Apprehension

Disclaimer: Sadly I do not own any Kingdom Hearts characters. All original characters and names belong to me and my friend.

Author’s Note: Well, I guess it took longer to write this than I first thought it would. After exams I had no muse and then school started up again, and still I had no muse and well… I actually wrote all of this just tonight. I suppose I finally have some muse even if it wasn’t quite written as well as I would have liked. My vocabulary is still limited and I’m trying really hard to change that. I completely gave up on my story I was writing to help me out, and I haven’t done anything more on the idea of writing a pre-quel.

Anyways, enjoy.

“Roxy?” Axel’s voice was full of concern as he walked into his daughter’s hospital room. He had been at work, and nearly had a heart attack when he got a call informing him that his little girl was in the hospital. Axel hated hospitals ever since he lost Roxas almost fourteen years ago. And now he might lose his little girl.

Roxy and Rika looked over when Axel arrived and Roxy grinned. “Hi mommy.”

Axel sighed with relief. His daughter was awake and smiling. He went over to her and took her hand, grinning. Relief flowed through him. His little girl was ok. “Hey…how ya doing?”

“Better now that you’re here.” The blonde answered, putting her arms around her mother’s neck as Axel leaned down to hug her.

Rika took this as her cue to leave the room and go check on her mother.

They hugged for a moment before Axel broke the silence and pulled away, emerald eyes shining with tears. He held her at arms length and smiled. “My little girl’s growing up. You look more and more like your father everyday.”

Roxy smiled, but didn’t want to say anything for fear of upsetting her mother.

Axel sighed and kissed her head. “So why are you here?”

His daughter was silent for a moment and this worried Axel.

“Roxy…?”

“I was bit by a…a…dog.” She answered quietly, picking at some lint on the sheets. She shut her eyes, reliving that horrible moment when the rottweiler had bit her, and before when that horrible man was hurting her uncle.

“Oh my god…” Axel sighed, feeling helpless for that movement, wishing he had been there to prevent his little girl from getting hurt, Sora too. “H-How’s your uncle?” He asked finally, feeling bad he hadn’t been that concerned about Roxas’ brother in the first place.

“He’s ok. Uncle Riku’s with him.”

Axel managed another smile and hugged his daughter gently. “When I got that call…I…I thought I had lost you.”

Roxy returned the hug, and kissed his cheek. “But you didn’t. I’m ok. The doctor said I have to get stitches though…”

Axel glanced down at the blonde’s bandaged leg and couldn’t help but still feel bad for not being able to prevent it.

“Look, Roxy, we’re home. And Apollo’s missed you, he’s doing a dance.” Axel chuckled as he pulled the car into the drive way a few days later. He felt rather cheerful now that his daughter was out the hospital. He loved Roxy, but another minute in that place he was sure he would have had a mental breakdown. The smell of hospitals had always bothered as a kid, but ever since Roxas had died the day he had Roxy, his dislike of hospitals had increased greatly. Sighing, Axel turned off the car and opened the door, stepping out of the car only to be knocked backwards by the hyper golden retriever.

“Yes, Apollo, I missed you too, you big mutt,” Axel chuckled and made a disgusted noise as the dog jumped up and attempted to lick his face. “Down you dumb dog, I didn’t miss you that much.”

Apollo barked and backed off panting, and wagging his tail. Axel rolled his eyes and looked over at Roxy and frowned. “Hey, you alright…?”

Roxy watched the dog with wide eyes and pressed herself against the seat, whimpering quietly. Despite the fact that Apollo was her dog, she couldn’t bring herself to call to him as she usually would. Axel sighed and turned around, looking down at the happy dog.

“Apollo, go.”

The dog stopped his little happy dance and cocked his head to the side as if to say ‘what’d I do?’

“Go.” Axel pointed to yard and the dog whimpered, walking off with his tail between his legs. He felt bad for Apollo, but knew Roxy needed a little time to get used to him again.

Once he helped Roxy into the house, ignoring the way Apollo stood off to the side tail drooped and whimpering, Axel put his daughter down on the couch and smiled. “You ok?” She nodded and Axel sat down beside her, putting the crutches she was using off to the side. “Honey, Apollo won’t hurt you, you know that right?”

