Axel’s POV
“Fuck, it’s cold” I frowned, cursing this damn weather. It had been getting progressively colder for the last few weeks but today it had started snowing. And when I say snowing, it was practically a blizzard. “I hate December” I grumbled to myself. I continued to struggle onwards against the ice cold wind. The snow had started melting on my boots, making my feet wet and cold, almost to the point of numbness. Finally I had reached the bookstore that Roxas worked at. Hurriedly I pushed the door open and sighed in relief as the warmth from inside the shop hit me suddenly. Looking around the shop there was no one to be seen. Adjusting my hat I walked over to the checkout and rang the bell.
“Hello?” I called out. “Roxas, are you here?” I heard some fumbling around in the back section of the shop followed by a thud.
“Ow” I heard Roxas moan faintly. “I-in here!” he shouted back.
I made my way to the back room and was met by Roxas sat on the floor with a rather annoyed expression on his face, surrounded by a heap of books.
“What happened?” I asked him amusedly.
“You happened that’s what! I was on the ladder when you shouted for me and I fell off, I almost had a heart attack!” He struggled out as he began standing up. “It’s been dead in here all day, so I wasn’t expecting anyone to scare me”
“Oh so you forgot about lunch then?” I asked feigning hurt.
“No, I just… I thought with the weather this bad, you’d not bother coming all the way here just for me”
I laughed and lightly flicked his forehead making him flinch. “I made a promise, and I don’t break promises” I grinned at him, making him blush.
“You really didn’t have to come down here though, it’s below zero out there and you look absolutely frozen…”
“I’ll be fine” I retorted.
“Yeah, but…”
“Roxas, I’m fine” I assured him. “Now, how about we clean up the mess you made here, and then we can get some food!”
—
“I didn’t think the weather was this bad” Roxas spoke, voice muffled by his scarf as he waded through the snow beside me.
“Yeah, apparently we’ll have about 10 inches of snow today and that could increase by tomorrow.” I replied. Finally we arrived at the café, but that was just as dead as the bookshop. I reached for the door and pushed it open letting Roxas in first.
As soon as we entered the blonde girl who served us last the time we were in here, Rikku if I remember correctly, walked over to us.
“I’m sorry guys but the power is out, we can’t serve anyone” She said apologetically.
Roxas and I looked at each other. “Huh… guess lunch is out of the question then” I spoke up.
“I’m sorry” The girl said again. “Apparently all of downtown is out too; you guys would be better off going home and sitting this one out”
“Ok, thanks anyway” Roxas said as we left. “So what do we do now?” He turned to me, his eyes peeking up from underneath his hat.
“Go home I guess. I really want to change these clothes, I’m freezing”
“I told you, you shouldn’t have come. It would have saved you a whole lot of trouble” The shorter man chastised me. But I just smiled and shook my head.
“Look I’m just happy being around you. Even if it is in sub-zero temperatures” I said, nudging him lightly. Roxas remained silent as a red tint crossed his cheeks.
After a few minutes of walking in silence I noticed Roxas’ walking had began slowing down. Looking at him confusedly I realised something wasn’t right. “Are you ok?” I asked, walking over to him cautiously.
“Y-yeah” He stuttered out, looking a little faint.
“Are you sure, you’re not looking too good”
“M’just a little dizzy is all, it happens all the time when it’s so cold” He brought his hand up and rubbed the heel of his palm on his forehead.
“C’mon” I ordered as I grabbed his hand pulling him closer to me.
“What are you doing” he asked confusedly.
“I’m going to carry you the rest of the way. Get on my back”
“Are you crazy, I’ll be fine” He argued back.
“Yeaah… you do realise that you’re swaying side to side, right?” I cocked an eyebrow at him. “Now no more arguments and climb on.” I kneeled down in front of him and extended my arms behind me ready to hook them underneath the blonds’ legs.
I could hear the snow crunching behind me, indicating that Roxas was moving. Feeling his hands press down on my shoulders I braced myself for his weight. Grabbing his legs, I stood up with a grunt. For some reason I half expected him to weigh practically nothing. “Jeez Roxas, someone’s been at the cakes” I heard him gasp before he hit me on my shoulder.
