Disclaimer: I own none of Pokémon except for the situation I put them in. I make no money from this. This will contain only white and black version Pokémon (for a while anyway.) Enjoy. |
Posting this as one was apparently too much so I had to split it up. Without further ado the rest of the chapter.
“Duplicate. Now you see that small one?”
“Zor” he replied.
“Bring him to us, we are going further down the tunnel lure him to us ok?”
“Zor” he responded with a nod. The Timburr was walking around swinging his timber around, when he saw Conkeldurr standing in the entrance. It motioned for him to follow it. Timburr wanting to obey his leader hesitated none and ran to follow him. Around three turns he came face to face with Patrick and Rachael. He looked around for Conkeldurr and saw him somehow behind him, now morphing back into Zoroark.
“Timburr!” he shouted raising his beam.
“Zoroark Night Slash.”
“You know this is a bad match up right, fighting to dark?”
“Yes but do you hear that?” Now that he pointed it out she could hear a dull rumble growing in volume. “They heard its cry and they are coming.” With no biding she called out her Gigalith and commanded it to use rock slide collapsing the tunnel the Gurdurrs were coming from.
“That should buy us some time.” She said. Luckily there was a light hole on this side of the rock slide or they would be fighting in the dark. He called out Rufflet.
“Air Slash!” It stuck the Timburr causing him to stagger.
A muffled “CONKELDURR!” was heard, rocks flew from the blockage but it was still holding.
“Sounds like big hoss arrived.”
“Yeah if we don’t finish quick we are done for.” In the tunnel Rufflet’s air attacks were severely weakened, not being able to get the force necessary behind them. Again the Conkeldurr was pounding on the wall sending small rocks and pieces flying.
“Wing Attack.” Timburr swung his beam and connected with Rufflet’s wing; he spun out of control and hit the wall. “Zoroark assault him, Fury Swipes till he’s down!”
“Zoroark!” the fury fell on Timburr, he endured bravely but under the unending fury of Zoroark’s claws he fell. Zoroark quickly backed up, the poké ball flew, it was inches from Timburr; somehow he brought his beam up and deflected it.
“Audino” he heard in the background, it was Rachael healing his Rufflet. He turned to her.
“Can he fight?”
She shook her head. “Heal Pulse can only do so much, it’s too severe. Recall him.” He did. Timburr was rising,
“Zoroark resume Fury Swipes.”
“Zoro.” The beam was devastating when in action. It caught Zoroark in the upper arm, a sickening crack and Zoroark stumbled back.
“Tragg go! You can’t break his bones.”
“GIGA!” roared Tragg.
“Power Gem.” The little rocks that rose from the floor pelted Timburr, but he used his beam to block some. “Stone Edge?” he asked questionably to Tragg.
“Lith.” He growled with a nod.
“Stone Edge?” Rachael asked.
“A powerful move, I wasn’t sure he knew it, he does.” The red crystal-like feature on his head glowed white and moving with surprising speed he struck the Timburr with it bring him down once again. The rock was fracturing more and more as the Conkeldurr beat at it. Patrick wasted no time in throwing the poké ball, this time Timburr had no energy to deflect it. It hit him on the head and after a valiant battle with the ball he was caught.
“Go now.” Rachael said. They recalled their Pokémon and ran like he devil was chasing them, they hadn’t gone ten feet when the rock blockage they created was blasted apart by a mighty swing from the Conkeldurr.
“Oh he’s pissed.”
“You caught one of his clan, yeah, I’d say he was mad.” She stopped and called Giga.
“Stealth Rock” Rocks broke through the floor baring the path of the pursuing Pokémon. They started running again.
“CONKELDURR!” then a loud crushing sound and the pounding of chasing feet resumed.
“Damn that didn’t last long.” She commented. Finally out of breath and near collapsing they reached the small entrance they crawled through and just ran, no real direction in mind, just the hell away from there. They ran out of the tunnel back into the center of Twist Mountain, slowing to a jog and finally stopping.
They glanced back the way they had come but saw no pursuit. “Did they not follow us out of the crevice?” she asked.
“I have no idea. You having fun yet?”
“Oh yeah tons.” She replied.
“Let’s take a break here then it should be time to head back to the city.”
As Rachael got out the remains of the food she had brought Patrick looked through his Pokédex.
“Ah damn it.” he commented.
“What is it?”
“Your Woobat.”
“What about it? It’s in the poké ball.”
“No it’s a duel type, psychic/flying both of which are strong to fighting meaning Timburr. I could have used him and it would have gone a whole lot faster, and a lot less broken bones.”
“Audino’s done what she can, but like I said Heal Pulse can only do so much.”
“Why are you looking up Woobat anyway? I’m going to try and get rid of him, he’s not my type of Pokémon.”
“He was listed before Timburr I was just scrolling through.” They finished up lunch and headed back to the city he had two Pokémon that required serious medical treatment and didn’t want to waste any more time before they got it.
“It’s just as well we are going back now, that was the last of the food. I’m glad I ordered large, I didn’t know how long we would be out here and I didn’t want to run out.” she said while packing up. With that they got on her scooter and headed back to the city.
They headed straight to the Pokémon center upon entering the city. He dropped off all the Pokémon he had used, as did Rachael, although she was sure they would have been fine had she not.
“So while that’s going on what are we going to do?” she asked.
“I want to talk to Professor Juniper. There is something about Litwick…” Then he started off in the direction of the professor’s house without finishing the sentence.
“I guess we are going there then.” She said to no one and headed after him.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK. The door opened “Well hello there my boy. How have you been?”
“I’ve been good, do you have a minute? I have a question or two.”
“Sure come in, come in.” He led them to his sitting room and gestured for them to sit. “Now what has got you confused, that I can help you with?”
“It a Litwick I caught, here I’ll show you.” He tossed out Litwick’s ball. It opened in a shower of stars. “I didn’t know it did that.” Patrick muttered at the sudden event.
“Litwick”
“Oh ho! That’s a shiny there boy!”
“A shiny?”
“It’s a Pokémon with an alternate coloration than you normally see. It doesn’t have any effect other than appearance.” Patrick looked him over. It had the white body and a light blue flame atop his head plus one visible green eye.
“I thought it looked different but I thought maybe I wasn’t seeing the picture in the Pokédex right. Is it true it absorbs life energy from people and Pokémon?”
“I don’t really know if that’s exactly true. I believe it drains energy from people and Pokémon, as to it being life energy…Being around it for long periods of time, can could you to fall asleep from lack of energy and if it doesn’t leave you won’t wake up which could result in death, but as to losing time of life by using one I don’t believe that. Name him, use him, defeat your opponents, or just have him around as a friend.”
“Uh professor?”
“Yes?”
“Do you know if there is a place to take Pokémon you don’t want anymore?”
“You have a Pokémon you don’t want? May I ask why you caught it?”
“I didn’t mean to, let me explain.” she said seeing the look on his face. “We were sitting in our camp at Twist Mountain where we just came from, I was idly tossing my poké ball in the air and catching it. I tossed it up and I heard it open and catch this.”
“Woobat” he cried popping from the poké ball. The professor started laughing.
“I didn’t know it was there!” she said in excitement.
“Sorry, but that is quite funny. You didn’t weaken it or anything. It must be quite young or…”
“What?”
“Recall it please.” She did. “I didn’t want it to hear, it might be a runt, or something could be wrong with it. I don’t know for sure, I’d go with young that’s usually the case.”
“I don’t really want it though.”
“Keep it awhile it may grow on you.”
“Oh professor my Pawniard evolved.”
“That’s good to hear. I bet you were quite proud when that happened.” Patrick and Rachael exchanged a glance. “You’re not happy he evolved?”
“No it’s not that, it’s the manner in which it happened that’s all.”
“Well don’t keep me in suspense.” Patrick relayed the story of the attack and a bit of the back story to add understanding the questions that might arise. “You mentioned Zoroark, I assume that means your Zorua evolved too?”
“Yeah that was more of a normal evolution he won a fight and evolved.”
“Well they might steer clear of you from now on or look to take you in a fight, either way be careful. Back to your unusual evolution. In extreme cases of stress, fear or in your Pawniard’s case anger I’m guessing, Pokémon can evolve. It’s not frequent or unheard of, it’s more of a freak occurrence. Think nothing of it, he evolved to protect you that says he has great trust in you.”
“Well thanks for your time professor, I appreciate it. We need to get back to the Poké center and see how our Pokémon are doing.”
“No trouble at all my boy, anytime you have a question don’t hesitate to ask me. What’s wrong with your Pokémon?” Just a little trouble with a Timburr I caught, he fractured Rufflet’s wing and broke Zoroark’s arm. I’m sure they are fine but I want to be sure.” And with that they left the professor’s house. With the drive back to the city and the trip to the prof.’s house the day had slipped away. They arrived back at the Pokémon center. Penelope was at the front desk.
“Hello Penelope. How are they doing?” he asked.
“Fine, you can pick up Zoroark and Rufflet tomorrow. Here are your Bisharp and your Gigalith. Here are yours too Rachael.” Patrick withdrew his new Pokémon from the PC as did Rachael and they headed for home.
They picked up pizza on the way home deciding they didn’t want to go out. After they were done with dinner Rachael called out her Woobat.
“Going to give it a try?” Patrick asked.
“I might as well. Hello Woobat.”
“Woobat!”
Patrick called out Litwick.
“Litwick.”
“You need a name don’t you Litwick?”
“Lit.”
“How about Flicker?” He had his back to Rachael so he didn’t see the massive eye roll she did at hearing the name along with the look of really that’s what you’re going to call him? They spent the rest of the night bonding with their Pokémon. Well Rachael tried; she just couldn’t get around the weird feel of him. She had no trouble bonding with Drilbur. Patrick had no trouble at all with Flicker. Finally they decided to call it a night, and headed to bed very tired from the exploits of the day.
He woke up alone the next morning, of course he knew he would, she had the early shift at the Pokémon Center. He had to swing by there to pick up Zoroark and Rufflet. He got dressed grabbed his Pokémon and was out the door. He called out Timburr as he exited the door he would take him for a walk to the center. “Timburr.” he said spinning his beam then tucking it under his arm. They set off for the center via the park which Patrick didn’t want to do, but it was faster.
It wasn’t ten minutes later he heard an argument. And he recognized the bully, Mister Bodybuilder. This guy needed his ass kicked again. He was bullying some kid for reasons unknown he had no Pokémon he was just standing there.
“Where are you going?”
“We are going home.”
“WE? I only see you. Who’s we?”
“I’m here with Lonely.” At that comment the bodybuilder should have backed off, just by the wording of the comment, and by the fact the kid released his Pokémon behind his back, which the builder didn’t see.
“That’s terrible grammar kid. You need to go back to school.” A smile crossed the kids face.
“I said I’m here with Lonely, not alone.”
“Huh?”
“This is Lonely, and he’s going to school you.” The kid said stepping aside revealing his Mienfoo ready and in fighting position.
“FOO!” He flew up and Force Palmed the builder in the forehead. He hit the ground like a ton of bricks.
Patrick walked up to the kid. “Hey, that was funny.”
“Yeah no one really expects it.”
“A Mienfoo was my first Pokémon.”
“Was?” the kid inquired.
“Yeah, he got sick and didn’t make it. Wish I had another one.”
“You want one?”
“Well yeah, but they aren’t around this area.”
“Here take this.” he said handing him an egg.
“What is this?”
“It’s a Mienfoo egg. One is enough for me I was just going to find a place to take this, and maybe give it a good home.”
“Wow thanks!” he said in complete shock.
“You’re welcome. My names John by the way.” He said holding out his hand.
“My names Patrick.” He said shaking his hand. John walked off. Patrick just stood staring at the egg not believing his luck.
He walked into the Poké center holding the egg and made his way to the counter.
“Hello Lisa.”
“Hi honey. That comes later.” She said with a grin.
“And it did.” He replied remembering the conversation they had at dinner several nights before about being tied up.
“I know she told me, said I was a bad influence on you.” They both laughed at this comment.
“Let me grab your Pokémon.”
“All right.”
Rachael came out moments later “Please tell me you’re here to rescue me…and what the hell is that?” she said noticing the egg.
“I got it from a kid in the park, he was looking for a place to leave it as he didn’t want more than one, he might have brought it here, but we got to talking and he gave it to me. If you can hold it for me I can run to the market and get a backpack to carry him in.”
“Ok fine hurry back.” He could tell she wasn’t all that thrilled with the meeting in the park and the subsequent receiving of a Pokémon egg. He was back in almost no time with a red backpack, standard issue for all trainers. She had the egg wrapped in a warm blanket from the back and she was holding it. He placed the blanket in the backpack then the egg on top of that folding half the blanket over the top to keep it nice and warm in the chilly weather that was outside.
“We ran a few quick tests on the egg, you will be happy to know it’s in perfect health.” Lisa said from behind Rachael.
“Now I have to get back to work, mountain of paperwork you’re on your own for lunch I can’t get away.”
He decided to head back to the apartment and grab something for lunch on the way home. After he was done eating he checked the egg, not that he had expected something to change but more out of nervous habit. He felt the blanket that was wrapped around it had lost a lot of its heat so he threw some blankets in the dryer. He called out Zoroark and Rufflet.
“You two feel better?”
“Zoro.” He said with a nod and a few quick jabs.
“Rufflet!” He chirped flagging his wings.
“Zor.” he growled lowly his eyes narrowing to slits.
Patrick realized Timburr was behind him. “No we will have none of that, we are all friends now.” He said thinking it sounded better than owned by me. He saw Rufflet accepted it but Zoroark looked reluctant, but complied. Why did all his dark Pokémon hold a grudge? He thought, was that something about them? The buzzer to the dyer went off and he retrieved the blankets to rewrap the egg. He whiled away the time till Rachael got home playing with his Pokémon and talking to them. Finally he heard the door rattle. He hurried up to it as Rachael came through here she said handling him the pizza boxes she had brought.
“Four? Are we having company?” he asked joking but was surprised by her sudden “Yes.”
“We are?”
“Yeah Lisa and Greg are coming over. After she goes and picks him up they will be here. I hope you are not all dirty from…what did you do today?”
“Just spent time with Timburr and some of the others.”
“Oh good.”
A little while later came a knock on the door.
“Hello.” Rachael said as she opened the door.
“Hi” Greg responded. Lisa just smiled and waved. She saw Patrick and greeted him with a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.
“I know why you did that. Jess.” Lisa just smiled again. Lisa and Greg released a few of their Pokémon, Patrick knew all Greg’s until the Venipede popped out. “When did you get that?” Patrick asked.
“Few days ago, you were on your trip to Twist. I call him Creepy Crawler, Creepy or Crawler for short.” Having never seen Lisa’s Pokémon he was a bit surprised. She had a Whimiscott and Lilligant with her.
“I have a Zebstrika and Blue-striped Basculin at home.” she commented. As they ate they continued the Pokémon talk.
“Those are stone evolutions right?” Patrick asked.
“Yep.”
“Is it true they can’t learn new moves after they evolve?”
“I wouldn’t know, they know their most powerful attacks.”
“Really?”
“Shall I demonstrate the Solar Beam?”
“NOOO!”
“Or her Leaf Storm?” she asked gesturing to the Lilligant. Both Rachael and Patrick were shaking their heads.
“Leaf Storm in winter might be difficult.” Greg pointed out.
“How’s your egg?” Lisa finally asked.
“Egg, what egg?” Greg asked.
“I got one today from a kid in the park.”
“You meet this kid that just happened to have an egg and he just decided to give it to you? Can I have some of your luck? Why can’t I meet people like that?”
