**Installment 8**
Einao watched as Nathavin roughly dragged Caellia back to the hut. He had seen the entire thing, from the moment Nathavin apparently heard her get up to him dragging her back to the hut. Sniffing slightly through his nose he turned back to the other dark elves. It wasn’t his problem anymore and he had no reason to go help her. She had banished him after all. He glanced at the now awakened dark elves as they noticed Nathavin and Caellia. They simply turned their backs and settled back down. None wanted to anger Nathavin further. They had served him long enough to know that he was terribly angry. A loud sound made him flinch and turn to face the hut again, Nathavin had kicked the door back and had flung Caellia in. The door slammed shut and silence filled the area.

Caellia cried out in pain as she was thrown face first into the back wall of the hut. It was pitch black and she couldn’t see a thing. Her eyes scrunched shut and tears fell as he savagely knotted her hair in his left hand to hold her in place as he broke the fletching from the shaft of the arrow with his right hand. He let go of her hair and spun her around by her shoulders to face him. Crossing his left hand under his right, he held her left shoulder against the wall as his right hand yanked the arrowhead and shaft the rest of the way out of her right shoulder. He angrily broke the bloodied arrow piece in half and tossed it aside, before releasing her, “Stay there and be silent.” He hissed angrily. He needed to find the bandages and clean her up. He stalked across the room to find a candle.
She stood fearfully in the dark as she listened to his footsteps cross the room. He lit a candle to give the room a little light, but he was in front of it so she couldn’t really see anything but his shadowy silhouette. As her eyes darted back and forth around the room trying to find anything that she might be able to use as a possible means of defense, she unconsciously walked a few steps forward. A slight noise from his direction caused her to abandon the search as he shifted his weight slightly. She took an unconscious step back when he shifted his weight slightly forward. She couldn’t tell what he was doing or thinking.
After finding the bandages, Nathavin watched her as she searched the room for a weapon. He smirked openly, knowing she couldn’t see it. He had shifted his weight to gain her attention, but he hadn’t expected her to step back. Experimenting, he took a full step forward and laughed lowly as she took two full steps back. “Afraid are we? You should be silver ranger. No one has gotten me this angry and lived before you.” She hadn’t seemed to have noticed yet that her blood was soaking her light armor.
She stared at him through her lowered lashes. She felt weak, and she was loosing her focus and had to repeatedly blink her eyes to bring him back into focus. What little she could see of him.
“I could’ve killed you Caellia. It wouldn’t have been hard. A slight misfire is all it would’ve taken for that arrow to pierce a vital organ, you know this, you are an archer. You were also unarmed, your back was to me, and I was in plain sight the second time you bolted in the woods.” He shook his head mockingly, the darkened silvery gray hairs falling over one eye. “I doubt that was how you were trained.” He took one measured step forward, she took one back. “Why didn’t you see me Caellia? Was it because you were afraid?” He took another step forward, and she took another step back. “Did you become frightened, little one?” He poured on the sarcasm, “Were you waiting on Goryn to come and save you?” She was almost against the back wall of the hut, two more steps would do it, but he only took one as his voice turned steely with barely suppressed rage. He rushed her so that her back was pressed against the back wall. “You accepted me as your King in front of Goryn, in front of my men, and in front of your people.” He stared down into her widened eyes with his own angry grey ones.
“You. Belong. To. Me. Never will you accept another as you King.” Pulling her away from the wall, he pushed her toward the makeshift bed. Pushing her down on it he began to unwind the bandages. Once he had unwound them and had them laid out on the bed in neat rows he turned to her. “You have soaked that armor and it must be removed and cleaned or the wound will become infected whether it’s bandaged or not.”
Caellia simply looked at him for the span of a heartbeat before realizing what he was asking her to do. Eyes widening, she shook her head no, “I will not remove my armor in front of you!”
“This is no time for modesty Princess. You’ve lost a lot of blood and the wound must be cleaned before it is bandaged.” He watched as the candlelight played with her finely sculpted face as her emotions played openly on her features.
“Get out.” Caellia whispered. She began to say more when he suddenly stood up and moved behind her on the bed. She tried to move away but wasn’t fast enough as he caught her and held her in place. He began to run his fingers through her hair slowly and evenly. “What are you doing?” Nathavin said nothing and continued his ministrations to her hair. She shook herself slightly as she began to feel more relaxed. Caellia knew she was in trouble. Her body was not obeying her at all. She didn’t know what he was doing, but she wasn’t able to fight it
His hands continued to ply her hair in a slow, soothing manner as his roughened voice dropped an octave. “Relax Caellia,” his hands continued to work through her scalp, his skilled fingers finding all the correct magical receptors, “allow your body to relax.” He smirked as she once again straightened up and shook herself. This was one spell that had never been taught to him. It was purely his own and she was obviously too inexperienced to combat it, although that didn’t keep her from trying. The more she tried the stronger the spell would be. “Close your eyes Caellia.” Her body had fallen completely limp after he began to speak lowly and softly in her ear. Slowly even her eyes fell closed as his velvet voice further enhanced the spell.
