Chapter 9
Sen’krii woke first, the bright rays of the sun dappling his body through the leaves of the trees. A stray ray of light had fallen across his eyes and had caused him to stir. Almost immediately after, he could hear a voice off in the distance, nowhere near close enough to answer or to fully rouse him from sleep, but his strong ears were able to pick up the calls.
His mind was a mess. He couldn’t seem to focus on any one thought, nor did he have any idea where he currently was. Slowly, he cracked an eye open, the sun momentarily blinding him. As he started to shift, he felt something soft and warm beneath him. At first, he thought he’d fallen asleep against Tanga, which wasn’t too odd of an occurrence, but it didn’t feel like fur beneath him, and there was a scent that was tickling his senses that was definitely not Tanga. Moving his arms, he slid his hands around trying to find purchase to heave himself up. The moment he started moving, his muscles protested. ‘What in the hell?’ He hadn’t woken up this sore in an awfully long time. Finally, his hands found the hard, leaf covered branch and he pushed himself up while he shook his head trying to clear the fog that had filled his mind.
The second he had lifted himself up into an almost complete push up, everything came racing back with the sight of the sleeping elf beneath him. Carefully, and against his protesting muscles, Sen’krii worked himself down the elf’s body, so he was crouching on the branch near her feet. He didn’t want to wake the sleeping beauty for he was highly enjoying the sight of her.
Taylin was still fast asleep, her body splayed out along the branch. Sunlight dappled her soft purple flesh, long lashes dusting her cheeks, her silky hair spilling over the branch with a few random leaves tangled within the tresses, and her swollen lips parted softly with each breath. In short, she was breathtaking. And Sen’krii couldn’t help but admire her sleeping form.
As his eyes traveled every inch of her, he took in not only her beauty, but the residual evidence of their love making. Dark bruises on her hips where he had gripped her, a few light scratches here and there most likely from his tusks, the dried residue along her inner thighs, it all made his heart swell with love and pride. Though one thing in particular caught his eye. The dark, dried blood around her throat and between her breasts. His bite was still angry and red, though already starting to heal. His fangs had punctured deeper than he had realized, though to be fair, he had been lost in the red haze of beastial lust at the time. A small pang of guilt and remorse swept through him. Pain was not something he ever wanted to cause this creature again. ‘No, not creature, Mate,’ swept through his thoughts. And it was true. With his mark at her throat, she was his mate. A mate mark it was, he had been riding the bloodlust when he bit and though he couldn’t remember biting his tongue to infuse his blood into the bite, he could smell it within the bite. Any troll, and most Horde for that matter, would recognize immediately at the sight of that mark that she belonged to a troll.
Thoughts started racing through Sen’krii’s head. ‘What were they going to do now? And with her memories returned, Taylin would certainly want to see her friends and family again. Though she had made it clear last night that she wanted to be with him. But would she regret being mated to him? And would she want to complete the mating ritual and mark him?’ Sen’krii knew that he wanted her to mark him as well. He wanted this to be a true mating, he wanted to be hers just as much as she was his. A one-sided mark meant that while she belonged to him, he was still free to do as he pleased. He could take others for mates if he so wished or simply abandon her when he chose. But that wasn’t what he wanted. He knew of other trolls that had several mates, but that wasn’t for him. Hell, he originally never thought he’d take any mate. He enjoyed the freedom to go where he pleased and bed whoever struck his fancy. But this elf had wormed her way into his heart, and he could never stray from her even if he wanted to. She was able to both excite and calm the bloodlust within him. No one else would ever be able to do it for him. Taylin was his and he was hers. End of story.
There was no doubt in his mind that Taylin loved him, but would she want this too? Would she be willing to give up everything, especially with the return of her memories, to be with him for the rest of their lives? ‘And what’s Kreeva going to think,’ Sen wondered. ‘She’ll be overjoyed,’ Sen thought with a roll of his eyes. Kreeva had been not so subtly hinting at her approval at the two for months, much to his annoyance. And as though his thoughts of his sister had called to her, he heard that voice again, closer this time. His thoughts set aside; he strained his ears to listen to his sister’s calls. Realizing that she was much closer than before, Sen quickly and quietly redressed so as not to awaken the sleeping elf or to give away their location.
Sen’krii came upon a worried Kreeva only a few moments later. Immediately, Kreeva had launched into a long series of questions. Asking where Taylin was, if she was alright, what happened the night before, etc. Sen ran a hand through his tangled crest. When Kreeva asked where the two of them were all night, she eyed him with suspicion. Kreeva saw a light pink tinge his cheeks and was about to start in on that specific line of questioning when Sen finally held his hand up to her, silencing her. “Enough Kree, Taylin is alright. But I need to get back to her before she wakes up.” Before he could say anything else, Kreeva yelled at him. “You left her alone in the jungle asleep? What if someone or something finds her?” “Don’t worry, she’s safe from anyone finding her. I left her up in a tree, but if she wakes suddenly, she could fall,” Sen answered quickly. Kreeva began rubbing her temples. Her frustration with her brother coming in close behind her worry over the elf. “I’m not even going to ask why she’s asleep in a tree, but you better go get her and then explain to me what in Azeroth happened last night and where you two have been.”
