Author Note: Things are looking up in this chapter! More warnings for gay sex this time around!"I do not own Pokemon or the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story."________________________________________________________Maxie's POV:Archie, why did you come back to haunt me after all this time? I kept wondering to myself why he would appear now and bother me like this. I wasn't sure I could bear his presence; it hurt too much. The least he could do was leave me be so that I might be able to pick up the scraps of my life and continue on in peace... I sighed and rolled over. Sleep wasn't coming to me this night and I knew it, but I continued to lay there. I didn't feel like getting up this time and doing anything useful. I sighed again and waited until the morning sun shone through the blinds of my new apartment.I headed off to work as per usual this morning. My students were all half-asleep this morning - the lucky bastards. I delivered my rousing lecture on volcanic rock formation anyway, even if they didn't appreciate it. After I'd finished two blocks worth of classes, I headed back to my on-campus office to eat some lunch alone since I didn't feel like going out to eat today."Hello, sir," Courtney greeted me as I walked past. I had made her my new secretary/teacher's aide since she was so organized and efficient."Hello," I replied. "Did you order my lunch for me?""Yes, sir," she said, "It's been delivered to your desk for you.""Thank you, Courtney, that will be all." I shut the door quietly behind me and started eating my chicken salad in its plastic tray. There were papers on my desk that technically needed to be graded but I didn't really feel like doing them right now. I finished eating and grudgingly picked up the first paper in the stack when I heard a commotion outside my door."Please let me through!" someone yelled."I'm sorry," Courtney stated firmly, "But he doesn't like to be bothered on his lunch break.""Please, I need to see him," the voice begged. I leaned a bit closer and listened before realizing that the voice belonged to Archie. Suddenly my door burst open and Archie practically fell inward with Courtney looking distressed behind him."I'm sorry, sir, but he barged in before I could do anything!" she said."It's okay," I replied, shooing her out the door, "I'll meet with him right now. Thank you." With that, I got up and shut the door behind us before turning to Archie. He sucked in a deep breath before beginning whatever little speech he had planned for me, "Maxie, please, please forgive me! What I did that day was wrong, and I regretted it ever since I did it! It's just that the peer pressure got to me, but I am so sorry! Please..." He had burst in here for that?"It's alright, Archie, I've already forgiven you. It doesn't matter now," I reassured him."No, Maxie, it does matter! It's more than that...I – I want you back...with me." He slid up close to me and pulled me softly into his arms. That embrace was so sweet, so warm...I had craved for it for so many years, that I could easily just sink back in... I subconsciously started to rest my head against his chest once more, in that old familiar pattern. NO! I pulled away at the last second, jerking out of his grasp."Archie, please," I whispered, "please don't tease me like that – it's cruel.""Maxie," he begged, "Please believe me. I'm not teasing you. I missed you so much that I couldn't stop thinking about you after you left. I kept trying to date other people, but it never felt right again. I couldn't stop wanting you instead.""I never dated anyone else after you, either..." I muttered quietly."Maxie, please, I love you," he said with a strain in his voice, "...please love me too?""Archie, I...don't even know your last name," was the only thing I could think to say at that moment."It's Aquiles," he replied quickly, "and you're Dr. Pembrook like it says on your door - so please love me." I tried to clear my head of all the crazy emotions swirling around inside."Archie," I finally managed, "I'm not sure...I can do that.""Why? Why not? Do you not love me back?" he questioned."It's not that," I answered slowly, "It's just that I'm not...sure I can do that.""What?" he asked."The things you want. I'm not sure," I replied, but I could tell he didn't understand what I meant. I walked over to my couch and sat down. Archie followed me, sitting down next to me. He looked so heartbroken that I almost felt bad for what I was about to say."Archie, I would like to say that I love you, but I'm very sorry - I don't think I can love you correctly."He looked adorably confused. "What does that mean?" he asked.I sighed. I would have to explain this as though I were teaching a child, apparently. "Archie," I began slowly, "It's not that I don't like you, or even love you, perhaps. When you held me a moment ago, every fiber of my being ached to just relax into your arms, and it took immense willpower for me to pull away. It's just that, when you said you loved me and asked me to love you back, well, there are certain meanings and expectations attached to a statement like that." He stared blankly at me, clearly not yet understanding what I was trying to say. "Well," I continued, "generally when people proclaim their love for each other, there