“I didn’t ask for you to pick me up…” He grumbled next to my ear, his warm breath making me shiver internally. Standing up straight I adjusted his weight, causing him to hold onto me tighter. “Don’t drop me!” he cried, but I just laughed.
“I’m not going to drop you” I chuckled lightly as I felt Roxas relax against me.
“How are you so warm?” he asked resting his chin on my shoulder.
“I warm?” I replied with a small smile. “I don’t feel warm”
“Hmm… I feel sleepy” he yawned, pressing himself closer against my back.
“Well if you do fall asleep, don’t drool on my coat. It was expensive” I didn’t get a reply, the only thing I could hear was the steady rhythm of Roxas’ breathing.
—
Finally I’d gotten both of us home safely. Albeit with a little bit of difficulty, but it was nothing that I couldn’t handle. Roxas had stayed asleep the entire way home which was rather remarkable. I had no idea he was such a heavy sleeper. I looked nervously at the flight of stairs I had to climb. I couldn’t do it with Roxas’ dead weight on my back. Begrudgingly I woke Roxas up by lightly shaking one of his arms that was wrapped loosely around my neck.
“Roxas… you wanna wake up, Buddy?” I spoke quietly. He stirred on my back. Taking in a deep breath his arms tightened slightly around me, but just as quickly relaxed again. “Come on Blondie, it’s time join the land of the living” He nestled his face in the crook of my neck and shook his head a little.
“Don’t wanna” he mumbled. I laughed and shook my head. I let go of his legs slowly to set him down easily. As much as I liked him he was damn heavy and I wasn’t about to bust my back because of him. Once Roxas was on his feet again he lazily stretched and rubbed the sleep from him eyes.
“Sleep well?” I asked amusedly.
“Very” he spoke mid yawn. “You’re like a human hot water bottle”
“I’m warm and squishy?” I asked with a confused expression.
“Pretty much” He nodded with a small smile.
“Whatever…” I laughed causing the younger man to laugh as well. It was then that I realised his laugh was intoxicating. I don’t know how to describe it. He also did the cutest faces when he laughed. He’d scrunch up his nose, tilting his head at the same time. I then suddenly became aware that I was staring at him with a stupid smile on my face. Awkwardly I rubbed the back of my neck and looked away from him. “We should, uh… get changed into warmer clothes” I nodded to myself mostly. “I’ll see you later?”
“O-ok, yeah that’s probably a good idea. Later”
Waving a goodbye to the blue eyed man I retreated up the stairs to my apartment.

Roxas’ POV
When I got to my apartment it was dark, eerily quiet and freezing. I’d sort of gotten used to my dampened clothes temperature so I wasn’t very keen on getting out of them, but I knew I had to for my own health. I slid off my trainers and felt my way to my bedroom. Walking cautiously so as not to trip over anything on the floor.
Once I was in my room I crawled over my bed to the curtains and pulled them open to let in the light from the moon. It wasn’t much brighter but it was better than nothing. I slid out of my coat and quickly pulled my shirt over my head. The cold air hit my chest immediately. It felt like when you get into a swimming pool for the first time and the water is freezing. And the only thing you feel like you can do is fight for your breathe.
“F-fuck” I cursed, instantly wrapping my arms around my torso. I quickly walked over to my dresser and tossed out items of clothing until I found a large warm sweater. I pulled it on in a hurry and began rubbing at my arms in an attempt to warm the oversized item of clothing quicker. Once my upper half was warming up I looked through another draw for some jogging bottoms, not really caring what type, just something made from thick or fleecy material, something that would keep me warm in this god forsaken power cut.
Once I found a pair I deemed good enough, I pulled them on too.
Heaving a sigh of relief I flopped on to my bed and huddled up into my blankets.
“Now what?” I thought aloud. I looked out of my window and saw the snow continuing to fall. I narrowed my eyes at the wretched weather. It just wasn’t letting up. But hey, I might get a few days off work from it.
