"After driving for a day, we ran into a large group of wanamingos, there had to be at least six or seven of them. Although the creatures are really dangerous, and I have scars on my left hand from my first time fighting them, I really wanted to try out my gun. Libitina wanted to try her's out, too. The wanamingos kept charging at us with amazing speed, but Dawn got the Highwayman a good distance away from them and sniped four of them. She drove away from the wanamingos again, and let Libby and I try out our guns. The .223 pistol has some tough recoil, but holy shit, I didn't expect it to have so much power! I shot one of the wanamingos and actually tore off it's right arm-tentacle thing. I shot at it two more times, hitting it in it's face, and I blew these big holes in it...It fell over, but it wasn't dead. I shot it again, and then it finally died.
Libby's gun had a burst mode to it that she wanted to try out, and it absolutely tore one of the wanamingos apart. I don't know just how many shots it fired, but she had only pulled the trigger for a second or two and the wanamingo had been practically torn in half. It's mouth was split open, and it's jaw was torn off. The bullets went past it's jaw and cut the wanamingo's legs off, and as it fell, more bullets must've came out, because the wanamingo's back exploded with blood. Libitina was just as shocked as I was, but she turned all giddy pretty quickly, she was excited about having such a strong gun. When the last wanamingo started bearing down on us, Libitina turned her gun to it's single shot mode, and we faced the wanamingo together.
We shot at the wanamingo's front at the same time, and the both of us hit it in the face. My gun was out of ammo then; it can only hold five bullets. Libitina shot the wanamingo a few more times until she was sure it was dead. When we got in the Highwayman, we couldn't help but talk excitedly to Dawn and to each other about our guns. Dawn just listened to us with a smile, telling us to grab some ammo from the bag in the backseat and reload our guns. I can write this with certainty; I'm not going to be afraid of any wasteland creature ever again, not now that I have this gun!"
The three of them had been driving for a day and a half when they suddenly saw a group on the horizon. They looked armed and armoured, there being about five to their group. Dawn's eyes widened. "Bounty hunters! Get down!" She said, swerving the car to the right, starting to speed up heavily to try and avoid the group. Kid and Libitina instinctively ducked down low, keeping their heads out of sight. The group noticed the Highwayman, raising their weapons and firing like mad. The three of them heard bullets whizz around the car, a few bullets hitting the vehicle's left side. Dawn ran the Highwayman up a hill, jumping the vehicle up into the air for a few seconds before it rammed back down to the ground, still running as it sped onwards. Kid and Libitina brought their heads back up, sitting up fully in their seats once more. Dawn was glancing between the rearview mirror and the windshield in front of her, checking to make sure the bounty hunters weren't pursuing them.
"How did you know they were bounty hunters?" Libitina asked. Dawn said "I just knew. I was right too, they shot at us. They could've been raiders, but for some reason, I doubt it." The group fell silent, Dawn still driving rather quickly, New Reno faintly visible on the distance. About another day and a half later, the group finally reached New Reno. Dawn drove on to Second Street, discretely parking the Highwayman in an alley across from the Golden Globes. It was already getting close to night, and Kid and Libitina were feeling rather sleepy. Turning off the car, Dawn took the keys out of the ignition as the three of them got out of the vehicle. Kid and Libitina were walking a little wobbly, the two were getting close to simply falling asleep. Their were growing close to blacking out; their eyelids constantly fought against them to fall shut, their minds were blinking in and out of the darkness of sleep. Dawn didn't feel nearly as tired as they did, leading them into the studio.
When they entered the front room, Dawn said "Kid, Libby, you guys remember where my room is, right? It wouldn't be safe for any of us to sleep in the Highwayman, if a bounty hunter found it, they'd almost certainly kill anybody that was inside it. You guys can crash on my bed, it's fine. I'm going to stay up a bit longer and film some scenes for Rocky, alright?" Kid and Libitina nodded, Kid mumbling "Alright..." Kid and Libitina wandered into the nearby studio, the two of them heading down a hallway, finding the door to Dawn's room. Opening the door, they entered the dark room. Libitina closed the door behind herself. Kid barely noticed it in the dark, but the room looked exactly as it had before, it didn't look trashed like the other buildings around the city. Kid slipped off his shoes, but he didn't bother with his socks. Pulling his shirt over his head and dropping it to the floor, he walked over to Dawn's nearby bed, turning and collapsing down to his back on the bed's mattress. Libitina slipped off her shoes as well, but she pulled off her socks, unlike Kid.
She pulled up her shirt and undid her bra, dropping her bra to the floor, pulling her shirt back down a moment later. She got on to the bed with a weary sigh, collapsing by Kid. She had the right side of her face over his stomach, her left hand near her face, on his right hip. The rest of her limbs were sprawled out as she closed her eyes and relaxed, her head peacefully rising and lowering with every one of Kid's breaths. Because of Libitina's position, Kid's left hand was against her upper back, but he hadn't intended it to be there; it had simply rested against her there when she had gotten on the bed. It hardly took a minute for the two of them to fall into a deep and peaceful slumber...
Talking to Rocky, Dawn had related her plans to leave New Reno. While Rocky was disappointed to hear that Dawn would be leaving, he certainly understood her reasoning. He said he would miss her, and she said the same in return. As a final gift, she said she would film some scenes for him free of charge, as long as he inserted a message somewhere in the film that New Reno was free of raiders and was open to visitors once more. Rocky readily agreed, saying that all of his actors and actresses had either been killed by the Scaled Hiss or had fled the city, except for one. Mister Pink had been the only one to stay behind in the city, hiding and attempting to assassinate raiders whenever he could. He had almost been captured when the NCR troops had arrived, distracting his raider pursuers long enough for him to escape. Dawn agreed to work with Mister Pink, hugging him when she saw him a minute later, telling him she was glad to see that he was alright. He didn't appear to be injured, although he did seem a little weary.
He was glad that she was okay as well, hugging her in return. "I have to tell you...This is most likely going to be my last time making a scene with you...My last time acting for Rocky...My last time in New Reno, even. I'm leaving for good, I've got a huge bounty on my head, and I don't know how long it's going to take for bounty hunters to flood the city." Mister Pink said "I won't ask about what you did to get a big bounty on your head...I'll just wish you luck. If this is going to be our last time filming together, let's make it grand! I'm going to miss you, so let's make this intense!" Dawn grinned, saying "I'm game." Grand was certainly the word that would best describe their sexual romp. Wearing multiple costumes, the duo went through multiple sexual acts as well as many positions, blasting through multiple orgasms before they were finally spent. In the end, they had shot an entire movie. Rocky was impressed, saying "Damn Dawn, if I watch that booty shake for another minute, I'm gonna have to call in an extra of my own for some lovin'! You two did great, this movie's worth a thousand pops, heh heh. I'll make sure to put in a message about New Reno being free. You two really need to clean up though, I've got to say."
