Whistling was one of my hidden talents, though it had never done anything but annoy people. But now it finally looked as if it could become useful. I let out a sharp whistle, hearing it echo down the road of Old Town. Nothing happened. Kyli giggled. Rolling my eyes, I turned to look at her and Augustus. The little punk looked like he was laughing at me. I pointed a finger at him, “You shut up.” I turned to Kyli, who had only laughed more at my reaction. “What am I doing wrong?” After I had saved her from the warrior, we had both gone into Stormwind. Surprisingly, most shops were still open. We stopped by a blacksmith and left her armor there, in order to be repaired. We then went into Old Town, into the Pig and Whistle Tavern. Despite being in Old Town, it was a nice little tavern, and the owner was happy to give us a room, even though it was roughly four in the morning. Now, just after noon, we planned on leaving. I thought that would be a good time to learn how to summon my mounts. Apparently, I thought wrong. When I mentioned it to Kyli, she simply whistled, and a large cat, twice the size of Augustus came running around the corner. He had black fur with grey stripes running diagonally across his back, where a basic riding saddle sat. I thought I could do the same with my Talbuk mount. “You’re not thinking of the mount! It’s like any spell, you have to think of the mount you want to summon. The whistling is just for them to know your location.” Alright, that would have been nice to know. I began to concentrate on my Talbuk, one of my favorite land mounts. I had gotten it once I had earned the trust of the Kurenai, a tribe of broken Draenei in Outland. I whistled. Much to my delight, the Talbuk came trotting around the corner. It was a majestic creature, much like a horse. Its four legs had shaggy white fur coating the hooves and slightly above them. Further along was dark blue fur, looking quite smooth to the touch. Where the legs joined the body, a lighter blue took precedence. The body seemed to have three layers of color; where the front and back legs joined, the light blue fur was, and in the center, along with the saddle, was smooth white fur. Its tail had a zebra-like design of the light and dark blue colors. On its rump was an intricately designed blue armor piece. Along its neck were the same pieces, though mostly covered by the same shaggy white fur that coated the hooves. Its mane was the same color and texture, though the rest of its neck was light blue. Its mane was separated by the blue armor pieces, as well as its face. But the piece on its face was a tan color with a pink crystal on the nose. Its large horns looked like armor themselves, shooting out in layers behind its head. “Well, are you going to mount up or stare at it all day?” Kyli asked. I threw her an offended look, but she merely giggled. I didn’t know it, but she was impressed. I put one foot in the stirrup and hauled myself up, the Talbuk barely moving. Not in any rush, I clicked my heels once against its side, the animal beginning to walk. Kyli seemed much shorter next to me now that I was mounted, yet she matched her cat’s speed to mine. We travelled silently, enjoying each other’s company without a word. Outside the blacksmith’s, we dismounted. Our mounts, to my surprise, stood where we left them, as if knowing we would be coming back soon. I took Kyli’s hand in mine and walked through the entrance. The smith took a glance at us. “Ah! Come back to pick up eh?” I nodded, grinning. “Got it done?” The smith laughed, brushing aside the question. “Always do! Now… where did I leave that thing…” As he went fumbling through the stacks of armor he had recently repaired, I took the moment to look at Kyli. The robe I had given her fit her figure snugly, easily showing off her body. Probably because it was meant for me. She caught me looking at her and blushed, turning her head to the side. “Ah, here we go!” The smith pulled up the familiar armor, brushing it off. “This’n, right?” Kyli nodded, reaching for it. He handed it to her, “That’ll be thirty gold pieces.” Kyli gasped. The smith shrugged, “Hey, it was pretty torn up!” I smiled, reaching into my own bag and pulling out the money. “It’s on me.” The smith nodded, bidding us farewell as I pulled Kyli out the door. “You didn’t have to do that…” I smiled. “No, I didn’t.” I left it at that, smiling sideways at Kyli. She rolled her eyes at me, which let the laugh that had been bubbling in my chest burst. I chuckled all the way to our mounts. Once mounted, “Where do you want to go to change?” Kyli paused for a moment, pointing towards the Trade District. “Can we go to the bank? I need to grab some things anyways.” I nodded, thinking that I could get my questing gear as well. After all, it would make me stronger, right? We trotted off into the street, weaving through the crowd. When we went across the river, we saw two boys on a dock arguing. “I heard there were huge fish that could walk on land and eat people!” “You’re making that up.” I laughed, thinking back to when I first came here. My laughter died as I thought on it more. I’m really in here… probably for good. But, in all honestly, do I want to leave…? Not really. Life had been going pretty good since I entered the game. Even though it hadn’t even been a full day yet, things were looking up. I looked at my beautiful companion, who