I heard a knocking on my door, and I instantly knew who it was. I quickly sprung from my bed but my legs were tangled up in my blankets, causing me to fall heavily on the floor, banging my knee in the process. “owowowow” I groaned rubbing the affected area.
Heaving myself up, I hopped to the front door. I opened the door and saw Axel grinning at me.
“You ok?” he asked once he saw I was still rubbing at my knee.
“Yeah, I just fell off of my bed” I explained as I stepped aside for him to enter.
“What? How…? You know what…? I don’t even want to know” He laughed as he walked past me, making sure to muss up my hair as he did so.
Walking his way across the living room he sat on the couch with a grunt. “Sucks having no electricity don’t it?” he spoke as he picked up the TV remote, pressing a few buttons to check if it was working on the off chance.
I walked past Axel and went to the window opening the curtains there too, but it didn’t make much of a difference either. “Yeah” I agreed with him. “OH!” I cried as I ran to my bedroom to collect something. Upon emerging I held up my trusty torch. “I knew I had one of these for a reason” I winked at him lighting the device up and shining it briefly in his face. “And you laughed at me when I got it out when we first met”
I stood the torch up on its end so the light was shining on the ceiling, but still illuminating the space around it enough so we could now see things.
I made my way around the coffee table to the couch and sat next to Axel. Grabbing a cushion I propped it up against Axel’s side and lent against it.
“What should we do to keep occupied?” I asked the redhead, tilting my head back to look it him. He shrugged and placed his arms on the back of the couch.
“Maybe play a game?” he suggested.
“Like what?” I asked with an almost sour face.
“I don’t know… I spy?” He laughed.
I furrowed my brows and huffed. “That’s lame”
“You’re lame!” he countered. “Okay… uhm. Monopoly, everyone loves monopoly”
“I don’t have that game” I stated and I picked at my sweater.
“What? Everyone has that game… you’re so weird, Roxas” He exclaimed with an incredulous look on his face.
I rolled my eyes at him and leant against the cushion harder. “I have a pack of cards” I suggested.
“I don’t think strip poker is the best game to play right now, Roxas” He laughed wiggling his eye brows.
I slapped his arm lightly and sat up. “I wasn’t going to suggest that… oh forget it” I huffed sitting back against the pillow.
Axel sighed beside me admitting defeat on the game idea. But suddenly he made an ‘ah-ha’ noise and leant forward grabbing the torch from the table. “We could tell scary stories!” He exclaimed, holding the torch beneath his chin illuminating his face. “I’ll go first” he cleared his throat and pulled the hood on his sweater over his head as he hunched his shoulders trying to look sinister. “The last man on earth sat alone in a room… There was a knock on the door …”
“And then what?” I asked leaning forward slightly.
“That’s it…” he spoke sitting up straight, putting his hood down.
“Really?” I asked with a puzzled expression. “That was the worst scary story I’ve ever heard”
“Nuh-uh” he feebly argued back. “Imagine it. You, yourself, are the last man on earth and you knew that for a fact. Now imagine if one night you was minding your own lonely ass business when something or someone knocked on the door, wouldn’t you be freaked out?!”
“…” I thought about it for a moment. Okay so maybe it was a bit creepy, but I wasn’t going to let him know that. I simply settled for rolling my eyes.
“I thought so” He grinned, pushing my shoulder lightly. Heaving a sigh, Axel placed the torch back on the table. Upon sitting backwards he put his arms on the back of the couch again, this time letting one of his hands hover over my head. He began lightly stroking my hair, whether it was intentional or subconsciously I didn’t know. All I knew was that I wasn’t going to disrupt him, because the feeling of his fingers running softly through my side-swept bangs was sending tingles down my spine. “Hey…” he spoke, startling me a little. “Do you think I could see some of your paintings?”
My mind went blank. I froze; I even think I stopped breathing. “Uhm…”
“Aww come on. Seeing you painting last night just made me really want to see your work. Do you have them any of them here?” He asked me, fingers still stroking my hair.
“I have a few; none of them are finished though…” I explained quietly.
