is bleak though, there is hope. One such example is Commissar Ciaphas Cain Hero of the Imperium!

Historical paintings of some events show Cain a tall muscle bound man with a bolter, and chain sword standing on a hillock in the middle of a sea of godless creatures. Protecting innocent humans reaching up to him for help. His praises are sung right up next to the Emperor of Man . He is so revered, that heretical cults have formed to honor him. Some secretly believed he is the Emperor himself who has come back. Course, that is heretical thinking ,so it isn’t spoken out loud. No, the truth is Cain was an average man of stature, and never sought glory. His bad luck was the Imperium’s good luck.

My fellow Inquisitors,

As you know I, Inquisitor Amberly Vail have obtained Commissar Ciaphas Cain’s personal journal. Most of the information inside it must be kept secret for the Empire’s well being. I can however supply to you some information that is less sensitive. There is notes at the end of this report.

Report #01,
The city was like any other in the Imperium. Office buildings, habitats, parks, and roads. What was different about this one was the Ork warband invading it. Cain, being a hero to everyone. Suggested he should go to make sure the defensive positions were secure. In fact, he was trying to make sure he was close enough to an evacuation shuttle just in case. Cain though a hero, sees the big picture. Dying in a losing battle on some backwater world didn‘t sit well with him. Course, the God Emperor always did have a sense of humor.

Walking through what might have been the financial district of the city. Cain, and his ever faithful man servant Jurgen was traveling with a platoon of imperial soldiers. Jurgen served two purposes. One, his bad hygiene kept annoying people away from Cain. Two, he was a blank psyker. His ability can neutralize other psykers' warp powers that can be used for witchcraft. Cain heard a badly tuned engine coming towards them. An Ork scout on a war buggie spotted the soldiers thinking they were a local planet defense force on patrol. He bore down on them with his oversize three wheel motorcycle trike. A small gretchin on the back was holding on for dear life. It pointed a crude looking rocket launcher at the soldiers, and fired. Unfortunately, the missile didn’t explode taking the owner with it. Fortunately the Imperial soldiers were trained enough not to stand around. They threw themselves down to the side of the street till impact. After the explosion the soldiers sought cover, and returned fire. There were some that weren’t so lucky. Shell shocked, and dazed, the soldiers didn’t have sense enough to save themselves. The Ork seen easy pickings, and pulled a rusty vicious looking chain sword up from his side. He drove through the soldiers with a swish, swish cleaving them in half. The Ork then drove down the street just far enough to turn around. The surviving soldiers lasguns didn’t seem to have much effect on the enraged Ork.

Like a bull seeing red. The ork’s eyes locked on Cain’s Commissar sash around his waist. The Ork thinking he seen the enemies’ leader bellowed, and bored down on him. To Cain taking on an enraged Ork on a war buggie with just a bolter, and chain sword wasn’t a good idea. So seeing a glass door of the building behind him . Cain used his chain sword to bust it down, and slip inside. The front lobby of the building was sparse, and didn’t provide much cover. Cain expected the Ork to drive up on him any second. Then he heard the platoon’s heavy weapon going off. This distracted the Ork enough to break off pursuit of Cain. The weapon was stitching rounds through the air. Some of those rounds shot past Cain making him duck down.
“Quit shooting at me you idiots,” yelled Cain. After getting up from the ground brushing himself off. Cain noticed a door off it’s hinges close by. Beyond the door frame was a hallway with a different decorating style than an office building. Pleasing colors, and sexy art work were lining it. It looked more like a entrance to a bordello. Cain’s hands started to itch. This happens when there could be trouble. Cain didn’t want to hang around the lobby either for the Ork to come back. He’ll let the soldiers do their job while looking for a back exit just in case. Going down the hall Cain hoped the Emperor didn’t deliver him into more problems.

Side note: Empire bordellos were either government sanctioned, or illegal depending on the planet. Most are a breeding grounds for the cult of the Chaos god Slaanesh. A god of pleasure that can never be satisfied. New, and dangerous ways of getting sensation is how the cult worships. Sometimes the cultist will include someone innocent, and unwilling into their dark rituals. That’s why the Empire tries to stamp out this scourge. Only high ranking government officials know about the true powers of chaos. Anyone below simply disappears. Most are put to work for the inquisitors like Cain.

Cain reached the end of the hallway, and pushed open double red padded doors. There was a room full of beautiful women to his surprise. Most civilians had made their way to an Imperial shelter at the beginning of the Ork invasion. These women for some reason decided to stay behind. There was a young dark hair girl sitting cross legged, and barefoot on a red high raised dais in the center of the room. She looked on the verge of leaving her teens, and entering adulthood. Her skin was like white porcelain. It made her transparent harem style clothing look florescent. Nine other women of lesser beauty also surrounded her, and were sitting on pillows. The room was similarly decorated as the hallway with a sweet pleasant scent in the air. With bright red lips that enchanted Cain. The girl said,” It is time sisters. The enemy is here.” Cain who was under her spell thought, 'Enemy where?' To his horror all the women pulled out a knife, and slashed their bellies. “ NO!”, yelled Cain seeing the dark haired girl’s perfect skin being ruined. A quick secession of blood splattered her from the other women. Cain stood shocked. Watching as the body fluids of the other women reached out, and combined with the girl in the center. Her shape started to swell almost as if to bust. The other women were turned into husks after the last of the fluid was absorbed. There was now a large bulbous mound of flesh where the dark hair girl was.

Sinew tentacles shot out of the flesh like lighting. They grabbed Cain’s arms, and legs keeping him immobile. The tentacles pulled him closer to the blob. A woman’s outline started to form through the skin. A head, and chest was poking through. Eyes, nose, mouth, and tits came next. The creature looked at Cain, and said, “ Well, well, look who we have here.” ” You know me demon!?,” asked Cain. “ I know of you from my brothers, and sisters in the warp. It seems you been causing them a lot of trouble.” The demon brought Cain level with it’s face. “ You are very handsome. Instead of all this fighting. Why don’t you submit to Slaanesh? I promise to make it very enjoyable for you.” “ Never,” said Cain. “ What a pity you should say that. It’s much better voluntarily. I’ll just need to open your eyes. Once I flay your skin off. You’ll be thanking Slaanesh for giving you such lovely sensation.” The demon’s mouth started to drool at the thought. Boney looking protrusions came out of demon next. Each sharp as a razor’s edge. They cut off Cain’s clothes within an instant.
While Cain was being held aloft naked in the air. The demon had an approving look on it’s face. “ My dear Cain, the god Emperor sure has blessed you.” More protrusions, that could be best descried as tongues came out of the blob next. The demon was so distracted with it’s plaything. It didn’t notice Jurgen walking close to it. Now due to Jurgen’s neutral affect on the warp. The demon was losing control of it’s form. The blob eventually busted like a ruptured balloon full of water. Gore went everywhere pushing pillows, and debris away. As before In the center of the room was the dark hair girl. She was healed from her injury. Looking younger, naked, and wet. The demon had used the last of it’s powers to recreate it’s chosen vessel. The girl’s eyes got big looking at Jurgen. She was about to flee when Cain grabbed her by the wet hair. Not knowing who was controlling the body. The girl, or demon. Notes: We have almost stamped out the Cain cults. Cain kept Jurgen’s ability secret from me for years. I could have used him on missions. The Cinderella reference was an old earth religious fable.
