Kid and Libitina sat by one another's sides for a while longer before they heard the front door to the safehouse open up. A few footsteps sounded out as someone walked around the corner of the safehouse. Kid and Libitina looked over, Libitina quickly scooching down about a foot away from Kid. They both saw Dawn just as she came around the corner of the house. She smiled. "There you guys are. Kid, I'm done talking with Stitch and Ice..." Kid smiled a little. "...And?" Kid asked. Libitina was trying not to smile as she said "And...It was easy to notice...I was curious." She ended up smiling after her words, saying "It was poking right up into the sheets, like, damn, it's gotta be as hard as rock!...Got me pretty hard just lookin' at it..." She said carelessly. "C'mon Kid, let's eat." Stitch said with a smile. Kid smiled back at him, taking a seat at the spot Dawn had readied for him. At Kid's plate, she set a Cherry Nuka-Cola, something that caused Kid to grin. At Libitina's plate, she set down a bottle of Dazzling Blue Nuka-Cola. Stitch wanted some sort of alcohol, so Dawn got him a bottle of booze. Ice was fine with just a glass of water like Dawn herself was having, Dawn heading off to the bathroom to get a purified cup's worth.
Just as she was about to knock on the door, Libitina opened it up, seeming surprised to spot Dawn there. Her face was flustered as she said "Um, h-how long were you there for, exactly?" Dawn raised an eyebrow curiously, saying "I just got here, get out of the way, I need a glass of water for Ice." Libitina hastily got out of Dawn's way without another word, quickly rushing over to the kitchen table. Taking a seat at her spot to Kid's left, she let out a soft sigh, saying "Mmm, looks great!" Dawn came back a moment later, handing Ice the glass of water she had gotten. The group began to eat then, chatting with one another happily. When Kid was about half-way finished his food, Dawn got up from the table to get herself another glass of water, as she had already finished hers. As she walked away from the table, Kid suddenly felt a hand subtly come over and firmly plant itself over his crotch. His eyes went a little wide and he twitched slightly, but he tried not to react any further than that. He glanced over to Libitina from the corners of his eyes. She was smiling naughtily, looking back over to him from the corners of her own eyes.
She rubbed her hand along him for a moment. Kid wasn't as stiff as he was when he had first woken up, but he was still pretty hard. Libitina noticed this, and it only seemed to make her smile stronger. She pulled her hand away from him after a moment and, in an attempt to steady himself, Kid took a huge gulp from his bottle of fizzy soda. It was fortuitous for her that she had pulled her hand away when she did, for if she had touched Kid for a second longer, he would've swatted her hand away from him and left a stinging sensation over her digits. When Dawn came back to the table, it didn't really take everybody long to finish up their food. When they were all finished, Dawn said, mostly to Ice and Stitch, "Okay, so, here's the plan. I'll take Kid and Libby down to see Dom, and while I'm doing that, you guys can pack anything up from around here that you want. When we get back, we'll grab you two and make our way back to New Reno to check things out. If things are still shitty, we'll come back here. If things are clear, the first thing I'm doing is checking out the Golden Globes studio to see if my room is messed up. Then, we can try to find Ronald, if he's even there. And after that, we can look for some sort of sign as to what happened to Keith and the other Wrights. Sound good?"
Everyone nodded. Dawn smiled. "Alright. I'm going to change into my armour and grab my guns from the room upstairs, Kid and Libby, you guys can wait by the car, I'll just be a minute." Kid and Libitina both nodded, the both of them getting up and heading for the front door of the safehouse. Heading out into the bright morning light, they walked over to the nearby Highwayman. The both of them taking a seat up on the hood of the vehicle, they waited for Dawn in silence for several seconds. Eventually, Libitina broke the silence by saying "You didn't jack off, did you? You were still hard when I felt you." Kid made a bit of an annoyed face before relaxing, simply shaking his head. Libitina playfully nudged him with an elbow, enthusiastically saying "It's not good to ignore what your body wants, Kid! You gotta let it out!" Libitina made a philosophical face for a moment before saying "Although, I could see how it'd be more fun to have Dawn helping you out. Plan on asking her for "assistance," later?"