are certain social expectations about what that means. When people say they love each other, they expect to move in together, and live together for the rest of their lives, and possibly raise children together. You already know that I'm somewhat...eccentric. I don't think I could stand to live with another person, and I really don't like children because they shriek all the time and their erratic movements confuse and disturb me. The point is, I don't think I can give you all those normal things that normal people would want from a relationship, so I don't think you should choose to love me. I'm sure you'd be happier if you transferred your affections to someone better than me." I finished up my very thorough explanation and waited for Archie to say something. He just looked baffled. "Maxie, none of those things are the same as 'love', and only you would say something so odd and wrong about basic human emotions! That's why I love you... I can't help it, I just do! Love isn't living in someone's house or raising snotty kids or any of that stuff – it's a feeling in here." He pointed to his chest."Well," I muttered wryly, "my chest hurts whenever I think about you now.""Yes!" he exclaimed triumphantly, "That's because you love me!""Oh, well," I replied, "it feels horrible. Why do people like this 'love' thing, again?" Archie suddenly just laughed at me. I waited for him to stop and regain his senses."Maxie, listen, you don't have to do any of those things. Remember when we used to just visit each other and spend time together - we had a good time, didn't we?""Yes, for the most part," I replied."Well," he continued, "We can just continue to do that, can't we? You don't even have to tell me that you love me, if you don't want to. Please, Maxie, I just want to see you and be with you again. I...miss you so much."I blinked at him, not sure if I could fully trust his words. "Archie, don't you think that you would tire of that lifestyle eventually? We are both getting older now, and I can't imagine you'd be happy in the long-term with a casual relationship like that...at the very least, you'd eventually wish to move in with me."He suddenly grinned at me. "Maxie, I have an idea, why don't we just get two houses later and build them side by side? That'd work great!"I rolled my eyes at him. "We can't do that; people would think we were weird," I replied.Uh, Maxie, I hate to break it to you, but people already think that you're weird. I mean, that boat has already sailed, you might as well just embrace your weirdness and go with what makes you happy. We could wear nothing but thongs every day and do fist bumps with our crotches if we wanted to!" I couldn't help it, but after all these years, that man had gotten me to smile genuinely again."Archie, as lovely as that idea is, I have to go to my afternoon classes now or I'll be late. If you'd like to continue this conversation, you can meet me this afternoon at my new apartment. Courtney can give you the address. Bye for now," I said as I exited my door. Courtney dutifully handed Archie the address written on the back of a business card as we walked out the door. Archie couldn't help but pull me into a tight embrace in the hallway before I wiggled out of his grasp and continued on to my classes.________________________________________________________
Archie's POV:YES! Yes! I'd done it! I'd managed to convince Maxie to give me another chance! Yes! I was so happy I thought I might burst. Oh, but he didn't say he would date me again, only that he'd keep talking to me. I had to be careful, because Maxie might still tell me no. I could understand why he would, I'd been terrible to him... Still, I had a chance to change his mind, and I would take it.I grabbed a small gift for Maxie as I headed over to his address. The apartment complex was small and tucked away on a side street. I found his door and knocked, waiting. He might not be home yet. I perked up when I saw the door swing open. Maxie was standing there in his traditional outfit; he looked hesitant, or perhaps...wary. I rushed inside before he even had a chance to invite me in. It seemed that he'd chosen another studio apartment for himself, and it was just as freakishly clean and organized in here as I was expecting."Oh, hey, I brought you something," I said as I offered a box to Maxie, "It's another box of oatmeal for your weird oatmeal cabinet.""Why thank you, Archie," he replied dryly as he took it. I watched as he filed it away into one of the kitchen cabinets. So I was right - he did still have a weird oatmeal cabinet!"So, Archie, I suppose there's some things you'd like to discuss," Maxie said tiredly as he sat down on the edge of his bed."Um...yeah, I-" I wasn't exactly sure what to say now, "-I love you, like I said before. I was hoping we could go back to the way we were before, or even more, if you wanted."Maxie just sat there with a strange, unreadable expression on his face. "But it's different now, isn't it?" he asked, "Now that you love me, things are going to be different now..."I sat down next to him on the bed, getting as close as I dared to. "Maxie, I loved you before, I just didn't realize it. Things don't necessarily have to be any different if you don't want them to be – we can still visit