~Part 8: Can’t
Escape Reality~
“Link… Hero of Time! Wake up!
Wake up now! You must wake up now or all will be lost to you and everyone who
cares for you! Do not fall into the pits of despair which this foul creature
produces! Quick! Wake Up! Link……” Link could hear the beautiful melody of the
beckoning voice fading away as he was brought back to reality once again. The
Shadow creature that had attacked Link still lay atop him, its tremendous
weight keeping Link from even breathing in deeply. Link moaned from the intense
weight atop him and tried to move his arms but found them securely pinned to
the ground by the Shadow creature’s enormous clawed hands. He frowned and
wondered for a moment how long he had been in this spot with the Shadow
creature breathing down his neck in a very disturbing way. It couldn’t have
been long because his clothes were still in tact… that brought a shuddering
sickness to Link at the thought of what the evil creature wanted to do with
him.
Link pouted wearily and turned
his head away from the Shadow creature’s face. How was he ever going to get out
of this one? His right shoulder was broken and surely a few of his ribs were as
well… Sheik… Link caught himself
thinking about Sheik and he almost wanted to cry. This creature was going to
take Link’s innocence before Link could even see Sheik! How could this happen,
what could he do to stop the Shadow creature that, more than easily overpowered
Link—even if Link wasn’t injured he could never get away from the horrid beast
above him.
Where did that lovely voice go
to…? Link wished for a moment that the voice was actually real… it was only
another one of his hallucinations though, like everything else Link thought he
saw or heard. Link swallowed hard and dared a glance back at the Shadow
creature above him—wrong idea. The creature seemed to have been watching Link’s
movements very closely and when Link looked back at it, the creature took that
as a sign for it to continue with what it had been doing and it put the side of
its scaly face up next to Link’s and began to rub against Link teasingly. Link
swallowed again and his breath caught in his chest; oh god what was he going to
do?!
He needed to get away from this
thing before—before… anything REALLY bad happened. Link began to struggle a
bit, but found that too painful and it seemed the lustful Shadow creature above
him liked the friction Link’s struggling was causing, a little too much. Link
tried to calm himself back down but it was getting harder and harder to breathe
and the creature was getting hotter and hotter by the second. I—I need help… Help me please…… Somebody
help… Link squeezed his eyes shut and turned his head away from the Shadow
creatures face, but it didn’t seem to make difference; the creature took what
it saw and liked it all the same. Link’s eyes shot open as he felt sharp pricks
on his neck and then something warm ran down his long throat after.
The creature had bitten into the
soft flesh of Link’s delicate neck and now there were many tiny little holes
running alongside Link’s neck with quite a bit of blood draining from them.
Link didn’t know what to do, he could feel his blood flowing out of him and he
started to become dizzy, but he couldn’t even lift his arms to put a hand to
the many tiny bleeding wounds. For a quick moment a thought flashed through
Link’s mind that he didn’t want to do this anymore and he just wanted to die.
But then, as if a hand had reached inside Link’s head and grabbed his brain and
yelled, “what are you thinking!?” he snapped out of his depressing thoughts and
felt the presence of another, but he couldn’t tell who or what it was or if it
was close or far.
Link frowned and tried to look around for the mysterious presence, but
when he turned his head, the pain from the wounds on his neck burned so badly
and he couldn’t breathe. Link started to panic and he began to struggle
again—much to the Shadow creature’s delight. Link grew weary of his pointless
struggling and he started to grow sluggish in his movements; he eventually wore
himself out all too quickly and he lay there, breathing heavily under the
Shadow creature’s enormous form, his body completely lax and unmoving except
for the deep breaths he took every few seconds. All was lost to him once again,
even the mysterious presence that he had felt only moments ago, had
disappeared… or maybe it was still there, he just couldn’t feel it. Link’s body
could finally handle the stress no more and his head plopped over to the side,
and his beautiful blue eyes rolled back into his head; this left the Shadow
creature with an unconscious and very vulnerable Link under his hands.