“It’s a Mienfoo, that’s why he gave it to me, we got to talking and I mentioned I had one. He had one already and said he didn’t want two so he was going to give the egg away.” He relayed the story of the meeting in the park and the fight the kid had with the intellectual lightweight. The conversation trailed off after that as they discussed Pokémon until Lisa said
“Oh I wanted to see your Snowcone.”
“My what?”
“Pokémon stud.” Rachael said elbowing him.
“Oh right.”
“I wouldn’t mind seeing your Snowcone either.” Lisa said with an insinuative tone leaving him in no confusion as to what she meant this time. He called out Snowcone the Vanillish. “Oh he is so cute!” Lisa cooed. “I want one!”
“Where did you get it?”
“My backyard actually.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, we went out looking for Pokémon, and we stopped by the house because we were freezing. I let out Yeti and he wanted to go outside, when I let him out there he was floating across the backyard in his own personal blizzard, but he was a Vanillite then. Here.” he said showing her its picture from the Pokédex. They were sitting in a blizzard Vanillish was now creating. “He looks like a blue light bulb without his snow covering.” Patrick commented about the pre-evolution form.
“Next day I’m off I’m going to go catch one, because that one is even cuter.” Lisa said. “You can come with me.” she said to Greg. “Can I see Yeti too?” She continued. He called out Yeti.
“Cubchoo!”
“Ah, he’s like a little teddy bear.” Lisa said reaching down and hugging him.
“Choo!” he cried in delight.
The last days before his job started passed in a blur; Rachael was always worn out from working so there was little together time unless they were asleep and he didn’t do much except watch the egg and keep it warm. The day before the first day he started, he was veg’ing on the couch lightly dozing when he heard a slight cracking sound. He was wide awake staring at the egg. He had it on the cushion next to him.
It was shaking and fracturing all over, he heard a muffled “foo” and a fist punched through the shell. Next the top shattered and a Mienfoo arose from the remains of the shell. “Mienfoo.” It said firmly.
“Hello Mienfoo.” He was unsure what to do, did he have to catch it or was it his because he hatched it, was it even old enough to catch? He grabbed the phone and called Professor Juniper, it was his daughter, he didn’t have Cedric’s number.
“Hello?” she answered.
“Hello Professor Juniper, this is Patrick I got…” “I remember, how can I help you?”
“I got an egg and it just hatched, do I have to catch the Pokémon or will it immediately listen to me?”
“Since you are the first one it sees it will establish a connection to you as a mother or father as it were, you can catch it but you shouldn’t have too. I’d say offer it a poké ball and see what it does it may choose to catch itself or not.”
“Thank you, I’ll see what it does.”
“Anytime, if you need anything else just call.” He turned back to the Mienfoo. He had some Pokémon food sitting nearby and offered it some. He had a few bites but didn’t eat a lot. Slice was sitting in the corner watching them. The Mienfoo hopped to the floor. Patrick slid down to the floor too and pulled out the transfer poké ball.
“Hey Mienfoo.” He said. “Want to play?”
“Mienfoo!” it cried in delight. He rolled the poké ball which Mienfoo rolled back. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. As it rolled to Mienfoo, Slice spoke up.
“Sharp sharp Bisharp!” Mienfoo looked at him then to the poké ball, then back to Slice, who nodded to the poké ball. Mienfoo slammed down on the button. It popped open and caught the Mienfoo.
“Slice you tricked him didn’t you?”
“Sharp.” he said with a shrug and in a way that said yes I did.
“I have to go get him now.”
“Bisharp” he leapt to his feet. They both headed to the Pokémon center.
He walked in the sliding door of the Pokémon center, oddly he didn’t see one of the girls at the front counter.
“That’s weird, one of them is always there.” He stood at the desk waiting for one of them to come out. After about two minutes and no one came out he walked over to the transfer unit and retrieved his Mienfoo. “Hello?” he called out after returning to the desk. An Audino walked out. “Is there someone I can talk too?”
“Audino.” It turned and walked back out. Moments later Lisa came through the door,
“May I help you?” She said in a false happy voice, he could tell something was wrong.
“What’s the…” At seeing him her eyes grew wide and she pulled him through the door.
“Come here.” She steered him to the back room. He saw the rest of the girls, a couple he had never met as they didn’t work the front desk. One was lying on a bed, then he saw the red hair of the girl on the cart, it was Rachael.
“What’s wrong with her?” he said rushing to her side.
“We don’t exactly know she just kind of collapsed. We suspect over worked or stress from the heavy workload. Probably not overworked she’s had plenty of off days.” Lisa explained. “I was wondering if she told you anything that might be bothering her.”
“Other than that Woobat she didn’t want I can’t think of anything.”
“Well I doubt that’s it, so it’s probably the stress from the heavy workload. When she wakes up I want you to take her home.” She pulled a chair up to the bed and he sat down grabbing a hold of her hand. She responded slightly as her hand clinched his. Slice was just a bystander to all this, nothing he could really do besides stand around. So having nothing to do he sat down on the floor across from Patrick.
It was several minutes later when she finally stirred “What happened?” she said slowly opening her eyes and seeing the ceiling.
“They said you collapsed.”
She looked at him in surprise “What are you doing here?”
“I came in to get the Mienfoo checked, he hatched.”
“Oh that’s nice.” she said wearily.
“And Lisa told me what happened. Slice go grab Lisa.” he leapt up and darted off. Seconds later he literally pulled her through the door, he had her hand and she was rolling behind him in the chair. “I didn’t mean literally.” he said lowly so Slice didn’t hear him. “Thanks Slice.”
“Oh good you’re up, I’m sending you home. I say you get a couple days bed rest and maybe a few days of fresh air.”
“You want me gone for four days?”
“So you get better? Yes. Now off you go.”
On the way home she asked “Can we stop by the professor’s house? I have to get rid of this Woobat, I tried I just can’t like him.” she saw the look on his face so she followed it up. “This is the perfect time, you start work tomorrow and then I’d have to go alone.”
“Ok we can swing by there.” They took the turn to his house and were there in no time flat. “Hello my boy and lovely girl. How can I help you today?”
“It’s her Woobat.”
“I really want to get rid of it, I’m sorry but I just don’t like him.” She said giving a shudder.
“Well that’s easily done.”
“It’s is? You made it sound hard last time.”
“Rightly so, I wanted you to try to like him but if you can’t we can get rid of him.”
“Can you transfer it to Patrick’s possession without it being considered a trade?”
“I’m not really sure, I don’t think so, but you can release it and he can catch it. Let’s go to the backyard.” He pulled a small device out and placed it on a patio table “Place the ball on here.” It hummed for a minute then the ball opened and the Woobat was out. “He is no longer yours. If you want him hurry and attack before he runs.” He tossed out Tynamo, one he’d never used before but he knew his attacks.
“Spark Tynamo.” It was a low yield attack but Woobat could handle none of it and fell to the ground like a sack of potatoes. He tossed his ball and Woobat was his and transferred.
“That was fast he must be quite young.”
“Thank you professor.” She said.
“No trouble my dear it’s my job to help young trainers or people with questions as the situation calls for.” They left after thanking him once more and headed home.
He carried her through the door; she had nearly collapsed again on the way back home. He laid her down on the couch and after making sure she was fine went to make her a glass of tea. “Rachael I brought you a drink.” He said setting it down on the table in front of her.
“I’ll get it later.” She tossed a poké ball, well more like let one roll, it was Audino. In all the events Patrick realized he never got his Mienfoo checked out.
“Hey Audino can you check him out real quick?”
“Audi.” After several minutes Audino gave a thumbs up indicating all was good with Mienfoo.
“I guess you don’t know any good moves.” Patrick said looking through the Pokédex. Cubchoo was just sitting there playing with a piece of string he had found. Mienfoo walked over to him and picked him up and tossed him across the room.
“Vital Throw. A Fighting type move. By allowing the opposing Pokémon to move first they can’t miss with this attack.” Cubchoo was laying against the wall his head literally going in circles, giant snot bubble still intact.
“Ok so you know a good move.” Cubchoo coming to jumped to his feet, slightly crouching and his arms out, the air starting to swirl around him creating a powerful wind storm. “Yeti stop!” Patrick called. Yeti looked at him and ceased his attack. Patrick picked up the string and handed it back to Yeti. “He won’t do it again, I promise.” He went back to playing with the string again. “Mienfoo wasn’t there a better way to show me your move?”
“Mien.” He shook his head. Bisharp had reclaimed his spot in the corner surveying the room.
Around six o clock there was a knock on the door. It was Greg and Lisa, and to Patrick’s surprise Penelope.
“We brought some dinner.” Lisa said.
“That’s nice. She's on the couch. I’ll set the table.”
“Hey Rach.” Penelope said. “How you doing?”
“I’m doing better.”
“We talked to the Poké center upper management, they are going to assign a secondary position so you won’t have so much work to do. You have a two week vacation.”
“Two weeks? I thought it was four days.”
“No they want you to have plenty of time to decompress.” Penelope said.
“What am I going to do for two weeks?”
“Don’t know but you got two weeks.” Lisa put in.
Patrick helped her up and they all went to the table to eat.
Dinner was over, everyone had moved back to the sitting room. “It was weird I don’t remember passing out or felling sick or dizzy. I was sitting filling out some papers and Lisa came in,” as she said that Lisa looked up surprised, wide eyed and shook her head. Rachael continued. “Well she came in and said something about a rush of people and I would have to do the papers later. So we went out to the front and there were hundreds of people there. I saw you Patrick, in the back holding one of your Pokémon I can’t remember which one, I was fighting to get to you but there were so many people I couldn’t make it. They kept pushing and pushing me, and for some reason you couldn’t hear me calling. It was awful. Then I woke up and realized it was a dream, well a nightmare actually.”
“Well you can see him for two whole weeks now.” Lisa said. Patrick and Greg both shook their heads.
“And why not?” Lisa demanded.
“The park opens tomorrow.” Greg said quietly quelling Lisa rage.
“Oh. I forgot. Sorry about that.”
“I understand.” Patrick said.
“You are off tomorrow Lisa, why don’t you take Rachael and visit the park it would be good for her to get out in the fresh air instead of being cooped up in this apartment.” Penelope put in. They kind of forgot she was there, it wasn’t intentional she was just a quiet person. She was about five and half feet tall and with waist length green hair. She could be in the rainbow gang had they not already had a green one. Her face was small and she wore a pair of glasses that just added to her beauty.
“That’s a great idea Pen!” Lisa said. Penelope gave her an annoyed look, they were all friends but she disliked that nickname. A pen is a writing utensil not her, but lacking anything better and being naturally shy and submissive she dealt with it.
“I thought you wanted a Vanillite?” Rachael said.
“Oh damn, I do.”
“Tell you what, we can make a day of it, we go get you one early in the morning and swing by the park a little before lunch.” Rachael suggested.
“Sounds good, let’s do that.” Lisa agreed. It was getting late so they decided they had to go, slowly they got up and left. Lisa gave Patrick a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Penelope was the last to leave as she looked Rachael over once more to make sure she was ok regardless of Rachael’s protests. She gave Patrick a hug whispered something in his ear, and with a quick peck she was gone too.
“What did you tell you?”
“Her number.” he answered immediately.
“Ass.” He sat down next to her and pulled her over to him so she was partially laying on him.
“You know I love you and that’s all that matters now.” He told her. She closed her eyes with a smile to enjoy his comforting warm embrace.
He woke up before her for the second time. He took a shower, and got dressed, it didn’t matter what he wore his uniform would be waiting for him at the park. She still slept. He was sitting in the kitchen drinking a soda debating on waking her up when she walked in and gave him a good morning kiss.
“Where you going to leave without waking me?” she asked.
“I thought you might need the rest so I was going to let you sleep a little while longer. I would have woken you before I left. Are you going Pokéhunting with Lisa today?” he inquired.
“I guess.” she said with very low energy.
“Are you alright? You still sound bad.”
“I have a cold. I know now it was one of the reasons I passed out at work and why I can’t seem to concentrate. I think I got it at Twist Mountain.” She didn’t mean to say the last part. It was his idea to go to Twist Mountain and he would blame himself for it, and sure enough.
“I’m sorry about that. Penelope said as much last night.” He said.
“No it’s not your fault.” she was quick to dismiss that thought from his mind. “It’s just one of those things that’s happens. She did?”
“Yeah she whispered that you might have a cold. I don’t know why she did but…Well I hope you feel better, I have to run I want to swing by the Pokémon center real quick and have them thoroughly look Mienfoo over.” He said getting up and giving her a kiss.
“A few more of those and I will be right as rain.”
He walked through the door to the Pokémon center. He knew Lisa and Penelope were off, and they were the desk nurses; he wondered who would be on the desk today. He walked up to the desk and rang the bell on the counter. Moments later a nurse came through the door.
“Hello I’m Sakura how can I help you?” he was momentarily dumbstruck. She was absolutely gorgeous. She had long straight dark hair that covered most of her face. He could just see her eyes nose and mouth, the rest was hidden. She was the same height as him and large chested. She put Lisa and Rachael to shame, plus her voice was like honey on glass. “Can I help you?” She asked again.
“Uh yeah” he said snapping out of it. “I want you to look over my Mienfoo he just hatched and I want to make sure he is okay.”
“Alright no problem.” She said taking the Pokémon to the back.
“I thought I saw you come in here” he heard from behind him. He turned to see Greg.
“Oh hey how’s it going?”
“Good, and you?”
“I’m just having Mienfoo looked over. To see if he is okay. With all that was going on yesterday with Rachael I didn’t get to tell you he hatched.”
“Nice. I bet the girls Alex and Jess would love to see him.”
“I bet.” He said with a grin. “You know it’s funny, had I not meet Rachael I would never have tried for this and never have meet Alex or Jess but because I meet Rachael I meet all these girls that seem to like me and I can’t do anything.”
“I know the feeling, before Rachael introduced me to Lisa and got us together I was going to ask out Alex.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I love Rachael but it’s quite a pain.” At that moment Sakura came back out and handed him Mienfoo.
“He’s in perfect health. So how is Rachael doing?” she asked handing Mienfoo back. He could see Greg was having the same trouble he was with Sakura. “Oh she’s fine but she’s got a cold, she thinks that and the stress is the cause of her collapse yesterday.”
“Well tell her we hope she gets better soon.”
“I will.” He grabbed Greg’s arm and pulled him out the door.
“Did you…oh damn, did you…” he stammered.
“Yes I know, when did she start? I’ve never seen her before.”
“I have to ask Lisa when she stops by today, if she stops by.” They walked to the park.
“Oh he’s so cute!” Jess said as she picked up Mienfoo.
“He is” Alex commented too. They had changed into their uniforms and were now waiting for the rest of their crews to arrive. They had to be there earlier than the rest as they were the bosses. Jess handed him to Alex. She gave him a hug which Patrick assumed he enjoyed, who wouldn’t? The uniforms were simple red outfits that had little squares over the chest pocket to designate which section of the park they controlled. Patrick was psychic, ghost, dark, and dragon. Greg was rock, ground, poison, and ice. Jess covered the fire, water, grass, and electric sections. Alex was fighting, flying, bug, and steel. Normal was in the center of the park and controlled by all of them.
Lisa arrived at Rachael’s place early. Knock, knock, knock, she tapped on the door.
“Come in” she heard.
“Are we going or do you feel too bad?” Lisa inquired.
“We can go, as long as you drive.” Rachael said.
They had been walking for several minutes when Lisa said “Are you sure he lives around here?”
“No actually he doesn’t.”
“What! Then why are we looking here?”
“Because we won’t find one in the city.”
“What?”
“He lives in the city.” Lisa the answer finally dawning on her.