each other on the weekends, although I'd like to see you more often, if you're willing. I just – I want you back in my life." Maxie sat and seemed lost deep in thought. I waited patiently for him to speak."Archie, I think...I love you, too." My heart thrilled to hear those words. "However," he continued, "I would just like to say that if you decide that you don't want me anymore in future, I'd understand if you chose to leave or if you decided you wanted to see other people. I'd understand and I promise not to be angry with you, alright?""Oh, Maxie..." It hurt my heart to hear him talk like that. "I don't want anyone else but you," I reaffirmed."Alright, well, then, I suppose I accept your kind offer. Thank you, Archie," he said as he stared at the floor.I leaned in close and cautiously snaked an arm around him. He didn't move or resist me, so I let it stay. He just kept staring at the floor, though, and didn't speak for awhile."Archie?" he finally broke the silence, "Do you want to have sex with me?"I sighed at him. "No, Maxie, I do not. I want to make love to you."He looked up at me. "Aren't those the same thing?" he questioned."Don't worry about," I replied with a chuckle, "Just relax and I'll do my best to make you feel as good as I possibly can." With that, I took him into my arms and kissed him softly. He returned my kiss, slowly at first and then more eagerly. I continued kissing him as I pushed him down gently onto the bed. He moaned softly, and I pressed our bodies together. I could already feel his arousal, and he could undoubtedly feel mine."Maxie," I said after we parted for breath, "we should get all these clothes off."He nodded and stood up to begin stripping as I did the same. He laid back down under the covers, still looking mildly hesitant about this whole thing. I crawled in after him and nestled down on top of him, between his parted legs. "Maxie, would you do me a favor?""What's that?" he asked."Would you please take off your glasses?""Why?" he said in a slightly defensive tone. "Please...I want to see your face.""I'm...looking rather ugly nowadays, Archie. Why would you want to be distracted by that?" I reached for his glasses and slowly pulled them off. Maxie winced and turned his head to the side."You're beautiful, Maxie," I assured him, "and I want to see all of you, please." I gently took his face in my hand and turned it to meet my gaze. It was true, he did look rather haggard, but I could see the softness in his expression without those glasses to hide behind. His gaze held a hint of fear right now, but I leaned down and kissed to assure him that he was still beautiful despite his flaws.I kissed him slowly and softly, trying hard not to rush this. Although, down there, I felt so hard I was practically aching. Eventually we parted for air, and I slipped down Maxie's body, placing soft kisses along his chest and stomach that caused him to giggle. What a lovely sound... I settled on my target, though, which was Maxie's stiff, weeping cock. I slid my mouth over, sucking and bobbing my head fervently. Maxie was moaning and quivering now, and I could feel his hips trembling. Eventually, though, Maxie's hand tugged at my hair. "Archie, if you don't stop, I'm not going to make it to the next step."I left his cock with a small popping sound, then placed a kiss on the tip. "I don't suppose you'd be ready?" I asked with a soft chuckle.Maxie smiled lightly at me. "Well, I suppose I am, but what about you?" he asked."Oh, I'm so ready it practically hurts," I answered honestly. "I hope you'll let me have you..." I whispered.Maxie nodded and said simply, "Yes."I grabbed a condom and put it on as quickly as I could physically manage, and I generously lubed my hands with some of Maxie's lotion. I wanted inside him now and I could hardly wait any longer. I pressed myself to his entrance and waited, watching his expression for approval. He nodded slightly and I pressed inwards. Ugh! It was so tight....as tight as I remembered. I slid in slowly, trying to hang onto every ounce of self-control I had in me. "M-Maxie..." I stammered out as I continued pressing in. Once I was fully seated, I held as still as I possibly could. Maxie wrapped his legs around my waist, though, and asked me to "please move." That was it. I could take any more. I rocked into him, unable to hold back any longer. Maxie clung to me, moaning and whimpering softly, and tried to help keep pace with his thrusts, and soon, it was all too much. I groaned out and panted harshly as I came hard, deep inside my red-haired lover. I felt Maxie tremble beneath me as his warm essence coated our stomachs. I pulled out after a few minutes and we simply lay together. I could not think of any experience that was more beautiful... "I love you," I whispered to him, and a few moments later, I heard a soft "I love you, too," in reply. He buried his face in my chest and I held him close, hoping he would get some sleep now.In the morning, Maxie shooed me out of his apartment, as he had another day of work to attend. I didn't care, though, I was just so happy to have my little nerd back. I headed back to my hotel room to look at the apartment listings. I was definitely going to settle down here now, and there weren't any doubts about that! Around lunch, Matt and Shelley met me for some food."Hey, bro, so how did it go?" Matt questioned."Did that stupid dork fall for your charms?" Shelley asked."Excuse, me, Shelley, but please don't refer to him that way, and yes, he took me back. I'm so happy!" I beamed."So," Shelley said, "When are you guys moving in?"I frowned a bit. "Well, probably never," I replied."Whaaat? That's kinda madness, don't you think?" she said."Eh, no, we're doing what's best for us, so I don't care," I told her.She shrugged her shoulders, "Okay, whatever makes you happy." Matt nodded his agreement and we ate our burgers happily.________________________________________________________
