"we got order to capture Yuell. Thanks to the effort back at the Ashlone, Gallia decide to put more power to gain more momentum. Unfortunately it didn't occur to them they pulling many power from the critical position. Yuell is one of it"
"so what do we get if Yuell is reclaimed?" ask Gusurg
"Yuell is the only border city near the Imperial, should they reclaimed, we can gather more intel on Imperial movement. It is also noted that Yuell are source of many factory of ragnite. More to the medical use but because of that this city is still hold as vital"
Arriving at Yuell, they already see a lot of civil making camp outside of their own hometown. Ironic sight since the city they belong are no longer safe haven.
"from what people said, Imperial only occupy the city center and north but they may expand. they also told me some people might still trapped inside even though they clear from red zone because scared from stray bullet" said Riela
"civil too...damn. this won't be easy to open fire" said Kurt
"Kurt! you won't believe this!"
"Gusurg, what is it?"
"our updated order. they must be crazy"
Kurt open the letter "to squad 422 we devise a plan for infiltration...the plan is- no way! you sure this is legit?"
Gusurg nod "said he from HQ complete with order letter too"
"gather everyone" said Kurt frustrated
Kurt read the letter once again to his squad. The letter actually planning an infiltration. As usual, the 422 squad will be scapegoat but the thing that catch their nerve is they need to dress as civil to make a surprise attack.
"HQ must be blind or got no update" said Alfons
"why this cause problem by the way?" ask Annika
"well, there's this rule by the book when carrying a guns you see. we talking about military issued arms. any armed soldier must wear their sign of duty in the form of their uniform include badge. It will show you have a duty that require firearms. if you go off dress as civil run and gun with military issued arms, you didn't count as carry on duty...but terrorism" said Felix "come to think of it, the Imps may got confused and shoot blindly at us AND civil"
"i'm surprised you know that" said Giulio
"dude i maybe troublemaker but not lawbreaking that end up in shooting post" retort Felix
"so what do we do Kurt?" ask Riela
"we may need to improvise or ask around if there's really no one on the red zone"
At night outside of Yuell, 422 base camp.
"Kurt, we got a lead. some civil said there's really no one on the red zone since Imperial kick them out from their home before barricade the city" said Riela "and to add another good news, there's one medic in training who told me there's a small tunnel that reach back of her clinic" report Riela
"now that's something i want to hear"
"Kurt, may i ask something?"
"yes?"
"you...still feel bad about last mission did you?"
Kurt sigh "honestly i am. that's why i don't want to use the plan from HQ. i already let civil die intentionally with my own decision"
"but you don't have a choice that time"
"no. but i won't let civil die for the sake of mission twice..."
They decide to launch attack at blind of the midnight. The tunnel that apparently a sewer fortunately wasn't blocked with anything. But the smell got their nerve.
"if this disgusting tour end up on dead end, i lecture you very much captain" grunt Leila aka no. 23
"hey, if anyone make a goldbar joke, i shoot" said Giulio
"guys just keep moving, this smell got into my brain" mutter Anastagi
"Serge you okay?" ask Amy aka no. 15
"i am...i think. can we move little bit faster?"
As they exit the tunnel, their objective now is to drive the enemy out. Simply find the commander and break the chain of command. Unfortunately this mission got them without heavy armor.
"do we search and destroy or weapons free?" ask Anastagi
"first, if not, second on my command" said Kurt
While they at it, the engineer sabotage any tank and APC so they won't be moving in case the cover blown. Anastagi and Imca gain more moment in this kind of mission as killing in silent is their forte.
"never thought i gonna use that move outside of prison" said Anastagi
As the two keep their killing spree on the run, there is one person who appear to be on the night watch. Anastagi crawl closer to make the kill but not this time, the victim is awake and retaliate. so much for cover, Anastagi decide to use force.
"from your uniform...422?" ask the young man
"i am. nice to meet you. mind if i kill you?"
"try touch me" the man pull out sword
"ah, fellow fencer" Anastagi pull out his "make it exciting!"
