+-------------------------+
It was hot.
It was blisteringly
hot.
It was blisteringly
hot, and humid. The sea kind, the kind that clung to the skin
and stayed.
Daelen found it hard to
believe that it was so hot. At least, that it could be so hot and
ground still didn’t burst into flame. The summer sun had been
baking Westfall for the last two months, and the land seemed that it
had been seared from the heat. Trees turned gold even though it was
only midsummer, the vast fields of wheat crackled in the wind as they
neared the harvest. Tanner’d told him that Westfall was the
nation’s breadbasket because the humans here squeezed out three
growing seasons instead of the one or two most farmers got elsewhere.
He hadn’t really believed it until he saw how fast the wheat
grew here, even after the spring rains stopped falling. Westfall was
among one of the most fertile lands he’d seen outside of
Kalimdor.
That didn’t
change the fact that it was so hot. Even here on the forested
bluffs, high above most all Westfall, the heat still clung. Daelen
had at least hoped that the higher they climbed the more wind there’d
be, but though he heard it rustle over the treetops it never
penetrated the forest below. If he closed his eyes though, it at
least sounded a little more like the forest he’d grown
up in. It didn’t have the weight of time that the Bawynor had-
none of these trees could be over a hundred years old- nor was there
the muffled sound that truly old forests get. Although…
Even with the heat, even with the constant buzz and chirp of insects and
birds, even though it was nothing like the forests of his homeland,
Daelen found himself actually… liking it more for all the
differences. It was refreshing, it felt as though the whole world
around him was intent on change, and change was something Daelen had
been desperately looking for.
He just hadn’t
expected that change would include weeks of sweltering heat. The
trail, if one could call it that, Tanner was guiding him on zigzagged
up the slopes of the foothills, more often than not blocked by fallen
logs and rocks. Daelen had grown up in the thick, towering forests of
Ashenvale and Bawynor; this wooded park was hardly anything to rival
those, but he still found himself lagging behind. He didn’t
understand how the human had gotten so far ahead of him, with hardly
a sweat to show for it. He also didn’t understand how Tanner
could be so comfortable in those big leather boots either. They were
so stifling. That was another change from home. Humans almost always
kept themselves clothed from head to foot, and in such heavy weaves
and thick fabric too. Daelen was only wearing his thinnest summer
pants while Tanner had his full vest and shirt on. Back home on a day
like this one would be hard-pressed to find a stitch more than what
covered the basic essentials. Well, one would also find everyone
sensibly sleeping away the hot daylight hours and rising at night,
but the kaeldorei had long ago adjusted to the humans’ curious
attachment to a diurnal schedule. He suspected that it was because
they didn’t see very well in the dark.
“You alright
there, buddy? You look like you’re about to melt.” Daelen
looked up to see that Tanner had stopped at the top of the hill ahead
and was looking back at him.
“It’s hot,”
Daelen said, a little embarrassed at Tanner’s gentle teasing.
He quickened his pace for last few steps and quickly crested the hill
beside the human.
“Heh, yeah,”
Tanner chuckled, a commiserating grin on his face. His brow glistened
too, though that seemed to be the only effect the heat had on the
man. “It’s a bit warm today. Far cry from the mountains
huh?” Tanner asked, elbowing Daelen as they continued along the
trail.
Daelen shook his head.
“I’ve never known anyplace so hot. How can you stand it?”
He asked as he reached up to wipe some sweat off his brow.
Tanner shrugged, a
little amused at the night elf’s discomfort. “Dunno. Used
to it I guess.” He glanced around, considering, then gestured
at one particularly big goldwood tree. “We’re almost
there. We got some time still. Could take a bit of a break here, dig
out the cider?”
The kaeldorei mulled it
over for a second, gazing out over the horizon. Right here there was
a pretty break in the tree-line that allowed a wonderful view of the
valley. He could even see Farmer Tam’s fields stretching out
across the plains below. His tongue swelled in his mouth at the
thought of cider, and that settled it. He grinned at his friend. “A
break would be great.” Daelen dropped his pack and his gear and
flopped back against the big goldwood, happy to at least have some
semblance of shade and cool air.
Though the goldwood had
long, thick roots perfect for sitting, Tanner ignored them, favoring
the ground next to Daelen. The human tossed his bag aside too and
leaned back heavily on the big kaeldorei, using the elf as a cushion.
Daelen grunted, but didn’t protest. Tanner pulled out the cool
canteen that held the spiced cider and took a long, slow swig. He
made it look so good that Daelen’s mouth watered just watching.
The human’s eyes slid over to catch the night elf staring.
“Cider?”
Tanner offered, a small, teasing grin on his face. Daelen reached
across with his left hand, his right trapped by the man’s
sprawl over him. The taste of apples mixed with something exotic
rolled over his tongue, a welcome respite from the warm, old water
he’d been drinking the entire hike up. The kaeldorei let his
hand fall to his lap as he sat back and simply take in the presence
of forest life again, the sound of birds chirping, the wind rustling
through leaves, the thrum of a distant woodpecker. Tanner arched his
back against Daelen as he stretched.
Daelen would have been
startled at the human’s proximity months ago, but ever since
he’d landed in Port Margrave he gradually became more and more
accustomed to how open and affectionate humans could be. Back home in
Starfall, no kaeldorei would ever seek the touch of someone he wasn’t
intimately familiar with, and even then it wasn’t nearly the
same as the way Daelen saw humans brush and touch and pile on top of
each other. Okay, so maybe it wasn’t quite like that, but the
last time Daelen had gotten so much as a hug from someone before Westfall was
when his brother Numendor joined his fellow druids in the Emerald
Dream. He wasn’t quite sure how long ago that had been- time
wasn’t that important to the elves in Starfall- but he knew it
had to have been… ages.
Of course, the minute
he’d boarded a human ship in Auberdine he was nearly
overwhelmed by the camaraderie of the human sailors. He’d known
about the human hand-shake greeting beforehand, he hadn’t left home
completely unprepared, and he’d heard from travelers
that these new human-creatures were boisterous and loud and lacked
almost all reserve, which was one of the reasons he’d chosen a
human port as a destination. No kaeldorei, at least, no kaeldorei
from Starfall, would have willingly left the safety of the Bawynor
Woods after hearing the wild tales coming in from the rest of the
forest. Even if, in the odd chance that there was someone secretly
harboring a passion for exploring, Daelen knew they only had to take
one look at changes in Auberdine before they’d hightail it back
to the safety of the mountain village. Daelen had been there once, as
a boy. He vaguely remembered a sleepy little port whose main purpose
was fishing and ferrying goods to the island of Teldrassil. Now it
was a bustling harbor, an influx of trade and exotic goods opening up
a huge market that was luring ships from all over. Daelen had seen
ships from kaeldorei villages like Rut’theran, Greenleaf, and
Taerar’s Fall, but among those were the myriad ships from
places far beyond the shores of Kalimdor.
And with those ships,
came people. Daelen had wandered down the streets of Auberdine,
simply gawking at all the humans and dwarves. The dwarves weren’t
that surprising; they weren’t that different from the Grimucks
in kaeldorei fairytales. Grimucks were basically short, stubby, rowdy
little hairballs, with a penchant for drinking and angry wives. The
only difference was that dwarves looked more like humans than
kaeldorei.
What had really
surprised Daelen, though, were the humans. They were absolutely
fascinating. No traveler had ever mentioned their lack of ears, or
how short they were. It wasn’t the ridiculous lack of height,
like the dwarves, where he had to drop to one knee to talk to them,
or the understandable shortness of a growing child. Humans were just
short enough that it startled every time he had to look down to talk
to one. And no one, nothing, had even hinted at their eyes.
Their big, beautiful, bright-ringed eyes that could convey everything
and nothing at all. Kaeldorei all had the same color eyes. There were
a few exceptions here and there, some had a brighter glow and some
were dim, but for the most part it was a standard luminous yellow
glow. Humans though, humans had dark spots and colors and rings that
were simply enthralling, and when humans spoke their eyes shifted all
over the place. As a whole they lacked the stern countenance that
most adult kaeldorei bore. It had been heady and nearly overwhelming
when Daelen first arrived in Auberdine.
He’d gotten used
to it all though. He practiced the human’s Common, watched and
learned enough about life outside his village, lost bits of his
naivety. He made friends with the humans living in Auberdine, became
accustomed to how short they were, how big their eyes were, even
learned that humans do have ears, they were just tiny, little,
adorable seashell curls. Then his adventuring side kicked in, urging
him to go farther, see more. Daelen booked passage on the next ship
out, which just so happened to be heading straight for a little-known
port in Westfall.
He thought he’d
adjusted to life among humans. He’d stopped staring at every
new pair of eyes he saw. He’d learned to make small talk and
banter back and forth in a conversation. Hell, Daelen even stopped
shying away from physical contact. Sort of. If he knew it was coming.
At least, he stopped thinking of it as an open proposition every time
someone brushed up against him. Daelen was certain that there wasn’t
anything that would floor him like his first day in Auberdine. Of
course, then came the day he met Tanner Sack.
When he landed in Port
Margrave, Daelen had found that there was no shortage of work.
Well-paying work too, especially for someone as good with a sword as
he was. The town, with its reliance on coastal trade, was frantic for
control over the burgeoning murloc population that infested the
entire harbor. There were days when Daelen would be out on the
beaches from sun up till sun down, methodically slaughtering
thousands of the irritating creatures. The kaeldorei had been
appalled at first, but after the first few days of listening to the
beasts’ angry gurgles that seemed to erupt whenever there was
danger, or food, or dangerous food, or sometimes just for the sheer
hell of gurgling, he lost any sympathy for the stupid things and
threw himself into his job with vigor. Half the time he didn’t
even kill them himself. Charging murlocs would flail about wildly as
they ran, more often than not spearing themselves and any other
murlocs around them on their own crude spears.
