==LAP 8=
The following day, Chiya and Earl were sitting around the kitchen drinking coffee. Chiya sat in a cream colored soft chair with plants to each side. Earl was leaning against the wall while crossing his leg over his knee. The room was silent and the two were merely enjoying the new day, Chiya had calmed down after a night of good sleep. Earl grinned and looked up at Chiya.
“Alright I’ll bite, why did you decide to stay?”
Chiya grinned back and shrugged, “I was just angry at the time. After sleeping last night I realized how nice it actually is here; besides, I want that F-Zero machine,” she said as she took a sip of her coffee.
Earl slowly smirked at her and nodded, “That’s it?”
Their brief conversation was interrupted as Seppuku kicked the kitchen door open, his scarf blew in the air as he stopped in the middle of the kitchen, “I got some useful intel out of the data from that Red Star lot computer.”
Chiya glanced over at him without turning her head, Earl stood up immediately, “Hopefully the location of their hideout?”
“Nope, but it provided us with leads on where the Bloody Chain’s hideout could be.”
Chiya set down her cup of coffee and sighed, “What kind of lead are we talking about, exactly?”
A few minutes later the group stood in Seppuku’s office next to a large screen that was on the wall. Seppuku was pointing at a 3D image of Michael Chain’s machine, the Wild Boar, along with other identical machines.
“This data claims that Chain and his gang are commonly traveling around the most police protected area of the Lower City, meaning they have something there that is of significance to them,” Seppuku explained while holding his chin.
Earl waved his hand in the air, “Perhaps they’re getting certain supplies from somewhere in that area.”
Seppuku pointed back at him, “That’s exactly what you will be figuring out today.”
Earl widened his eyes, “M- me?”
“-and Chiya of course.”
Chiya sighed at the new assignment, “But we aren’t assaulting anything this time, right?”
“Don’t know, if you see the Wild Boar you’re to follow it, wherever it ends up I want to know so we can finally nail Chain in the head,” Seppuku said while striking his fist into his palm.
The two stood up, Seppuku pointed at Earl again, “Bendek, when you get back you need to get the Red Dove prepared for the upcoming race.”
Earl got an annoyed look, “You know, it would be a lot easier to do this if you weren’t bashing it up every, single, night.”
Seppuku began to laugh at him, “Don’t be silly, there’s always room for bashing. Now get going you two!”
Chiya nodded and left out the door, Earl momentarily followed her out of the office. Earl only had a normal vehicle to drive to their destination, it would stand no chance against an F-Zero machine if the mission went badly. If his vehicle were attacked by an F-Zero machine with a combat module, the vehicle would be smashed into pieces instantly.
Moments later, Earl and Chiya were in the garage preparing to leave the base. The two approached his vehicle, it was a bland white and yellow hovercraft. He got in and turned on the engine, then opened the massive garage door to the outside. As soon as they drove out of the garage Earl pressed a button above the dashboard of the vehicle that closed the garage door. Chiya was surprised to see that the garage door was disguised as a normal looking building on the outside, as if the door were just a wall. They began driving to their destination, which was only minutes away.
Chiya and Earl were on their first mission together, and Chiya felt somewhat shy. Earl was considered a friend in her eyes, but she had only been living with him for a short while now. Earl seemed like a fairly laid back person, not surprising her that he hit on girls at the bar scene. Chiya continued to stare at him for several moments as they silently drove together. Earl momentarily glanced over at her, she quickly turned her head away and cleared her throat. Earl smirked at her and raised an eyebrow.
“So the interesting thing about F-Zero engines is that we’re using one right now, only it isn’t supercharged,” Earl explained, trying to start a conversation.
“I know,” Chiya responded challengingly.
Earl nodded, “Alright, did you know that the first combat module was actually made for police units so that they could comprehend criminals easier?”
Chiya shook her head negatively, “I just know things about engines, because I used to work with them.” She held her hand on her forehead and frowned, “M- my dad always warned me not to supercharge any of the engines we worked on.”
