Mitsuru was supposed to be packing her room up to move out of the dorm, but she couldn't concentrate on what she was doing. She was still thinking about the recording she had seen nearly a week ago now. Truth be told, she was really just trying to stem the torrent of emotions threatening to lash out and consume her. If she could just suppress them once more like her father had told her, no one would ever need know that she had ever lost her cool.
She had been schooled about how to behave in public for as long as she could remember. Since the Kirijo group was so extremely famous, the expectations of her to behave in public were very high. She was scarcely allowed out of the house. When she did go out, it was often with several appointed staff members or advisers. And keeping top grades was not a choice she would have made for herself, but it kept her in good standing with the Kirijo group so she begrudgingly obliged.
Meeting Akihiko was like getting hit with a bolt of lightning. From the first moment he began dorming with her, her was bottled fury. She tried to stay away from him as much as possible in those first few weeks. Ikutsuki-san was incorrigible at best. He insisted it was important for her to get to know Akihiko. It was letting her know that Akihiko had the potential to be a Persona-user that really got her to go to that stupid restaurant in the first place. If she got to know him now, when the time to fight came, she could easily match his fighting styles.
That night was one of the most awkward nights of her life. Having Ikutsuki-san there telling his cheesy jokes made it even worse. But then, something happened. That evening, during the Dark Hour, Akihiko awakened to his Persona, then called Polydeuces. It was his weakest moment. After coming to his rescue, Mitsuru took him to the fourth floor of the dorms so that Ikutsuki-san could tell him what was going on.
From that moment on, Akihiko became more than just an acquaintance. He was a comrade, taking up arms in the fight against the shadows. Mitsuru smiled at the memory.
Still, it didn't explain what she was feeling now. When had 'comrade in arms' turned into 'extremely desirable partner,' and how had it changed without her noticing? Yet it must be true. Even the thought of Akihiko being in the hospital again was almost unbearable. Her heart pounded achingly at the thought.
A steady knock at her open door brought her suddenly out of her reverie. She blinked a few times to clear the tears away before looking around. It was Akihiko-san.