“You know what I meant.” The snow was about a foot deep, not being walked through a lot it built up unlike in the city. It stepped out of the woods a little ahead of them and looked around, seeming not to notice them at all. Rachael eyes grew wide as she spotted it.
“What?” Lisa asked.
“SHHHHHH!” Rachael hissed as she pulled Lisa behind the nearest tree.
“That thing is crazy, it chased Patrick up a tree!” She continued.
“What?” Lisa asked.
“That Sawsbuck.” She said gesturing in its direction. It looked different in the winter. It had white fur around its legs and on its chest, plus its antlers are bare but it’s the same one. Lisa looked around the tree.
“I can take him.” she said after sizing him up. “Striker can take him”
“Striker?”
“My Zebstrika.” She answered. She called it out. “Flame Charge.”
“Strika” he replied. He charged forward, a shell of fire forming in front of it. The Sawsbuck saw him coming and stood his ground it was a foot taller and saw no challenge posed from the charging Pokémon. Striker slammed into him and knocked him down. The Sawsbuck rebounded quickly, he charged Striker, his horns started glowing, Striker not quick enough to dodge, the horns connected with him, as Striker collapsed a ripple of light passed over Sawsbuck as he regained his strength.
“Stomp him Striker!” The Sawsbuck spun on his front legs and kick Striker with both his rear legs right in the side, causing Striker to momentarily collapse again. Facing Striker again and pressing his advantage he leapt at him and with his front legs he kicked him, sending Striker flying. Suddenly the ground around the Sawsbuck rippled and heaved. Striker was up again without the barrage of attacks he could finally get up. “Thunder Wave.” A bolt shot from Striker’s forehead and connected with the Sawsbuck. “Flame Charge again!” Sawsbuck unable to find stable footing was unable to dodge or retaliate. He fell to his knees and trying to stand once more fell again. Lisa not complaining about the sudden turn or odd ground commanded Striker to repeatedly assault Sawsbuck. Flame Charge after Flame Charge and one Wild Charge, finally the Sawsbuck unable to compensate for the repeated blows fell to the ground, Lisa threw her ball and in no time it went still and he was now hers. The heaving ground ceased. “Wow what a lucky turn of events.” Lisa said.
“Lucky nothing.” Rachael said. “Digger return.” Drilbur burst from the center of the violent earth and ran to her side.
“That was you?” She said more to Drilbur than Rachael.
“Drill!” he nodded.
“I saw you needed help and I knew he could provide it. Me and Patrick work as a team all the time. Well we did before he got so many.”
“I still want a Vanillite.” Lisa said. “It’s cold enough so where are they?” she said expelling a breath that hung in the air.
“Let’s set up in the forest, the trees make it colder so maybe they will be in there.” Rachael said. She wasn’t really sure about her statement but she wanted to rest and hopefully Lisa would buy that explanation. After a minute of thought Lisa agreed. Rachael was exhausted from the walking she had done. She hadn’t mentioned the cold she had to Lisa not wanting to spoil her day off. They had been waiting for several minutes, and Rachael so tired had fallen asleep but she had Voice, her Cinccino, sitting on her lap with its ‘tails’ wrapping her up to keep her warm. Then the snow started falling in earnest.
“Oh great, Snow!” Lisa whispered. Not hearing a reply from Rachael she glanced in her direction, and saw she was asleep.
“It’s snowing.” she said a bit louder.
This rousing Rachael, she mumbled “I know.”
“Well it’s been falling for a long time now. Will that help?”
“I know it has…”
“HA! No it hasn’t, it just started. You were sleeping!”
“Fine I was sleeping, and I don’t know if it will help or not.” They conversed back and forth in whispers.
“Van” they heard lightly drifting on the wind. “Van” they heard again as it came closer. “Van” closer still, then Lisa saw it, the personal blizzard that Vanillite’s produce, and in the center floated Vanillite. She had recalled Striker as he would standout, big black Pokémon in a white forest. She tossed his ball out again, it landed in front of the Vanillite. “Van?” she said as Striker burst forth from the ball shaking his head and pawing the ground.
“Flame Charge.” He charged and stuck Vanillite before she could take in the situation.
“VANILLITE!” A giant icicle shot form her body drilling Striker in the chest. “VAAANNNNNN!” she unleashed a blast of sub artic temperature wind. Striker was like a giant ice sculpture, frozen in place. Lisa called out the only other one she thought could help. Sawsbuck. It appeared before the Vanillite. She saw him and cowered back recognizing him.
“Double Kick” she said not knowing his moves but going by what she saw him use against her. It pivoted and booted the Vanillite into a nearby tree. Vanillite may fear the Sawsbuck but it wouldn’t take punishment without retaliation. It raised the snow from the ground and buried Sawsbuck. A massive vibration could be felt emanating from the pile, then the snow was blown away like a stick of dynamite went off, and there stood Sawsbuck.
“SAWSBUCK!” it cried. Realizing Lisa knew nothing it took over. Its horns began to glow, it charged the Vanillite and slammed its head into her. The ripple of light passed over his body as he regained his strength. Between its horns a green energy ball was forming. It flung its head down and the green energy ball connected with Vanillite. Sawsbuck just turned around. Lisa took this as her cue to throw her poké ball. As she was catching Vanillite, Sawsbuck went over to Striker frozen stiff. It delivered a double kick to Striker and the ice shell encasing him shattered.
They were back in the Pokémon Center. They had gotten their Pokémon back and were sitting in the warm waiting area in the front. “I think I’ll call her Snow White.” she said about Vanillite.
“That’s a nice name.”
“Better than Snowcone?”
“Well in his defense they do look like that. But yes much better.” They laughed at this.
“Is it close to lunch time? I want to go see our guys.” Lisa inquired.
“It’s about eleven.” Rachael replied.
“Well I say we go now, if they are busy we can tour the park and get back to them when they are off.”
“Sure.” Rachael said.
The line to get in was fairly short, but a long wait. The window agents were getting into a routine and not yet proficient. They were walking around to the different exhibits, when they entered the fire section of the park. It was just chance that they passed by Jess who recognized them.
“Hey!” she called running up behind them. She looked different than the last time they saw her, last time it was a short tank top and jeans, now it was red ranger suit and red hat covering her pink striped hair which still fell over one eye.
“Hello.” Lisa replied a little confused.
“It’s me Jess” she replied removing her hat to flash her hair.
“Jess.” Rachael said. “How are you?”
“I’m doing good just tired, there are fires everywhere.” She said with a straight face. Rachael looked to her right at the Charmander habitat then to her left at the Vulpix/Ninetales habitat. “Are you looking for Patrick and Greg?”
“Yes.”
“Last I heard Patrick was in the Gastly habitat, and Greg was wrestling an Onix. Here’s a map.” she said handing it to them. “I’d take you but this place is a powder keg. I leave and boom.”
They headed off to the Ghost section it was closest. “Gastly habitat, fires everywhere, powder keg, wrestling an Onix. Really? She’s a pun factory.” Rachael commented. As it turns out Patrick was in the Gastly Pokémon Habitat, not being a native Pokémon to Unova they knew nothing of it. They arrived and saw there was a Gastly habitat.
“There actually is one.” Lisa pointed out. Patrick had left minutes earlier, but Slice, his Bisharp, was standing at the door to the exhibit. “Is that Slice?” Lisa asked.
“I’ll find out.” Rachael walked right up to him. “Slice?”
“Sharp.” he nodded.
“It’s nice to see you. Where is Patrick?” He pointed to the left then raised his shoulders in a shrug.
“Thank you Slice.” She returned to Lisa. “Yeah that was him. He said Patrick was off in that direction somewhere, or he could be in that direction, he wasn’t to clear.”
“He’s a Pokémon, he doesn’t know words.”
“I understand body language.” At that point they heard Slice bang on the door and yell at the Gastly. They quieted down. Apparently there was a problem with them and he was there to keep the peace. They ran into Patrick shortly after following the left path. “Hey Patrick.” Rachael said from right behind him. He turned and she nearly leapt back in fright. “What the hell?” she asked. He was a mess. Covered in dirt, pockets of his uniform ripped or torn off.
“For ghosts they pack a punch. Finally had to call in Slice to restore order. Three Gastly had a little scuffle. Slice stayed to keep the order.”
“We know, he told me where you might be. Are you OK?”
“Yeah I’m fine, but there are about three Gastly I wouldn’t mind Night Slashing.”
“So where is Greg?” Lisa asked.
“He was wrestling some rocks.”
“Really? We got that from Jess, not you too.”
“No really, he was wrestling a Geodude and Onix last I heard. Trouble in the Rock Habitat, Onix wanted more room so he smashed through the wall separating them, Geodude wasn’t too happy with that. He enlisted his Heatmor and Krokorok to subdue the trouble, it was working too. He probably looks worse than me. They told us this would happen for the first few weeks of operation, it was to be expected. Soon they will become accustomed to their new environment and stop all the aggression.”
“Well let’s go find him see if we can grab some lunch together.”
“I’m a no go on that, I have to head to the Dragon pens they are getting rowdy and two of mine need help.” He said, gave Rachael a kiss and ran off to the Dragon section.
The girls proceeded to the rock section of the park. It wasn’t long before they came across the Onix pin with an inside wall missing to the adjoining pen. “Well someone sure had a party.” Greg was sitting on a bench in front of the pens with his head between his knees exhausted.
“Hey Lisa.” he said without looking up. “Give me…a minute…I…” he was breathing heavy and nearly dead. His red uniform was a nearly brown with the amount of dirt covering him. Lisa sat down next to him.
“Are you ok?”
“I’m fine.” He said looking up; his face was mask of dirt as well. Rachael gave him a wet rag she had Frillish soak. He used it to wipe his face, arms, and hands off.
“Thanks Rachael.”
“You look completely beat.” Lisa continued. “Can we take you to lunch or are you still busy?”
“I guess I can take a break. Nothing super pressing at the moment.”
They made their way to the main area in the center of the park where all the restaurants were, there were food stands throughout the park but none that had real meals. They ordered hamburgers from one with a short line and found a booth in the back to sit at. “So you couldn’t find Patrick?” Greg inquired.
“No we found him first but, he had some trouble in the Dragon section and had to run off.”
“Yeah I saw him earlier he told me about them. They’ve been a problem all day. Lucky he has Cryo and Snowcone.”
“And Yeti” Rachael said.
“Yeah him too.”
“Oh that reminds me I got one today too!” Lisa said barely containing her glee.
“That’s great!”
“I got another one too. I’ll show you him later.”
“I can’t wait for that.”
After they got done with lunch Greg was their personal guide through the rest of his sections, he was spouting off facts he had memorized about each one as they came to it. “Well that’s as far as I can take you.” he said after coming to the last pen in his area. “Enjoy the rest of the park and the rest of your day.”
“Bye.” Lisa said giving him a kiss as Rachael waved.
“Well what do you want to do now?”
“I think this is where Alex is.” Rachael commented.
“Probably. We’ve seen everyone else.”
“Let’s finish looking then head back to my place.” Rachael said.
They were back at her place in a little under two hours. Rachael collapsed on the couch, totally exhausted by the day. Keeping her cold a secret from Lisa had taken all her energy. So Lisa asked. “What do we do now?”
“I say we watch a movie, its cold outside and I want to lay here and get warm.”
“Pick a good one.” Rachael said. She rose and went to the bedroom to change and grab several blankets to wrap up in. She came back with four blankets and in her comfortable clothes. “If you want to get comfortable too you can borrow some clothes.”
“Sure, don’t start it without me. She was back minutes later. Lisa started the movie and then joined Rachael on her couch both of them covered in a blanket.
Rachael was awoken by Lisa xtransceiver ringing. “That was Greg” she said when she as finished. “He wanted to know if he should bring something to for us to eat, I told him I was here so he is getting enough for all of us. You know I was thinking of asking him to move in with me what do you think?”
“Is it going that well with you two?”
“Yeah. He was a little shy at first but I broke him of that quickly.”
“If it’s going that well go for it, he can only say no.”
“What if he does? If he thinks it’s moving too fast he might run, and I don’t want to lose him.” She said holding back tears.
“I don’t think he will do that, he likes you too much. I saw how he looked at you today.”
“Should I ask him here or wait till later?”
“Ask him in private just in case he might feel pressured to say yes.” There was a clicking of the door and Patrick and Greg entered carrying food.
After they all ate their fill they retired to the sitting room. “Can we see your Vanillite?” Lisa had the urge to drop her pants so they could see her ‘Vanillite’, but she suppressed it.
“I call her Snow White.”
“Oh good one.” Greg said. She called her out.
“It looks exactly like Patrick’s did.” Rachael commented.
“Nonsense she is much cuter.” Lisa defended.
“Mines a guy he’s not supposed to be cute, he’s stronger.” Patrick said to get a rise out of Lisa.
“Is that so? How about we test that?”
“Not inside.” was all Rachael said.
“What is this other one you got?” Greg interjected.
“Oh yeah I forgot.” She called out the Sawsbuck.
“I haven’t thought of a name for him yet.”
“How about menace? He chased me up a tree.” The Sawsbuck glanced at him at this comment. “I’m sure he is remembering it now.” Patrick muttered.
“He has a haughty and dignified aura about him. He seems to think everything else is below him.” Greg commented looking him over.
“Yeah we noticed that when I had him fight Snow White.” The evening wound down and they all decided it was time to retire to their places, Patrick and Greg had to get up early but Lisa and Rachael didn’t.
Patrick was sliding into bed as Rachael was changing into her night clothes, which consisted of little more than a long t shirt and a pair of panties. “You know it’s funny.” she said.
“What’s that?”
“Well just last week I was the one getting up early and going to work and you were the one that could sleep in. Now…”
“You will be back to work soon enough.”
“Hopefully this cold goes quickly, I can’t enjoy downtime with a cold.”
The remaining off time passed, Rachael had recovered from her cold after a few days and spent the rest of the time relaxing with her Pokémon. Digger her Dribur had really grown on her. She was returning to work the following day. The night before she had to go to work she was laying in bed waiting for Patrick to arrive.
He came into the room, “It’s about time you got here I’ve been waiting.” Her tone said it all. He changed quickly and joined her.
“I’m here now what do you want?”
“You.” she said shoving him down and hoping on top. She started by kissing him, slowly on the neck moving up to his face. She licked him from one cheek to the other across his lips. She moved one hand down to stoke him. He was already ready. He leaned up and sucked her breast, which started her gasping and moaning. She was done with the foreplay she pulled him from his boxers and slowly rubbed herself against it, then drove it home. She rocked back and forth for several minutes enjoying the feeling of him filling her. She picked up speed and started bouncing and moaning more and more and louder. “UHUHUHUHUHUHUHUHUHUHUHUH! Oh yeah! Fuck me!” she cried out. She couldn’t hold it any longer and she came in several shuttering movements, he came shortly afterword’s filing her completely. “Oh yeah!” She gasped and then collapsed on top of him. “I love you so much.” she said.
“I love you too.” She slid off of him and held him tight as they fell asleep.
They got up about the same time and to save time they shared a shower. He left before she did as he had tasks to get done before the park opened. She soon followed on her way to the Pokémon center.
Most of the Pokémon at the park had acclimated to the new surroundings, others were just as rowdy and destructive as the day they opened, while some had become apathetic, just laying around all day and doing nothing except eating the occasional meal. It was this that led to the problem. Patrick had ceased to carry all his Pokémon with him, not seeing the need to be weighed down by eighteen. He now carried his four best. Slice his Bisharp, Golem his Golett, Zoroark, and Tragg his Gigalith he kept the others in his locker if the need arose for one he didn’t carry, and he had few of those with him at the moment. Bisharp was watching over the still rowdy Gastly. Tragg was with Jess to break up an electric Pokémon fight that had broken out. Zoroark was also away helping Alex who had fewer Pokémon than the others, all he had at the moment was Golem. The park was filled with a group of kids from a nearby school and some teens that were bound to cause trouble. One of the older kids in a group with his friends was throwing trash at one of the nearby Pokémon in a cage that was just sitting staring at the wall. It was the Poochyena/Mightyena pen.
