Samus had just received word of who her and Luigi's next opponents were: Greninja and Bowser Jr. "This match should be a breeze, I'll go let Luigi know."
She found Luigi training against Bowser, and waited for them to finish their match. Luigi was up a stock but he was badly wounded at 130%, Bowser on the other hand has only taken 15%. Bowser landed a command grab and body slammed Luigi for the kill.
Luigi respawned, and landed a neutral air into a grab, threw Bowser downwards, landed a down air, a neutral air, then jumped up and did another down air, then an up air, and then landed a Super Jump Punch for the kill. He was surprised he managed to pull that off, even with how much he had been practicing it. Bowser and Luigi met up in the spectator box, and Bowser was feeling an odd mix of being both frustrated and proud of Luigi for his progress as a fighter.
"Where the hell did you learn that combo from? I've never seen anything like it, and boy did it hurt!" Bowser asked, still in shock that he was killed from a grab at 27%. (neutral air does 12%)
"This is gonna sound really funny, but it came to me in a dream. I had to change around the last 2 moves in the combo for it to be as good as it is now, but the down air to neutral air to down air portion was all from a dream. Then I practiced on a sandbag and realized that up air to Super Jump Punch was a very powerful continuation to that string. I couldn't believe it actually turned into a kill from... what was it 27% when I grabbed you?" Luigi replied.
"Yes... 27. Anyways, a dream? Sounds fishy, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt." Bowser commented, now realizing just how dangerous Luigi has become.
"Hey boys! That was an amazing finish to that match Luigi!" Samus yelled from across the room. "Are you just gonna take that Bowser? He beat you pretty good, I'd think you'd want a rematch."
"Eh, another day. He's earned a break as far as I'm concerned." Bowser replied, being oddly generous for the antagonist of the mushroom kingdom.
"Thanks Bowser, I need to practice for this teams tournament anyways, but I appreciate the 1 on 1 practice as well. See you around!" Luigi said, eager to speak with Samus.
"See ya, greenie." Bowser said as he walked away.
"So, I saw how you ended that match, that was impressive! I don't look forward to having 1 on 1 competition with you any time soon with that in your arsenal." Samus said to Luigi.
Luigi blushed at this comment. "Thanks... I still can't believe it came to me in a dream."
"I heard you talking about that with Bowser, I don't believe it but I won't argue with you over it. So, do you want to know who our opponents are for the next round in the teams tournament?" Samus commented.
"Yea sure, who did we get?"
Samus couldn't help but chuckle before telling Luigi. "Greninja, and... Bowser Jr. This round should be easy, Bowser Jr. should be a giant handicap for Greninja with our offstage presence, and then 2 vs 1 is easy. Just don't focus on Bowser Jr. too much, because Greninja is a formidable opponent, and he could very easily start punishing us for that." Samus explained, still grinning about how easy she expected this fight to be.
"Sounds good, knowing we have an easy round 2 is a relief." Luigi replied.
The match was just about to start, the stage is battlefield, the announcer gave the countdown, and then Greninja rushed at Luigi with a forward air. He comboed this into a down tilt and 3 up airs, leaving Luigi at 50%. As this was happening, Bowser Jr. was trying to set up his mechakoopas to use against Samus, but Samus grabbed the mechakoopa and threw it back at Bowser Jr. He shielded it in time, but that's what Samus wanted. She landed a grab, into her signature up air strings. She ended the combo with a forward air, which left Bowser Jr. offstage.
Luigi was able to land, and got some jabs in on Greninja, which Samus was able to follow up on. Samus got a grab on Greninja, and gave him the same treatment as Bowser Jr. As Samus was comboing Greninja, Luigi chased Bowser Jr. offstage and got the kill. Greninja was able to Shadow Sneak (side special) out of Samus's combo, and got in a neutral air, leaving Luigi at 50%, Samus at 12%, Greninja at 30%, and Bowser Jr. at 0%, but down a stock.
As Luigi was coming back to the stage after killing Bowser Jr, Greninja was able to sneak in a Water Shuriken, which put Luigi back offstage, which allowed Bowser Jr. to sneak in a back air, leaving Luigi at 70%. Samus tried to get a Forward Smash on Greninja as he was shooting his Water Shuriken, but Greninja was able to sidestep it and punish Samus with a series of jabs. Bowser Jr. caught Samus with a mechakoopa and a forward air, leaving her at 52%. Luigi caught Greninja's jabs with some of his own, and comboed that into a grab into his new combo, for a kill.
The score was now Luigi and Samus with 2 stocks each, at 70% and 52%, to Greninja and Bowser Jr. with 1 stock and 0% each. Greninja respawned and landed an up smash on Luigi while he was still invincible, catching Luigi off guard. Bowser Jr. ejected out of his clown car and hit Luigi with his stronger version of back air, and this was enough to get the kill on Luigi. However, this gave Samus an opening on Bowser Jr, which allowed her to get an extremely early kill after an up air into a Boost Kick, leaving Samus and Luigi at a huge advantage. Samus took 1% of magnifying glass damage, and was left vulnerable for a punish from Greninja. Greninja managed to get an up tilt, into a footstool, into a Water Shuriken for a jab reset, into a fully charged up smash, just barely getting the kill on Samus.
Luigi respawned from his Star KO, and waited for Samus to respawn from her Star KO. Luigi landed a grab while he was invincible, threw Greninja backwards towards Samus, then Samus landed an up smash, and Luigi got 2 up airs, then Samus was able to get another Boost Kick. Greninja barely survived, but then Samus landed a grab as Greninja landed and Luigi just walked up and Super Jump Punched Greninja without needing Samus to do a throw.
They had a very brief celebration for their expected result, and awaited for the rest of Round 2 to finish.