“That’s ok, I bet they still look great though” I could practically hear the smile on his face.
Closing my eyes tightly I took a deep breath and sat forward, forcing Axel’s hand to fall from my head. I turned to him, seeing his pleading eyes. The light from the torch shone on his face giving him an almost ethereal glow, making him that much more difficult to turn down.
“Fine” I said finally. I stood up from the couch, grabbing the torch as I went and walked to the spare room where I store all of my unfinished paintings. “Well are you coming or not” I poked my head out of the room, shining the light in Axel’s face. I saw him nod before he stood up and began walking towards me. Walking back into the bedroom I sat on the single bed, crossing my legs Indian style. Once Axel was in the room with me I passed him the flash light and pointed to an old mahogany chest. “They’re all in that ottoman there, they’re nothing special but I just can’t bring myself to scrap any of them” I shrugged. Axel walked over to the chest and opened the lid. Sitting on the floor in front of the wooden box he placed the bottom flashlight into his mouth so he could take out one of the paintings. Upon him lifting out the canvas I noticed it was a portrait I had started of Naminé when she was much younger. She was laughing in the painting, at what I’m not sure anymore, but her eyes were big and blue. A much deeper shade of blue than she had now. Her cheeks were rosy and her hair was tied in pigtails. I still had to paint the bottom of her face, neck and shoulders.
“Your sister?” he guessed, looking back at me. When I nodded he turned back around and looked at the picture some more. “I could tell that straight away, the family resemblance is uncanny. It’s the eyes more than anything, they’re the same shade” He stopped himself from talking abruptly and put the painting to one side. “Not that I look at your eyes long enough to know the shade of them” he grinned meekly, scratching the back of his head. I laughed at him, causing him to turn back around to fish out another canvas.
The next one he pulled out was much smaller. But I couldn’t get a good look at it from my position on the bed.
“Who’s this?” he asked as I walked over to sit next to him. Leaning over, I took the canvas from his hands and looked it over.
“That’s my dad” I stated, handing it back to him. “I drew those sketches of him when I was about fourteen. He begged me to keep them; he even hung it up on the wall in the family room. He never let me take it down. But when he… when he died, Mom said I could take it to keep”
“Wow fourteen, huh?” he smiled at me. “Your dad was a pretty good looking guy, you definitely take after him” he nudged my arm making me laugh.
“Stupid” I mumbled out.
The next few paintings that Axel pulled out were also of my father. In all of them he was smiling. His eyes closed tightly and his nose crinkled up. It was always how I remembered him, happy.
“You smile like him you know” Axel said out of the blue, making me look at him in confusion.
“I do?” I asked titling my head to one side.
“Yep, you both do that cute nose crinkly thing” he laughed.
“Oh… I never noticed” I smiled.
“See! Right there!” Axel exclaimed pointing to my nose.
“Ok, stop pointing, you’re making me self conscious!” I moaned as I covered my face. Grinning he ruffled my hair and delved into the chest once more. This time the painting he got out was of my mother, father, and me. It was almost finished but again I just never got around to it. In the painting my dad was holding me as a baby. My arms were outstretched as if reaching for my mom, who was pregnant with Naminé at the time. I’d always meant to finish this picture. It wasn’t as if I’d worked from a photograph. Most of my paintings were straight from my imagination, but this one I’d meant to complete for my mother’s birthday several years ago.
“This one is great, Roxas” Axel commented as his eyes roamed over the details on the canvas. “Seriously…” He looked me in the eyes at this point “You have some amazing talent there Roxas”
“Thanks…” I spoke above a whisper. My face beaming from the compliments he was giving me.
“Hey, what were you painting yesterday?” He asked intrigued.
“Oh you know… boring stuff” I said offhandedly as I stood up from my position on the floor. I began picking up my paintings to put back for safe keeping, hoping that Axel would drop the question.
“Well can I see it?” He grinned at me, picking up a painting before I could.
“I don’t know, Axel…” I spoke making sure to avoid eye contact.
“Please” He stood in front of me forcing me to look at him.