The dusting of pink returned to Sen’s cheeks and Kreeva grinned internally. She could only imagine what they had been doing all night. Sen’krii just nodded and hurried back into the woods. Sighing, Kreeva began heading back to her home. She couldn’t wait to hear Sen and Taylin’s explanation. But she knew she was going to have a fun time teasing her brother. It seemed he had finally mated the elf, for Kreeva could smell Taylin’s scent all over her brother.
Once Sen’krii returned to the elf’s side, he carefully gathered her into his arms. She was still sound asleep. Last night’s events must have completely worn the elf out for her to be still sleeping soundly. Carefully, Sen wrapped Taylin in the cloak to keep her modesty in tack and began to quickly maneuver through the jungle back to the home he shared with Kreeva.
As Taylin awoke, she slowly became aware of two immediate things. First, her entire body was stiff and very sore. Every muscle burned or ached and acted as though she had just fought Kil’Jaden himself. And secondly, she was no longer in the tree she and Sen’krii had spent the night in. Instead, she was back in Sen’s room of his family’s hut. This fact brought with it the sudden realization that she was alone.
Her fears started to run away with her. Had Sen actually abandoned her after all. ‘Why wasn’t he here?’ she thought. ‘Were his words just that, nothing but empty words?’ Her mind was starting to cause panic to swell within her racing heart. Just as she thought her world and her heart were about to shatter, Sen’krii entered the room.
Taylin all but launched herself into Sen’s arms. The incredibly surprised troll quickly wrapped his arms around the frantic elf. Feeling her heart pounding in her chest, Sen ran his hands up and down her bare back. “Wha be da mattah mah elfie?” He asked the trembling elf.
At his words and his touch, Taylin immediately began to calm down. Staggering back a few steps, Taylin collapsed onto the edge of the bed. “I’m sorry Sen, but waking up here without you I panicked. I thought you had left me and not meant what was said last night,” Taylin answered as she downcast her eyes to the floor. She felt embarrassed for getting so easily worked up over nothing and a bit ashamed for having jumped to the worst of him. Sen was a bit hurt that she could so easily think that he could so easily dismiss everything he had said, but he could also see her point of view after waking up alone when they had only barely revealed themselves to each other. Sen’s thoughts were interrupted with a hiss of pain from Taylin as she rubbed her neck and held her abdomen. ‘Guess I was a little rough,’ he inwardly smirked.
Quickly he knelt before Taylin, “Ah ya alrigh?” he asked as he rested his hands lightly on her thighs and looked her in the eyes. Taylin blushed as the memories of last night flashed through her mind, reminding her of why her body was so stiff and sore. “Yeah, nothing a long hot bath wouldn’t fix. But I’m not complaining,” she added with a slight smirk. Taylin still felt a bit shy and awkward around Sen’krii and wasn’t exactly sure how to act. She herself had never been in any kind of real relationship and she was unsure of Sen’s history. So, she just sat there, smiling like a love drunk fool. Besides, her aches and pains gave her a simple excuse on why she may seem out of it.
Sen couldn’t help but chuckle to himself at both her words and her current state. He was imagining all the different things he could do to her while in the tub, and she just looked so damn cute with that lost look upon her face and her cheeks still tinged with her blush. Sen’krii smiled wide at Taylin and offered her his hand as he stood up. “I be guessin’ dat ya be wantin’ a bath when ya wake up. I alredeh got it goin’ fo ya,” he finished with a wink. Taylin could only smile and stammer out a thank you as she took his hand. However, instead of just helping her up, Sen pulled her to him and swept her up bridal style in one swift motion. Taylin had released a short cry of surprise and glared at the grinning troll. “I can walk just fine, thank you,” she snapped out at being caught off guard. “Ahm sure ya can, but I be enjoyin’ dis much mo, plus I know ya still be sore. So, dis be easiah on ya, mah elfie,” Sen replied with a huge grin as he headed out of the bedroom and towards the back of the hut where the bathing room was located.
Taylin crossed her arms with a huff, but gave in. She was sore after all and being in Sen’s arms was not the worst thing in the world. When Sen opened the door to the bathing area, Taylin felt the air thick with steam and smiled. A hot bath sounded absolutely amazing. After squirming a bit, Sen finally set Taylin back on her feet.
