “I’ll still be me.”
“Not if you give into my madness,” Forte said.
“I won’t,” Rockman whispered, “not with you to help keep me sane.”
“I’d do anything,” Forte said, “anything to take it all back. I’d do anything so you wouldn’t have to live with the pain.”
“No,” Rockman whispered, his body shuddering slightly, “I’d do anything so you wouldn’t have to live with the pain. You shouldn’t feel this darkness.”
“I was born with it,” Forte said as he stopped, his hips flush with Rockman’s as he looked down at his lover, “I’m used to it. You’re not. It’s going to destroy who you are.”
Rockman shook his head, reaching up to brush his fingers along Forte’s cheek. “I know you’ll never let it destroy me.”
Forte wasn’t so sure about that but he nodded, leaning down as he kissed Rockman again, this time softer. He resumed thrusting deep into his lover, but not as hard. He moaned deeply when he felt Rockman rake his back with his nails, his own body shivering as well. He felt Rockman shift, wrapping his legs around the dark ‘bot’s lower back.
However, Forte didn’t increase the pace of his thrusts, wanting to please Rockman, not harm him. He knew he would die if he ever hurt his lover.
“Love you,” Rockman murmured into the kiss.
“Love you forever,” Forte whispered. He reached down and began to gently stroke Rockman, feeling the smaller ‘bot’s body shivering hard. Close but not quite close enough.
Forte increased the kiss when he felt Rockman’s body arch, his moans turning into almost painful-sounding mewls that ended in a scream when his body began to shudder hard. Moaning deeply himself, the sound bordering on a growl, Forte thrust a few more times into Rockman’s pulsing warmth before he felt his own band snap and his body released his artificial seed deep in Rockman. He growled, even as his hips continued to jerk, emptying himself completely.
He broke the kiss even as he pulled out of Rockman, raking his shoulder with his fangs gently, not enough to break the synthetic skin but enough to leave a red mark.
Rockman smiled up at Forte, the love he had for the dark ‘bot shining brightly, even if his eyes were not quite as blue as they should have been. “There’s no going back,” he breathed out, “even if you want to, we can’t change what’s happened. Even your eyes are different.”
Forte nodded sadly as he gathered Rockman against him, cuddling the smaller ‘bot, shifting just long enough to pull the sheets over them.
Rockman smiled as he draped an arm across Forte’s shoulder, tucking his head against the crook of the taller ‘bot’s neck.
Forte closed his eyes, even as he caressed Rockman’s side lovingly. He listened as Rockman’s breathing evened out, his body going into a rest cycle. Knowing that some things wouldn’t change, Forte sighed softly. What he hated the most was how their souls had become so intertwined, so connected, that even once they had gotten back into their right bodies the effects of the others soul hadn’t cleared up. They both would be, forever, a part of each other.
Cursing anything he could think of, Forte set himself into a rest mode as well, knowing they had a long journey ahead of them and that Rockman had a lot of healing to do. Even if Forte felt that Rockman would never return to what he once was, he knew, deep down inside, that he would do whatever it took to help Rockman survive this and learn how to handle the darkness in his soul as well as the pain the dark ‘bot had always felt.
When Forte woke, he expected to feel a warm body beside of him, expected to hear soft breathing. When he felt nor heard any of that he began to panic. Opening his eyes, he looked around. Rockman was nowhere to be seen. He threw the covers back before swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, nearly hitting Rush.
The red, robotic hound cracked an irritated eye open before closing it.
Forte swore under his breath as he let his armor form around him considering it would be quicker than putting his clothes on and who knew what kind of trouble Rockman might be in, considering Rush wasn’t with him.
Hurrying out the door, Forte began to almost tear the place apart, trying to find someone who could give him answers. None of his rescued brothers seemed to have the slightest idea, of which he figured they wouldn’t. His worst fear was that Rockman had gone back to Wily’s lab to finish the job.
He nearly broke the door down entering Right’s own lab, stopping when he saw the good Doctor, Roll and Blues around one of the tables, what looked like a robotic body on it. His heart nearly stopping, Forte moved over, surprised to see a half-completed robot. One that resembled Rockman a little too much.
