Disclaimer: This story was made for fun and definitely NOT for making profit or money out of it. Trust me, Mina only sees writing as a hobby and her passion. More important, I do NOT own King of Fighters. |
Alright, it's already chapter 6th. Hmm, to be honest wanted end this project after this chapter. But! But decided to make this into serial after all ^^ *sigh* cannot leave this unfortunate soul suffer forever (even if it would have more dank color later on xD ) So, cannot calm down until someone finds him and brings back from white coffin in which he is.... And feel free to think this as practice, dear reader ^^ It seems that during the writing, I learned something new as well. So, thanks to one person, now I could at least have a minimum understanding about CBRN. Anyway, like always, enjoy your stay~

Okay, as usual after publishing a new one-shot, I've decided to rewrite this chapter as well. Yup, now, I can, finally, rest in peace knowing that Act 1 is rewritten ~
So, as always,
Enjoy!~

Meanwhile, inside the NESTS spaceship.
Right now, even the brunette’s once lively eyes are empty and dull, staring into nothingness.
Is it, finally, over? Yet, will it change anything? Kusanagi wonders as his vision becomes blurred and dim while he lies on his stomach like a broken rag-doll and respiring.
Suddenly, Kyo quietly whimpers as something is pulled out from his entrance, and feeling a white, thick liquid leaking out of him.
Does he feel any shame or disappointment in himself? Yes. Or at least the remains of it.
However, thanks to this awful experience, most of his senses and emotions became numb.
Despite this, he can feel his face wet from tears and sweat.
Did he cry all this time? In the end, it doesn’t really matter anymore. It makes the brunette more pathetic than he ever was before.
Even his own body doesn’t listen to him anymore or have the will to move a single muscle.
But for now, as the vines around his hands loosen, Kusanagi only sighs.
Perhaps the ferocious creature that assaulted him has calmed down.
After all, the squid-like monster already neutralized its victim. So, there is no need to torment its prey or fight back.
Of course, Kyo gathers all his remaining strength and uses this as his chance to escape.
More so, he cannot only lie down like this while the junior soldier might be, in the best case, in critical condition.
Therefore, there is a hope that Shingo might be still alive!
Hell, it might be too late for him. But, at least, let this rookie survive and return safely. That is what he wishes for. Kyo thinks to himself while stretching his arm and sighing with his fingers twitching.
In any case, when this kiddo returns, he should keep Yagami busy and maybe let him get over Kyo’s disappearance.
After all, knowing the redhead, he will probably try to destroy the entire base of the Resistance Force if he becomes furious.
However, there are only two people who can over-talk and calm him down, no matter what may happen. One is Kyo, while the other is the same medic who has enough patience to take care of their wounds to cool down these two stubborn idiots and remind them of their place.
That’s right, if anyone can stop Iori when Kyo is gone, that is Chizuru who has become like a big sister to them.
But for now, with that in mind, Kyo manages to put his last effort to move with an exhausted smile on his face.
Soon, the gray organic vines wrap around his legs and drag him close to the squid-like creature’s mouth.
Finally, the unearthly being opens its vertical mouth and slowly starts swallowing its food.
Is this the end of this Resistance soldier? Will he be devoured by this creature?
Yet, instead of struggling, Kyo accepts his bitter fate. After all, there is no reason for him to be alive.
Thus, the fallen soldier’s feet, ankles, legs, torso, and eventually entire body reaches the monster’s stomach, and it closes its mouth.
It’s so warm inside the monster’s belly. So warm and tight. Yet, even these slimy sounds don’t scare the brunette anymore.
Perhaps because of a somewhere echoing distant, rhythmic heartbeat that strangely calms Kyo and makes him relaxed.
Eventually, he slowly closes his amber eyes while listening to it.
An unknown amount of time has passed. For sure, after being inside this monster, Kyo has lost the sense of time along the definition of it.
Just how much time has passed? An hour or two? Maybe days or months? Perhaps just mere minutes?
It feels like an eternity or more like a dream. However, the brunette doesn’t want to wake up from it or worry about the outside world.
Besides, nothing matters to him anymore. Right now, it’s only him being carried away from any pain or suffering before he rests in peace.
Is this how a child feels inside their mother’s womb? Maybe. Maybe not. But one thing is for sure, nothing lasts forever like this sweet illusion before meeting one’s demise.
Suddenly, the unearthly beast lets out an eery scream, followed by the loud splashing.
Thus, the first thing that Kyo feels is the coldness, which returns him to reality and makes him gasp.
Even when he lies outside the dead creature in the same spot, he cannot comprehend what happened.
However, the brunette is too weak to move while remaining under the spell of the perished outer space being.
A second later, he notices he is in the same room and is surrounded by the bunch of scattered remains of the unfortunate creature.
Secondly, as he barely lifts his head, he can see that there are at least a couple of people around him who wear black boots and white CBRN suits.
Without wasting time, these people lift Kusanagi by his hands and feet and transfer him into stretchers.
For sure, the chilliness of the rubber gloves is not the most pleasant sensation, but it’s bearable.
A second later, a material is spread and covers his body.
Later on, the brunette realizes it is a thin, cold blanket. Yet, eventually, his body gets used to it and warms up.
Despite that, he feels uneasy when these people with gas masks are silent.
Not even exchanging words or gazing at each other. The only sound surrounding this room is the emotionless breathing through gas masks.
‘Please. Even a single word or gesture will do. Just don’t ignore me.’ Kyo begs inside his head.
Maybe the Resistance Force sent them to rescue him after hearing that sound transmission. If so, that is pretty quick.
To think of, how did they make it? There is no way that the rescue squad used the teleport.
The Resistance Force doesn’t possess such an expensive technology yet. Or could it be - someone has been sent to check on Kyo and the junior soldier during their mission? Beats him… The brunette wonders.
Suddenly, he gets alerted.
Something is wrong.
After leaving this room, he notices another couple of people wearing the same color CBRN suits waiting for them outside.
However, they hold the most recent machine guns while standing and ignoring Shingo’s close presence.
Soon, this couple joins the same people who carry Kyo.
‘Why did they leave Shingo behind? At least they could have checked if he had a pulse, or he breathes and his irises reflexes. So why did they ignore and leave him?’ The brunette becomes more concerned while wondering.
Finally, Kusanagi realizes that the individuals in question were not dispatched by the Resistance Force.
Even if they can afford to buy these hazmat suits, they are in light green.
So, who are these people? Where are they taking him? Could it be - that the Imperial Army sent them to raid this spaceship, and Kyo got in their way and, now, will be captured as a war prisoner? Kusanagi ponders in rising fear while having so many unanswered questions.
Despite that, as Kyo is carried, he notices that Shingo’s body slides down until it reaches the ground. Lastly, behind the younger soldier’s head are long blood traces on the wall.
Meanwhile, Kusanagi feels bad for his fallen comrade and immediately looks away while letting out quiet whimpering noises.
It’s simply too much for him to handle.
Good half an hour has passed. Finally, Kyo notices an enormous spaceship. However, even he can tell that it’s not the Resistance’s.
So, what will happen to him? Will he be killed immediately and become a mere showcase? What if they find out that he is not an ordinary civilian?…
But Kyo refuses to think about it any further and takes it as his punishment for his carelessness, even if he is afraid to die.
In the end, the brunette slowly loses consciousness again and falls asleep without even realizing that this is only the beginning of the nightmare.
