Introduction
1. Introduction
Over the span of three decades I've had many names. At my first home - Agger's farm, down south - they called me Barke, tough and enduring as I was. I've been called Brigand, Friend, Soldier, Lord and even Killer.
I earned each of those titles, though some may tell you they were undeserved. They aren't. I am a killer, a brigand, a true friend, and a loyal and dutiful neighbour. Yes, I’ve even been a Lord in name, even if not in deed.
My critics will tell you that I don't exist and my defenders will tell you, that certain stories are wrongly attributed to me. Both are mistaken.
Let me tell you my story...