Reaching down, Taylin ran her hand through the water in the tub. It felt wonderful. Hot, but not scalding. Stepping back, Taylin unwrapped the cloak that was still wrapped tightly around her body. Sen’krii released a small appreciative growl as she dropped the cloak. Glancing over her shoulder, Taylin couldn’t help the shudder that ran through her. Sen was looking at her hungrily, his tongue running over his lips. He was leaning against the doorframe, wearing nothing but his leather pants and the feathered skull necklace. His arms were crossed, and he caught her eyes, grinning like the cat that ate the canary. It brought back vivid memories of waking up that first day after Sen had found her and realizing she had lost all her memories. Only this time she wasn’t afraid or helpless. With her own canary eating grin, Taylin sauntered up to Sen’krii and slid her hands up his arms to rest on his biceps. “You going to stand there and gawk all day or are you going to help me into the bath?” she asked boldly while looking him straight in the eyes.
Sen’krii’s smile got wider, showing off his sharp teeth as he brought his hands down to rest on Taylin’s hips. “I taught ya nevah ask,” he smirked out as he drew his hands upwards, letting them rest just to either side of her breasts on her rib cage. Slowly, he slid his hands further up, his thumbs barely brushing along the side of each breast, before moving them to rest on her shoulders. Sen’krii looked her up and down, admiring the view. “Ya be one sexeh Night Elf. Lookin’ like a goddess standin’ dere in nothin.’ You gotta be da most beautiful ting I evah seen,” Sen said as he slid a knuckle under her chin, tilting her face up to him. He lowered his head and carefully slipped his tusks on either side of her face and captured her lips in a soul searing kiss.
Happily, Taylin returned the kiss, pouring her heart into it. She draped her arms over his broad shoulders, encircling his neck and pulling him closer. When she finally broke away for air, she was completely breathless. “Who knew the cold, ruthless, troll hunter could speak such honeyed words,” she teased. “Wha canna say, ya melted dis cold ‘eart ah mine,” Sen answered with a shrug and a genuine smile. A small blush had bloomed across his cheeks, but he couldn’t take his eyes off the beauty in front of him. “Now, bout dat bath, mah elfie. Da watah be coolin’ off.”
Without a word, Taylin gave him a quick kiss and headed to the tub. Slowly, she lowered herself into the warm water. Fully seated, the water came to about halfway up her breasts. Once she was settled, she leaned back against the rim and looked over to Sen, “Coming?” Her voice was low and sultry, and Sen wasted no time in stripping out of his leathers and stepping to the side of the tub. “Scoot up, mon,” Sen told her, making shooing motions with his hands. Taylin had enjoyed her full view and was so entranced by his body, she barely registered his voice. Shaking her head to clear out the haziness, “I’m sorry, wha?” she asked. With a chuckle, Sen repeated himself, and this time Taylin scooted forwards just enough for Sen to slide in behind her. The round tub was just big enough to accommodate both of them, though Sen had to keep his legs bent sharply at the knee on either side of Taylin. Her legs, on the other hand, were only slightly bent and were resting against Sen’s. With Sen’krii’s added mass, the water sloshed a bit over the side, coming to level out just under her shoulders.
Once Sen’krii had situated himself, Taylin relaxed back against his chest. The warm water and the heat seeping into her from his body were soothing away all her aches and pains. Feeling Taylin starting to relax, Sen’krii used his strong hands to rub and massage Taylin’s back, neck, and shoulders. He learned where she was more sensitive and could coax soft mews and moans out of her when he paid those areas particular attention.
Taylin was in heaven. She had no idea how his overly large hands and fingers could maneuver across her skin and sore muscles so easily and masterfully. Everywhere Sen touched, her body relaxed and loosened. All her pain was seeping out of her body with every caress and touch from Sen’s artful hands. Taylin was so at ease, she could almost fall back asleep. Almost because something was currently pressed against her lower back that had gotten her attention. Apparently, her moans had affected the troll behind her a bit more then she had realized. Normally she would have been embarrassed, but Taylin was so relaxed she didn’t think it would be possible for her to be out of sorts. That is until Sen’krii’s hands started to wander. But then again, his hands still felt wonderful.
As soon as Sen’krii had felt Taylin fully relax and become boneless in his hands, he allowed his hands to drift over other parts of her body. Places even more sensitive to his touch. Her mews of pleasure had awakened his hunger for her, so he was determined to awaken hers. They were mates now, so there was no way he was going to be able to keep his hands off her. Without any hesitation, Sen’krii smoothly transitioned his hands from rubbing up and down Taylin’s sides to fully cupping her breasts, his calloused thumbs rubbing across her pert nipples. He gave each breast a gentle squeeze before softly tweaking each nipple. Taylin’s soft mews shifted to something deeper, throatier. Sen’krii knew he had her right where he wanted her as her legs shifted, spreading ever so slightly as if it was done unconsciously.