Meanwhile, Imca were hiding to make way inside building. Some soldiers passing by and speak rather angrily. A tan woman with uniform with an emblem she familiar with. Raven.
"i can't believe it. first my big Echidna downed by civil, now we got refused to help because they blame our tech. i should be the one who drive that lovely in the first place. pfft, now they see why they so incompetent..."
"a Raven here?" thought Imca "it seems they were taking leave since they not needed. guess that's good thing. gotta report this to Kurt"
"...is that so? that's one less enemy we need to worry then" said Kurt
"yeah. and i think that big tank at magvel is not made by Empire but the Raven"
"what kind of soldier Raven consist of? we really left behind"
Their report got interrupted when they heard a loud siren.
"what the hell!? who got the trouble!?" ask Felix
"me and Valerie still safe" said Riela
"we also clear" said Alfons with Serge and Amy
"we still going too" said Annika with 03 and Leila
"Imca where's Anastagi?" ask Kurt
"he's with me but split up" said Imca
"find him, he might be in trouble"
Imca immediately set out to find her comrade but it didn't take long when she bump into him. He seems to be having a fight but no sign of critical wound.
"yo Ace. mind tell me what's going on?"
"you didn't trip the alarm do you?"
"no but i do fight with this powerful Raven. a fellow fencer guy. what on earth they doing here?"
"tch, does he report being attacked?"
"no that guy didn't reach his radio. he also told me they supposed to be Imps aid but kicked. he meant to leave but i got in the way, fight happen. your turn"
"someone trip alarm. our squad didn't trip any of it though"
"gotta be outsider. maybe they know about our way in and decide to go"
"probably, let's meet up with Kurt"
422 squad now in red zone, a hot zone to be exact since shot fired. When they check the situation, it's the regular army with their sheer of number storming at the center of town. Thanks to 422 sabotage, no heavy armor are moving to assist their enemy. Unfortunately the regular may not be informed about 422 existence as they fire at anyone. The result, Anastagi and Imca almost got shredded.
"bastard! we're on your side!" shout Anastagi
"there they are! they wearing black! those are Ravens!" shout one of them
"for shit sake! our uniform are to blame now!?" mutter Anastagi
"damn, we may cross fire each other like this" said Imca
"bloody hell it will"
The firing goes on. 422 do their best to avoid firing the friendlies even though they were mistaken for Ravens. Time pass by, Riela report that the regular army push is wavering, Meaning they run out of power. 422 immediately take the stage and handle the rest. It all goes well.
"squad 422, this is captain of squad 7 Welkin Gunther, come in!"
"captain Welkin!? what are you doing here!?" ask Kurt
As the firing cease, everything cleared from the Empire hold. Yuell once again belong to Gallia. Instead of cheer for victory, Kurt look around in panic for every regular army that fall in battle. Confused with the attitude, his squad ask what's eating him. He told them in gloomy tone he got report from Welkin there's civil on the red zone. He told Welkin he didn't see one and told him the report also said no civil since they are kicked out.
"Captain, the civil is NOT civil by the look!"
That words send chill to his spine. The regular army misfire, misinform and poor ability to the battlefield is a silent answer he never thought gonna hear.
"oh there you are!"
Kurt look to the regular army captain. It's his old friend turn prick who hit him for his ideal.
"so glad you here. i thought i gonna go at it alone!"
"you send them here?"
"yes, the army. my army on my command you see. never thought i gonna sent to reclaim a town"
"army? this is civil you unmannered swine!"
"hey! they took an arms on their own decision! i got lack of manpower so any help is welcome!" retort the captain
The whole 422 seems to grasp it "does this guys is civil, that is? oh thank fucking god i didn't decide to shoot them!" said Felix
"still! what are you thinking!? we're army! we supposed to be defend a country and it's people not throw it in the name of country!" said Riela clearly angry
"they willing bitch! they take an arms and we go with the flow! we're not you who going around merrily to their deathbed!"
"you just coward male-bitch!" said Felix about to charge the man
"decide on violence? you know what happen to the dog that bite their master?" taunt the captain
This put them into silent rage.
"what happen if the dog bite the swine i wonder?"