Gesturing my head to the living room I spoke. “It’s on the easel by the window” He smiled at me and left for the other room. I immediately brought my hand to my face and covered my eyes. Why couldn’t I just say ‘no’ to him?
After a few moments I had at least expected some sort of a reaction from him, but there was nothing. Not a single peep from the other room. Cautiously I looked around the frame of the door and saw Axel looking intently at the painting before him. The torch illuminating the bright colours swept across the canvas.
“It’s…” he began. But I interrupted him before he could go any further.
“I’m sorry! I should have asked…”
“Roxas, this is…” he started again.
“Weird I know, I’m sorry” I covered my face with both my hands. “I’m a creep for painting you aren’t I? Just say it. Leave if you want! But anything is better than silence” I babbled with my eyes shut tightly.
“What? No… Roxas, it’s amazing. I mean… how did you even paint this?” He spoke looking back and forth between me and the painting a few times.
“You’re not mad?” I asked tentatively.
“No, I’m just… stunned. I’ve never once sat for this or anything, how did you do it?” He enquired again with a little more urgency.
“I paint from memory; it’s hard to ex…plain… you’re really not mad?” I asked once again to double check.
“Why would I be mad? I mean… not to blow my own horn or anything but I look amazing!” He gestured wildly to the canvas.
I heaved a sigh of relief, feeling all the tension from my shoulder suddenly evaporate.
“I do have one question though…” the red head before me started.
“O-ok…?”
“I know you don’t finish your paintings but could you possibly finish this one, for me?” He asked quietly.
I was slightly taken aback by his question. Not completely sure how to react I nodded quickly.
“I’ll even pay for it” he added as an after thought.
“N-no… that’s not necessary. I’d love to finish it for you” I smiled up at the man.
Suddenly the flash light began flickering. Lifting the small device up, Axel hit it lightly against his hand in an attempt to stop the light from going out. If anything it just made it worse. Finally the light died leaving us in darkness once more.
“You got any more batteries for this thing” Axel spoke up as he walked towards me.
“No actually. I usually have a stash of them round somewhere, but those batteries were the last ones, unfortunately” I admitted with a sigh.
“Ah…” Axel placed the dead torch on the coffee table before standing up straight and stretching. Faintly I heard the sound of his stomach rumbling. I laughed lowly to myself. “You heard that, huh?” he asked sheepishly.
“Yeah… I have some tinned food if you want that. Though, I don’t have much of a selection. Just beans or spaghetti-Os” I mumbled.
“I could eat cold spaghetti-Os” He nodded his head as he walked past me, finding his way to the kitchen.
Deciding I was actually still quite cold I went to my bedroom to get a blanket. I then promptly made my way back into the living room and ungracefully threw myself upon the couch. I heard the sound of a tin being opened at the other side of the apartment followed by a grunt from Axel as he turned the handle on the can opener. I snuggled up into the blanket and breathed in deeply. Being like this always reminded me of when I was younger when I would have sick days from school. I half expected my mom to just come by and feel my forehead to check if I was ok. Instead I just felt Axel slap my legs lightly, telling me to scoot up so he could sit down too. Once I’d made enough room for Axel to sit, I settled back down on the couch.
“You ok?” I heard Axel ask me around a mouth full of spaghetti.
“Hmm? Oh yeah… I’m just…I’m just feeling a little tired. I’m gonna rest my eyes for a bit” and within seconds I could feel sleep taking over me.
—
6 HOURS LATER
When I began to wake up I was a bit confused. The couch felt like it was moving. Placing my hand in front of me, I started to push myself upwards, but the surface my hand landed on wasn’t the couch. Opening my eyes wider I tried to focus my vision. Once I could see clearly I realised it wasn’t the couch I had been sleeping on. Axel was lay underneath me sleeping also. At some point during the night he must have fallen asleep and unconsciously I’ve found my way on top of him. My hand stayed on his chest, my fingers splayed out. Tentatively I stroked my hand across his sweater covered torso, feeling his muscles twitch ever so slightly in my fingers wake. I licked my lips, bringing my bottom lip in between my teeth, I softly bit down. Finally I brought my hand back to myself. I shouldn’t be doing this. He’s vulnerable and I’m taking advantage of the situation, it wasn’t right. Slowly I tried to shift my weight off of him, but was stopped when I noticed he hand his hand resting on my back. Subconsciously he tried bringing me closer to him. My breathing quickened. Unsure of what else to do I complied with the sleeping man’s unknown demands, and settled myself back onto his chest.
