Chapter Seven: Fun!
“You are infuriating.”
“Funny, I was going to say the same thing.”
Desmond raised an eyebrow and glanced over to Connor who merely shrugged as he crept forward. Desmond watched as Charles Lee and Haytham Kenway argued, both Templars were oblivious to the fact that they were alone and vulnerable. Charles Lee was safe, neither Desmond or Connor wanted him, they both wanted the submissive.
“Would you leave me be you infuriating man!” Haytham exclaimed. “You have almost betrayed the whole Templar order! You almost gave into those assassins! And now you want me to consider their offer. I will not! I have not fought all this time simply to give up!”
“Haytham…”
“Be gone!”
Charles sighed and stared as Haytham stubbornly turned his back on him and marched over to the wall to stare out to sea. “Very well I will leave you to your temper tantrum. When you’ve calmed down and are ready to talk you will find me at headquarters.” The blue eyed man swiftly turned and strode away.
“Temper tantrum!” Haytham hissed silently. “The fool will not get away with that.”
Desmond snickered silently as he moved towards the Templar. The man had no idea how much danger he was in, two highly trained assassin’s were mere metres from his position. Desmond watched amused as Connor revealed himself behind the Templar. He stared at Haytham’s back with a smirk as Desmond slowly circled to stand in front of the Templar. “Hello father.” Connor greeted. Haytham tensed and turned giving Desmond his chance to strike, in seconds Haytham was slumped in Desmond’s arms.
“We won’t have much time before the Templars realise their leader is missing.” Desmond commented quietly as they worked to secure Haytham before tying him to the back of Connor’s horse. “Haytham may have bought us a little time with his little tantrum but that will only give us so much extra time.”
“I know.” Connor answered. “He won’t give us many answers but perhaps we can use him as bait, lure the others to him so we can take out the majority of his cult.”
“That’s the plan.” Desmond agreed. “No point killing the leader yet, the only purpose that would serve is to make them all run.”
“We still do not know their response to the deal.” Connor pointed out.
“You heard for yourself.” Desmond answered. “Haytham is not going to agree to the deal even if Charles does. To get Haytham to behave Charles would have to keep him chained to him forever. Haytham Kenway is a liability and a danger; he needs to be put down. I’m sorry Connor, I really am. I wanted to believe that Haytham can be saved but I don’t believe he can.”
“I…I suspect your right. But I must try. If it doesn’t work out I’ll kill him myself.” Connor answered.
Desmond said nothing as they rode to a little abandoned hut in the wilderness. Connor had discovered the place a few days before as they had planned their next move. Desmond had been quite approving of the area. The buildings rafters allowed for assassin’s to hide since no Templar bothered to look up as a rule. The land was flat around the immediate area with a few bushes here and there, perfect hiding places for assassins but nowhere for Templars to hide.
Haytham groaned as Connor pulled him from the horse and transported him inside. Desmond followed and watched unspeaking as Connor secured the Templar to the chair at the centre of the room. Moments later Haytham opened his eyes and frowned when he found he could not move. The Templar glared at them both but Desmond merely smirked and leant back against the wall.
“So…father, have you considered our offer?” Connor demanded as he leaned into Haytham’s personal space. “Or does Desmond have to fuck you for you to say yes?”
“Say?” Desmond stated sarcastically. “By the time I’m done Haytham will be screaming yes and pledging his loyalty to us assassins.” That was a lie of course, Desmond had never topped but Haytham did not need to know this.
“You wouldn’t.”
“Try me.” Desmond purred. Haytham looked startled before glancing at his son. Pleased Connor waved Desmond off and Desmond happily went silent.
“So father. What is your answer?” Connor asked again.
“No.”
Connor pretended to pout before grinning towards Desmond. “Desmond, deliver the messages, let his comrades know we have him.”
“What are you planning?” Haytham asked eyes narrowed.
“Oh father, father, father.” Connor stated in amusement. “I have you. Charles Lee will be here first to rescue his beloved little pet. The others will be here to rescue their leader and figure-head. And when they come.” Connor need not say anymore, Haytham’s eyes widened and he struggled futily in his bonds.
“You won’t get away with this.”
“I already have.” Connor answered. “Go.” He ordered Desmond.
Desmond need not be asked twice, he mounted his horse and within seconds he was cantering away. His first stop would be Haytham’s lover and then Haytham’s loyal minions. Desmond chuckled a little at that, it made it sound a little like a game but this was real life and in all honesty he hadn’t had as much fun as he was having now. Connor trusted him to do things for himself whereas Ezio and Altair had always left him somewhere safe as if he was a damsel in distress. It was freeing to be able to do something like this.