“Hey. Stop throwing trash at the Pokémon.” Patrick called to the thug.
“Oh yeah, and if I don’t what are you going to do?” The thug was about a foot taller than Patrick so he didn’t project the authority of his position.
“I’m going to ask you to leave.”
“Ask? And if I refuse?”
“He will make you.” he said stepping to the side, Golem was standing behind him.
“Really?” he tossed out his Pokémon, it was bad luck that it was a psychic and Golem was part Ghost.
“Well, my Reuniclus says we’re staying.” The crowd that was listening to the confrontation got excited to see a Pokémon battle and formed a ring around the two. The tension was palpable and about to snap. “Ren Psychic!”
“Iron Defense!” Patrick called in counter knowing it would help little. Psychic stuck Golem and he slightly buckled under the force but retained his footing. “Magnitude!” Patrick shouted immediately following the attack. The ground started heaving and one of the waves struck the Reuniclus and bounced him around but leaving him with no serious injuries.
“Psychic again.” This time it brought Golem to his knees.
“Dynamic Punch” being slightly off balance his swing went wide and missed Reuniclus entirely.
“Psychic again.”
“Wish I had Slice right now.” he muttered. Golem knew he was outmatched in this fight but he had to persevere. “Rollout” he said running out of ideas. I can’t win this fight, kept running through his head, there is no way, was there too.
“Dizzy Punch.” It connected and Golem was thrown back barely moving. “And that means I’m not leaving.” He knew if he turned and left even returning with Slice it was defeat in the eyes of the crowd. Golem had risen to his feet. “Really? Ren put him down again, Dizzy Punch.” Reuniclus charged him yet again, seconds before the attack connected Golem raised his arms in a cross in front of his face, causing the attack to glance off. He shimmered and glowed, growing to a massive nine foot tall and expanding outward to fill the now small circle the crowd had formed.
“GOLURK!” he cried his deep and deafeningly loud, the crowd retreated back to give him room. He had the Pokédex out as he grew scanning his moves hoping he knew something to defeat Reuniclus but seeing nothing. Golem taking matters into his own hands and irritated at the assault of the Reuniclus, he launched himself up in the air and came down on the Reuniclus who was scared stiff at the massive size and speed of the giant Pokémon.
“Heavy Slam” the Pokédex rang. “Heavy Slam deals varying damage depending on the weight of both the user and the target. The heavier the user is in comparison to its target, the more damage will be inflicted.” The Pokédex finished.
A shockwave exploded from the ground as he landed. Golem lifted himself off the Reuniclus now laying unconscious in a small crater he had formed under Golem. “Now you can go or he can make you.” The thug hesitated for a second to long. “Golem grab him.”
“Golurk.” Golem grabbed him and started to carry him.
“Hey put him down.” his friends called.
“Grab them too.” Using his other massive hand he grabbed the other four and following Patrick took them to the front gate. “Put them down.” None to gently he flung them towards the ground. “Now leave.” Patrick said tossing his Reuniclus to him. “And don’t come back.” The parade of the unknown Golurk to the front gate spread through the park quickly reaching Jess’s ears first.
“What happened?” she asked a group of people who had seen the fight first hand.
“It was awesome this ranger told this punk to leave and he refused and called his Pokémon, the ranger had his but it was a Golett and type disadvantaged, but then he evolved and grew to nine feet tall and carried the thug to the front and threw him out.” That was the story being told all around and Jess, Alex, and Greg heard “ranger with a Golett” they knew exactly who it was. They remember him catching it and he had been following Patrick around all week. His faithful aid and right hand Pokémon, when Slice was otherwise occupied.
Jess had just taken a group of kids to the theater for the next show and was standing outside wondering what to do when she felt the ground shutter, then again, then again, seconds away from worry she looked up and saw the massive Pokémon, carrying Patrick on his shoulder, walking towards her. “You get tired of walking?” she called up to him.
“Put me down Golem.”
“Golurk.”
“No, I just wanted a bird’s eye view of the park.”
“Not to be mean, but isn’t he a little big to be out?”
“Yes but he just changed so I’m going to let him stay out the rest of the day. I can’t let him out at home now can I?”
“I guess not. Oh here’s Tragg back.” She said handing him the poké ball. “He was super helpful. It’s nearly time to go home isn’t it?” she asked.
“I don’t know lost track of time with all that’s been going on. On the bright side only a few Pokémon in my area are misbehaving.”
“Those damn Pikachu’s are a nuisance. They won’t stop trying to electrocute the people.”
“Golurk could help.”
“Really how?” they went over to the Pikachu pen and were almost immediately attack with a thunderbolt attack, it struck Golurk to no effect.
“Magnitude Golurk.” The Pikachus looked like balls in a washing machine bouncing around hitting each other and things. The magnitude subsided. They attacked again, and again magnitude went off. After the third attack they stopped realizing what would happen. “Every time you attack he does too, so I suggest you stop.”
“PIKA!”
“I’ll take that as a yes. I hope that helps you Jess.”
“The Park will be closing in ten minutes.” A voice over the loud speaker called.
“Good as soon as we get done cleaning up we can leave.” Jess said and proceeded to grab some nearby trash.
The cleaning was finished and they were out the gate on their way home. He stopped at the Pokémon center to see if Rachael was still there, it was a little pasted five but she could be running late. He saw Penelope at the counter.
“Hey Penelope” he called. One of the few guys I know that didn’t call me Pen, I wish I had a guy like that. She thought.
“Hi Patrick.” She called back in her cheery voice.
“You doing good?”
“I’m doing good.” she replied. “How about you?”
“I’m good as well.” He makes small talk, so nice. she thought again.
“So is Rachael here?”
“She’s in the back talking to Lisa I think.” At about that time she came out. “And there she is.”
“Bye Rachael, have a good night.” Said Penelope wishing she was going with him.
“Bye Penelope.” She said back.
“I have a surprise for you.” he told her.
“Where is it?”
“Outside.” They walked out and she looked around.
“Where?” she asked confused.
“Close your eyes.” He silently pulled Golem’s Ball and tossed it.
“Well?” He motioned for Golem to get eye level with her.
“GO.” Golem said inches from her face.
“Go?” she repeated opening her eyes looking into the odd shaped eyes of Golem. It took her a minute to realize what it was she was looking at. “Oh my…” she said taking a step back. “He evolved today.”
“When we get home I’ll tell you all about it. How was your day?”
“It was good I have an assistant now, so a lot less paperwork to do and stress level way down.” They got all the way home when she realized. “What are we doing for dinner?”
“Delivery. I don’t want to go anywhere and we passed all the places that have pickup.” He replied.
“Pizza sounds good to me.” she said.
As they waited for the pizza guy, “Ok tell me what happened.”
“Well as you know I only carry my best four Pokémon with me. Slice was still watching the Gastly, Zoroark was with Alex she has so few she needed backup, and Tragg was with Jess helping with her electric problem. So all I had was Golem. Some guy was throwing trash at a Poochyena, it a dark type, kind of like a dog.” he explained quickly. “I told him if he didn’t stop he would be asked to leave, he got hostile. He called out a Reuniclus, psychic type.
“Bisharp.” he heard from the corner as Slice jerked his head in their direction. He had let Slice out shortly after they got inside, he was sitting in his corner on his pillow and blankets. As the story progressed to the fight he was now quite angry there was a fight he missed.
“Sorry Slice you weren’t there.”
“Sharp sharp Bisharp.” He retorted. Which was something along the lines of well you should have come got me.
“Anyway I knew Golem was disadvantaged but if I would have left I wouldn’t have heard the end of it from those guys and the crowd that had gathered. He took several psychic attacks and a dizzy punch or two. The last Dizzy Punch Golem raised his arms and the attack glanced off. Then he evolved and used Heavy Slam squashed Reuniclus flat, Golem carried him and his friends to the front I carried the Pokémon and we threw them out.”
“Wow so cool.” At that point the pizza guy arrived. They ate in silence just enjoying the others company.
The weeks pasted and they had fallen into a nice routine, till one day they both had several days off at the same time. “You got tomorrow off right?” he asked her while they were eating to be sure.
“Yes I do. Why?” she asked the last part with a questioning curiosity. The only time he asks is when he plans something she thought.
“I got a surprise for you.” He said with a smile.
“What is it?” she asked like a kid on Christmas wanting to open gifts.
“If I told you it wouldn’t be a surprise. You’ll just have to wait till tomorrow.” He responded.
“Darn.” she said with a pout. She shot him a quick glance and she saw he didn’t buy her act.
“Tomorrow.” was all he said. So with her curiosity peaked they watched a movie then went to bed.
He woke her up early. “We need to get going we can’t be late.”
“For what?” she asked.
“Your surprise.” She was up in a flash. They both showered and dressed in record time.
“Let’s go.” she said standing at the door. He just shook his head as they left.
After they had been walking for a while she noticed he was wearing the backpack they had taken to Twist Mountain, and also they were headed to the airport. “Where are we going?”
“Airport.” He responded.
“Why?” she questioned, he said nothing and pulled her along. When they got there he walked up to a guy standing next to a small plane.
“Rachael I want you to meet Alex’s dad, Peter.”
“Hello sir.”
“Call me Peter everyone else does.” he responded. He was a good natured guy with coal black hair wearing a Hawaiian shirt and shorts with a good deal around his midsection. “You’re a little early, Alex isn’t here yet.” Patrick could see Rachael wasn’t liking the facts she was hearing and how she was piecing them together so he had to tell her.
“He’s taking us to Driftveil City. Then we head to Route six to Mistralton Cave.”
“Wh…Really?” her eyes lit up.
“Yeah, I was talking to Alex and she said they were going to visit some relatives for several days, since her dad is a pilot and has his own plane. I realized it was the perfect opportunity to get you your Axew. I asked and she said it would be fine of we tagged along, I talked to Peter yesterday at the park and he said it was fine too, so here we are and when Alex arrives we can go.” Alex walked up a little while later. She was wearing an Indiana Jones style hat the same as what she wore at the park except it was tan. They got on board and were airborne in no time.
“What’s with the clothes Alex?”
“I wasn’t going to stay at my relatives place the entire time, I was going to poké hunt while I was there, I only have two and in desperate need of more.”
“Not many good kinds there, mostly bug and grass and with you covering flying and bug types, not a good combo. You need fire and electric, and maybe a psychic.”
“I got Pignite.” Then fires covered.
“If you stop in the Chargestone Cave you could pick up an electric one quick, it looks like an eel and is quite small. Or a Klink they know electric moves.”
“He really knows his Pokémon doesn’t he?” she said leaning forward to address Rachael who was on Patrick’s opposite side.
“Yeah he does.”
“You are a lucky girl.” She said. Patrick was just glad it wasn’t Jess, if it was, her hands would probably be all over him, several times during the training he had to remind her he was dating someone. He had decided it best not to tell Rachael this. Today Patrick was packing his entire Pokémon group ready for whatever or whoever got in their way. He keeps the balls labeled so he could tell them apart. “I’ll show you the ones you should look far when we get there.” He’d pull out Tynamo, Klink and Joltik just so she's knows about him.
The plane ride didn’t last that long, it was a short hop to Driftveil from Mistralton. “These are the ones you need to look for when you’re in Chargestone.” He said calling out Tynamo, Klink, and Joltik. She studied them so she could remember. “Now this one.” he motioned to Joltik, “Is a bug/electric so he would have a problem with birds, but if he’s quick they aren’t a problem, plus he is small so that helps. Klink here, I call mine Mechanicum, He’s steel, and knows electric moves so he’d be good against the fliers. The best one to get is a Klink or Tynamo.” He finished motioning to the two.
“Thanks I will get started in an hour or two, or as soon as I can get way.” She said giving him a hug and heading off with her father.
“You have really been studying haven’t you?” Rachael asked.
“Since I got the Pokédex I’ve been learning everything in it. Now let’s go see about a boat ride to the cave.”
There was nowhere to rent a boat or to get a ride to the opposite side. “How are we supposed to get to the other side without a boat?” Rachael just looked at him for a minute.
“Really? You are going to ask that question? When you figure it out I’ll be over there waiting. Frillish surf.” She took Frillish’s ‘hand’ put her foot on one of the flippers and it glided across the water creating a slight wake in the water. He couldn’t see much surfing involved.
“Palpitoad Surf” he said grabbing it around the waist realizing he was much bigger than the Pokémon.
(I know surf is an unlearnable move through normal means but it seems simple that they would understand)
“Nice of you to join me” she said suppressing a laugh as he climbed up on the shore soaking wet.
“Like I said we needed a boat.”
“PAL!” Palpitoad gave an irritated vent and swelling up slightly in anger.
“Not your fault Palpitoad, you’re just not big enough to carry me.” It was sunny day but it was also cold with a lite snow on the ground. He debated about staying outside to dry off or to press on, then a cold wind rushed passed him and he decided against it. They headed into the cave. “We need to stop so I can dry off.” He said as they rounded a corner and stepping into complete darkness. He called out Litwick, and had it start a fire. He had packed a small pile of twigs just in case they needed them for an emergency. “I didn’t pack a lot of twigs so hopefully this will do the trick.” He pulled out a bag and handed it to Rachael. “Here I brought lunch. It’s a bit early but we aren’t doing anything else.” They ate a little as they waited for his clothes to dry. The fire died before that happened. “They are still a little damp but I can’t do anything about it.”
“Time to get an Axew.” she said and headed off into the dark.
They had been walking through the twists and turns of the labyrinth like cave seeing nothing and hearing nothing, the little light they had was produced by Litwick’s flame. He saw it before she did, she stepped forward and found nothing he grabbed her around the waist and pulled her back before she fell into the gaping hole in the floor.
“Aw!” she cried out as he pulled her back. “What the hell? Why is there a damn hole in the floor?”
“I don’t know, but there won’t be for long.”
“How are you going to fill it you don’t…”
“GOLURK!”
“Golem find a rock to go in that hole.”
“GOLURK.” He stared at the hole with his odd shaped eyes. Then looked around the area then walked out of the limited sight they had and came back with an immense rock, he shoved it in the hole. It was a square peg round hole problem, but when he got done shoving it in the rock was round.
“Shall we proceed?”
“You first.” She said leery of the ‘patch job’ on the hole. He stepped on it then over with no problem, it was solid. They walked along for a while.
“You know this is crazy, we haven’t found anything, not even a Boldore. Doesn’t that seem odd to you?” Rachael commented.
“There might not be Boldore here. Plus Axew is an elusive Pokémon but this is the only place I know of that might have them.”
“It’s not just that, we haven’t seen anything. This is creepy. When we were in Chargestone I didn’t have this problem and it was just as dark.”
“Are you scared?” he asked a little concerned. She searched his comment for sarcasm or a joke, and when finding none.
“A little bit.” She replied. He called out Slice.
“Slice.” Patrick said. He turned to him.
“Sharp!”
“Nothing touches Rachael. Keep her safe.”
“Bisharp!” He held out his hand to her which she took.
He called out Zoroark, “Scout ahead and see if there is anything nearby.”