I lightly pressed my ear to his chest, I could faintly hear his heart beating, but it seemed to be going abnormally fast. Raising my head slightly I looked at his face, or what I could see of it and his eyebrows were furrowed together and his breathing seemed to be quickening. Suddenly He spoke.
“Roxas…”
My eyes widened. I swallowed the lump in my throat and continued to watch him.
“R-Roxas… Roxas…” he continued to say my name. Each time he said it with more urgency than the last.
I placed my hand on his chest and shook him slightly.
“Axel?”
“Roxas… please… RoxasRoxasRox…”
I could feel my face heating up at the way he whispered my name. Cautiously I moved closer to his face, cupping his cheek with one of my hands. When suddenly he yelled my name and sat up quickly, forcing us to bang heads with a thud.
I fell backwards on the couch and held my forehead with my hand. “Fuck…” I groaned.
“Shit! What the hell, man?!” Axel cried holding his head in the same way as I was.
“Wha-? You’re the one who head-butted me” I argued back. “What the hell were you dreaming about, anyway?!” I glared at him still rubbing my forehead.
“Huh?” He stopped and looked at me with a puzzled expression.
“You… you were saying my name… quite a lot actually” I admitted, feeling an all too familiar heat rise to my face.
“I dreamt that you left me… making me the last person on Earth… then I heard someone say my name and it freaked me the fuck out!”
My face blanked. I stared hard at him for a few seconds before I burst out into hysterics.
“Y-you gave your s-self nightmares from your own crappy s-scary story!” I laughed wiping away a stray tear from my eye. “You idiot”
Axel glared at me and crossed his arms, seemingly not too please with my reaction. Suddenly he poked me hard against my chest.
“That doesn’t explain why you were all up in my face” He added with random hand gestures to his own face.
It was then that I stopped laughing, unsure of how to answer him.
“I… Well…”
He raised his eyebrows at me as he waited for an explanation.
“Well I woke up to see my self sleeping on top of you, I tried to get off you but you ‘insisted’ I stay. When I lay back down you started calling my name, rather urgently I might add…” By this point I was completely red faced. “…I got worried about you so I tried waking you up, which explains why you heard someone calling you, and well the rest is history” I shrugged, trying to act nonchalant about the whole thing. “Though as an after thought, if you ever call my name again in your sleep try not to sound so…sexual about it next time. People might get the wrong idea” I half scolded him. Though I have to admit I found myself getting a little hot under the collar when he called my name.
“Did you?” he asked out of nowhere.
“Did I, what?” I wondered confusedly.
“Get the wrong idea” He replied, leaning forward only slightly. It was then that I realised how thankful I was for the power cut, otherwise he was sure to see the blush on my face.
“…W-wha- no… I mean, I know you wouldn’t mean to call out for me like that, you were unconscious at the time what does it matter?”
He hummed in response and lay back down on the couch. I released a breath I hadn’t realised I’d been holding.
“Roxas?” I heard him say my name quietly.
“Yeah?” I looked over in his general direction as I could no longer see him properly from his position.
“What time is it?” He enquired, rubbing his eyes.
Picking my phone up from the coffee table I pressed a button illuminating the screen. “Its ten thirty” I replied. “I didn’t realise we had slept for so long” We’d been asleep for almost 6 hours. We both must have been really out of it to sleep for that long.
“Do you want me to leave?” he asked seemingly timid.
“Not if you don’t want to” I responded to him. I felt him shuffle to a sitting position next to me, fingers lightly brushed against my own fleetingly.
Though I couldn’t see his face properly in the very little lighting we had from the window I could tell he wasn’t looking at me.