Charles Lee was in the Templar’s bar when Desmond finally arrived, the Templar was wary but did not seem to notice when Desmond arrived. Desmond silently sighed in amusement as he stared at the back of the man’s head. “You’d think you Templar’s would be more aware.” He commented in amusement. The Templar jumped and turned as he drew his weapons, moments later he was pressed against the wall with a blade to his neck and his sword was slid across the floor. “Hello Mr Lee.”
“Greetings.” Charles tried to look unaffected by Desmond’s proximity but it was clear Desmond’s cold grin, cold blade and hard grip were affecting the man. “I…I suppose you’re not here to talk.”
“If I wasn’t here to talk you’d already be dead Templar.” Desmond answered. “You would not have even known I was in the room.”
“Then what do you want?” The Templar asked nervously.
Desmond watched the man swallow nervously before meeting those exotic blue eyes. “We have Haytham and we are more than ready to kill him.” He watched Charles’ eyes widen with terror and pressed his blade more firmly to the man’s skin when it looked as if Charles would struggle. “However we are gentlemen and so we have not killed him yet. We’ll give you and him one last chance. Leave this country, give up the Templar cause and Haytham will not be harmed. If we hear of anymore Templar exploits...” Desmond dramatically paused to smirk a cruel smirk. “Well we’ll be delivering a piece of him to you as a gift.”
“That’s barbaric.”
“And murdering all those innocent people and taking away their free-will is better?” Desmond countered. “I’m planning on killing one enemy who threatens the lives of others, you kill for power.” Desmond met Charles gaze with a cool expression. “But we’re not murderers like you Mr Lee. We’ll give you one chance but one chance only. Give up the need for power, give up the Templar cause and you and your little pet will walk free.”
“What do you want me to do?”
“Desmond smiled pleased. “We are holding your lover in an abandoned hut a few miles from town. If you want your lover in one piece you’ll come unarmed and alone. There you will vow to us that you will give up the cause and you will sign a contract on behalf of all Templars that you will not invade or try to take over this land. If you try anything, if you try to go back on the deal or to trick us you’ll lose the one thing you hold dear.”
Desmond sent Charles crashing to the floor and used the Templar’s distraction to escape the building. By the time Charles had stood and collect his sword Desmond was gone.
Desmond returned to the hut hours later after delivering one threatening message after another. He had spread fear amongst the figure-heads of the Templar order and he had returned victorious. “My job is done.” He told Connor with a smug smirk. “You should have seen Charles Lee’s face when he learned of his pet’s capture.”
A muffled shout bought Desmond’s shout to Haytham’s gagged mouth, Connor shrugged when Desmond raised an eyebrow at him. “His arrogance got on my nerves.” Connor offered as explanation. Desmond merely chuckled and exited the building and climbed a tree so he could see anyone approaching.
Hmm, I miss having Desmond pinned beneath me, those eyes… those eyes! So pretty so expressive.
Can you lay off for one minute, fool? We’re trying to find Desmond to bring him home. We can have our reunion later.
There’s nothing wrong with a bit of fun innamorato, chill out and relax, I’ll be glad to help you.
There’s nothing wrong with modesty either but you seem to avoid that like the plague.
Desmond glanced around and smiled as he heard the voices. Ezio and Altair sounded so close and yet they weren’t there. Whatever they were doing seemed to be working though for he could hear them. “Ezio. Altair.” He called but he received no reply. “Perhaps I can hear them but they can’t hear me?” Desmond smirked before frowning and glaring. “Bloody pervert Italian. Can’t keep it in his trousers.” Thankfully Altair had been raised better and thus kept Ezio at bay when out in public otherwise Ezio would try to sleep with them wherever he was.
“Is anyone coming?” Connor asked moments later. “I thought I heard something.”
Desmond smiled. “I heard Ezio and Altair, whatever they’re doing seems to be working. Hopefully they’ll arrive soon.” He told the Native American. “I was just cursing my lover for his comments.”
“Oh?” Connor asked curious as he climbed up to join Desmond for a short while.
“Ezio was remembering me…” Desmond paused as he blushed. “He was remembering me beneath him.” Connor’s eyes widened and he blushed too.
Both heard a thud and shared a look before Connor dropped down and glanced into the hut. “The fool tried to escape and ended up tipped over.” He informed Desmond before entering the building and leaving Desmond alone to his thoughts.
Desmond glanced up at the sky and smiled. “Hurry up you idiots or you’ll miss all the fun.”
