Forte followed from a discrete distance, content to watch the horde of viruses that chased a single navi
through this abandoned section of the net. He had encountered this navi before, both from afar, as he was
now, and in battle. He knew the navi below was a formidable opponent, but only when in contact with his
operator. Now, however, he knew Rockman was at a severe disadvantage where there was no contact with
the outside world, this section of the net so damaged that no human creation, save the navis or viruses,
could penetrate its depths.
He watched as Rockman began to stumble, his shots miss their mark more than not as he tried to run and
fire behind him. The viruses seemed reluctant to end the chase and all the more determined to destroy the
navi who had 'invaded' their territory.
Forte snorted softly to himself, his ruby gaze shifted from Rockman to the viruses, having already
ascertained their strengths and weaknesses long before they had given chase to the blue navi. He knew
they were weak, compared to his power and, if Rockman had been in contact with his operator then they
would have been weak against him as well.
He narrowed his eyes at the thought of a human-operated navi. He felt energy crackle about him as his
anger flared before he could finally calm his nerves as well as his thoughts. The last thing he wanted to do
was draw unneeded attention to himself.
When Forte saw Rockman stumble, his balance lost enough to fall, he hesitated as he floated in mid air
above them. The viruses shifted and charged their attacks for the kill. Rockman, the ebony navi noted, had
curled in on himself as if he awaited death instead of facing it like a true warrior. Forte knew there was no
way Rockman would survive the massed attack from the viruses, not so long as he had willed himself to surrender.
Before he could give it any though Forte's form flickered and reappeared between Rockman and the
viruses. He held up a hand as the combined attacks sped his way, a shield formed from his energy spread
out from his hand to encompass them both. Never once did he flinch when the shockwaves struck his
outstretched hand as the waves of energy washed around him.
Not even when he heard Rockman gasp, no doubt he had finally came to a realization who had just saved
his life, did Forte move. Only his eyes narrowed when he heard a soft cry from behind him and then the
sound of something as it scrambled backwards on the digital floor. Weak, Forte mused, why I should save
you is beyond me . . .
Yet something drove Forte to spare Rockman's life and he smirked though no one would see it, hidden
behind his cape, as he knew the fate about to befall the viruses that dared to attack. He gathered energy
around his hand, firing the violet ball of energy at the viruses. He watched as it expanded, a good third of
their numbers destroyed in one hit. He charged two more shots as he easily took care of the excess viruses.
When he turned to face Rockman, the small, blue navi tried to stand and run, only to fall back down again
with a soft cry. Slowly Forte approached Rockman, amused as he backed away as fast as he could from
the ebony navi while he shook his head no.
But Forte could close the distance faster than Rockman could backpedal and soon he was on top of his
enemy. Forte knelt as he studied Rockman for a moment, the fear in the other navis eyes tangible, almost
to the point Forte shivered imperceptibly from the raw emotions he could feel from Rockman. He shifted
his gaze to Rockman's leg then his foot as he reached out from under his cloak to rest his hands on
Rockman's ankle. He ran a scan on the other navi to check the extent of the damage to his data.
What Forte hadn't counted on was the fact that Rockman's emotions would be
tangible through the scan as it sifted through the carefully placed barriers the
ebony navi had around his soul. As he continued his scan, he could feel a mixture of emotions
as they swirled through him before he could bring them under control again.
Silently he cursed Rockman for having such an effect on his programming, that
the simple, weak navi before him could bring out emotions he never thought he
could feel again. "Your ankle,"
Forte said softly, slowly, as he tried to resume his normal, cold mask, "has
damaged data. It is not so badly damaged that you cannot repair it."
"I . . . I strained it when I fell," Rockman replied, a stammer in his voice, no doubt from fear.
Suddenly Forte looked up, eyes narrowed as he sensed a sudden surge of energy around them. He removed
his hand from Rockman's leg and turned sharply, which caused his cloak to billow around him. "It's too
dangerous here," he said, "more viruses approach."
"I can't fight them," Rockman said, "I can't even walk. And without Netto-kun . . . "
"Operators are useless," Forte hissed, "self reliance is the key."
"Not always," Rockman said.
Forte cut Rockman's words off as he quickly moved behind the blue navi, his
cloak seemed to flow around Rockman as if it formed a protective shield not only
for its owner but for the one he tended to as well. He teleported them to a
safer area, one he knew by heart, an area he had taken as his 'home' from time
to time. If such a thing could be called a home. This patch of the networks had
connection to the outside world but was not normally used where it was old and
away from the main area of traffic, yet it was still secure that Forte knew he
could lower his guard here and rest.
When Rockman began to struggle Forte held tight. Even though he knew Rockman could not go far on his
damaged ankle something he could not put a finger on kept his arms tightly around the other navi, still
protective even though the area was clear of danger. Only after he heard a whimper of fear did he let go of
Rockman and he moved back so the smaller navi could leave the confines of his cape if he so chose to.