Then, one day,
surrounded by a week’s worth of murloc carcasses and seagulls
that had gorged themselves too fat to fly, he felt eyes on the back of
his neck. He rose from his hiding place in the center of a murloc
village, glancing around to make sure that none of the murlocs were
left standing and fastidiously stepped over the fallen as he made his
way to the edge of the huts. He hadn’t actually harmed any of
the things today. All he’d done was throw a rock at the biggest
one he could find and then duck down. The fishmen proceeded to
slaughter each other in a bloody free-for-all that left the village
empty. Every so often their bloodlust would quiet and he’d toss
another handy rock and they’d frenzy again. Honestly, he didn’t
understand the Goddess’s design for such dumb creatures, but
then, that’s probably why he wasn’t a priest.
Reaching the edge of
the village that only came up to waist height, Daelen shielded his
eyes against the sun’s glare and searched about for the source
of discomfort. His eyes shifted to the top of the sea bluffs that
lined the Westfall coast, where he could make out a young human
sitting on one of the many fences that the human farmers were so fond
of. The human waved at him. Daelen waved back, and, since it was the
polite thing to do and the kaeldorei wanted a break anyways, started
working his way up the bluff to greet the human. It was a steep bluff
with a sharp incline and lots of rock, so Daelen was rather surprised
to see a young man land with a light “oof!” next to him
at the bottom.
The kaeldorei stared as
the human dusted himself off. “Are you okay?” he asked,
wondering if maybe he had gotten jsut a little too much sun.
“Naw, I’m
fine,” the human said with a grin, but everything else about
the man was lost the moment Daelen met his eyes. He had seen many
beautiful human eyes, but none had prepared him for these. These eyes
were two luminous pools of electric green, with whorls of yellow and
softer lines of black around two dark pupils. The kaeldorei hadn’t
even realized he had stopped breathing until the human held out his
hand in the human hand-shake greeting.
“Name’s
Tanner, Tanner Sack,” the man said, his green eyes twinkling
and a slight grin in place.
Daelen, distracted and
confused by a number of unanswered questions, had a moment where his
mouth ran without his mind thinking. “As in bag?” The
moment the words passed his lips he realized how stupid the question
sounded and prayed the human wouldn’t notice how awkward he
was.
The Goddess must have
smiled then, though, because Tanner’s grin grew a little wider.
“Hah,” the man said, “Yeah, as in bag.” He
raised his hand a little pointedly. Daelen flushed a deep, dark red
and introduced himself, trying not to stare at Tanner’s
brilliant green eyes, which was rather hard given that he stood a
good foot or two above the guy. The kaeldorei rubbed the back of his
head.
“What brings you
out to the coast, Tanner?”
“You’ve
heard of the Defias?” Daelen nodded. They were a fiercely
growing gang of riff-raff, the discontent, and bandits seemingly
hell-bent on anarchy. There were a few thugs down in the tavern that
tried to cause trouble every so often, but whispers of the
crime-ridden streets of Moonbrook and the rest of Westfall made the
town watch jumpy enough to keep a firm eye on the hoodlums. “Well
Gryan Stoutmantle has been organizing a local resistance over at
Sentinel Hill, try and drive them out of Westfall for good.”
Tanner looked back up at the cliff, towards the direction of the
Port. “Margrave’s been lucky, this whole area has. The
Defias haven’t been able to get a foothold in these parts.
Can’t say the same for the rest of Westfall. Most of the farms
have been abandoned around Moonbrook. The lord there’s been
missing for months and the Council hasn’t been able to do
anything about finding him or getting someone out there to clean
things up. If it weren’t for Stoutmantle, the Defias would have
a stranglehold on the entire province.” The human glanced down
at his feet. He crossed his arms, sighing as he trapped the kaeldorei
with his radiant gaze once again. “I’m not going to
sugarcoat anything. I heard that an excellent swordsman landed in
Margrave. If we’re to have any hope of beating the Defias,
we’ll have to take the battle to them, and to do that, the
resistance needs a guy as good as you leading them. Most of them are
just farmers who want to stay in their homes.” Tanner’s
tongue flicked over his lips. “I know that this isn’t
your fight,” the man added, “but…” Tanner
hesitated, then shrugged. “We’re desperate.”
Daelen stared down into
Tanner’s eyes. The kaeldorei would have to be a monster to say
no to Tanner’s plea. “Sure.” Daelen glanced around
the self-slaughtered murloc village. “It’s not like I saw
doing anything particularly important here,” he said, trying to
alleviate the seriousness of the human’s desperation. He was
rewarded with an easy grin and a warm laugh from the human, the sound
of which he would come to treasure in the following months. That
evening Daelen said farewell to the friends he’d made in
Margrave, who gave him tearful goodbyes and tried to hug him, a few
of which Daelen awkwardly managed to return. In the morning, he set
out with Tanner Sack towards Sentinel Hill. The human man proved to
be good company. He was genuinely inquisitive and Daelen would have
almost felt flustered by all the attention if it weren’t for
the fact that Tanner had such an easy-going, laid back aura about
him.
When they reached
Sentinel Hill, Stoutmantle asked Daelen to prove his skill with a few
mock-combat trials. After the kaeldorei managed to disarm four guards
trying to attack him at once, the marshal grunted his approval and
signed him up. The kaeldorei was rather pleased when Tanner spoke up
and asked that Daelen be kept with his unit. He was almost
enthusiastic about finally being able to do something worthwhile and
challenging, until Tanner showed him the rest of their party.
There were three others
in the empty barracks, and Daelen would later learn that those three
were the only ones to show up. The first was an elderly priestess,
her iron-gray hair wrapped up in a bun and she was working
contentedly on a bundle of knitting beside her feet. The second was
fresh-faced paladin, and while Daelen couldn’t be sure without
asking, he thought that the boy had to be younger than Tanner. The
third was dwarf, surprisingly, with bright-red pigtails and a
slavering boar sitting on her bed. She was currently picking her
nose. Whatever she was looking for, it must have been buried deep
because her whole face was screwed up in concentration. The
kaeldorei’s heart would have fallen to his feet if it weren’t
for Tanner’s gentle prod. He turned to see the human give him
that same, teasing grin and say, “They’re new. Just give
them time, you might be surprised.”
True to their
confounding nature, the humans actually did surprise him. The old
woman turned out to be surprisingly spry, and was quick-witted and
possessed a sharp, dry wit that more often than not reminded Daelen
of his mother at home. The paladin, grandly named Lexasious
Teraniosis, preferred a simple Lex, and for all his youth was eager
to learn anything and everything that could help him adhere to the
rules of his order. Daelen had to admire him sometimes. He often
speculated that it must be nice to know one’s place in the
world at such a young age. The dwarven girl, Huntngrl, didn’t
seem to have the best grasp of the human’s Common, but she had
a lot of heart and was a terrific shot whenever she wasn’t
distracted by something her overgrown pig had dug up.
Logically, they were a
mismatched and ill-fitted group, but together they still managed to
help the Sentinel Hill militia organize the local farmers and push
the Defias back and out of Westfall entirely. There had been a lot of
scuffles, not a few of which turned deadly. Daelen would never have
thought he’d actually kill a man one day, but that had changed
since Tanner Sack.
… A lot had
changed since Tanner Sack. Daelen would also have never thought that
he would actually befriend his mismatched unit and came to dread the
day that the farmers actually managed to quell the Defias for good.
He didn’t think that he’d miss the cutting remarks the
priestess would make about Huntngrl’s hygiene, or the
grammatically incorrect insults the dwarf would yell back. He never
thought he’d miss Lex’s badly burned meals of charred
wolf meat and spiced eggs, or miss the way Tanner would force a smile
and encourage the lad to keep at it.
That day couldn’t
be put off forever though. With the Defias routed in Moonbrook and
order restored, Daelen found his unit breaking up. Lex wanted to head
to the capitol and be inducted to his order in the “proper
fashion” as he called it, and the old woman wanted to go spend
time with her grandchildren. Huntngrl simply stared at the kaeldorei
with her finger in her nose before she wandered off, her faithful pig
in close pursuit. Daelen could only stand there and stare off into
the distance, suddenly cognizant of the brutal fact that he had
nothing to go back to, no one who missed him, and no purpose to his
life.
It was incredibly
disheartening. The kaeldorei was primed to work himself into a deep,
dark depression when Tanner gave him a playful punch in the shoulder
and exclaimed “Whattya standin’ around for, bright eyes?
We have to get going before it gets too dark!” The man
proceeded to toss the kaeldorei his bag and start down the dusty
road.
Daelen just stood
there, holding his gear, his mouth agape, staring after the human.
Tanner got about halfway through the first field before he stopped
and turned back to Daelen, tapping his foot and obviously waiting.
The kaeldorei shut his mouth, looked down at his pack, glanced back
at the human and opened his mouth again before he thought the better
of it. Slowly shouldering his pack, Daelen took one last look around
Sentinel Hill, put one foot in front of the other, and followed the
human through the fields. When he managed to catch up to the man,
Tanner gave him the teasing grin that made Daelen’s day and
started walking again. When the kaeldorei finally asked where they
were going, Tanner simply answered “Home.”
Home turned out to be
Mac and Martha Tam’s sprawling farm, a scant two miles from the
Jangolode Mine. While the kaeldorei was sure that the Tam’s
weren’t related to Tanner by blood, they still welcomed the
human and his friend with open arms. Daelen had only expected to stay
two, maybe three weeks, but the longer he stayed, the more attached
he found himself to Tanner. When the human asked Daelen to stay and
help the Tams with the coming harvest, the kaeldorei found that, yet
again, it was impossible to say no.
Daelen was pulled out
of his reverie when he felt a strange weight on his shoulder. He
glanced down and nearly leapt out of his skin when he realized it was
Tanner’s head. The human had fallen against him completely and
looked like he was almost asleep.
“Ta- Tanner?”
Daelen stuttered, not really sure what to do. He could already feel
his face heating up. It had to be pure red by now. Should he say
something? What if he offended the human? What if this was normal to
humans? Or what if Daelen called attention to it and Tanner…
Tanner…
“Hmm?”
Tanner yawned as he shifted a little, rubbing his cheek against
Daelen’s skin. The sensation sent an arrow straight to his
groin. He wasn’t hard in the least, but his body was on the
precipice. It felt like even a slight breeze could push him over that
last little bit. Daelen forced his hands to the ground. His heart was
racing but his brain seemed to moving so terribly slow.
