A groan echoed through the room. It belonged to Angela who had just regained conciseness. She tried to rub her eyes only to realize she was restricted by a pair of metal hand cuffs. She looked around and saw less of a room and more of a cell. She was sat on the grey stone floor surrounded by equally boring walls. One solitary light bulb shined above her providing a dim but acceptable amount of light to know what she was doing. On the opposite side of room there was a large metal door with a small hatch that was sealed shut. Apart from that there was one more thing in the room, a single rusted bucket in the corner which she’d guessed was her toilet for the time being.
Much to her surprise she was clean and somewhat clothed. A tight white Shirt clung to her body. It was obviously a size or two too small for her and the person who clothed her knew that. On her lower half she wore a simple pair of white panties and plain black shorts. This was clothing she was not use to and actually come to think of it someone would have had to clean her and clothe her while she was unconscious. The thought of this made her cringe but she tried to push the idea from her head. Instead she focused on trying to find out where the hell she was and to escape this grim situation she found herself in.
Her mind went back to before she passed out and she cursed under her breath. She remembered how she gave in to the people who broke into her house. She remembered getting fucked and thrown around like a ragdoll. The more she remembered the more she wanted to cry as the reality of the position hadn’t fully hit her yet. Finally she remembered the man who raped her, and how he hadn’t he even finished pulling up his pants before his brains were scattered in all directions. She remembered the voice of the man who did it. It was a voice she hadn’t heard in over ten years. The voice belonged to the once revered commander of the now disgraced task force known as OverWatch. That man’s name was Gabriel Reyes. Angela was shocked and didn’t know what to think because she was convinced he died in the massive explosion that destroyed the main OverWatch HQ.
As she thought back, she also remembered losing another very close friend. Jack Morrison, The former Strike Commander of the OverWatch Task Force. As the head of medical research she was very familiar with both men and cried for days after the incident. After OverWatch was closed down and all its members were scattered or hunted by various governments in an attempt to cover up its failure, Angela managed to work in an American hospital for her abundance of contributions to medical research and high standing in OverWatch. She had always gotten hate for being part of it but it didn’t deter her from saving as many lives as possible. She would of never of imagined that people hated her that much to do something like this.
That’s when she remembered Gabriel’s voice. Was it really him? How did he survive the explosion? Why did he do this to her? How long had he kept her here? So many questions ran through Angela’s mind when she heard what sounded like quiet footsteps from outside the door. As they got closer she realized it was two people’s footsteps and hurriedly stood up. Her legs were so weak that they gave way as soon as she tried. She could do nothing but sit and wait for her captors. The footsteps stopped directly behind the door. There was a small inaudible murmuring between two voices that was drowned out by the loud clinking of keys. The door opened slowly to reveal a sight that nearly gave Angela a heart attack. It was the two men who broke into her house and assaulted her. They stood there looking at her with blank expressions on their faces as if the three had never met.
“No, No, No!” Angela tried to scurry backwards but was halted by the cold stone which she was now pressed up against, terrified. The two men stared at her as she flailed against the wall like a rat trying to leave a sinking ship. A hail of insults and screams were directed towards the men who seemed to have no reaction at all. Angela finally ran out of energy and slumped to the floor having debased herself of some hatred for the two men.
“Well? What the Fuck do you want?”
“You will come with us. Now!” The boss said in a very dull monotone voice.
Angela scoffed. “What, so you can rag me around again? So you can use me like an object. How about you go fuck yourself.”
The boss sighed and walked into her cell with a very silent Benny. Again Angela squirmed on the floor but knew she couldn’t go anywhere. Both men picked her up by her arms with surprising gentleness and ease. At first Angela was scared and tried to struggle out of their grip but stop resisting as both men seemed totally uninterested in her. She was very confused as she had vivid memories of both men being very sexually aggressive in her presence. What made them so tame? Yet another question bugged her as she was half carriedhalf dragged out of her dim little cell and into a slim corridor with a door at each end. There seemed to be cells like hers spanning both sides of the long passage. Both men neither talked nor looked at Angela as they dragged her to one of the doors.
“Where are you talking me?” She questioned in a restless tone.
Both men ignored the doctor as the door was opened. Behind the door was a set of large stairs. The trio silently journeyed up the long flight of stairs which made Angela aware of how fast and hard her heart was beating. Her hearing and sight also seemed somehow enhanced while she observed her surroundings. She was used to being in threatening situations and didn’t see how this one was any different. She scratched it up to being thirsty and hungry not knowing a peculiar substance coursed through her veins.
As the three reached the top of the stairs a large door guarded by two similarly dressed men. Both of the men also cradled assault rifles in their arms and clutched them as they saw the group come into view. They relaxed when they recognised Benny and the boss. Neither party said anything as the one of the guards input a code into a number pad while the other looked Angela up and down.
“What are you looking at?” Angela snapped at the soldier. His eyes darted forward as his comrade turned round and smacked him in the back of the head. For some reason people were scared to interact with her. If she was honest she wasn’t complaining about it as she was happy no guys had tried to grope her yet. Remembering that information could be important so she made a mental note and prepared herself for what was beyond the door.
With a quiet zip the door opened to reveal a pure white room made of some sort of shiny metal. It contained nothing but a door opposite the one she entered as well as a mirror that covered a large portion of one of the walls. Angela was dragged inside the room and was carefully placed on the floor. Both men stood to attention as the door on the other side of the room opened. A smoky black figure appeared in the doorway as if the grim reaper himself had shown up to greet them. The figure slowly entered room revealing his menacing attire. Black leather and other dark fabrics made up the majority of the armour while his face was shrouded by a haunting white skull mask. There was an aura created by him that made your heart stop beating and blood run cold.