Earl glanced over at her and smiled, “I can see why Seppuku wanted you on the team, I just don’t understand why he wants you for combat purposes.”
Chiya shrugged, “Why not?”
Earl puckered his lips while thinking, “Well, if you have even the simplest skill in engineering, then I would imagine he would put you to work with me fixing the Red Dove.” Chiya hummed and rubbed her chin. She had to consider what he said, because it was for the most part true. Is Seppuku just using me as a meat shield..? “But then again, you seem to lack self-confidence, he could be trying to help you in that sort by putting you through difficult situations.”
Chiya glared at him in response, “I have self-confidence! I just…”
For reasons unknown, Chiya could not find the correct words that she wanted to use.
The rest of the ride was awkward and silent. They eventually parked the vehicle in a hidden spot in case Michael Chain came causing havoc. The two sat together in the center of the street they were supposed to watch over. They were sharing a bench as they simply stared at a broken fountain that was in front of the two.
Chiya turned her eyes towards Earl, he looked like someone who lived to work and had no life outside of the garage. His brown hair was waving softly in the air, seeing this somehow reminded her of the first day they met--before she knew who Seppuku truly was.
“How did you get mixed in with Seppuku?”
Earl widened his eyes, he momentarily smirked at the question. He looked straight forward aimlessly, “Well, as I recall, Seppuku had just joined F-Zero, he was a new racer, and I always liked new blood so I joined in as a Seppuku fan.”
“Was he bad at first?”
Earl scratched his head, “That’s what’s strange. In his first race, he was already combating with Captain Falcon, as if he had been racing all his life.” Chiya was intrigued by the fact that Seppuku actually fought Captain Falcon on the track, this made Seppuku sound like a villain for attacking a hero. “Strangely enough his fan base still isn’t very big. Anyways, one day I got to meet him in person, fan to racer, and we actually began talking for a bit, after a while of talking he revealed a plan of his to start a small two-man vigilante group, and oddly enough he was interested in me.”
“So you just joined him on the spot,” she guessed.
“Not quite, I volunteered to be his engineer. But all I wanted was work credit. Not long after joining him he wanted me to build an F-Zero machine and join him on the track. Not long after that, he wanted me to do these kinds of crazy missions with him; I tried to leave, but then I saw the money to be made here…”
Chiya widened her eyes at his reasoning. The money. The money was the same reason Chiya decided to stay. What’s Seppuku’s game? Is it possible that he just wants the gangs removed so he can establish his own rule down here..? Chiya decided not to think too deeply about this, and to simply change the subject.
“Hey Earl, I noticed that there was a helmet that looked like Blood Falcon’s in the lobby.”
“That was the first thing I asked him about when I arrived at his headquarters, I’ve asked him about that for years, and he always just claims to not know where he got it from,” Earl answered quickly. Chiya was relieved that she wasn’t the only one who was somewhat troubled by this, “I personally think he’s just ashamed to admit that it’s a Blood Falcon souvenir. He was probably a Blood Falcon fan before he joined the Grand Prix.”
Why would you put a souvenir in a display case though..? Chiya was suddenly startled as something rolled under her chair. A metallic ball. Earl was staring at the ball in confusion as well. Chiya grabbed the ball and brought it up to their faces, both of them observed it closely.
“What’s that?” asked Earl.
“I’m, not sure…”
The ball suddenly let out a blinding light, flashing both Chiya and Earl’s eyes. Everything went white for Chiya, but she quickly felt her life fading away as well, and then everything went completely dark. The last thing that came to Chiya’s mind was that they were killed by a grenade.
Chiya awoke much later, once again she was tied up to a chair. Earl was with her as well. She began to panic, assuming that they were in the same room as last time. But this was a much different room.
“Where are we Earl?”
He turned her head towards her, he had woken up much before Chiya, “Looks like Red Star caught us.”