Dawn had several patches and splots of Mister Pink's seed on her skin, and he, in turn, was soaked in varying parts by Dawn's love juices. Rocky tossed them a water bottle, the two of them sharing it to wash themselves off, taking a towel each and drying themselves afterwards. Feeling thoroughly drained, Dawn was finally ready to sleep. She hugged Mister Pink and Rocky one last time, telling them she'd miss them, that in the morning she'd be going to say her goodbyes to her friends within the Wright crime family. They understood why she was leaving, but that didn't make saying goodbye to an old friend any easier. Heading off to her room, Dawn only pulled on her thong, remaining undressed aside from her lower bit of underwear. She noticed Libitina on her bed, her head on Kid's stomach, but she didn't think much of it. Crawling on to the bed by Kid's right side, she got under the sheets and cuddled up to him, quickly falling asleep and joining them in the silent darkness.
Kid awoke peacefully, still lying on his back. He could feel Libitina's head to still be on his stomach, as well. She hadn't changed her position during her sleep either, still sprawled out with the side of her head on his stomach, a hand on his hip. The space in the bed just to his right seemed warm, like someone had been lying on it not long before, but there was nobody there once Kid had woken up. He realized it must've been Dawn, wondering where she could've gone. Sitting up in the dark room, Libitina's head moved down to his lap, the side of her head resting down on his thighs. Sitting up, he looked down to her face with a small smile. She looked so at peace as she slept, she looked so calm and relaxed. His movement had started to wake her however, and after a few moments, she let out a light mumble, screwing her eyes shut tight for a moment before relaxing, opening her eyes a little. Kid knew Libitina was a pretty girl, but her makeup did more than help disguise her features; very often, her designs seemed to almost enhance the natural beauty of her features, at least to Kid it seemed to do so.
He brought a hand to the side of her face, clearing some of her soft bangs from her face, his smile growing a touch stronger as he said "Good morning...I just woke up..." Libitina smiled sleepily, rolling over so the back of her head rested down on his thighs. Smiling up at him, her eyes were only half open as she mumbled "I had the best dream, last night..." Kid rested the hand he had cleared away her bangs with down on her stomach, curiously asking "Oh really? What was it about?..." Libitina blushed gently, and after a moment, she said "It was...About...You and me, boyfriend and girlfriend..." She closed her eyes, smiling more broadly as she stretched by arching her back, a slight cracking sound appearing for a moment. As she relaxed back into the bed, she kept her eyes closed, breathing out "Mmm, it was so nice...I love it when I have nice dreams..."
Kid blushed faintly, but he just kept on smiling, not feeling offended that she dreamt of him. After all, it's not like she could control her dreams, and even if she could, she hadn't suggested that anything really sexual had gone on, she had just said that they were a couple in her dream. Libitina turned her head to the side, bringing her face against his shirt over his lower stomach, Kid glancing off to the right. "Dawn's gone...I don't know where to." He mumbled. Libitina breathed in his scent, still smiling happily, saying "Alright...We might as well get up and find her...I'm kind of hungry, too..." Libitina started to sit up, but before Kid could move anywhere, she moved her hips back until she was sitting down on his thighs. She smiled, acting quickly yet not too hastily, Kid at a loss for words as she moved. Her left side facing him, she brought her right hand to his left elbow, bringing her left arm over his right shoulder until the palm of her hand was flat against his upper back. She brought her head down and gave him a kiss on the right side of his neck, causing butterflies to burst within the confines of his stomach.
She went a little higher, pressing a gentle kiss to the side of his jaw, going higher and pressing another kiss to his cheek. She stopped then, blushing gently as she pulled back. Wordlessly, she got up from the bed, walking over to her nearby discarded bra. Kid felt a little dumbfounded by her actions, and simply stared at her as she picked her bra up from the floor. She had her back to Kid as she pulled up her shirt, slipping her arms out of her sleeves and putting them through the loops of her bra. She glanced over her shoulder with a happy smile as she reached behind herself to do up her bra. Kid eventually smiled and, not knowing what to say, simply got up from the bed silently, finding his shirt and pulling it on. Libitina pulled her shirt back down once her bra was on, finding her socks and slipping them on, as well. The two of them pulled their shoes on, walking over to the nearby door, Kid twisting the knob and pulling the door open. Libitina closed the door behind herself before the duo headed down the nearby hallway. Dawn had woken up not very long before the two of them, and had taken the opportunity to prepare some food for not only herself, but for Kid and Libitina, as well.
Just coming in then to see if the two of them had woken up, she saw them walk into the studio from the hallway they had been traversing, waving them over. She was wearing her black armour, like she had the day before. When they reached her, she said "Hey, good morning, you two. I've got some food ready in the Highwayman, we're going to eat and then we're off to see Keith." "Then we're heading north?" Kid asked. Dawn nodded, a small smile coming to her face. "That's the plan." She said. Libitina smiled happily. The group left the studio for the last time, heading across the street to a nearby alleyway, walking in and finding the Highwayman. Getting inside, Dawn passed around the food she had gotten ready, everyone having something to eat before Dawn started up the vehicle.
Driving out of the alley, she started heading down towards the Wright manor in the east end of New Reno, avoiding streets filled with decaying bodies along the way. When they reached the manor, they saw that it was already buzzing with activity. Dawn shut the Highwayman down, the three of them getting out and heading towards the nearby front doors of the manor. As they walked towards the manor, a thought crossed Kid's mind, his eyes widening a touch. "Dawn, wait! Before we go, I have to say goodbye to Ronald!" Dawn turned around and stopped walking, facing him. She had her eyebrows raised a little as she said "Alright, that's not a problem. C'mon, we'll say goodbye to him after we're done with the Wrights." Kid nodded, smiling a touch.
Several Wright guards opened the doors to the manor for Dawn, Dawn striding in and quickly finding Keith, hugging him tight. He was surprised, but it all became clear as Dawn explained her plan, releasing him slowly as she did so. Keith felt that, with New Reno under the control of the Wrights, that things could be stable for a while despite Dawn's absence. "Nothing's perfect, and that includes crime families. But I'll make sure to recruit like a sonuvabitch and keep our family tough. I'm still worried about the Brotherhood coming down on my head one day, but we'll deal with that when it happens." Keith smiled, raising a hand to Dawn's shoulder, saying "I think, after everything you've done for us, we still owe you anything you want. You helped my father make our family strong, and you helped me get us on top. If you want out, if you want peace, then it's better than sticking around here waiting for bounty hunters to come after you. Go on, go have your Garden of Eden...But on two conditions." Dawn raised an eyebrow, smiling slyly, asking "Which would be?"