And though his gaze was on Rockman he was unprepared for the blue navi's quick move. When he felt
fingertips brush over the jagged scar on his chest he hissed and pulled back, the movement quick and
sharp, a deep sense of pain filled his soul once more as dark memories threatened to resurface.
The sheer force of his emotions forced Forte to kneel where he was, a hand over his symbol, now hidden again by his cloak. His eyes
were still narrowed as he watched Rockman shrink back from the ebony navi in fear. Forte watched as
Rockman finally stopped, his buster flared to life as it aimed toward him,
though he made no move to defend himself. However, the blue navi's buster
soon wavered as if he couldn't keep a clear lock on the ebony navi even though
he was not that far away before he lowered it.
Forte rose only once he had calmed himself, the feelings shoved deep in the recesses of his mind once
again. He simply stood there as he regarded Rockman, a piece of him had to wonder what the blue navi
would do, whether he'd try to escape or fight. That was, if he could fight on a
damaged ankle. When Rockman merely sighed softly and banished his
buster to look around Forte began to lose interest. He started to turn away before a thought formed, words
coming forth before he could stop them. "You can heal here," Forte said, startled he would actually allow
Rockman to stay in his personal space.
"Thank you," Rockman said, "but without recovery chips, I can't do it on my own."
"You rely too much on your operator," Forte said as he turned, "independent navis are by far stronger."
"But I don't want to be independent," Rockman said, a hint of a whine in his voice.
Forte remained silent, as he just simply looked at Rockman, a barely audible snort at the immature whine.
He watched as Rockman shivered, arms wrapped about himself in a vain attempt at either warmth or
comfort. The ebony navi assumed it was the latter when Rockman seemed to try to make himself as
small as possible. It was then that Forte strode over, his steps so light he seemed to float along the ground
before he knelt, a hand once more on Rockman's injured leg and he ignored the look of shock from
the blue navi. He didn't even react when Rockman screamed suddenly as his leg was shifted, the twisted
data snapped easily back into place before he tapped into his own digital code to replace the lost data in
Rockman's leg with his own.
"No, stop," Rockman pleaded as he tried to pull his leg away.
"The damage needs to be repaired," Forte said simply.
"But . . . " Rockman started to protest, "I don't want to become infected."
"You are not infected," Forte snorted at Rockman's irrational logic, "I replaced the lost or too damaged
data with my own."
"How can you do that?" Rockman asked.
Forte looked up to Rockman. "Can't you?"
"N-no," Rockman stammered, "I can't."
Forte said not a word as he removed his hands, yet he didn't move back either. There was something about
Rockman, something more than his old programming that wanted to battle the blue navi to prove the other
was as weak as he seemed, a flawed program that needed to be taught a lesson. Something he couldn't
pinpoint and it frustrated, and flustered him, to no end.
"Thank you," Rockman said as he quickly rose to his feet.
Forte didn't move for a moment, only his gaze followed Rockman.
"I have to get back to Netto-kun," Rockman said into the silence, "he'll be worried about me."
"He will betray you," Forte said, "all operators betray their navi's trust after a while."
"Netto-kun would never do that!" Rockman said.
"Can you be so sure?" Forte asked.
"Netto wouldn't . . ." Rockman tried to protest, falling silent.
Forte rose and turned his back to Rockman. So naive, so innocent . . . Just as he had once been. When the
memories once more surfaced he clenched a fist, hidden by his cloak, digital muscles tensed as raw
emotions threatened to cloud his mind.
"So, um, why did you bring me here?" Rockman has to ask, "why didn't you just delete me on the spot?"
Forte blinked at that as he forced his emotions down. "Do you think I'm that barbaric?" he asked with a
snort, "I am not some simple, mindless navi or virus."
"Then . . . what are you?" Rockman asked.
"I am . . ." Forte said simply, unable to bring himself to tell Rockman the truth, "I exist, therefore I am."
"That's no answer," Rockman said.
"You don't understand anything so how could you surmise the answer?" Forte asked as he shifted a bit to
look at Rockman out of the corner of his eye, "how could one as immature as you are possibly know anything?"
"I'm not immature," Rockman shot back.
"You are young," Forte said as he turned away, "too bound to your operator. You know nothing of the real
world aside from what you have been programmed with or allowed to access. You are too naive to the real
world, too naive to the truth."
"What truth is that?" Rockman asked, "Netto-kun cares for me, takes good care of my program, loves me
like his brother."
"Does he?" Forte snapped, "does he really care for you that much?"
"O-of course he does," Rockman said, his voice shifted, a bit hesitant at that, "why wouldn't he?"
"If he cared for you he would be here for you now," Forte said, "so where is he, hm? Where is your
precious operator?"