Maxie's POV:Archie and I continued seeing each other over the next several months. He chose to stay in this city to be close to me, and he managed to get a job as a lifeguard once more (he'd even taken on a secondary job as a swimsuit model, so now I could legitimately say I was dating a swimsuit model! Woo!). I continued teaching my classes, and we were quickly falling back into that familiar rhythm just like the old days. I didn't always say it, but I was truly happy that he'd come back into my life. I even slept better now, and I was starting to slowly look less tired around the eyes. I was truly grateful that he'd come back, I just hoped that he wouldn't get tired of me eventually...I was scheduled to visit him again today, but this time I'd be heading over to his place. His apartment was on the opposite side of town, and I caught a taxi and then wended my way through the streets to get there. Archie had intended to get one closer, but it ended up being the only decent place available at this time. He kept talking about obtaining one closer, but we were still touchy and undecided about the whole 'living arrangement' thing. Archie kept hinting that he wanted to live much closer to me, and I kept reminding him that I still couldn't live with him. We didn't exactly argue, per se, about this point, but it was something that hung in the back of my mind. I wondered if he'd get sick of my unique...limitations and leave me someday. Well, it was something I didn't really like to think about, so I pushed those thoughts away as I approached his door. Before I could even knock the door swung open and Archie pulled me inside. "Hey, Maxie!" he said excitedly, "You gotta check this out! I'm in a magazine!" He thrust a magazine page at my face and I took it from him. There he was, all decked out in a speedo and looking sexy on the beach in a glossy two-page ad."You look wonderful," I replied. I really was quite lucky..."Oh, hey look at this, too!" Archie said as he handed me a business card. It had his name and contact information on it. "It's for if I decide to do other freelance modeling work," he explained. I nodded but I couldn't help but notice that the name on the card read "Archie Aquiles." I was curious now as to why he didn't put his proper name on them."Archie? I noticed that you put your nickname on here...Isn't your full name 'Archibald'?"He looked hilariously taken aback at that question. "Hell no!" he said with a big grin, "My mom would never go for a stuffy name like that! So, it's just plain 'Archie'.""Oh..." was all I could think to reply with.Archie suddenly looked thoughtful. "You know, Maxie...I should take you home to meet my mom soon. I'm sure she'd love to see you!""Really? You want to take me home to your mother?" I asked incredulously, "Do you want your poor mother to be terribly disappointed in your life choices?"Archie just laughed and shook his head. "Don't be silly, Maxie, mom will love you!" I felt suddenly nervous about the prospect of meeting Archie's parents..."Oh, but Archie, what about your father?" Archie shook his head. "Eh, don't worry about him – we don't really know who he is anyways.""You don't have a father?" I questioned."Don't be silly," he replied, "Of course I do. We just aren't sure exactly who he is, is all.""Does that...bother you?" I asked carefully."Nope!" Archie proclaimed happily.I nodded and smiled at him before saying, "Well, that's fine then. I shall meet your mother."Archie hugged me then, but then pulled away. "Oh, but Maxie, what about your parents? You've never told me about them."I sighed deeply. It depressed me thinking about this, but I imagined that Archie would need to know eventually. "Well," I began, "my parents are...dead. They died when I was 16 in a boating accident."Archie's expression suddenly turned very serious. "Oh...is that why you don't like the water?" he asked quietly."No," I replied, "I already had a fear of the water – I don't really know why – that's why I didn't go with them on their boating trip. This event, however, didn't do anything to improve my opinion of the ocean. After they died, the courts wanted to send me to foster care because I didn't have any other relatives, but I managed to convince them that I was capable enough to be declared an emancipated minor. I carefully budgeted my inheritance and supported myself long enough to make it to college, where I won an academic scholarship. Then I got a part-time job as a research assistant for awhile to help supplement the bills, but I knew that I had to get a real job successfully or I wouldn't make it." Archie had grown very