“Oh, Forte,” Doctor Right said, “Rockman wanted this to be a secret.”
“Secret?” Forte asked.
Blues answered instead. “He wanted dad to upgrade him so he’d be your equal.”
Forte took a step back at that. “He what!”
“He wanted me to improve his internal processors as well as his radar and other weapon functionality,” Doctor Right said.
“Well, yeah,” Forte said, “it’d help him if Wily recovers enough to try and attack us again, but you wouldn’t have to build him a new body.”
“He also wanted me to make him look older,” Doctor Right said.
“And you agreed?” Forte asked.
“Why not?” Doctor Right asked, “he’s my son, after all.”
Forte looked away at that. He had loved Rockman the way he had been. He knew there had been no reason why he should have upgraded himself like that, especially without telling the dark ‘bot. He turned and walked away, feeling both anger and sadness fighting in his core. How dare Rockman think he was too young for Forte?
When he realized there were footsteps behind him he didn’t stop. He didn’t want to face any of them.
“Forte, wait.” It was Blues.
“I don’t have anything to say,” Forte said.
“You might not, but I do,” Blues said.
Forte stopped and turned to face the eldest Right ‘bot, a scowl on his face.
“If you really loved Rockman then you’d support him in this,” Blues said, “what he’s doing is because he loves you.”
“How the Hell would you know?” Forte asked, a hint of his old self surfacing.
“Because he told Roll, dad and myself,” Blues said, “that’s the only reason why dad agreed to make Rock look older.”
Forte blinked at that. “Because … he loves me? He’s changing his body because he loves me? That’s the stupidest excuse I’ve ever heard. If he really loved me, he wouldn’t change. He’d stay the same. Loving someone isn’t about how they look, it’s who they are inside.”
“Exactly,” Blues said, “so even though Rock’s going to look a few years older, it doesn’t mean he’s changed personality wise. It’ll still be the same robot who loves you.”
Forte had to admit that Blues was right. So long as Rockman’s cognitive circuit, those bits of code that made up his personality, remained intact he would still be Rockman, no matter what he looked like.
“When dad’s done with Rock he’s going to upgrade Rush as well,” Blues said, “so they can still use the Super Adapter program.”
Forte just nodded. This was too much to take in at once, considering thinking and rationalizing things hadn’t been a strong point with him in the past.
“I’m sure Rock’s going to want you to be there when he wakes,” Blues said, “dad figured he’d let his systems get used to the upgrades while he rested in his room. I bet he’d rather wake up in your arms than on a cold, uncaring table.”
Forte didn’t say anything, not sure what to say.
“If you shut him out now, you’ll destroy him completely,” Blues said, “even we could see the changes to him. He’s lost his own soul and become you.”
“That’s one thing I had always hoped would never happen …” Forte said, sighing deeply inside, “I guess he’s lost the most in all of this damned mess … “
“There’s always winners and losers in battle,” Blues said, “this is no different. Please, try to understand what Rock’s going through. He needs you now more than ever.”
“Don’t you think I don’t already know?” Forte asked, “I know he was losing his battle. I could see it in his eyes … I could see them changing color … I could see my own eyes starting to look back at me … “
“And since you know how to handle it, you can be there for Rock,” Blues said, voice going soft, “you can help him learn how to live your life.”
“No!” Forte said, his voice sharp, filled with fear, “no,” he said a bit quieter, “no one should have to live with the pain that damned bastard inflicted on all of us. No one.”
Blues shook his head. “He won’t be tortured like all of you were,” he said, “but you will have to teach him how to live with his chaos.”
Forte sighed as he nodded. “I’d do anything to take it back so he wouldn’t have to live with it. Anything.”
“Be careful what you wish for,” Blues said as he turned, “because you never know when you might get your wish.”
Forte was confused by that and he just watched as Blues walked off. In silence he returned to Rockman’s room.
He closed the door behind him, moving over and sitting heavily on the bed. He watched as Rush shifted and rose, stretching some before propping his front feet on the bed, giving Forte a soft whine.