"I can't get a signal out," Rockman said, "I can't let him know where I am."
Forte snorted. "Because you are not trying. This place is not shielded, not like the place you were nearly
deleted in. He could more than easily find you if he chose to . . . "
"No," Rockman said, "you're lying."
"Am I?" Forte asked, "am I really lying?"
Rockman fell silent and Forte smirked behind his cloak. Rockman was now confused and such emotions
could easily be used by another to mold someone into what they wanted them to be. "There is only one
truth," Forte said as his voice went soft, "a truth that we, navis, are alone. We always have been and
always will be. We can only rely on ourselves to be strong."
"I am strong, even without Netto-kun's help," Rockman tried to counter.
"Then why did I have to save you from the viruses?" Forte asked, "why couldn't you defeat them yourself?"
When Forte heard only silence he turned and walked back to where Rockman stood, his crimson gaze just
watched as the blue navi looked down. Ever so gently Forte tilted Rockman's chin up. When he saw the
unguarded look on Rockman's face, could see into his innocent soul, the pain, the hate, the betrayal the
ebony navi felt rose quickly to the surface, a tidal wave of emotions that threatened to flood his very soul.
"Fight me," Forte said suddenly, "if you are so strong without your operator, fight me. If you win I will
take you back to him. If you lose . . . then your fate will be mine."
"I don't want to fight you, Forte," Rockman said.
"Then don't fight back," Forte said as he let go of Rockman, his form flickered and he appeared a short
distance away, "and let my victory be an easy one." He fired on Rockman, no allowance for the other navi
to prepare himself. He easily dodged the shots from Rockman's buster where he knew that was the only
attack he could do without chips. Something he could only gain from his operator.
Forte chuckled as he continued to fire at Rockman with violet orbs of energy, not even really giving a care
if he hit Rockman or not. Even the close shots would do some damage and, though it would serve the
other navi a good lesson to be badly damaged as they battled, Forte could not force himself to deliver any
blow that would be fatal.
Once he tired of the game of cat and mouse, however, he brought his hands together and let the dark
energy coalesce into a sword which crackled with the same violet energy as his previous attacks. He
swung it with precision known only in two other navis who could handle a blade like that. It didn't take
long for him to damage Rockman's buster so he couldn't use it, the smaller navi now pinned to the floor
with the point of the blade through his shoulder in complete defeat, too winded to do much more than
moan in pain.
"Without an operator you are weak," Forte said, "not worth the challenge." He withdrew the blade,
banished it and stood to watch as Rockman shivered before he curled in on himself as soft whimpers
escaped him. Forte knelt and pushed Rockman flat on his back, one palm over the wound. He pressed
down hard, focused on his task and not on the weak protests he heard from Rockman. Even the hiss of
pain nor the convulsions the blue navi's body went through distracted him from his task as he began to
flood the wound with his own data to repair the damage. "I will give you time to rest," Forte said, "and to
finish healing. Do not think of escape. You would die before you tried."
Rockman hesitated, tears formed in his eyes as he barely nodded.
Forte moved back and let Rockman curl in on himself as soft sobs escaped him. He moved away and
found a place to sit as he watched Rockman eventually cry himself, or so he supposed, into a sleep cycle.
Never once did he move, not until he noticed the faint shivers while Rockman slept. He rose and
eventually walked over as he removed his cloak to lay it over the blue navi's body. He waited, satisfied
when the shivers seemed to stop. He returned to his seat as he watched and waited for Rockman to wake.
Eventually Rockman woke, or so Forte supposed by the slight shift he noticed under his cloak. Rockman
sat up and rubbed at his eyes, a confused look at the cloak now in his lap.
"You seemed troubled," Forte's said from where he sat, "and when I gave you my cloak you seemed to calm."
"Th-thanks," Rockman said, the cloak kept tight around him.
When Rockman's curious gaze landed on the ebony navi, Forte knew what
Rockman was looking at. It was the only thing that really stood out about him. "This is why I no longer
trust operators," he said as he put a hand to his symbol.
"Your operator turned on you?" Rockman asked, a hint of confusion in his voice.
"I was designed to test security systems," Forte said as he closed his eyes for a brief moment and made a
swift decision to let Rockman know his true past, "I was the strongest navi alive, the only one capable of
truly being able to break into security systems to prove their flaws so they could be fixed."
When Rockman simply nodded Forte took that as a sign to continue. "However others began to fear my
power," he said, "they began to view me as a threat instead of what I was intended to be. They blamed me
for the deaths of the security navis, all of whom would have been destroyed easily by a true navi or virus
attack, weak as they were."
"But it wasn't your fault," Rockman said before he bit his lower lip.
"My operator," Forte continued, as he ignored Rockman right now, "conspired with other top scientists. I
would be sent on a last mission, set up, betrayed by the very human I had come to trust . . . to love as a
father . . . They would attack me at once, three specially designed navis, delete me on the spot. He was too
spineless to kill me himself . . ."