quiet over the course of my story, and I was afraid that it had been too depressing, and I had spoiled the good mood."Maxie...I'm sorry I teased you before for being a nerd. I kinda understand now why you were always so serious and why you studied constantly. I'm really sorry about that." I hugged him close."Don't worry about it," I reassured him, "That really isn't your burden to bear." We sat in companionable silence for a bit as Archie held me close. Suddenly, Archie looked up at the clock."Hey, Maxie, we gotta get going now.""Going where?" I asked."I told Tabi, Courtney, and my friends that we'd meet them for lunch today," he responded as he pulled me towards the door. It was a rather sudden change of plans, and I was surprised that he hadn't warned me sooner.I let Archie lead me across town to a small outdoor bistro. I noticed Matt and Shelley sitting at one of the tiny tables, while Courtney and Tabitha were seating at the table next to theirs. There was another table with a reserved sign on it adjacent to theirs – I presumed it was for Archie and I. I sat down and the waiter arrived soon, and everyone placed their orders. We all made small talk with each other, but I couldn't help but notice the odd atmosphere among everyone here. They all seemed strangely excited – I kept noticing that Matt and Shelley couldn't stop smiling and giggling at everything being said, and Tabitha kept smiling as well. Courtney had an unusually confused expression on her face, almost as though she didn't quite know what was going on, for some reason. As I finished my plate, I noticed that Archie was staring at me expectantly, with a strange half-grin on his face. I stared back at him questioningly. What exactly was going on here?!Suddenly Archie pulled something out of his pocket and offered it to me. It was a small jewelry box. I opened it and peeked inside. "Maxie, will you marry me?" Archie said with a slight tremor in his voice. I expected a ring inside the box now, but it wasn't."Hey!" Shelley yelled over my shoulder, "That's not a ring! It's just a lumpy red rock!""Actually, Shelley," I corrected, "It's a raw, uncut ruby. Rubies are a variant of the mineral corundum, and the red color is mainly caused by the presence of chromium, but they are actually very close in composition to sapphires.""Oh, wow, I didn't know that," Matt piped up from the side.Archie coughed. "Oh! Yes, that's right!" I exclaimed, "I guess you'd like an answer to the whole marriage proposal?""Yeah, that'd be nice," he said with a patient smile."Well, I suppose I will," I answered. Suddenly everyone cheered and clapped, and I felt a bit embarrassed by the whole thing. We bid our friends farewell as we headed back to my apartment this time. I knew Archie wanted to spend the night, and I was glad he would. I really wanted to talk about this some more. As soon as we got back to my place, Archie flopped down on my bed. I sat down beside him. "Um, Archie, I know I said I'd marry you...but you do realize that I'm still pretty certain that I couldn't live with you.""That's okay, Maxie, I've been thinking about this." Oh no... "What we can do," he continued, "Is to buy a plot of land, and have a duplex built on it, and then you can live in one side and I can live on the other. How's that sound?"It was a crazy idea. Yet, the more I thought about it, the more it appealed to me. I liked it conceptually, but I feared for what people would think of us. "Archie, aren't you worried that people will think us odd?""Nope!" he stated happily."You're not concerned that people will label us as 'weird'?""Nope!" he repeated, grinning."But Archie," I said, exasperated that he wasn't taking this seriously, "People WILL think we are strange. Won't you be embarrassed when you have to explain our unusual arrangement to others?"Archie's expression softened a bit into a more serious one. "I really don't care what they think, so long as you and I are happy," he said softly. He pulled me into an embrace after that, and I let myself be held. I guess Archie was right – it only mattered that we were happy doing what worked for us – it didn't really matter what others thought of it. Still, I had to convince Archie's mother to like me....that'd be my last hurdle.________________________________________________________
Archie's POV:Of course I'd told my mom about me dating Maxie, and she was super eager to meet him. I did warn her that he was a bit shy and just a tad eccentric, but she just seemed happy that I was finally settling down with someone for real. Maxie seemed nervous about the whole thing, but I knew it'd be fine. Mom would love him once she got to know him!We were all set to visit now. She lived in Mossdeep, and we'd be taking a boat over there. I was concerned that Maxie wouldn't like that at all, but he seemed to do alright on the boat ride over there. He didn't seem super thrilled about it, but he didn't have any nervous breakdowns either, so I figured it was all good. Once we'd gotten ashore we caught a cab over to a patch of beach that was a couple miles down. Mom had a small beach cottage next to the ocean. I loved it, but I hoped that Maxie would feel comfortable spending the night there so close to the sea.Once we'd arrived, I knocked on the door of that