Brandi looked around her new school, Sweet Amoris High. Her long brown hair was pulled back, and her bright green eyes looked around. She didn’t smile as she was looking for Nathaniel, someone she was supposed to see.
She walked into one of the rooms, and looked.
“Hey!” She yelled out to the boy there.
“For pete’s sake, this is not a circus. You can talk normally in here.” He said.
“Are you Nathaniel?”
“Yes. Can I help you?”
“Yeah. Registration shit.”
Nathanial glared at her.
“This is school; there is no need for swearing.”
“I will fucking swear if I want.”
The blond shook his head, and placed his hand at his forehead, eyes closed.
“Please follow the rules.”
“I’d rather not thanks. Can I go now? I really don’t want to be in this room…especially with you.”
Nathanial pinched the bridge of his nose, and looked at her. He handed her what she needed, and she left. Brandi was looking through her papers when she walked into another blond.
“Watch where the fuck you’re going!” She yelled, and stooped down to pick up her papers.
“Oh I’m sorry, did the bitch get into the school?”
Brandi stood up, angry.
“You got a problem!?” She glared at her, her green eyes brighter than normal.
The girl smirked. She was with two other girls who Brandi already didn’t like. She tossed her brown hair back, and went to go by her. The girl grabbed her, and forced her back.
“Do you fucking mind?” Brandi asked.
“Not at all.”
Brandi later found out the girls name was Amber, and stormed to the courtyard, where she ran into Castiel.
“Gah!”
“Calm down!”
“Sorry Castiel. Amber has me worked up! Oh I so wanna break those pretty little teeth of hers!”
Castiel smiled at the little threat. The girl had bite to her, there was no doubt about that, and Amber and her bitch fest was only fueling her hatred for them.
“And that idiot Nathaniel doesn’t even listen to me! All I did was bitch about her and he told me to watch my mouth!”
Castiel smiled more. She was feisty.
“Gah. I better go. I’m sure those three stooges will be back…” Brandi said, and skulked off.
He had to keep himself from laughing. Once inside the school, the brunette opened her locker, only to receive a shock.
“Hi Brandi!”
“K-KEN!? W-WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!”
“I transferred!”
“WHY DID YOU FOLLOW ME?”
“Well…” Tears came from his eyes.
Brandi sighed.
“I’m sorry Ken. Amber has me so wound up…”
“She’s mean to me too.”
Brandi felt bad for him. Wasn’t it bad enough Amber had to pick on the new students, but even the ones who were the most susceptible to her?
The night had fallen around her, and she was getting her homework done. Brandi looked out her window, wearing the pajamas that her mother had given her. The tank strap was on her arm instead of her shoulder, and she heard knocking on the window.
Thinking it was Amber being a bitch, she ignored it until a text came in through her phone from Castiel.
Open your damn window.
“Thanks Cas.”
Brandi opened her window, and stuck her head out.
“Castiel!”
“Sorry, I wanted to see you.”
“As if taking me to the top of the high school wasn’t enough.”
“Just get down here!”
Brandi shut her window and rolled her eyes, throwing on her clothes and going down the stairs. She circled around to the back of her place, and found him. He was smiling.
“Let’s go!”
Brandi cast one look at her home, and went off with him into the night.
The night sky was beautiful as he took her to a cliff side with water at the bottom. She went to bend over to look when he grabbed her by the back of her green shirt.
“I don’t mind bringing you out here, but I do not want to be the reason for your death.”
Brandi turned and looked at him, smiling. He smiled back.
“How do you know about this place?”
“I come every now and then.”
“Hell, if mom knew I was out here she'd have a cow.”
Castiel smiled at the idea. He watched as she turned to look at the sparkling water. Castiel couldn’t help but notice how her eyes would glitter with the water.
“Don’t your parents care?”
“They’re never home.”
She looked at him, and for a minute, he thought he saw pity in her eyes. She wasn’t like other girls he dated. She then sat on the grass, and put her arms up on her knees, smiling as she watched the water. Not one for sitting on his ass on wet grass, Castiel looked up to see a light going over the water.
“A lighthouse?”
“Yeah.”
“Where is it?”
Castiel didn’t know, but maybe it be fun to take Demon for a walk to find it.
The next day at school was brutal. It turned out Amber found out about Brandi’s midnight stroll, and was constantly trying to get out of her who the male was that went with her. Brandi refused to give up Castiel. She wasn’t like that.
“Look all I have to do is report you to the principal!”
“Go ahead!”
Amber glowered at her. She was getting nowhere with this new girl. She didn’t like her, she was too much to handle. Brandi was a normal girl, but she had a rough attitude. She shut her locker, put her bag on her shoulder, and walked off to her next class.
She ended up running into Nathanial.
“Ow!”
She didn’t even help him up as she raced past him and up the stairs to her next class. She then ran into Ken.