“Red Star? I thought we were worrying about the Bloody Chain!” Chiya panicked loudly at the situation.
Chiya looked around the empty room, but there were two blood-red banners with gold trimmed stars. Chiya was trembling at the situation they were in, only she was a little more relieved to have someone with her this time. Some chatter could be heard coming towards the only door in the room--someone was coming.
“What do they want with us?” she fearfully asked Earl.
Earl knew that he had to try and keep Chiya as calm as possible, “I have no idea, probably want to gut us,” he admitted.
Suddenly two muscular men charged into the room holding AKP-55 rifles with dumbbells chained to the barrels. Chiya said nothing, another person was about to enter the room. Earl and Chiya now knew that they were going to be talked to by someone before they received their fate, the fact that two men with assault rifles came in typically was not a good sign. Like last time, they would likely want to interrogate them for information. At last, the man walked into the room, but this one was different. The man was very light skinned, had a half-shaved cream colored Mohawk, green pants, long boots, and was wearing a bright red muscle shirt. What caught Chiya’s eyes immediately was the mysterious symbol in the corner of his muscle shirt, a gold hammer and sickle. This was the boss of Red Star, Brock Blaskovitz.
Brock grinned and began chuckling at the two, “Looks like we finally captured the heart of Seppuku’s army,” he said in a Russian accent.
“Blaskovitz, I presume?” Earl guessed.
He nodded back at him, “There will be no questions for me, Seppuku made the mistake of sending you to our favorite street, you were practically asking to be captured. I would ask you to thank him for me, but that will be quite impossible.”
“Seppuku, you damn fool…” Earl mumbled silently.
“What do you want with us?” A frightened Chiya demanded.
“I said no questions female!” he lectured, the veins in his muscles began to pop. Chiya was disturbed at the sight of this, instantly looking away from him. Brock was walking around the two slowly, “You stole parts from us, so I know that you two can engineer F-Zero. Which is why I have decided to give you options.”
Chiya and Earl both looked at each other, fearful of what was to happen.
“Option one is that I kill you two personally, option two is that you remain in our garage forever working on our machines.”
Earl nodded, “Nice options. What‘s up with this gang war anyways?”
Brock stood in front of the two with an angered expression, “I come from a time of Cold War, in a nation called the Soviet Union. I truly believed in the proletarian cause, I was a member of the secret service, and frozen voluntarily in lab testing.”
Earl shook his head in confusion, Brock wasn’t answering his question at all, “I have no idea what you’re talking about, that time period is so ancient to us.”
“You can imagine my surprise when I awake in the present day, to see that both the Soviet Union and United States have dissolved, and that Communism had failed. But I would not let the spirit die like this, so I formed the Red Star to form a new union, and how it has grown!”
“So you’re basically a time traveler…” Chiya said silently.
Earl nodded at Brock again, “I see what you’re saying, but why not just merge with the Bloody Chain?”
Brock spat on the ground, Chiya immediately looked at him in disgust, “The Bloody Chain are brutes, they have a different perspective on how things should be run, and I do not approve.”
“So you want us to work for you?” Chiya asked with a displeased look.
“-or we can just kill you,” he said throwing the barrel of his rifle right against Chiya’s forehead.
Earl panicked as Chiya was at gunpoint, “Well, I don’t know what it was but you made the choice much easier for us!” he said while fake laughing.
Brock lowered his assault rifle, “I am glad you see it my way…”
Later on Chiya and Earl were working inside of a huge garage with several hover bikes. Two guards stood watching them near the only door. Chiya and Earl were assigned to make sure that all vehicles worked properly and were in top shape.
Chiya carefully looked over at the two guards without turning her head, “Don’t those guards need guns?”
Earl revealed a slight smile, “I don’t usually joke around in these situations, but they already have guns,” he said referring to their muscles.
Chiya was working on a hover bike, but not very efficiently. She was more focused on finding a way out of the building. She looked over at the guards, who were both standing cross armed.