With the barest of touches, Sen’krii skimmed his right hand down her body, his fingertips ghosting over the heated flesh. Their last encounter had been almost feverish, this time he wanted to take his time and learn every curve and line of his mate’s body. Every touch garnered a reaction from his mate. A soft moan or a shift of her body to bring her closer to him or his hand. He was thoroughly enjoying his exploration and it seemed she was as well.
Taylin’s eyes closed as she leaned her head back on Sen’s shoulder. Her body was flush with warmth from both his ministrations as well as the warm water. She couldn’t believe how tender he was being as his hands traveled across the panes of her body. When his hand suddenly dipped low to the crevice between her legs, she bit back a moan, but her legs wantonly spread for him. Her body was acting on its own accord as Sen started to play her like a fiddle.
Sen watched as Taylin’s chest rose and fell with her quickened breaths. He had started to slide his finger back and forth across her sensitive bud. Her arms had fallen to her sides and her hands were clenching at his thighs, her nails slightly digging into his skin. He absolutely loved how expressive she was. Seeing what he could do to her was only making his desire rise further. Taylin’s moans reached his ears, and out of the corner of his eye he could see her lower lip trapped tightly between her teeth. This only spurred him on as he sped up the pace of his hand. The ripples in the water becoming even more agitated.
Heat was quickly searing its way through Taylin’s body from her lower abdomen. She could feel her body starting to tremble. Not wanting to be too loud, she bit down harder on her lip to keep the loud moans from escaping, drawing a small bead of blood which trickled down her chin to drop into the water. At the faint smell of blood, Sen’s eyes became rimmed in crimson. His need for his mate becoming almost all encompassing. His left hand locked tightly around her breast while he slid one finger deep into her passage. When Taylin’s hips started to buck against his hand, he slid his tusks over her shoulder and bit down. Taylin’s movements froze when she heard a predatory growl at her shoulder and felt his teeth press into her skin. It wasn’t hard enough to draw blood, but it certainly got her attention. Feeling her comply to his demands, Sen quickened his pace once more. Thrusting his finger faster before adding a second. He wanted his mate to know he was the one in charge and he couldn’t be happier at her complete submission.
Taylin’s body was already teetering on that edge. When his second finger entered her, she lost control. Her body spasmed tightly around his digit as that tightly wound cord snapped. A moan in the form of Sen’s name slid across her lips as her body collapsed against his. Feeling her come undone, Sen’krii slowed his pace and leisurely pumped his fingers into her a few more times, letting her ride the aftershocks of the orgasm. Slowly he slid his fingers from her and gave her swollen nub a playful pinch. Taylin let out a loud squeak as her hips jerked forward at the unexpected feeling. She slapped at his thighs with both hands halfheartedly. “Ass,” she muttered out, still mostly breathless.
Coming back to his senses a bit, Sen’krii released a chuckle as he removed his teeth from her shoulder. “Canna help it, love. Da sounds ya be makin’ be music to dese ears. An I can’ wait ta make mah mate sing when I claim ‘er again,” Sen whispered the last bit into her ear before giving it a long lick. Taylin shuddered. His words causing her lower body to tighten. Until one word made itself known to Taylin’s lust hazed brain. ‘Did he just call me mate?’ her mind reeled. Calmly, Taylin tilted her head back and to the side to be able to look Sen in the face. “Mate?” Outwardly she may be coming off as calm, but inside her heart was doing back flips in giddy happiness. She knew most Horde members referred to their husbands or wives as mates, so to hear him call her mate made her heart swell.
Realizing his mistake, Sen’krii wrapped his arms tightly and possessively around Taylin’s upper body, trapping her to him. Inhaling deeply, “Ya, mon. I be claimin’ ya as mah mate. Dat bite at ya neck be proof o’ dat.” Unconsciously, Taylin’s hand reached up to rest her fingers at the still slightly sore bite mark at the curve of her neck and shoulder. She could remember when he had bitten her but hadn’t realized the significance of it. “But dun worreh, I be wantin’ ya ta complete da mate ritual an mark meh too,” Sen added. At her confused expression Sen continued, “In troll culture, ya be belongin’ ta meh. But without ya mark, I be doin’ whatevah I wan. I dun belong ta ya, least not yet. Tink o’ it like da weddin’ rings of da ‘umans. Dey show dat dey be belongin’, but when one takes it off, it be lookin’ like dey free. Or dat dey be hidin’ dat dey be takin’. Without yo mark, otha females be tinkin’ I still free. But I dun wan dat. I be wantin’ ta be yours Tay, if ya still be wantin’ meh. An if ya willin’ ta be mine an’ onleh mine,” Sen’krii finished as he released a long breath. He didn’t usually speak this much, but lately he found himself talking more than usual because of this woman. It took a lot out of him. Not only speaking this much but showing so much emotion and vulnerability. She could begin or end his world with her answer.
