Chapter One
Sylonia descended the steps from the Violet Tower. The sun shone brightly over Dalaran, high and central. She shielded her emerald eyes with a gloved hand as she looked up at the clear sky. Her Sin’dorei ears perked slightly and she opened a parasol and held it over her as she went down the remaining steps.
Her robe rustled around her feet, cascading down from round hips to flow smoothly, stopping just before hitting the ground. The bodice was snug around her, offering a scoop cut, modest around her full breasts. She stood average height for a Sin’dorei, her skin pale and long blonde hair held up in places by various jewelled pins and clasps. The majority of it fell over her shoulders, a colour so fair it was almost white. Jade eyes were precisely lined with a thin kohl making them appear bright and alert. Her lashes were long and delicately darkened.
It had just gone noon and the cobblestone streets were busy. The chatter of those walking to and fro seemed to dominate the walkways and Sylonia stood on tiptoe for a moment to see if she could catch sight of the entrance to a shop not far opposite her. Merchants were notorious for closing down over lunch time, some even choosing to make their own odd hours. She soon spied the open door and decided to make a beeline for the store, swerving to avoid those zipping past her. She stepped gracefully onto the pavement, hitching up her robe slightly with one hand, and brought her parasol shut as she climbed the small staircase to the shop entrance.
The boutique was relatively small, offering a fine variety of fabrics by the spool. Sylonia smiled as she entered, immediately infused by her surroundings. She was in need of another project, perhaps a simpler robe of sorts. She wasn’t sure yet. Her taste ran frequently to the sumptuous, the more luxurious items of clothing and she took it upon herself to create them by hand.
The mage was a regular patron of the small boutique as they often carried new and exciting materials. For such a modest place, they boasted the most variety of fabrics in all of Dalaran. In fact, she might also claim all of Azeroth for that matter as she had always been one to venture far and wide to find the perfect textiles. She smiled at the dwarven shopkeeper and the stout woman nodded at her.
“Good te see ya, Sylonia,” she older woman chimed.
“A pleasure,” the Sin’dorei replied graciously. She closed her parasol and set it down by the door, looking around the shop.
“Anna will see te ye today. I’m headin’ out fer the afternoon,” the dwarven woman motioned to a Draenei coming down the stairs. The woman smiled at Sylonia and Sylonia returned the gesture. The mage had not come across many Draenei. She generally found them to be rather exotic overall, a sentiment echoed by most of the races in Dalaran. Anna made it to the bottom of the stairs, clad in a simple, yet elegant robe. Sylonia felt somewhat dwarfed by the woman. She noted the shop assistant’s robe. It was well made, modest. Draenei females were known for their voluptuous figures and Anna was no exception. Her skin was pale, almost porcelain white, and she stood at least a couple of feet taller than the Sin’dorei. Well-kept horns grew back, nestled among her dark hair that was tastefully coiffed just above her shoulders. Sylonia looked her over, noticing the garment did not necessarily sit right in certain places. Anna’s abundant chest forced the fabric to be tight in certain places, and while it was something that was not necessarily evident, Sylonia’s keen eye picked it up. Anna clasped her hands together in front of her, continuing to smile at the smaller Sin’dorei.
“Is there anything I can help you with today, my Lady?” She asked, her voice polite and cordial, without a hint of an accent. Her silver eyes washed over the mage. “That robe is opulent. Where did you purchase it from?” Sylonia looked down at her dark coloured garment and then back up at the Draenei.
“Oh, this? I made it myself.” She smoothed out the robe slightly and smiled at Anna.
“Yourself? My goodness. It’s wonderful!” Anna stepped closer to the Sin’dorei, extending a hand hesitantly. “May I?”
“Of course,” Sylonia nodded, still smiling. The Draenei brought the hem of the wide sleeve between her thumb and forefinger, feeling the fabric.
“Silk…” she said, inspecting it further and then letting her hand dropped as she looked over the Sin’dorei.
“Embersilk, in fact,” Sylonia responded with a knowing smile.
“Why, yes, of course! I’ve never seen it in such a rich shade before. It’s exquisite. And so well fitted.” Anna’s eyes looked over the small elf once more as she noted her curvaceous figure, a rarity among her kind. She nodded to the mage with a smile. “It must be handy to create your own garments. Everything fits so perfectly.” The Draenei brought her hands together in front of her once more.
“It does come in handy, yes.” Sylonia looked over the woman’s robe, noting the slight tug at the bodice, the seam wrinkled ever so slightly. In her mind she began to wonder how she would cut the fabric, tailor it to such a generous bosom. It could be done of course.
“I might have to commission a piece from you,” Anna said. “I would pay handsomely for such a unique work of art.” Sylonia raised a brow. She had never created anything for anyone else before. The thought intrigued her. She canted her head to the side, her long slender ears perking slightly.
“Oh, would you? I’m sure we could work something out.” The Sin’dorei’s eyes looked up to the Draenei. “Did you have that one made for you?” She asked. Anna looked down at herself.
“This? Oh yes. But I am not completely happy with it.” Her smile dissipated somewhat but her tone remained pleasant. She brought a hand up just under her arm, “The seam is tight here,” She motioned and Sylonia nodded in agreement.
“Yes, I had noticed.” She replied. Anna suddenly seemed slightly flustered, “Oh! Not that it’s terribly apparent, of course. It’s just I have an eyes for these things.” Sylonia offered her a warm smile and the Draenei returned it, bringing her hand down to her side.