Keith took his hand from her shoulder, raising an eyebrow and grinning a little. "I want you to not only stay for a drink, but I want you to promise to come check on the family some day." Dawn was about to speak when Keith raised a hand, saying "Dawn, c'mon, don't run off. The last couple of times we've celebrated, you've left without joining us for a drink or two. Don't ditch this party, too. We've gotten the manor free of debris and bodies, and we've gotten some booze. Stick around and have a drink. And come back some day! We're gonna miss you." Dawn let out a soft exhale, a cross between a sigh and a chuckle. "...Alright, I promise...And I'll stick around for a drink, but just one drink. I don't think I'd be able to drive drunk, it just sounds like it'd be screwed up." Dawn looked over her shoulder to Kid and Libitina, saying "Libby, drive Kid down to see Ronald, come pick me up in...Mmm...An hour. Alright?" Libitina nodded, smiling, saying "Sure."
Kid and Libitina turned and left the manor, heading over to the Highwayman. Libitina got in the driver's seat, Kid getting in the passenger's seat beside her. Dawn had left the keys in the ignition, and with just a twist of the inserted key, Libitina pushed the car into whooshing into life. Libitina smiled and said "Alright...Lemme see if I remember the streets Dawn took to get back into the city...Finding Ronald after that will be easy." Kid smiled a little, glancing at Libitina before she started driving down the street, speedily heading down around a corner, making her way deeper into the city.
Libitina eventually made her way to Second Street, and from there to Virgin Street. She found Ronald and his carts across from the Cat's Paw brothel, his carts set up in the same parking lot they had been in before. Marv and the others were standing around the carts, Ronald trading with some people who had approached his brahmin carts. The Highwayman was easy to notice, and Ronald and the others raised a hand, waving to him. Driving into the parking lot, Libby parked the car across from the carts, the two of them opening the doors beside themselves and stepping out. Tansy stood by Ronald, with Marv and Heather being not too far from the two of them. With Krypt gone, it was just the four of them that had been watching the carts. As they approached, Ronald called out "Hey, Kid! Where's Dawn?" Kid said "She's having a drink with the Wrights, to say goodbye."
Ronald finished up with his last customer before saying "Goodbye? What's she saying goodbye for? Is she leaving their family?" Kid, in a bit of a subdued tone, said "She's leaving more than just the family...She's leaving the city. I'm leaving with her, and...So is Libby." Ronald's face seemed a little surprised, and so did the faces of the others. Kid explained Dawn's plan as well as her reasoning, making sure to let them all know that Libitina as well as himself wanted to go with her. Ronald still seemed surprised, but he understood Dawn's logic. Heather was the most outwardly effected by the news. She stood facing Marv, burying her face into his shirt, into his stomach. Tansy had a slightly serious face, her eyes twinged with sadness.
Marv had a very similar expression on his face, as well. Kid slowly and softly said "So...Since we're going with her...I just thought I'd come and say my goodbyes to you guys..." Ronald took a step closer to Kid, grabbing him in a hug, surprising him. Kid hugged him back however, not feeling very awkward about the embrace, considering it may be his last time seeing the bearded man. They embraced for a few moments before they began to release each other. As they did, Ronald said "Ya know, when I saw you for the first time, I knew that you were a good guy in your heart. I knew you were going through some shite, but that underneath it all, you were really a big softie. Of course, that's more often the case than a lot of people will let on. I'm glad I got the chance to meet you, Kid...You've been like a son to me, this whole time."
Kid smiled, raising a hand, saying "I don't remember what it's like to have a dad...But I think you're the closest to one that I ever had. I'm glad that we met, too." Ronald smiled, raising a hand, grasping Kid's. The two shook hands for a few seconds before releasing each other. Tansy stepped closer to Kid and, since Dawn was supposed to be on the other side of the city, reached her arms around Kid's shoulders, hugging him tight. He reached his arms around her waist, the two of them hugging tightly for a few seconds before releasing each other. Tansy looked down to his stomach as she softly said "I never was good with goodbyes, Kid..." She looked up to his eyes. "I promised you a long time ago that if there was anything I could do to help you, I'd do it...So think of me if you ever get into trouble." She was silent for a second before she took in a light breath. "I've got a question, though..."
Kid nodded. Tansy softly said "...When I went back to Vault 17...I found a body. It was Marilyn, but there wasn't much of her left..." At Marilyn's name, Libitina's face lost all warmth, memories filling her up. Tansy slowly asked "Kid, I...I was wondering if...If you had been the one to kill Marilyn...Judas was dead, too...Did you kill them both?" Libitina spoke quickly, speaking before Kid could. "No. I killed Marilyn. She deserved what she got." Libitina said in a callous manner. Tansy looked to Libitina for a moment before letting out a soft sigh, looking back to Kid, smiling a little. "I'm glad it wasn't you, Kid...Marilyn was fucked up, a real psychopath must've gone at her. I don't want to think about what that means about your friend there, but...I'm just glad it wasn't you that did it." Kid said "I did kill Judas, though...I didn't want to, but...It's a long story, let's just say that there wasn't any other option. He had it coming, too." Tansy nodded. "Did he ever. I'm sorry I didn't get to kill him myself, but...Guess I was too slow." Tansy raised a hand to Kid's jaw, rubbing a thumb against his cheek, smiling and speaking affectionately as she said "Clean this makeup off, Kid...You look like a clown."
Libitina stared darkly at Tansy for a few seconds, her staring going unnoticed. Kid smiled a little, but didn't comment on his face paint. He looked to Marv and Heather. They stepped closer to him, Heather facing him once again, only her face was pointed down towards the ground. "Heather..." Marv said softly. Heather looked up to Kid's face, speaking gently and rather shyly. "U-Um...Kid..." She paused for several seconds before saying "I'm gonna miss you..." Her face went bright red with blush, and she spun around, sticking her face into Marv's stomach. After a moment, muffled words came from her, the girl saying "And I'll miss you too, Libby!" Libitina smiled a little, seeming flattered. Marv reached over to Kid, the two shaking hands, Marv saying "I wish you the best of luck, Kid." Kid nodded, saying "The same to you, Marv." Ronald gave Libitina a hug in farewell, Libitina hugging him back for a few moments before they released one another.
