  hey everyone this is my first phoenix wright story. Please be gentle.

  Chapter 1
   
              The doors of the courthouse opened up to show Phoenix Wright walking in with Miles Edgeworth by his side. 
  As they made their way towards the courtroom, Phoenix started to think to himself.  ‘It wasn’t supposed to be like this.  I was supposed to be fighting for custody of a child that is not biologically mine.  I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with my former rival.’ As he thought, Phoenix looked over at Miles who turned his head flashing him the hint of a smile.  A smile slowly moved over the defense attorney’s face as his hand slid to grasp the prosecutor’s.  ‘How did all this happen?’ he thought as he looked up at the little girl standing with Detective Gumshoe by the courtroom.  Her blue silver hair was pulled into two pigtails showing her angelic face that made even the hardest man melt. 
  A glowing smile split onto the girls face before letting go of Gumshoe’s hand and bolting for Phoenix and Miles.  “Daddy! Papa!” she cried as Phoenix knelt to catch the little girl.  Phoenix stood up holding the girl close as Miles ran a hand over the girl’s back. 
  “How are you doing darling?”  Miles asked as the girl looked at Miles smiling softly. 
  “I’m good I missed you and Papa.  When can I come home?”  She asked as Miles smiled sadly. 
  “Once we have straightened all of this out.  I promise.”  He said as she pouted slightly laying her head on Phoenix’s shoulder. 
  “Ok…” She whispered as Gumshoe walked over. 
  “I need to take her to her seat.  You two better get in there.  Franziska is ready to go.”  He said as both of them nodded slightly. 
  Phoenix looked down at the girl kissing her head.  “Ok sweetie we have to go but Gumshoe will take care of you.”  The girl looked up then sadly nodded.  She kissed Phoenix’s cheek then leaned over planting one on Miles before reaching for Gumshoe. 
  The detective smiled gently holding the girl.  “Go in there and fight hard guys.”  He said as Phoenix smiles. 
  “No need to worry about that.  Be good sweetie.”  Phoenix said as the girl nodded with a sad smile.  Gumshoe turned and walked into the courtroom leaving Miles and Phoenix alone.  Phoenix turned to Miles and gently took his hand, giving it a squeeze.  Miles looked over, his eyes showing how scared he was.  Only around Phoenix did Miles show his true emotions and that was only through his eyes.  “We won’t lose Miles.  I swear.  We will get out baby back and there is no one who can tell us other wise.”  Phoenix whispered placing a soft kiss to the corner of Miles’s lips. 
  Miles accepted the kiss then rested his forehead to Phoenix’s closing his eyes.  “She is ruthless Nick… you and I both know that.  She will be worse than Manfreed to get her child back.”
  Phoenix turned and pulled the slightly shorter man close.  “Listen to me Edgeworth, Franziska can try what ever act of trickery she wants.  We have the truth behind us.  If we don’t lose faith, we can win this.  Miles… Do you trust me?”  Phoenix asked smiling as Miles gave a watery laugh at the memory Phoenix brought up. 
  “With my whole being.”  He whispered before kissing Phoenix soundly. 
  After a moment a bailiff came out.  “You’re needed now.”  Phoenix sighed and led Miles into the courtroom. 
  Unknowing to everyone, one person was left standing outside the courtroom.  Slowly this person revealed herself to be Mia Fey.  She watched the two walk with a sad face.  She turned and gasped softly.  “Oh hello… you must be someone who is confused.  Well don’t worry I will try to explain.  I am Mia Fey.  Defense Attorney.  As you can see I am no longer alive but I appear from time to time.  Mostly to help my protégé, Phoenix Wright, he’s the one in the blue.  Right now he is in for the trial of his life.”  She stopped then giggled.  “Oops you’re coming in at the middle of the story.  Well why don’t I fill you in on what you have missed.  I promise you will understand in the end.”