Their blood and the water both having cooled significantly, Taylin decided it was best to continue this conversation elsewhere. Giving Sen a gentle pat to his knee, “Sen, if you’re asking what I believe you’re asking then I’d like to continue this conversation in our room.” She had deliberately referred to Sen’s room as theirs. She wasn’t hiding the fact that she would no longer be sleeping alone. With only a slight nod from Sen’krii, their conversation was put on hold. Both their minds drifted as they quickly cleaned up, though Taylin had to repeatedly swat Sen’s wandering hands away from her. Once finished, they let the dirty water drain out the side to a small ditch Kreeva’s husband had dug that led down the hill at the back of the hut.
Sen’krii quickly shimmied into a clean loincloth that he had brought in earlier when setting up the bath, and then pulled his leather pants on. He then reached for a large cloth towel and wrapped it securely around Taylin. Quietly they both headed back to the hut. Kreeva sat at the table and eyed the two as they stepped through the doorway. With a glare from Sen, she kept her mouth shut. He had told her he wouldn’t answer any questions until Taylin was awake and up to the long explanations. Kreeva’s questions burned on her tongue, but she only turned her head away. She’d let the two come to her when they were ready. She knew better then to push Sen, especially involving something as delicate as this. He never spoke much about his feelings, and she wasn’t one to pry. And honestly, she was happy for them. She could tell just by looking that they were in love. And if the bite on Taylin’s neck was any indication, they were happily mated. Though she did notice the lack of a mark on her brother. Just another question to file away until she was allowed to open the flood gates on her questions.
When Taylin saw Kreeva, she had lowered her gaze to the floor and had quickened her steps. She knew she had a lot of explaining to do. But right now, she and Sen had an important discussion to finish. She felt sorry for leaving Kreeva in the dark. She had come to love the female troll as an older sister. And if what she understood about Sen’krii’s intentions, she really would be a sister. With a final glance at Kreeva out of the corner of her eye, Taylin quickly stepped into Sen’s room.
Sen’krii silently thanked his sister for her silence. He knew Taylin wasn’t up to that conversation just yet. Plus he knew being in nothing but a towel was causing her to feel awkward. Sure, both he and his sister had seen everything she had to offer, but that didn’t mean Taylin felt comfortable. As soon as he could, he and Taylin would explain everything to his sister. But for now, they had other things to worry about.
Silently Sen slipped into his room behind Taylin and shut the door, giving them some privacy. Taylin wandered over to his dresser and pulled out one of his linen under shirts. Pulling it over her head, she let the towel drop to the floor. The shirt was large enough that it came to about mid-thigh on her. Even in his simple linen shirt she looked stunning. His mouth was already watering at the thought of pulling his shirt off her and revealing her toned body beneath. But, he cut those thoughts short. The earlier conversation still ringing in his ears, and especially her lack of answers. With a sigh, Sen settled himself on the edge of his bed and grabbed a comb off his dresser. Slowly he started to work the knots out of his hair while Taylin gathered her thoughts. He was going to let her start when she was ready. He had said his piece, it was her turn.
Having covered herself, Taylin felt a bit more ready to face the troll leisurely combing his hair behind her. She wasn’t quite sure where to begin, but things needed to be said. She needed to fully understand his intentions. And if she truly was ready to give up everything to be with him. With a sigh, she began, “So, this mating thing. I take it, it’s like marriage?” Glancing up at her, Sen put the comb down. ‘Guess she’s ready to talk, and she’s getting right to the point.’ With a slight nod, he answered, “Ya, mate. I be askin’ ya ta be mah wife. Mah mate. I nevah thought dat I be takin’ a mate, but ya stole mah ‘eart. Guess ya be a ’elluvah rogue.” He finished with a chuckle. She smiled at him. “Is this what you want? Truly? You really want me to be your wife…er mate?” she asked with uncertainty. “Yes. Ya be da onleh one fo’ meh. I be wantin’ ya to mark meh. I wan’ ta be wit ya fo’ da rest of our lives. If ya be havin’ dis troll,” he answered while looking into her eyes. When he finished, he downcast his gaze to his folded hands in his lap. With a heavy breath, Taylin flopped down next to him on the bed. Turning and crossing her legs Indian style, she faced Sen’krii. “I…,” she began before faltering. Trying again, “I have no idea what our future might hold, but I know we’ll be able to face it together. I still need to contact my family and Cadren somehow. I need to let them know I’m alright. But what I’m trying to say is yes. I want to be with you too. I want to be your wife. Your mate.” Her breath hitched as she looked at Sen, his eyes wide in disbelief. A large smile slid across his lips. “Ya jus’ made me da happies’ troll evah,” he said with love shining in his eyes.