Kid made another annoyed face before saying "You're so perverted, Libby." Libitina's face went a little surprised for a moment before she relaxed. She seemed fairly effected by Kid's words. Her eyes were almost apologetic, her mouth hanging open just slightly, barely more than a crack. She was quiet for a second before saying "Kid, I'm sorry, I just-" Dawn suddenly walked out into the sunlight, fully dressed in her black armour, even wearing her helmet. "Let's go." She said coolly to them. Libitina let out a soft sigh before closing her mouth. "Whatever." She said a little quietly, raising her eyebrows a little, glancing towards the ground. Kid heard her word, sensing her reaction, but he didn't think much of it. Getting in the front passenger seat, Dawn tossed her weapons in the backseat before getting in the driver's seat, Libitina getting in the backseat then. Dawn quickly started the car up, pulling away from the safehouse, driving deeper into Rister.
It didn't take long for the three to reach the building the reavers Dominique was with were occupying. Wearing her helmet to help her see in the relative darkness of the building's first floor, the three of them made their way deeper into the building. It didn't take them long to be approached by a few reavers, the reavers leading them up into the second floor of the building. "This place is kind of creepy..." Libitina whispered to Kid at one point. Kid simply nodded lightly in agreement. Making their way into the second floor, they walked through a few rooms, being watched by curious reavers. Eventually, they were led into a small room by the back of the building. The room was lit up by several opened windows on the far side of the room. Several reavers were in the room, some chatting with one another, some quietly off by themselves, seemingly praying. Every reaver that wasn't praying glanced over to the three newcomers. "Hey, Kid!" The three of them heard Dominique say cheerfully.
Kid glanced over in the voice's direction, smiling happily. A moment later, Dominique had reached him, having been rushing over. She grabbed him in a hug, Kid hugging her back. They shut their eyes as they hugged, their chins resting on each other's shoulders, Dominique grinning happily. They hugged for a few moments before they released each other. Dominique suddenly stepped over to Libitina, grabbing her in a hug, as well. "How have you been, Libby?" She asked. Libitina seemed pleasantly surprised by the hug. "Oh, I've been good, thank you. How have you been?" As they released each other, Dominique cheerfully said "I've been okay, thanks for asking." She stepped over to Dawn, hugging her, as well. "And you, Beautiful One?" She asked. Dawn hugged Dominique back a little, saying "I've been fine, thanks." As they released each other, Dominique looked to Kid, saying "I want to show you guys something, come with me!" She waved for Kid and the rest to follow, happily skipping off towards the doorway to the room.
Everyone followed after her, heading through a couple of hallways before heading through the large room they had gone through during their last visit, the large room still filled with reavers. Dominique led them through it and towards the workshop that she had been in the last time they saw her. When she entered the workshop, Dawn pulled off her helmet, holding it under her right arm. Walking over to a nearby worktable, Dominique grabbed some sort of laser pistol. She smiled at them, holding it up. "Remember the laser pistol I was working on yesterday? Well, this is it!" The three of them noticed right away that the white frame of the laser pistol had been painted black with loving care. A small gray attachment of sorts had been placed on the right side of the pistol's barrel, right at the end. Dominique spoke with pride, a smile on her face. "I tuned it up and gave it a new field targeting system, the laser emission is much tighter, so it can penetrate much tougher substances than regular laser pistols. Check it out!"
Dominique suddenly whipped her arm to the side, squeezing the trigger of her pistol. A bright flash of red briefly illuminated the room as a short beam of some sort of coherent light flew from the end of the pistol, zooming out and striking a nearby metal locker. A hole, slightly smaller than a clenched fist, suddenly appeared in the front of the locker, going all the way through it. A short ring around the hole was so hot that it was a slight shade of red. Dominique was grinning as she walked over to the locker. Dawn raised her eyebrows in a bit of surprise. Dominique said a few words in French before saying "It punched all the way through and even ashed a little bit of the wall, a normal laser pistol only would've gotten through about half of the locker! Impressive, hmm?" Libitina put her hands on her hips, sort of dismissively saying "I prefer regular guns or a set of claws." Kid, on the other hand, was smiling. He, at least, was impressed. Dominique walked back over to the worktable, resting the pistol down on it.