The Shadow creature smiled—or, if you could
call that a smile—very evilly and it leaned down to lick at the sweet blood
still flowing from the wounds it made on Link’s neck. It breathed in Link’s
scent deeply and brought its lips to Link’s neck, but before it could take that
precious red life that belonged to the ‘Hero of Courage’, an arrow pierced
through the tough scale-skin of the creature’s back—right between its shoulder
blades. The Shadow creature let out a bloodcurdling howl of rage and
pain—arching its back and twisting around, trying to reach for the offending
object lodged between its shoulders without much success. The creature was
furious as it grunted and snorted, twisting and turning this way and that,
trying to reach for the one tiny arrow on its body; in its struggles it threw
itself off of Link’s body and rolled at least a good fifteen feet away from the
unconscious boy. Then another arrow joined the first, only lower down the
Shadow creatures back—this erupted another loud roar
from the creature and it fought even harder to rid itself of the torturous
arrows.
Then another arrow was shot into the Shadow creature’s body, this time
in its left shoulder; another arrow followed that one, then another, and
another, and another. Soon the Shadow creature lay on
the blood-stained ground—face first in the dirt. Too worn out from its own
pathetic struggles and loss of blood from the many and various places the
arrows connected at on its body. The worthless creature fought to keep
breathing, sickening nasal sounds coming from its throat, its eyes still open,
staring at nothing as blood slowly dribbled out of its mouth, making a mess in
the dirt beneath its placid face. Then, one more arrow came flying out from the
shadows, where it had stayed safely hidden from the Shadow creatures view, and
flew right into the creatures neck causing it to snap out of its dying trance
for a moment—gasping and thrashing about wildly until it just stopped.
The creature fell back to the
ground with a loud ‘thud’ and all the air in its lungs left its massive body
with a long disturbing wheeze of a sigh. When everything had left the Shadow
creature’s dead body and it seemed positive that the pathetic lump of muscle
was going to cause no more harm, a light footstep was heard on crunching earth
and soon one small foot stepped from the shadows where it had been hiding,
followed by the other. The color of the clothing was indecipherable with the
red-tinted light filling everything, but it looked to be a dark color—blue
perhaps, or possibly purple; the small feet were not protected by boots nor
little slippers, but it seemed the mysterious creature wore a body suit of the
sorts—somewhat like Sheik’s uniform used to look. As the body slowly shifted
from the shadows to the ‘light’ the tight body-suit revealed well muscled and
proportioned calves and thighs, continuing up to firm buttocks and a trim,
slender waist which was slightly covered by a torn and dirty cloak which
covered the rest of the mysterious creature’s body up to the semi-broad
shoulders. But what was most mysterious of all was the mask that covered the
creatures face and head.
It wasn’t just any mask though,
the odd patterns and strange shaped eye in the center of it all revealed it to
be the ‘Mask of Truth’. The creature turned its head to the side as it looked over
Link’s still form, as if contemplating what to do with the said boy. The
mysterious creature cautiously walked closer to Link until it was only a foot
away from the unconscious boy, it stood in the same spot for a moment then
knelt down next to Link and slowly brought a gloved hand out to touch the
wounds on Link’s neck. Link moaned and turned his head to the side, preventing
the masked creature from touching his wounds. The creatures shoulders slumped
for a moment then it straitened up again and leaned down, close to Link’s face.
Link moaned again and the
creature put one of its small gloved hands on Link’s chest, letting it be moved
by the steady rise and fall from Link’s breathing. The masked creature stayed
that way for a moment, just watching Link’s fine upper body move so gracefully
even with his breaths. Then the creature turned its ‘face’ back toward Link and
acted as if it whispered something in Link’s ear. The masked creature sat up
and waited for a moment then Link began to moan again and squeezed his eyes
shut-tight and lolled his head back and forth lazily. The masked creature
cocked its head to one side, giving the creature an almost curious air about
it.
It waited patiently for Link to
open his eyes, but the boy just wouldn’t reveal his beautiful sapphires. The
masked creature leaned forward again and when it got only a few inches away
from Link’s face, it pulled back immediately, as if it had been burned by the
mere presence of Link. It brought its hand to its chest and held it there for a
moment, obviously in shock, but from what? The masked creature started to lean
forward again—slowly, but it hesitated for a moment. The moment passed by fast
enough and it pushed itself forward again until its ‘face’ was right next to
Link’s again and, in closer examination, it found that what had scared it so
much was Link’s emotions in turmoil within his mind.
