AN: This fic is sort of like a continuation to “Road to Damnation”, the short story about Kel’thuzad which describes how he came to be in the service of the Lich King originally as a human. If you’ve not read it or aren’t familiar with the story I suggest searching for that online and reading it first. :)

Curse of the Damned

Kel’thuzad stared up at the seemingly bewitched armour set before him. His entire body felt like it could barely move, so worn out was he from the ascent up to this point. The icy voice again boomed inside his mind.

“If you truly are a wise man, you will obey my instructions, for now all you ever were, and ever will be, is mine.”

The mage shut his eyes tightly as the words of this entity washed over him. He tried to process everything that was happening. His body and mind were completely exhausted from his journey, now even more so from the painful trek up to the throne before him. He absently became aware of his bloodied knees and hands, injuries sustained from being forced to crawl up the icy rock when he was too tired to go on walking. He looked up to the throne once more, his eyes weary.

“Anything you ask of me, master, I will do,” he barely managed.
“Then, there is a test for you, my servant,” the voice again said in his mind. “In order to demonstrate your loyalty to me, you must show me the extent to which you will allow yourself to be punished.”

Kel’thuzad’s eyes stared up toward the throne, not knowing what this being - the Lich King - meant. His mind shot back to the scene at Naxxramas. That woman, in obvious agony, had begged Kel’thuzad to kill her before she transformed and violently set upon her husband in undeath.

Kel’thuzad shivered. Would the Lich King do something similar to him to test his loyalty? Could he make him sick and driven to the point of madness?

“That is not your fate, human,” the Lich King boomed, reading his mind. “I shall not turn you to undead, for I require your current visage to complete our next task of inducting the people of Lordaeron to my order. No, you shall be kept intact... for now,”

Suddenly Kel’thuzad heard a scraping, moving sound coming up the steps behind him. Weary as he was, he turned his head to see what it was. He was surprised to see Anub’arak, the half spider, half beetle entity creeping along behind him. He shuffled past Kel’thuzad and approached the throne, bowing deeply before it.

“My Master,” he uttered dutifully.

“Cryptlord,” the Lich King’s voice rang. “Behold once more the one known as Kel’thuzad, human mage, formerly of the Kirin Tor. He has forsaken his people, and joined me at my side, as have you.”

Kel’thuzad looked down at the icy surface beneath him, wondering where this was all going.

“I want you to show him the meaning of pain, so that he may understand the futility in ever denying me,”

The words flew over Kel’thuzad’s head. He failed to comprehend them. He simply stared up towards the throne, speechless.

The Nerubian lord, still bowing deeply, raised himself on his haunches.

“Your will be done, my Lord,”

He stood on his arachnid legs and approached the mage.

Now Kel’thuzad’s mind began to work. He turned around, facing the spider lord. They were going to torture him, he’d be taken to a dungeon and have the life beaten out of him, or left inside with no food, no light... ideas whirled around in his frostbitten mind. As the crypt lord reached him, his long, hairy legs descended upon him. Kel’thuzad began to panic, the being’s huge, spiderlike countenance in such close proximity to him, on top of the prospect of his unknown upcoming torment frightening the mage.

“No, please, I –“ he cried as he was lifted up by his tattered robes, the furry legs holding him.

Anub’arak’s face was close to his, gripping Kel’thuzad’s body and transferring it from his robes to his arms. Kel’thuzad squirmed in vain, hoping somehow to get free and away from the spider lord’s large, menacing mandibles. Kel’thuzad, realising his resistance was futile, stared into the face of the crypt lord, wondering what was in store for him, what “pain” this creature was capable of inflicting, what the Lich King wanted him to experience in order for him to prove his loyalty.
The spider lord dropped Kel’thuzad, his back crashing painfully against the ice. “Ah,” he cried, blood sharply livening in his numb, frostbitten body, and intensifying the pain that came with the fall. The mage lay upon his back, feeling even more dazed.