“Did he tell you what damned-fool thing he was going to do?” Forte asked, “did he tell you he was going to get upgraded? That you’d be upgraded too?”
Rush nodded, shifting, trying to lick Forte’s face.
Forte almost shoved the robotic hound away but didn’t. “Gospel? Where are you? You’re too silent.” And that was something he didn’t like. He didn’t like how quiet his wolf was.
He heard the rustle from the other side of the bed before he felt something leap onto it and off the other side. He watched as Gospel hopped partly into his lap, licking at his face as well.
Rush started to growl but stopped, seeming to have accepted the robotic wolf in his life. At least allowing him to be close without feeling too threatened, that was.
Gospel glared at Rush before ignoring him, likewise seeming to have accepted the robotic hound being near him. Especially near Forte.
Forte reached out and hugged both robotic animals, feeling tears start to fall again. He cursed how weak he had become, hating it. He hated how he had lost his edge, how he had become soft, emotional. He wished he was still cold and uncaring about anything except Rockman. He didn’t need to feel this way, so confused and broken inside.
He felt Gospel nuzzle his cheek, feeling the sense that, no matter what, the purple wolf robot would always be there for him, would always be his support unit.
“Thanks,” Forte said, his voice still broken by tears.
Even Rush nuzzled Forte, whining some.
Forte looked over, getting a sense even Rush felt his pain. Somehow, even if he was back in his own body, he still had a deep connection to the red, robotic hound, though his connection to Gospel was, by far, stronger.
Things will be fine, Gospel’s mental voice seemed to echo as he licked Forte’s cheek, trust us on this.
Forte nodded. “I just hope you’re right … “
Sighing softly into the silence, Forte simply held both robotic animals until they pulled back on their own, Gospel last since he had always been there for the dark ‘bot when he had needed comfort.
Though, even he left, laying back down on the floor on the far side of the bed, the side Forte had been in.
Forte wiped away his tears as he sat there, his heart and soul feeling cold.
It wasn’t until the door opened that he shifted, watching as Blues carried Rockman into the room, a simple sheet wrapped around him.
“Dad says to give him a few hours but, when he wakes, he’ll be good to go,” Blues said, “so you won’t have to worry about anything.”
“I’m going to worry,” Forte said, his voice seeming lifeless, “I can’t help but worry now.”
“Because you’ve become him,” Blues said, “but I know you won’t abuse what you two share. I know you’ll always love him, no matter what.”
“I couldn’t stop loving him,” Forte said as he rose to take Rockman from him, just gazing down at his lover’s now older face. Not that old, he had to correct himself. Maybe a couple of years older.
“Good,” Blues said, “because if you ever did it might destroy him inside.”
Forte just nodded as he turned, hoping that Rockman really knew what he was getting himself into by getting upgraded like that.
He heard Blues as he turned and left, closing the door behind him.
Forte just stood there for a moment before easing Rockman down. He unwound the sheet, surprised by how he seemed more muscular. Even down there he was bigger. Blushing a bit, Forte shook his head before banishing his armor. He eased Rockman onto his side of the bed before removing the spare sheet and slipping in beside of Rockman, covering them before snuggling his lover against him. He found it harder to do where Rockman was no longer smaller than him but almost the same build. He knew he was going to miss being able to tuck his lover’s smaller body against him like he used to. He knew there was a lot he was going to miss now that Rockman was ‘older’.
Sighing softly, Forte closed his eyes as he waited for Rockman to wake, knowing there was nothing else he could do.
He roused from a light rest cycle when he felt movement against him. He almost opened his eyes but managed to stay still, trying to fake he was still asleep.
“Rush,” he heard Rockman whisper, his voice slightly deeper, “mind giving us some privacy? I know when Forte wakes he’s going to be surprised and want to check out all the changes dad made to me.”
Surprise wasn’t the right word. At first when he realized what was going on, yeah, but now …
He listened as the robotic hound shifted, teleporting instead of walking out of the room.
“Gospel, I hope you don’t mind leaving too, but you know I’ll take good care of Forte,” Rockman whispered.
Gospel gave a soft whuff before Forte heard his wolf shift and teleport out as well.