“Uh…”
Daelen’s words caught in his throat. That gave him time to
actually process his thoughts. Tanner obviously didn’t care
that he was leaning on him. In fact, if Daelen didn’t say
anything, Tanner might just fall asleep, and honestly, Daelen loved
the feel of the human’s cheek on his breast. Daelen hesitated
for a moment. “Um, nevermind,” he said. It made him feel
a little dirty, like he was taking advantage of Tanner’s
friendship, but at the same time he was also touching Tanner!
Tanner made some sort
of sleepy hum. Daelen looked away, not really seeing anything. He was
too caught up in the press of the human’s body against his. The
day was still hot and Daelen was still baking, even more so with
Tanner’s added body-heat, but that just seemed to intensify
everything the other man touched. The press of Tanner’s leg
against his own, the weight of Tanner against his side, the feel of
Tanner’s bare arm on his stomach- it was enough to keep his
body in a constant state of near-arousal.
Daelen was never big
growing up. He’d never been small either, but next to Tanner he
felt positively huge. The kaeldorei was built thick, with smooth,
sculpted muscle from centuries of training and little else. He
compared himself to the lean human lying against his chest, wondering
how they could be so different. Where his shoulders were broad enough
to make him look like an inverted triangle, Tanner’s were
almost the same width as the man’s hips, giving the human a
lithe quality that belied the man’s strength. Daelen had
sparred with the human often enough to know the man took all aspects
of fighting very seriously. After he had made one comment about the
benefits of simple weight training, the kaeldorei had woken the next
morning to find Tanner up and ready to lift with him. The man’s
dedication showed too. Already his arms were far more defined than
when Daelen first met him three months ago, and the human’s
body had gotten even more toned.
The kaeldorei’s
eye roamed over the slumbering human of its own volition. He tried to
take in everything. The smooth, slightly upturned nose, the thick
brown lashes, even the scraggly little patch of hair on his chin that
Tanner was so proud of. Daelen listened to the long, slow snores,
watched Tanner’s heavy eyebrows twitch and wiggle. He wanted,
so badly, to just be able to brush his cheek against the mass of
unruly spikes on the human’s head. He gritted his teeth, about
to wrench his gaze away and quell such troublesome thoughts when he
saw it. More specifically, he saw the place where Tanner’s
shirt had ridden up over his stomach, exposing the long trail of
little brown hairs that Daelen knew just had to lead to… lead
to…
The kaeldorei really
did jerk his face away then, his cheeks heating again. Thinking about
that had made the blood surge to his crotch and he’d already
been so focused on trying to keep his dick from stiffening. He forced
himself to take light, easy breaths and shut his eyes, trying to find
something else to focus on. The moment his eyes slid shut though,
that tanned band of taut abs flashed to the front of his mind,
teasing him mercilessly. Daelen wanted to sob when he lost the battle
of will with his dick and he felt it start to swell. Goddess above,
he was laying next to a man he wanted to see everything of, touch
everything of, and yet he was forced to do nothing at all!
It really, really
wasn’t fair. Daelen knew that he should be satisfied with
simply lying there with Tanner pressed against him, it was something
he dreamed about nightly after all, but he couldn’t help but
want more. He was like the lost Huntress in that
story. The woman had journeyed for miles and millennia, wanting
nothing more than to just know the taste of Ordasian olive. After an
immortality of watching the huntress, Elune finally took pity on the
woman and gave her a single, little slice from an olive the Goddess
had grown herself. The moment the huntress felt the juice touch her
tongue she found herself desperate for more. Tanner was his olive.
The kaeldorei knew, knew he should be happy with even having a
friend at all, much less one like Tanner Sack. He knew that he should
be happy with every stolen glance of skin he’d seen, he should
be satisfied with the day that he’d walked in on Tanner naked.
He felt his blood pound at the memory of Tanner’s, well, bits
bobbing as the startled man spun in surprise. Daelen backed up and
fled, the moment he was sure he had a bit of privacy he’d
whipped himself out and started to pound the image into his memory.
But still, every moment
he spent with Tanner, every time he even thought about the man, this…
gnawing hunger in his gut continued to grow. There were days when
Daelen feared it was going to consume him. He’d already come
dangerously close to revealing his… perversion to the human. So many times, he’d only just managed to snap his mouth shut before he said
“man” instead of “woman.” Despite his fear of
being caught out, Daelen still found himself taking increasingly
greater risks in the glances he snuck and the questions he asked.
That band of skin
tantalized him. Oh, Elune, he could picture it flawlessly. The hint
of hipbone, tanned, taut flesh, that trail of coarse brown hair;
Daelen wanted to whimper. He could see his prominent erection
struggling to pull free of his pants, and he prayed that Tanner did
not wake up anytime soon. The kaeldorei took two steadying breaths,
struggling to stay strong. It didn’t last.
His weakness overcame
him, and his eyes slid back to Tanner’s stomach. The moment he
saw it again, though, he was suddenly filled with the overwhelming
urge to touch. A tremor ran through the fingertips of the hand
by Tanner’s waist. Just a brush. A simple brush. Daelen knew he
could get away with that much. He grazed his thumb ever-so-slightly
over the human’s flesh, his heart pounding in his ears and
poised to pull back at any moment.
The human continued to
snore, though. Upon seeing no immediate reaction, the kaeldorei
nerved himself and slowly laid a few fingers on Tanner’s hip,
softly sliding his fingertips along the lines of muscle. When the
human didn’t even stir, Daelen, emboldened, laid his entire
palm flat on the human’s waist, stroking his fingers over the
curly trail of brown hair. So entranced was he by the sheer joy of
simply being able to touch the man, he hardly thought anything of it
when the human’s fingers wrapped around his wrist. Then his
brain kicked in.
Overwhelming terror
locked his limbs and sank like a rock in his gut. Daelen’s eyes
flicked to Tanner’s face, to see the human’s big,
beautiful eyes staring at him, hooded with some strange emotion.
“You like that,
Dael?” Tanner breathed, heavy and low, as he tightened his
fingers around Daelen’s wrist.
The kaeldorei was
frozen in fear, panicking and desperate to think of something,
anything to say that could salvage the situation. “Tanner!”
he managed, “I-!” His brain was screaming at him to
apologize, his heart was telling him to flee, but his mouth wouldn’t
work and the human was lying on Daelen’s arm, clasping his
fingers over and around the incriminating hand on his stomach. Pumped
with adrenaline and terror, Daelen finally managed to stutter some
sort of apology. “I-I’m sorry, I-!” he apologized.
Or, at least, that’s what he was trying to say when the human
tightened his grip on the kaeldorei’s hand, arched back, and
slid it into his pants.
“I asked you if
you liked this Dael. I know I do.” Tanner’s smokey gaze
remained half-lidded and wanton, his fingers stroking, soothingly,
over the back of Daelen’s captive hand, the perfect picture of
raw carnality. The moment was the epitome of Daelen’s fantasy.
Unfortunately, the poor
night elf’s brain had been tumbling down the steep slope of
terror and it was a challenge to do a complete turn about and run the
opposite direction. One side of his mind was still buzzing
frantically to somehow save himself, while the other side couldn’t
think past that fact that his hand was on Tanner’s junk. Daelen
could only continue to stutter. “I- Tanner, I-!”
The human cut him off.
“You do like this,” Tanner pouted, thrusting his hips
into the kaeldorei’s palm. “Don’t you?”
“Yes!”
Daelen gasped, his mind wrapped around the hand in Tanner’s
pants. He could hardly think past the feeling of warm, loose skin and
little hairs against his fingertips- Tanner’s sac, he
thought distantly- couldn’t think past the fact that his thumb
and forefinger were grasping the human’s hardening erection,
couldn’t get past that fact that he was touching a guy,
another guy, down there. Daelen couldn’t
get his mind to think about anything other than that he had better
enjoy this and remember everything because he had never actually
thought that he would be able to do this, touch this,
that another man would want him, that this was bad, this was wrong,
there would be so much hell to pay later but touching Tanner there
felt so good and-
At that point Daelen’s
brain shut down because Tanner had pressed his mouth over Daelen’s
parted lips. The human took the opportunity to dip his tongue in ever
so softly, tasting Daelen with only the very tip of it. Daelen
mindlessly opened his mouth wider, trying to deepen Tanner’s
kiss. It was only after he felt Tanner place a hand against his cheek
that the night elf realized he had just lost his first kiss. That
thought was startling enough to make him jerk back from the human,
the kaeldorei pushing himself back into the goldwood tree as far as
he could go. Daelen lay there, panting heavily, hoping the few inches
between his face and Tanner’s was safety enough. He was all too
aware of the human’s arms on either side of his chest, trapping
him against the tree and leaving him no quick way to run. Daelen
glanced back up at Tanner’s face, vaguely fearful of what he
might see there.
The human was staring
at him intently, giving Daelen that same, half-lidded stare that
froze his breath. The kaeldorei gulped, unsure of what to think and
maybe even daring to hope when he saw no trace of malice or disgust
on Tanner’s face. Then the man leaned forward, slowly, holding
Daelen’s eyes in a steady gaze, and gently brushed a second
kiss over Daelen’s lips. That tiny spark of hope in the middle
of the kaeldorei’s heart flared, and he managed to finally find
his voice.
“Do- Do humans
think it’s alright for… for two guys to do this?”
the kaeldorei asked.
Tanner brushed his
fingertips over the delectable ridges of Daelen’s chest. “For
the most part.” The human shrugged. “Is it so wrong to
kaeldorei?”
Daelen hesitated a
moment, thinking about the stern visage of his father, of the other
village elders whenever they spoke of someone like him. Even Shandra
Feathermoon, the right hand of Tyrande, was frowned upon for her
preference of women. He recalled the cold, ostracizing, even hostile
welcomes they’d given the few “obvious” travelers
that had passed through the village. “Most would… not
approve,” he said weakly.
The human was silent.
He simply brought his free hand up to curl a few long locks of the
kaeldorei’s rich, purple hair around his fingers, making a show
of examining them and then glancing around the clearing. “You
see any night elves around here?”
He couldn’t help
but glance around warily. “No.”