"Forte," Rockman said, voice soft.
Forte shook his head, a slight growl in his voice as he spoke next. "They pounced when I was unprepared,
had lowered my guard thinking my 'job' was done. One got a lucky hit in, nearly deleting me . . . " His grip
on his symbol tightened a bit as the memories flooded into his soul again. "But I escaped and managed to
recover elsewhere. I knew there was nowhere I could go that he wouldn't try to delete me. I knew the
'reputation' he had created from snippets of news I came across so that no one would trust me, that I
would be considered a 'threat' to others, to be deleted on the spot. It was then I decided to hide the pain I
felt, the shame I had at being betrayed. I knew then and there I would forever be an independent navi,
struggling to be the best, the most superior navi of all time. I would crush them, crush him
for what he did to me. Because of his betrayal I would never trust another human again!"
"Forte," Rockman said, his words accompanied by a soft rustle of fabric and a slight shift against the
digital floor, "I-I'm sorry."
"Sorrow won't change what happened," Forte said as he opened his eyes to look at Rockman as the blue
navi stood now, the cloak gathered before him. Forte could barely contain the pain he felt in his soul
and it was reflected in his gaze whether he wanted it to or not. "It won't take away my scars . . ."
"I'm still sorry," Rockman said before he bit down on his lip again as he walked over to where Forte was.
Forte was silent for a moment before he rose from his seat, a wry smile graced the corner of one lip at the
irony of it all. "I was like you once," he said, "innocent, naive . . . young . . . but no more. I feel no
emotion inside except for hate, no kindness, no love, no warmth . . . nothing . . . And soon that's the way
you'll be when your own operator betrays you."
"Netto-kun will never betray me," Rockman said softly as he reached out to gently touch Forte's cheek,
"and . . . I'll never betray you, either."
Forte seemed just as shocked as Rockman appeared to be at the words and he shifted to look directly into
Rockman's eyes for some sign of a trick. His ruby gaze pierced emerald green as
he tried to find the hatred he knew
other navis always felt for him. Rockman shivered and the ebony navi could feel something change inside
of the navi before him, almost in echo to what he could feel start to stir deep inside of his own digital soul. Something he
had never felt since his betrayal. Something he never thought he could feel again. "I know you will never
betray me," Forte finally said, voice soft, "you are too innocent about what betrayal is. But even you will
hurt me in the end . . . Your operator and those orders he follows will force you to fight me again and
again, to the death . . . No matter what you think you will betray me."
"Forte, no," Rockman started to protest before falling silent.
Forte reached up and brushed Rockman's tears away when they started to form, a
sad smile on his face. "I give you your freedom," he said, "knowing what you do,
bound to follow your orders, will be punishment enough for losing to me. You
will know the truth but be unable to tell anyone for no one would
believe you. You will fight me knowing you fight an innocent navi. Forever destined to try and destroy that which
is innocent . . ."
Rockman shook his head. "I won't fight you again," he said, "now that I know the truth."
"They will make you," Forte said, "if you refuse they'll just reprogram you so you will fight me. No.
This is for the best."
"But . . . " Rockman said before he fell silent.
"Go," Forte said as he reached out and took his cloak back, "go back to your operator."
"No," Rockman said, "I won't."
Forte tilted his head a bit to the side, curious at this newfound sense of strength that came from Rockman.
"So you are going to abandon your operator just because of what I said?"
"I'm going back, just . . . not now," Rockman said.
Forte chuckled softly. This was something he had not expected to see in Rockman. He knew the other
navi was weak, trusted others too much, overly eager to help, but he hadn't expected him to stay even at
the possible risk to his life.
"I want to help you," Rockman said into the silence.
"I'm beyond help," Forte said simply, "you yourself should know that."
"But I want to," Rockman said, "I . . . I want to heal your pain."
"And how do you think you will do that?" Forte asked as he quirked a brow, intrigued by what Rockman
might have in mind.
"I . . .I don't know," Rockman said as he looked down and closed his eyes.
When Forte saw the tears start to fall he closed the gap so his cloak was sandwiched between their bodies.
He did not know where the words came from but he did not fight them. He allowed them to fill him with a
warmth he had not felt in a long time, words he never thought he would ever utter in his entire, miserable
existence. "Give me your soul," he said, "even just once, let me feel again."
As Rockman nodded, Forte tilted Rockman's chin up and kissed him almost wantonly as vague emotions
began to stir in his soul, a soul he had gave up for lost. The feelings increased when Rockman awkwardly
kissed back, arms now wound around Forte.