Forte felt Rockman lean down, placing a soft kiss to his lips. He wanted to imagine sapphire eyes filled with the light of life staring lovingly at him. He wanted to imagine seeing a warm, gentle smile on a youthful, innocent face. He didn’t want to look into eyes he knew wouldn’t belong to his lover, to see a smile that would be tainted by a deep, inner pain.
“I love you so much,” Rockman whispered, his voice filled with love, of that, Forte could tell, but it was no longer soft and gentle. “I hope you like the changes. I really wanted this to happen.”
Forte knew he already hated the changes and, as was his nature, resisted believing any of that could be for the good. Well, maybe upgrading Rockman so his battle skills were on par with the dark ‘bot, but nothing else.
He shifted a bit when he felt Rockman caressing his side, the touch feather light, bordering on sensual. At that, Forte did open his eyes, staring back at dark blue eyes flecked with red.
“Surprise,” Rockman said, a warm smile on his face.
“Definitely a surprise,” Forte said, his voice a bit sad even if he tried not to show how much it hurt him that Rockman had changed outwardly as well as inwardly.
“You don’t like it?” Rockman asked as he frowned.
“You didn’t have to change,” Forte said, “I loved you just the way you were.”
Rockman just nodded as he looked down. “I thought you might like it if I was made to look a bit older and not so childish.”
“Trust me,” Forte said softly, “you were far from childish. Though you don’t fit that well against me. We’re too close in size now.”
“I never thought about that … ” Rockman said softly.
“You didn’t think about this at all, did you?” Forte asked, “you just went on an impulse, something I’d do.”
Rockman looked away. “I can’t go back … There’s no way I can go back to what I was.”
Forte shifted, caressing Rockman’s cheek. “There’s no way either of us can go back to what we were inside, but that doesn’t mean we can’t stay the same on the outside.”
“I-I’m sorry,” Rockman said as his voice hitched, “you must hate me now.”
“If I hated you would I be here?” Forte asked, “truthfully, yes, I am disappointed that you wouldn’t ask me about this, that you selfishly decided to act on what’s going to become your instinct. An instinct you’re not going to be used to having. Now that we’re a couple everything we do is going to affect the other one and we’re going to have to remember that.”
“That sounds like I used to be,” Rockman said, voice soft, his gaze distant.
“You still have the old you in there,” Forte said, “just like I have the old me still inside. Only my new personality is trying to override it, just like yours is trying to. If we give in, if we submit to that, then, yes, we will have lost. We’ll become the other. You’ll become insane with the thought of being powerful and you’ll stop at nothing to prove it, just like I’ll become all soft and emotional and want peace over everything else. Not that that’s a bad thing, mind you, but it’s not me. That’s you.”
“It’s hard,” Rockman said, “it’s hard to fight those feelings, those urges.”
“Trust me,” Forte said softly as he leaned ahead to give Rockman a gentle kiss, “I know, but I’m used to handling them. You’re trying to do this on your own and you’re failing.”
Rockman nodded, weakly kissing back.
Forte shifted and held Rockman tight against him. “Don’t shut me out now. Please. Don’t let the madness win. Don’t let it drive you away from me. Rock … I don’t want to lose you.”
“Didn’t … didn’t I tell you something like that, a long time ago, when we first realized we loved each other?” Rockman asked softly as he held onto Forte.
Forte nodded. “Back when I was confused and thought I only wanted your body to fill my needs,” he said, “back before I learned that I did love you, only my stubborn pride refused to acknowledge that I could feel something so weak, and useless, as love.”
“Love is a weak emotion,” Rockman said, “it clouds the judgment. You were right in that.”
“The hell I was,” Forte almost shouted, “I was wrong. Dead wrong. Love isn’t weak, it’s strong.”
Rockman shook his head. “Love is a weakness a fighter shouldn’t have to endure.”
Forte hesitated at that before nodding and letting go of Rockman. “Then … I guess it’s over, huh? Since you obviously don’t want to feel some week, useless emotion.”
“I just need some time to get used to all these changes and put everything in their proper perspective,” Rockman said, “that’s all. I need to get stronger before I can allow myself to become weak.”