* * * *
“Sheik, why are you acting like this…? I-I thought you—”
“Thought I what!? Thought I loved
you? You are a pathetic fool!
Just as Ganon said—he was right.”
“Right? Right about what…? Sheik…?”
“Right about you and how worthless and unreliable you are! He told me
you wouldn’t come for me, and I didn’t want to believe him… but—but you never
did come…… and soon I realized he was right and you were never going to come
for me… You never cared for me!!”
“But—”
“He told me I would learn to love him and care for him as my master; I
didn’t want to believe that either! But I had no choice, and he made me love
him and he was right… he was right and I was wrong—about you! You made me love him, you made me think he cared for me; you made me believe I was worthless and
loathed and you know what? I started to believe it myself… because—because I
loved you so much it hurt. I would have done anything for you Link—anything,
yet you had to ignore my pleas and my cries for your help and love. You had to
leave me with him… and because of
that—because of your selfishness and ignorance I did learn to love him and now,
now he is my ‘Hero’, he is my ‘Courage’ and you… you are nothing……”
Link stood before his lost love, his beautiful lost Sheikah,
whom he had been searching for all his life, shaking his head in disbelief, and
now that he had found the creature of his obsession the mysterious boy wanted
nothing to do with him! Link didn’t know what to do, he loved Sheik more than
life itself, he knew that now; but now that beautiful Sheikah
hated him… Tears began to role down Link’s soft cheeks; he just stared at
Sheik, not wanting to believe what he had just said. How, how could Sheik hate
him so much when Link had never stopped searching for the boy; day in and day
out, whether searching the vast plains of Hyrule or being plagued by countless
nightmares of Sheik every night, Link never stopped looking for his beloved.
But the Sheikah hated him and to make matters worse,
Sheik now loved the one, horrid creature Link had fought so hard to destroy and
save everyone from—including Sheik himself.
Why…?
“Why…?” Without realizing he had said the word, it escaped his dry
lips, leaving Sheik and himself a little stunned for a moment. Sheik stared at
Link with the most maddening and seemingly psychotic look, for the longest
moment Link had ever had to endure, then Sheik parted
his lips in the cruelest and most wicked smile Link had ever thought he could
have seen on any creature alive. Link took a startled step back, away from the
creature he loved so avidly. Why was Sheik staring at him like that for?
“‘W-h-y…?’ You ask ‘why’?” Sheik’s voice was filled with so much venom
and spite for Link, it hurt and Link could bare it no more. He started to shake
his head again, in a silent protest to what Sheik was saying and doing, ‘This
cannot be real, it cannot be! Sheik would never do
this… he couldn’t. Sheik, no, please… don’t. I love you, I love you Sheik,
don’t leave me… please…… Please?’ A sudden a loud bark of a laugh brought Link
back from his thoughts and he saw Sheik laughing at him; clutching his stomach
and leaning over he was laughing so hard. Link blinked in confusion, what was
so funny? But as Link looked closer he saw the cruelty in the laugh and wicked
smile still plastered to Sheik’s usually beautiful and irresistible lips.
Link blinked in confusion
and he lost his breath when Sheik abruptly stopped laughing and very slowly
stood back up, his eyes glowing and the most menacing gleam shone in them; if
Link hadn’t known any better, he would have thought Sheik were to kill him
then. A disgusting sneer covered over Sheik’s wicked smile and took a step
closer to Link—Link took a step back. Sheik took another step towards Link and Link once again parried that step
with one back of his own. This continued for a few seconds until Sheik leaped
at Link and seized the stunned boy’s arms in a vice-like grip that left Link
more than surprised than anything else, by the sudden movement. Link stared up
at Sheik, who now towered over him in an unusually possessive manner; his face
only inches from the frightened Link below.
Sheik’s smile widened as his eyes bore deep into Link’s own, and
seemingly forced his mind’s eye past the walls within Link’s psyche and
captured the boy’s thoughts and emotions with his invisible hand. Holding Link himself, within the dangerously cruel palm
of his hand. Link could feel the unfamiliarly forceful hands, grip his mind and
the icy cold fingers twine through and around his soul. Link caught his breath
in his chest and he gazed at Sheik with so much pain and longing in his eyes,
not understanding why Sheik was doing this—how he could have become so cruel…
The Sheik he knew and loved would never do this, but it felt so real.