Not even when Forte slid his hands down to cup Rockman's rear did the blue navi flinch, a slight shiver
the only response the ebony navi received that Rockman felt something. But whether that was the same
needy emotion Forte felt or from fear he did not know. In order to find the truth, Forte gave Rockman's ass
another firm squeeze, startled when he heard a soft moan escape the blue navi. His questions had now
been answered.
"I want you," Forte murmured against Rockman's lips as harsh shivers coursed through the blue navi, "I
want to feel you. I want to feel."
Rockman nodded and Forte felt suddenly bereft of contact as the blue navi stood back just a bit so he
could remove his scant armor and body suit, his cheeks flushed deeply. No doubt,
Forte mused, from both embarrassment as well as from the emotions that had to
swirl inside of the small, blue navi if he judged Rockman's slight erection
correctly. Forte knew he felt strong
emotions deep inside of him, an attraction to Rockman he had never noticed through his loneliness and
pain he had always felt. Maybe that had been the real reason he had fought Rockman? Not because he
truly wanted to see who was the strongest but because his pain refused to yield to the connection he had
felt to the blue navi. It wasn't the lure of the Rockman's Ultimate Program or
proof that he was really weaker than Forte that had drawn him in, but
attachments and needs he had forgotten he could have felt.
A bit belatedly Forte did the same, something he never thought he would ever do. He bared himself
completely to Rockman, no sense of remorse over the numerous scars on his body, wounds of which some
he had been forced to heal as much as they could, especially the one on his chest.
Once they were both bare, Rockman moved over and ran his fingers gently over Forte's scar, a frown on
his face.
Forte didn't flinch back as he normally would have. Instead he stood still and let Rockman touch his old,
half-healed wounds.
Rockman looked up, his whole face seemed as if he was truly young and naive not a battle-hardened warrior.
"I will live with my scars, with my pain," Forte said, "you need not worry about me."
Rockman nodded before he pressed closer. Forte could have sworn that the smaller navi's body felt red hot
against his digital skin. Even the gentle caress to his back sent a warmth that coursed through his icy veins
and core.
"Do you trust me?" Forte asked suddenly as he looked Rockman right in the eyes, "do you trust me not to
hurt you?"
Rockman nodded as if without a second thought.
"Then let me please you," Forte said as he kissed Rockman with a fiery passion. He reached down to
gently touch the blue navi.
Rockman gasped at the touch, hips pressed against Forte's hand as his body shivered. He couldn't stop the
moans, muffled by the harsh, almost feral kiss, the contrast only making his body feel hotter and hotter
against Forte.
When Forte felt Rockman's legs begin to shake, almost as if they wanted to give
out, he gently guided the blue navi down to his discarded cloak. Rockman reached out and gently touched Forte's arm
a sad smile on his face that seemed to echo the one Forte now wore.
"It's nothing," Forte said before he leaned over Rockman, touch gentle as he stroked him. At
the same time he teased the blue navi's chest with his lips and tongue, every so often with sharp nips.
Rockman cried out more than once, especially at the nips and at one point he begged for more which made
Forte even more aroused.
"In due time," Forte said as he looked up at Rockman, "I want you to be pleased as many times by me as
your body can handle."
"I-I've never done this before," Rockman said as his voice shook.
Forte chuckled softly. "Then maybe I shouldn't torture your body too many times . . ."
Rockman's eyes went a bit wide at that.
However, Forte shifted down, the look Rockman had given him lost on the ebony navi as he sucked on his treat,
a finger pressed firmly against the smaller navi's opening. When he heard an almost frightened sound
come from Rockman he placed a soft kiss to the blue navi's tip. "Relax," Forte murmured as he looked up
at Rockman, "if you don't then this is going to hurt more than it should."
Rockman nodded and he visibly forced himself to relax, unable to hold back a whimper and wince when
Forte finally added a second and a third finger. Forte could feel Rockman's shivers and hear his moans as
he was stretched. Rockman almost whimpered when he felt Forte remove his fingers, a desperate look on
his face as he silently begged Forte to continue.
"I will," Forte said as he knelt between Rockman's spread legs and shifted the blue navi's hips up, "I will
fill you completely."
With Rockman's nod, Forte pressed ahead as he let himself fill Rockman. When the smaller navi
whimpered and tensed Forte whispered to him. When Rockman seemed to blank out Forte gently stroked
him to get his mind off of the pain and onto the pleasure he would soon feel. When Rockman nodded
again Forte could feel him relax around the ebony navi, his whimpers soon became moans as Forte
began to move
inside of him.
He kept a hand on Rockman as he stroked him in time with each thrust. Even the harsh kiss he pressed
against Rockman's lips barely muffled both of their moans, especially the sharp moans from Rockman
when Forte hit something deep inside of the blue navi that sent sharp shivers of pleasure through his body.
Forte felt Rockman's body tense every so often and he broke the kiss. "Let it go," Forte whispered, "let it
all go. For me . . . please . . ."
