Disclaimer: I do not own Fallout 3 and i make no money off of this story. it is a work of fiction from a huge Fallout Fan. enjoy everyone. |
AUTHOR'S NOTE: after a pretty long hiatus, im back to writing The Search for James. I apologize for the long break from writing, but along with family problems and a heavy work schedule, i have had no time to post my chapters here on AFF. however, rest assured that i have been writing and adding onto the story. this chapter contains no sex, but a couple of plot points are obvious here, number one our hero Andrew discovers his father's whereabouts after so long looking for him while Gem and Jenny discuss Jenny's future after being raped and the emotional toll it takes and what she plans on doing to end the constant torment that Jericho puts her through every day. so enjoy the story everyone. i am hoping to get this story done by the end of the month. whenever i write i write in chapters, so please forgive me for the time it takes for me to finish. good evening everyone.
----------------------- Andrew Ross was on the cusp of something great. He couldn’t describe why he felt that way, he just knew it as if the fabric of reality were guiding him to the confrontation that he both longed for and dreaded at the same time. Nearly impossible questions would come to pass, but in their own due time, they would be answered and fulfilled in his mind, of this he was certain. The giant, yellow painted steel scaffolding that surrounded the once glorious gazebo style monument had been littered with mutants, but Andrew could not tear his thoughts away from the immanent face to face that was to come and he took a bullet to his already wounded right arm. As he clutched the bleeding appendage, he gritted his teeth and pushed open the small blue colored door that is apparently the only style of door in the entire Capital wasteland, if you ask Bethesda (for real, there are like only three kinds of doors in all of Fallout 3, look for it next time you play). The immediate interior was free of the green skinned freaks called super mutants. Andrew did however hear them in their next room. He closed his eyes and sighed silently. He cursed under his breath before sneaking his way down the low sloping hall and planted his back against the cool stone of the wall and listening. He could hear three in his immediate vicinity so he pulled the pins of two grenades and tossed them into the room before him. The grenades exploded, catching all three super mutants off guard before Andrew swung around into the room and fired his brand new flamer, charring the green flesh of all the super mutants in the room. The smell of burned flesh and the sound of crackling fat would indeed be smelt and heard for hours afterward. The next mutant attacked with a sledge hammer, which was quickly ducked as Andrew swung the steel of the flamer into the abdomen of the giant super mutant. The offended mutant howled in pain and clutched his stomach before Andrew sprayed the fire all around the mutants body, cooking it where it stood. Suddenly Andrew felt a melting heat in the left side of his body. Andrew whipped around and sprayed the Cerberus who had spit its acid on his combat armor with fire, killing it as well in a matter of seconds. Andrew took a moment to splash the burning patch of his skin with the much cooler purified water, the last bottle he had. Shit Andrew thought, gonna have to resupply on food and water before I carry on. Andrew pushed the thought from his mind for a moment before going on with the mission at hand. Andrew found the same generic blue door that had a copper plaque beside it that read “Jefferson Memorial rotunda”. Andrew readied his flamer before pushing the door open. A mutant attacked him on sight, but Andrew managed to dodge the shot from the super sledge the monster was carrying that was meant for Andrew’s head. Andrew retaliated by backpedaling and spraying fire upon its body before switching aim between that mutant and a second who bounded down the steps of the water purification room. Both fell into a burned heap. All threats eliminated, Andrew tentatively climbed the stairs to the apple of his father’s eye, the one thing he had risked his life for, yet still had the courage and love for his son to abandon when Andrew’s mother died shortly after childbirth. The water purifier wasn’t in itself all that impressive. Only a series of machines and computers designed to control the water flow and the purification process, all at the moment old and derelict. Andrew found a trio of data pads on top of one of the many instruments of healthy water for the wasteland. Andrew picked them up and played them. Mostly they were about his regrets and his hopes that the purifier would come to fruition. The data pad numbered ‘10’ gave Andrew the evidence he needed. He didn’t know anything about this Stanislaus Braun except from what he learned in vault 101. Andrew paused as the vault he came to hate once again entered his mind. He shook his head as he thought about his new destination. A place called Smith Casey’s garage, and hidden within its unassuming depths, the entrance to vault 112. ------------------------- It was mid day in Megaton, the sun high in the sky and consequently beating its unrelenting rays on the already scorched and pocked earth below. It was hot days like today that really made the residents grimace and sigh. The seasons were both hotter and colder respectively from the vast climate changes resulting from nuclear winter. Two figures sat by themselves just outside of Megaton’s gate on a spread out blanket, trying to enjoy themselves although each had several issues going on. It had been a month already and Andrew was nowhere to be seen, although Crow, who was visiting Megaton as one of his routine stops among the various denizens of the capital wasteland, had reported of seeing Andrew alive as he had bought some new combat armor to repair his Rangers armor with. This gave the two figures hope, if only a little. “he’s a tough guy.” Martha said out of the blue, catching Jenny by surprise as she was raising her grilled iguana to her lips. “what do you mean?” Jenny asked, raising an eyebrow before taking a bite of the tender meat. “Andrew. He’s a tough guy. From what Crow said, I just know he’s still alive and well.” Martha responded. She was now showing more belly from her pregnancy after only these few days since she first started showing the slight bump of the early pregnant. One of her hands instinctively traveled up her leg and came to rest on the crest of her baby bump. “I know, Gem. We all think he’s still alive.” Jenny commented before taking a swig of the beer she brought with her from her store. “nah, I know he is alive. I just have this feeling.” Martha said with a halfway grin and hope in her shining blue eyes. “yeah.” Jenny stated flatly. She had her doubts but she knew that obsessing about Andrew’s death with no proof was ultimately fruitless…and pointless. “Gem. I am thinking about leaving Megaton.” Jenny said after a few moments’ pause. “wait, is this about Jericho?” Martha asked incredulously, feeling her temper rise at the thought of what the barbarian did to her best friend a few weeks before. Jenny nodded at the aforementioned question. Martha sighed and wrapped her arms around her friend. “look, Jen. I know what he did hurt you, and I know he only rubs it in every time he looks at you and makes those stupid comments. But is that what you really want?” Martha asked as she hugged Jenny. Jenny scoffed and rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t help but smile. “You mean is it really what I want to leave my home because some prick wont leave me alone? No, of course not.” Seeing the look in her friend’s eyes, Jenny inhaled and let it out slowly before lowering her tone. “im sorry honey. Ive just been thinking about this a lot.” Jenny said, turning on the blanket to look at Martha. “Andrew will be here soon. Please just have faith. He will take care of everything.” Martha said placing a comforting hand upon Jenny’s shoulder. “cmon, ill buy you some Dandy Boy Apples.” Martha tried, with a little grin. Jenny finally laughed and shook her head at the pregnant girl’s joke. “alright, it’s a date.” Jenny said after she caught her breath from laughing. “just don’t tell Gob.” Martha said standing up and pulling Jenny up as well. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
