For those of you who have read this far of my Alistair perspective, I hope you are greatly enjoying it. Trust me the steamy bits are coming. Please review or rate so I know how I am doing. We were able to save First Enchanter Irving and bring back order to the tower. With the mages now saved from destruction, we have their promise to help us against the Blight. Rose had been smart and had collected along the way random items, that though we didn’t need, she sold to the merchant that worked with the Templars for a nice sum. As we rode back across the lake, I saw in the moonlight , despite being covered in gore, how it illuminated Rose’s face. Her waving light gold tattoos on her face gave contrast, so making her face glow around the designs. Her green eyes added emeralds to the picture. She had a large grin on her face, though she was fighting. She was bantering with Leliana about who was a better shot with a bow at the stern. Though Rose didn’t use it primarily, her archery skills were impeccable. Morrigan sat silently beside them in the boat, with a smile on her face that I found down right creepy. That witch gets under my skin just being in proximity, but Rose likes her for some reason. Then again Rose likes most everybody. Sten stood in the center of the boat like a statue, with Bucky keeping him company. Sten rather liked the dog, maybe because he fought as good as any fighter and didn’t talk. Wynne walked up to me sitting at the bow of the boat and started to talk, “Ahh lake Calenhad is always a sight to see at night, there is always something to catch the eye.” “Umm, yeah yes… who doesn’t like seeing a full moon? Well maybe werewolves, but I hear they are just fairy tales.” I replied, having a sneaking suspicion that she caught me staring. “Ahh you are right, the moon is a beautiful sight, but those that it shines down on cause one pause as well.” She chuckled, as I know she saw my face start to turn red. She continued, “Well enough of the philosophical, so I wondered how long you have known your comrades in arms? I remember meeting Rose at Ostagar.” “Well, Sten and Leliana we met in Lothering, so approximately two weeks or more. Morrigan we picked up in the Wilds so over three. I met Rose at Ostagar as well, well of course and her dog.” “I find that interesting, since you and Rose fight together as if you have known each other for much longer. Paired fighting like that I have only seen from the practice of many years. Morrigan says you are the eldest Grey Warden, but don’t take the command. I don’t mean to pry but just find it curious, you don’t have to answer.” I glowered that Morrigan had started up that only joke again, but Wynne seemed to be a much kinder sort so answered truthfully in kind. “When we narrowly escaped Ostagar, I was a mess from the loss of all the Grey Wardens I had come to know, especially Duncan. Rose didn’t wake up for days from her injuries, and I prayed to the Maker every hour that she would wake and survive. With all that, I fell apart and couldn’t really function myself, much less gather an army. When Rose woke, I was so happy but I encouraged her to make the decision of what to do next. She helped me out of my depression and lead us out of the Wilds and Lothering, saving us all from the darkspawn. After that I saw no need to change a system, when it isn’t broken. “ Wynne had listened quietly and replied, “I think you would do fine with leading a group. However, you would do much better with a partner to help you. Rose doesn’t lead alone. I have barely been with your group, but I see how she leads with your help. Just something to think about.” She looked over to Rose, who was leaning over the side of the boat, letting the wind blow in her face. “She is a rare person, and in a world of a Blight, I find it best to speak one’s thoughts since time is a gift.” Wynne looked at me with a knowing smile and went to sit along the middle of the boat. I looked over to Rose, who had her eyes closed as she put her face towards the wind. I walked over towards her and spoke quietly, “You keep that up and I might start seeing you more as a pirate than a Grey Warden.” She replied with her eye remaining closed, “Mmmmm, that is career plan number 2. You know, just in case I am just not cut out for Grey Wardening. I was thinking about being a court jester, but I believe you out qualify me for that position.” “Oh no, if you are set on being court jester, I will just have to give you private lessons.” “Private lessons you say, what would these involve with just you and me?” “Ah the jester’s code, that’s for me to know and you to find out.” “Alistair, after meeting all those Templars in the Circle tower, I am now surprised how comical and light hearted you came out to be. Speaking of that, with you living with Templars most of your life have you never…” Ok, so if she is going to ask that question, I am going to have some fun. “Never what? Had a good pair of shoes?” “You know what I mean.” “No dear lady, I don’t think I do. Ate jellied ham?” “Come on, you know.” “No, no um… let me think… Ever licked a lamppost in winter?” “Ahh now your just making fun of me.” “Me make fun of you, dear lady? Perish the thought. So have you ever licked a lamppost in winter?” Watching her blush was so adorable. She replied, even though she was having a hard time making eye contact, “No, I have never licked a lamppost in winter.” This sort of surprises me in that I imagine in Highever she had to be the target of many men’s affections with how beautiful she is. “Well, good I hear you may lose half your tongue. As for me, I haven’t licked a lamppost in winter. I have never had the pleasure, though I have definitely thought about it.” “Never had the chance?” “Well living in a Chantry is a rather disciplined life. I was raised to be a gentleman, especially around beautiful women such as yourself. That’s not so bad, is it?” Rose again looks towards her boots and say, “You think I am beautiful?” I cup her chin in my hand, looking into her eyes. I reply in a laughing manner, “Of course you are and you know it! You’re ravishing and resourceful and all those other things you would love to beat me for, for not saying.” She leaned her cheek into my hand, “I would never hurt you.” “Nor I you.” We stood so close now, that my heart started to race, her eyes so mesmerizing and her small red lips so inviting. “Oh look we have made it to shore. Must get on before your risqué talk causes my ears to blush.” She smiled and shook her head. Bucky being excited to get off of the boat, ran forward and jumped from the bow to land. After we all had gotten on shore, Rose suggested, “ Everyone, I don’t know about you, but I am tired. So tired that being in a tent with no hot water sounds terrible. So if you would like, we could all stay at the Spoiled Princess here.” She was answered by hearty cheers of agreement, even a “That would be most satisfactory.” out of Sten. We all piled into the Spoiled Princess inn and got a good tankard of mead to start settling in for the night. Rose bartered with the innkeeper since she would be filling almost every room in the place until they reached a fine agreement which also included the ale. Good thing we don’t have a dwarf in our group or the final price of ale consumed would have tripled. I went off to see about some hot water. Luck was with me in finding that they had a hotspring behind the inn that was supplied by the lake. Apparently the mages had made it with magic as an act of goodwill for any innkeeper to live so close to the Circle. I piled my armor and undercloths neatly in stack. The second I was only in my skin, I ran and jumped into the pool. The water was amazing, not too hot but perfect to relieve the soreness from fighting over 8 hours through the Mage’s Circle. I swam about and washed off, which felt amazing to see my skin again under all the filth. I saw an alcove nearby, that bubbled from below. I swam and explored it to see that it had a shelf where one could sit. Once I sat and put my arms back, my exhaustion came on me in full force. I thought I would just rest my eyes for a moment. The warmth felt so good and there is no danger here.