That seemed to be all it took for Rockman to scream Forte's name as the ebony navi felt the slender body
beneath him arch hard off the ground, harsh shivers with each of Forte's deep thrusts. Only when he
moaned deeply, his body filled with an almost painful shudder, Forte found his release deep inside of
Rockman as he filled the blue navi with his love.
He nearly collapsed on top of Rockman, breaths harsh, his face buried deep in the other navi's shoulder.
Unconsciously, Forte smiled as Rockman reached up to wrap his arms tighter around him, the smile
genuine and almost pure. "Thank you," Forte said, voice a bare whisper.
Rockman only smiled as he began to caress Forte's back before he closed his eyes slowly while he calmed
his breathing down and at that, Forte reached up to caress the blue navi's cheek. The movement
incidentally pressed his chest closer to Rockman's. Suddenly, and without any warning, Forte felt a sharp
pain lance through where his symbol would have been, the scar he bore seemed to sear right through him.
When his body jerked in pain, Rockman only tightened his hold. He dimly heard Rockman whisper not to
be afraid and to let him help heal his body.
The light increased and flooded the area with a blinding radiance. When it faded
Rockman smiled, his eyes slowly opened as he leaned up to give Forte a gentle kiss, an amused look at the
confusion in the other navi's face. Forte pulled back and out of Rockman, a hand to his chest and a
confused look on his face as he gazed down at the smaller navi. He had no idea what Rockman had just
done to him but definitely it wasn't what he had expected. The scar he had always bore no longer could be felt.
"Forte . . . I love you," Rockman said as he reached out to take Forte's hand, their fingers now twined
together before he let go to run them along the now scarless chest of the ebony navi.
Forte blinked before tears came into his eyes. "Rockman . . . I . . . "
"Don't say it," Rockman said, "you don't have to say anything. I know you don't love me but that doesn't
change the way I feel."
"You didn't have to heal me," Forte said, "especially not after what I have done to you."
"I did," Rockman said, "I wanted to heal you. You wanted to feel again and I wanted you to live . . ."
Forte nodded and leaned ahead to capture Rockman in another fierce kiss.
This time, however, Rockman matched it as he drew Forte close. He even reached up to wipe away the
tears that had begun to fall from Forte's closed eyes as he let the ebony navi get the pain of his betrayal out
of his soul and into one who could forgive anything. Rockman, why? he thought, why you of all navis?
Why do you have to be so caring? Especially for someone like me? Eventually fatigue, or maybe
something else, overtook Forte and he passed out in Rockman's arms, his data shifted even as he slipped
into a sleep cycle.
When Forte awoke he felt different, changed, almost as if Rockman had actually healed all of his internal
pain, his raw soul. He shifted, eyes snapped open at the warmth at his side, an unusual, but not unwelcome
sensation. When he saw Rockman still there, fast asleep, he smiled a genuine smile, one he had never
displayed since his creator and operator had betrayed him.
"Thank you," he whispered as he placed a gentle kiss to Rockman's forehead, "thank you for more than I
could have dreamed of."
Rockman shifted a bit, a gentle smile on his face and Forte had to wonder if he had heard him.
Forte fell silent as he watched Rockman sleep, more thankful for what he had done, but also worried.
Without the pain, without the bitterness he knew his edge would be gone. He knew the tactics he had used
to survive, not only in the Undernet, but from those who might still be after him, would be changed,
affected by the soul Rockman had brought out in him. He knew, no matter what, he could never go back,
could never live a normal life no matter what Rockman might try to suggest once he woke. Forte knew he
could never live a true life again even if Rockman had given him back his soul.
I love you, Rockman, Forte whispered in his soul, I'll always love you, no matter what. Even when you
return to your operator and I remain here, my love for you will never fade.
As if he sensed his words Rockman frowned, brows knitted tightly.
Forte just gave Rockman's forehead a soft kiss before he sighed softly. He tried to concentrate on the here
and now and how happy he felt to have the smaller navi at his side.
Eventually Rockman roused and he blinked sleepily up at Forte before he snuggled closer to nuzzle the
ebony navi's shoulder.
Forte didn't want to break the mood but he knew he had to. Eventually Rockman would need to return to
his operator and life would go on as usual. Forte would be alone to wander the nets, constantly to search
out sources of energy and avoid those who would want to end his existence. To keep Rockman safe he
knew the other navi would have to leave. There would be no way he could keep both of them safe.
When Rockman stretched with a soft, pleased sound, Forte had to smile, the act more and more natural to him.
"I like it when you smile," Rockman said.
"It . . . feels strange still," Forte had to admit.
"You'll learn to accept it eventually," Rockman said before he gave Forte a gentle kiss.
Forte smiled into the kiss as he gently caressed Rockman's back. When Rockman pressed closer to Forte
the ebony navi had to chuckle. "So, you want more, hm? Once just wasn't enough?"