little bright-pink cottage. The door burst open and mom greeted us enthusiastically. "Welcome back, Archie! I'm so glad to see you!" she shouted as she practically bounced in the doorway. Despite her age she still looked good – in fact, most people probably wouldn't be able to guess her real age. I noted, with some amusement, that she had worn her pirate skull shirt today, along with baggy cutoff shorts (which looked a bit too long on her petite frame), and a bandana holding back her abundant, messy brown curls. Even on this occasion, she was dressed as casually as ever. "Well, where is he?" she asked me."Right here," I said, gesturing to my side...except that Maxie wasn't there. I turned around and he was hiding behind me, looking very nervous and flustered. I gently guided him back around and through the door. "Ah, here we go, he's just a bit shy. Say 'hello', Maxie," I said as I poked him in the side."U-uhm, hello, Miss Aquiles," he stammered out, "It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Dr. Maximilian Pembrook. I am currently engaged to your son...I hope this doesn't perturb you."She just sort of looked at him confusedly for a moment before responding. "Aw! Look how cute you are, all proper and formal and stuff," she squealed at Maxie, "and you can call me Rosa!"We sat down at the dining room table and talked. Mom wanted to know all about how we met and how I'd decided that Maxie was the one for me. I tried to leave out the unpleasant details in the middle of our story, and Maxie didn't correct me. Mom kinda knew about my casual dating life, and when I mentioned that part of the story, she said, "Ah, well, son, I should've known that's where you'd picked him up. Good thing you actually managed to meet someone nice for once!" Maxie blushed a bit at that. After we talked for awhile, Mom offered us a nice dinner full of homemade fajitas which Maxie, of course, ate carefully with a knife and fork. Mom kinda smirked at that, clearly amused, but mercifully didn't tease him over it. After we were stuffed, we sat on the couch and talked some more until it got dark out, and Mom offered us my old bedroom to sleep in. It seemed that since I'd left, she'd converted it into a guest bedroom, although it didn't look like it got used very often.Maxie settled down beside me on the small single-sized bed, and I snuggled up against him. "See, that wasn't so bad," I said to him."I suppose not..." he trailed off, "but I do hope she actually likes me and isn't just pretending."I humphed. "Of course she likes you! My mom does not pretend – she's a very honest person, and believe me, if she didn't like you, you'd know about it by now."Maxie was silent for a bit before finally saying, "Well, if you say so..." We turned out the lights after that and I drifted off to sleep.________________________________________________________
Maxie's POV:I was having trouble sleeping in this foreign environment, especially since the bed felt far too small to hold the both of us. Archie, however, didn't seem to be having any trouble because he was snoring happily next to me. Right in my ear, in fact, which wasn't helping me at all. I wiggled out of his grasp and got up, pacing around the small bedroom. Archie didn't wake at all, and I really envied his 'heavy sleeper' tendencies. I sat down in the armchair in the corner of the room, just trying to relax a bit.I couldn't stop worrying, though. I worried about our future, about whether this whole marriage thing was even a good idea, about whether Archie would continue to love me over the years, about what his mother truly thought of me... Despite not being particularly warm in here, it felt stuffy in this room and I yearned for a bit of fresh air. I was sleeping in nothing but boxers, so I grabbed a bathrobe from my bag and put it on before heading quietly out of the bedroom. I wandered out into the living room. It was dark now, but the moon shone brightly through the sliding glass doors. I opened them and slipped out onto the porch for a bit of fresh air. I sat down on the wicker loveseat and breathed in the ocean breeze. There was a beautiful view of the sea from here, and although I still felt a small tremor of fear when I studied that inky blackness, I felt safe enough from here to enjoy the view.I sat for a few minutes, just enjoying the soft breeze, when someone approached through the doorway. "Archie?" I questioned, but it turned out to be Miss Aquiles."Oh, hey, it's you," she whispered, "I was afraid it was a burglar for a second there." She closed the sliding glass doors behind her and sat down next to me on the loveseat. "What're you doing out here all alone in the middle of the night?" she asked."Oh, well," I replied, "I couldn't sleep. I have insomnia issues and sometimes I can't stop worrying long enough to actually fall asleep.""What're you worrying about?" she asked."Oh..." I felt a bit embarrassed to admit this, "I- well, your son has been very kind to me, and despite some missteps along the way, I've greatly enjoyed our time together. I really hope that...he'll stay with me, at least for awhile..." I hadn't actually properly explained what was bothering me, but I had a feeling she knew when she placed her hand over mine."Now, don't you worry," she reassured