“Than what’s
to stop us?” With that Tanner leaned up and closed his mouth
over Daelen’s lips. The human’s tongue slid effortlessly
into the kaeldorei’s mouth, plunging deep and rendering the
kaeldorei helpless before the onslaught of the man’s hands. It
felt like Tanner was trying to touch him everywhere- he felt the
human’s fingers brush over his arms, his cheeks, his ears.
Between trying his best to keep pace with Tanner’s fierce
kisses and the man’s wandering hands, Daelen was hardly aware
of the human pulling himself forward to straddle the kaeldorei’s
waist until he felt Tanner’s firm bottom press against his
erection.
Daelen pulled out of
the kiss, his eyes wide as he suddenly realized that Tanner was now a
lot more… intimate than he had been before. The human,
however, wasn’t about to let the shy kaeldorei shrink away.
Tanner sank the fingers of both hands deep into the kaeldorei’s
hair and tilted Daelen’s head back, pulling the kaeldorei’s
mouth into a savage, dominating kiss that left no question as to what
the human wanted. Lost in sensation, Daelen didn’t even notice
where one of Tanner’s hands had strayed until he felt it slip
past the drawstring of his pants.
His eyes snapped open
as he made a wild grab for Tanner’s hand. “What are you
doing!” he cried, his words muffled by Tanner’s lips.
The human rocked back,
his eyes sparkling with laughter and the corners of his mouth curled
in humor. “Well you got to touch mine didn’t you? It’s
only fair I get to touch yours.” The kaeldorei gulped, uneasy,
but reluctantly released his grip on Tanner’s hand. The man
brought his lips back to Daelen’s face as he slowly slid his
fingers through the purple patch of hair peeking out of the
kaeldorei’s pants. When Daelen gave no further protest, Tanner
hooked his hand around the waistband and slid back, freeing the
kaeldorei’s heavy erection. It didn’t spring free so much
as it rose, grandly, tall and proud. Daelen, nervous enough already,
felt his cheeks flush with heat at the human’s appreciative
whistle.
“Mm, Daelen,”
Tanner said with a throaty chuckle. “I like it.”
Embarrassed, the kaeldorei looked away, but immediately swiveled back
when he felt Tanner’s fingers brush down over his balls,
lifting them free of his pants as well. The human’s touch down
there forced his dick to harden so quickly that it almost hurt.
“T-Tanner,”
Daelen breathed, his brain hardly able to comprehend how something so
simple could feel so good. The human glanced up, gave him a cheeky
grin, and rolled his knuckles under the kaeldorei’s perineum,
dragging them back up under the loose, purple sac that was nearly
free of the dark purple hair that grew above Daelen’s cock.
Sensation drove Daelen mad as the human explored, taking his sweet
time in toying with the night elf’s body. Tanner’s
attention soon slid to the kaeldorei’s marvelous erection. The
same lavender hue, if slightly darker, as the rest of the elf, it had
an almost regal bearing. Proud, demanding, and ready to make you beg
to serve it.
Well, the human was
never one to resist temptation. He kept his eyes locked on Daelen’s
face as he slowly bent over the kaeldorei’s straining cock.
Daelen, inexperienced as he was, could only wait in tense
anticipation, wondering what the human was doing. Warm breath washed
over his dick as he felt the human’s hands settle around the
base and on the shaft. Then, Tanner’s tongue slipped out and
grazed the head.
Daelen wasn’t
even sure what exactly had happened. The moist contact was
registered, but the kaeldorei was already so hard that his conscious
mind was slow on the pick up. As the kaeldorei struggled to process
the fact that Tanner had just tasted him there, the
human sank lower and pressed his tongue against the crease of
Daelen’s large, round sack, leaving a wet, shiny trail behind
as he dragged his tongue along the veins of the thick, pulsing shaft.
Daelen couldn’t help but moan, digging his fingers into the
grass, clutching desperately at the tree. His hips thrust upwards,
keen on following the human’s warm tongue, but they were forced
back down by Tanner’s hand. “Oh, Tanner,” the
kaeldorei moaned as he felt fingers curl tight around his shaft. The
human gave him a wicked grin, and slowly slid Daelen’s foreskin
back, exposing the sensitive glands beneath.
That’s when
Tanner closed his mouth around the head of the kaeldorei’s
cock, swirling his tongue around the tip and making Daelen sob at the
sudden influx of pleasure. He couldn’t keep his hips from
jerking up, despite the human’s hand holding them down. Tanner
gamely swallowed as much as he could though, bobbing his head up and
down the column of lavender flesh. His fingers worked the parts of
Daelen’s shaft that wouldn’t fit in his mouth, drool
slipping down to drip over the kaeldorei’s sack. It had drawn
up tight, but that didn’t stop the human from using his free
hand to tug the heavy balls, roll them around and pull at the skin.
In the face of such
single-minded intent, Daelen hardly stood a chance. His virgin body
was overwhelmed, every nerve screaming in ecstasy as Tanner
mercilessly laved his tongue up and down the fat purple length. The
kaeldorei threw back his head and ground back against the tree,
struggling to lessen approach of his climax. He could already feel
tendrils snaking through his gut, the human’s touch driving him
wild, so wild and so hot, so hot he couldn’t breathe.
The sun glinted off the twin trails of moisture on his cheeks, the
sweat that clung to his body, and still Tanner bobbed fiercely,
stroking and clasping and touching and- oh sweet merciful Goddess he
was going to come-
“Ahh!”
Daelen cried, sobbing and thrusting into Tanner’s warm, soft
mouth. Wave after wave of orgasm rocketed through his body, even
after his dick stopped pulsing. The kaeldorei could only lay there,
eyes unfocused, wracked with deep, powerful sensations coursing
through his blood. A kittenish sweep of tongue over the head of his
cock stirred him back to reality, though, and his body shuddered as
the human continued to play with his softening member. Daelen nearly
flinched away when the human sucked the kaeldorei’s flaccid
length back into his mouth. “No more, Tanner,” the
kaeldorei begged.
Tanner gave Daelen’s
cock one last suckle before he let it fall from his mouth. The
kaeldorei shifted and reached to wipe the mess off his crotch, but when
he glanced down he only saw the remains of sweat and spit. Confused,
he looked about for a moment before the spark of realization hit. His
eyes widened in certain disbelief as he stared at the human.
“Did you swallow
it?” Daelen asked, shocked and incredulous. Tanner chuckled,
flashing the kaeldorei a naughty grin as the man ran his tongue over
his lips, leaning dangerously close to Daelen’s mouth.
“Do you want a
taste?” the human teased, his hot breath washing over Daelen’s
lips. The kaeldorei’s heart trilled. It was nasty and wrong,
but… Daelen’s mouth opened, and Tanner’s lips
curled at the corners before he thrust his tongue in the kaeldorei’s
mouth, hard and fast, conquering everything. Daelen was forced to
suck air in through his nostrils, his unfocused eyes snapping open at
the realization that the salty, bitter taste on Tanner’s tongue
was him. The kaeldorei moaned into the kiss, his blood
stirring sluggishly, his hands clasping Tanner’s lithe hips and
sliding under the human’s shirt. As Daelen slid his fingers up
the smooth skin of Tanner’s back, he found himself yearning to
do so much more to the man.
He broke the kiss,
turning his head slightly to the side. “Tanner,” Daelen
said, licking his lips. The human’s eyes flicked to his. “I-”
Daelen gulped. “I want to touch you.”
A slow smirk spread
over Tanner’s face before the human pulled back, his butt on
his heels. Tanner didn’t even bother unbuttoning his vest; he
simply shrugged his shirt over his head and tossed it aside. He eyed
Daelen, obviously liking the way the kaeldorei sat transfixed by his
body. “Go ahead, bright eyes. Fair’s fair, right?”
Daelen flushed at the
affectionate nickname the human used for him. He stared at Tanner’s
body, not moving until the human cocked his head at him. The
kaeldorei wasn’t sure where to begin. Hesitantly, he grasped
the man’s waist, rubbing his thumbs through the trail of brown
hairs that lead up the man’s abs before fanning out across
Tanner’s chest. Kaeldorei did not have body hair save for their
genitals, so Daelen was fascinated with the downy spread of little
brown hairs. He glanced up at Tanner’s face, took in the man’s
proud grin above the little patch of hair on his chin, the short,
ruffled, mahogany spikes on his head, his brilliant green eyes.
Something in the man’s face gave him the courage to lean
forward and lick one of Tanner’s round nipples, and Daelen
found himself liking the way the human arched into it. The kaeldorei
started to brush his fingers everywhere he could reach on the man;
stroking the hairs on his forearms, dragging his thumbs through his
armpits, burying his face in the hair between Tanner’s rounded
pecs.
His hands slid to the
ties binding Tanner’s pants, where he paused. “It’s
not gonna bite you,” Tanner said with a roll of his eyes,
pulling the ties loose himself. Daelen’s eyes were riveted to
the man’s bouncing cock. It wasn’t like the kaeldorei’s
own at all. While it still looked large on the man, Tanner’s
dick was relatively thinner than Daelen’s, and the glands on
the end didn’t flare out half so much as his. It was redder
than the rest of the human too, something the kaeldorei hadn’t
even considered before. The human got his feet under him and with an
easy roll of his hips, slid his leggings off, tossing them away too.
Tanner went back to his knees, grabbing the kaeldorei’s hands
and placing them both on his dick. For once, Daelen didn’t
falter, and eagerly wrapped his hand around the human’s cock.
He fondled and tugged, rolling the man’s erection around in a
circle, using his free hand to massage Tanner’s balls and play
with the brown curls.
Lost in his exploration
of the human’s dick, Daelen was only vaguely aware of his
hardening erection until Tanner pointedly rubbed his thigh against
it. The human grinned. “Good thing you got all that stamina,”
Tanner said, sliding a hand down to cup the kaeldorei’s
genitals. “Mm,” the human hummed as he tugged. Daelen
moaned at the motion, feeling the blood surge to his groin and his
erection straining. Tanner gave the kaeldorei another deep,
dominating kiss before he stood. “Wait here.”
Intrigued, the
kaeldorei watched as the human rooted around in his pants, finally
pulling out a little flask of what looked like some sort of herbal
oil. Tanner returned, dropping down to straddle Daelen’s waist.