Their final goodbyes said, Kid and Libitina slowly got back into the Highwayman, Libitina starting the vehicle up once again. Kid watched the others disappear behind them as Libitina drove down the street, heading back towards the Wright manor. By the time they reached the manor, they had been gone for around an hour. "Kid, hold still, this'll only take a minute..." Libitina said, holding her rag in her left hand, rubbing at Kid's face and clearing his features of her face paint. Just as she finished up, Dawn stepped out of the manor. She was followed by Keith, Stitch, Ice, Krypt, and many other Wright soldiers. Kid and Libitina looked over, Libitina getting into the backseat as the two of them heard the chattering outside. It sounded like they were all saying their goodbyes to one another. They watched as Dawn hugged them all, hearing them speak to one another for a bit before Dawn started to head towards the Highwayman, all of the others waving farewell to her.
As Dawn got into the Highwayman, Kid noticed that her eyes were a little sad, despite the smile she had on her face. "Time to go. We're heading north." She said confidently. Kid reached over and held her right hand, Dawn looking over to him with her soft smile. It took a moment, but she eventually began to show on her face the depression she felt. It was clear to Kid that Dawn didn't like saying goodbye to her friends within the Wright family. After another moment, however, her strong demeanor returned, the sadness on her face banished with a little smile. She leaned over and gave him a kiss, releasing his hand afterwards. Starting up the car, she didn't have to drive far to escape the confines of New Reno, turning the car around as she headed north with the others in tow...
The group stopped at Klamath to get some more food supplies with what remained of Dawn's caps, but after that, they headed north for days. The days turned into weeks...Two and a half weeks, exactly. With the NCR's last bit of territory ending far to the south, lawlessness completely ruled the lands that Dawn and the others entered. There were many more organized raider groups than in the south, but none of them were even close to being as powerful as the Scaled Hiss had been. Dawn thought of using her G.E.C.K.s in the mountains to the east, but she eventually decided on using them near the coast, near the waters of the ocean to the west. Leaving the remains of California behind them, they drove deep into what was left of Oregon, staying close to the coast. Eventually, they found what had used to be Cape Kiwanda, a state park from before the Great War.
The entire area was completely devoid of life. Dead trees were everywhere, and the murky water of the ocean gently lapped against the massive cliffs that went along parts of the cape. After searching around, the group found that there wasn't any sign of civilization for miles around. Dawn seemed content with the state park. When the others said they were ready, Dawn took out the G.E.C.K.s, parking the car at least a kilometer away from where she intended to use them. When asked about this behaviour, Dawn told Kid that she wasn't sure what would happen when she used the G.E.C.K.s and so, to be safe, she was parking the Highwayman away from the activation site. She then told them to stay in the car, heading off to her activation site by herself.
Opening up the G.E.C.K.s, Dawn saw with curiosity that although the two cases looked identical on the outside, they were very different on the inside. One had no space inside it at all, there was nothing but a strange wall of machinery built into the insides of both sides of the case, blinking lights and flickering switches coming into life as she opened the case. Gauges of all kinds were along the inside of the advanced technology, along with a lever and a keypad. The other G.E.C.K. was much different. It had a bit of machinery to it's interior, but most of the space was taken up by small white packets of some sort, as well as a few small canisters of some sort of chemical. The one that was filled with nothing but machinery had no instructions to go with it, but the other one that seemed more primitive did.
Grabbing the small book that was provided within, scanning it's information and flipping through it, Dawn saw that the primitive G.E.C.K. had nothing but soil supplements, food seeds, and fertilizers that could cleanse the soil and make it viable for crops. It certainly didn't seem like the miracle device of legend, but still, the fact that it could make the ground suitable for proper crops was wondrous enough. Reading through the manual some more, Dawn found instructions on how to use the G.E.C.K.s cold fusion power source as a way to make force fields, to protect the new settlement made with the G.E.C.K.'s aid. Also, she found a way to use some of the chemicals included in the G.E.C.K. to create "sand-crete" walls, to create homes.
She figured that the primitive G.E.C.K. was illustrious enough, but then she turned her attention to the more advanced one of the two. A small screen set into the case's inside had lit up as she read the other's manual, and displayed a blue-tinted loading screen. After a few moments, a video began to play. Dawn, alone with the G.E.C.K.s as she had left Kid and Libitina far back in the Highwayman, watched the video in solitary silence. She saw the Vault Boy, the mascot of the Vault-Tec corporation, appear on the screen. He looked like a man of a healthy weight with blonde hair, the hair rippling forwards until it reached an upwards point hanging over his forehead. The figure seemed to have a permanent parted-lip smile on his face, almost like a grin. He was wearing the typical jumpsuit of a vault inhabitant, with most of the jumpsuit being blue while a collar of yellow went around his neck. A stripe of yellow went down his torso, meeting with another band of yellow that went around his waist. Speaking through speech bubbles, he related instructions.
"Howdy! It's me, your friendly neighbourhood Vault Boy! How are you, citizen? I imagine that, after leaving the vault for the first time, you're a little disoriented; don't worry, the burning in your eyes from the sun's rays will fade eventually. So, you've opened up your G.E.C.K. and are ready to get the ball rolling, huh? Well, first off, I'd like to congratulate you and thank you for your patience in waiting for the surface to grow safe enough for recolonization!"
Dawn had an eyebrow raised as she watched the small screen, her face not being very impressed. Sitting on the ground with the cases in front of her, she drummed the fingers of her right hand against her right knee, her legs crossed beneath her.
"Before we go any further, I think thanking Doctor Stanislaus Braun is in order. After all, he did create the G.E.C.K.s, something nobody else in America had the brains to do. He may not be with you physically, but just look to the sky and thank him, I'm sure he'll feel it!"
Dawn made a bit of a face, thinking "This "Braun" guy must've written this speech himself. Sounds like he had a big ego."
"That's right! The good doctor is the very reason the vaults are able to work; if it wasn't for his G.E.C.K.s, why, we'd all be doomed! Anyway, you must be wondering as to how you can work this fangled machine. Here's what you do...On the small keypad on the lower right side of the G.E.C.K.'s bottom half, punch in a countdown. Might wanna give yourself some time to run out of the radius, so as a precaution, the G.E.C.K. won't let you enter anything less than thirty minutes."
Just to be safe, Dawn brought her hand to the small keypad on the G.E.C.K.'s bottom half, punching in a time limit of fifty minutes.
