Vengeance was never easy.
Interpol agent Chun-li watched the sky, hoping the jet carrying Bison would explode from the power of her thoughts alone. The crime lord of Shadaloo arranged his escape and just when they'd had them cornered, he used his own hostages as a diversion. At least he didn't kill them. A small victory easily dwarfed by their failure. Yelling reached her ears and she shifted her attention to the blossoming argument. Guile's wife and daughter had been among the hostages, so the Air Force Colonel forced his way into the case despite strong feelings against his involvement. Chun-li was willing to sit this one out but they assigned her to keep a leash on Guile. She'd done a decent job until they'd confronted the man. Seeing him in the flesh made her skin crawl but by some miracle she kept a cool head when he personally challenged the two. How many times had he been killed only to return stronger than ever? The man made a deal with the devil...or maybe he was the devil. "--I had to do it for Charlie!" Guile screamed. His voice was ragged from screaming and his body covered in cuts and bruises. "I couldn't let him live!"Julia's face was red and sticky from crying. "You chose to fight him instead of releasing us! I saw it! Amy saw it!" The little girl had her arms wrapped around her mother, her small shoulders heaving up and down from her sobs. A lump formed in Chun-li's throat. A kid shouldn't go through that. She wanted to pull Amy away but didn't want to risk their anger shifting to her. Technically, this wasn't her business."I could've beat him! I know it!" said Guile."Then what?" Julia snapped. "You would have killed him! You want Amy to grow up thinking you're a murderer?!" Guile moved to respond but faltered. Julia flew away from him, half-dragging her daughter with her. They joined the remainder of hostages in the truck. Slamming the door shut, the transport drove off. The Interpol agent joined his side."I'm sorry." Chun-li put a hand on his shoulder. "I think she's just scared."Guile kept watching the truck. "Yeah. Scared." He shrugged her away and stormed off. Afterwards, they were both debriefed and assigned to submit their reports of the incident.*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Chun-li massaged her temple. Her head throbbed from staring at a computer screen all day. She did her best to dance around the argument between Guile and his wife but she'd finally finished. "Chun-li." Her eyes snapped open and she looked up to see Guile standing at her desk."Hey." She shot him a tired smile. "What's up?""I was wondering if you had anything planned tonight." "Nope." She moved her mouse and ordered the computer to print her report. "Wanna do something?" "I could use a stiff drink after this." He suggested. "You aren't kidding." She stood up and gathered the thick stack of paper. "I'll submit my report and we'll head out. Sound good?""Sounds great." Chun-li's heels clicked smartly on the pavement. Clad in a black, three-piece suit, she looked different compared to her signature blue qipao. The only piece she wore constantly were her silk brocades over her brown hair. Guile on the other hand was constantly in his army green wife-beater and fatigue pants. She'd seen him in a suit once after the last World Warrior tournament and he looked wrong...also uncomfortable.*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The bar Guile picked was smoky and out of the way. Even though it was happy hour, there were few patrons inside. Hesitant, Chun-li ventured further until the Colonel waved her over from the end of the bar. "You changed your clothes." Chun-li noted while she slipped into the stool beside him, careful of her skirt. "Meh, it's just a t-shirt." He shrugged. The grey fabric stretched tight over his muscles and in black block letters said UNITED STATES AIR FORCE. "So get a drink already. I've taken three shots watin' for you.""Isn't it too early to drink so much?""Why?" He scoffed. "Aren't we celebrating?"“I guess.” She turned to the bartender and ordered a Long Island Iced Tea. “Girly-drink.” Guile snorted.“Surprise! I’m a girl!” She retorted with a heavy roll of her eyes. She took a sip of her drink. “So how’s the family?”Guile frowned and Chun-li grew worried. “Bison didn’t do anything to them, did he?”“It’s not that.” He idly fingered the label on his beer. “Julia and I…agreed to spend some time apart so I’d get my head together.” “Yeah, she was pretty angry…” “Hell, she was pissed.” He half-laughed as he swore. “She went off about how I tied myself up with Charlie and work. Talking about how I spend more time with you than her.” “Yeah, that would be a sore spot.” “She actually thought I hung out with you because you dressed like that.” He downed his beer in a quick gulp.Chun-li frowned. “And what’s wrong with how I dress?”“Nothing…If you’re hookin’.” “I don’t have to take this.” The woman’s face burned with embarrassment and she moved to get up.“I was just jokin’ Chun-li!” The woman ignored him and continued to storm out. He called after her again, but she was already out the door.*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