The human opened the flask, pouring a handful into his palm before he
twisted his arm back to spread it over the kaeldorei’s cock.
Daelen’s eyes closed in bliss at the feel of the man’s
fingers, but after liberally anointing the oil, Tanner’s touch
disappeared. He opened his eyes in time to see the human’s hand
vanish behind the man’s back again, but… Daelen’s
eyebrows arched in surprise; it looked like Tanner was spreading the
oil on his butt. “What are you doing?” he asked, a trifle
incredulous.
Tanner gave him an
enigmatic grin. “Trust me, you’ll like it.” He rose
to his knees, one hand still holding the kaeldorei’s erection
steady. Daelen gasped when he felt his cock slide into the crevice of
the human’s butt, but then Tanner shifted again suddenly the
human was sinking so far down on his-
Daelen’s eyes
nearly popped out of his skull, his fingers digging into Tanner’s
thighs. His dick was surrounded by something so warm and so tight and
so smooth, so soft he couldn’t even think past the overload his
brain was experiencing. Then, Tanner twisted his hips and sank even
lower, and that’s when the kaeldorei realized that he was
inside him!
“Haaa!”
Daelen sobbed, the knowledge that he was actually inside the human
driving him wild. He couldn’t help but grasp Tanner’s
hips and thrust the rest of his length in, gasping at the feeling of
that smooth, soft, heat trying to devour his steel-hard
erection. The human fell forward, sprawling over the kaeldorei and
moaning his encouragement.
“Oh, fuck!”
Tanner cried. “That’s it Daelen! Just like that!”
The kaeldorei had to obey, every bone in his body screaming to
burying himself as deeply in the human’s warmth as he could. He
tightened his grip on Tanner’s hips and pulled back, whimpering
as he slid through the man’s body. It was too much, simply too
much. The human was just too warm, too soft, his skin was so smooth
and Daelen could hardly register the moisture slipping from his eyes.
“Yeah Daelen! Fuck me!” Tanner cheered as the kaeldorei
mindlessly slammed his thick cock back in. With the human’s new
angle, Daelen’s dick slid in with one impossibly long, easy
stroke. The sensation was unbelievable. In fact, doing that felt so
good that the kaeldorei pulled out and did it again.
His body knew what to
do, even if his brain didn’t. There was only one thing in the
world at that moment, and it was the incredible clenching heat that
Tanner surrounded him with. Everything else shut down. Daelen
couldn’t process the feel of Tanner’s sweaty hips
slipping from his grasp, or the few times he pulled out too far and
would thrust his cock along the human’s crack once or twice
before he could correct himself and plunge back in. He didn’t
notice Tanner’s fingers in his hair, or the man’s tongue
in his ear. The only conscious thought in the kaeldorei’s mind
was that he wanted to do this as long as possible.
Desperate though he was
to hold his climax back, to keep thrusting forever, Daelen was still
virgin, and unused to the sheer pleasure that coursed through his
veins. Orgasm caught him by surprise this time. The only warning was
one quick pulse through his dick and then the kaeldorei suddenly felt
his soul itself trying to pour into the human. His arms tightened
around the man, crushing him to his chest as his hips gave weak
little thrusts, unable to move because every single muscle in his
body had locked up and, sweet Goddess, he was coming, he was
coming in Tanner, in Tanner’s- in Tanner’s- he was coming
Tanner’s-!
At that point the
kaeldorei blacked out. Or, at least, he thought he did, because when
awareness came back Tanner had one hand pressing his dick into
Daelen’s corded abs and was frantically rocking his hips back
and forth. The human’s mouth was pursed tight, his eyes closed.
The kaeldorei was about to reach up to touch the man’s chest
when Tanner shuddered and came with a sharp intake of breath. Daelen
nearly choked when Tanner’s green eyes slid open and pinned him
once again, even as the man continued to shudder and grind against
the kaeldorei’s stomach.
Frozen, the kaeldorei
lay there, unable to move, until Tanner’s eyes flicked down to
the mess he had made on Daelen’s chest. One corner of the
human’s mouth curled up and he wiped his clean hand through his
splattered seed, catching most of it. Tanner made a face and flicked
his hand to the side before standing. When the man swung around,
Daelen felt a flash of heat run through his blood at the sight of oil
and semen oozing down from Tanner’s taut little butt, followed
by a flash of pride with the knowledge that he was responsible
for it.
Feeling lethargic, the
kaeldorei simply watched as the human carefully bent to snag his
canteen, took a swig, and slowly strode out of the glade, still
naked. Daelen’s confusion faded when he heard the sound of the
canteen being upended and water splashing out. He glanced down at his
own body, which, though sweaty, looked relatively untouched. Tanner
had managed to clear most of his come from the kaeldorei’s
chest, but Daelen’s eyes snapped to a thin little strand the
human had missed. Curious, he rubbed a finger through it, catching
most and thinking about Tanner swallowing his earlier. Tentatively,
the kaeldorei brought it to his tongue, licking the human’s
seed off his finger. It wasn’t as bitter, and not as salty, as
what he’d tasted in Tanner’s mouth earlier, though he
could tell it was similar. A trill ran down his spine. He’d
tasted himself. He’d fucked Tanner. He’d tasted Tanner.
Daelen found himself grinning.
The tree he was leaning
against was starting to feel uncomfortable though. The kaeldorei
roused himself and reached for his own canteen, shivering with tired
delight as he poured what little water remained over his dick.
Gingerly, he got to his feet and dusted bits of bark and grass from
his butt. He pulled on his pants, his ears pricking at the sound of
Tanner’s approach. The human wrapped his arms around Daelen’s
waist from behind, sliding his hands up the kaeldorei’s
chiseled chest. Tanner hummed as he pressed his face into Daelen’s
back. “That felt good,” he purred.
Daelen, unsure of how
to respond without sounding dumb, just stood there blushing. Rubbing
his cheek against the kaeldorei’s skin one last time, Tanner
turned to grab his pants. He hopped into them quickly. Daelen was
disappointed to see him shrug his shirt back on too, though the
kaeldorei was mollified by the fact that the heat was finally getting
to the man. Tanner loosened the top few buttons, revealing a hint of
downy brown chest hair and effortlessly looking amazing. The sight
sparked another surge of arousal, and Daelen turned away before the
man could see his giddy grin.
Glancing back, the
kaeldorei watched the human sit on one of the tree’s thick
roots, boots in hand and bag on his shoulders. “Tanner?”
“Yeah?” the
human said as he pulled on his boots.
Daelen glanced away,
thinking about the right way to ask the man. Tanner stood, sauntering
over to the kaeldorei, stopping well within the elf’s personal
bubble. Working up his nerve, Daelen finally asked, “Can- Can I
do these things to you next time?”
The man arched a brow
at him, the hint of a smirk on his face. “What things?”
The kaeldorei colored
and stared at the ground. “Well… take you in… in
my… my mouth and… my…” Daelen fumbled, not
certain he could actually say the words. He looked to the human,
helplessly. “My…”
Tanner finally took
pity on him and hooked an arm around the kaeldorei’s waist,
gazing up at Daelen with that same damn grin on his face. “Hardly
finished with the first time and already wanting more,” the
human teased.
Daelen blushed as he
exhaled. “Well, I’d really like there to be a next time,”
Daelen said shyly. The human let out that throaty chuckle of true
amusement that the kaeldorei was so fond of.
“Hey, don’t
worry bright eyes. I’ll be your next time,” Tanner
purred, leaning into Daelen’s body, deepening the embrace.
Tanner brushed his nose, his lips over the lavender skin, tasted the
curves of powerful muscle. “I’ll be your next time,”
he breathed, “And the time after that,” Tanner stood on
his tiptoes, licking the veins of Daelen’s neck, “And the
time after that.” The human finally brought his mouth to
Daelen’s lips, thrusting his tongue past the kaeldorei’s
lips and trying to swab the elf’s throat. His hands brushed
over everything on Daelen’s incredible body, managing to touch
almost every inch of bare skin. Daelen shuddered at the man’s
intensity, clasping his fingers around Tanner’s hips as his
blood struggled to give it another go. “But not now,”
Tanner said, as he spun away suddenly.
The kaeldorei was left
to stare at the man’s abrupt departure. “Wha- where are
you going?” he asked.
The human turned back
to face him. “Don’t tell me you forgot already, Dael,”
Tanner said, walking backwards and laughing as Daelen grabbed his
pack and hurried to catch up with him. “I still have to show
you your surprise!”
“My- Oh, you mean
that wasn-” Daelen suddenly snapped his mouth shut, his cheeks
practically on fire as he realized what he’d been about to say.
Tanner blinked at him
before the meaning hit. “You thought that- haha!” Tanner
threw back his head and laughed. “You thought that I actually
planned that out? Haha!” The human had doubled over now, unable
to walk, clenching his stomach as he continued to laugh. “Hahaha,
oh, my, that’s so rich, haha!” The kaeldorei, not quite
seeing the humor, shifted nervously from one foot to the other.
Eventually, the little man managed to regain his composure. He placed
his hands on Daelen’s waist. “Oh Daelen,” Tanner
said breathlessly. “No Daelen, no, I didn’t plan this
hike for that. Hah, that just sort of happened.”
That troubled the
kaeldorei, his heart tightening, though he didn’t quite know
why. ““That… that all ‘just sort of
happened?’”
The human shrugged, his
grin still in place. “Well, maybe I helped along a little. Just
a bit, here and there.” Tanner continued to gaze up at the
kaeldorei, slowly stroking a hand long the side of Daelen’s
ribs. Their intimacy started to ease the knot that Daelen had felt
building inside.
His fears, however
slight, allayed, the kaeldorei tried to think of something to say
that would lighten the mood. “So- what is my surprise then?”
he asked.
“Ah-ah! You want
me to spoil it?” Tanner wagged a finger at Daelen
admonishingly. “You’ll see it when we get there.”
Daelen watched the human’s eyes flicker over his face before
the lithe man reached up to run a finger over one of the kaeldorei’s
long ears. Daelen shuddered. Tanner chuckled, throatily, like before,
and slipped away. The kaeldorei simply stood there for a moment,
appreciating the beauty of the dappled sunlight on the forest floor,
on the human’s shoulders.