Her grin slowly faded as she said "It's going to help in case the rumours are true. There's talk that some anti-reavers might be coming to Rister, just so they can try and mess with us. I'm not going to simply stand by if they do." She spoke her words calmly, as if the situation wouldn't be a problem if it arose, but on the other hand she wasn't being cocky, she seemed to understand the possible gravity of the situation. Dawn's mouth hung open slightly as she looked to the ground. A second later, she said "Well...If there's going to be trouble...Maybe you could do something with this?..." Dawn began to reach into a pocket on her trenchcoat, saying "I was planning on perhaps selling it, but you might be able to put it to good use. I'm not going to use it, I prefer my Gauss rifle, and I don't think any of the others know how to handle energy weapons properly." Dominique glanced at Kid, looking to Dawn curiously. Dawn pulled out the plasma pistol she had found in Horus' room at Rister's pub, smiling a little as she held it out to Dominique.
Dominique's eyes lit up, Dawn smiling a little more at her reaction. Dominique said a few astonished words in French before saying "I-Is that a Plasma Defender?! O-Oh my...!" Dominique stepped closer to Dawn and took the pistol, thanking Dawn profusely as she did so. Everyone watched with amused faces as Dominique scanned the pistol, speaking hushed words of almost reverence to herself. She stepped over to the worktable, grabbing a small object from a corner of it. Dawn recognized it instantly as a small energy cell. Dominique giggled to herself as she loaded the cell into the pistol. It let out a soft hum for a moment as the small light on the side of it's frame began letting off a green light. She pointed the pistol off to the side, towards the locker she had shot with her customized laser pistol. Squeezing the trigger, a green flash illuminated solely Dominique, but only for a moment. A green superheated bolt of some sort of glowing substance shot out on the air, flying towards the locker.
Once it hit it, part of the locker was instantly reduced to a sort of green liquid that splashed to the ground, soft smoke slowly rising from it as it lay on the floor. A good fifth of the tall locker had been melted away, and the edges remaining from where it had been melted were glowing green, slowly disintegrating. Dominique let out another giggle, practically doing a hop of joy. She exclaimed a few words in French before rushing towards Dawn, grabbing her in a tight hug. Dominique began to thank Dawn again, Dawn hugging Dominique back slightly, not being able to hide the amusement in her voice. "Relax Dom, it's just a pistol, don't wet yourself or anything, heh." Dominique released Dawn a few seconds later, still smiling happily as she brought the pistol over to the worktable. Resting it down on the table, she said "This will certainly help should anybody try to hurt us, not much can stop plasma technology, not even Power Armour! Even just a pistol could melt through combat armour! I can't thank you enough, Dawn!" Dawn smiled a little, pleased that Dominique was happy about the weapon. Kid was enjoying the sight of Dominique being happy.
Libitina couldn't hide it, either; Dominique's joy was infectious, even Libitina had a smile on her face. Dominique let out a happy sigh, still smiling a little as she said "I could probably modify it in some way, like the laser pistol. The technology's different though, so I won't be able to do the exact same tune-ups, probably. I'll see what I can do though. Thank you again." Dawn held back a laugh as she said "Okay, enough with the thanking, I get it. I'm glad you'll make good use of it." Everyone went silent for a couple of seconds before Dominique, almost shyly, said "Kid, I, um...I've got something for you." Kid raised his eyebrows slightly, looking to her eyes. Dominique slowly reached under her worktable, pulling something out. It looked like some sort of necklace made of black rubber computer wiring, small square silvery pieces hanging from the front of it. "Are those computer keys?" Dawn asked curiously. Dominique nodded slightly, her eyes looking a little shy. The wiring was knotted at the top, and the loop it formed looked big enough for Kid to simply slip on past his head.