Forte just nodded, getting out of bed as he let his armor form around him. “Then I’ll give you the space you want,” he said, “I’ll give you all the time in the world to figure out just how damned wrong you are about this.”
“Forte? Where are you going?” Rockman asked.
“None of your damned business,” Forte said, a cold edge to his crimson gaze, “oh, and when you see Blues, tell him he was wrong. Tell him that you really don’t need me. Tell him he was wrong that I had to help you learn to live with the chaos inside of you because it seems like you know all the answers.”
Rockman seemed confused by that.
“Yes, I knew what you were doing,” Forte said, “I woke and you were gone. I panicked and almost tore this place apart to find you. Then I went to the labs and saw what they were doing. They told me how you wanted to be upgraded. I knew my madness has changed you quicker than I thought possible. I knew I had lost you … “
“I wanted to surprise you,” Rockman said as he looked down, tears starting to form, “that’s all.”
Forte moved over to the other side of the bed and leaned down, tilting Rockman’s head up. He gave him a deep, loving kiss, not bothering to hide the pain in his soul over what was going on. “I love you,” he whispered, “forever and always.”
He stepped back and initiated his teleport function, silently calling for Gospel. He ignored Rockman’s scream of his name nor the panicked look on the other robot’s face. Served him right for acting like an idiot. Not that Forte knew he was acting any better but he didn’t care at that moment.
His teleport landed him in a forest grotto and he looked around sadly. He moved over and sat on a tree stump at the edge of the clearing, his heart feeling heavy and sad. Is this what Rockman felt like after a battle? Was this inner pain something that had eaten away at Rockman? Had made him weak and susceptible to Forte’s madness?
Though, he had a plan. A desperate plan. One he had no idea if it would work or not but he knew how he would handle a situation like that and this was the quickest thing he could think to do. Considering he hadn’t hidden his teleport beam, Forte ticked off the seconds, not even looking up when he heard another teleport enter the grotto. He knew Rockman would follow him. That, at least, he knew he could count on.
“Just what the hell was that for?” Rockman shouted, “why this cold attitude all of a sudden?”
“Why are you swearing and getting angry like that?” Forte asked as he looked up, “why do you have that unstable look in your eyes? I bet you’re itching for a fight. I bet you just can’t wait to activate your buster and open fire on me. Right? I bet you can hear it, deep in your core. I bet you can feel your nerves on edge. You know what’s going to happen. You’re already anticipating how you’re going to take your enemy down.”
Rockman seemed confused at that and he took a step back.
Forte rose. “You’re showing weakness,” he said, “you’re backing down. You know it’s fatal to show weakness, especially in front of the enemy. You can hear your battle instincts screaming at you, warning you. I bet it’s getting louder and louder, almost to the point it drowns everything out.”
Rockman took another step back when Forte rose, a hand going to his head.
“The pain won’t go away,” Forte said as he moved closer, his own battle instincts kicking in, even if they were now dulled by Rockman’s compassion, “it’ll never go away until you’ve torn your enemies apart … or been returned to your creator in pieces. The pain will consume you until nothing is left.”
“I-I don’t … ” Rockman began.
“There is a trick,” Forte said as he stopped in front of Rockman, knowing the danger he was putting himself into but not caring at the moment, “there is a way to fight it without fighting. Only you have to be strong. Only the strongest robot alive could hope to beat the pain, the confusion, the anger deep inside of you.”
“I am strong,” Rockman growled out, his buster forming, “I am stronger than anything else.”
“No,” Forte said, “Rockman is strong of the heart, not strong of the body. That’s why he always won his battles. Because his sense of justice gave him the strength and power to do the impossible. Though you’re not Rockman, are you? You’re Forte, a killer robot built by Wily. I’m right, aren’t I?”
“Sh-shut up!” Rockman shouted.
Forte shook his head. “Do you remember this place?” he asked instead, “it should look familiar to you.”
Rockman looked around, his eyes narrowed as if he expected to be attacked at any moment. Then, his eyes went wide. “This … this is our special place.”