Reaching out, Sen practically dragged Taylin into his lap. Surrounding her with his arms, and careful of his tusks, he crashed his lips to hers. With a startled squeak, Taylin wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in closer. Their mouths and tongues danced against one another. Both vying for dominance, and neither willing to yield. Finally, Taylin succumbed and submitted to her mate. Her tongue retreating into her mouth with Sen’s quickly following. He ran the tip of his tongue over her sharp fangs, and then along the edge of her bottom lip. Indulging himself, he pressed his teeth into her bottom lip, giving it a slight tug before releasing it to lean back and look at the blushing elf before him. Taylin’s lips were swollen, and her chest heaved as her lungs sought much needed air. Sen’s kiss had left her quite literally breathless.
Once her racing heart had calmed, she looked up at Sen, “So what do I need to do to finish the mating mark?” With a sexy smirk, he answered, “Da next time dat we make luv, ya gotta bite me, but ya gotta put yer own blood inta da bite as well. Push a part o’ ya very self inta da bite. Dat make it permanent. It be healin’ but da bite nevah be gone.”
Looking into his eyes, Taylin searched for any trace of doubt. Only finding love and concern reflected in his sunset orbs, Taylin steeled her nerve. “Before we do this, there’s a few questions I have left and some things that need to be said.” “Like wha’, mon?” Sen asked, concern evident in his tone of voice. Lowering her eyes to their laps, Taylin allowed her thoughts to flow freely from her lips. “Not right now, but someday I may want a family. And knowing how upset you were about Eran’ji’s mixed blood, will you be alright with the idea of having a child with me?” Before Sen could answer, Taylin continued, “And as I’ve already said, I need to contact my home and see my family and Cadren again. To at the very least explain what happened. I don’t know how much I may tell them about us, but I want them to at least know I’m alright and happy. Then there’s the question of us. Where will we live, and how are we going to make this work? I don’t want to give up my life as a rogue for hire and I can’t ask you to give up your position in the Horde. I know we won’t be welcome on either side, so how do we make it work? I know Kreeva and Aaron had made a life, but I don’t think I’m cut out to just disappear into the jungle and be a kept wife. There’s still so much of the world I want to see. And speaking of Kreeva, I was wondering why I’ve never seen a mate mark on her. If what you say is true, that it’s permanent, shouldn’t she have a mark? As much in love as they were, I can’t imagine them not marking each other,” Taylin’s flurry of words finally ended as she wrang her hands. Worry was etched into the small lines around her eyes. She hadn’t realized how worried or stressful the whole thing had made her until the words had started flowing. She was a jumbled mess of concerns and she hoped Sen’krii had some answers for her.
Sensing that Taylin had finally finished putting all her worries on the table, Sen began to carefully mull over everything she had said. Deciding to start with the easiest question, he began with his sister. “Kreeva’s mark faded years ago. It be true dat da mark be permanent, but if one o’ da pair die, da magic dat binds dem starts ta fade. Dat way, da one left behin’ can move on if dey wan’. Hers be gone bout two years o’ so now.” He remembered waking up to the sounds of his sister crying. She had been distraught after losing one more thing that tied her to her mate. Especially something so intimate.
‘Now to put her at ease about her family,’ Sen thought as he continued. “As fo’ ya home ‘n famleh, course I wan’ ya ta see dem again. Famleh be important. An I be undahstandin’ if ya don’ wan’ ta tell dem bout meh o’ us. I’ll even travel wit’ ya as fa’ as I can.” He had already given this some thought. They could travel from Booty Bay to Ratchet. The ships took both Horde and Alliance, so their presence wouldn’t draw too much attention if they kept their distance from each other. Once in Ratchet, they could travel north through the Barrens and into Ashenvale. They’d have to stay clear of the Gold Road because it was too highly patrolled by both Horde military and Horde adventurers out to make a name for themselves. He also knew that though Ashenvale was crawling with Sentinels, he knew of a few secret paths that would keep them well hidden and away from the larger settlements like Astranaar. He knew it would be dangerous for the two of them to travel together in both territories, but Sen’krii didn’t care. He would never willing leave Taylin’s side whenever he could help it. Plus he’d be too worried about her safety if he let her go alone. It wasn’t that he doubted her abilities, it was more just needing the peace of mind that keeping her in his sights would give.
Taylin seemed to be contemplating his words. “You’d really come with me? Even into the Elf territory of Ashenvale?” she asked in both awe and worry. She knew the dangers if they were to travel together. And while it would have been faster for her to go alone, she really didn’t want to be separated from Sen’krii for too long. Her heart ached just thinking about it. When Sen only nodded, she stated, “Then I’d like to send a letter to Cadren before the end of the week. So we’ll need to make a trip to Booty Bay soon.”