me, "Archie does love you – I can see it in his eyes. You guys are going to be together until you’re old and gray – mark my words!""Do you really think so?" I asked hesitantly, "I've got so many issues...plus I'm not as attractive as your son is, and I can't help but wonder why he'd ever want me..."She squeezed my hand. "Oh, sweetie, don't be silly," she soothed, "Archie loves you because you're a cute and wonderful person. I can tell that just by talking with you, even though you do seem to be rather shy... Also, don't think my Archie doesn't have his own issues, because I would know!" She finally removed her hand from mine, and I was glad she couldn't see the blush on my face. "By the way," she asked offhandedly, "when will I be meeting your parents? At the wedding, maybe?"I shifted slightly before answering, "Well...my parents are dead, so I guess you won't be meeting them.""Oh..." she said slowly, "Well, I'm sorry to hear that. I guess you've just got me now. I want you to know that you'll always be welcome in this house." She patted my hand reassuringly, and I thanked her, pulling her into a hug – an uncharacteristic display of affection for me when it came to people I didn't know very well. I slipped back to bed after that, and Archie barely stirred when I joined him. I didn't get much sleep that night, but I was feeling contented.A few weeks after visiting Archie's mother, we decided to call a joint meeting of Team Magma and Team Aqua. We had decided it would be best to officially disband our respective teams, and allow everyone to move on with their lives. A lot of people had already left, but for the few remaining, this seemed like the best thing to do. This meeting would be our last, and I'd use it to deliver one final speech explaining why it was time to abolish the teams.Archie and I stood behind a podium, but he was letting me speak first. "Hello, everyone," I greeted. They murmured their greetings in reply. Then I continued my speech:"As you know, I, Maxie, the leader of Team Magma, and Archie, the venerable leader of Team Aqua, have put aside our differences in order to live in peace with each other. I have personally seen the error of my ways, and I believe Archie feels the same. So, it has come to my attention that there is no longer a need for our respective organizations to exist, and thus we are jointly and officially disbanding Team Magma and Team Aqua. I want to thank you all for the loyalty and support that you've shown me over the years, and I wish you all well in your future endeavors."With that, Archie stepped up to the podium, pushing me aside slightly. He hooked an arm around my waist, pulling me close, and everyone in the audience looked a bit confused by this gesture. I couldn't help but smile a little – obviously most of them didn't know about our relationship. "Hey, yo everyone!" Archie yelled into the microphone, "We also have another announcement! Maxie and I are getting married, and you guys are all invited to the wedding, so come if you want!" Everyone looked shocked and confused, and one of my team members actually jerked and fell out of his chair from the surprise of this news. After about a minute, though, the crowd erupted in cheers and clapping. It was good to know that they supported us.We held the wedding ceremony outdoors, on the beach. It was a simple venue, and I didn't want anything fussy or expensive since we'd just put in an accepted offer on a duplex in the city. It was lucky for us that we'd found a duplex for sale, so now we wouldn't have the expense of building one. Of course, it had needed to be cleaned up a bit since it was previously rented to tenants, but the building was in overall good shape, and I felt positive about the purchase.Archie and I stood together in front of the large group of our friends and former employees as we exchanged simple vows. Neither of us was dressed up in tuxedos or anything, but I actually felt more comfortable this way. We kissed at the end of our exchange, as was customary, but Archie grabbed my ass during our -rather too extended- kiss. I smacked his hand away and the crowd laughed. Archie finally released me and everyone clapped and cheered. I spotted Archie's mom in the audience, and she seemed to be wiping tears out of her eyes from laughing too hard."Hey, guys," Archie called out, "Land and sea are joined at last, and I couldn't be happier!" The cheering from the crowd increased tenfold. After the wedding ceremony itself, we held a reception party at a nearby restaurant that we'd specially rented for the occasion. People kept coming up to our table to congratulate us, and I greeted everyone. Some of them expressed their shock at us getting together, but others merely claimed to have 'known all along,' but I highly doubted it. I looked around at the faces of our guests, and everyone was smiling and laughing...it was good to see our groups getting along so well after all this time. I even noticed Matt standing off in the corner of the room, talking to Gym Leader Wallace. I didn't know what that guy was actually doing here, as I didn't remember inviting him at all, but I gaped at what happened next. Matt had started to leave the area but Wallace actually smacked him on the ass as he was turning to go. Much to my