The voice coming behind them. It's commander Varrot along with Welkin, Alicia and Largo.
"oh Commander"
"save your salutation, i got no respect to the coward swine" said Varrot
"what!? i do my duty here!"
"turning civil into armed civilian just to cover your manpower doesn't excuse you from war crime!" said Welkin
"if you need that, at least ask HQ for draft permission. else, you just death courier or like that guy said, coward male-bitch" said Largo
"those are civil outside red zone...why you do that?" said Alicia
The Captain flustered "listen, i got duty so is you! I got a job here to take the city clean of Empire! How can i take a city without proper manpower!"
Varrot shake her head "irrelevant. Captain, your job is to secure the perimeter outside red zone so people can evacuate safely. NOT taking city"
"what the-"
"i maybe commander of the militia but i'm commander still. which mean any chain of command will get through me such as passing by army to anyone involved. you already abandon your post, involving civil intentionally to the battle and abusing power of military. i see to it you properly punished"
"no! you can't do that bitch!" shout the captain
"calling our big lady here bitch as last words of defense? way to go buddy" taunt Largo
As everyone gathered, 422 squad along with Militia Squad 7 trade information they got so far. Their push to the Empire to reclaim their former land is halted due to unforeseen defeat. They claim Ravens got their hand in this but other said they got pushed by inhuman weapon that they never seen before.
"so we back to a halt then?" said Kurt
"yes" said Varrot sadly
"what's your unit doing here by the way commander?"
"we were ordered to cover the perimeter to secure civilian evac route, something that swine should do. as it turn out he didn't and we up to the task and then the report in said you're also there make us hastily come here, fearing there will be cross fire. thank god your squad keep your temper"
"yes but the civil in the end..." said Alicia in low tone
"Kurt? got a second?" said Riela
"what is it?"
"a girl, the one who told us about the tunnel want to thank us"
"thank us? can it wait?"
"if i may suggest, i think you should meet the person who gave you a slip as commendation even if it just a thank you" said Varrot
"very well...i take that suggestion"
Walking off toward the medic tent, they see the girl who gave them reason to not involve a civil in their plan. She was live in the center of the city until empire kick her out. Unfortunately her parent is not that lucky and killed on the day they invade. She also know about what happen somehow because she know most of the people here which in turn know who they really are.
"i'm really sorry we can't prevent that" said Kurt
"no, it's alright. father always told me sometime life always love to give us hard time mostly. As long the people of Yuell still here, we can rebuild what we lost. Life that we lost may not return but i believe we may built a better new life...start from now"
"Girl you really have a strong heart. I may envy you for that" said Riela with little laugh "care to tell us your name young angel?"
"Cossette. Cossette Coalheart"
"Coalheart with a heart of gold" said Kurt with a smile
"this is unsettling" said Merchant lady "chain of command broke, abused power, and now gallant knight gag of a captain?"
"yes...do you know who did this mess?"
"no. i just logistic officer you see. but one day i pass by Commander Crowe, he told me to watch out for anyone with bad business. Because you see, there's this rumor of...biological weapon"
"what is that?"
"something that forbidden in military law by all means. even Empire follow this rule"
"yes and what kind of weapon is that?"
"you don't know? don't you read a book?" ask Merchant lady
"...errr...i can't read that well, not saying i'm fully illiterate i just don't know what does it said when it put together"
"then how you learn to talk? oh well...anyway that thing is bad news for a weapon. it can affect anything from human to environment. nasty little work, i don't even want to sell or supply it even if someone offer me a castle"
"now i wanna see one" said Anastagi
In the command room, Varrot and the rest of high rank officer gather to trade info about who could mess with chain of command. They got tired covering someone else while they got urgent thing to do. Amidst their conversation, a messenger come in.
"commander Varrot, i got message for captain squad 422"
Kurt nod "what is it"
"you got another job to do. it's direct order from Commander Crowe"
"Commander? must be important"
"err...not sure about that though"
"please clarify soldier, we got things to do" said Commander Varrot
"s-sorry. Captain Kurt, you were ordered to take...vacation...for a day"