“Zor.” He was off like a shadow. I think if there is anything ahead of us it might be running, we are making noise even when trying to be quiet. They stood there waiting for Zoroark’s report. The light of Litwick was dim and it cast a blue hue throughout the cave. Patrick felt a tap on his arm, he turned to look and was face to face with the wolfish face of Zoroark. He recoiled back in surprise. “Zor.” he whispered. Gesturing to the area ahead of them using his fingers to mimic walking and then mimed putting on a helmet. Patrick turned to Rachael and whispered
“He says there are a few ahead of us, they are wearing helmets, I don’t get that part.” She was quite confused as to the report as well. Zoroark gestured to them with the walking sign then to the Pokémon ahead with the walking gesture. “He says they move when we move. How do we get them?” Zoroark just grinned and melted into the shadows again. “I think we should get ready.” Golurk was standing in the back watching the proceeds with a mild interest. “Golem get ready. I want you to stop any wild Pokémon that comes through here.” He nodded. They heard the sound of rumbling coming from ahead of them growing louder. They saw the flash of their dim light flickering off of something coming their way. Golurk idea of stopping was punch it, so as the Pokémon was in sight he threw a punch, it slammed into the Pokémon and to the amazement of all present it stood firm as the punch connected with its head. It was an Aron. It took a punch from Golurk and was still standing. The other Arons rushed passed. Patrick saw the bright blue eyes of the Aron were cold, hard, and flickering with the challenge we was just presented. Golurk was a bit surprised at the resistance of this Pokémon. The wild Aron jumped back and roared.
“AARROONN!”
It had no effect on the larger than life Golurk who towered eight feet taller than the stubby little Aron, it may take his punch but it didn’t scare him. Patrick called out Timburr, it was too hard for Golurk to motion in the cave. The Aron’s eyes stared down the Timburr. “Timburr Rock Throw!” Timburr swung his timber around and using it like a golf club smacked the nearest rock towards Aron. It hit him in the head and bounced off.
“Why did you think that would work?” Rachael commented, he ignored her. Aron retaliated with a Metal Claw attack.
“Wake up slap.” Timburr used his log to slap him with. Still it had little effect. Time for a recalculation of this fight Patrick thought. He pulled the dex it said he was weak to water. Palpitoad. He called him out and Timburr back. “Mud shot” he called. It hit him right in the face covering his eyes. “Muddy Water.” He shot the ground right in front of Aron and the rebound of the water struck him full on, not waiting he threw his poké ball. It shook and shook for the longest time, this Aron was a fighter. Finally after several long minutes it bonged and his Xtransceiver dinged. He transferred it to the box. Out of the shadow from behind the Aron stepped Zoroark. “Great job Zoroark!” he held up his hand for a high five.
“Zor.” he replied pleased he had done well. They sat down to calm down from the rush.
“Zoroark could you do some more scouting?”
“Zor.” he nodded. He held up the Pokédex.
“This is the one we are looking for.”
“Zor.” and he was off.
Rachael pulled out the remainder of the subs Patrick had brought with them. Patrick had recalled all his Pokémon except for Bisharp who was standing guard to Rachael and Litwick who was producing light. “Hey here it is.” he said as he pulled out a flashlight, and clicked it on. “I was looking for this earlier.” They sat for a while again waiting for Zoroark. When they heard an odd sound of a muffled squeal. Then Zoroark came into the bright circle of light holding an Axew. He had obviously found one. He deposited him on the ground. “It’s a Dragon type I would suggest Frillish it’s the closest thing you have to ice, or you can borrow one of mine.”
“Right, no I want to do this on my own.” she replied. He knew water wasn’t particularly effective against dragons but with it being cold that might help. She called for an Ominous Wind. The Axew replied with a Dragon Claw. Rachael called for Brine. As expected it didn’t seem to affect Axew. Axew used Dual Chop blind siding Frillish. She called out Her Drilbur, Digger, “Dig” she called. The ground under Axew heaved and Digger burst through striking Axew with his spinning claws. Axew quickly slashed at him, barely grazing Digger’s chest. “Dig again.” The Axew glanced around waiting for the move to strike. The Axew knew it would come from beneath him, he felt a slight rumble at his feet and quickly dived aside, Digger feeling his contact with the ground from his dive, diverted his path directly at him slamming him again regardless. “Dig!” He turned in midair and spinning like a top hit the ground and burrowed in. The third dig slammed him, and she threw her ball. The Pokémon forfeiting was caught quickly. Patrick turned to Zoroark.
“Great job, can you explain this?” Zoroark went into a mime show and at one point morphed into and unknown yellowish-green nearly six foot Pokémon, with red scythes coming out on either side of his head. Rachael was watching this. When Zoroark finished he turned to her.
“Ok he said…”
“I think I got it.” she said. “He saw them upstairs, and after realizing the leader morphed into him and lured this one away.”
“Let’s go before they come looking for him. Great Job Zoroark you’ve done well today.”
“Zoroark.” He replied.
They stood on the bank of the river. She had called out Audino to heal all the Pokémon that fought with its Heal Pulse; it was a bandage not a long term treatment. They were about to go back across when an Alonomola appears on the surface. Her Axew being the one that would be best against water she charged him to Dragon Claw it. Unfortunately the temperature was considerably lower outside and the water had ice chunks floating in it so the retaliatory Water Pulse was move like Ice Pulse and Axew recoiled in great pain. Patrick called out his Tynamo.
“Spark.” It struck the fish Pokémon and it floated to the top momentarily stunned. He looked at her. “Throw a ball.”
“But you…”she started; he cut her off with a throwing motion knowing they had little time. She threw; the stunned Pokémon couldn’t fight back and was hers in no time and transferred it to her account that she hadn’t used until now. “This should be yours.” she said.
“I didn’t want it you did, I just assisted you.”
“Thank you.” she said giving him a kiss.
They both used Frillish to cross this time; it was a lot dryer that way and wet clothes in cold weather sucked. They headed back down route six to the city, it had been a long day. It was about five and they were dead. It was an adrenaline filled day and they thought they couldn’t take anymore. It was out of the corner of his eye, he saw it several times now and no longer able to dismiss it as nothing, he stopped and looked towards the mountain. It was the one Chargestone was in. “Do you see that over there?”
“What?”
“Something orange keeps bobbing into view every few seconds, there it is again.” he said as it flashed briefly over the tall grass. “Yeah I saw it.” Not being able to stop himself he started towards it. Closer and closer, they could hear it muttering sounding anxious or scared.
“Pig, pig, pig.” It was a Pignite he realized, a wild one, that was exceedingly rare. This was a once in a life time chance, he had to take it. He stepped out of the grass but before he could call a Pokémon he saw a figure laying prone face down wearing a familiar tan outfit and Indiana Jones hat.
“Alex!” he cried rushing forward. She didn’t respond.
“PIG!” Pignite cried gesturing to Alex as he recognized Patrick. He rolled her onto her back, she groaned at the movement.
“Alex wake up.” he said gently shaking her.
“What?” she said coming to. “What happened? I…Scrafty!” she cried out.
“I…don’t see her.” Patrick said looking around.
“She fell.” She said her voice failing.
“Fell? Where? How?”
“Cave…” was all she got out. They sat down and built a small fire. After several minutes and a hot drink she told them what happened. “I was just starting to explore the caves looking for the two Pokémon you recommended. I saw Joltik first it was on a wall I used Pignite to attack it. It ran away. I came across several Boldore but dodged them, they travel in packs. Anyway I saw a Klink after traveling for a while. I used Scrafty, I told her to use Hi Jump Kick but the Klink dodged and we were close to that bridge inside, she went over the edge of the cliff.” She said breaking into tears again. A look of horror was on Rachael’s face as she told the story. Patrick was shocked as well. “I ran to get help but as soon as I got out here I collapsed.”
“It was probably shock. How about we go back in with you and help you look for her?”
“We will never find her.” she cried tears flowing fast and free.
“No, we will find her, I promise, I won’t leave until we do.”
“Thank you.” She said through the tears giving him a hug and a kiss on the check, he held her until she stopped crying again. They packed up their things and headed into the caves.
It was just as he remembered although he came in the other side it was the same buzzing atmosphere, electricity seemed to hang in the air. She led the way she had taken the first time. It was a wide open path. As they neared the bridge she mentioned they saw the edge had dropped away into nothing but gaping blackness. Patrick had called out Zoroark as they had entered as to forewarn them if any Boldore where in the area. He seemed to be able to see in complete darkness. “Here is where it happened.” She said gesturing to the edge. Patrick and Rachael both looked over the edge into the darkness, they could see nothing.
“It looks to be a long way down.” Rachael said softly so Alex wouldn’t hear her.
“Yeah it does.”
“It’s hopeless I know.” Alex said from behind them.
“I’ll never see her again.” she said bursting into tears again. Zoroark was listening he had heard something out of place. His ears twitched again. There it was but the sobbing was really noisy.
“Zor.” he said swinging his claw in a shut up gesture to Alex. Patrick looked back at the sound and saw he was concentrating. Rachael went to comfort Alex so she would be quiet. His ears twitched. He ran to the edge and looked over. He then fell over.
“Zoroark!” Patrick cried out.
“He fell over!” Rachael said in surprise.
“No, he jumped.” Patrick told her. What they hadn’t seen in the dim lighting as it was so fast and unexpected was that he had left his claw on the ground and used it to slide down the wall. “Maybe he went down to see if he was down there?” Patrick said but the sound of uncertainty was clearly in his statement.
“We need to find a way down. That would be the best course of action. I’m guessing across the bridge is the way to go.” Before they could head across the bridge Zoroark’s claw came up and grabbed the cliff edge, quickly Patrick was over there helping him up. As he pulled him up he saw Scrafty was clinging to his back.
“He’s got Scrafty!” Alex rushed over to grab her Scrafty.
“Scrafty are you ok?”
“Scraf…” she managed, she was completely worn-out. Rachael set down her bag and called out Audino. She used Heal Pulse which helped. They sat around the flashlight, Alex was exhausted from the fear and devastation she had experienced. They had a little to eat, they shared what they had with Alex but she ate very little. Zoroark was sitting next to Scrafty having a conversation.
“Well let’s get out of this cave and head back to the city, it’s getting late.” Patrick said.
“We have to find a hotel.”
“I’m sorry we don’t have room for you at the house.”
“That’s alright, we will be fine in a hotel.” They got back outside and it was a little passed twilight and getting darker.
“We need to hurry.”
They arrived in the Driftveil City later than planned but at least they were there. They headed to the Poké center. He, Rachael and Alex gave them their Pokémon. Patrick, and Rachael went to the PC to get his Aron and released him from his ball and her Alomomola.
“I can’t believe he took a shot from my Golem without flinching a little, he’s powerful.”
“He did?” Alex said, she had seen his Golurk and this little thing took a shot from him.
“Size isn’t a determining factor in power; you never know how strong a Pokémon could be.” Rachael told him.
“So are you going hunting tomorrow?” Patrick asked as they left the center.
“I better not take any chances.”
“Well we got what we came for so if you want we can come with you tomorrow.” He said.
“Really, that would be great.”
“Where can I meet you?”
“We will wait for you inside here so when you’re ready swing by.”
“Ok I’ll see you tomorrow.” Heading to the nearest hotel they got a room and after dropping their things they both collapsed on the bed. Patrick called the kitchen thankfully it wasn’t closed yet and ordered a lite dinner as they weren’t that hungry. He laid back down and Rachael rolled over throwing her arm over him.
“This is nice.” she said.
“You’re going to have to move when the food gets here.”
“But until then this is nice.” She moved up slightly and kissed him, it was long and slow. All too soon the food arrived.
As they were eating Rachael said. “You know, I wonder how Scrafty survived that fall.”
“I don’t know, but I saw Zoroark talking to her in the cave so maybe she told him, I’ll ask him tomorrow, or Alex, she's sure to ask her.”
“Call out your Axew let’s look at him.” She called him out.
“I’m going to call him Fangs.”
“They aren’t really fangs.”
“Really you are going to critic me?”
“What?”
“Some of your names are just weird.” She commented. He looked him over he was about two feet tall and a dull green color. He had a fin on top of his head and a short stubby tail, plus his eyes were red. He called out his Aron. It was about half the size of Axew and covered in armor. He was quite plain, four short legs and a spike on his back the rest was covered. He pulled the Pokédex and pointed at Aron.
“Aron the Iron Armor Pokémon. This Pokémon has a body of steel. To sustain itself it feeds on iron ore dug from mountains. They occasionally cause problems by eating bridges and rails.”
“I wonder how to feed it? I wonder what to feed it?” “Soldier.” He said out of the blue, Rachael just rolled her eyes, as she petted her Axew.
“Well I’m beat I’m going to sleep, well after I take a shower.” She pulled her clothes from her bag and headed into the bathroom. After a few minutes Patrick stripped and followed her. He stepped in behind her and grabbed her around the waist pulling her back to him.
“Oh yeah” she said breathlessly. He bent her over and after a little fingering to get her ready impaled her as she braced herself against the wall with her hands. He pistoned in and out quickly slamming into her again and again, her breasts slapping back and forth against her chest. Soon she was crying out in pleasure, “I’m coming!” she cried and as a violent tremor ran through her body he released into her. They washed each other off and got out. She crawled into bed and waited for him to join her.
Patrick was sitting in the Pokémon center the next morning waiting with Zoroark beside him. Alex arrived and was surprised to see he was there alone. “Is Rachael not joining us?” she asked a little hopeful that she wouldn’t be there.
“No she's getting something for lunch, she went looking for someplace that looked familiar.”
“Oh ok.” She said slightly crestfallen.
“And there she is.” he spotted her coming down the street with a large bag in her hand.
“Here.” she said handing him the bag, they divided it up between their backpacks, and headed down Route six to the Chargestone Cave.
They arrived outside the caves. “Oh I wanted to ask, how did your Scrafty save herself from that fall yesterday?” Rachael said.
“I don’t know.”
“Zoroark told me what happened while you were away getting the food.” Patrick interjected. “She knows a move called Rock Climb and when she fell over the edge she was close enough that she could grab the wall. She slide most of the way to the bottom, and when she finally stopped she started climbing back up. It was quite a long climb and as you saw Zoroark had to help her at the end.”
“Luckily she didn’t get back to the top when you were gone or who knows what she would have thought.” Rachael added. I feared look passed on Alex’s face.
“What if she thought I’d left her behind?” Even though she did Patrick thought it best not to point this out.
“Lucky she didn’t, let’s go.” Patrick called out his Gigalith as they entered the caves, Rachael called out her Drilbur, and Alex called out her Scrafty. “Looks like we are ready.” They moved through the caves quietly, looking intently for an electric Pokémon.
“Is that one?” Alex hissed as she saw something dart around the corner ahead.
“I didn’t see it.” he responded. She advanced ahead of them trying to catch another glimpse.
“Ahh!” she cried out. They hurried up to her, and saw a Klang floating just around the corner. “Scrafty, High Jump Kick” she said seeing the background was a rock wall. She glanced at her a split second remembering, then nodded.
“Scraf.” Klang was swift, it positioned itself so that the kick connected at the point of the joining of its gears. Scrafty’s kick connected and her foot was caught between the two gears trapping her there.
“Scrafty!” Alex called out. Hanging there all her attacks were useless, she couldn’t reach Klang with any of her moves. The Klang pushed its advantage using gear grind, following up with a discharge. A huge rock connected to the back of Klang jarring its gears dropping Scrafty. “What happened?” Alex asked. Patrick motioned to Gigalith.
“He used rock throw on Klang. Looks like Scrafty is out of commission. Use Pignite, fire beats steel.”
“Pignite Heat Crash.” He connected with the Klang sending him reeling back.
“Klang.” it rang off in its metallic voice.