The Vault Boy said "Okay! You typed in...Fifty (50) minutes. That should be good enough! This G.E.C.K. unit's official working range is...One (1) and a half (½) kilometers. That should be good, right? Better than any other machine would get you, that's for sure. Sure, other G.E.C.K. models might've had better ranges, but you, the citizens of...Vault 17...Will have to make do!"
Dawn raised her eyebrows, looking around, thinking to herself as she did so. "A kilometer and a half wouldn't be bad, definitely enough space for the three of us, and it won't be so damn huge that just anyone could see us. Yeah..." She sighed softly through her nose. "...I think it's all going to be fine."
"Whenever you're ready, just push the lever to the left of the keypad upwards, and then you better hightail it out of the radius! This G.E.C.K. unit will collapse all matter within the radius it is capable of, and will recombine it all to create a lush virgin landscape, fertile and full of lovely plants! If you're in the radius when the G.E.C.K. goes off, well...I hope you had a last will written up!"
Dawn thought "I could easily get back to the Highwayman in time to drive it out of the radius...Doesn't sound like any big thing." She reached for the lever beside the keypad, grabbing it and, after taking in a deep breath, pushing it forwards. The blue-tinted screen on the inside of the G.E.C.K. flickered violently for a moment before the Vault Boy waved a hand, winking. "See you around, citizen! God bless America!" The G.E.C.K. began to whirr rapidly, the machinery on the inside letting off rapid blinking lights, little bursts of steam shooting out of certain parts. The dials on it began to spin around rapidly. A vibrating began to come from the case, quickly strengthening in intensity with every second. Dawn wasn't sure if the G.E.C.K. was supposed to react as it was, but she grabbed the other, more primitive G.E.C.K. before jumping to her feet, turning and racing away.
Hardly a dozen minutes later, she had reached the Highwayman, tossing the remaining G.E.C.K. into the backseat, into Libitina's lap. "What happened?" Kid asked, Dawn jumping into the driver's seat. As she started to speed the vehicle away from her activation site, she said "I started it up, it should work! We've just got to move out of the radius!" Kid and Libitina were deeply curious, but Dawn was thinking too much on escaping the G.E.C.K.'s radius to answer their questions. When she had driven two and a half kilometers away from the activation site, she stopped, but only a few minutes later, she drove a little farther away, rounding off her distance at three kilometers, just to be safe.
They waited, then. "Now, it should go off in a bit, but I'm not sure what to expect...All I knew was that I had to get out of the radius." Dawn explained. "What's going on with this one? Is it malfunctioning, or something?" Libitina asked, holding up the second G.E.C.K. that Dawn had tossed to her. Dawn said "No, that one's fine, we're just not using it yet. It didn't have the same machinery and stuff that the other one did, the one you have is a little less advanced." Everyone waited in silence for at least twenty minutes, when suddenly...
There was a flash of white light, accompanied by a mighty whooshing sound. The eyes of the three of them widened. A massive sphere of blueish light swirled into life, zooming out in a massive radius, spreading out extremely quickly. True to the words of the Vault Boy, the G.E.C.K.'s radius was a full kilometer and a half. The light continued to shine and swirl like some rippling godly presence for nearly a dozen minutes, and when it faded...There was green. It was grass, revitalized trees, soil rich in nutrients...It was nothing short of a miracle, and the three of them knew it. The G.E.C.K. had lived up to it's name; compared to the rest of the wasteland, it had, indeed, created a Garden of Eden.
The first thing the group did was get a good night's rest within their new paradise. The smell of the fresh air, the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves of the trees, the feeling of the grass beneath their feet, it made the group fall in love with their new home. After spending a bit of time relaxing, they set about creating a detailed map that led to their new home. Taking Kid back down to Rister, Dawn and he met up with Dominique...
"Kid! It's so good to see you!" That's the first thing that came out of Dominique's mouth when she saw Kid and Dawn again. She ran up to him and hugged him tight, the three of them standing inside the workshop within the reaver building that Dominique now lived within. Dominique hugged Dawn shortly afterwards, Kid and Dominique both noticing that one another was wearing the necklaces that Dominique had made. Kid still wore his around his neck, and Dominique wore the one she had fashioned for herself, the both of them happy to see that the other was wearing the accessory. Kid was a little quiet at first as he handed Dominique the map he had made with Dawn and Libitina. Taking it curiously, Dominique opened it up, glancing along the map. Looking up to Kid with even more curiosity, she mumbled "Kid...What is this?..." Kid gently said "It's a map...To my new home. I wanted you to have it in case you ever needed me...Or felt up to making the trip to see me."
Dominique glanced between him and Dawn for a few seconds, curiosity running strong in her. Dawn explained her plan, Kid adding in every once in a while. To Kid's surprise, she just smiled a little, her eyes closing just a touch. When the two of them had finished speaking, Dominique said "I'm glad the G.E.C.K. worked...Your new home is quite a long way from here, so I don't know if I'll be able to make the trip as often as I'd like, but...I will certainly come and visit you some day. I promise." Stepping closer to Kid, Dominique slipped her arms around his neck, pressing her face to the right side of his neck. He brought his arms around her, resting his hands against the small of her back. He turned his head towards her's slightly, bringing in the light and lovely scent of her hair. The both of them closed their eyes as they embraced. As they hugged, Dominique gently murmured "Je t'aimerai toujours...Je vous souhaite bonne chance dans votre nouvelle maison."
When they released one another, Dominique leaned closer for just a second, giving Kid a light peck of a kiss on his right cheek. He gave her a kiss in return, on her own right cheek. She smiled happily. Dawn stepped closer to Dominique, hugging her tightly, Dominique hugging her back with a smile and closed eyes. "Take care of yourself, okay?..." Dawn said lightly as the two released one another. Dominique smiled happily, saying "I will. I wish you peace, Beautiful One. After using a chunk of His power in the form of the G.E.C.K., you've proven you really are one of His angels. You're a good friend...One of the best I've ever had." She glanced over to Kid, saying "I'll be thinking of you two...I love you both." Dawn said her final farewell, saying "Goodbye, Dom..."
Kid stood by Dominique for a few seconds as Dawn headed over to the nearby door. Sensing that Kid and Dominique may have wanted just a few more seconds in private, Dawn stepped through the doorway of the workshop, leaving the two alone. They said no words, they only shared one embrace as well as a kiss, the two kissing on the lips for a moment. Kid told her he loved her. She said the same to him in English. After that, they parted, Kid looking at her over his shoulder with a little smile. She waved to him with a smile on her face, watching him leave the workshop. As they left the building and headed back to the Highwayman, Kid's mind was blank and devoid of thoughts, but there was a happy smile constantly on his face...