Forte nodded. “This is the place we found by accident,” he said, “your buster shot is still visible on the tree over there, same for mine over there. This is where you got me to see that strength came not from my blaster but from inside. This is where you got me to see that there was more to life than following Wily’s orders … This is where we first had sex.”
Rockman blinked, a tear falling down his cheek. “This is where we fell in love … When we first realized we didn’t have to be enemies, even if we had to fool Wily.”
Forte shifted, closing the scant distance, giving Rockman a hug. “You just fought down your madness on your own. Now you know how I always did it. I’d think of something that meant a lot to me. Something I didn’t want to live without. I always thought of you when my chaos and darkness tried to take me over. You were always my lifeline to sanity … just like I’ll now be your lifeline.”
Rockman nodded as he latched onto Forte before sobbing quietly against the dark ‘bot’s armor.
Forte said nothing as he held Rockman close, tenderly caressing his back. He was just glad that Right hadn’t changed Rockman’s armor. At least something would still be the same. He simply let the other robot cry his pain out, knowing that was the only thing that had helped him. Being able to escape Wily so he could latch onto Gospel and cry his own pain out.
Only when Rockman’s sobs had ended did Forte move, reaching up to wipe away his tears. “I still love you, no matter what,” he said softly as he tilted Rockman’s chin up, surprised to see the flecks of red gone from his dark sapphire gaze.
“I love you too,” Rockman said, his voice the same pitch and tone but having that underlying youthful quality about it.
“Forever and always,” Forte said before he leaned ahead and gave Rockman a deep, loving kiss.
He smiled when Rockman returned the kiss, not fierce but gentle, soft, much like how Rockman once was.
“The song of battle,” Forte said as he broke the kiss, “is something you never want to get rid of. It’ll help you. But, you need to learn how to control it so you don’t start destroying the place. It’s not going to be easy but I’m sure you can learn.”
Rockman nodded. “I could feel it,” he said, shivering some, “I could feel it deep in my core. It wanted me to attack you. It wanted me to fight, no matter what. It wanted me to view you as a threat, as a danger to me …”
“But you knew it was wrong,” Forte said, “you knew I really wasn’t the enemy. You were able to fight it back.”
“I-I almost couldn’t,” Rockman said, “I wasn’t strong enough … “
“It’s going to take time to learn,” Forte said, “just like using your new body is going to take time. So … how about we take it for a ‘test’ drive while we’re here?”
Rockman blinked at that. “You mean fight?” he asked.
Forte laughed softly at that. “No. I was thinking of something more … satisfying than a battle. Though, afterwards, once you’ve regained your senses, I wouldn’t mind having a fight with you, just to see how good your old man did upgrading your battle skills.”
Rockman blushed at that before nodding. “Oh, ok.”
Forte smiled before he leaned ahead to kiss Rockman gently, lovingly. Every so often he’d rake his lover’s tongue with his fangs, glad he had them back. He had really missed them. He silently asked Gospel, since Rush hadn’t come with Rockman, to leave so they could enjoy themselves. He heard his wolf leaving even as he felt the mental nuzzle.
Returning his attention back to Rockman, Forte pleased his lover with his tongue, smirking when Rockman began to squirm a bit. He teased Rockman a bit longer before pulling back. “I think you need to remove something,” he said.
Rockman blinked before blushing a bit more and nodding. His armor flared and faded, leaving him as naked as he had been when Forte had left.
Forte banished his armor as well, knowing he was still naked under it as well. He held Rockman close for a moment, letting their hardness rub together, earning him a breathy moan from his lover. “I take it you want something?” he asked, knowing full well what Rockman wanted.
“What do you think?” Rockman asked instead.
“Hmm … should I give it to you or not … ” Forte said, a smirk on his face.
“If you don’t, I will,” Rockman said as he looked directly into Forte’s eyes.
“You would, wouldn’t you,” Forte said, not liking how cold Rockman’s eyes seemed at that moment, “well, no matter how much older you think you are, I’m still the dominant one in this relationship.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Rockman said as he took Forte’s hand and lowered it to his growing hardness.