“Flame Charge!” He followed up with it immediately sending Klang against the wall. She tossed her poké ball it connected but it was popping out almost immediately. “Flame Charge again!” He knocked the Klang into the wall again. She tossed her poké ball again but it bust out immediately. “Damn why won’t it stay put?” The Klang rang off its name again then started to glow. He developed a spiked ring around his base and an additional gear sporting a red gem in the center floating horizontal in the ring.
“Oh damn it.” Patrick said remembering what Professor Cedric said about his Klinklang and its ability to power the entire city on its own.
“KLINKLANG!” it rang out in its metallic voice. Right now he was wishing his Mienfoo was trained more. He called out his Timburr, and told Rachael to bring her Drilbur over too.
“We need to take him down quick or things will get very bad very quick.” He told them both. “Hit him with your strongest move.” Rachael called for Dig, Pignite continued Flame Charge and Timburr used Wake-Up Slap. All hitting him at the same time. It slumped to the ground, Alex once again threw her poké ball, this time it stayed longer but still it sprung free. They continued the assault not giving it a chance to recover and retaliate. It fell once again under the constant onslaught she was frustrated at this point. She threw it once more.
“Finally!” she cried as it stopped shaking and the light went out. “Scrafty would have been useful there at the end, too bad she was injured.” Patrick told her.
“Yeah it sucks.”
Rachael hurried over to Scrafty now the fight was over. She examined the foot. “It’s not broken but she needs to rest it for a day or two.” She called out her Audino and used Heal Pulse on all the Pokémon.
“Well I say we call it a day” Alex suggested. “I know it’s still early but without Scrafty I don’t know what to do.”
“Let’s set up here and have lunch. Maybe you will feel better after some food.” Patrick suggested. He pulled out several flashlights and set them around them to light the area. “I got them at the center this morning, thought they would be useful.” He called out Mienfoo and Aron now known as Soldier and told them to play nice. He would have to mock battle them when he got home, Mienfoo was painfully low in level. “You have a Pignite and Klinklang now you don’t need to rely on Scrafty all the time. And from what I saw Pignite is fairly powerful.”
“I know, and I know I’ve had Pignite longer but ever since I caught Scrafty she’s been the one I count on. She was so much stronger than Pignite she was the logical choice.”
“But doesn’t the fact that she was beaten by a weaker Pokémon say something about your Pignite? He beat Scrafty who you said was stronger. I figured you’d go with him seeing as how he was good enough to defeat a superior foe.”
“It does make sense when you put it like that.”
They finished eating lunch and packed it away. “So you want to stop and go home or look for some more? You really need something strong against fighting types.”
“It’s winter, there aren’t too many Flying types out and about are there?”
“No. I’d say asked Jess if you can use her Braviary or Sigilyph until spring gets here, or you can use my Rufflet.”
“Ok Thanks. Well I know it’s not one I can use but I want a Deerling. They’re so cute!”
“Oh you love the evolved form don’t you?” Rachael teased Patrick.
“Sounds like a story.” Alex said.
“I’ll tell you later.”
They walked route six looking for a Deerling, there were many signs but no sightings. Rachael saw a small entrance in the trees. “What about in here? It’s small not many things can get in, maybe it thought it was a good hiding spot.
“Alex lead the way, so if there is one you can get to it quick.” She called out Pignite and pushed her way in. It opened up to a small clearing, as she moved into the concealed groove she noticed a temperature drop. She quickly scanned the area looking for a Deerling.
“Dang, I don’t see one.” They starting backing out and as she turned to leave she saw one lightly dash out of the tree line completely oblivious to her presence. So she didn’t startle it and scare it off she didn’t say anything to Patrick or Rachael. She just whispered to Pignite “Heat Crash.” He charged out of the trees and collided with the Deerling causing it to roll the remainder of the clearing and into a tree. “Arm Thurst!” She cried out not bothering to be quiet now. Further down the path Rachael turned around and looked at Patrick he was just as surprised as she was, they doubled back. They got there just in time to see her poké ball go still. “I got him!” She said turning and giving Patrick a hug while holding out her hand for a high five from Rachael.
They headed back to the city. “You guys have plans for dinner?”
“Not really.” Patrick replied looking at Rachael just to make sure, she was shaking her head.
“There is a nice place we always go to. I was thinking we could go there.”
“What about your relatives?”
“They won’t mind if I miss tonight, they are boring to be honest. Soooo boring! My dad can think up a good excuse if it’s just this once. Besides they got the rest of the week to behold my presence.” She said finishing her line of excuses.
“Sure we can go change and meet you there. Where is it?” she gave them directions and headed to her relatives house to changed and tell her dad what she was doing so he could cover for her.
They arrived before she did so they took a seat in the waiting area, waiting. “I hope we are at the right one.” Rachael commented.
“It’s the only restaurant on this block kind of hard to miss it.” he replied. “She shouldn’t be too much longer; if she doesn’t come soon we are in the wrong place.” He added. Soon after she stepped inside and joined them.
“Sorry got held up. Had to get my story straight. We are going with I ran into some friends and was going to show them around the city since I know it soo well. We are leaving out the part that we brought you with us.” They got a table and ordered drinks. “Ok so I have to hear this story of the Deerling?”
“It was a Sawsbuck actually.”
“Not even that the first time.” Patrick corrected her. Alex was confused by the byplay between them.
“What are you talking about?” He gave her the short version of the first encounter which was actually his then Zorua now Zoroark. She laughed thinking it was hilarious. Then he got to the actual encounter the training the running the climbing a tree in fright, and finally Pawniard’s lucky shot that made it run. “Wow quite a story.” Alex said.
“Yep another nurse at the center caught him.” Rachael interjected. “In fact you’ve meet her, Greg’s girlfriend?”
“Oh yeah I remember.” Alex replied. “Tall, long blonde hair…like me.”
“Yeah, Lisa.” Rachael said. “It was the same time she caught her Vanillite Snow White.” The talk continued on about Pokémon, until the food arrived, and then changed to everyday stuff. They spent an hour or two there. They had the full dining experience appetizers, entrée, and dessert. “We spoil ourselves.” Rachael commented when they were done.
“I think we are entitled, we worked hard today.” Alex put in.
“True.” They got up and said their goodbyes and headed to their hotel for the night.
The next few days past in a blur, they hit a lot of stores, Rachael wanted to do some shopping, they went to several movies spending all day there one day. On the fifth day Patrick got a call from Peter telling him to be ready to go in the morning, he said they would and hung up. “So today’s our last day what do we do?” He asked her.
“I picked the last two days you pick.” she said.
“Actually the movies was my idea.”
“But we watched more of the ones I wanted.”
“There was nothing else playing that was any good.”
“So pick something or we are going to spend the whole day arguing about what to do.” she replied.
“How about we head to the park.”
“It’s cold” she interjected.
“Pokémon battles will keep us warm.” He said.
“I need to train Mienfoo and Soldier.” She rolled her eyes at the name again. He didn’t see her. “I was thinking of having a couple of mock battles between those two in the park, and if someone challenges me they are in for a shock.”
“Ok sounds like fun I’ll just dress warm…I’ll wear that new coat I got two days ago!” She had bought a new coat the day after the adventures with Alex and was dying to wear it out in public not to a movie theater were no one could see it.
They arrived in the park a short time later. It was fairly empty with a few hardcore trainers drilling their Pokémon on their moves and others doing what he was planning to do. He picked a spot not too far away from them to discourage approach but not to close as to openly invite them over. He called out both his Mienfoo and Aron and set them to throwing attacks at one another. He was treating real light nothing too hard that they would get hurt, when he saw one of the others approach him he nudged Rachael. “I see him.” She replied quietly. He stopped a little away from them and watched for a while.
Finally, “I don’t mean to criticize but that’s not really helping either one of them other than tiring them out.” he commented. The guy looked like he was a normal person, he wasn’t wearing weird clothes like most other trainers he’d seen today, wasn’t wearing a tank top in the thirty degree cold and was old enough to look like he had some idea as to what he was saying.
“What do you mean?”
“Well with the moves and no real purpose behind them, they aren’t really learning how to fight, it’s more like play and that isn’t how to train Pokémon, of course if your Pokémon are just playing I apologize.”
“Well I’m not sure of the Aron’s skill and the Mienfoo hatched recently and I haven’t had a chance to train him at all. So I was giving them a workout so to speak.”
“Well if you want I could take one and we could really battle them, all mine are fairly strong and might be too much for them to handle.”
“Get your Audino ready I don’t think this is going to last long.” He said to Rachael. “Alright, you use the Aron and I’ll use the Mienfoo.”
“By the way my name is Bill, I’m from the Kanto region.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Patrick I live in Mistralton City, I’m here on vacation.” Patrick pulled out his Pokédex and looked over moves that Mienfoo could learn he probably didn’t know any good ones except Vital Throw. The fight was on. Bill went first.
“Let’s start with a headbutt attack.” The Aron charged down Mienfoo. Mienfoo not fully understanding battles yet didn’t move and was slammed into. He got up quick but was dazed. Bill waited for him to attack, nothing would be accomplished by knocking him out in two hits.
“Mienfoo Doubleslap.” He just looked back and him and shrugged. “Ok, Pound?”
“Mien.” It ran across the field and slapped the Aron who basically felt nothing.
“Roar Aron.”
“AAARRRROOOOONNNNNN!” Mienfoo ran and cowered behind Patrick’s legs.
“Get back out there Mienfoo. Pound again.” He had to push him forward but he attacked Aron after that, again not really hurting him.
“Mud-slap Aron.” It was a more of dirt slap as the ground was frozen. It pegged Mienfoo in the face knocking him on his ass. He hopped up and awaited orders.
“Pound.” It was all he knew beside Vital Throw. He slapped Aron again.
“Do you know Iron Head Aron?” Bill asked.
“Aron” he replied shaking his head.
“Iron Defense then.”
“Pound him again.” Again he delivered the pound with little to no effect.
“Headbutt and that should end it.” he charged across the ring and slammed into Mienfoo again. “Looks like it’s over.” Bill called after a minute and Mienfoo didn’t rise. “Even though he didn’t win he still got valuable experience.”
“You said you have Pokémon?”
“Yes.”
“Do you want a real battle?”
“I don’t fight them, I study them. Now I really must be going, good-bye.” He walked off in the opposite direction. Rachael had Audino treat Mienfoo.
“Doesn’t look like Soldier needs any treatment, he didn’t get hurt.” She said glancing at the Pokémon. “It really is cold out here.” he said after several more minutes.
“I figured more people would be out here, guess I was wrong. I guess this was a bad idea. Let’s go someplace warm.” He started packing up their things, seconds before he recalled his Pokémon he saw him, he was striding straight towards them with definite intent in his eyes. He looked thug, he had the long Mohawk, but it wasn’t up it was laying over to one side, and he had the leather jacket it was partly open and he could make out “FUL DEA”, probably a band, plus the jeans and chains.
“Hey Your Pokémon look weak, bet he can’t beat mine.”
“I know he can’t, want to battle?” Patrick replied quickly with an evil glint in his eye. The thug was a little taken aback; if he couldn’t win why fight?
“Alright.” He replied he was always up for beating down trainers and he had the perfect one for this one. They took their places on either side of the field.
“Alakazam go!” the thug called.
“Ala-kazam!” he popped out and twisted his spoons like wet noodles. He had planned to show power with Golurk but that was a bad move against him.
“Slice.” He called and Bisharp stepped around the side of the tree he had been resting against. “Pregame.” Slice’s eyes flashed as he sharpened his wrist blades on his mid blades, and then a few on his head blade.
“I thought you’d use that one!” he accused pointing at the Mienfoo.
“I never said that.” he replied with that smile again. Slice stepped up to his position. Rachael took place as the judge.
“Probably going to cheat.” she heard the thug mutter, but choose not to reply.
“Ready? GO!” she cried out. Bisharp just stood there waiting knowing he wouldn’t be left on his own abilities. He fully trusted Patrick.
“Alakazam Future Sight.” He crossed his spoons and chanted, then ceased. Slightly confused Patrick looked around.
“Bisharp Night Slash.” Quick as lightning he was across the field, he swung and hit air. Alakazam appeared behind him
“Disable.” His spoons crossed and a wave was emitted from them striking Slice.
“Night Slash.” By pure luck disable had made Slice temporality forget that move. He cocked his head and quickly glanced at Patrick with confusion. “Iron Head.” he knew that one. He swung his head at Alakazam and again hit nothing but air. Patrick was confused at Alakazam’s disappearing act as well. He called again for Iron Head and listened closely. He heard it called quietly but not quietly enough, it had to be heard by Alakazam, the trainer muttered Teleport and again it was right behind Slice, a plan formed, it was a trained move he called for teleport and he always appeared behind the opponent. “Iron Head behind you.” Slice spun and right before the move started he shouted “Metal Claw behind you.” At the same time the thug called for Teleport. The Metal Claw was drug across Alakazam’s face causing him to stumble back and wail in pain. He was collected himself quickly. “You got Night Slash back yet?”
“Sharp.” He replied with a nod.
“Iron Head.”
“Miracle Eye.” he heard called to Alakazam. Alakazam crossed his spoons and above them an eye appeared. Slice connected with Alakazam, but the damage was done, he was no longer immune to Psychic moves. Then out of nowhere Slice was slammed by an invisible force laying him out flat. Alakazam was rising back up. Slice leapt up but was slightly sluggish from the sneak attack. “Psychic.” Slice dove to the side to avoid it.
“Metal Claw.” He charged.
“Teleport”
“Night Slash rear attack.” His blades glowed a deep purple and he spun and connected the attack square into Alakazam’s chest. He stumbled and dropped to his knees.
“Recover.” He slightly glowed and stood back up.
“Night Slash quickly.” he called as Alakazam started to rise. No quick enough to call Teleport, Alakazam was struck again. He dropped to the ground again.
“Recover, Recover. Get up!” He cried fruitlessly, getting no response.
“Winner.” Rachael called after Alakazam failed to rise to the call. The thug recalled his Pokémon and stalked away.
After he was out of earshot he said “I’m not battling Psychic types anymore, they are a pain in the ass.” He pulled out his Pokédex and scrolled through until he found him.
“Alakazam. The Psi Pokémon. The evolved form of Kadabra. With a brain similar to a super computer it has a wide array of supernatural powers. Miracle Eye this move removes dark immunity to psychic moves.” A shock look passed over Patrick’s face. If the tables hadn’t changed so quickly he would have been in trouble.
“Well that was certainly a warm up.” he said putting what could have been out of his mind.
“Says you, I’m freezing over here, you said we were leaving.”
He just smiled and replied, “We are let’s go.”
Back in their hotel room, they sat there flipping channels on the TV. “Nothing’s on, well nothing good anyway.” She commented. “I’m bored.”
“Well what do you want to do?”
“I want to go home, this was fun but I want to be comfortable at home.”
“Well we leave in the morning.” Despite the morning activity it was only around lunch time they called room service for a couple burgers and decided to wait until after they eat to pick how they should fill the remainder of the day.
After lunch it was still undecided. Nothing sounded good that they hadn’t already done. Shopping, movies, battles. The gym. The idea struck him out of nowhere. “I should challenge the gym.”
She slowly turned her head “Are out of your damn mind? They are Gym Leaders for a reason. They aren’t punks in the park they are the best. No offence but he will crush you.”
“And if he doesn’t?” She just shook her head.
“What do you want a Gym badge for anyway?”
“I don’t know, but it’s something to do unless you want to sit around the room for the next eight plus hours.”
“Fine, you want to get beat down, let’s go.”
They arrived at the gym shortly afterward. “You decide which one you are going to use?” she asked.
“I was thinking Palpitoad, Snowcone, and Yeti. I was wondering if I should use Cryo instead, but I’m not sure.”