“We’re not really going to keep doing this are we?” she asked quietly.
Earl shook his head negatively, “Of course not, we just need to figure out how to escape first.”
Chiya grinned, “Exactly what I was thinking…”
The two continued to look around the room, the room itself wasn’t constructed well, but with the guards watching them so closely they would never get a chance to scan the room for an opening without looking suspicious. Chiya spun around looking for other doors in the room, but there were none, only the one that was guarded. The only other door was the massive garage door, which could only be opened via computer.
Earl looked down at Chiya and widened his eyes. He scratched his head and looked away with a feeling of discomfort, “So ignore the fact I was looking, but I notice something is bulging out of your right butt cheek…”
Chiya blushed and gritted her teeth, she turned around to hide her rear, “Th- that’s just my handgun…“ Chiya then widened her eyes, “Wait, but they confiscated it from me…”
Chiya had a surprised look on her face and checked around her waist for the object, but she was not finding anything in her two pockets. She quickly realized that the object was not in any pocket--it was literally in her shorts. She looked away from Earl in embarrassment and grabbed the object out of her shorts. Earl widened his eyes as he saw the object in her hand but made no sound. Chiya brought it up to her face, it was the key to the Red Dove that Seppuku always carried with the locate and autopilot button.
“Earl we have-”
“S----sh!”
Earl shook his hand constantly signaling her to be quiet, not wanting anyone else to hear about their discovery. For whatever the reason, Seppuku slipped his key into Chiya’s rear when she wasn’t looking. The only problem was that getting the garage door to open would be impossible. If they found a way to open the garage door they could easily break free by calling the Red Dove.
Earl was flicking his fingers constantly while thinking, he nodded and snapped his fingers, “Alright, I know what we can do. I’ll go ask if we can use a fitness center to get some muscles, then maybe I can find where to open the garage door.”
Chiya was staring at him in confusion as he was making little sense, “Why would he just let us use the fitness center?”
Earl shrugged, “Honestly, it’s just an idea I pitched. We could try and persuade him to let us in.”
Chiya was considering this, but then got a devious grin, “Actually yeah, you go do that, I have a plan of my own down here…”
Earl was curious what Chiya had come up with, but he held his questions and walked towards the guards. Chiya turned around and kneeled, opening up a hover bike’s engine. Earl approached the guards, who were all much more muscular than him.
“Hey, since we’re new here, I was wondering if I could see your fitness center,” Earl simply blurted out.
The guard bent over looking at him and momentarily pinched his arm, “Yeah bro! You could use some lifting! But you just wanna’ get out of here I bet!”
Earl fake chuckled at his accusation, “Get out of here? I don’t think I’m in a very good position to do that right now. I’m scrawny compared to you guys, and unarmed,”
The guard rubbed his chin, somehow being fooled by Earl, “I’ll go ask the Boss!” he said charging out of the garage.
The other guard was staring at Earl angrily. Earl felt easily intimidated and looked away from him, now looking back at Chiya. She was still working on the bike’s engine, not appearing to have any intentions of actually helping. Earl sighed, presuming that her plan was simply to wait for him to do everything himself. Earl was slightly disappointed in Chiya, having assumed that she was somewhat more brave of a person.
Not long after the guard left, Brock had come storming into the garage to meet Earl, “My guard says you want to leave already…”
Earl shook his head negatively, “Not true, I said I wanted to see your fitness center, Seppuku never had one, so I thought maybe that would motivate me to work more efficiently.” Brock hummed disapprovingly at Earl, initially not buying his story, “Hey I’m a wild person, if I like what I see, then I might even end up becoming an official Red Star supporter.”
Brock was rubbing his head suspiciously, he stared into Earl‘s eyes in an attempt to spot fear, he ultimately grinned at him, “I still do not trust you, so I will supervise you personally. Follow me.”
Earl widened his eyes and found that the plan was instantly collapsing. Earl wasn’t surprised that he would be watched if he managed to leave the garage, but having the boss watch him wasn‘t going to work. If it were anyone else watching Earl in the fitness center, then there may have been an opportunity to bribe them.