When the two returned to their new home, they found that the second G.E.C.K., which they had left in Libitina's possession as she stayed behind, had also turned out to be useful. Although the first G.E.C.K. had grown grass and trees as well as fertile soil, none of the flora it had created was capable of producing food. Using the second G.E.C.K., Libitina had planted many seeds, seeds that had quickly grown into fruit and vegetable-bearing plants. Setting up the large purifier Dawn had gotten a while back, she had begun to filter and cleanse the water that came in from the ocean, cleansing it and letting it flow into a small pool near the edge of their home. Using that fresh water as well as the additional seeds created by the grown plants, they soon had their new home comfortably filled with plantlife, as well as food.
They made a home for themselves out of sand-crete, the same material that Dawn said the homes of Vault City and New Arroyo were made of. They always kept the Highwayman parked by their new house, fuelled up and ready to move if need be. Nobody ever found their home, not a single bounty hunter ever came even close to their paradise. Despite the saying "two's company but three's a crowd", the three of them got along as they always had, no sourness ever arising between any of them. Many a time did they sit upon the hood of the Highwayman, eating juicy fruit and ripe vegetables, watching the sun set through the trees. Dawn and Kid remained as boyfriend and girlfriend, their love for one another staying strong, even flourishing more now that they could let their guards down and relax in their paradise.
Although sexual tensions between Kid and Libitina never really went away, they never flaunted anything in front of Dawn, they were both extremely careful not to let her find out about anything for several reasons. The first and foremost was because Kid loved Dawn with all his heart, and didn't want to hurt her in any way. The second was that Kid was more or less only being slightly sexual with Libitina because she wouldn't stop pestering him about it if he didn't get close to her, something Libitina herself knew to be true.
The third reason was because Dawn was Libitina's friend, and although she loved Kid, she didn't want to hurt her friendship with the woman. Many times did Kid and Dawn make love in their new home while being secretly spied on by Libitina, something that neither of them knew, for Libitina kept that secret to herself, among many others. Although Libitina's psychosis endured, relaxing in her new home brought her stability, and she never again had a breakdown. In the end, the trio finally found some peace and solace in the terrible world of the wasteland, having their own Garden of Eden to rest within.
Dominique continued to live with the reavers of Rister for the rest of her life. She rose through the ranks among her religious brothers and sisters, and eventually held a high position of great respect. She helped the reaver religion expand, and although many were wary of the reavers, they were accepted by several towns. The wasteland had seen it's fair enough share of dangerous cults, and Dominique was determined not to let the reavers be added to that list. Dominique never did find out about what had happened to her father. Although the memories still hurt, with time she eventually forgot everything about him, until all that was left was the memory of a missing figure, the father she had desperately needed during her tender years as an older child and younger teenager.
Although she had her own fair share of scars, she felt comforted in the knowledge that everyone, no matter where they lived or what set of beliefs they followed, had their own scars. Everyone had scars in her mind; whether they be physical or emotional, nobody was perfect, nobody was without damage. With that knowledge gained throughout life's experiences, she eventually lost all shame related to her facial scars, wearing the markings with courage. Dominique made good on her promise to Kid. She visited him more times than she thought she would've been able to, visiting him at least three times a year, staying with him and the others for at least two weeks with every visit before heading back to Rister.
Dominique's love for Kid never faded, and she never found herself loving another aside from him. Due to his relationship with Dawn however, a relationship that never seemed to falter in it's love, Dominique was never given another opportunity to get intimate with Kid again. It was one of her dearest wishes to do so, but she ignored her heart's cries, wanting to keep the peace between Kid and Dawn and avoid any conflicts.
Life for Rocky and business for the Golden Globes returned to normal, the studio even growing more influential with the revitalization of New Reno. With Dawn's last porn movie circulated around almost all of California's big towns, not only was the face of Dawn Darkwater raised to new heights in fame, the message of New Reno's freedom spread even quicker than was anticipated. Aside from the survivors of the Scaled Hiss' attack, many people flocked to New Reno in droves, many of them secretly coming to the city because they had never known a thing such as a porn movie existed. As his movie business expanded and grew even more powerful, Rocky eventually bought what was left of the Cat's Paw brothel, bringing it under his management and expanding his business power even further.
New Reno was eventually returned to it's previous state, with new casinos set up and old businesses brought back up to snuff. Life was good for Rocky, but even with the fame that came with being a porn director, he never forgot the woman that he owed most of his money to, the woman who helped keep the studio afloat when it first came under Rocky's control. With the new boom of recognition that came with Dawn's face, Rocky quickly had many more copies of Dawn's numerous movies made, successfully selling them for nearly double the price of regular movies, citing that they would be "classics for all time". Due to his actions, the name "Ruby-Red" became synonymous with sexual prowess, and the face that went with that name became something of a sex symbol across California.
The Wright crime family continued to control New Reno, and salvaged as much equipment as they could from the corpses of the Scaled Hiss raiders in an attempt to equip their soldiers. As people came into the city, the Wrights brought on the typical activities that they had had their hands in before the fall of the city: drugs, alcohol, prostitution, and weapons, all at a cheap price. Without any other crime family to stand against them, they ruled New Reno's various markets. Notably, Keith Wright refused to bring any more Jet into the city. Although breaking down the Mordino family's old Jet stables and eliminating the drug from the city would deal them a severe blow when it came to revenue, the family decided it was for the best.
In the end, the decision paid off; the number of junkies in the city plummeted, something that was noticed across the remains of California. With practically no junkies inside the city, the city began to develop a more positive reputation, eventually becoming known as a popular vacation resort where anyone could find a good time. Jet didn't completely fade away, however. It was too much of a popular drug, it was far too addictive to those who had taken it. Other people around the wasteland eventually uncovered the secrets of Jet production, crafting the substance and selling it around the land's seedier places.
One or two groups within New Reno tried to rise up against the Wrights, trying to form crime families of their own, some promising to return Jet to the city. These groups were always met with harsh and brutal force, Keith Wright always ordering that every single member of these groups be eliminated. Because he had held true to his word to Dawn and had spread a wide campaign of recruitment, he was never short of soldiers, and any competition was swiftly removed from the equation.
Hiro, with Dawn gone, eventually rose to the rank of Keith's top enforcer, with Dawn rising to a sort of mythical level, being regarded as almost a spook story among the lower-ranking members of the family. The higher members of the family, namely Stitch, Ice, Hiro, and several others, remembered Dawn for as long as they lived, for varying reasons. They were amused by the stories of the lower members, the newest recruits of the family often hearing Keyser Söze-esque stories about the beautiful woman in black armour who had joined the family at a young age, rapidly rose through the ranks, and had often led teams of soldiers to brutal victory against the family's enemies.
