The 10 days that Banker was on vacation weren't wasted on Teller. Spending those days working alone without the stress of trying to make him happy and do everything he said felt a bit liberating. She had known these last several weeks had been hard on him but they had been hard on her too. Feeling a sadness and a stark disconnect from Banker, Teller decided that, while she didn't want to leave him or Stormwind now that she had been welcomed back by both.
She remembered the love she'd held for Banker when she'd been living and she still felt it now but she would not allow herself to be hurt anymore than she had been already by him and by Thassarian for doing this to her in the first place. The mistrust, confusion and down right contempt that she saw in Bankers eyes every time he looked at her cut her to the quick and if she couldn't make him love her then to hell with the notion all together, she'd make him beg for her instead.
With that thought in mind, the first of the walls of her heart were built.
When Banker returned to Stormwind early, he was surprised to see that Teller was not the soft spoken, broken spirited death knight he'd left. When he walked into their room at the Inn, she barely batted an eye and when he took her roughly into his arms, she slapped him full force across the face.Shocked, he held her at arms length, strong hands gripping her forearms tight enough to bruise her, had she been able to be bruised and shook her once, hard. “What in the hell do you think you're doing?”, he asked roughly.
“You want to handle me like I'm a toy, be prepared to get handled back...Banker..”, Teller responded, eyes flashing a warning.
“Well, that's a fine how do you do, I go on vacation and come back to a bitch”, he spat, pulling her to him and kissing her hard.
Shoving him back with surprising strength, she slapped him again only this time, as soon as the slap landed, she kissed him before he could react. Feeling her cool lips on his, blurred his focus and Banker almost felt as though she was weaving a spell over him but before he could get his bearings, Teller ended the kiss and shoved him away from her.
Looking at his stunned expression as he caught his balance, she said “ Better get ready for work.” and walked out of their room, slamming the door on him on the way out.
A week after returning from Gilneas, Banker was asked to work late and spent most of the evening in the counting house. As the clock in the Cathedral district struck 11pm, he decided to call it quits and packed up his briefcase and headed out the door.Locking up, he turned and made his way down the steps, pausing briefly to look at the unusually large full moon that was hanging low in the sky. As soon as his eyes locked on the moon, he felt the wound in his chest begin to heat up and then start to throb.
Heart rate quickening, Banker walked faster and had almost made it to the threshold of the Inn before the pain forced him to his knees. Screaming out in agony, it felt as if a creature was ripping and clawing at his insides, begging....straining for release. Writhing on the cobblestone path, the last thing he remembered before blacking out was terrible searing pain of something that felt like claws ripping out of his fingertips.
Waking up hours later, he was shocked to find that he was sprawled out on the street, clothing torn and drenched in sweat. Sore and shaken, Banker picked himself up off the ground and made his way into the Inn, Allison the Innkeeper looking at him nervously.
Climbing the stairs gingerly, he limped to his room to find Teller bathing in their wash tub, getting ready for an early start at the Counting house. Alarmed at the sight of him, she jumped out of the tub, splashing water all over the floor.Forgetting to put on a good front of fierce indifference, she crossed the room and grabbed his arm, her body still dripping with sudsy water, and helped him to the side of the tub. There she stripped him of what was left of his clothes, silently noting the bite on his chest as she helped him step into the water.
“ Ohhhh it's so hot,” Banker murmured as he sank down into the water. Deciding not to tell him that she had them give her such hot water was to help her feel warmth, she simply nodded in reply as she began bathing him. “ You ...you don't have to do this...”, Banker groaned as Teller climbed into the tub with him and began painstakingly washing his body, careful to not put any pressure on the bite mark he had on his chest.
Catching his eyes, she looked at him over the bubbles for a moment before silently shaking her head and continuing the chore. Understanding that she wasn't going to speak to him for whatever reason, Banker laid back and relaxed as much as he was able while she finished up washing him and then finished what was left of her own bath.
Glancing up at him as she finished washing her hair, she caught him looking at her with a peculiar look on his face. Breaking the eye contact first, Teller reminded herself that she put walls up around her heart for a reason and not to let him tear them down with a simple shared bath. Plus she had no idea where he'd gotten a bite like that and since he wasn't offering up explanations, she certainly didn't need to waste more compassion on him than she already had.
Banker laid his head back on the side of the wash tub and waited while Teller got out of the bath and wrapped herself in a towel. 'Man that is one amazing body she's got', he thought to himself as he watched her from the corner of his eye. Teller bent over, toweling off her shapely legs, unwittingly giving Banker a birds eye view of her nether regions. Smirking slightly, he continued to watch as she straightened up to her full height.Noting she was still as short as she'd ever been, standing at barely 5 foot 2, she was the picture of beauty. Shaking his head, Banker realized where his thoughts were headed and reigned them safely back in as she came towards him with a towel. Holding a hand out, she helped him up and out of the tub, wrapped him in the towel and turned her back to get dressed, leaving the chore of drying his body off to him.
Grimacing, he toweled off as best as he could, given his weakened state and tossed the towel over a rack as she turned back to hand him his clothes. “ I need to leave for work now, I assume that under the circumstances, you will be out today?”. Teller asked him softer than she'd meant to. Surprised by the softness in her voice, he answered in kind, “ Ah, no...I won't be into the office today.”
“Well then, do you need anything else from me before I go?”, Teller asked, hand on the knob, facing the door with her back to him. “No...no...thank you...” He muttered, still feeling the soreness of his muscles but embarrassed for a reason he couldn't seem to put his finger on. “Fine, I'll be off then,” Teller said, opening the door and stepping through it, shutting it soundlessly behind her.
For the next month, life for the two settled into a pace that they could live with. Keeping busy during the day, they didn't see each other much but they did stop to have lunch with each other on most days. The first several lunches were very quiet, with neither of them speaking to each other. The next several were spent insulting each other, trying each others patience and for some reason neither could quite figure out, trying their best to piss each other off. Slowly they began to shift their insults to the general population of townspeople and that's when they began to connect.
Turning their pain and bitterness on unsuspecting townspeople brought them together and they felt an odd bond forming, much to the chagrin of the Trade District. The pair of them quickly became two that everyone wanted to avoid and they got morbid satisfaction out of it.
About 30 days or so after Bankers “incident” in the alley, it happened again. He was coming out of the Auction House, taking steps towards the mail box to collect the family's earnings for the day when he glanced up and felt a sense of dejavu.
The moon hung full, looming over head like a beacon and he felt the pain begin to rip through his body, only this time he was able to withstand it and stayed conscious.
Fully understanding now, what had transpired when that bitch back in Gilneas had bitten him, Banker was livid.
Channeling his rage, he stuffed it down, knowing it was his own fault for sleeping with that tramp in the first place, he turned and walked into the Inn to see how Teller would handle it when she saw him. Stopping at the entrance to the Inn, he took a deep breath and then calmly walked past Allison, up the stairs and to the room he and Teller shared.
Opening the door, he stood in the doorway waiting. Teller turned from where she was at their table and starred at him, her icy eyes taking him in. So this was where the bite had come from she mused to herself. As she stared at him, his patience wore thin and he emitted a low growl, a warning for her to hurry up and say something already.
“Well you accepted me as a monster, you might as well come on in Banker”, Teller said, turning back to the papers she was finishing up with.
The worgen snarled at her in response and stepped into the room, slamming the door behind him.
