Materializing on the other side of the portal inside the mage tower, Teller paused for a moment to get her bearings.
Ignoring the looks of disdain directed at her by the mage trainers, she continued through the swirling mists of green that separated the training section of the tower from the spiral ramp that lead to the outside. Jogging down the ramp and exiting the tower, Teller was assaulted by the sights and sounds of Stormwind.
Mounting onto her death charger and running down the exterior ramp, she felt the wind lifting her hair and the sun baring down on her and the memories of living here flashes like still frames in her mind. A shot of her running to the park with her mother as a young girl on an outting....another flash of her and Banker standing in front of a small townhouse in the district as Banker was signing papers with a smile on his face....then his face changed, morphing into a terrified scream, his mouth forming words she couldn't make out and the phantom pain pierced her stomach again....shaking herself out of her reverie and realizing she'd stopped riding and was standing in the middle of the breezeway, Teller focused on throwing a wall up to block those mental images and she headed off in the direction of the counting house to find and confront Banker.
Banker was heading down the front steps of the counting house, making his daily trip to the Inn for lunch when he saw Teller on her death charger coming down the alleyway, having just turned from the direction of the mage district.'So she's returning after all”, he thought silently as he watched her approach. Stopping in front of him and dismounting, Teller turned to tie her mount to the framework outside the Inn and turned back to Banker in time to see him motion for her to follow him in.
Finding that Allison had his usual already waiting for him, he took the food with a nod and went upstairs rather than taking up his usual spot at the back table. Following him up the stairs he stopped outside the doorway of his room and turned to face her, holding his plate, forgotten, in his hand. Well?”, Banker asked her flatly. “It is done.”, Teller quietly answered.
Narrowing his eyes, Banker turned to unlock the door to his room and walked in, leaving the door open for Teller to pass through.
As soon as Teller shut the door behind her, Banker exploded.
Slamming his plate down on the table, chipping the porcelain in the process he shouted “ YOU MEAN to TELL ME that BASTARD just...just GAVE you your FREEDOM? JUST LIKE THAT?!”
Fury blazing in his eyes, he was barely able to control his temper as his tirade continued. “ What the HELL was the point in doing this if he was just going to let you go?! WHAT AN ASS!”. Banker fumed as he slumped down on the bed, feet widespread on the floor with his elbows resting on his knees.
“He did give me my freedom 'just like that', he said that he'd never intended to hold my will for any length of time....his excuse was that he did it to anger you and torment you for what you'd done...whatever that means...but he asked me to tell you he was sorry.”, Teller replied softly one hand still on the door knob behind her.“Sorry....” Banker repeated with venom dripping from his voice shooting up off the bed with both fists clenching and unclenching, “ He's SORRY?! That MONSTER drags my dead wife's corpse out of the grave, shoves her in my face and then has the nerve to say he's SORRY?”Flinching at the word monster, Teller turned the knob and turned to leave, her heart hardening to the pain she didn't realize she'd still be able to feel at his reaction.“Hey...” Banker stepped over to shut the door that Teller was in the process of opening, “ look...I'm sorry OK? I'm not mad at you, you had no choice in this...this....” at a loss for words and standing inches away from her, Banker just looked at her.She was still beautiful he thought as he stared at her from such close range. She looked just as he'd remembered her in his dreams, her hair just as dark and thick, her lips red and full, slightly parted in reaction to his standing so close to her. Knowing he was making her nervous gave him an odd thrill as he continued his visual perusal of her.
Her skin was paler than it had been in life but that didn't take away from her beauty but more so, seemed to enhance it, giving her a slight glow. Looking down from her face, he could see that death had in no way been a detriment to her body either, her full breasts shaping to the plate material she wore as a breastplate. Her stomach was still trim and it gave more dimension to her flared hips.
Dragging his eyes slowly back up to her face, he saw that she had also been taking this moment to study him in detail and that thought stirred emotions inside him that he didn't know he could still feel. Looking into her eyes, he could see the hesitance and an underlying current...possibly fear...flashing through them.
He wasn't sure what to do but he felt....he felt something for this woman who had been and still was his wife. He'd already checked the laws on the resurrection of people and per the law, since he'd not taken a new wife during her death, he was in fact still legally her husband.
Stepping back from her and taking his hand from the door, he turned and went to pick up the things he'd need for the rest of his afternoon in the counting house. “ Teller....I don't know what the future holds but I can't let you go. You can stay with me here. You WILL act as my wife in ALL ways..” Banker looked at her pointedly, waiting for a denial or an argument to which she gave him none..”you will work and we will live together. That is all I can promise for now.”Silently, Teller studied his face as he stood in front of her. It was not the welcome a woman would want from her husband but she'd expected worse. She was actually surprised that he'd decided to accept her at all and though she wasn't necessarily sure she was ready for this, she knew she had no where else to go and looking at his handsome face, so much the face she remembered, brought back warmth into her chest where the rest of her lay coldly empty.“I will agree to your terms...Banker....and I will do what you ask of me.” Hoping the hardness in his eyes would soften over time, she moved back and allowed him to pass before her through the door with a nod of his head. “ The first order of business will be getting you out of that garbage you're wearing and into something for sexy for me to look at...” , He trailed off as she followed him down the stairs and out the front door of the Inn.