Daelen was also eager
to see this surprise, however, so he forced himself to keep pace with
Tanner. Fortunately the, er …rest… beneath that huge
goldwood seemed to have energized the kaeldorei. It didn’t take
long for the pair of them to cover the last steep bluff, before they
crossed into a much rockier conifer forest. Daelen thought that they
must be fairly high on the mountain now. Wildflowers grew among the
crags and gullies, and he recognized some stocky silverbrush and
trefoil growing in clusters around fallen logs. His ears pricked at a
familiar sound, but he couldn’t quite place the distant treble.
He figured they had to
be close now. Tanner was moving even faster, a touch of excitement
showing through. The kaeldorei could hear that noise getting louder
as they hiked over pine needles and some sort of thick, spongy moss
that seemed to thrive despite the acrid needles. The conifers gave
way to a batch of truly old goldwoods, ones that had to be centuries
older than the rest of the forest. Daelen gaped at the impressive
size of the silver trunks and golden leaves, not expecting to see
anything like this anywhere in Westfall. Even his stunted druidic
nature could sense the presence of living nature spirits here.
Everything in this little patch of forest made him feel like he was
back in the Bawynor, though they couldn’t be further apart in
physical differences. It was in the way that sunlight seemed to flit
slowly through the air, it was in the way butterflies lazily flapped
their wings, more like they swam than flew. Time was muffled here,
here, in this human forest, in this human kingdom. Daelen couldn’t
help but marvel.
Distracted, the
kaeldorei smacked into Tanner, having not noticed that human had
stopped. “We’re here,” Tanner laughed as he
steadied Daelen.
Daelen’s jaw
dropped as he glanced past the human. The towering goldwoods were
spread out over large clumps of bedrock, nestled in the center of
which was the rippling water of a sky-blue pond. A tumbling waterfall
fed one end of the pool, and the kaeldorei nearly slapped himself for
not recognizing the sound sooner. He glanced up, through the canopy,
to see the waterfall pouring off a cliff high in the air. Goddess
above, he was even more surprised to find this here, in the plains of
Westfall, than the touch of nature spirits. He ran over to the edge
of the pond, leaning over to peer into the crystal clear waters.
Daelen marveled at the fact that he could see clear through to the
bottom of the pond. He heard Tanner stroll up beside him and he
turned to face the human, his joy and excitement written on his face.
Tanner grinned at the
kaeldorei’s expression. “Neat, huh?”
Daelen laughed at the
understatement. “It’s…” he trailed off, not
really having the words for it. He felt revitalized. He hadn’t
known that he had missed the forest, the sounds of it, the life, this
much. “Thank you, Tanner,” the kaeldorei said solemnly.
He meant it.
The human shrugged one
shoulder, looking away, but Daelen could tell he was pleased. “You
said what you missed most about the mountains were the pools right?”
The man glanced at the pool. “Well William’s Peak may not
be much of a mountain, but it’s the closest thing we got. I
figured it’d be a nice little reminder, since every so often
you’ll get that distant look in your eyes and you’ll see
someplace far away.”
It took a moment for
the full weight of Tanner’s words to sink in. It was gradual.
First, the kaeldorei simply appreciated that the man cared about him,
and then it struck Daelen that Tanner knew what he wanted better than
the kaeldorei knew himself. He had only given vague thoughts to home,
but this hike had refilled something that Daelen hadn’t even
noticed he’d been missing.
There are many ways
that revelations come. For Daelen, it was the single, stray thought
that this forest, this pool, was infinitely better than anything the
Bawynor had to offer because this place had Tanner. Such an
innocuous little thought, one that should seem blindingly obvious
too, but its impact nearly staggered the kaeldorei. It’s one
thing to think, to wonder about, to suspect. It’s also quite
different to know. His eyes slid to the human beside him, his
heart pounding and words catching in his throat. Daelen knew, for a
fact then, that he had to be in love.
Noticing the
kaeldorei’s stare, the human grinned at him, his green eyes
flashing. “What?”
Daelen gazed at the man
a moment longer, before he wrapped his arms around Tanner’s
shoulders and pulled him close, burying his face in Tanner’s
neck. The sheer enormity of the moment had wrapped a stranglehold
around his heart and lodged it in his throat. Daelen never thought
he’d feel this close to anyone. He’d never dared to hope,
dared to dream, that there would be a moment like this in his life, a
point that he didn’t feel so alone, but that had changed since
Tanner Sack. He never thought he’d have a home he loved, a best
friend he loved, or companions he’d miss, but that, too, had
changed since Tanner Sack.
The kaeldorei tightened
his arms, emotion threatening to overwhelm him. Everything had
changed since Tanner Sack.
Tanner, clutched so
closely to the elf he could hardly breathe, started at the feel of a
few hot tears hitting his neck. “Hey, hey now!” he said,
digging a hand into Daelen’s hair. “C’mon bright
eyes, perk up a little. My company ain’t that bad!” The
human paused, then added, “Least, it ain’t nothing to cry
over.”
A choked laugh escaped
Daelen’s throat, though it was muffled by Tanner’s shirt.
The kaeldorei held the human a moment longer before he managed to
compose himself and loosen his tight grip. Tanner brought his hands
up to Daelen’s face, pulling back so he could get a clear view.
Daelen kept his eyes shut, reveling in the soft strokes of Tanner’s
thumbs over his cheeks. When the human didn’t say anything,
Daelen opened his eyes to see Tanner gazing up at him with an almost
dreamy expression, but it passed and the man stood on his tiptoes to
plant a little kiss on the kaeldorei’s mouth. “What do
you say we dive in?” Tanner asked.
Daelen was quick to
agree, the summer heat and humidity still clinging to his skin. The
kaeldorei sneaked glances at Tanner as the man undressed, and Tanner
openly stared when Daelen pulled off his pants. The human man even
gave an appreciative hum and reached out to rub the kaeldorei’s
butt, which prompted Daelen to jerk and start towards the water,
Tanner hot on his heels.
The pool was fresh
mountain water, and felt like it was freezing compared to way the
kaeldorei had been baking before. He dove into the water, kicking and
splashing to get his body to adjust to the new temperature. Daelen
continued to hold his head under until he felt his lungs start to
burn, at which point he kicked as hard as he could and burst from the
water’s surface, exhilarated by the simple joy of swimming. He
tossed the ropes of his long, wet hair back, looking for Tanner,
turning to see the man only waist deep with his arms clenched around
his chest. It took a minute for Daelen to realize that the slight
tremble in the man’s jaw was because his teeth were chattering.
A dark grin flashed
across the kaeldorei’s face. Just as Tanner was used to the
summer heat, Daelen was used to the wintry waters of the Bawynor, and
this was the perfect time for payback. Relaxing his body, Daelen kept
his hands on the shallow bed and let the current carry him closer to
the human. “What’s wrong, Tanner?” he asked,
feigning ignorance.
Tanner gave him a
sheepish smile. “Water’s a little cold,” he said,
as yet unaware that the kaeldorei had turned on him.
Daelen’s laugh
was bright and cheerful. “Are you joking?” he asked.
“This is fantastic!” Daelen rolled playfully, subtly
inching closer to the man. Tanner just rolled his eyes and huffed a
little, looking away, and giving the kaeldorei the perfect
opportunity to strike. Daelen, crouched beneath the shallow water,
rose to his full height and swooped the man up in his arms, spinning
instantly and throwing the human far into the middle of the pond.
Tanner landed with a satisfying splash, immediately surfacing to
shriek at the top of his lungs.
“Holy fucking
mother fuck!” the man cursed, wiping water from his eyes and
splashing his way towards shore. Daelen tackled him again, sending
both men back into the frigid water. The kaeldorei kept his arms
locked around the thrashing human, righting himself and pulling
Tanner out of the water at the same time. Tanner gasped for air, but
didn’t try struggle, preferring Daelen’s extra body heat.
The human laughed as he leaned back into the kaeldorei’s
support. “Damn,” he said, “I always forget how cold
this pool is.”
“Hah, this is a
hot spring compared to Bawynor,” Daelen said. “Elune
above, I missed this.” He hugged Tanner underwater. “Thank
you.”
The human shrugged,
embarrassed, and twisted about to face Daelen, tilting his face up
for a kiss. The kaeldorei was just about to lean over to kiss the man
when he found his legs kicked out from under him. Tanner fought to
hold him under, but once the tall kaeldorei got his feet righted on
the floor of the pool he simply stood up, lifting the human clear out
of the water. Tanner squirmed about in his hold, but couldn’t
break free before Daelen tossed him back into the center of the pool
again.
They continued to play
like that for a while, the lithe human trying, in vain, to hold the
big kaeldorei under, but Daelen’s extra foot and a half of
height gave him a decidedly unfair advantage in tossing the human
away. Eventually the game devolved into Tanner goading Daelen to toss
the human the furthest he possible could. The kaeldorei found that if
he threw Tanner with force, rather than height, the human would
almost skip across the water surface for a brief second. Tanner soon
tired of being the one tossed all the time, so he tried his hand at
throwing Daelen, but given that the kaeldorei had at least a hundred
pounds on the man that didn’t work out too well either. Tanner
huffed and puffed about it, pretending to sulk for a while, until he
said he’d only be appeased if Daelen let him ride around on his
shoulders.
So the kaeldorei found
himself with Tanner’s legs on his chest, studiously ignoring
the feel of the human’s cock and balls squished into the back of his neck. Tanner would order him around the pool, sometimes clasping his fingers over
the kaeldorei’s eyes or telling him to spin around, really,
really, really fast, until Daelen would get dizzy and fall over,
dunking both of them. It ended when Tanner tried to bend
himself in half to give the kaeldorei an upside-down kiss and made
them fall over once again.
Tanner’s head
surfaced for a moment before the human dived back under. Daelen,
suspecting some sort of foul play, tensed up, prepared to dive away
when he felt a hand rather purposely grip the half-hard erection he’d
been nursing while Tanner was on his shoulders. Tanner popped out of
the water right in front of the kaeldorei, grinning wickedly as he
dipped his tongue in Daelen’s belly button. The kaeldorei
shuddered, letting the human walk him backwards out of the water and
onto a long outcropping of rock, warmed by the sun. Urged to lie
back, Daelen obediently dropped down and reclined, pulling Tanner
with him to lock the man in a passionate kiss.
