Sphinx's Bath

Sphinx entered the Temple of Imhotep tired and covered with sand and dust. Every muscle in his body ached from his recent battle with Horus and the other minions of Set. Even though the young demi-god had won, it had cost him much of his energy. He moved slowly, his breath ragged with every step, his body threatening to collapse at any moment from his exhaustion.
Mejka, a friend and servant, met him in the huge audience chamber of the temple. As soon as she saw him, the blond girl ran to him, catching him in time to prevent him from falling.
"Sphinx!" she cried. "Are you all right?"
"Tired..." he answered weakly. "Where...is...everyone...?"
"Master Imhotep and the other apprentices were called away on urgent business. Leka and I were left here at the temple, for when you came back."
"Okay..."
"Leka!" Mejka called. A black-haired Egyptian girl answered the call, pausing to stare in surprise at Sphinx's condition. "Help me get Sphinx to the baths."
"Baths?" the boy asked, puzzled. "I...need...sleep..."
"You'll get it," Mejka assured him. "But you also need a bath. A nice, warm bath. And maybe a muscle rub for those poor, tired, aching muscles."
"Okay..."
Together, the two girls managed to get Sphinx to the bathing area.

The temple's baths were large (almost the size of a swimming pool), but shallow enough to sit in safely. Smooth stones was set around the baths, and there were tables, chairs, and couches to relax in before and after bathing. Along one side were tables for giving massages.
Mejka and Leka guided Sphinx into this room, gently sitting him down on one of the chairs as they undressed him for his bath. Leka fetched a robe for him to wear afterwards, while his clothes were being cleaned. As soon as they got him nude, the two girls also stripped. (Well, you didn't expect them to get their clothes wet, did you?) They then eased him into the water, where they began washing him, holding him steady as they cleaned the sand and dust from him.
First, they made sure Sphinx was good and wet. Mejka then crushed some soap plant and worked it into a good, strong lather. Then, both Mejka and Leka worked the foamy soap all over Sphinx's body, cleaning everything, from his short-cropped black hair to his lion's feet, and even his tail. They took special care with his penis and testicles, working these parts over extra gently. Sphinx was too tired to notice that the girls played with his privates as they washed them. The warm water began to relax him.
He let out a weak protest as they brought him out of the water and dried him off. Carefully, the girls brought him to one of the massage tables and laid him down on his stomach. Mejka quickly whispered something to Leka, who nodded and left to do her task. Majka then heated some oil in a earthen bowl over a large candle, taking some into her hand when it was ready and began to apply a thin layer over his body, pausing a moment at his buttocks, but applying the oil to that, as well. Then, she began to methodically rub the oil into his skin.
Sphinx relaxed even more as the girl massaged his worn and aching muscles, rubbing her hands all over him. Soon, he was drifting off to sleep. Mejka sighed to herself. The poor boy was just too tired to stay awake, even for a bath and a rub down!
Leka finished her task just in time. Together, the girls lifted Sphinx off the table. He let out a half-asleep whine of protest as they moved him yet one more time.
"Awww...girls..." he moaned. "I want to sleep..."
"You will," Mejka whispered in his ear. "We're just moving you to a more comfortable bed. That's all."
"Okay..."
In a corner, out of the way, was a large pile of pillows and blankets. That was what Leka had been doing --as well as washing Sphinx's clothes-- while Mejka was giving Sphinx his massage. Gently, the girls lowered him into the pillows and covered him with the blankets. He fell asleep at once. Mejka snuggled in close on his right side, while Leka snuggled in on his left. For a long time, they just watched him sleep, his breathing coming in a much calmer, gentle rhythm than it had before. As they watched and admired their young lion warrior, they heard a strange sound from him that they could not place at first. Then, they grinned at each other as they realized what was happening.
Purring! Sphinx was PURRING!
Like a cat --or kitten. It was just a little louder, a little deeper, coming from the demi-god than it would be from a house cat.
Still smiling, the girls drifted off to sleep right beside Sphinx.

The next morning, Sphinx awoke to a surprise. He was lying naked in a pile of pillows in the temple baths, and on either side of him was a servant girl. Mejka and Leka, no less! As he stared at them in shock, the girls awoke, then stretched and yawned. When they saw that Sphinx was awake, they smiled at him.
"Did you rest well, Sphinx?" Mejka asked.
"Yes, thank you," he replied. The youth blushed a deep red. "Uhh...why are we nude?"
"Leka and I gave you a bath," Mejka answered. "You don't remember?"
"No," he answered. "But then, I was pretty much out of it at the time."
"True," the blond girl answered. "After your bath, I gave you a nice oil body rub, while Leka created this little bed. We then brought you over to it, and tucked you in. Then, we decided to join you. And we found out something about you we didn't know..."
"Like what?" Sphinx asked warily.
"You purr when you're asleep!" Leka giggled.
"'Purr'?"
"Like a cat!" Mejka agreed, also giggling.
"Isn't that what he is?" Leka asked teasingly.
"That's true," Mejka agreed. "A lion is a cat...so of course he purrs like one!"
"Maybe we should get dressed and get some breakfast before they miss us," Sphinx suggested, blushing deeper. "I'm sure they're back by now..."
With a lot more blushing --mostly by Sphinx-- the three of them managed to get their clothes on. Then they made their way to the main area of the temple, where they would get their morning meal with the other apprentices and temple servants.
"Good of you three to join us..." a nearby voice said. Sphinx, Mejka and Leka turned around to see who it was that spoke.
"Oh!" Mejka cried. "Master Imhotep! Good morning! I trust you and the others had a pleasant journey..."
"Yes...quite pleasant. We came in fairly late last night, and was surprised to find that none of you three were in sight. We trusted that Sphinx would take care of you, so we weren't too worried. But when you were still gone this morning, I decided to start a search party for you after breakfast. However, since you've been found, that won't be necessary. Where were you, by-the-way?"
"Oh...just giving the cat a bath..." Mejka answered, playfully winking at Sphinx. The boy blushed again.
"I see..." Imhotep nodded. "Well, you better be off and get something to eat before the others eat it all. Sphinx, I expect you to attend to your studies today..."
"Yes, Master Imhotep," Sphinx replied.
"And Mejka and Leka must attend to their duties, as well."
"Yes, Master Imhotep," the girls replied.
"Good. Now; off with you." As he watched the three enter the dining hall, the sorcerer-priest thought to himself, Ah, to be young again...

Author's note: There is a big cat that purrs like a housecat. It's the mountain lion, I think. Anyway, I thought the idea of Sphinx purring like a cat was cute, so I put it in. ^_~