His eyes were upon the spider lord. The creature seemed to have conjured some kind of white substance. Kel’thuzad frowned, realising what it was only as he felt the sticky, strong fibre binding his wrists. The crypt lord grabbed his wrists roughly, and attached them together with the webbing. Kel’thuzad gasped in horror at the horrible, sticky substance attaching his wrists together. He tried to prise his wrists apart, but it was amazingly strong. Anub’arak climbed over Kel’thuzad’s body, prompting further revile from the mage. The furry fibres of the cryptlord’s legs brushed against his form, making the human shudder in distaste. Anub’arak took Kel’thuzad’s arms and raised them above his head. With a small amount of extra fluid, he firmly attached the mage’s bound wrists to the icy surface he lay upon. Kel’thuzad still had no idea what he was about to endure, his mind racing with grim possibilities. He knew the crypt lord wasn’t going to eat him... as his service was required by the Lich King. He knew then that whatever was in store for him, it would have to be something that rendered him alive. He gulped heavily as Anub’arak sat back on his haunches, surveying his work and ensuring its sturdiness. He knew the crypt lord had bound him in this way for a reason. Kel’thuzad eyed his dripping mandibles wearily. Possibly he would use his venomous secretions to mar his skin as of fire, or he would leave him here until he got hypothermia. Kel’thuzad shifted uncomfortably against the ice. The Lich King’s throne loomed above him, watching. Anub’arak advanced upon him once more. Without giving the human any longer to contemplate his situation, the furry, thick leg of the crypt lord came towards him. Kel’thuzad expected to be scratched, or hit, but shockingly, Anub’arak’s claw took one swift, swinging movement, and shredded what remained of the human’s torn robes, leaving him prone and exposed. Kel’thuzad gasped loudly, before the same claw lowered itself to his cloth leggings, and unceremoniously shred those too. The icy Northrend wind assaulted his exposed nether regions, he being clad now in nothing but basic underwear.

Kel’thuzad instinctively brought his legs up in an attempt to cover himself with his knees, but the crypt lord, looming directly above him, seized both his ankles with one claw and lowered them back down. Now real thoughts of horror washed over Kel’thuzad. What did this mean? What was this... thing planning to do with him in his naked, exposed state?

He again attempted to raise his legs, but the grip the cryptlord had on them was too strong.

He glanced down over himself, noticing the sharp pointed legs of the former Nerubian king, dangerously close to his private parts. He shuddered, not from cold but fear, and turned his head towards the throne.

“P-please,” he began, shakily, “I p-promise... I will never betray you...” he whispered to the Lich King, the one who required such a display as this. There was no reply.

He turned his attention back to Anub’arak. The creature had one claw upon the bare, thin fabric of his undergarments, and then with a quick, clean rip, they were in pieces and the mage’s body was fully exposed to the harsh, frigid air.

He couldn’t help but emit a yelp of horror as the creature wasted no time in roughly spreading his legs apart. Anub’arak’s bristly leg came down upon him, stroking the mage’s thighs. He screwed his eyes shut tightly, trying to pretend it wasn’t happening, and turned his face away as much as he could.

“Good, my crypt lord,” came the booming voice of the Lich King. “Teach him to obey me,”

“Yes, Master,” Anub’arak replied.

Ensuring Kel’thuzad’s limbs were secured firmly, the Nerubian lord shambled around til he was in front of the mage, rearing himself back on his hind legs. Kel’thuzad stared blankly, not at first comprehending what he was seeing. It looked just like the rest of Anub’arak, but different somehow, it was hairless and...

Anub’arak removed the bonds from his wrists, freeing him.

“Crypt lord, you are dismissed.”

Anub’arak bowed deeply. “My Master,” he said, before he turned and shambled away, his deflated cock retreating into his body, passing Kel’thuzad without a second glance.

The booming voice of the Lich King filled the mage’s mind once more.

“Go now to your necropolis, human. There you will make your preparations to return to your homeland, spreading with you the word of your master,”

Kel’thuzad raised his exhausted body, and bowed deeply to the throne.

“My Master,” he said. He gathered up the remnants of his clothing and his staff. Then upon his dismissal, he summoned enough strength to teleport himself back to Naxxramas, his new home.