shock, instead of getting angry, Matt grabbed Wallace and pulled him into a kiss. They broke apart and both started giggling uncontrollably. What the hell was that all about?! I tugged on Archie's shirt sleeve to get his attention and see if he'd noticed this weird little exchange, but he just smiled at me and shook his head. Well, it wasn't any of my business, so I'd leave well enough alone...After the party was over, we headed back to our new house. I was feeling exhausted, and sadly, we'd just barely started to move in, so everything was in disarray. Archie's side was more complete than mine, since his apartment lease was ending within the next month and he'd moved all of his things here already. My side was nearly empty since I still had a couple months left on my lease, and I had been moving things more slowly as a result. I had only really managed to move my rock collection over so far, with my beloved raw ruby taking pride of place. Because my side of the house was so empty, we decided to spend the night on Archie's side. We'd actually painted the right side door (mine) red and Archie's door blue – I thought it was a rather cute delineation.Archie opened up his blue door and ushered me inside. There were still boxes piled up everywhere, and the only things that were really properly unpacked were the bathroom essentials, just enough kitchen items to get by, and the bed and nightstand which were currently occupying a rather empty bedroom. I pulled my clothes off and piled them carefully in the corner (there was nowhere else to put them), intent on taking a shower. Archie stripped his clothes off, too, and I imagined that he wanted to join me, but it seemed that he had other ideas as he guided me over to the bed."Come on now," he said seductively, "It's our wedding night, and we need to do this right.""Archie," I protested, "You've already had sex with me plenty of times before. Besides, aren't you tired?"He smiled at me and said "Nope!" as he pinned me down on the messy bed. He kissed me before heading lower, licking at my nipples as he went. This made me giggle and squirm under his touch, but I froze once he lowered his mouth over my length. "Aahh...." I sighed as he sucked me, bobbing his head up and down. "Ahh, Archie why are you so...?""So what?" he asked as he removed himself from my length. "So sweet to me," I finished."Because I love you," he answered simply. He dipped down to continue his work, but I wiggled out from under him."It's my turn, Archie," I said as I gently pushed him down. He took the hint and laid down on his back for me. I nestled between his legs and took his length into my mouth. It was rather large, and I couldn't fit very much of it, but I did my best. Archie moaned and fisted the sheets so I must have been doing well enough. Eventually, he touched my shoulder to let me know that he'd had enough. I inched up over him, straddling his waist."Do you mind if I ride you?" I asked."Not at all," he replied, "in fact that sounds awesome." I smiled at him and fished out a condom and some lube from the nightstand. Truthfully, now that we were fully committed, we probably didn't need the condom anymore, but I felt it was just more hygienic. Thankfully, Archie didn't seem to mind. I slipped it on him and lubed him up considerably. He seemed to be watching me intently as I slid myself slowly down his member. He groaned softly once I was fully seated. He placed his hand on my hips, but didn't attempt to make me move – they were just placed. Once I began a nice, steady rhythm, he moaned out softly, and a few sounds escaped my lips as well. As my pace increased he used one of his hands to stroke my length while I bounced happily on his. All too soon, we were crying out in our release. I slept soundly that night, almost all the way through.________________________________________________________
Archie's POV:Maxie managed to move the rest of his stuff into his side of the house within the next couple weeks, and of course, he arranged it just so. I managed to get my stuff unpacked and arranged into a semblance of normal, for me anyways. Our life together was settling into a comfortable rhythm.Of course, people who didn't know us too well, and a few people who did know us, were always surprised to see that we were living in separate spaces. We got a lot of questions about whether we were separated or getting a divorce, or whether or relationship was going badly, but we always tried our best to explain our unique arrangement. Some of them accepted it immediately, while some of them still thought it was odd, but for the most part, people were very understanding. Our friends, especially Maxie's friends, understood and didn't make a fuss over it. As for me, well, I'm pretty darn happy with our chosen lifestyle. This morning, I'd promised someone a breakfast visit. I stepped outside my door out onto the porch, knocking at Maxie's red door. I waited patiently until the door opened up to my beloved husband, who was dressed as he always was except for a small pink apron."Well, hello sir," I said in a jovial tone, "Do you mind if I come and visit you this morning?" Maxie smiled at me."Of course not," he replied, "Come on in – I'd be delighted."__________________________________________________The end!
