“…and this is a Nulberry. If you’re affected by Waterblight, you’ll find it hard to regain your stamina, so be sure to eat one right away. And this… Katelyn, are you listening?”
“Yup,” you answer, sharpening your dual blades. “If I get wet, eat berries.”
“Umm… more or less, yeah. It’s called Waterblight though. Be careful. Since you’re using dual blades, you’ll be especially vulnerable if your stamina runs out,” Liz continues to ramble.
“Relax, Liz,” you assure her, holding up your swords to examine their sharpness. “I’m a seasoned huntr- hunter. I have plenty of stamina.”
“That’s not what Zack said…” she mutters.
“Hmm? What’s up?” you ask.
“Nothing,” she chuckles. “Good luck out there, and do your best! I’d hate for us to end up… y’know. Again.”
You set out to find your quarry, and before long you come across its murky, downstream nest. There it is, sleeping as its doom approaches. Foolish Jurtadaurus. You walk right up to its head and activate your ace: Demon Mode. With this, you’ll have the strength and speed of a demon. You unleash a flurry of blows against the creature’s face while it’s still sleeping. Immediately, your opponent gets to its feet, and the battle has begun.
You quickly gain distance by using your demon speed to dart away. Except the water is really difficult to run in…! It’s tiring you out, so you’ll have to deactivate Demon Mode for now. Meanwhile, the monster spits out some gross mucus mounds. They’re not close to hitting you, and considering how gross they are, you’d like to keep it that way. You wade around them, regaining your stamina until, once you’re prepared, you activate Demon Mode. You close the distance with the enemy by running like a famous ninja who’s renowned for outrunning things, and then get ready to unleash another flurry of blows.
Unfortunately, the disgusting Juratodile has plenty of mucus to spare, and launches another mound directly on top of you. Panicking, you swing your arms around wildly as you slowly free yourself from the goop. When you thrash your way out of the mound and meet a sudden lack of resistance, you fall over flat. You feel like your body is covered in awful. Your breaths are short and shallow, your whole body feels waterlogged, and you have to release Demon Mode after your body can no longer take the strain. Right, Liz told you about this. You reach into your pouch for some berries, and get an assortment, all with different colors. Uh, which one was for when you’re wet…?
“*DAAAAAAH!!!*” you scream, your pondering having been interrupted. The Jyurydotter suddenly emerges from the muddy water beneath you, flinging you into the air. You land back in the water with a thud. You barely manage to stagger to your feet before seeing another incoming attack. It’s going to lunge at you! Desperate, you begin rolling out of the way, but you don’t have enough stamina. You flop onto your back, and the monster collides with you headfirst like a train. Why did you ever agree to fight something as disgusting as the Juratoddy…? The last thing you see before passing out is more goop being dropped onto your prone body.