Rockman blushed deeply which made himself look all the more delectable to Forte.
"Then let's see what I can do to help you?" Forte said more than asked as he shifted and kissed his way
down Rockman's chest, only to pause to tease his nipples with his teeth and tongue. With each and every
mewl from Rockman, Forte could feel himself grow harder and harder.
"Patience," Forte said before he gave Rockman a sharp nip, a breathy moan as he sucked on the bitten
nipple. Not one to let Rockman to feel neglected in other areas he slid a hand down and firmly stroked the
blue navi to get him as worked up as he could without pushing him over the edge. Not that to discern how
many times Rockman could orgasm before he passed out might be a fun game to play he knew this wasn't
the place to do it. It was bad enough he had passed out from crying without moving them to a really secure
location, but to leave them so vulnerable would be a death warrant.
When he knew Rockman was ready Forte lifted the smaller navi's hips and slid into him, his lover still
tight but not unbearably so, not like he had been the first time. Forte had to chuckle inwardly at the
thought of Rockman being his lover. So ironic it was it almost hurt.
Rockman was already a mass of mewls as he writhed beneath him, soft, breathy begs for more but not
quite. Forte captured Rockman in a fierce kiss, any and all words from his lover silenced, his own moans
deep at the feelings the smaller navi brought out in him. He felt his body tense, almost in echo of
Rockman's own contraction around him. He bit down on Rockman's tongue slightly harder than he
intended as his body began to spasm, his release deep inside of Rockman. He didn't stop, not until
Rockman screamed and he could feel the heat of his lover's release splatter against him.
Breathing hard, Forte leaned ahead and kissed Rockman deeply. He suckled on the
bit of data that he had freed when he had accidentally bit down on Rockman's tongue, his gaze apologetic. He only broke the kiss
when Rockman backed off, completely breathless, his gaze content and sated.
Rockman started to speak then tensed as he looked off to the side.
Forte felt it as well and cursed as he pulled out of Rockman and willed his body suit and cloak back on.
He noted that Rockman had rose, legs a bit shaky as he willed his own body suit and armor on.
"We lingered too long," Forte said, "they've found us."
"What are we going to do?" Rockman asked.
Though it pained him to say this, Forte glanced over to Rockman before he looked back in the direction of
the signals as they drew quickly toward them. "You are going back to your operator," he said, "and forget
about me."
"Forte, no," Rockman said.
When Forte felt Rockman touch his arm he shied away. "I don't want to watch you die just because of
me," he said, "you have a lot to live for."
"And you don't?" Rockman asked, pain in his voice, "so I really didn't matter to you except as some cheap
sex toy, is that right? Your 'punishment' for me losing to you?"
Forte closed his eyes and looked away. "No," he said softly, "I love you, strange as it seems, I do love you,
deeply."
"Then come with me," Rockman said.
"They'll delete me," Forte said simply.
"And if you stay . . . " Rockman began then fell silent.
"Then that is my fate," Forte said, "but not yours. Now go, before it's too late. I'll lead them away from you
to give you some time."
When he felt Rockman hug him Forte shifted and hugged Rockman back. "Never forget me," he said,
voice soft, "never forget what we shared. I love you, Rockman."
"I love you too, Forte," Rockman said around his tears.
Forte smiled sadly, the emotion hidden behind his cloak. Knowing he had to move and quickly,
he
teleported away from Rockman before he darted as fast as he could toward the navis to draw their
attention toward him and away from Rockman. Forte hoped the blue navi would be smart and go back to his
operator and not pull some stupid stunt to assist him in his fight against fate.
He tried to push Rockman out of his mind so he could concentrate on the battle at hand, though he found
it hard to do now. Forte growled softly as he readied himself, violet orbs of energy launched toward the
navis who rushed him, eyes going slightly wide as they easily avoided his attack before they released
various attacks of their own.
Forte growled as he quickly teleported and fired on the back of one of the navis, watching as his shot
struck true. With one arm and most of the navis side destroyed it was forced to log out. Now down to two,
Forte scanned the area as he tried to find them before they found him.
When he sensed a signal right behind him he shifted, the point of a sword pierced his cloak, body missed
by bare inches. No doubt where Rockman had healed his heart and soul his reaction would be slow since
other emotions now coursed through him. He knew he was doomed when he felt high-powered shots
strike his body. He had lost his edge and would now pay for his life.
"Forte!"
At the scream of his name, Forte looked up through the haze of pain. "Rockman, get out of here. You're
no match for them."
"I'm not going to leave you," Rockman said as his buster shifted and he spread his arms,
two different swords appeared in place of his normal hands or buster. The start
of a
program advance.