The burning tears came back and Link struggled to get a grip upon
himself and Sheik, but to no avail. Sheik’s evil gaze and smile never faltered
and he only drew nearer to Link, forcing their bodies together in a possessive,
forceful grip. Link immediately became aware of the bulging erection between
Sheik and himself; apparently Sheik still felt something for Link because that was definitely real. Link frowned,
confusion very evident in his innocent features—he didn’t understand why Sheik
was so…hard; one minute Sheik is telling Link how much he hates him and the
next they are practically joined at the hip. Link was scared to death and
didn’t know what to do, he still loved Sheik with all his heart but something
was telling him how wrong all this was and why the lust Sheik held for Link
wasn’t any ordinary kind.
Link swallowed hard and put his hands up to Sheik’s broad chest, trying
to push the strong boy away. Sheik smiled even broader and he suddenly began to
rub his tantalizing hips up against Link’s, with an effect that left Link
completely terrified of Sheik as well as his own body; In response to the
friction Sheik was causing, Link grew quite hard himself in a certain area of
interest to the Sheikah above. Link hated himself for
liking the feelings the Sheikah gave him, it wasn’t
right but it felt so damn good… but why wasn’t it right? Then Sheik bent his
neck down and pushed his face into the crook of Link’s neck and slowly began to
suckle and lick at the sweet flesh of the frightened boy. Link lost his breath
in that moment, along with his mind—he just let Sheik take what he wanted and
the cruel Sheikah did.
Link dropped his head back, closing his eyes
and moaning from the pleasure of having someone touch him in such an intimate
way. Link had wanted this for so long—somebody to hold him and touch him and
please him, and even though the feeling that this was all wrong—that Sheik
wasn’t real and it was only a trap created by Ganon
and his minions, still clung to his heart and soul, Link still gave up and let
the evil visage of his protector take him. Link moaned again, whimpering when
Sheik moved away from that tender spot on his neck, but cried out when Sheik
found another sensitive place, right behind Link’s delicately pointed ear. Link
closed his eyes tightly and wrapped his arms around Sheik’s neck, rubbing his
cheek against Sheik’s own in a needy, deprived manner. Sheik continued to lick
behind Link’s ear and suckle on the said appendage occasionally, loving the
moans and cries of pleasure he elicited from Link.
Link was so drawn into the pleasure he didn’t even notice when Sheik
laid him down on the ground and lay atop him, still kissing and licking at
Link’s delicate skin. Link’s breath quickened and he
leaned his head back, inviting Sheik to take what he pleased. Sheik moved back
down the elegant neck and trailed his hands down Link’s strong pectorals and
taut stomach until he found the thick brown belt holding everything on Link’s
body in place. Sheik tugged at the belt for a moment and it came undone quickly
in his skilled hands; still kissing Link’s neck and collar bone, Sheik slipped
his long fingers under the green tunic Link always wore and up to the
untouched, silky skin of the boys stomach—it was a good thing Link wasn’t
wearing that white turtleneck. Link let out a gasp as the icy appendages roamed
over his upper body in ghostly, whispering touches, but still just enough to
derive pleasure from.
Link thrashed his head about, bringing his hands to his face, unable to
bare the intensity of the pleasure racking his body… it seemed strange that
such simple and light touches could provoke such intense feelings from the
innocent boy, but alas, there was still the fact that he had never been touched
in even the slightest caring manner—he hadn’t even touched himself before, so
it only seemed right that Link would respond to Sheik in such a way as now.
Sheik left his place by Link’s neck and moved further down, to the creamy flesh
which had been revealed when Sheik pushed the tunic up to Link’s chin. Sheik
dipped down and licked at the sweet flesh of the boy’s fine stomach, causing a
cry of pleasure to escape the said boy’s beautiful lips. Sheik licked his way
up to one of Link’s rosy nipples and grabbed it between his teeth, producing
another cry from Link; Sheik rolled the delicate nub of flesh around in his
mouth, sucking at it and licking it after it was as hard as it was going to
get. Sheik moved to its partner and repeated the process, by this time, driving
the blond boy below him, mad with pleasure and the pain of it.