As myths often do, things were distorted as they went from mouth to ear and back through the mouth, and Dawn was eventually described as a shadowy figure that crept in the corners of Keith Wright's office, protecting him against all attackers while dispensing horrific punishments and nightmarish deaths to anyone that began to seriously consider betraying the family in even the smallest of ways.
Hiro and Felicity remained together for as long as they lived; despite their tough passion with one another, they genuinely felt for the other, knowing that even if they didn't care for one another, neither of them would be able to find another that would be able to precisely match their unique sexual tastes. As a sadist, Hiro felt his thirsts quenched by Felicity, and as a masochist, Felicity felt her aches soothed by Hiro. Nobody came between them, no thoughts of unfaithfulness came to them, they were completely satisfied with one another.
Ronald and Tansy said their farewells to Marv and Heather, the two of them leaving shortly after Kid and Libitina had left with Dawn. Although they provided a reason for going on their own way, Ronald couldn't help but feel like they were hiding something; if that was really the case, however, then Ronald didn't know what they could've possibly been trying to hide. Ronald and Tansy hired several more people to help work with guarding his brahmin carts, the two of them leading the carts on Ronald's usual trade routes for barely two weeks before tragedy struck. A gang formed out of some of the remnants of the Scaled Hiss, which had renamed itself "the Silver Fang", attacked the carts while they were on a route between the NCR and the far-off settlement of Gecko.
These raiders, which had been some of the surviving elites of the Scaled Hiss, quickly dispatched Ronald's guards, killing his brahmin as well, leaving he and Tansy stranded. Ronald fought valiantly, but was eventually stabbed to death by a woman wielding a Ripper blade. The raiders took their time with Tansy, tying her up and beating her for two days straight. Eventually, however, a miracle occurred. A pack of wolves descended upon the scene, attracted by the scent of the dead bodies. The raiders, distracted by the wolves, didn't notice as Tansy untied herself. Leaping into one of Ronald's carts, she wielded two submachine guns, pointing them in an akimbo manner towards the raiders.
Spraying death in the form of lead, she took down several of the raiders, but their tough armour proved more durable than Tansy had expected. A raider, wounded on the ground and struggling to fight off a wolf, fired a shot at Tansy. The bullet hit her in her one remaining eye, but it didn't kill her, it simply left her completely blind. Panicking from her now total loss of sight, she fled, bleeding profusely from her wound the entire time. She ran for hours. Just as she was about to collapse and perhaps give in to her terrible wound as well as her other injuries, another trade group found her.
Quickly taking her down to the NCR, Tansy was treated by some of the wasteland's finest doctors, and although nothing could be done for her old eye socket, she was offered a cybernetic eye to replace her freshly destroyed eye. She was warned that the procedure was quite risky, and because of that, she refused to have the operation done. She bravely decided to try and face life without the gift of sight, constantly keeping a beautifully decorated white cloth wrapped around her head and over her eye sockets, the cloth designed with multiple flowers of icy blue colour.
Tansy settled down in the NCR, becoming a storyteller of renown, often telling her version of Kid's story, whom she called "The Wasteland Kid". She eventually met a man and fell in love, the man she loved able to see past her physical disability and care for the real Tansy. For as long as she lived, she never forgot Ronald's final words: "Don't ever give up, keep staying up there, don't let the fuckers break your stride."
Tansy informed the police of the NCR about what had happened with Ronald shortly after her recovery, and President Tandi quickly ordered that the Silver Fang be hunted down and removed from the Wasteland, permanently. This decision proved to be her last, as the following night, she passed away in her sleep. An autopsy proved that Tandi had been unknowingly ill for some time, and it had only been a matter of time before she left the world. Tandi was succeeded by her vice-president, a woman named Joanna Tibbett. Arthur and Veronica rose in ranks within the NCR's army, both eventually becoming lieutenants in charge of their own companies.
They remained strong friends throughout their military careers, and often spent free time with one another reminiscing about events and battles past. Although Veronica had always been attracted to Arthur, the one area she felt cowardly in was romance, and so never made any advances towards Arthur. This was something she always regretted, especially when Arthur met a young reaver girl named Lola and married her. Despite hurting, she absolutely refused to let anyone see her pain, and so remained close friends with Arthur.
Simone Cole rose even higher in the military's ranks than Arthur and Veronica did. Due to her extreme skill as a sniper as well as her preference for solitary work, she eventually made her way into the 1st Recon, one of the NCR's most skilled reconnaissance units. It's rumoured that it was she that invented the unit's motto, "The last thing you never see." This is disputed by several people, however, as many find it strange that Simone would tell anybody such a thing and spread the line to becoming the unit's official motto as it is in recent times, as she never seemed to communicate with anyone verbally.
Others report that Simone took it upon herself to stitch it on her beret, a beret which was part of her uniform yet was lost in one of her first battles as part of the 1st Recon unit, only to be quickly replaced shortly after the battle. Although credited by some with inventing the unit's motto, Simone herself never took credit for the line, but then again, she almost never spoke to anyone, so her failure to take credit for the motto isn't typically treated as evidence against her. She worked in the 1st Recon for a few years before she was selected for Ranger training. Although approximately eighty percent of Ranger trainees don't make the cut or eventually drop out of the gruelling training, Simone completed her training, officially becoming a Ranger.
Equipped with the standard Ranger armour that was similar to the black armour Dawn Darkwater had been rumoured to wear, Simone was equipped with some of the best weaponry the NCR could provide to it's snipers, weaponry she used to deadly effect. Becoming an almost legendary figure in her own right, she worked tirelessly towards the NCR's goals, ending the threats of various enemies, one snipe at a time.
Marv and Heather had left Ronald and Tansy for one single reason; Marv had grown hungry. When the group had first reached New Reno, he had feasted upon slain corpses whenever he could, but not long before Dawn even arrived with Kid and Libitina, the corpses had begun to decay. Although his hunger had been quelled for a while, when it had begun to return, he had refused to eat decaying bodies, finding the thought disgusting. Marv and Heather went around the wastes, trying to live out of people's eyes, trying to lead solitary existences for fear of being shunned and possibly hunted by the major cities in the wasteland. Marv did his best to control his cannibalistic urges, and with Heather's presence, he very often felt placated for longer than he had before he had met her.
