The cheerful sounds of the marketplace filled the air. Merchants from all sides called out to the passer-bys, offering their goods and steadily lowering prices. Occasionally one would stop and negotiate a price with the vendor, or perhaps to sell an item of their own. A young girl in a pink dress ran by, a small toy gorilla in her hand. Her blonde pigtails flailing behind her, she looked over her shoulder, sticking her tongue out at the boy running behind her. He had bumped into a dangerous looking warrior, wearing black spiky armor all over his body. Turning away from the armor vendor in front of him, he swung his gaze to find the source of the disturbance, but the two children had already rounded the corner. “Hah hah! Who’s the baby now?” “Gimme back my gorilla!” A guard rolled his eyes as they passed, seeing them for what seemed like the hundredth time that day. He shrugged, rolling his shoulders to prevent them from stiffening up. He despised the stationary sentry position, but he only got it once a week. The rest of the time he was patrolling the streets, making sure there was no trouble in the city. Though, excluding the random raids from the Horde, there was nothing much of interest to investigate. The guard sighed, exhaling softly through his nose. At least the pay’s good. Across the canal, he noticed a female draenei walking casually across the cobblestones. With nothing else to do, his eyes followed her, invisible due to his helmet. She seemed to be a mage, but with all of the creative new armor sets, he couldn’t be sure. Her robes had a base color of light blue, becoming lighter to an almost white shade at the top. The entirety of the robes were covered in purple streaks, the shades of purple varying. Her gloves were much the same, with a light purple crystal embedded on the outside of her forearms, purple covering her fingers as well. Her shoulderpads looked as if multiple purple crystals jutted out of them at varying angles, yet there was an odd sort of pattern to it. They constantly emanated a soft blue mist like glow, trailing behind her as she walked. She had a curvy chest and rump, being larger than average but nothing extraordinary. She had dark purple skin, contrasted by her almost white hair, parted down her face and covering one eye. She was quite the sight, and the guard couldn’t help but watch her. She was simply walking down the side of the road, nothing in hand but an obvious destination in mind. At least, she walked with a purpose. She occasionally brushed by another adventurer, but didn’t say a word to any of them. The guard had just thought about approaching her when she stopped, head turned to the side. Following her gaze, he saw a shabby human dressed in a tattered warlock’s robe. It was a simple beggar, but he had managed to get this exotic creature’s attention. He could see the man’s mouth moving, but he was too far away to tell quite what he was saying. Likely asking for gold… the guard thought shamelessly. His eyes widened when he saw magic beginning to swirl around the man’s hands. Glowing orbs of blackness, surrounded by cackles of green electricity appeared on the man’s hands. The draenei took a step back, obviously nervous of the man’s intentions. The guard started to move forward, thinking that this was odd enough to put an end to. Before he took two steps, the spheres of magic released from the beggar’s hands. One sailed into the draenei’s chest, seeming to have no initial impact but forcing her to her knees moments after. The other soared into the sky, growing smaller and smaller until it was gone. Breaking into a run, the guard rushed towards the two. The draenei, having been looking at the ground, now lifted her head, staring wide eyed at the man in the tattered robe. A surprisingly hearty laugh burst from his chest as the shadows of the alley he rested in began to eat at his form. The guard had just reached the pair as the last of the man disappeared, nothing to mark his absence but a chilling wind that rattled through the guard’s armor. Kneeling down, he placed a hand gingerly on the draenei’s shoulder. His voice calm and soothing, he asked “Are you alright?” The draenei’s head flipped up at him, her eyes wide with fear. She stood up, looking around in panic. The guard stood as well, unsure of what was going on. The girl attempted to back up, but tripped over her robe, falling on her rear. She backed up until her back rested against the stone wall behind her, pulling her legs in tight. She no longer looked at the guard, simply rocked back and forth with fear. The guard attempted to move forward, but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder. Looking behind him, he saw a man almost completely covered by white garb, decorated with gold latches. A thin slit showed the man’s eyes, which bored into the guard before switching to the draenei huddled on the ground. “I’ll take care of it.” Quill released the guard’s shoulder before stepping forward towards the terrified girl. A night elf stood a few feet away, bouncing on her feet as she waited for him. He kneeled down, placing a hand on the girl’s knee. “Are you alright?” He asked softly. She looked at him fearfully before pulling away. He expected as much. “Are you hurt?” He asked slowly, not wanting to scare her more then she already was. He wasn’t sure what had happened, but he knew he could do a better job of helping then the guard who had now retreated to his post. Besides, the captain of the guard would have his ass for leaving his post for this. The draenei fixed her gaze upon him, but made no indication of an answer. Setting his mouth in a grimace, he decided to use a bit of magic. His hands started to glow white, a faint blue outline appearing around the magic. The draenei let out a small start at his actions, trying to back away but being beset by the wall. He smiled reassuringly, but mentally slapped himself as he realized she couldn’t see his face. Holding up his hand, he channeled his magic through her, calming her quickly beating heart and overactive mind. He could see her eyes relax slightly, some of the fear slipping away. Her vice-like grip on her legs loosened, and Quill cut off his flow of magic. Satisfied with his work, he reached up and unlatched his mask, pulling it off. Now smiling, he tilted his head to the side slightly. “There. Is that better?” The draenei nodded slowly, lip trembling slightly. “Can’t talk, or don’t want to?” He asked in a friendly manner. He stood up, offering his hand to help her up as well. Hesitating only a moment, she took his hand, standing up. She wobbled a bit before managing to steady herself by placing a hand on the wall. As with most draenei, she stood a half foot taller than