Sheik moved back down the quivering boy’s stomach until he came to the
thin, white leggings the boy called pants, and he smiled again when he saw the
raging erection Link had—much the same as his own. Sheik nibbled through the
pants at the painfully hard flesh beneath, earning a loud cry that melted into
a whimper from the boy above. Sheik grinned evilly and nuzzled at the
protruding appendage between Link’s legs, nipping at
it and rubbing it with his skilled hands, teasing Link to the brink of
insanity. Sheik soon found the extent of his ministrations rubbing off when a
small wet spot slowly formed on Link’s trousers, leaving a darkened area to
show his passion. Sheik’s smile broadened and put his nose to the wet spot,
breathing in Link’s masculine yet femininely pure scent—it made Sheik swoon
with ecstasy and lust for the boy below him and that made him even harder than
he was already.
Link moaned and whimpered and
cried for more but each time he did, the pain and thought that what was
happening was wrong, only grew stronger. He tried to ignore it and let the
pleasure take over but it was so damn persistent over what was happening and it
hurt Link to defy what ever it was that was telling him this. Link let out a
heavy breath of air and dared a glance down at his tormentor whom he loved so
very deeply… what he found almost instantly dissolved any lust and need he had
before and completely replaced all
love and devotion with revulsion—Ganon now lay in the
place between Link’s legs where Sheik once lay, an evil, knowing smile set over
his hard ugly features. Link could only stared at the evil man in pure terror,
his eyes three times larger than usual and his breath quickening by the second.
Ganon slowly pushed himself up and leaned up towards
Link’s face, mimicking a panther stalking its prey very accurately.
Link couldn’t even move for the first few seconds, he only lay there,
frozen in terror. Ganon continued his lethally
lustful pursuit upward, towards the horrified Link, never lifting his strong
gaze from that of the fearful, watery gaze Link kept upon him. Link didn’t know what to do, or even who he was for the first
few moments he was so terrified. Ganon moved closer
and closer, smile widening more and more… then a thought—or more precisely, a
voice of someone else other than his own invaded Link’s mind and immediately Link knew who it was and
he did not want it in there with him.
Ganondorf.
Link swallowed hard and tried to push the invader out of his mind but Ganon was so strong Link couldn’t even think of a way to
escape without feeling Ganon's invisible finger’s grabbing hold of his tired
and weak mind and crushing it each time he thought of something against Ganon. Link whimpered and blinked in confusion, finally
finding himself laying directly below Ganon—pinned
and helpless to Ganon's evil mind and ways. Link tried to squirm away from
Ganon's powerful grasp, but to no avail—there was absolutely no use in even trying to escape—Ganon
was just… too powerful. Link knew he was doomed, and now, now he would most
definitely never be able to touch, or hold, or look upon his beloved Sheik
again—even if Sheik did love the man that was the world’s worst enemy, along
with Link’s. Link hesitated, what was he supposed to do, after all, the Great
Ganondorf was towering above him in a very frightening manner right at that
moment, who wouldn’t be confused and scared to death because of that?
Link could only stare in horror as Ganon
lowered himself upon Link’s frail body and brought his hard, disgusting face
closer to Link’s own as well. ‘No, no, this can’t be happening—it can’t be! It
can’t end like this, how…why, why did this have to happen to me…? No… I know
why, because I couldn’t save Sheik from it either so I deserve this—I deserve
what Sheik had to slave through—worse! I deserve so much worse! God, forgive me
Sheik…… FORGIVE ME!!’ Link squeezed his eyes shut and turned his face away from
Ganon in shame, hot tears of rage and utter pain
flowing from Link’s miserable eyes. Ganon smiled and
leaned down to lick at Link’s neck; Link’s face contorted in revulsion from the
feeling of having that dirty, evil, slimy thing touching him in such a intimate
way…. He couldn’t do this—he just couldn’t! ‘Forgive me for this Sheik! I
cannot… do this!’