Rachael stepped over the desk and returned saying “Only three Pokémon are allowed. If I were you I wouldn’t use Cryo. You have never used him before and don’t know his behavior. Stick with the ones you know.” Finally decided he picked their balls from his bag and was lead to an elevator at the end of the hall. It descended for quite a while till it came to a stop revealing a cut stone passage, at the end was a stone door, they opened it and saw a large room with bright lights everywhere to illuminate it, it was several stories tall and the arena was dead center.
Clay was standing off to the side relaxing talking to a guy Patrick guess was a ref when they entered. “Well, got some challengers do I?” he had a slight southern drawl.
“Yes.”
“Take yer place.” He said gesturing to the end of the field. “Al’right this is a one on one set of three gym battle. Get yer first one out.” Patrick called out his Palpitoad, Clay called out his Krokorok.
“Ready?” they heard from the side, it was the ref. They both gave a nod. “Fight!”
“Bulldoze.” Clay called to the Krokorok, seconds later it was charging across the field knocking aside small rock formations as it went. It moved so fast Patrick barely had time to call for Palpitoad to dodge it, which he just managed to do.
“Muddy Water!” he called hoping to get Krokorok before he could fully block it. It smacked Krok full in the face blinding him temporality.
“Crunch.” Clay called. Krok leapt towards toad with surprising speed but the mud on his face made him miss his mark and his powerful jaws closed on air inches from toad.
“Muddy Water again.” Hitting Krok in the back with the attack he stumbled forward, but recovered. He spun to face toad, his eyes finally clear of the mud.
“Crunch.” Patrick was amazed at how calm he called the moves, despite to fact he looked to be losing. The Crunch move locked around toad’s midsection. Krok swung him back and forth before releasing him, he sailed into a large rock formation ringing the field. Get up Patrick was thinking. He finally stumbled to his feet. “Bulldoze.” Krok charged again.
Seconds before he hit Patrick cried out “Dodge left!” The Krok slammed head on into the rock formation severing it but also knocking himself out cold. He rebounded off and his back hit the ground laying unmoving.
Finally the ref called it “Win to Palpitoad.”
“Interestin’ strategy kid.” He said recalling Krok. Next came Excadrill.
“DRILL!” Despite its deep cry it was small in size, smaller in fact than Palpitoad if only slightly. Rachael was watching the whole thing and when she saw the Excadrill she got a bad feeling it wasn’t going to end well. Small in size yes but she’d seen great power from the littlest Pokémon, as well as great determination as well. The smaller the fiercer.
“Round two, Ready?” They both nodded. “Fight!”
“Dig.”
“Muddy Water!” seconds behind Clay’s call the water missed as Excadrill bored into the ground. The ground under toad trembled and finally erupted in a shower of rocks and dirt.
While toad was still air borne Clay called “Slash.” Excadrill’s claws flashed across toad’s back and front as he tumbled through the air. He hit the ground like a sack of potatoes and lay there.
“Winner Excadrill!” the ref called after a time. He was weakened anyway Patrick thought. He called out Yeti. As he did he saw a look of interest pass Clay’s face, until Yeti was fully out. He kind of chuckled.
“Not yet it seems.”
“Ready?” They gave their nod.
“Fight!”
“Brine attack!” He called first. The water attack slammed into Excadrill pushing him back slightly.
“Shake it off.” Clay said. “Mud-slap.” He scooped up an area of wet dirt caused by the Brine attack and hurled it across the field. It smacked Yeti in the face. He rubbed the mud out of his eyes and right in front of him was Excadrill ready to slash him. An x formation was slashed right across his chest, causing him to grab himself and curl into a ball in pain.
“Get up!” he called. With a great effort Yeti pulled himself to his feet. “Brine attack!”
“Rapid Spin.” The water broke around Excadrill leaving him no worse for wear.
“Slash him!”
“Dig.” Excadrill burrowed under.
“Fill that hole with water!” Clay chuckled at this call. Excadrill burst from the ground throwing Yeti high in the air, water followed Excadrill causing the gym to rain. Yeti hit the ground and didn’t move.
“Winner Excadrill.” The ref called. Last one. Patrick thought.
“Snowcone.”
“Snowcone?” Clay repeated. Out popped Vanillish.
“Ready?” Both nodded. “Fight.”
“Dig slash combo.”
“Ice Beam!” But it was too late he was already underground. The ground under Snowcone trembled and Excadrill burst forth spinning and slashing striking Snowcone several times. “Ice Beam!” this time it struck Excadrill but he seemed unfazed by it.
“Earthquake Rock Slide.” Excadrill raised his claws and Patrick got a bad feeling. The entire ground started to quiver and heave, followed by the large rocks surrounding the ring rolling towards Vanillish.
“Move” he called but there was nowhere to go. They all crashed together. The quake stopped and the rocks fell away. Vanillish was out cold.
“Winner Excadrill. Match to Clay.” The ref called.
“Good match boy, but cha need ta train more.”
“Thanks for the match.” Patrick said and headed out. “I got whipped.” He said to Rachael as they got outside.
“He is a gym leader; did you think it would be easy?”
“No but I thought I’d do better than I did.”
“Let’s go find something to do.” She said as they headed down the sidewalk. “Where to now?” she asked.
“Pokécenter, They need some treatment. I should have used Golem. He could have taken the Excadrill.” She just looked at him with a slight smile; he had that obsessed look again.
They arrived at the Pokémon center shortly after that, it looked exactly the same as the one in Mistralton, but different, it was funny to walk in and not be greeted by two or three girls he knew personally, the staff greeted him but not in the same manner. He handed over his team and took a seat in the waiting area. “It feels funny doesn’t it?” he asked.
“What?”
“Well we are here but it’s different.”
“I know, I keep expecting Lisa or Penelope to walk out the door and come greet us. Plus I know I can’t walk back there.”
“You probably could.”
“Maybe if I tell them I’m a nurse but they wouldn’t like it, not that I want to but it’s the fact that I know I could if we were at home.” After a short time he was called to the desk to pick up his Pokémon. He thanked them and they left. “Ok now what are we going to do?” she asked.
“Park?”
“We’ve already been there.” She said with a cold look that chilled him more than the weather.
“That was early, there are bound to be more there now.” He said trying to play it off casually.
“Fine.” she said finally relenting. “But if you don’t find something quick I’m leaving with or without you.”
“Ok.” he said. They got there and to her surprise there were several more people there. A few were battling, others training, and still others just sitting there relaxing with their Pokémon. “Wow didn’t expect that many to be here.” She commented. “But I stand by my words, quick or I leave without you.” He just smiled and slightly shook his head.
He was being watched. The guy had seen him walk up and like many others though he was soft, an easy mark. The guy casually got up and seemed to drift in Patrick’s direction without looking like he was trying to. He was thinking how he could start a battle without flat out asking and looking too eager. Then he had it, as he got close he stumbled and fell dropping his poké ball. Patrick quickly moved over and helped him up, then picked it up and handed it back to him.
“Thanks.”
“What kind of Pokémon you got?” Patrick inquired.
“Nothing impressive. Want to battle?” he asked trying to sound as if he wasn’t sure.
“Ok, if you want to.” Patrick replied. The guy backed up and tossed the ball, as it struck the ground the snow that had accumulated there turned to water puddle and then evaporated as the melted area grew wider. It was then that Patrick realized what had happened. It didn’t stand very tall only five foot plus but it was intimidating. It raised it’s head and released a deafening roar.
“CHARRRRR!” The park grew quiet all the ambient background noise died as if someone turned it off. Patrick was frozen for a minute, then doing to only thing he could do he called out Palpitoad.
Rachael moved to act as ref but the guy with all his confidence, having no need to act weak anymore, said, “Not the girlfriend, I want it fair.” He gestured to a guy that had been playing fetch with his Herdier. “You, ref this match.” The guy moved over to the center.
“You both ready?” he asked.
“Yes.”
“Yeah.” Patrick called.
“Go.”
“Charizard, Flare Blitz.”
“Aqua Ring.” he called. The water dulled the attack but the force was more than the ring could withstand. Palpitoad collapsed, but then slowly pushed itself up. “Rain dance.” The sky overhead darkened and it started to rain, but the sub temperature turn it to slush. Patrick hoped it would have the same effect. The guy just laughed. “Muddy water.” Patrick said taking advantage of his inattention to the fight. The muddy water hit the Charizard. The problem was it seemed to enrage him and not injure. He wiped the mud from his eyes and the guy called Flamethrower, he was only too happy to obey. “Muddy water!” the moves collided in the middle of the ring. Steam filled the area no one was sure what was happening. There was a cry of pain and as the steam dissipated Palpitoad was laying on the ground, scorch marks all over him.
“Pal” he cried. He rose to his feet.
“Doesn’t know when to give up does he? Knock him around a little bit Char.” He took flight. And dive bombed Palpitoad, not attacking but just knocking him around. Patrick raised the poké ball to recall him.
“Return.” Palpitoad dodged to beam. He was judging the Charizard. When he was just about to strike Palpitoad shot him with muddy water, Charizard slammed into the ground, but it didn’t seem to faze him much. He was up almost immediately, and after a shake of his head he was fine.
“I see your Palpitoad needs another lesson. Charizard Flare Blitz.” The move was extremely powerful. It struck Palpitoad. After it was over, he still rose. He glowed with an eerie light. His arms grew out ward as did his body. He nearly doubled in size when the light died.
“Seismitoad!” he cried in his deep throaty croak.
“End this, Inferno.” The Charizard released another massive fire attack, Seismitoad again tried to block it with Muddy water but it was ineffective and he went down for the final time. Patrick had a plan.
“Joltik go.” Not being a native to the region he didn’t know every Pokémon, only the ones he considered strong.
“Joltik, what’s that?”
“You’ll see or maybe you won’t.” Patrick replied, the crowd laughed getting the joke and at his inability to. The poké ball popped open and nothing appeared. “Get him Widow.”
“Widow what the hell?” the thug said not realizing what was going on. Suddenly Charizard started to twist and turn like he had an itch he couldn’t reach.
“Thunder wave.” The Charizard went ridged.
Patrick heard Rachael behind him whisper, “Bad move, bug - fire, fire wins.”
“He doesn’t see it yet. I’ll recall him when he realizes.” he whispered back. “Electro Ball.” Charizard again went ridged writhing in agony. “Electro ball.” The Charizard was angry and confused he saw no enemy yet he was being attacked, and that damn itch on his back he couldn’t reach.
“Take flight Char.” He spread his wings and burst into the air. “Let’s see your invisible Pokémon get him now.” Nestled between the wings Widow was secure from the force of the beating wings and wasn’t in fear of being jarred loose.
“Electro Ball!” Patrick called. That was when he realized the Pokémon wasn’t invisible he was small and on Charizard who was now soaring several dozen yards over the ground. He went ridged again and fell like and rock, slamming into the ground. He didn’t rise, finally the guy reffing the match called it to Joltik.
“Return Widow.”
“Match.”
“Not so fast there.” The guy said pulling out two more balls. “Emboar go.”
“I don’t know what to use.” he whispered back to Rachael.
“It’s a fire type.” She said helpfully.
“I only have one water, and he’s out.” he passed the dex to Rachael “I’m going to use Litwick, he’s fire so he can take it better than the rest, you scan him and tell me his weakness after we start, when Lit goes down I’ll call out a better one.” He hurriedly whispered the instructions to her under the guise of digging in his bag getting his Pokémon. “Don’t have all day here.” He pulled out Litwick and tossed it.
“Litwick.” It cried. Several people ohhed and ahhed, at the shimmer that followed him from the ball realizing he was a shiny.
“Your glitter Pokémon doesn’t stand a chance.” The crowd was hating this guy increasingly more with his attitude against any Pokémon he didn’t like. The fight started. “Flamethrower.”
“Confuse Ray.” Emboar did a spin and nearly took out his own trainer with his flamethrower.
“That way stupid!” he yelled from the ground where he had ducked.
“Golem.” He heard from behind him, Rachael had scanned him and now he had could use the weapon of mass destruction.
“Assurance” the thug called. The dark move slapped him back. “Head Smash” he quickly followed up with knocking Litwick senseless. He quickly recalled him.
“Golem go.” “Nothing you send can……” his voice died as the figure grew to over nine feet tall.
“GOLURK!” it cried cracking its massive knuckles. The crowd gasp.
“Do you know Twist Mountain?” Patrick asked.
“Huh, yeah?”
“It used to be called Straight Mountain, then Golurk changed that.” the crowd bust out laughing.
“Flamethrower Emboar!”
“Heavy Slam Golem!” He leaped into the air soaring over the flamethrower and spreading his arms did a belly flop landing on Emboar. He pushed himself up and moved back a little. The Emboar started to move “Let me help him up, Earthquake!” The ground bucked wildly throwing Emboar around like a rag doll.
“Hammer Arm!” They both called out. They collided in the middle of the ring, the resulting blast threw them both back, but being part Ghost Golem was unaffected. Emboar wasn’t so lucky.
“Get up, Get up, get up you worthless Pokémon!” The thug was shouting at his Emboar. “LOSER!” he finally said and recalled him. The ref giving the match to Golem.
“You want to quit now or use your last one?” Patrick asked.
“Shut up!” he replied. Blaziken go.
“Heavy Slam Golem.”
“Sky Uppercut.” Blaziken leaped in the air towards the falling Golurk. His attack was totally useless, Golurk grabbed him and flung him to the ground seconds later he flatten him. Blaziken started to move and without orders Golurk used Hammer Arm ending the match.
“Should have chosen your opponents better.” Patrick said as the thug turned and walked off. The crowd applauded Patrick’s win.
“Was that quick enough for you?” He turned to Rachael.
“Yeah.” She sounded a little too thrilled that he was done. “Let’s go back to the hotel and spend the rest of the day warm in bed.” She suggested.
“Ok I guess we can do that.”
They arrived back at the hotel room. “You know I probably should have you use Audino’s Heal Pulse on Seismitoad.” In a flash Audino was out.
“Where is he?” she asked. He pulled out the ball and withdrew him. “Audino use Heal Pulse.”
“That should last till we get home tomorrow.” She recalled Audino and grabbing her bag headed into the bathroom. “Find a good movie.” She called over her shoulder.
He was flipping channels when she stepped out of the bathroom wearing very little of anything, a lightweight shirt, and a short thin pair of shorts. She hopped up on the bed and crawled under the covers. “Go get changed.” He slipped out of the bed, and came back shorty wearing a t-shirt and shorts. She had found a movie that had just started. “Perfect timing it’s just starting. During the first commercial you can call room service and order something.” He was about to respond when she shushed him. “No talking.” He got back on the bed and she curled up to him. They sat in silence for an hour or so.
“I don’t think they have commercials on this station.” He finally said.
“Ok, order quietly.”
After several hours of movies it was getting late, so after the current movie ended she clicked the TV off. “I guess we’d better get some sleep, got to go home tomorrow.” She said. They clicked off the light and lay there. She moved up to his face and started kissing and rubbing his chest. He reciprocated by pulling her on top of him and rubbing her back. He gave her a light slap on the ass. “Ah!” she cried. He did it again. “Oh yeah!” she reached down and stroked him, he was hard instantly. She broke the kiss and slid down his body finally stopping and taking his dick in her mouth, sucking up and down slowly. After several minutes he could feeling it coming.
“If you don’t stop its coming.” She popped it out. “Turn around.” he told her. He pulled her up to his face and licked her pussy avoiding her clit, only hinting at hitting it she was crying out in ecstasy. Finally she couldn’t take it any longer and released over his face. She turned back around and lining up with his dick fully sank onto it. She was riding him like a bronco; she was so wild he couldn’t hold back for much long.