When the kiss broke,
Tanner had those same, lazy, half-lidded eyes as before. He gazed at
Daelen for a moment before he spoke. “You know, I lied back
there. Sorta.” He rubbed the bridge of his nose against the
kaeldorei’s chin. “This is where I actually planned to
seduce you.”
Daelen felt a tremor
course down his spine at the human’s words. Well, the words,
combined with the touch of Tanner’s fingers to his cock. The
revelation wasn’t entirely a surprise, given how warmly Tanner
had reacted, but the kaeldorei found himself wondering. “Were
you even asleep?” he asked, glancing into the other man’s
eyes.
The human gave him a
half-cocked grin. “Do you think I was?” Daelen shook his
head. “Clever man,” Tanner chuckled, and slipped his
fingers over the kaeldorei’s perineum to graze against a very
sensitive, very personal area.
Daelen’s eyes
widened as his whole body reacted to the touch. “Are you going
to,” The kaeldorei paused, flicking his tongue out to wet his
lips. “Take me?”
Hunger darkened the
human’s brilliant eyes. “Maybe. I don’t know if
you’re ready.” Tanner moved to slide down Daelen’s
sculpted body, but the kaeldorei stopped him.
“I want you in my
mouth.” The words were out of his mouth before he gave
conscious thought to what he said.
Tanner gave the
kaeldorei a devious grin before he swung his body around and knelt
about Daelen’s head, lowering his hips to rub his hard cock
against the kaeldorei’s face. Daelen, surprised, snatched at it
with his hands, eagerly flicking his tongue out to explore the
flaring tip. “Watch the teeth, and try not to gag yourself,”
Tanner warned as he bent over Daelen’s body and reached for the
kaeldorei’s fat, purple cock. The human sucked the head into
his mouth, making Daelen groan around his mouthful of Tanner’s
cock. He tried to mimic everything the human had done to him. The
bobbing head, nipping with lip-covered teeth, slipping his tongue
around everything, but when the kaeldorei brought his hands up to
force the human to give him more, he found something he liked even
better.
His palms flat on
Tanner’s bottom, his fingers slid over the fine hairs to graze
over the coarse curls that lined the crevice that parted the middle.
Pulling the man’s cheeks apart, the kaeldorei blindly explored
the human’s bottom until he felt his fingers graze a firm
little rosebud. Noticing the tremble the human gave when Daelen
touched his fingers to the tight entrance, he found himself grazing
it more often, harder and harder each time his fingers passed over
it, until one inevitably slipped in. That certainly got a reaction
from Tanner, the man letting Daelen’s cock slip form his mouth
to moan in pleasure. Encouraged, Daelen slid the finger in further,
marveling that this was the same, warm channel that had held his cock
so beautifully earlier.
The human hummed
brokenly, pulling his cock free from Daelen’s mouth and
crawling down the kaeldorei’s form. “”m sorry,
bright eyes. You’ll have to ride me some other time. Right now
I need you back in me.” Tanner reared up, reaching behind
himself once more to grasp the kaeldorei’s thick cock, except
this time Daelen had a clear view of what actually happened. As the
human positioned the swollen erection at his tiny, rosebud entrance,
Daelen suddenly realized just how much damage his dick could wreck on
the man’s insides.
“No, don’t-”
he started to say, concerned for Tanner’s well-being, but the
human had already brought his ass down on the kaeldorei’s
purple cock. The welcome return of Tanner’s soft heat
drove the poor kaeldorei crazy with lust. Later, Daelen would hardly
be able to recall his hands gripping Tanner’s hips and forcing
the man down the rest of his erection, nor would he remember their
combined sobs. The only thing his brain could focus on was that his
dick was back inside the man. At some point during his furious
thrusting he tossed Tanner backwards so hard that the man tumbled
back onto his chest, which also changed the angle of penetration and
let the kaeldorei slam himself just that much deeper. Some
tiny portion of his mind was aware of the human writhing against his
chest. Daelen slapped Tanner’s hand away from cock and fisted
it himself, timing the motions of his hand opposite those of his
hips. He vaguely registered Tanner’s hands clawing at his
wrist, and he felt a spark immense delight in the knowledge that his
touch was driving the human wild.
He thrust hard,
fantasizing about wrenching Tanner’s orgasm from his body,
tearing it out the way the human had done to him earlier. Daelen
struggled to do everything he could thing of to make the man lose
control. He bit his neck, snarled dirty words in his ear, ground his
dick inside the man as hard as he could, fisted his cock and used his
free hand to pinch Tanner’s nipples. Tanner twisted, sobbing,
agonized by pleasure. The human hadn’t expected Daelen to be so
determined, to lash out claim him so deeply. It was too much, simply
too much. Tanner felt his gut coil up and tighten as he shot, his
climax tearing through his body mercilessly.
Earlier, Daelen had
come inside the human, but his cock had softened and he hadn’t
truly felt what it was like to be inside a man when that man’s
body was convulsing in exquisite agony. The kaeldorei only knew that
one moment he was thrusting into Tanner’s sweet, soft, heat,
that heat had to border on divine, when all of a sudden the muscles
inside the man contracted and tried to strangle the life out of his
dick. With every muscle in the man’s body bearing down on his
recently-virgin cock, Daelen’s own orgasm was milked from the
hapless kaeldorei, and, once again, he felt his soul pour out of his
body and be lost in the human.
It took a long time for
their sense to return. Their minds lost in the afterglow, their
bodies sweaty and wasted, the sun slid across the sky a little
further before Daelen felt the human stir. Tanner pulled away, rising
and slowly sauntered toward the pool, his eyes shooting Daelen an
obvious invitation over his shoulder. The kaeldorei joined the man
for a refreshing wash, but the sun was starting to get low in the sky
and they were both ready to head home for dinner. As they dried off,
Daelen pondered what the human had said to him about not being ready.
“Tanner?”
The human yawned,
rubbing his hands over his face and through his hair. “Yeah?”
he asked.
Goddess above, the
kaeldorei already felt his cheeks heat and he hadn’t even asked
the damn question yet. “Why did you say that… that I’m
not ready to…” Daelen trailed off, hoping the man
wouldn’t make him actually say the last part. “To take
you… take you in my…” He made a vague gesture
with his hands before he bent to pull on his pants.
Tanner was silent as he
tried to find the right words. “”Cause it… takes a
bit of practice,” he said delicately. The man tossed Daelen his
daypack as the kaeldorei mused on that.
“Oh.” He
had to practice it? Daelen’s face burned. “Is- Is that
why I,” The kaeldorei swallowed, but managed to force out the
words. “Fit inside you?”
“Yeah, after I
saw how big you were, I figured it’d be best to be a bit
prepared.” Tanner gave a nonchalant shrug.
The kaeldorei stopped
in his tracks, not quite sure what he’d heard. “What?”
he asked, his face white.
Tanner stopped and
turned back to face Daelen, his eyes lighting up. “Really Dael,
did you think you were alone all those times you fled behind the tool
shed?”
“Y-You watched
me?” Tanner nodded, a sly grin on his face. Daelen felt his
shoulders slump, not sure what to think. On one hand the human had
obviously known about the kaeldorei’s preference for a long
time, and had left Daelen to worry and fret over his inner turmoil.
On the other… the thought of Tanner watching him rub one out
was… kind of- “But why?” he asked.
Tanner just stared at
the kaeldorei, grinning and shaking his head. “You really don’t
get it, do you?” Daelen glanced at the man quizzically, not
understanding what Tanner was talking about. The man sighed, still
grinning, and sauntered forward to snake an arm around the
kaeldorei’s waist. “Poor Daelen,” Tanner murmured
as he ran his mouth up Daelen’s neck, over his lips. “Must
be tough, being innocent as a’ angel, but born with a body
built for such sin.” In a flash the man’s hand was down
his pants and wrapped around his dick.
“Tanner!”
Daelen cried against the little human’s lips, trying to
disentangle himself from the man’s grasp. Tanner let him pull
away, laughing at the elf’s heated face.
“I’m sorry
Dael,” Tanner said, trying to look contrite but failing
miserably. “You’re just too easy a target.” The
kaeldorei huffed and nearly dashed away, trying to keep his distance
from the man. Tanner couldn’t help but laugh, and called after
the elf. “I’m sorry! I am!”
+====+
By the time they’d
reached the bottom of the last foothill the sky had started to get
dark. The buzz of cicadas had faded and now evening birdsong filled
the air. A brief wind had picked up and the air was almost pleasantly
cool, with the huge sun setting in the distance and the sky coloring
a dazzling array of purple and gold. The only problem was that every
time Daelen tried to appreciate the sheer beauty of the day, Tanner
would run his hand over the hard mounds of the kaeldorei’s
butt, or sneak his fingers down the front of Daelen’s light
pants. The poor kaeldorei would jerk and dance away, forced to keep a
steady three paces ahead of the human because the man would not stop
touching him like that. Daelen was certain that his face was
burned a permanent red. He had no idea how to deal with the human now
that Tanner was so blatantly sexual. It wasn’t that he didn’t
like it; in fact he was thrilled every time he felt the touch of the
human’s hand against his skin. It’s just that this was
all so new, so foreign, and something that he had never expected
would happen to him, that was the problem.
They reached the crest
of a wooded bluff, the last one before the trees petered out and the
trail lead them back to the Tam farm. Lost in thought, Daelen didn’t
hear the sudden spring in Tanner’s step until it was too late
and the big kaeldorei was tackled into a bed of clover. “Tanner!”
Daelen exclaimed, flipping himself over to face the human, freezing
in fear the moment he caught a glimpse of Tanner’s face. The
man had a dark look of predatory hunger, his eyes pinning the big
kaeldorei to the ground. “T-Tanner?” Daelen stammered as
the human leaned closer, the human’s little grin suddenly
seeming more appropriate on a wolf than a man.
“Did you really
think you could get away with it, bright eyes?” Tanner said,
his voice some strange cross between a growl and a coo. The kaeldorei
trembled a little.