With a sudden outburst that surprised even Ganondorf, Link brought his
arms up directly into Ganon's enormous muscled chest and shoved the hulking man
back, off of himself. Ganon could not catch himself
with the odd loss of balance and fell onto his back, grunting when he hit the
ground. Link scrambled back and stumbled to his feet, turning back to make sure
Ganon was still on the ground, only to find to his
horror that Ganon was nowhere to be found. Link
started to shake violently and he whipped his head from left to right and back,
then he spun around in all directions quickly, looking for his frightening
enemy. Link could find no trace of Ganon anywhere and
his breathing slowly calmed; Link turned to walk back the opposite way only to
run right into Ganondorf’s broad expanse of muscled
body.
Link gasped and tried to jump back, only to be caught in Ganon's
powerful embrace. Link struggled and kicked and punched and screamed with all
he had against Ganon, but the large beast just stood
there staring down at Link with a raised eyebrow as the boy continued to fight
against him in vain. Then Ganon grabbed Link’s head
in his giant hand and brought the frightened boy up into a crushing kiss;
Link’s eyes widened to the size of saucers and he just hung there in Ganon's
arms for a moment, too stunned to do anything else, then he squeezed his eyes
shut and started to bang his small fists against Ganon's broad chest again. Ganon smirked into the kiss and pulled Link’s delicate body
closer, preventing Link from having the chance to twist free. Ganon finally broke the kiss and pulled away with a
satisfied smirk on his face; Link panted and wiped the foul taste from his
mouth with the back of his hand.
Ganon
sneered at Link and unexpectedly threw Link to the ground with so much force
that the wind was knocked out of Link’s body. Link lay there, stunned and
gasping for air, when he tried to sit up he felt a large hand shove him back to
the ground. Link’s vision cleared and he looked up in time to see one giant
dark-skinned hand come flying right at his face, the next second he was back on
the ground, head spinning and he couldn’t figure right from left or up from
down. Link moaned and tried to move his head but every time he did it hurt so
bad he thought he would lose himself; then he felt his body being lifted from
the ground violently and the next thing he knew, Link’s green tunic was being
ripped from his frail body, along with his white leggings and then his boots,
then he was thrown back to the ground. Link coughed and rolled to his side,
curling in on himself, trying to make his body as small as possible.
Ganon growled and grabbed Link’s arm, yanking him back up so that Link was
fully exposed no matter how he turned. Link cried out and tried to hide his
face but Ganon grabbed Link’s small chin and forced
the boy to open his eyes. More tears of shame and hatred rolled down Link’s
soft cheeks as he stared into Ganon's dark, vicious eyes. Link pouted and tried
to pull away but he was just too weak, and Ganon
would never let him go now…Link
could finally feel his defeat nearing and he had nothing left to live for
anymore, all he could do was give up and he would have except…… except, his
soul was screaming with all it had to not give up control and to keep fighting,
and then there was that ‘Feeling’ again, as if all of this was only a dream and
none of it was real—just another trick being played on Link’s weak and tired
mind.
Link just kept letting his despair grow though, even though the
‘Feeling’ was growing stronger as well; he just stared at Ganon
sadly as the evil man leaned in for another foul kiss… Link would have let him
have it too if it wouldn’t have been for the sudden jolt of emotion that
coursed through him at that moment. Link frowned, and then he felt it again,
jerking forward from the force of the outburst within his soul. Ganon watched in confusion as Link seemed to be acting as
though his body was possessed; Link continued to shake abruptly from the
pounding of the ‘Feeling’ inside him and then he heard it, a voice… a voice so
soothing yet commanding and calming all at once that Link felt as though he
were going to faint. Link knew immediately that the voice was the ‘Feeling’ he
had been experiencing and a sudden overwhelming sense that he knew who the
voice belonged to, enveloped him and he found himself listening with his full
attention, to the enchanting voice within his soul.
“‘Hero of Time’, Link, keeper of the Triforce
of Courage, please hear me—hear my plea… you mustn’t let this place control
you! Do not let this realm of evil take over your mind and soul, it is an evil
place and it will only serve to harm you more! Fight! Fight against this wicked
force and the evil magic spell which it has cast upon you……! Sheik needs you…”
With those three simple words, Link felt all of his joy and power over himself
come back and he glared at Ganon, then shoved the
vile man back away from him; Sheik really didn’t care for Ganondorf, and he
still waited for Link to save him… Link would never doubt his heart and soul
again.