Forte was shocked by that but he nodded, gently stroking Rockman even as he resumed his kiss. He wasn’t sure if he liked this more bolder Rockman or not. He was more used to his lover being a naive prude rather than a dirty-minded sex maniac. Though he knew it was something he could get used to, after all, so long as he could keep him under control.
Maybe, he dimly mused, there was hope for Rockman. Maybe he could escape his madness and live life, more or less, like he used to. He knew he didn’t mind how he was changing, well, not really. He still had a hard time remembering to keep his battle edge on, considering it was so easy to forget about it and think, something he knew was fatal in battle.
Though, he reminded himself as he bit down on Rockman’s tongue gently, earning him a breathy moan, this wasn’t battle. This was a time for them to share each other, to remind themselves just what had brought them together in the first place, especially since they were in that fateful grotto that had led to them becoming a couple.
Forte moaned himself when he felt Rockman’s hands roaming his chest, fingers teasing his nipples. He felt his chest arching a bit, even as he let himself get a bit rougher with Rockman, but not by much. He still couldn’t get used to the fact that his lover was almost as big as he was. When he felt Rockman wind his fingers around him, stroking his hardness gently, the dark ‘bot moaned.
“Forte,” Rockman breathed out, “I want you.”
“I know you do,” Forte said softly as he pulled back, letting go of Rockman, taking his lover by the hand and leading him over to the large rock they had put in the middle.
Rockman sat, spreading his legs, a deep blush starting to spread past the tint in his cheeks from what he was feeling.
Forte chuckled as he knelt, taking Rockman in hand before deep-throating him. He felt Rockman wind his fingers into Forte’s hair, holding him there. He wanted to see just what kind of stamina Rockman might have but he knew that could come later.
Instead he wrapped his tongue around Rockman’s hard length, slowly pulling back, making sure to just barely rake him with a fang. Besides being an intimidation factor, he knew his fangs were good for something else. Pleasing his lover.
Rockman moaned deeply, shivering slightly, especially when Forte slipped his tongue under the edge of Rockman’s tip before dragging it up and swirling his tongue over his lover’s slit.
Forte deep-throated Rockman again, swallowing around his treat even as his tongue slid along the base, one hand holding Rockman’s hips down, the other fondling his balls.
When he felt the bitter trickle of Rockman’s seed on the back of his throat he pulled back slowly, raking Rockman again. He sat back and looked up at his lover. “You know … I don’t have any oil on me … “
Rockman held out his hand and a vial formed. “I thought to bring it with me.”
“You sneak,” Forte said with a grin as he took the vial, “you knew this was going to happen, didn’t you?”
Rockman blushed a bit. “Well … I hoped it would end this way.”
“Well, I know what end it’s going to go in anyway,” Forte said as he coated himself, moaning softly before taking a finger and prepping Rockman.
“I should hope you do,” Rockman said with a breathy chuckle before moaning softly.
Forte found that Rockman wasn’t as tight as he had been, wondering if Doctor Right had accounted for what activities they might be engaged in and had made Rockman looser down there so it wouldn’t hurt when he was taken.
Either way, Forte slid a second finger in, still stretching Rockman. He added a third, thrusting gently.
Rockman mewled, his hips thrusting down, seeming to wanting to drive Forte’s fingers deeper into him.
“Desperate already?” Forte asked as he removed his fingers, “how about I help you out?” He shifted, leaning ahead, kissing Rockman deeply as he angled himself, pushing into his lover’s warmth.
Rockman moaned deeply, shifting a bit on the rock to get into a better position, wrapping his legs around Forte, a loving smile on his face.
“I love you so much,” Forte said as he began to thrust deeply and gently into Rockman.
“I love you more,” Rockman said before he kissed Forte deeply.
Forte smirked into the kiss, forced to brace himself against the rock as he thrust deeply into his Rock. His lifeline through all of what he had been through. Even when Rockman wound his arms around Forte’s neck, the dark ‘bot did not stop his fiery kiss. He wanted Rockman to forget everything. Forget his pain, forget what he was going to have to learn, forget the madness that had settled deep in his core. He wanted him to remember the good times, of how he was loved, of how he was cherished, of how he was wanted.