Moments later, the two walked into a large room full of weights everywhere. Nearly fifty people were exercising in the room, Brock and Earl stepped down a fleet of stairs to the bottom.
“This is it!” Brock said full of pride at his gym.
Earl truly was amazed at how expensive the room must have been, but since both gangs stole so often, it should not have been surprising to him. The equipment being used appeared to be top of the line bodybuilding machines.
“You can work here if you wish, but only when I am present…” Brock strictly explained.
Earl nodded, and looked around for something to do. He was hoping if he exercised long enough, Brock would leave him temporarily for something like a bathroom break.
“Boss! I’m bench pressing five-hundred pounds! Come spot me bro!” a gang member shouted.
“Five-hundred? Nice! I’ll spot you,” Brock said immediately approaching the man.
Earl was stunned at how fast his opportunity had come, he found this the best opportunity to run and find the control room. Earl quietly stepped back towards the stairs and climbed it quickly. He entered the main hallway, but had to hurry and find the main computer before he was uncovered.
Meanwhile Chiya was working on another hover bike. Suddenly one of the guards approached her. She could feel that someone was standing over her, but was pretending not to notice. She was startled at the sight of a large meaty arm slam against the hover bike.
“This one’s mine, pretty sweet huh?” he asked.
Chiya nodded slightly, “Y- yes, it’s very nice…”
The gangster scratched his neck and rolled his eyes, “Y’know, I was thinking that maybe my bike would be more sweet if you gave it a new slick decal…”
Chiya scratched the back of her head, choosing not to respond. Suddenly her stock hat was pulled off by the guard. She turned around angrily, “I’d like that back please…”
“Sure, sure…“ The muscular man began to twirl his foot around, “You know, you look pretty without your hat on,” he said flirtingly.
Chiya widened her eyes in amazement. Oh God, is this seriously happening, here and now..!?
“I was thinking, maybe I could turn on my hover bike and show yo-”
“No!” Chiya responded with very wide eyes.
The guard was staring at her in confusion, she then realized how suspicious she sounded. Chiya closed her eyes and giggled, “It’s u---uh, it’s not ready yet. Don’t turn it on…”
The guard continued to stand still as he stared into her eyes. He momentarily shrugged and walked away from her. Chiya exhaled in relief and turned back towards the bike, “Come on Earl…” she muttered to herself silently.
Earl had found that the master computer was in Brock’s office. His office had portraits everywhere of himself and more Red Star banners. There was one flag of the Soviet Union hanging across his desk. Earl was searching through the computer quickly for the building access section, this would allow him to open the garage door. Earl had come across something else, a map of where they were in Mute City. He caught a quick glimpse of the area they were in, but had more serious things to attend to. After looking through several things, he found the building access section. Without hesitation he pressed the large red button that said Emergency: Open All. Immediately after clicking this he realized the mistake he had made, as the entire building began to flash red with a siren going off.
“Oops…” he muttered while face palming.
Chiya was finishing up one last hover bike when she noticed that the garage door was opening. She began to panic, and without hesitation clicked the button on the Red Dove’s key, calling for the Red Dove to find her. If the Red Dove failed to come from the base to their current position, Chiya and Earl would need to run for their life.
Brock stopped watching his gangster exercise and spun around, not seeing Earl anywhere. Brock clapped his hands together angrily and glared, “Find them!”
Earl had grabbed a blunt object and constantly smashed the master computer, completely destroying it. This would set back Red Star for awhile, as they would no longer have any of their most valued information. Earl was about to leave when suddenly Brock and three other goons ran up to the door. Earl was staring at the furious gang leader, Brock then noticed the smashed computer and growled loudly.
“You deadbeat Korean!” he yelled angrily at Earl.
“Oh, Blaskovitz! Uh, I was just leaving!” Earl yelled as he slid under them. Earl had completely slipped under the group of gangsters.