*
* * *
The mysterious masked creature,
sat patiently, watching the beautiful blond boy on the ground shaking and
jerking his body every once in a while. The creature could see the fight going on within Link’s mind, it could feel the hatred and force Link used
against his soul’s nightmares and the creature knew he was winning. Suddenly
Link’s eyes snapped open and he stared strait ahead, eyes wide and his
breathing ragged, then he looked to the side and saw the mysterious creature
with the Mask of Truth as its ‘face’ and he furrowed his eyebrows slightly and
just stared at the creature he knew
had saved him…. Somehow Link just knew that the strange masked creature next to
him was the owner of that lovely voice that saved him in his dispirited mind
and soul and suddenly he felt a wave of complete comfort and reassurance that
the creature would be there for him if and when he may need help again on this
troublesome journey.
Link swallowed and sat up, never
taking his eyes from the calm creature before him; the masked creature merely
sat there, in the crouched position it had been in since it had been watching
Link, moving its head—following Link as he sat up and then it cocked its head
to the side when Link stopped and was fully upright. Link waited for a moment,
watching the mysterious creature as he thought, the
creature was most definitely watching him. Link let his eyes slowly drift over
the masked creature’s still form and as he took in the skin-tight material—much
like Sheik’s own uniform, and the powerful looking muscles all over the
creatures body, up to the cloak concealing its upper body, the thought occurred
to Link that the creature looked very much like one of those irritating spiders
he used to have to fight when he would travel to Death Mountain or Lake Hylia.
That memory made him smirk slightly and the creature cocked its head again—the
only movement it had made since Link had sat up. Link kind of figured that he
wouldn’t get many words out of the mysterious creature so he accepted the odd
gestures and gentle silence; the creature had saved his life after all.
Link decided he would try and
stand up and as soon as he began to move again, the creature leapt to his side
in an instant and had its powerful arms wrapped around his body protectively.
Link stared at the creature for a moment then smiled at it slightly; the creature
lifted Link to his feet and held onto Link until he was able to form some
semblance of balance in his weakened state. Link felt extremely dizzy and then
he remembered that the Shadow creature he had been fighting before he blanked
out, had bitten him—and his arm was broken! Link automatically grabbed his
right arm and felt… nothing; and his ribs didn’t hurt anymore either, he
cautiously brought his hand up to his neck where the wounds had been made and
those were gone as well! Link looked at the masked creature in shock and
confusion and it just nodded slowly; Link sighed heavily, finally releasing the
fear and stress he had been feeling for so long—but he still had to save Sheik…
and wait! What happened to the Shadow creature!?
Link suddenly became frantic and
spun around, trying to find the monster that had almost killed him. The masked
creature next to Link seemed to pick up on the idea that Link was looking for
the Shadow monster and it laid its hand on Link’s shoulder gently and turned
Link to where the said monster lay—dead. Link blinked a couple of times,
slightly startled that the creature was actually there and dead. He turned to
the masked creature again and once again the creature nodded back at him. Link
swallowed and looked down, assessing the situation, he thought, if the
mysterious creature was strong enough to defeat that Shadow beast than this
masked creature must surely be a Shadow folk—Sheikah,
just like Sheik, and Link had better not make it mad… but he still found it odd
how the creature was wearing the Mask of Truth.
The mask used to be his until he was kicked down here, and
almost everything he owned—including the Mask of Truth, was lost. Well, maybe
the creature would reveal itself and give the mask back to Link when—if he made
it out of this hell alive and with Sheik… but first he had to find his,
hopefully, soon-to-be lover. Link smiled to himself, that had a nice sound to
it—lover… Link’s lover, Sheik…. Link would make sure that did happen, this
time, because he wasn’t about to let anything or anyone else get to his heart
and soul again—those powers were his to control and relinquish as he wished,
and when he found Sheik and they could finally be together, he would make sure
to give Sheik his heart and soul because they already belonged to the beautiful
Sheikah, the words just had to be said.