Roxy didn’t answer.

“He’s your dog, Roxy, he just missed you.”

“I know…” She answered finally, voice quiet, fearful.

“So you’ll give him a chance?”

“N-not right now.”

“No not now. I meant later, when you’ve had some time to adjust and get settled. Ok?”

“I guess…”

“That’s my girl.” Axel gave her a one armed hug and brushed some hair out of her face. She looked so scared and once more Axel felt helpless. He didn’t know what to do to make her feel more comfortable. But he had to try. “Want some pancakes? I’ll use the cookie cutters to make those cool shapes again.”

Roxy nodded, smiling a bit. “Ok, thanks mom.”

“Anything for my baby,” Axel smiled and ruffled her hair as he got to his feet to go make the pancakes.

“Need any help? I could carry you if you want.”

“No Riku, I’m fine. They did give me crutches you know.”

“I know, I know…”

Sora shook his head and laughed. “I appreciate you offering though. You get a reward.” Riku’s eyes lit up, but he was disappointed to discover the reward was a little kiss on his cheek.

“Oh come on, Sora, that was mean.”

Sora just grinned and hobbled across the kitchen to the fridge, “Maybe tonight, Riku.”

Riku grinned just as much, satisfied with that answer. He walked over to the fridge and kissed Sora’s neck. “I gotta go to work soon, you and Rika ok by yourselves?”

“Uurg, I only have an injured leg. I can take care of myself fine. Stop being so overprotective,” Sora grumbled and whack Riku over the head with one of the crutches.

“Ow! Is it a crime to love you?” Riku muttered, rubbing his head, and glaring at his husband.

Sora grinned and shook his head. “No, but you’re in my way and I want milk.”

“Fucker…” Riku moved out of his way and sat down at the table, eating a doughnut.

Sora just mocked him and poured himself a glass of milk. In that moment of silence he found himself thinking about that horrible day when he saw Gab again and couldn’t help but shudder as he remembered those piercing green eyes and the touch that made him want to be sick.

“Sora?”

Sora jumped, Riku’s voice interrupting his thoughts. He sighed and looked over. “Yeah?”

“You ok? You’re kinda quiet.”

“Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine.” Sora gave him a reassuring smile and finished off his milk, putting the glass in the sink. “I’ll be in our room…”

Riku grinned then whined. “And I have to go to work…”

Sora smirked and waved his fingers. “Byye.”

“I’m ravaging that ass when I get home.” Riku told him as he put his sneakers back on.

“Mm-hmm, sure you are. Bye Riku.” He hobbled over to the silver haired man and placed a hand on Riku’s chest, kissing him softly. “See you tonight.”

Riku whined as that hand suddenly moved down and grabbed his crotch. “I refuse to go to work now.”

“Mm, well someone’s gotta make money to put food on our table, and it can’t be me. I’m out of commission.”

“I can’t go to work like this though,” Riku complained, indicating the lump in his pants.

“Hm, sure you can. Just go to the bathroom and wank off.”

“…A public place, Sora…I work there.”

“Never stopped you before…” Sora purred, winking and hobbling away.

Riku watched his ass and sighed, knowing Sora was right. He whined again and quickly left.

--------------------------------------------

So that’s the fourth chapter. Maybe a little longer, but still, as I said above, it’s rather limited of descriptions and if anyone has any ideas to help me out, please email or more mention it in a review. That would be really awesome. I hate the fact that I can no longer write like I used to. I also had quite the problem coming up with the title for this one, but I think it fits ok.

Now, some random notes, to explain bits of this chapter. Apollo is Roxy’s dog, obviously. She got him when he was a puppy and he’s like…2 or 3 now I think, so she would have got him when she was 9…and I honestly think that’s all to explain for the moment.

And one more thing… I have no clue when the next chapter will be going up, but I guarantee it will be up eventually. I’m hoping to throw in some random SquallxCloudness…but I really have no more ideas to write the next chapter. So again, any ideas please let me know. I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading ^^