“After him!” Brock angrily ordered
Earl was then being chased by everyone in the area. Within moments one of the goons grabbed an assault rifle that was attached to the wall and tried taking aim at Earl. They fired, but Earl rounded the corner of the hallway just in time.
Everyone had left the garage, and Chiya had just finished working on the last bike. She was hiding behind one of the bikes while waiting for Earl and the Red Dove. Earl soon ran in with about ten other gang members chasing him, luckily he was just in time, the Red Dove flew inside of the garage and opened its cockpit automatically.
Chiya immediately leapt into the drivers seat and set the GPS system, “Come on Earl, it’s time to go!”
Earl jumped in the backseat. Without even sitting down he grabbed the cockpit window and slammed it shut himself. Chiya wasted no time panicking and began to drive away moments after the cockpit closed. Brock ran up to the opened garage door, stomping angrily at the escaping Red Dove.
“Come on you fools, get on your bikes and kill those two!”
Several gang members got on their hover bikes and were ready to chase down the Red Dove.
“Chiya, they’re going to swarm us once they all get on their vehicles,”
Chiya nodded while trying to maneuver the streets, “Remember that plan I told you I had?”
All of the gang members were starting up their engines, Brock crossed his arms and was grinding his teeth, “Bring me their heads!”
Suddenly the bikes took off, but momentarily began to explode before they even made it out of the garage. Smoke and debris blew Brock back a few steps. He wiped his face and waited for the dust to get out of the way, “What the…”
Every single one of the bike engines were shot, one of the gang members jumped off of their bike and observed the destroyed engine on his bike, “Our engines, they were supercharged, like an F-Zero engine!” he explained to Brock loudly.
Brock screamed into the air angrily. He momentarily began walking towards a special door in the garage, “So they have an F-Zero machine. Two can play at that game!” he yelled while opening a door. Inside was a red hover bike. This was the only F-Zero machine ever made in the form of a bike, “If you want something done right, you do it yourself,” Brock said as he started up the engine.
The side of the F-Zero bike was labeled, Stalin’s Might, the bike was not an officially registered F-Zero machine however. He quickly took off and dodged all of the destroyed hover bikes. He was confident that he could intercept Chiya and Earl quickly.
Chiya looked at Earl, “Look’s like we’re home free!” she said while smiling happily.
Earl looked behind the Red Dove and could see the Stalin’s Might approaching them, “Not quite I’m afraid!” he said pointing to the rear.
Chiya gasped upon seeing the unfamiliar type of F-Zero machine approaching them from the left. Brock was grinding his teeth at the thought of smashing the Red Dove.
“Chiya, you’re going to have to combat him, just quickly shift left while holding the lock-turn button when he’s in sight.”
“Got it!” she responded quickly.
The Stalin’s Might was seconds away from making contact with the Red Dove. He was beginning to shift to the left even more, preparing for a side attack. Any F-Zero machine with a combat module could do a side attack, which was when a vehicle would slide to the side instantly with great force. Then there was the spin attack, where the vehicle spins quickly while still moving. Chiya was starting to panic at the limited options she had, but then had an idea. She began to go more to the far right, hugging the curb of the road.
“What are you doing?” Earl asked loudly.
“Going to try and trick him…”
The Red Dove was now practically on the sidewalk driving right against the buildings. Brock was now perfectly aligned to the far left of Chiya and was beginning to shift to the right some more. He was in a good position to pin her against the walls of the buildings.
“No, you can’t do this, you’re going to get us killed if you leave us this open for an attack,” Earl argued.
Chiya brushed off his comment and waited for a certain moment. The Stalin’s Might was now in range for a perfect attack. The first second the Stalin’s Might began sliding towards the Red Dove--Chiya hit the brakes. Brock commenced a right side attack, but was caught off guard as Chiya had suddenly come to a stop. Brock was sent right against the walls of the buildings. Sparks went amid the air as the Stalin’s Might was scraping against the buildings constantly while struggling to slow down.
