Encounter 1: Ayane

Ryu Hayabusa awoke with a start. He lurched upright in the bed, sweat running down his brow. It took only a moment for him to regain his bearings and ascertain where he was: Lord Murai’s private guest room, replete with the finest linens and lit by softly burning torches and a plethora of candles. But why was he here? He looked down and saw that he was dressed in a white silk robe, one reserved for recovering war heroes. Ryu swung his legs over the bedside and stood. A dull ache formed across his back and he remembered.
There was fire. A girl screaming. A samurai. A flash of steel darker than night.
And then pain.
Ryu’s heart filled with rage. His right hand clenched into a fist and he drove it through the small table next to the bed, splintering it.

There was a small gasp from the bedroom’s door. Ryu turned and saw a young girl standing hesitantly at the room’s doorway with a tray of fruit and tea.

Ryu found his voice and called softly to the girl.

“Ayane,”

Murai’s star pupil, Ayane was already a formidable ninja, a true master of Tenshin Mugen style ninjistu, and would officially be joining their ranks within the next two years when she finally came of proper age. She had her lilac hair cut short of the shoulders and wore the customary headband of the Murai clan. Ayane’s slender figure was draped with a black silken kimono that was modest, but left little doubt that Ayane had grown up much in the five years Ryu had known her. Ryu had assisted in Ayane’s combat and acrobatic training, and they had become very close over the years. It was therefore no surprise that she read him so well.

“You’ll be leaving us, won’t you?” Ayane’s voice broke slightly on the last syllables. She moved past Ryu, stepped deftly over the splintered remnants of the table and set the tray down on the dresser, putting her back to Ryu.

“Yes,” Ryu responded firmly but not unkindly. “I must.”

“Murai’s network of ninja has just arrived. They are making their report now.” Ayane had yet to turn to face Ryu. He sensed a great deal of nervous tension from her, but was not sure why. “Whoever they tell you did this… you’ll be going after them.” She still had not turned to him.

“Of course.” Ryu was having trouble seeing where Ayane was going with this.

“Whoever did this; they almost killed you. You, Ryu Hayabusa, the greatest of the Dragon Lineage.” Ayane’s voice started to quake with fear.

“Ayane…” Ryu wasn’t sure what to say, but thought he should try.

“Ryu, I’m not trying to stop you.” Ayane shook her head, sniffed, and then took a long, calming breath. “But…I do have something to ask of you.”

“Anything, Ayane.” Ryu started preparing a promise of assured victory and a safe return that would sound appropriately heroic.

“Be with me.” Ayane finally turned to him and in the same fluid motion her kimono melted off her and ran down her body to form a silken puddle at her feet. Ryu’s heart lept to his throat as he gazed down at Ayane’s lithe form; her skin catching the candlelight with an angelic glow. Ayane’s body was as well toned as Ryu’s. It should be, after the rigorous drilling he had put her through. Thousands of crunches had left her with an exquisitely defined stomach. By the ancestors, he could count her abdominal muscles from where he stood in this subdued lighting. The miles upon miles of running and jumping had left not an ounce of extraneous fat on her legs or her butt. Her breasts were by no means the largest that Ryu had ever seen, but they were quite generous for one of Ayane’s age. They stood out so firm, the epitome of youthful feminine beauty.

Ryu finally caught himself and turned his head away, cursing under his breath at the stirring beneath his robe.

“Ayane, no, I cannot.” His body silently continued to argue this point, and Ryu knew it wouldn’t be long before it was blatantly obvious.

“Why can’t you?” Ayane stepped closer to Ryu, and reached for his robe’s belt. “Who else would I rather have as my first?” She reached up with her other hand, turned his head toward her and forced him to look her in the eyes. “Who else would you rather I have as my first?” Ayane pulled on the robe’s belt and it slipped off Ryu’s shoulders.

Ryu’s arms came up, and he swept Ayane off her feet and set her down on the bed. He lay over her, supporting himself on his arms and kissed her passionately on her lips. Ayane moaned softly and slipped her tongue into the kiss, and Ryu responded in kind. Their tongues dueled silently, two warriors testing each other, move and countermove.

Ayane broke off the kiss and gulped down air. “We don’t have much time.” Ayane rolled Ryu onto his back and then straddled him, running her petite hands down his muscular chest. Ryu’s cock stood at complete attention in front of Ayane’s entrance, throbbing expectantly, tapping her lavender patch of hair with the pulse of his heart. Ayane suddenly drew back and bent her head down toward his member, opening her mouth wide to take it in.

Ayane’s eyes opened, a look of utter mischief gleamed in her ginger eyes. Ryu had seen that look before, countless times when Ayane concocted some clever new scheme to test his patience. Never before had that look stirred such a sense of anticipation in him as it did now. Whatever would happen, he was certain he would not soon forget it.