“STOP FUCKING FOLLOWING ME AROUND KEN!”
The boy got up off the ground, watching as she got up, and ran to her class. Yet again, Castiel was absent. Brandi figured he was ditching class again, and didn’t say a word when the teacher asked if anyone knew where he was. She respected him too much to tell on him.
“Can anyone tell me?”
Amber spoke up.
“Ask Brandi.” She smirked.
The green eyed girl glared at her.
“Brandi?”
“I don’t know. Perhaps he was sick of Amber’s shit and didn’t want to deal with her.”
Outside the door, Castiel listened. He heard Amber give a gasp and the sound of something hitting the floor, probably her purse, and a few other kids laughing.
“Brandi!” Amber said in a warning tone.
“What’s wrong Amber? Can’t you lay off the boy for once in his lifetime? If he didn’t want to date you before,” Castiel growled and Amber blushed, “What makes you think he will date you now? You’re just a fan girl wannabe.”
The next thing the teacher knew, Amber had flown over the desks, grasping Brandi around the neck and choking her. The sounds of someone choking made Castiel go in, and see the girl who went with him to the cliff scratching at the other ones fingers.
He grabbed Amber by the back of her shirt, and yanked hard as he could. For a minute she had dragged Brandi with her before letting go. The brown haired girl coughed and choked, trying to catch her breath back, tears falling from her eyes. Some ones hand grabbed hers, and pulled her from the class. Crying, Brandi broke down going down the stairs, and fell into some ones chest.
“Are you ok?”
He could see she was in shock from the attack, and couldn’t blame her. The bruises bloomed on her neck in the shape of Ambers fingers. It would be a reminder to him about it. When Nathanial came around the corner, Castiel grabbed him, and pushed him against the wall.
“Are you so fucking stupid!?”
“Holy Castiel!”
“Your bitch of a sister tried to choke Brandi! You can’t let this one slide!”
Nathaniel knew he couldn’t, but everyone knew he would only report it, and be done with it. Castiel also knew, and let him go after shoving him hard against the wall again, then went back to Brandi, who seemed to be slowly recovering from the shock, but was starting to become blazing angry. He wondered for a minute if he should let her go attack Amber, or if it be the last thing Brandi ever had done.
“Brandi.”
She looked up at him, and he could see right then and there that she was so angry she probably didn’t even realize it was him in front of her.
“Knock it off.” Castiel said, hoping to calm her before she did some real damage.
She looked up at him with tears in her eyes, and he held his hand down, helping her up.
“I’m sorry…”
“You shouldn’t be sorry. Amber should.” Castiel cast another glare at Nathanial, and then left Brandi standing on the stairs.
That night as she laid in bed, Brandi thought of ways to get revenge on Amber. She had physically tried to kill her. It seemed nothing was good enough for her. Amber had everything she wanted under her thumb. As Brandi thought this, her phone rang.
“Hello…”
“Brandi?”
It was Castiel. She shot up.
“C-Castiel!?”
“I was calling to see if you wanted to go on a walk with Demon and I.”
“Sure. I’d like that a lot!”
“Then hurry up! I’m already outside your home!”
“WHAT?!”
Brandi fell out of bed, and rushed to put her clothes on. She had her black and white top on with her white jeans and black converses, and ran out the door, only to run directly into Castiel.
“OH SHIT I’M SORRY.”
Castiel lifted her face to see the bruises, still dark and deep around her throat. He growled in his, and took her by the hand, Demon’s leash in the other, and took her back to the cliff.
It was as beautiful as the other night, except with Demon running around, catching the biscuits that Castiel would occasionally throw into the air for him to catch. The dog was happy as he chewed up his treats, and finally laid down next to Castiel.
She laid back and gazed at the stars. They twinkled above her head. She tried to pick out the constellations, and the other main stars, but half the time, she got it wrong.
“This is relaxing. Oh you must think I’m an idiot!” Brandi said.
Castiel, who was propped up on his elbow on his side looked at her. He didn’t think that at all. He thought of her as a girl who could hold her own, if she wasn’t viciously and brutally attacked. She looked over at him with tears in her eyes, which shocked him.
“Brandi, you’re a strong girl. You were just taken by surprise.”
“Yeah…but I’m sure-“
“You know I heard you…I never really expected you to stand up for me.”
She rolled on her side to him.
“And I never expected you to have a soft side.”
He smiled at her, and for once, she didn’t see the hardened eyes he normally had.
They walked her home, and she couldn’t help but cry out. The house was covered in eggs and toilet paper, and her window clearly said: SLUT.
Castiel went over, and ran his hand over the word. It was still wet.
“Bring me vinegar and an old towel! Hurry!”
Brandi ran in and brought him the items. Castiel easily cleaned the window and looked at her. They both knew who done this to Brandi’s window. Amber.