“It’s hard to find garments at times. And even the ones that are made aren’t always up to scratch.” Anna frowned slightly, smoothing out her robe. Sylonia nodded. Anna looked her over. “My apologies! You came in here for fabrics and I am hogging all of your time and attention. Please, tell me what you are looking for.” Sylonia waved a dismissive hand and smiled at the woman.
“No need to apologise. I am looking forward to creating something to suit your figure,” She said as she gave the Draenei another once over. “Though I have come in to see what new things you had in store, but we can discuss both equally.” Anna smiled widely at her and motioned the Sin’dorei towards a table in the corner of the modest room.
“Please, come this way. We recently received a shipment of a frostweave and silk mix.” She moved behind the table and pulled out a few large spools of fabric, placing them gingerly down on the surface. “Our colours and patterns are limited but we do expect to get more within the following few weeks.” Sylonia looked over the different textiles, running her fingers along them.
“Soft, durable. Exquisite. I love the silk mixture. And the colours aren’t so bad.” She brought a piece between two fingers, rubbing it delicately. Her eyes moved up, looking at the Draenei. “You know, I think this would be perfect for you. And the deep colour would accentuate your skin and eyes.” Anna marveled at her, her smile wide.
“Do you think so?” She asked, running a finger along the fabric. “I love it. When we got it in, I remarked at how magnificent it was.” Anna was excited at the prospect and her silver eyes seemed to glimmer as she looked over the Sin’dorei once more, her gaze perhaps lingering longer than it should over the unusual curves of the elf. She inwardly remarked at how well the robe fit, but of course it was tailored specifically to do so. Sylonia seemed to notice the woman’s gaze and raised a delicate brow. She smiled courteously.
“Yes, it’s perfect. I would like some in burgundy for myself but I think the cobalt blue would go better with your colouring.” The mage pulled the blue spool to the center of the table. “I know how much I need for me, however, I have never really made anything for someone not my.. size.” she said, wondering if she had made some sort of rude gaffe. Sylonia looked Anna over. Her body’s curvature was unique and she understood now why men of all races found the Draenei women to be so exotic and appealing. “Forgive me,” the mage said, “I didn’t mean to be rude.” Anna chuckled.
“Nothing to forgive, my lady. I have long grown used to the differences between myself and other races. You will need more material, though I wouldn’t be able to tell you how much. And by all means, the fit would need to be precise, there is also this,” The Draenei turned her back slightly to Sylonia and let her long tail sway back and forth. The Sin’dorei’s eyes immediately caught sight of the movement and she looked at it in awe.
“Of course, a tail,” she said. The sway was somewhat hypnotic and she noted how when still, it reached the back of the Draenei’s knees. Sylonia brought a finger to her lips in pensive contemplation. “I’ve never created anything for anyone but myself before. This will be a challenge indeed. One I’m looking forward to.” She smiled at Anna and the Draenei let her tail go slack and turned back towards the blood elf, clasping her hands together in enthusiasm.
“Oh, I’m so very pleased! I will, of course, pay for such a service. It will be wonderful to get something properly custom made.” Anna smiled widely at the mage. Sylonia nodded in return.
“I will take four and a half metres of the burgundy for now, and I advise you to set aside the cobalt for the time being if you can. I will need you to come for a fitting before I know how much fabric will be required.” Sylonia smiled as she watched Anna unravel the material to measure it.
“Certainly. When is convenient for you?” Anna measured and cut the fabric as Sylonia requested, folding it gingerly and placing the burgundy spool under the table. She kept the cobalt one to the side. The Sin’dorei glanced down pensively and then looked back up at the shop assistant.
“Is tomorrow good for you? Perhaps just after noon?” Sylonia ran her hand over the folded fabric, basking in the texture of it. Anna nodded with a smile as she waited for the mage to be done with the fabric before beginning to wrap it in delicate paper.
“Wonderful!” She exclaimed as she finished wrapping up the material. Sylonia took a small piece of paper from her bag and began to scribble her address on it with a pen. She slid it across the table to Anna who took it and read it over. “Oh that’s just around the corner here,” she stated. The mage nodded and smiled. Anna tucked the small bit of parchment into her bodice and the elf’s eyes followed, suddenly realizing she was staring at the woman’s large breasts. Sylonia immediately glanced down and Anna let out a chuckle. “Oh worry not, I am used to that too.” she said teasingly. The Sin’dorei felt herself blush slightly as she looked up. She was no stranger to the same gender attraction, having sampled both sexes equally, but it had been a long time since she had dabbled with another woman, and she had never encountered one with such a voluptuous form.
“I’m sure you are,” she said with a gracious smile. Anna giggled once more, waving a dismissive hand.
“I can’t wait to see what you’re going to come up with. I know it will be fabulous!” The Draenei seemed giddy as she looked over the mage. “Can I help you with anything else today, my lady?” The blood elf smiled and shook her head.
“No, I think that will be all for today. Thank you again for your help and I will see you tomorrow,” She nodded, taking her purchased wares out of the shop. Anna smiled and waved after her, the enthusiasm in her face vivid.
Sylonia exited the shop, stepping down onto the cobblestone road. The crowds were still out in full force but the mage didn’t seem to take much notice of it. She was inspired at the prospect of creating something for someone else, as well as trying out the new fabric she had come across. With a slight spring in her step, she crossed the road, walking towards a small cafe. The mage decided to grab a light bite before returning home and getting to work on the new project.