So Netto is helping you . . . Forte mused as he teleported, forced to his knees from the pain, maybe you do
stand a chance after all . . . He watched Rockman fight as he regained his strength slowly, watched as
Rockman took down one navi with a Beta Sword. Which meant there was one left, somewhere.
Forte sensed it first, a streak of energy that headed toward Rockman. He willed his strength and darted
forward to grab Rockman tightly around the waist. He twisted them so the shot struck his own back instead of Rockman.
"Forte!" Rockman said, eyes wide with fear as tears started to form.
"You have one more . . . navi to defeat," Forte said, voice strained with pain, "do it for me."
Rockman nodded before he kissed Forte. He broke the kiss only to turn to search out the other navi.
However, before anyone could move further, Forte felt himself recalled into a PET, something he had not felt for
a long, long time. He blinked even as he sunk to the ground, his data badly damaged now.
"I don't know how, and I don't know why," Forte heard a young boy's voice say, "but thanks for saving Rockman."
"It was the least I could do," Forte said, voice growing fainter, "for one who saved me."
"Just hang in there," the boy said, "I'm going to see if I can repair the damage they did to you. I owe you
for protecting him."
Forte nodded. "If you can. My programming is so advanced . . . " He fell silent as a soft shudder of pain
ran through him. However, before he could speak again he found himself in slender arms. He smiled weakly and shifted painfully to hold Rockman close. "I love
you so much," he whispered.
"I-I love you too," Rockman said as tears fell down his cheeks.
Forte smiled before a grimace formed, his body tensed at the pain from a sudden rush of energy. Recovery
chips.
"It's not much but hopefully it'll repair most of the damage," the boy said, "I mean, your program is so
different I don't dare use Rockman's repair program."
Forte shifted his gaze to look out the PET's window so he could nod his thanks. "You must be Netto,
Rockman's operator. I am forever grateful for this."
"Papa's going to have a fit that I let you into Rockman's PET," Netto said, "but when I saw what you did I
felt like I had to save you as well as Rockman."
"I won't stay," Forte said, "and cause trouble for you. My reputation . . . far proceeds me."
"Rockman couldn't tell me much but he did say you had been betrayed," Netto said.
Forte nodded. "It is a long story," he said, "one that no one else would believe."
"Rockman believed you," Netto said, "or he wouldn't have convinced me to help him save you."
Forte nodded again. "If you have the time I can tell you," he said, "then I will
leave so you will not get in trouble for harboring a very dangerous navi." He
looked at Rockman when he heard a soft noise of protest from the small navi. "If things could be different," he said softly, "I would stay with you, but you know I
can't."
"They might send more navis after you," Rockman said, fear in his voice.
"Then I will just have to fight them," Forte said.
Rockman nodded though he did not seem pleased by this.
"Stay as long as you want," Netto said, "papa doesn't have to know about this."
"You are too kind," Forte said as he settled down in the PET. He removed his cloak and set it aside before
his helmet followed suit to rest on top of his cloak. "My story goes back many, many years," he said, "I
was built to test security systems, to find their flaws and weaknesses. My operator was a very kind and
loving man - who was also my creator. However, people began to fear my power and he conspired with
them to have me deleted. Rockman healed the scar on my chest, the one that they gave me that nearly
severed my symbol in two. It was then I realized that I could trust no one but myself, that operators were
only meant to betray the trust . . . and love that a navi could give them. That is, until Rockman helped
open my eyes and let me see that was not the case. At least not for all of them."
Netto frowned at that. "But what about all the other navis you've deleted since?"
"Self defense," Forte said, "I do not kill for the pleasure of it."
Netto nodded. "Just rest. I'll check on you later to see how your recovery is going. I'm sure Rockman'll
take good care of you."
Rockman blushed deeply, more so when Forte kissed him. Especially since Forte
had done it in plain sight of Netto.
"I, ah, see . . . " Netto said.
Forte chuckled as he broke the kiss, Rockman held protectively close even though there was no danger in
his PET. "He will be safe with me. I promise you that."
"It's ok, Netto-kun," Rockman said, "I was the one who agreed to this."
"I'm glad you're happy," Netto said, "and hopefully you can stay happy for a long, long time."
Forte nodded and kissed Rockman again. He watched out of the corner of his eye as Rockman brought up
a window and dimmed the lights in the PET. "Setting the mood, are we?"
"Giving us some privacy," Rockman said, "I know Netto-kun will understand."
"I'm not strong enough for that, if that's what's on your mind," Forte said, "but when I am stronger I will
make you mine as many times as you want."
He watched as Rockman blushed deeply, suddenly shy again.
Forte just gathered Rockman against him as he closed his eyes and rested. Recovery, he knew, would take
a while even if his heart and soul felt lighter than it had in a long time. Even though he knew his life was
still in danger, and Rockman's as well now, he knew it had been saved by a small, blue navi, one he was
proud to call his lover and no longer his enemy.