Quill, but he didn’t mind. He grinned reassuringly at her, managing to get a small smile in return. “What’s your name? I’m Quill.” The draenei opened her mouth to reply, and hesitated. When she spoke, her words came out slowly, as if she was unused to speaking. Her voice had a pleasant ring to it though. “I…don’t know…” Quill tilted his head to the side, thoughts rushing through it. She doesn’t know? How can that be? Did she lose her memory? Or- A thought struck him. He remembered that she didn’t seem to be able to stand on her own legs when she stood up, and now she couldn’t remember her name. It was as if… she wasn’t used to her body… He shook his head, brushing the thought aside. “Don’t know hmm? That could be a problem.” He said, though his voice made her feel more comfortable. He looked over his shoulder, beckoning his night elf companion to join him. When they came together, they instantly took each other’s hand, something they didn’t seem to realize doing. The draenei eyed the joined fingers, smiling softly. So, not everything is weird… The man in front of her seemed nice enough, as if he actually was trying to help. Not that he could. I have no idea what’s going on… The man’s friendly gaze returned to her, his eyes sparkling in the little light his hat let through. “Well, let’s start with other things and work up to that. Do you know where you are?” The draenei thought briefly, a finger raised to her chin. She slowly shook her head, thinking that she knew but not daring to believe it. Quill waved a hand majestically to his right, his voice now deep, as if he was trying to imitate an announcer. “Well, let me introduce you to Stormwind! Human capital of Azeroth! Best place to not know where you are, if you ask me.” The elf to his left giggled, her voice sounding nothing less than musical. “Oh, where are my manners?” Quill said, shaking his head and placing a hand on his forehead. His voice was normal again. “This is Kyli, Kyli, this is… I don’t know. Yet.” He added the last part as if he intended to find out. Kyli beamed at her. “Pleasure to meet you, ‘I Don’t Know’.” The draenei was unable to repress a giggle come from her chest. “You too, Kyli.” She said. Her mind was quickly being put at ease, allowing her to think clearly. If she was in Stormwind, then that cemented the fact that she was in the game. But how had it happened? And how did she tell the man in front of her without sounding crazy? She suddenly remembered that he had asked for her name. Deciding to go with the name of her character, she spoke up for the first time without provocation. “I’m sorry, my name’s Serenity. I had a bit of a head rush…” She blushed at her own lie. She didn’t like lying to people, especially those who went out of their way to help her. But he’ll think I’m crazy if I tell him… Suddenly, her mind was filled with thoughts of her and Quill making love, and her sex began to blush with heat. Where did that come from? She wondered, crossing her legs slightly. She could feel a line of juice begin to trickle down them. Not seeming to notice, the couple in front of her smiled. “Nice to meet you, Serenity.” They said nearly simultaneously. They grinned at each other. Turning back to face her, Quill asked her another question. “So, what happened?” Ignoring another thought of wild sex with him, she answered “Well…” What should I say? I guess I should mention the man in the tattered robe… but I don’t really know what happened. “I was walking along, and a man in a torn robe started talking to me…” Quill’s smile quickly died, eyes losing their cheerful gleam. She could almost see the thoughts rushing through his head. It was Kyli that pushed her on. “Well? What did he say?” Thinking for a moment, Serenity replied “He just said ‘You…’ and that’s all I remember before passing out.” Quill leaned towards Kyli, whispering in her ear slightly before releasing her hand. Looking confused, Kyli stepped away to her previous position. Quill moved a little further away, motioning for Serenity to follow. She did so uncertainly. Turning to face her, his expression was a mask of curiosity. “Did he tell you that you must become one with what you love so much?” Her eyes widened. “How did you know that?” She asked, now curious about the man in front of her. He glanced left and right, making sure no one was close enough to hear their conversation. “Are you…” hesitating slightly, he continued. “Part of this world?” He…knows… Serenity slowly shook her head, not daring to believe that this man knew of what she just went through. He sighed, shaking his head slightly. “I was afraid of that. There’s a lot of explaining to do, but long story short, yes, this is really happening. You’re in the game.” As he said those last words, she felt faint. She steadied herself on the wall, looking to the ground. “No…” she said softly. “Yes. Listen, I can’t talk much here.” Quill said, staring at her. “I need you to meet me at the Pig and Whistle Tavern after nine.” He rolled his eyes at her befuddled look. “The inn in Old Town.” “Ah..” she said, nodding knowingly. He resumed his shot explanation. “I can explain everything there. Just stay out of trouble until then.” She nodded. Quill smiled, beginning to walk towards Kyli. Serenity stopped him, grabbing his arm. She hesitated a moment before she spoke. “Are you… part of this world?” Quill sighed, shaking his head. Looking nervous, she leaned closer to him, whispering now. “When you came in… were you… really…” She seemed to have trouble finishing her sentence. “Really what?” Quill asked, confused. “Really… horny.” She said at last. His face reddened slightly, looking away. “No, I wasn’t.” Looking slightly upset, she pleaded with him. “What does that mean then?” He thought for a moment, Serenity releasing his arm. “Do you go to Goldshire often?” He asked, a hint of humor in his voice. Serenity blushed, looking down. “Well… yea…” Quill chuckled softly. “Well then, you’re craving it. That’s a good way to pass the time, even. Head on down to Goldshire, satisfy yourself, and meet me in the inn afterwards. Sound good?” Serenity nodded, still blushing from revealing a slight secret of hers. Quill returned to Kyli’s side, smiling at her. “Nothing to worry about.” He said softly, reassuring her. Still looking slightly confused, she nodded, but took his hand happily. Turning to face Serenity, Quill replaced his mask. Did he just pull that out of thin air? “Well, I’ll see you at the inn tonight, ok?” Serenity nodded, smiling softly. She began walking down the street, stumbling slightly with her robe and own hooved feet. “You have some explaining to do.” Kyli said, her and Quill walking the other way. He rolled his eyes, smiling behind his mask. “When don’t I?”