Nathavin stopped speaking and stroking her hair when he was sure the spell was in control. He then removed her top armor and took a soft piece of fabric and dipped it in magic salve and began to clean the wound free of splinters. All the while he couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she truly was. He was finding it hard to concentrate and keep his eyes from straying. It was the long scar on her abdomen that proved his undoing as his fingers wandered the length of the scar, stopping only when the scar passed beneath her armored skirt. He quickly snatched his fingers away, disgusted with his lack of control. Resuming his original task, his fingers expertly probed the wound for any stray pieces of trash before applying the healing ointment and wrapping the bandages around her shoulder.
She was still well aware of what was happening but was powerless to stop it. Her breath hitched in her throat when she felt his hands travel the length of the scar she had received battling satyr elders in an enchanted valley many years ago. She tried to move once more, but the spell still would not release her from its powerful grip.
Once done, he released the spell and shoved her fully onto the bed before growling out, “One of the casters will be here in a minute. I will be just outside this door. Any attempt at escape will bring you more harm.” With that, he snatched the door open and slammed it shut after him.
Caellia listened as he stepped away from the door slightly and was involved in a conversation she could hear nothing of. A moment later the door opened to reveal a scantily clad dark elven female. She said nothing as she looked at Caellia and softly closed the door. She took her time looking the wounds over from that distance, allowing Caellia a few moments to calm down slightly before saying, “I won’t hurt you. I’m here to help you. I know you don’t trust me and that’s alright, I’ve done nothing to gain your trust. But what I tell you is the truth I am not here to harm you.”
She slowly advanced into the room, she was half afraid Caellia would panic. The girl had every reason to be nervous. Nathavin had been brutal in his dealing with her. As she got closer she began to sing a spell ever so softly. She finished the spell as soon as she reached Caellia and was able to catch her before she fell over. She placed Caellia on the bed and ran a quick glance over the bandages, they were a little too tight, but they would be fine. She stepped back outside and saw Nathavin holding onto a strange and very old scroll and staring at it in deep thought. She cleared her throat a little to gain his attention, “She is asleep now. The spell will not last to long, but she will sleep through the rest of the night if there are no interruptions.”
“Very good Kattath, I wish to leave as soon as possible for Goddard when day breaks. Make sure the troops are ready and don’t let the orcs go hunting for food. They will take all day.” He then turned and walked into the hut, sure that his orders were going to be carried out with the utmost speed and precision he’d become accustomed to from Kattath.
Inside, he covered Caellia with the blanket from earlier and took a spare one for himself and spread it on the floor beside the door. He was taking no chances this time. If she wanted out, she would have to cross over him to get to the door.

Goryn let out a frustrated sigh. He’d gone through all the scrolls in his library and had come up with more questions than he had to begin with. The scrolls he had found had confirmed that there was a special significance in the name ‘Caellia Kennyrmitore’. However, it did not specify what that significance was. It did refer to a ‘contract’, but there was no information on that. The other thing was the fact that the name ‘Rilynmitore’, kept popping up throughout the scrolls. It was obviously a part of the ‘contract’ and the two names were definitely related. The question was why.
Flinging the worthless scrolls down on his desk he stood up. The Aden library would have more information on this and it was near Goddard. He could also wait no longer to go find Caellia no matter what his healers said. He summoned his generals and began to prepare a battle plan to siege Goddard and get Caellia back. He also decided to send a trusted advisor to go see the Aden library to find all information that might pertain to his scrolls.
*****
In the end, they all had to travel to Aden. Goryn needed to request help from King Asadar to fill their ranks out properly. It had taken them several days to create a workable siege plan after that. Goddard was a huge fortress and it would be a long grueling siege.
He had also discovered some distressing news regarding the scrolls. He was shocked at what he had learned. Caellia Kennyrmitore, when translated, actually came from both the light elven tongue and the dark elven tongue. ‘Caellia’ literally translated into ‘archer mistress’, while ‘Kennyrmitore’ meant ‘sworn to the moon’. ‘Caellia’ was a pure light elven name. ‘Kennyrmitore’ was a mixture of both light and dark elven names, ‘Kennyr’ being the light half while ‘mitore’ was the dark half.
There was also mention of a dark elven family, the former Lord Amaldrin Rilynmitore. If ‘Rilynmitore’ was translated it meant ‘house of the moon’. Taken in that context, ‘Caellia Kennyrmitore’ actually meant, ‘archer mistress sworn to the moon’. Lord Amaldrin Rilynmitore was the Lord of the ‘house of the moon’. Caellia had been sworn to his house by her own parents! Her parents had arranged for her to marry the dark elven Lords’ son! Why? Where was the son? Who was he? The name had been blotted out so no one could read the dark Princes’ name.
He read on to find out how the two Lords had been assassinated and the contract was never fulfilled. But the question remained, was the dark elven Prince still alive? If he was then the contract was still valid. But what if he didn’t know about the contract? There were so many questions still and he needed to find the answers and soon. They marched to Goddard in one week. He would need to know by then. He would know by then.