“Do it!” she cried out, he needed no second bidding, he released as she did, her pussy clinched his dick like a vice milking him like a cow. She lowered herself down on his chest light tracing her finger on him. “I love you so much.” She said light as a whisper.
“I love you too.” They were soon asleep.
They awoke rather earlier than usual; “We should go out for breakfast it’s still awhile before we have to be at the airport to meet Peter and Alex.” Rachael suggested. They found a nice diner close to the airport and had breakfast. They got a call from Peter telling them they would be leaving soon, he had told them the departure time the day before, so he just called to remind them. They got up and headed for the airport.
The plane ride back home was as short as the one to Driftveil. Soon they were landing. They thanked Peter and Alex and headed to the Pokémon center. They walked in the sliding glass door. “Patrick, Rachael, you’re back!” They heard as soon as they were through the door. It was Penelope.
“That’s more like it.” he said to Rachael. She smiled. He gave Penelope the Pokémon he used in the park fight the day before. She took them to the back and return shortly.
“So how was it?” she asked.
“Did you get anything new?”
“I got my Axew, and an Alomomola.” Rachael said.
“Can I see?” she called them both out. “It’s so cute.” she said looking at the fish. “Did you get anything Patrick?”
“Yeah, I got an Aron. Fairly tough too, he took a punch from Golem and was still standing.”
“WOW.” Penelope exclaimed. The bell rang and Audino brought out his Pokémon.
“Has Greg been in today?”
“No.”
“Can’t remember if he is working today.”
“Well Lisa is off today and she mentioned plans with Greg, but I can’t remember if it was dinner or a day.”
“We were going to stay in today, Why don’t you come by tonight and we can tell you all about it? We were going to invite Lisa and Greg plus Alex and Jess. Just a big party.” Rachael said.
“Ok that sounds good what time?”
“Around six.”
“Ok I’ll be there.”
“We are having a party?” he said as they stepped outside.
“Sure, it will keep us from having to tell it more than once. So let’s go get the stuff for this party.”
They cut across the park and low and behold the Rainbow Gang appeared in a flurry of color. “Hey!” it was Kris. They were all there to, including Raven.
“What do you want?”
“We haven’t forgotten what you did.”
“I have, what was it?” He fully remembered what it was but he figured that would annoy them more.
“You attacked her.” she said pointing to Raven.
“So you didn’t tell them?” he asked Raven. She proceeded to look away with a guilty look, of course her friends missed it. “So what do you want?” he asked them.
“A rematch, you against us.” Kris responded.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA” he couldn’t help himself. He would destroy them. “Are you serious?” he asked. They all nodded.
“One on one will take all day, so we can do two on two alright with you?” he asked. They agreed. “Fine pick your groups and call your Pokémon.”
They paired up and the first two were Scarlett and Kris. Scarlett called her Darumaka to his amazement it had evolved into Darmanitan. Now standing four foot tall and grinning quite psychotically. Kris called her Deino, it was unchanged but he had a feeling they had been training and that it was significantly stronger. He called Seismitoad, and to the fright of the girls who remembered the haircut Raven got, Slice. “Slice avoid the fire type. Pregame.”
“Sharp.” He said nodding understanding and seeing his target, the Deino that attacked him. He went to sharpening his blades all the time staring malevolently at the girls.
“Ready positions” he said. “Fight.”
“Fire Punch.”
“Dragon Rush.”
“Muddy Water.” Before he could order Slice he was already dodging the rush swinging his blades across the back of the Deino’s neck as it rushed passed. The Fire Punch was extinguished by the torrent of muddy water that crashed into him.
Deino was turning around, “Body Slam Deino!” The Deino leaped into the air, Patrick was going to call Iron Head but he saw Slice was already preparing to do just that.
“Flare Blitz!”
“Muddy Water!” he hoped that would be good enough but he thought back to the punk and his Charizard. He glanced back at Slice he had caught the Deino in the underside with his head blade. It was laying a short distance away. Patrick saw his eyes flash with revenge, and he started towards Deino. “Slice hold.” He stopped but looked on the verge of continuing. The muddy water was barely deflecting the Flare Blitz. “Slice Night Slash Darmanitan.” He swung towards his new target and slammed Night Slash across its face. It was flung back several feet lying unmoving. Deino was up and not realizing Kris had called a move Slice didn’t dodge the Dragon Rush. He was caught in the back knocking him forward face planting him in the ground. He pushed himself up immediately looking utterly pissed. Patrick called no move but Slice charged Deino his blades glowing as he grew closer, moving so fast the Deino couldn’t dodge he struck it with Metal Claw sending it crashing to the ground. Darmanitan still hadn’t rose, and Deino wasn’t getting back up. “Shall we call it there or continue with this massacre?”
“You are fighting all of us, are you afraid?” Amber accused.
“After that fight, I’m just trembling.” He replied sarcastically. “Next on the chopping block.” He continued.
Jade and Violet stepped up. Violet called out her now evolved Purrloin, Liepard. Jade called her Maractus. Slice stepped up. “Slice come here.” Slice turned his head glaring at Patrick but complied. “You’re not in this fight I got one for you I know you will love, she is probably next or last but I need to save you for that.”
“Sharp” he nodded and took a seat next to Rachael.
“Timburr, Rufflet.” He called forth. “Fight.” He called when they were all ready.
“Needle Arm.”
“Slash.”
“Air Slash.”
“Low Kick.” The Low kick was aimed at the Liepard but it went for Rufflet so it missed as did Liepard’s slash. However Rufflet who was airborne was unimpeded launched blades of air into Maractus. It staggered around from the hit. “Again Rufflet.” He again launched blades of air at Maractus. It toppled to the ground. She recalled it a sent out her evolved Petilil, Lilligant. Liepard had resumed his attack on Timburr, Timburr was dodging every consecutive slash. “It looks tired Timburr Wake-Up Slap.” It thrust its timber into Liepard’s chest to give it some room then launched forward and slapped it several times. “Just club it!” Patrick shouted. He drew back his wood and swung it like a baseball bat into Liepard’s head. There was a sickening crack as it sank to the ground. He turned his attention back to the other fight of Rufflet and Lilligant. She was throwing energy balls one after another at Rufflet and have no orders to act on he continued to dodge them. “Aerial Ace.” he called. Finally having an order it went into a corkscrewing dive-bomb striking the slow moving Lilligant with his wing.
“Leaf Storm.” he heard her call. Nothing happened. It was winter and there were no leaves.
“Air Slash.” Rufflet soared upwards and launched the air blades at Lilligant striking it. As he watched that fight he was completely oblivious to the Liepard trying to slash Timburr. Luckily Timburr was paying attention. He used his wood to deflect the attack and gave it a pound attack with the wood just to make sure he was down. “Aerial Ace again.” That was the finishing move. The fight was over. He was about recall Timburr when he glowed. He grew an extra foot and was now sporting a steel girder.
“GURDURR!” He cried.
“Next.” he called.
Auburn and Amber stepped up next. An evil grim spread across his face. The electric spider girl, I got just the Pokémon for her. He thought. She called out her Joltik it was now a Galvantula. Auburn called out her Boufflant. Patrick called out Golem the collective gasp was just what he was going for, the girls gasp in awe as Golems full nine feet height was reached. Patrick heard Slice chuckle.
“Golurk” he said. Glad he hadn’t recalled Gurdurr sent him in. They were in position.
“Fight!”
“Head Charge.”
“Low kick.” he called as Boufflant charged. He stuck his leg out and Boufflant tripped.
“Electroweb” the web had the bad luck to strike Golem. He just pulled it off and threw it down.
“Heavy Slam.” Being small he wasn’t able to run far enough to avoid the crushing attack. Golem got up and the Galvantula was done. “Hammer Arm.” The crushing blow of Golem’s Hammer Arm drilled down upon Boufflant and he was finished.
“And the last one…” Raven stepped up. “Slice you’re up.” He leapt to his feet and rushed to the ring thirsty for blood and revenge.
“Figures you’d use him. Can’t fight fair.”
“Fair? Alright.” He kicked his bag over and ALL his balls rolled out and popped out one by one. I’ll be as fair as you’ll were when you attacked me.” All his Pokémon stood there looking at her. “Now, you can fight him.” he gestured to Slice. “Or you can fight them.” He gestured to them all with a wave of his arm. She glanced at his nineteen Pokémon.
“Fine, I’ll fight him.” she pointed to Slice. He waved the other Pokémon back.
“Remember them if you ever ambush me again.” He commented to the other girls. She called out her Gothita that he wasn’t surprised had evolved to Gothitelle. “To your starting positions. Ready? Fight”
“Psybeam.”
“Night Slash.” The beam passed harmlessly over Slice and Night Slashed Gothitelle across the chest.
“Doubleslap.” she called as he was so close. She swung her slap at Slice but he raised his arm, and instead of his face her hand ran over the blade on his arm and was sliced open like butter. She recoiled back her hand covered in blood. “Nothing you have can touch him I suggest you forfeit.”
“Future Sight”
“Night Slash.” He leapt at his prey hunger for revenge and slashed her yet again, but he didn’t stop there, he continued to rain metal claw attacks one after another on to her as she lay curled up on the ground. “Yield Slice!” A web lasso wrapped around Slice’s waist and he was pulled off by Golem who had the other end, Slice still heartlessly swinging away. “I suggest you forfeit or that will happen again, and there isn’t a Pokémon I have that won’t do the same thing. They all know what you did to Slice, Zoroark, and me.”
“I forfeit.” She said.
“Now I don’t know how far Golem can throw but if any of you ever bother me again I will find out. Any of your Pokémon know Fly?” They all left in flurry of color. He started recalling Pokémon and replacing balls in his bag stashing a few choice ones in his pocket absentmindedly.
They made a quick trip through the store grabbing candy and stuff for sandwiches, finger foods, and drinks, and then hurried back to the apartment. The unexpected fights had slowed them down, although he was happy he finally had resolved that problem. Hopefully he wouldn’t see them again. They did a little cleaning as they had been gone for several days, made some calls to everyone they wanted there, since most worked during the day and Penelope was working now everyone could make it. They finished about five thirty and sat down to relax a minute before anyone arrived. Zoroark was sitting in the corner with Slice, and they seemed to be having a conversation. He saw Slice mime a slice and was guessing he was relaying the fight he had even though Zoroark had seen it. Zoroark made a reply and Slice laughed then closed his eyes and leaned back against the wall.
“Zoroark.” Patrick called waving him over. Standing a little over five feet he would be looking eye to eye with Patrick if he was standing. “Kneel.” He took a knee. “I’ve been thinking, you’re one of my first Pokémon and you don’t have a nickname. I guess it’s because I’ve been trying to think of the perfect one for you, and after what I saw you do in the Mistralton Cave I think I got it. Would you like a name?”
“Zor.” He confirmed with a nod.
“Alright, Shadow. After I sent you to find those Pokémon for us you move like one and as quietly too. Do you like that name?”
“Zoro.” he nodded. “Alright then you are now Shadow.”
“Zoroark.” He replied. He called out Gurdurr to look over his new Pokémon.
“Bender.” He said after a while of watching him flex his muscles. He left out Gurdurr and called out Aron, he knew at least Greg would want see him, he figured Jess would too.
The doorbell rang and Rachael got up to answer it. It was Lisa and Greg, followed shortly by Jess.
“Alex called, she’ll be a little late.” Jess commented as she sat down. They talked about what Lisa, Jess and Greg had been doing while they waited for Penelope and Alex.
Soon there was a knock at the door, and it was Penelope and Alex. They all got a plate of food and sat down in the living room. It was Jess that brought up the subject almost immediately.
“So how was your trip?” he started the story about walking through the cave and finding nothing and sending Shadow, he explained that too, to scout ahead and sure enough the Pokémon were avoiding them. He told how he had Zoroark lure the Axew to them, he didn’t really lure it, he carried one right to them. Rachael put in the part about her catching Axew. He then told them the story of the Aron, who he gestured to. He was right, Greg wanted to see him, especially after he heard he took a punch from Golem.
“He doesn’t look all that special. OOOWWW!” Greg cried out. Hearing that Aron head-butted his leg, it was painful. Jess reached down and picked up Aron.
“He is cute through.”
“I call him Soldier.” He could tell Aron like the comment from her as he stayed near her the rest of the night. He came to the part where they met Alex and she took the story from there. Lisa, Jess and Penelope were in shock after the part about Scrafty falling over the edge. She continued to the part where Zoroark went over the edge and finished pulling Scrafty up.
“Lucky Patrick and Rachael found me or I might be minus Scrafty now.”
“He is handy to have around.” Jess commented passing him a sly look that he had a hard time trying to forget. Rachael chose to ignore this but she would bring it up to him later. He mentioned the guy in the park that told him about training.
“And I challenged the gym.” He glanced over, but Greg and Jess both said.
“Hold on, you challenged the Gym?”
“Yeah.” He told them of the upset that had ensued.
“Well what did you expect? He is a Gym leader, they aren’t pushovers.” Greg said.
“I’m surprised you challenged him. I could never do that.” Jess said in a more than friendly voice. He glanced at Rachael and saw she was noticing it too. He told them of the park battle with the guy with the Charizard.
“Wow a Charizard!” Greg said. “I would love to have one of those.”
“So would I.” He also had to mention the reappearance of the Rainbow Gang.
“Those bitches?” Lisa said.
“Yeah.” He told of each fight and how they had evolved their Pokémon probably just to fight him and win, and how he beat them thoroughly. He got to the part about Raven. “So she was last probably thought she could beat me after her friends wore me down, she didn’t know how many Pokémon I had and how strong they were. I brought out Slice and she said something about not fighting fair.” They all let out a laugh at that.
“Fair? After the ambush her friends pulled on you?” Jess commented.
“Same thing I told her. I knocked over my bag and said I can be as fair as she was, she could fight them all or just Slice, surprising she just picked Slice. He nearly killed her Gothitelle too.”
“Yeah it was in bad shape.” It was Penelope.
“You saw her?”
“She came to the Pokémon center. All her friends did. You beat them bad.”
“They asked for it.”
“I know. I recognized them when they came in. I saw her Gothitelle and recognized Slice’s work. I asked how she got the injures, she said training, but I knew she was lying, and she knew I knew what had happened.”
“I’m just glad you finally got revenge.”
“Haha.” He laughed. “If Slice was out here he would disagree. He wasn’t finished.”
“Well I’m just glad you’re back.” Jess said. “Your underlings aren’t any fun to be around. They are boring, and not much help. You’re much more fun.” She continued.
“Well not many people carry crazy Pokémon. I’ll be back at work in two days.” They continued talking late into the night, finally realizing the time they decided it was time to call it a night.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” Rachael told Lisa and Penelope.
Patrick had started to throw away the trash. “Put that down.” Rachael said from behind him. She wrapped her arms around him pinning his arms to his side. “What is between you and Jess?”
“What?” he was totally shocked by the question. “Nothing. Why?” he answered.
“Her comments tonight, she acts like there is something between the two of you.”
“I told you she's like that and I think she kind of likes me. Greg and you have said as much. You know it’s funny, if I hadn’t meet you I would never have meet her, another girl that likes me. I would still be a lonely sad guy. It’s because of you that I’m meeting all these girls that like me. Raven, Jess, Alex a little.”
“Yes all the girls are into you because I have you.” She said in a snide way.
“No it’s true.”
“I know.” she replied. “Let’s leave this for tomorrow.” she said about the trash. “Come sit with me on the couch.” He sat down and she sat right next to him curling up laying against him. As Patrick reflects on his life he realized, it doesn’t get any better than it is right now.