“G-Get away with
what?”
Tanner leaned forward
and inhaled deeply, brushing his nose against Daelen’s cheek.
“Teasing me like that,” the human said, using that same
amorous tone he had before.
The kaeldorei’s
brow creased with distress. He started to stammer. “I-I wasn’t
teasing you Tannaaah!” Tanner had stopped playing with Daelen
and gone straight to his prey, pulling the kaeldorei’s thick,
soft member free and sucking the entire length into his mouth. Made
fearless by arousal, Daelen couldn’t help but place his hand on
the human’s bobbing head, the swirling tongue and stroking
fingers driving his worn body back to a state of lust. “Ooooh,
Tanner,” the kaeldorei nearly sobbed as Tanner’s tongue
wandered lower…
Five minutes later
Tanner stood and dragged the back of his hand over his lips, proudly
surveying his handiwork. Daelen lay back, propped up only by his
pack, his legs spread wantonly and his fading erection bare for the
world to see. It was flopped backwards, like some great slaughtered
beast, lying on a patch of purple curls and covered in a sheen of
drool. Honestly, the sight made the human’s mouth water and
almost enticed him to do it again, but one look at Daelen’s
dazed eyes and panting chest suggested that the kaeldorei might not
be able to handle another go.
Grinning, he thrust his
hands in his pockets and hummed some wordless tune as he spun on his
heel and started back towards the farm, looking inordinately pleased
with himself. Daelen continued to simply lie there, struggling to get
his breath under control, a deep ache starting to set in his balls.
Gingerly, the kaeldorei managed to gather his limbs together and
rose, stopping halfway to grab hold of his pants and pull them up
too. He took one slow step, nearly whimpering when his penis brushed
against the inside of his pants. The over-sensitized nerves sent such
a rush of feeling back through his body that it was almost painful to
feel the blood try to flow back to his genitals. Daelen managed to
clamp down the twinges of nerves in his body and set off after
Tanner.
Goddess above, the
human was going to be the death of him. Four times; the human had
wrung orgasms four times from his body that day. Daelen tried to
shrug off the lethargic feelings trying to work their way under his
skin. Crossing through a grove of birch that signified the border of
the forest and Farmer Tam’s fields, he stopped to take a deep
breath and stepped out into the bright sunlight.
Golden grass crackled
in the breeze, and Tanner turned back to shoot the kaeldorei a
teasing grin. Daelen halted a good yard away, half-afraid and
half-hoping the human would tackle him again. When Daelen didn’t
move to catch up with him, the human threw up his arms and walked
back. The human’s grin got wider as he got closer.
“You have twigs
in your hair,” he teased, reaching up to pluck them out. Daelen
flushed and fidgeted awkwardly, until he finally nerved himself and
leaned over to press his lips against Tanner’s. The human
responded warmly, letting the kaeldorei’s tongue explore his
mouth and humming a pleased note as they pulled apart.
“Mm, Daelen,”
Tanner said, “I just love what you do to me.” Daelen’s
cheeks flared again, and Tanner laughed, which made the big kaeldorei
duck his head in embarrassment and start back home again.
The human caught up
quickly, thankfully keeping his hands in his pockets this time and
strolling alongside Daelen, occasionally nudging the kaeldorei’s
arm with his own. Daelen found that he was rather pleased at the
gentle contact. He could hardly keep a little grin of his own off his
face. In fact, Daelen was thinking that this was easily the best day
of his life when he looked ahead to see the elderly Tams shuffle
frantically past the last hedgerow, though the worried expressions on
their faces seemed to fade to relief at the sight of him and Tanner.
“Where were you
boys!” Martha asked as he and Tanner quickened their pace to
reach the couple. “You both alright? Mac Tam here thinks he
heard someone scream, damn fool that he is, thinking he can hear that
when he can’t even hear me tell him when it’s time to get
up!” Daelen looked at her in confusion. They had heard no cry.
Martha crinkled her hands in worry, belying her concern despite her
critical words.
“Durnit woman I
hear you fine!” Mac yelled, just a tad louder than he really
had to. “I just don’t wanna get up! Ain’t nothing
wrong wit’ ma hearin’ woman! I knows what I heard, and I
heard someone scream Tanner’s name!”
Oh, damn it! The
kaeldorei nearly crumpled. Daelen wanted nothing more than to sink
into the ground and disappear forever. The old farmer must have heard
him yell when Tanner put his mouth on… put his mouth on his…
and then made him… made him… Goddess above, he couldn’t
even think it without feeling mortified! The kaeldorei ran his hand
over his face; he wasn’t going to be able to look them in the
eye ever again!
Seeing that Daelen was
at a loss for words, Tanner stepped up, a calm smile on his face.
“Your hearing’s as good as ever Mac. Dael here did
scream,” the human said. Daelen nearly started to choke. Surely
Tanner wasn’t about to tell them! “Crazed boar was being
chased by a pack. Charged out from nowhere at us up on the bluffs,
big guy almost knocked Dael right over the edge.” Martha and
Mac both gasped, their eyes wide. “Don’t worry, I saw it
coming. I grabbed him in time.”
Martha shuffled
forward, laying a bony hand on Daelen’s arm. “You’re
lucky you got Tanner here to protect you,” she said, her face
practically beaming. Martha remembered herself then and turned to her
husband. “See! I told ya! Dinn’t I tell ya! He’s
fine, I says, he’s got Tanner Sack up there with him! But no
that’s not good enough, oh no, old fool like you gotta get me
all scared and riled up! Got terrify me like that!” Her shrill
voice had lost the kindly tone she used on the kaeldorei.
Mac bristled, tugging
on his gray beard while he argued back. “Durnit woman he was
not fine! Dinn’t ya hear him tell ya? A goretusk damn near
tossed him right off a cliff woman, he coulda been killed! Coulda
tossed Tanner too I’ll bet! If’n you’da had your
way and they was hurt up there no one’d know for a month! Old
fool me will ya, damn woman you’re the fool!” Martha
gaped at him, her hands on her hips.
“Me? Me, the
fool! Coulda ain’t the same thing as was! Tanner coulda gotten
tossed off, just like our hens coulda start laying gold! Lot’s
of things coulda! I coulda married Bill Demont, left you here on this
farm and gone to the city! Did I? Nooo, fool like you gotta bust in
on the weddin’ and carry me off without even a ‘by your
by, miss’!” The farmwife’s heated words seemed to
energize her. Martha’s legs were almost churning as she stalked
down the road back to the farmhouse.
Her husband was keeping
remarkable pace with her too. “I was a damn fool woman! If’n
I knowed I was gonna get stuck wit’ you all these years I’da
married that Saldean girl, at least she could cook a good meal once
in a while!”
“Why! I! I never!
I’ll fool you, you bastard old coot!” Intent on their
argument, the elderly couple hadn’t noticed that Tanner and
Daelen had fallen far behind. The kaeldorei had been near horrified
when he witnessed the first time the couple erupted on each other,
but over the next couple months had slowly come to realize that the
two old humans actually enjoyed the fighting. He even found himself
amused by some of the livelier spats the two had.
He could see Tanner’s
sly grin from the corner of his eye. “You hear that, Daelen
Rainsorrow? You’re lucky; you got me to protect you.”
Tanner teased, poking a hard finger into Daelen’s ribs.
“I know.”
His voice quivered. Daelen hadn’t quite meant for it to come
out like that, but he could hardly control himself. The human meant
so much to him. So much.
Tanner grabbed his arm
and swung in front of him. Daelen stopped, somewhat uncertain, his
eyes on the ground. After a moment, the kaeldorei shyly looked back
up at Tanner’s face. With the sun setting just over Tanner’s
head, the little man’s face was bathed in shadow. He couldn’t
see much, save for the fact that Tanner had lost his little grin and
was peering up at him, as though he were searching for something in
Daelen’s eyes.
“I’m lucky
too, you know,” he whispered, sliding his arms around Daelen’s
waist. “I have something to protect.” Daelen felt the
human tense and pull him close. The kaeldorei wanted to say something
to convey the depth of what he felt for the man, but all the words
that came to mind sounded trite and meaningless. His brain kept
urging him to say something, anything, but the moment was broken.
“Boys!” The
kaeldorei started at the call, glancing up to see Martha standing the
edge of the porch, a dishrag in her hands. Daelen instinctively
clutched Tanner close, his heart in his throat, but the human in his
arms calmly twisted at the waist to look at the farmwife. “Supper’s
ready!” she called. Tanner raised one arm and acknowledged her
with a languid wave, turning back to Daelen completely unconcerned.
Martha smiled indulgently, flipping the rag over her shoulder and
strolled back into the farmhouse.
Daelen’s heart
was still beating rapidly. “Hey,” Tanner said, jerking
the kaeldorei’s attention back to the human in his arms.
Tanner’s bright, guileless eyes transfixed the night elf. “It’s
okay Dael. What’d I say about protecting you?” The
kaeldorei gaped at the man before surrendering with an exasperated
laugh. The human stood on his tiptoes to plant a quick kiss on the
side of Daelen’s face before he stepped out of the kaeldorei’s
embrace.
Tanner slipped his
little hand into Daelen’s and tugged him towards the farmhouse.
“Now move those big feet, bright eyes,” Tanner said,
looking back at the elf, that same teasing grin back on his face.
“Martha’s making Westfall Stew. Good for what ails ya.”
Daelen let the human
pull him along, keenly aware of the burn Tanner’s kiss had left
on his cheek.
+--------+
What I’m not
telling you guys about are all the times that that Tanner convinced
the big, naïve night elf to share his bed with him (Tanner’s
favorite excuse was that they had to “conserve body heat”).
An addendum: I’d really
like to hear what you thought of this- did any parts seem rushed? Did
I move too fast, try to cover too much? Did the story end the first
time they had sex? One thing that struck me halfway through writing
this is that I tried to combine hardcore sex with pure romance. Did
it work? I'd like to know :P
So yeah, I’d love to
hear what you guys have to say. And just out of curiosity, what class
would you guys say Tanner is? Personally, I think it’s a toss
up between rogue and mage (slowfall and all, ya know).