“Well, Master Ryu. Let us see if the apprentice can challenge the master!” Ayane’s voice was high now, full of exuberance and dripping with lust. Ryu opened his mouth to retort but then Ayane began to move her hips, and after that, all rational thought became impossible for Ryu.

They became a tangle of arms and legs, writhing in ecstasy amid the torchlight. And as with everything that burns bright, it would have to burn out.

“Oh, Lord of the Ancestors! YES! Harder, Ryu! HARDER!” Ayane’s voice was now more of a squeak. Ryu’s body wanted nothing more than to pin her to the bed and pump until he was spent, but this was Ayane’s first time, not his. It was her time, and she deserved more than that. “Ryu,” Ayane smiled and covered his hand with hers. “You should know…I understand that you’ll be leaving, and that you may never return, victory or death.” Ayane’s eyes filled with tears, but she did not shed them. “I want you to know that I don’t expect this…what we’ve done….to be binding.” Ayane took Ryu’s hand and kissed it. “Do what you have to do to avenge the village, and reclaim the Dark Dragon Blade.”

Ayane rolled off of Ryu. She bent to gather her kimono and slipped it over her shoulders, then tied the linen belt. She walked toward the door, stopped and turned to face him again.

“But if you should ever return…I believe you would find the welcome to be most pleasant.” Ayane gave him her best naughty grin, turned and left.

Ryu lay on his back for several minutes. His vengeance must be sated, his enemies made to pay, the death of his village repaid in full. But if all this could be done and he were still alive to come back and visit…

That would be nice.

Writer Commentary:
Ayane's presence in Ninja Gaiden was my prime inspiration for the Koibito series. My first exposure to the Dead or Alive franchise was DOA3, which was one of the three games I purchased when I bought my Xbox way back in 2001. Of all the character endings, Ayane's was the most powerful to me, quickly making her my favorite DOA character. When I discovered that she was a supporting character in Ninja Gaiden, my enthusiasm for the character just skyrocketed. Ninja Gaiden also made me appreciate the classic hero archetype of Ryu Hayabusa, whose quiet strength and unmatched skill fueled my imagination with all sorts of possible adventures. Then I discovered AFF.NET, and was amazed at some of the stories I found there. Suddenly the lurid thought in the back of my mind was a potential story, and I started thinking the process through.
Firstly, I noticed that erotic fan fiction can devolve into little more than a common pornography scene in a hurry. It was important to define a specific theme or motif for each story, and then an overarching theme tying them all together. I have no illusions of the stories being literature. These stories are designed to be stimulating, but I wanted to supply as much context and class as I could to make the reading as pleasant as possible. For Ryu's encounter with Ayane, the setting is placed directly after Ryu's defeat at the hands of the Greater Fiend Doku, and ends just before the next cutscene showing Murai briefing Ryu who is suiting up his new Ninja garb. I took some liberties with the DOA mythology, making Ryu one of Ayane's instructors, but it seemed to work in my head. I was also very careful not to nail down an age for Ayane, since she is listed as 16 in the games I had played. There is some allusion to Ayane reaching "proper age" in two years but, since that was in reference to becoming a ninja, her age is still up to the reader's imagination.
Getting two characters to the point of love making is tricky, no doubt about it. Fortunately there has never been an overabundance of dialogue in Team Ninja projects, so by trying to emulate their pacing, it was easier to get to the chase. One of the patterns used extensively in sex scenes is fellatio right off the bat followed by sex. It has always struck me as somewhat demeaning, and Ryu's character seemed to agree. The sex itself needed to follow a theme. Here we have two virile ninja, both trained to the point of physical perfection. Ayane's youthful exuberance was a major feature, as was the idea of Ryu and Ayane performing what amounts to an uber Kama Sutra. Description of the sex was kept purposefully vague; I just wanted the reader's imagination to run wild with the erotic possibilities of these two ninja going at it, all the while that little mental taboo of Ryu having sex with the girl that was emotionally his "little sister". The girls of DOA are an unrealistic ideal of feminine beauty and sexuality, so simultaneous orgasm seemed a natural and quite satisfying element.
This is also the introduction of Ryu's tantric ability to internalize his orgasm, which was at first intended only as a way to maintain Ryu's cautious and courteous character while letting him sleep with several women. If he were ejaculating into each of the girls, I was afraid he would come across as an impulsive and reckless macho pig, unconcerned with impregnating women he hardly knew. I also have a strong aversion to depictions of men ejaculating on women, so this seemed a perfect compromise. Another quick cheat was Ayane's short speech at the end, more or less giving Ryu permission to sleep with other women, while not in as many words. This was important as well, since Ryu and Ayane really seemed to connect at a relational level beyond the sex. Her innuendo about Ryu's possible return would pay off quite nicely down the road as well.