“Good one, but that’s only making him angrier,” said Earl.
Brock spun his vehicle around, now facing the Red Dove head on. Brock growled to himself, “Not bad, but I am finishing this now…”
Suddenly another F-Zero machine was approaching the two with about ten other similar looking machines. It was the Wild Boar, Michael Chain’s machine. The Bloody Chain all drove machines that closely resembled the Wild Boar, but these machines were grey rather than orange and had no combat modules or boosters.
Brock was looking at his limited options, slamming his arms on the dashboard of the Stalin’s Might angrily. He decided to retreat quickly. For reasons unknown, the Red Dove was completely disregarded as the Bloody Chain simply pursued Brock Blaskovitz instead.
Chiya and Earl were left somewhat jaw dropped at what had just happened. Earl shrugged his shoulders calmly and looked at Chiya, “Well then, let’s go home,” an exhausted Earl said silently to her.
Seppuku was sitting in his office, he was working on the computer he had on his desk. Earl and Chiya momentarily stormed into the room angrily, “What was that all about!?” a frustrated Earl yelled.
Seppuku waved at him, “Hi.”
Chiya put the Red Dove’s key on his table, Seppuku grabbed it and put it back in his coat pocket. Earl was still waiting for a response but was getting nowhere. Seppuku appeared to be waiting for Earl to speak.
“Alright, how did you mess up that badly? You sent us into a hot zone for Red Star. We were intercepted and captured by them as a result. We were very lucky to have make it out of there alive!”
Seppuku chuckled at him, “Accidentally? That was intentional.”
Earl and Chiya both got shocked expressions, “What!?” they simultaneously responded.
Seppuku put his arms together and leaned over his desk towards the two, “I knew you would find nothing at that area, but I realize that Red Star is commonly watching over that area for Bloody Chain gangsters, so they would likely find you two sitting around and take you back to their base. If I played my cards right that is, and as long as Chiya didn’t do anything stupid.”
Chiya glared at Seppuku. He went back onto his computer, “I already went and got your vehicle, Bendek. Now I can look on the Red Dove’s GPS and get the location of their main headquarters, whenever I wish, as Chiya had called for it at that location.”
Earl exhaled angrily, “I see how it is then. I don’t want to be part of those kinds of missions anymore, and neither does Chiya.”
Chiya lowered her eyebrows and nodded in agreement, “Hm!”
Seppuku grunted disapprovingly and then nodded, “Fine.”
In the long run what had happened was that Seppuku set everything up. He wanted Chiya and Earl to go to this apparent Bloody Chain infested area just to be captured by Red Star. If things went as he had planned, they would have taken the two straight to Brock Blaskovitz, which is why Seppuku had put the Red Dove’s key in Chiya’s shorts.
The two waited for further orders, Seppuku was contemplating on what they could do next, “As I said, get the Red Dove ready for the next race, I have nothing for either of you to do tomorrow.”
Chiya was angry, but now realized that she could actually go and spend some money on much needed things in the Upper City. The risk of being ambushed by gang members remained, but Red Star was severely crippled without their gang bikes, leaving only the possibility of a Bloody Chain encounter.
Later on that night, everyone was asleep, except for Seppuku who was out in Mute City hunting for criminals. Chiya had awoken and felt the need to go for a walk. She quietly roamed the hallways, which was nearly pitch black. She was overly excited for the following day, as she would be able to do whatever she wants with all of the money she now possessed. She had entered the lobby and looked at the display cases, the one thing she immediately walked over to was the Blood Falcon helmet. After today’s events, it had become clear to her that the lives of Seppuku’s allies were expendable. This was making Chiya even more stressed. Seppuku seemed like a different person now that she was more associated with him, at first he seemed like a dark hero, but now he sounded like some kind of madman. Chiya needed answers immediately. Where was Seppuku’s loyalty: to helping others, or being self-centered?