After a long shower, she wondered why his comment had bothered her so much. Is wasn’t like her qipao was modest or anything. Chun-li tugged her yellow night gown over her head and walked over to her bed, scooping up her brush on the way. Perhaps she overreacted. He’d been getting chewed out by his wife and he had a few drinks in him too. Hell, he’d gotten kicked out even. I guess I can understand. Chun-li mused while brushing her hair. Julia's done everything she can to be supportive of Guile but for him to nearly kill someone in front of their daughter...Guile became even more distant and started showing up less and less for work after the incident. Today was the first time she’d seen him. Chun-li shook off her concern feeling there was no place for it....He should talk to someone. Separating her hair into two chunks, she quickly twisted it into a thick braid. She began looping over into a small bun. Well...he tried to talk to me...somewhat...She considered calling him but quickly dismissed doing so. She was just his partner. They rarely met outside of work and even then, all they talked about was work. Chun-li wasn't even sure about what to say to him. "Hey, Guile. It's Chun-li. I'm worried you haven't shown up for work in a few days even though I stormed out on you." She chuckled to herself. Rehearsing her potential conversation, the only subject that came up was work…aside from her pig-headed behavior. Work, work, work. She finished tying up her hair. "I really need to get a hobby."A crash came from the living room. Chun-li remained on the bed, motionless. She heard more muttering among bumps and scrapes. The sounds grew closer and her eyes widened."Guile?" She called out, confused. The man in question stumbled into her doorway. His stiff blond hair was frayed and disheveled. His bloodshot blue eyes eyed her hungrily."So this is where your bedroom is." He grinned. "You didn't answer so I let myself in." Instantly, Chun-li's resolve returned and she brimmed with annoyance. "Where the hell have you been?" "Took some time off ta get my head together." He lurched into her room like he had the authority to do so. Chun-li tensed up and tried to move back as he approached her."What are you--" He reached out, placing his hands on her breasts and squeezed them. Chun-li gasped and tried to pull him away but he quickly grabbed her wrists and held them away from her body. "G-Guile!" She screamed. The man said nothing but pulled her to him with a sharp jerk and crushed his lips against hers."Mmph!" Chun-li made a muffled noise of protest, her eyes wide with shock. If she didn't think he was serious before, she certainly did now. Her mind raced to figure out the best way to diffuse the situation but nothing came to mind. In fact, the whole thing felt surreal.Taking advantage of her surprise, Guile slipped his tongue between her lips and began eagerly exploring her mouth. The woman released a small groan and relaxed in his grip, growing somewhat passive. Her eyes closed and she tilted her head slightly to give him better access. Considering it best to remain unresponsive, she sat there and allowed his invading tongue to roam deeper into her mouth. A needy urge twisted in the pit of her stomach and her heart started pounding. Guile's hold on her wrists weakened and she pulled her hands free, keeping them in her lap. The man lowered his hands and gently cupped her face. He broke the kiss, running his tongue across her bottom lip."C'mon." He sighed. "Kiss me back." "You have a wife." Chun-li turned away from him and his hand fell away to rest on her shoulders. "You don't wanna do this."Guile frowned and took his hands off her, giving a frustrated growl. He climbed off the bed, turning his back to her. Chun-li fidgeted, unsure of whether to stand up or sit down. She looked down at her hands, realizing she'd been clenching them."...'m sorry..." He grumbled, scratching the back of his head. "Just 'cause I'm having problems doesn't mean I should be a problem for you." A tense moment passed before Guile spoke again. "I'm gonna go." Shaking off a pang of guilt, Chun-li raised her head to apologize but the man was already gone. She hopped out of bed and stormed into the living room. Guile left her door open and Chun-li assumed he'd just been in a hurry to leave. For some reason, that though irritated her even more and she slammed it shut with all her strength. She spun around and pressed her back against the door. "What was that about?" She thought. Raking her fingers through her hair, she gave a huff of air and slid to the floor. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