“I need some advice…” he began, eyes still connected to floor.
“Okay?” I replied uncertainly.
“If you really liked someone but you weren’t sure how they felt about you, what would you do?”
I wasn’t really sure what I would do. If I was anything to go by, I’d just keep quiet and not say anything for fear of rejection. But that clearly wasn’t the answer that Axel wanted right now.
“Hmm… Just tell them. If they were a good enough friend, I’m sure they’d understand. The feelings could be returned, but you’ll never know if you don’t say anything” Why was it so easy to give advice, but so hard to take it.
Finally Axel turned to look at me, leaning closer to me ever so slightly, he licked his lips. He seemed hesitant. And for this very reason my heart began to speed up.
“I like you, Roxas” he admitted and without any further warning he innocently pressed our lips together. There was no force behind it, just a simple touch. But I was too stunned to respond to his advances. He pulled back after a few moments and rested his forehead against my own. My breathing was verging on erratic; I had no idea how to react to this sudden development. Axel breathed out a laugh and placed his scarred hand on the back of my neck, his fingers stroking my hair. “I’m sorry” he apologised but he seemed reluctant to break away from the contact between us. I shook my head and cupped his face with both of my hands.
“Don’t be” I whispered before I connected our mouths again in another tender kiss. I smiled against his lips when I heard his breath hitch. Leaning into him, I snaked my hand around his neck and tangled my fingers up in his wild red tresses, tugging ever so slightly. Our breathing quickly became heavy even though the kiss was still nothing more than a simple touch of lips. His hand stealthily found its way under my sweatshirt, the cold appendage tracing small patterns over my back. I gasped at how cold his hand was and broke away from the kiss to let my head fall backwards. His mouth almost instantly attached itself to my neck. Sucking, licking, and nipping lightly, he made his way up my neck and around to my jaw. Up until now my mind had been a complete blank and my body just reacted on its own accord, regretfully I pushed against Axel’s chest indicating for him to stop.
“What’s wrong?” he asked breathlessly.
I bit my lip at the way his voice sounded, but shook my head to keep from going back into kissing him again.
“What brought this on… how long? I just…” I let my head read against his shoulder. “This is all happening way too fast” I mumbled against him.
He chuckled lowly and pushed against my shoulder so he could look at me, or as much as he could look at me in this darkness. “I’m sorry; I know it was sudden… I should have at least warned you, or better yet, let you process the information first” He apologised, bringing his hand up to rest on my cheek, the pad of his thumb brushing lightly over my skin. “I don’t know exactly how long I’ve felt like this but I finally realised my feelings yesterday. All I know is that I haven’t felt like this about anyone in a long time” He smiled resting his forehead against mine once again. “You make me feel good about myself, something that I’d never really felt with Larxene” I felt his fingers brush against mine and smiled when he began linking them together. “It was actually Larxene who made me see it. She sort of said that I liked you, even if I didn’t know it, and if it was any consolation that you liked me as well… you do like me as well don’t you?” He asked worriedly. I chuckled softly and nodded against him, causing him to release a sigh and smile. “Good” he grinned. He placed his hand to the back of my head and kissed my forehead softly. Lifting my chin, he brought his face close to mine and looked deep into my eyes. “We can take this as slow as you want, we have all the time in the world” he smiled at me.
“Ok” I replied, with a stupid grin on my face, it was all I could manage right now. At a loss of anything else to say I simply grabbed his hand and stood up.
“Or we could go as quickly as you like” He smirked, standing up also.
Turning around to him I narrowed my eyes. “Pervert” I chastised him “I’m going to bed, to sleep. You’re free to join me; I just decided it was better to sleep in a comfortable bed rather than a small couch” I pressed myself against his chest. “I want to take this slow. I don’t want to rush into anything that we might both regret. But for now, we sleep” Standing on my tip toes I kissed his cheek and began walking to the bedroom.
Once I was in my room I climbed into my bed, and promptly covered myself over. A few moments later I felt the bed dip behind me as Axel slid in.