“Dat be no problem, mon,” Sen replied. They would need to stock up on travel supplies anyways, as well as find out when the next ship was scheduled to depart for Ratchet. He also needed to get some supplies for Kreeva, so she’d be alright for a while. There was no telling how long they were going to be gone and he wanted his sister to be taken care of, at least for a while. He knew she could take care of herself, but part of him felt responsible for her. She may be the older of the siblings, but since she had lost both her mate and child, Sen had become a tad overprotective.
‘And now for an easy, yet difficult answer,’ Sen thought as he opened his mouth to speak. “As fo’ kids…” Sen trailed off as he scratched the back of his head. “Listen, I know wha’ I be sayin’ an’ feelin’ bout Eran’ji, but dat don’ mean I don’ wan’ kids. I not be readeh now, but when dey come if evah, I’ll be happeh. Ta have a famleh wit’ ya would be a dream, Tay.” At this point, he reached out and grasped her hands. “But I warn ya, I gonna be one ‘elluvah overprotective fatha’ an’ mate aftah wha’ happened ta mah sista. If ya tink ya can handle dat, den we be fine.” He winked at her as he finished.
Taylin couldn’t help the large smile that bloomed across her face or the slight dusting of pink that sprinkled her cheeks. Thinking of Sen and herself as parents filled her with joy. She had never imagined wanting children because of her line of work. But after seeing the love Kreeva held for her child and hearing the stories about him from both Sen and Kreeva, had stirred something within her. Maybe it was realizing she had found a man that she loved and wanted to spend her life with that made her dream of the more domestic things like starting a family. Or maybe she had always wanted children, but her lifestyle had removed those ideas and dreams from her. Whatever the case may be, Taylin couldn’t help but be filled with happiness at Sen’s words.
“Thank you, Sen. Though neither of us are ready now, part of me can’t wait for the day we have our first child. But I do hope that day is still far off in our future. There are too many things that I want to do and see, as well as too many things to worry about without adding a child to the mix. And I think I’ll be able to handle you being overprotective just fine, seeing how you’ve barely let me out of your sight. Course that was even before we mated,” Taylin finished with a smirk and a slight roll of her eyes.
Sen couldn’t help but chuckle, she was right. He had kept a close eye on her from day one. ‘Probably too close,’ he thought. His unwillingness to leave her side, even when she wasn’t aware, was what had sparked his interest in her, and what had eventually led him to grow feelings for his elf. ‘Maybe if I had stayed away from her, they wouldn’t be mated,’ but looking at the beautiful elf before him had Sen chasing that thought away. He was happier than he had been in an exceedingly long time. No, he wouldn’t change anything, even if he could. Taylin was his and she always would be. Sen smiled and gripped Taylin’s hands tighter. ‘The Loa, how he loved this woman,’ he thought.
“As fo’ ya otha’ concerns. We be dealin’ wit’ dem togedda. It won’ be easeh, but I know we’ll find a way. Even Kree had ‘er share o’ problems, an’ she an’ Aaron lived way out ‘ere. Wit’ da war in Outlands an’ in Northrend, dere be all kinds a neutral places we could live. So don worreh mate, we’ll make it work. ‘Ave faith in ya mate an’ in us,” he smiled. Taylin brought her hand to her mouth and worried at her thumb nail. Finally she nodded at Sen. They would find a way. Like Sen said, it wouldn’t be easy, but she did have faith in Sen and herself. The mage city of Dalaran above Crystal Song Forest flitted across her mind. Taylin had only visited it a handful of times in her brief stay in Northrend, but she had fallen in love with the city. It was completely neutral and Horde and Alliance regularly comingled there. The Underbelly would even cater to someone of her talents. Yes, Dalaran was definitely a possibility.
With the talking finally over, Sen’krii’s mind was drifting towards picking up what he had started in the tub. A smirk slowly slid across his features and with the grace of a predatory cat, he had pinned Taylin on her back to the bed. His hands locked firmly over her wrists, holding them down to either side of her head. Grinning down at the startled elf, he ran his long tongue across his lips. “Now, bout completetin’ dis mate mark,” he growled out low in one of her long delicate ears, pressing his hips hard against hers. Taylin released a small squeak as she looked up at him with startled eyes that were quickly becoming sultrier as she lowered her lids.
Taylin may have appeared to have been caught off guard, but her years upon years of rogue training had been safely restored to her memory banks. She had seen the grin slide across his face and even the tensing and coiling of his muscles. Taylin had a pretty good idea of what his intentions were before Sen had even launched himself at her. Muscle memory took over as she coiled her own muscles, and she thanked her training for without it she would have no hope in completing what she had in mind. Sexily, she lifted a leg and ran it along Sen’s outer thigh and over his hip, staring up at him demurely. Sen loosened his grip only slightly as her distraction caused the troll to become too overconfident at her submission. With the grace of her race and the agility from her rogue training, Taylin had freed her wrists, flipped the troll over onto his back, and rolled off him and the bed in one swift motion. She couldn’t help but giggle at Sen’krii’s dumbfounded expression. “You said it yourself, I’m one helluva rogue,” she winked at him. “As much as I would love to complete the mating, we really do owe Kreeva an explanation. I feel terrible for the way I ran out on her. She must be so worried. Though I did notice she didn’t say anything when we entered earlier. What have you told her?”