Both benny and the boss had not moved an inch from their salutes, obviously frozen by fear. Angela looked at this demon in front of her and was just was scared as the two men.
“Good afternoon Angela.” Boomed the coarse and gravelly voice that made Angela’s hairs stand on end. It really is him. It really was Gabriel Reyes but how was this possible?
“Gabriel, I thought you were dead.”
“I am.” Reyes said coldly.
Angela didn’t know how to respond to that so instead asked.
“Why am I here, what is going on Gabriel?”
“Times change, that’s what. I am sorry about these two imbicles and how they handled their last mission.” Reyes gestured towards the statue like men behind Angela.
“They got far too carried away when I sent them to see you.”
Angela frowned. “You did this to me? Why Gabriel?! We were friends.”
“It won’t happen again I assure you.” Without moving a muscle Reyes raised both men off their feet like an invisible man was deadlifting the two of them. Both gasped and spluttered as blood started to drain out of every orifice of their face. Angela watched in horror as both men were slowly suffocated in their own blood while there organs churned from the inside. Both begged through their wet, gargled coughing to be spared only to have blood gush faster from their mouth and nose. While trying to edge away from the floating blood fountains, Angela noticed the crimson liquid didn’t stain the floor or the walls. Instead the material seemed to absorb the blood and vanish without a trace.
Once both corpse had stopped twitching and were almost white from blood loss they fell to the ground with a wet thud. Reyes had been completely still for the whole thing and audibly inhaled once the bodies hit the ground. The dead men’s twisted faces terrifed Angela. As a doctor and a battle medic at that, she had never seen anything like that in all of her life. Two men drained of life in a matter of minutes with no visible force used. She wanted to be dreaming and for this to be a nightmare to wake up from. But Reyes voice snapped her back into reality.
“Now then doctor, on to business.” He said casually
Angela looked at Reyes with disappointment. “What happened to you Gabriel, what have you become.”
“I’ve become my true self. Death. Suffering. Misery. All of these things are what Overwatch gave me. Now I want to give back. I’m looking for our old friend Jack. He’s who I really want. And you’re going to tell me where he is.”
Angela was confused as she believed both Gabriel and Jack had died all those years ago. But seeing as Reyes was alive she had hope Jack was to.
“I… I thought he was dead.” She replied in a surprised tone.
Reyes let out a loud growl.
“Don’t play stupid with me Angela. I know you two were lovers. I know how much you cared for each other. If anyone out of the old team should know where he is, it would be you.”
Angela didn’t want to anger her old colleague but she didn’t know where Jack was even if he truly was alive.
“I’m sorry Gabriel, I don’t know where he is. Just please let me go you don’t have to do this.”
Reyes sighed “Looks like I’ll have to ask the rest of the team then. Maybe they will be more use to me than you are.” He walked closer to Angela and whispered to her.
“Tell me at any time if you remember anything. Not just for your sake. As a doctor I assume you’ll want to make this as painless as possible for them.”
With that, Reyes walked out of the room leaving Angela and the corpses in complete silence. A rush of emotions swirled in Angela’s head. Jacks possible survival, her condition and her kidnapping all gave her more questions than answers. However before she could think about anything else a noise caught her attention. It was coming from the mirror on the opposite side of the room. She couldn’t quite make out what it was but it sounded like muffled shouting. She slowly got to her feet and just as slowly walked over to the mirror. She could now hear the voice much clearer and recognised it instantly. As she reached the mirror it changed from a reflective surface to a transparent one and revealed a horrifying sight. The shouting was coming from a person Angela knew all too well. It belonged to Korea’s premier mech and IT specialist and ex-Overwatch member, Hana Song or as more publicly known as D: Va. She was in a similar room to Angela’s and was just as she remembered her. Long flowing brown hair down her small, compact frame and a fiery spirit. By all means she looked harmless but was trained in various forms of martial arts that she learnt long before joining Overwatch. Angela had seen her restrain men double her size and not even break a sweat.
The door to Hana’s room opened and 3 men walked in. All 3 lined up in front of her, arms to their side and stared at her. As if waiting for orders Reyes’ growl filled the other room.
“You four have been called here personally by me as a last chance for countless crimes across the world. All of you would never have seen the outside of a jail cell if it wasn’t for me and now I’m giving you a chance to be truly free.”
Both Angela and Hana knew the men as the three most dangerous criminals to ever walk the planet. Criminals that they were both responsible for putting away and making sure their lives were over.
“In front of you is your chance at freedom as well as an incentive for the job to be done right. I’m sure you all know Miss Song, who up till now has been very uncooperative with my questioning. I am looking for the person chiefly responsible for your respective downfalls. Jack Morrison.”
One of the men spat at the ground in utterance of Jacks name. It was an understatement to say that they still hated Overwatch for what they did to them.
“I am offering a fresh start to any and all of you in exchange for information about Jack or any other Overwatch members. I am also offering a taste of revenge.”
All three men looked at each other and mumbled about not having any knowledge of any of the Overwatch personnel. They then turned their attention to Hana who just stood there and tried to stop herself from shaking or showing weakness.
“The only two conditions are she must be able to speak afterwards and must NOT be killed. Other than that, enjoy.”
That bestial lust that Angela had seen after her time with the now rotting corpses across the room was in the eyes of these three men. But this time they weren’t driven by desire. Instead it was pure hatred that she saw flickering behind those eyes, the likes of which she hadn’t seen before.