Her presence even helped eliminate his desires entirely at times; by sitting in his lap and cuddling up to him, she could often lull him into a soothing sleep, and when he awoke, he would find his urges had faded and would continue to remain absent for several hours. Whenever he did have to feed, Marv did his best to choose people that he felt wouldn't be missed; homeless people, lone drifters that wandered into whatever town he and Heather were staying in at the time, anybody that didn't seem to have a significant other in their world. Despite his best efforts, Marv wasn't able to stop Heather from developing a taste for human flesh like he had, although she didn't feel compelled to eat another human like he did, and so acted out cannibalistically much less than he did.
Eventually however, their past caught up to them. While Marv and Heather had been with Dawn and the others, Marv had killed and eaten a woman in the NCR; the woman's husband had tracked Marv and Heather down, finding them at the town of Redding. Restraining him with a group of hired muscle, the man had Marv dragged to the sheriff of Redding, and because people in the town had been mysteriously disappearing for the last little while, the sheriff simply assumed that Marv was responsible. Marv was scheduled for execution, the method of death chosen being hanging. Heather was a young teen by that point, and although she had a very visible side to her that was sweet and cheerful, she had another side to her that even Marv had only seen a few times.
This other side was a side everyone had, a side some people had more trouble getting in contact with than others; it was the side of berserk rage, the side of everyone's personality that demands action. Many of the townspeople of Redding, if not all of them, came to watch Marv's execution. Marv faced his execution without fear, the only regret he had being that he hadn't been able to say goodbye to Heather. Just as the floor of the execution stage went out beneath him and his body began to fall, a burst of bullets came out, tearing through the rope that was attached to the noose around Marv's neck.
Without ever being truly hung, not even for a second, Marv collapsed to the ground beneath the execution stage. In the mass confusion, Heather, who was armed with dual submachine guns, shot and killed many of Redding's law enforcement officers before tossing one of Marv's flashbang grenades, leaving anyone Heather hadn't shot temporarily disoriented. Using that distraction, Heather helped Marv to his feet, the two of them fleeing.
As they left the mining community, Heather undid the bindings around Marv's wrists, which had been keeping his hands against the small of his back. He then removed what was left of the noose from around his neck, and the two headed south. They headed far down south, past Vault 13 and the NCR, and it is rumoured that they headed to either the Mojave Wasteland or The Hub, perhaps even Maxson. They were never seen in California's northern territories ever again, and their fates remain unknown.
Harlot became more and more infamous as a slaver, rising within the Guild's ranks over time. Because she hadn't told anybody about her acceptance of the bounty on Dawn Darkwater's head, she didn't have to tell anybody about her failure to complete the bounty. Along with that, she was able to make up a tale as to how Cain Beastly had died. If she was ever asked about him, she would say that he died defending her against a massive swarm of centaurs while she had been incapacitated by a fire gecko's flaming breath. This tale was accepted among the slavers of the Guild, and Cain's story was put to rest. Harlot, however, wasn't willing to let Cain be forgotten so easily. When she had attained a high enough position in the Guild, she put forth the idea that particularly infamous slavers be immortalized in a list, a list that would be stored both on paper as well as on a computer.
In the end, the list was even chiselled into a massive stone slab, erected in the middle of The Den. Harlot continued to live as a slaver for several years to come, but one day, on her way to The Den from the settlement of Gecko, she was attacked by a roaming band of NCR Rangers. Although Harlot didn't have any facial tattoos like the rest of her slaver compatriots, she had grown infamous enough that the Rangers recognized her, regardless. On her own against five of the legendary Rangers, Harlot didn't stand a chance.
Although she killed one and severely wounded another, she was eventually taken down. Lying on the ground in a pool of her own blood, her mind was taken over by thoughts of Dawn, the sister Harlot had never made peace with. In her dying moments, Harlot regretted the way she had acted towards Dawn in New Reno, and as one of the Rangers got over her with a revolver to finish her off, Harlot released her anger about her childhood and forgave Dawn for any wrongdoing, real or imagined.
Feeling like an enormous burden had lifted from her very soul, tears came to Harlot's eyes, a smile on her lips. She had never been a religious person, but for all she knew, there could be some sort of afterlife out there; if there was, she hoped Cain was waiting for her. She heard the Ranger pull the trigger of his magnum, and then all was dark. Harlot Brimstone was added to the list of infamous slavers that had fallen, back in The Den...And purely by coincidence, on the large stone slab in the middle of the town, her name ended up being chiselled by Cain's.
The Scaled Hiss never did recover from the NCR's attack against them at New Reno. The massive raider army had been reduced to small splinter groups that roamed the wastes, resorting to their previous ineffective tactics to try and survive. One of the men that had led the Scaled Hiss, a man named John Darkwater, disappeared into the north with his plasma rifle shortly after escaping New Reno, heading for parts unknown.
The ones that had been closest to him within the raider group would later say that John had brought the raiders together into the army because he had wanted to be rich, but not for himself; they would say that he wanted immense amounts of caps to save his family, a family that was rumoured to be down in the Boneyard of Los Angeles.
Apparently, his family had been quite poor, and he had betrayed his old employers in the city to take their shipment of plasma rifles for himself. Using the advanced technology, he brought various raider bands together, starting the Scaled Hiss. Feeling like his goal of several years had been ruined, he apparently fell into a deep depression for a few days before he left the other leaders of the Scaled Hiss, going on his own. None of the other Scaled Hiss members ever heard from him again.
The wasteland is a cruel and unforgiving place, a place where the strong struggle and the weak simply fade away amid the sands. Doing the wrong thing can bring survival, while doing the right thing can leave one starving in more ways than one...Who can survive in such a twisted world? Mankind is remarkably adaptable, and just like any other trial, mankind adapted to the wasteland and survived. This tale followed important events within several peoples' lives, yet these people were only specks of emotions amid an entire sea.
Fate saw them through tragedies and celebrations, all while the harsh reality of the world around them weighed down their shoulders. The choices man makes are his own, and he must live with the consequences; the wasteland is, as hard as it may seem for many people to believe, man's own creation through warfare. Stand still in the wasteland some day and feel the dead wind blow around you, sense the endless cries of the ruined hiding in the darkness of the wasteland's caves, and experience the dull heat of the lifeless ground beneath your feet.
Doing so, you can come to the realization that the horrors of war are the shortcomings of man...The wasteland, the repercussions of the Great War, they never end, never change. War. War never changes...
The End
(Author's note - Thanks for reading Fallout Wasteland ^_^ I know it's not the best Fallout story out there - I often went against the universe with references to modern-day songs, something I'm personally a little disappointed with - but I hope you enjoyed it, regardless :) I've been a fan of Fallout ever since I was a little kid, I played Fallout 1 and 2 religiously, and I enjoyed putting together a little fanfic.