in turn was looking at the water. I still wasn’t sure whether it was sheer luck, or destiny. Nor did I care. Before I realized it, we were standing in front of the bank. I hopped off my mount, patting it on the side of the neck in thanks. It whinnied appreciatively. I waited while Kyli dismounted herself. I had noticed that even though she was mounted, Augustus followed by her side. I smiled at the friendship between the two. This time, Kyli took my hand and led me inside. The banker that I had seen the other day noticed me and called me over. Being the only one without a line, I was happy to oblige, bringing Kyli with me. The banker smiled cheerfully. “Quill! I was wondering when you would show up. Your new robes arrived!” What? The banker reached beneath the counter and pulled out the crystal I used to get into my bank. “I took the liberty of putting it in your bank. I hope it’s what you paid for!” What? I grabbed the crystal, not thinking about who my right hand was clenched onto. Both Kyli and I were instantly teleported into my bank. As soon as I realized it, my face took on an apologetic look. “Oh, I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking…” Kyli smiled. “It’s alright. After all, we haven’t had much privacy…” She pulled me closer into a tight embrace, her chest pushing against mine. I wrapped my arms around her, taking in her scent. Whether I hadn’t noticed it before, I’ll never know, but she smelled faintly of blueberries. Good thing I love blueberries. She pulled her head back, but didn’t release the hug. I did the same, looking into her faintly glowing eyes. She smiled, blushing faintly. As I was about to lean in, she surprised me by kissing me, pressing her lips to mine before I had a chance to realize what she was doing. Her lips felt indescribably soft, I must not have noticed the first time due to all the adrenaline pumping through me. We kissed softly as I rubbed her back gently. We pulled away, smiled happily at each other. After a minute, I pulled away. “As private as this is, the banker will be expecting us back soon…” Kyli giggled. “I know.” A moment’s pause. “Is that your new set of armor?” I looked in the direction she was, and saw something that had not been there the first time. It was my questing set’s headpiece. But with a matching set. Since when can you just buy that? The entire set was a mix of white cloth and gold trimmings. The hat was completely white, looking much like that of a witch’s hat, the brim being a diamond shape. On the tip of the hat was a gold cover, and on either side were two sets of gold latches. The latches were present all over the outfit, looking like two gold diamonds connected by a thick line of gold, with two silver dots in the center of each diamond. Upon closer inspection, most of the dots were buttons. The mask had a gold trim on the top, the front being white, while the back was a grey layered piece, likely for support. On the front, there were two gold latches, likely holding it together. The shoulderpads were much like triangles leading off of the shoulder. The base had a gold trimming, along with the middle. The middle gold strip had silver studs along it, and the very outer edge of the triangle was a silver edge. The inside of it was white. The front of the robes was completely white, turning into the grey pattern along the sides. Down the front of the robe were multiple gold latches, being a signature point of the set. There were no latches on the back, just carefully designed gold trims. The sleeves were rather loose, having three gold latches on the outside of each arm. A half circle of the grey design sat just above the end, and gold trimming lined it. The gloves were white up to the knuckles, with gold lining them and silver studs on each knuckle. The fingers were made up of the grey material. The belt had a gold lining on both top and bottom, with white in the middle and studs all the way around. The buckle was a simple silver circle, with two wave designs on it. The bottom of the robe looked like pieces sown together, with gold lining separating them all. “Yep. That’s it.” I smiled to myself. Either Quill bought this on his own, or I just got some dumb luck. Knowing what’s happened so far… I glanced at Kyli. I’d go with the latter. I turned to Kyli, who was still holding her equipment. “Do you mind changing in here?” As I had guessed, she blushed and shook her head. I grinned. Once we had both changed, we took a look in the mirror. Since when did I have a mirror in here? My outfit looked better than I had expected. On me, the only visible skin was a thin line for my eyes. Otherwise, I was completely covered. I could breathe fine though, it wasn’t stuffy at all. I also felt incredibly stronger then I had then my Incarnate set. Kyli looked just as good if not better then she had when I first saw her. I smiled, invisible due to my mask. She turned to me. Even though she couldn’t see my smile, I was sure she could see the light in my eyes. She took a few steps closer to me and pulled an arrow out of her repaired quiver. Pointing it towards my mask, she quickly brought it down. To my surprise, my mask separated, neither of the latches being broken. Before I could react, she leaned in and kissed me again. Once again that amazing feeling washed over me. We kissed multiple times before a long, lasting embrace. Life is good…