Growling softly, Forte thrust hard into Rockman when he felt the other robot bite down on his tongue, assuming that fiercer pace. Not rough to say the least. He still couldn’t believe that Rockman was now his equal and he still treated him like he was the smaller, more fragile robot.
Rockman broke the kiss, moaning deeply. “More,” he breathed out, “give me more. I can take it now.”
“Are you sure?” Forte moaned out, “I don’t want to hurt you.”
Rockman laughed breathlessly. “I’m a lot stronger than that, you know. Not strong like you are but stronger than I was.”
Forte nodded as he leaned ahead, placing a gentle bite to Rockman’s shoulder as he shifted his angle, hoping Rockman’s sensitive spot was in the same place.
When Rockman screamed, his body shuddering, Forte knew he had found the right place. He made sure not to pierce his lover’s synthetic flesh, pulling back to nuzzle the crook of his neck when Rockman’s shoulder arched.
“Let it go,” Forte whispered as he pounded hard and fast into Rockman, “make me come.”
He placed another gentle bite to the side of Rockman’s neck, raking the tender flesh with his fangs.
Rockman did scream at that, his body arching hard, shuddering almost painfully.
Forte felt Rockman’s warmth splatter against his chest, even as he felt him pulsing hard around him. He thrust a few more times into his lover before he found his own release, his hips jerking as he filled Rockman with his love.
He looked down at his lover, giving him soft kisses, even as he felt him pulsing around him, seeming to try and draw more of his essence out. He couldn’t help but smile lovingly at the other ‘bot, shifting just enough to caress Rockman’s cheek.
“You feel so good,” Rockman said breathily.
“And you’re not going to pass out on me, are you?” Forte asked.
Rockman chuckled as he shook his head. “I have more stamina now.”
“Damn,” Forte said, “that means I can’t watch over you while you sleep.”
“No, it means we can rest together,” Rockman said softly, “like lovers should.”
Forte smiled at that. “Though there’s no good area to rest here.”
“I think I can take care of that,” Rockman said, “Rush!”
Suddenly a red teleport beam slammed into the ground, revealing Rush with some blankets and comforters in his mouth and over his back. Obviously he had buried under them and snagged them in his teleport signal.
“You really thought of this, didn’t you?” Forte asked as he pulled out of Rockman, blushing a bit since Rush would see him.
“The only thing I was thinking of was stopping you from doing something stupid,” Rockman said, “remember, we can communicate with our support units even if they’re not here. So when I realized what you wanted to do, even if I was hoping you would take me, I sent to Rush a thought of bringing something we could lay on.”
Forte laughed at that as he moved over and ruffled Rush’s head. “Thanks,” he said, “do you mind keeping watch with Gospel while we rest?”
Rush yipped before backing out of the blankets, bounding off into the woods.
Forte began to spread the blankets over the ground, blinking when Rockman knelt, helping him.
Once they had the blankets just right, Forte laid down, bringing Rockman with him.
Rockman laughed softly as he nestled against Forte, resting his head on the dark ‘bot’s shoulder.
Forte kept one arm around Rockman as he tenderly caressed his side, a warm, loving smile always on his face. He smiled a bit more when Rockman rested his hand over the dark ‘bot’s core.
“Forever and always,” Rockman whispered.
“Forever and always,” Forte echoed as he ghosted a kiss to Rockman’s hair.
Definitely this was going to take some getting used to. Though, when he was honest with himself, it wasn’t something he was going to regret in the least. Not so long as he could have his lover by his side.
Closing his eyes, Forte rested, not tired in the least. His heart and soul finally at peace with the changes he had gone through, accepting how Rockman had changed. He was just glad that they could work things out, even if he had a feeling the future would be filled with pitfalls, both from Wily’s wrath as well as Rockman’s madness. Forte knew it would be a full time job keeping the blue ‘bot from succumbing to the darkness in his soul but, he knew, it was something he had been used to all of his life and he knew how to counteract it. He knew Rockman would never lose his soul completely. The dark ‘bot would make sure of that.