Dominique stepped closer to Kid, holding the necklace in her hands. "See?..." She murmured, holding the item in such a way that he could see what the computer keys spelled out. Reading from the left to the right was the message "DOM+KID". Kid smiled, blushing a little. The gesture was so sweet, he wasn't really sure what to say. "Th-Thank you..." He simply mumbled. Dominique smiled more, raising her hands, bringing the necklace down around Kid's head and neck. The computer keys resting against his chest, Dominique said, with a bit of embarrassment, "...So, you know, you don't forget me...I've got another one just like it, I'll be wearing it after you leave..." Kid smiled gratefully at her, but he was still at a loss for words. Dominique held her hands over her stomach, sort of playing with the fingers on her hands for a few seconds. The two of them were silent during that time, simply gazing into one another's eyes. Dawn and Libitina watched them curiously. Suddenly, Dominique suddenly reached her arms out, shutting her eyes. Bringing her arms around his neck quickly, she brought herself closer to him, hugging him tight. Kid reached his arms around her waist, resting his hands against the small of her back, hugging her back just as tightly.
Her mouth against his shoulder, her words were a little muffled as she said "Holy One, I'm going to miss you!...Please be careful out there..." Dominique's soft hair touching the side of his face, Kid gently said "I'll be careful...I'm going to miss you, too...I'll try to come and visit some time soon..." Dominique discretely pressed a kiss to the side of Kid's neck as she brought her chin up to his shoulder. "I'll be here...I'll be thinking about you..." The two hugged one another in silence for a few more seconds before slowly releasing each other. They looked into one another's eyes for another second, the both of them smiling. Dominique looked to Libitina, stepping over to her, grabbing her in a hug, too. "And you too, Libby...Be careful, hmm?...I hate hearing about friends dying..." Libitina smiled slightly, rolling her eyes a little, holding back a chuckle. "I'll be fine, thanks." She said a little softly. The two released each other a second later. Dominique stepped over to Dawn, smiling happily as she knowingly said "I don't think I have to tell you to be careful. But can I ask a favour of you, please?"
Dawn raised an eyebrow slightly. "Depends on what it is." She said. Dominique glanced at Kid for a moment before saying "Please...Make sure he's okay." Kid blushed a little, feeling embarrassed that he was being spoken of while he was still present. Dawn glanced at Kid for a moment like Dominique had, softly saying "I give you my word. I don't do that often, because my word is the same as my honour. I don't break it for anyone." Dominique did almost a sort of short bow, smiling gratefully. A moment later, she grabbed Dawn in a hug, closing her eyes and smiling a little more strongly. Dawn smiled a little, hugging Dominique back for a moment before the two released each other. Dawn looked to Kid and Libitina. "Well, it's about time we got going. New Reno isn't going to come to us. Let's go, you two." Kid and Libitina nodded in understanding. Dawn pulling her helmet on, she headed for the doorway to the room as Kid and Libitina said their final goodbyes, smiling and waving to Dominique, Dominique doing the same in return, murmuring gentle farewells in French.
She teared up a little as Kid walked through the doorway, but she only let out a soft sniffle, refusing to let her tears run down her cheeks. Heading back out to the Highwayman, the three of them were more or less silent. As they drove back to the safehouse, the only one to speak was Kid, and the only thing he said was a soft "I'm really going to miss her..." When they reached the safehouse, Stitch and Ice were already ready. They had packed up not only the spare clothes Dawn had gotten for everyone, but also any food and drinks that they had put around the house. Bottling up all of the fresh water that their purifier had produced, they put it all as well as the purifier itself in the spacious trunk of the Highwayman. Nothing left behind, the two of them got in the back of the Highwayman with Libitina, Dawn quickly pulling away and zooming off into the wasteland's horizon.
Their next stop: New Reno.
