As the two returned to clock town, they were met by one of the guards at the gate. "Hey! don't you know it's dangerous to wander out into Termina field without a weapon? Stay in town unless you want to end up as monster food!" He remarked, being rather racist. When they got to Link's house, the Imp smiled.
"Don't worry! I'm sure it'll be fine." the Imp said as Ester rang the doorbell. there was a crashing sound and some cursing and something was said about "Idiots who wake people up at three in the morning" as Link opened the door. he looked down at the Deku scrub in front of him and almost immediately said, "Don't tell me the mask is working again!"
"Yeah, umm... we thought you might be able to remove it." the impish creature said, popping out of Ester's shadow. This didn't appear to phase Link, but then again, with all he's been through, it wasn't that shocking that he didn't react. Link sighed. "Let me guess... Partners on some quest of sorts?" He smiled, his eyes going distant for a while. When he was finished thinking, he continued "I do know of a way to get the mask off. Just play this song," He handed them a piece of paper. "With this instrument." he said handing her a small ocarina with a symbol of the Triforce engraved into it. then he looked thoughtful. "If the masks are working again, that means something bad is going to happen. Now the question is... what exactly is it? Well whatever it is, I would suggest you keep the mask with you and go to Kafei to explain the situation. also, you may want to talk with Jim's son. he's the current leader of the bombers and he might have something that will help you out. Now if you'll excuse me," Link let out a yawn. "I'm going back to bed."
They heard him mutter something about his own quest with someone named tael as he went back inside. "So what's so special about that silly little ocarina?" the Imp asked as he inspected the little instrument that Deku Ester was holding.

Ester was surprised at the guard as she was nudged back into the gates. She might have turned back and yelled at him, but what could a puny little wood person do?
Back at her home, she fidgeted. What was her father going to say after she had torn open the package and used the contents? She let out a sigh, summoning her courage and rang the doorbell. Everything went so quickly that she could only stare with her nozzlelike mouth open. Once the door was shut again, she finally regained her voice. "He... didn't recognize me..." At once she began smiling wide and bouncing about. "Yes! Yes! I'm not in trouble!"
After her temporary celebration, she looked at the ocarina she held in her hand. "I remember this, my dad would play it sometimes. A song is supposed to take this thing off?" Holding it with both hands, it suddenly glowed and turned into a tuba-like instrument with at least five horns. "Woah!" She stumbled from its heavy weight suddenly on her shoulders, but managed to stay upright. "Ok, show me that music!" Looking at the piece of paper, she played the notes.
In a flash of white light she was back, holding the ordinary ocarina. Slowly she looked down at herself, then let out a cheer. "Great! Now, we probably shouldn't go see Kafei.... he might get mad at me too, but we can probably see Jim's son."

"Yeah, yeah! where did this other mask come from though?" the Imp asked holding up two masks. one was the same Deku Scrb mask from before, while the other was a wooden mask that resembled Ester's face, and was creepily accurate with it's detail. "Hmmmm...." the Imp thought out loud. "I wonder...."
Before he could do anything, however, Link came back outside and said "I almost forgot to tell you two something. And this stays between us, alright? Those masks... there's one I was never able to get my hands on no matter what I tried. It's in the Zora hall, though. if you can figure out a way to breath underwater, then I am willing to bet an opportunity will present itself." at the shocked look on Ester's face, he chuckled. "What? you honestly thought I wouldn't recognize my own daughter?" he took out a mask of his own that resembled his own face and winked. "How do you think I got this? Now then, the sun will be up soon. I'll call Jim and tell him you need to speak with James. He should be able to help you gather the masks you need for your friend there, And I happen to know what the package for the Gorons is, so go get it from Kafei and I'll get to work on a replacement for the Deku Palace's gift."
He turned to walk into the house, then looked over his shoulder. "Oh, and Ester... heroism is a lucrative business, so do try and find a better sword." chuckling, he said a final "Good luck!" and shut the door.
As the sun began to rise, The Imp sunk back into Ester's shadow and said "Let's just go see this James kid and ask him what he can do to help." then he mumbled "Why can't it be dark all the time?"

Ester stared, puzzled at the sudden appearance of the new mask, when the door swung open. She whipped around, a terrified look on her face. She winced, preparing herself for the lecture of the lifetime. Except it never came. She stared on in surprise when he pulled out a mask of his own face.
Once the door slammed shut once again, the girl simply gawked, her mouth agape again. She was silent for the longest time, but she finally snapped out of it. "Wow, uh... ok. We should get going..." She started into the town square after putting the two masks into her knapsack. "So, mind explaining to me why you can't be in sunlight. Plus, I never got to hear your name..."