Sen’krii laid there completely stunned for a few more moments. He had never been countered that quickly or easily before. He eyed his mate out the corner of his eye. She was standing there with a fist resting on her cocked hip, waiting for his answer. Half of Sen’s mind was in complete awe of her abilities, while his more wicked side was currently coming up with all kinds of things he could do to his lithe little mate for that blow to his ego. Tamping down his instincts that had risen at her unconscious challenge of his dominance, Sen’krii realized she was right. They did owe Kreeva an explanation. With all the dignity he could muster, Sen fluidly rolled to the side of the bed and swung his legs over the edge. Sitting up, he ran his hand through his crest of hair. “I ‘aven’ told ‘er anyting yet. Jus’ dat ya were alrigh’ and dat we’d tell ‘er everyting when ya felt up ta it.”
With a nod, Taylin glanced down at herself. Sighing, “Please tell me you brought my pants back out of that tree?” “Mebbe,” Sen’krii said with a wicked grin. “Dammit Sen,” Taylin humphed out as she ran a hand through her damp hair. Seeing his distraught mate, Sen took pity on her. “Course I did Tay. Dey be in da bottom drawer, along wit’ a few odda clothes Kreeva finished makin’ fo’ ya.” Casting a quick glare at her mate, Taylin started rummaging through the bottom drawer. Taylin found her pants along with the other clothes Sen had mentioned. There were a few new linen shirts, a simple linen dress, and a few new undergarments. But something at the bottom caught her eye. Moving the other garments to the side, she found a beautifully crafted black leather set consisting of a chest piece, pants, bracers, and gloves. The leather was soft and supple and had been dyed a beautifully rich black. It would be perfect for anything involving her rogue lifestyle. Glancing over her shoulder at the troll, she stared at him questioningly. Sen simply shrugged when he realized she had found his gift. He had been working on the armor set in secret for a couple of weeks now. It was made from the finest leather he had gotten off hunting the dreadsabers of Sholazar Basin in Northrend. Soft, yet thick and sturdy, he knew it would protect her well, but also allow her easy movement. It was simply meant to be armor for her to hunt in, and he had dyed it black to not only help her disappear while on the hunt, but he also thought the color would contrast beautifully with her pale skin and emerald hair. Though, her turning out to be a rogue only made it all the more fitting. Originally, he had intended to gift it to her in a few days, since it would mark her fifth month with them, but now seemed more appropriate. Now it was more like a wedding gift to her.
Breath hitching in her throat at the beautifully made gift, Taylin smiled at Sen’krii. ‘He really is full of surprises,’ she thought before turning back to the dresser. Removing her pants and a clean pair of underwear, Taylin closed the drawer. With her back to Sen’krii, she pulled on the underwear then slid into her leather pants. Quickly she tucked Sen’s shirt into the top and smoothed down her front. Once everything was straightened out, she turned back towards the troll, who was hungrily looking her up and down. Rolling her eyes, she sauntered over to Sen and knelt before him. Placing her hands on his, she looked into his crimson eyes. “Thank you, Sen. I’ll never be able to say that enough. You’ve saved my life more than once, provided a home, taken care of me, and though you may have been cold in the beginning, you’ve shown me love. I’ll never be able to thank you enough for all that you’ve done for me. You truly make me happy, and I’m honored you chose me to be your mate.”
Her words were completely heartfelt, and Sen could only stare at the blushing elf before him as a soft blush started to stain his own cheeks. Wrapping his hands tightly around hers, he brought them to his lips and placed a soft kiss to the top of each hand. “Ya don’ gotta tank meh fo’ notin’, Tay. Doe ya be welcome. I should be tankin’ ya. You’ve warmed dis ‘eart a mine. Givin’ meh somtin’ I nevah tought I be findin’. An’ now ya be stuck wit’ dis ol’ troll.” He chuckled but gave a warm smile. “Now, let’s go give mah sista da ansahs she be waitin’ on. Cause da fasta we be getting’ dat talk ovah, da fasta I be getting’ ya inta our bed an’ finishin’ da matin’.” His smile transitioned into a wicked grin that Taylin couldn’t help but find absolutely sexy.
Slowly she stood, pulling Sen up to his feet by his hands, and gave him a quick peck to the cheek. He was right. They owed his sister an explanation and she couldn’t wait to have her mark on him. So, hand in hand, they headed out to the common area of the hut to answer all of Kreeva’s questions.
