Regrets

Author’s Note: This chapter was much more fun to write, mainly because it’s not filled with so much sadness and depression. I managed to get this up rather quickly, working on it a little bit every day, despite the fact that I had a Geography test to write today…plus with the ever looming date of exams… But yeah, anyways, I hope you guys enjoy reading. ^^

“I hear your morning was tough.” Riku looked up as a man walked in the dim theater.

“Yeah, I got to look after a bunch of little brats.”

The man chuckled and pulled a janitor’s cart in behind him, “How old were they?”

Riku groaned at the question. “God, they must have been at least twelve, around Rika’s age.”

“Haha. Man, am I ever glad that it was you on shift.”

“…shut up.” Riku grumbled.

He went around gathering up the garbage left behind. There were cups in holders, some empty and others full. Popcorn was scattered all over the floors, and there was something sticky in one of the seats.

Ugh. Gum.

Riku made a disgusted noise and wiped his hands on the seat next to it. “Do we sell gum here?”

The man looked up. “Last time I checked? No, I don’t think so. Why, you find some?”

“Mm. ABC.”

“Ew,”

“Yeah, tell me about it.” Riku backed out into the aisle and made his way to the next row of seats. That row was much cleaner than the first. He made quick work of cleaning up before moving on upwards.

“I can’t get wait to get out of here. My shift’s over in two hours.”

“Lucky,” Riku chuckled, “I have to stay here and rot for another six.” He moved on to the fourth row, ”Why do you get to go home so early, anyway, Xemnas?”

Xemnas followed Riku up stairs and stood outside in the aisle as Riku cleaned.

“I’m the manager; I can to do whatever I want simply because I can.”

“That is so not fair.”

“Do you want to stand here and argue about equality for the next ten minutes, and have me fire you, or do you want to move on to the next theater?”

Riku grumbled. “I’m sorry, Xemnas, my favorite manager in the whole world, that I will do anything for.”

Xemnas rolled his eyes. “Keep working, Akumi.”

Riku snorted, mocking his boss under his breath. “Keep working, Akumi…mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi…”

Xemnas stopped and gave him a very flat look. “I’m not amused.”

The two men talked for a while longer, until the theater was fit for the next group of people to come see that particular movie then they parted and went their separate ways; Xemnas to his office, and Riku to take a breather.

Riku walked out in the corridor and leaned against a wall, closing his eyes. Despite the loud voices and laughter all around him, he felt he was able to relax now. But that was not to be as his cell phone rang. Irritated, He dug for the phone in his pocket and flipped it open.

“Yes?”

“Is this Riku Akumi?”

Riku frowned at the professional sounding voice.

“Yes…”

“This is Polly from St. Andrea’s Hospital.”

Riku felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise. No good would come from this phone call he knew it.

He swallowed.

“Oh…”

“I’m calling to inform you of that there was an animal attack at the animal hospital. Your husband and niece are in the Intensive Care Unit.”

It suddenly got more difficult for Riku to breathe.

Sora…

Roxy…

“A-are they alright?”

“They’re fine, Mr. Akumi, but we would appreciate it if you could come in to fill out a few forms.”

“Yeah, ok, I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

“Thank you, Mr. Akumi.”

Riku shut his cell phone, and leaned back against the wall once more, his face pale.

Sora slowly opened his eyes and glanced around the room. He spotted Riku beside his bed, holding his hand. Sitting up slowly, Sora gave his husband a small smile. He was kind of out it having lost a lot of blood, and dazed because of the painkillers the doctors had given him.

“Hey.”

His voice sounded hoarse as if he hadn’t used it in a long time.

Riku gave him a teary smile. “Hey. How you feeling?”

Sora lay back down and sighed. “Alright I guess.” He hesitated. “How’s Roxy…?”

“Sleeping,”

“Oh,”

Riku nodded and leaned down to kiss the brunet’s forehead. “I love you.” He whispered softly, lifting a hand and smoothing a few spikes back. “I don’t know what’d I do if I lost you…”

Sora didn’t answer.

“So…what happened? How did you two get bit?”

Sora squirmed a bit and rolled over on his side, back facing Riku. He knew Riku would bring up that question eventually. “Roxy came in to tell me she was done the cages and there was a… rabid dog that I lost control of.”

“Where is it now?” Riku had a feeling Sora wasn’t telling him the whole truth.

“Probably dead…” Sora answered quietly, hoping. He shut his eyes and saw the rottweiler lunge, heard his own screams. The pain had been horrible. If he hadn’t found that valium and injected it into the dog, he might have bled to death before the paramedics got there. “But everything’s ok now. Roxy and I only needed stitches.”

“Mm, yeah,” Riku smiled and crawled on to the bed so he could kiss Sora’s neck.

Sora moaned softly.

Riku crawled closer, careful not to bump against Sora’s injured leg, and lay down beside him. He draped his arm over Sora and kissed his neck again.

Sora moaned again and squirmed a little.

“Are you trying to get into my pants?”

“…no.”

“Riku you ass, I’m hurt and all you care about is sex.” Sora giggled.

Riku grinned. “You know it.”

“Jerk,”

“Slut,”

“Ass,”

“Yours is nice.”

“Oooh, Riku!”

Riku laughed and dodged Sora’s elbow, which was aimed for his gut. He scrambled for the edge of the bed as Sora turned around to face him. Sora pouted and shot Riku a playful glare.

“I hate you,”

“I love you too,”

Sora huffed and crossed his arms.

Riku grinned and sat back down in the chair. “Rika’s visiting Roxy; I can go get her if you want.”

Sora smiled and sat up. “Go get her then.” He watched Riku leave and sighed, looking down at his bandaged leg.

“I’m really sorry for everything I ever did…” Rika said quietly, sitting in a chair beside her cousin’s bed, kicking her feet gently. She had always been jealous of Roxy because of all the attention she got, regardless if she meant to or not. “It’s just…I’m so tired of just being second rate in mom and dad’s eyes. You’ve always been the cute one, and a great big goody-two-shoes…”

Roxy felt guilty and it showed. “I’m sorry, Rika, I had no idea you felt that way.”

“It’s alright. I’m over it now. I’ve always wished you’d just go away and leave me, mom and dad alone, but I never wanted anything bad to happen to you, ever.”

“I’m really sorry, Rika. I’ll stop working with Uncle Sora.”

“No, I don’t care about that. Animals aren’t really my thing anyways. But Snowy likes me.”

Roxy just smiled, she knew otherwise. That cat hated Riku more than it hated her Uncle.

Just then, Riku poked his head in and waved. Roxy waved back and Rika turned to see who she was waving to.

“Your dad’s awake,” Riku told his daughter. Rika grinned and jumped up, running out of the room saying a hurried ‘later’ to her cousin.

Riku laughed and went over to sit by his niece.

“Your mom’s on his way in.”

Roxy’s green eyes lit up. She grinned.

“He is?”

“Mm-hm. Should be here any minute, actually.”

The grin never left her lips as Roxy stared at the open door, waiting for her mother to arrive.

And that’s the third chapter. More funny than serious, I absolutely adore Riku and Sora.

Just to give you people a little update on the family history, lol, Rika is Riku and Sora’s 13 year old daughter, and she’s a little terror. Riku’s the mother, by the way. XD

Roxy is Axel and Roxas’ daughter, Axel being the mother. Roxas is dead though, so Axel had to raise her on his own.

Snowy – short for Snowflake-is Riku’s evil cat. Silver furred, grayish eyes XD

And I’m kinda thinking of writing a prequel to this, when Roxas was alive and stuff. I adore Roxas (Jesse McCartney). XD
